I can't wait to come back when I'm on vacation!! Not sure if they are open for lunch but this breakfast was delicious! Our servers were very nice as well.

The Seahorse restaurant is popular for its breakfasts. My breakfast was OK but perhaps it wasn't worth the wait to get seated. Yes we waited about twenty minutes before a table became available. Supposedly that's not unusual for this little restaurant. I thought the breakfast items could have used a little more creativity. I mean, they serve very basic breakfast items at inexpensive prices. But most breakfast foods are inexpensive so that's not really anything special. Perhaps the most creative thing on a the menu were the pecan pancakes. I ordered a stack of them and they were yummy. Overall I don't know if I'd return again. I might want to try some other local breakfast joints before making a return visit. Lastly I recommend checking out both the docks and beach at Pass A Grille. Pass A Grille is a more laid back and slower paced section of Saint Pete's Beach.

Upon recommendation from a friend regarding brunch options we ventured out to try the Sea Horse. I was pleased to see a cute little place on the water but was saddened by the serious lack of parking, although given the location I suppose it can't be helped. We waited in the hot sun for a while and then were granted a shady spot when others were seated. We finally were called and were seated out on their "covered" patio. The only way I'll sit out there again is during a Florida winter when I won't sweat into my eggs. I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs with bland cheese grits and a single pancake. I also had a mimosa which is the only cocktail they offer. Aside from the pancake, the food was kinda greasy with so-so flavor. I personally wasn't impressed, but would go again if friends wanted to go.

Slightly disappointed after reading decent reviews on this place. We stopped in for an early breakfast before a day on St. Pete Beach. Note they don't have a liquor license - we were disappointed when we couldn't get Bloody Mary's. The mimosas were ok but nothing special. I ordered the shrimp and grits which were also ok but didn't blow me away. The portions were large. My fiancé ordered corned beef and hash. The corned beef hash tasted like the canned kind and the scrambled eggs were overdone. They also only have grape jam which is a little odd for a breakfast place. The views of the water are nice if you sit outside. We enjoyed that part and perhaps would try lunch or dinner there instead.

Loved my visit to The Seahorse in Pass a grille. Crowded, yes, but that's usually a very good sign. Outdoor porch available to enjoy the gorgeous view of the water while you wait. Hands down best Shrimp & Grits I've ever had. Generous portion of both & real, slow cooked grits. Reasonably priced. I recommend it for breakfast if you're in town.

This restaurant is normally packed no matter what day it is. Unfortunately, we weren't thinking and we decided to go for breakfast on the morning of Mother's Day. There was a bit of a wait but the staff was turning through the tables quickly. We sat at the bar where we were immediately greeted warmly by Deb. Deb immediately could tell that I liked my mimosas made of a majority of sparkling with OJ on the side! I ordered a normal breakfast of two eggs, toast, with bacon. My date ordered the pancakes (which were gigantic) and the sausage. I am normally all about the bacon, but the sausage was fantastic and the pancakes were fabulous. Lenie, the hostess, was so funny and made our visit even more pleasureable! Stop by the Seahorse when you are in Pass-a-Grille, it is definitely worth the wait.

One of our favorite beach breakfast spots. We always like to find out where the locals go and, for Pass-a-Grille, this is it and for good reason. Friendly service, reasonable prices for good food, and a nice view of the bay. Never disappointed.

We stopped by for some late breakfast because it's down the road from the shuttle boat to get to shell key. They had a lot of people waiting outside so I thought it would be pretty good. They said 20 minutes, but we really waited about 40 minutes. Their menu is small. Not a lot of options at all. I ordered biscuits and gravy because that was one of the three options I had that wasn't eggs. It was pretty good, but not really worth the 40 minute wait. I also ordered a mimosa. That was also just ok. Nothing too great or bad about this place.

Great breakfast! Pancakes, bacon, home fries, shrimp and grits! I think we may eat breakfast here every day! Great service and very friendly.

Perfect for several reasons that are super important to me. Breakfast places don't get perfect ratings for me, but this place is really darn close. 1. The location to start with is perfect. I have driven down early early morning and parked next to the beach and strolled over, and I have biked down early morning as well. In both cases, if you arrive early on a Sunday, your proactive nature will pay off. 2. Atmosphere: Both times I was able to sit outside under the latice style covering over the simple picnic tables. It wasn't too hot and the breeze always helps. 3. The food! Yes, yes, yes! When having breakfast I always look for crispy potatoes and bacon. This place does very very well. Their potatoes are crispy and brown and in chunks. No hashbrowns here. Chunks all the way fried and wonderful. The bacon is crispy and delightful. Wonderful! This place takes my heart because I can have breakfast, stroll to shop, and then go walk on the beach. The beach walk is what makes it fabulous and tied into a perfect slice of heaven. After this experience, life can't get much better and you can't help but smile and love life.

This place is absolutely an institution. It has certainly been around for decades and looks that way - and that's a good thing. There are lots of old articles about the restaurant and the area decorating the restaurant. This is in the heart of Pass-a-grille and it fits in with the laid back attitude of the area. On my most recent visit, I tried the corned beef hash with eggs. It made for a delightful combination with my eggs over easy. The yolk mixed with the hash was divine. My only disappointment was the home fries which were described as "infamous." It's not that they were bad per se, it's that "infamous" is a very high standard that these merely mediocre home fries did not meet. Next time I will try the grits.

Great food in an awesome place. Been there since '38 for a reason. This was my Moms favorite place so I always stop by a couple times when I'm in St. Pete. Definitely recommend for a meal when you're visiting pass-a-grille.

Worst breakfast imaginable. Where these other reviews that are above 1 star must be eating at a Salvation Army camp. Truly the the worst on the beach.

VIBE: old Florida, the past, comfortable, knotty pine built-in booths, small bar and outdoor service. This is where you can get a good standard breakfast. Overlooking the Intercoastal waterway. If you want barista coffee service, eggs Benedict, croissants, etc then this is not for you. I have been over a dozen times for breakfast and enjoyed every visit. Service always has been with a smile and fast. ORDER THE: blueberry pancakes. Sausage patties (never links) have just the right amount of spice. Grits are perfect - not to sweet, too runny or too pasty.

I give them 1 star for food. Everything was out of a box or a can. NOT good eats. Everything else I give 4 stars

Finally came in for a late breakfast after passing this gem for years. Gracious pleasant waitress greets me as I walk in, asking if I wanted inside or outside seating. Breeze a bit cool so a booth inside. My server appears in seconds with menu, then coffee cup appears in seconds. Short stack of two blueberry pancakes for $4.95 was reasonable for packed place during snowbird season. Cup reloaded twice within 15 minutes despite heavy workload. Red brick floor plus wood paneling and wood furniture throughout captures that rustic seaside village atmosphere. Images of seahorses and assorted sea creatures on walls and shelves. Compact bar in middle surrounded by window booths, more booths farther back. Hanging lights shrouded in rattan lampshades above every booth. Track lighting along top of walls. As I was leaving, the same greeter said the magic words "have a nice day" They get a medal for above and beyond service. The Seahorse has been there on the Pass-A-Grille waterfront since 1958, I'm not surprised.

I was not impressed with the French toast. A couple of pieces of white bread with no inspiration was a big disappointment. Maybe the hash or eggs were better. I thought it would be much better.

Was fortunate to find a parking spot around 9AM. Booth was clean and place was inviting. Serves a lot of local residents and snowbirds. Waitress was very nice and got coffee right away. Ordered special of eggs, bacon, toast and grits. Everything was cooked as ordered but the grits were excellent. My coffee cup was filled about every five minutes. Will definitely return and recommend.

We walk to breakfast at the Seahorse every morning (except Tuesday) during our annual visit to St. Pete. Cute place with a friendly staff. My husband said the biscuits could be better and I think the coffee could be stronger, but overall, breakfast is consistently good and very reasonably priced.

Vintage-postcard Florida seaside shanty with kitschy ocean decor. Offers tables inside or an outdoor covered area with picnic table seating area off the parking lot overlooking the waterway and the less-beaten path. The Sea Horse is good food with decent pricing, quaint location, and friendly service. Their fried seafood selections and French fries were cooked to the quintessential golden brown, while their tangy coleslaw and authentic key lime pie complemented the meal. Prices and portions are small, but absolutely fair and manageable. A hidden gem tucked behind St. Petersburg Beach.

Crowded, but not a crazy long wait. Breakfast was good and not too pricey. Service wasn't the best, but I wouldn't call it slow either since it was crowded. One negative I have was my coffee wasn't too hot and the mugs are so small. 2nd cup was hot though. I'd definitely recommend this place for breakfast.

Visiting my friend and we went here twice. Nice location right by the water. Parking was a little tough though one day. Not a lot of things on the menu, but that was okay with us. Everything was reasonably priced and the service was friendly. The place was cute inside. We really liked our breakfasts.

Straightforward breakfast spot in Passe Grille. Servers are amazing. We were in a hurry and they were quick to help us. Food is basic breakfast fare. You won't find exotic crab cake eggs benedict here and that's perfectly fine by me. The sausage biscuits and gravy are amazing. The pecan pancakes can't be beat. Great place to start your weekend!

Loved this place. I had the blueberry pancakes and coffee. My husband had corn beef hash. Both meals were great. The coffee was extra hot and extra good. We will definitely be going back tomorrow morning.

I really don't understand how so many reviewers of this place say "it's the best breakfast EVER!" and, "the food is SO delicious and amazing!" They obviously haven't been around much, nor experienced really good food. I came in with high expectations because this is such a historical and raved-about place, but I was highly disappointed in the food at the Seahorse. I would have liked to give it more stars for the great location and staff/service. Other than that, the food was worse than "meh." The Seahorse has been a local staple, frequented by locals and tourists alike for decades. I think they are at the point where they just don't care about the quality of food, because they know people will keep coming here, after getting recommendations from Trip Advisor and local hotels. Plus there are not many other breakfast/lunch restaurants to choose from in this area within close proximity. The locals will continue to come here out of loyalty and convenience, and tourists will continue to chose the Seahorse because of the aforementioned suggestions. Everything was super bland and tasted like it was out of a can. It was not awful food, just not good food. I could have made a better breakfast at home. And the home fries that everyone is raving about? I've had ten times better at numerous dives around the country. The corned beef hash is literally out of a can. At least they could have doctored it up and added some signature spices, veggies, whatever. But sadly, it was just overcooked canned food. And the toast is. at best, basic: it's not even the thick Texas toast style that many other breakfast places offer. Even the coffee was bland. It would be a great draw if they added flavored or specialty coffees, like cappuccino or even Kona coffee, and created a little coffeehouse atmosphere. My boyfriend had the biscuits and gravy. Again, canned and bland, and the biscuits were tough with lukewarm gravy. There is just no originality here, not with the decor nor with the food. Save your money; go to Denny's for more variety, flavor, and quality. I hate to be so harsh, because the location is great, the staff was friendly and hard-working, and service/seating/parking were flawless. But the food quality did this place in. Although it is quaint and cute and a local favorite, I will not be back.

Breakfast was a solid choice. Toast was perfect, corned beef hash done good. Excellent speedy service. Would be five stars if they served more local ingredients eg fresh squeezed orange juice.

This is a tasty value for breakfast- served until 1p if last night kept you up late. A block off the beach. Eat inside or out and service is 1st class. Comfortable, clean and very reasonable. Only drawback - no Amex.

  • Nicki M.

I would have liked to give this place more stars because the staff was really nice and the place was so cheap, 8 of us ate there and drank beer for 2 hours and the bill was only 90 bucks. However... Both grouper sandwiches had turned, so gross, maybe it was a mistake. When my husband said his food was kinda fishy i thought he was being a child, till i tasted it and almost spit it out. Also my parents got the peel and eat shrimp which was slimy and also bad. My food however, was very good, chicken and rice, which I felt silly ordering at a place on the water but clearly i made the best decision. I'm thinking they were just having a bad day, the place was packed.

Very upsetting experience! We arrived at 12 noon waited for the hostess to take us to our table when we sat down it was 1202 and the waitress said we could not order breakfast because they stopped serving breakfast at 12, terrible ! In addition, breakfast items were still coming out of the kitchen. Why would a place, open from 8-2 have any time restrictions? And, 2 minutes, really? We then ordered lunch a chicken sandwich which was a thin piece of chicken w no taste w 1piece of lettue. And my husband ordered a grilled cheese that had a whole 1 or 2 pieces of yellow American cheese! Really we could of done better if we cooked at home! On top of this, they don't carry sour cream, for black bean soup, and no ranch dressing! The most popular dressing on the planet, they have none... On purpose! Never again will we go to this tasteless restaurant!

Totally great place "on the beach" (walking distance from Pass-a-Grille) for breakfast or lunch.. You'll get a feel for the old Pass-a-grille, as dining here seems like a step back in time. In one form or another, the Sea Horse has been here since 1938 (originally it was a bar). We've been eating here for at least 30 years, and I almost always have the blueberry pancakes. Though the waffles and french toast are also good, the blueberry pancakes are a cherished memory for me (though I do wish they were served with a real blueberry syrup, instead of maple). FYI, there are two separate menus - One for breakfast, one for lunch, and they don't overlap much, so be sure to get the one you want, or both. Oh, and new on the lunch menu is a pressed Cuban sandwich, at the one at the table next to us looked very good. Sit outside if the weather is nice. Also be sure to check out the pictures on the wall. There some pretty cool pictures of old Pass-a-Grille, including one of The Hurricane before it went sky high. PS. If you are prepping for a Shell Island excursion from the the Merry Pier ( yelp.com/biz/merry-pier-… ), this is a great place to eat beforehand, as it's right across the street.

Good place for breakfast off the main strip of beach on pass a grille in St pete's Bch, by the fishing pier. waitress was friendly and attentive although most of the other staff wern't as friendly. The resturant was a quaint rustic style country atmosphere with lots of locals. Prices for food was good, food good, we just had breakfast. Definitely would return if in area. Closed on Tuesday open for breakfast/lunch only.

Great local place to stop in for some classic breakfast food. Eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon was crispy, and the slow cooked grits really hit the spot. I also appreciated the room temperature butter! Quick service and fun ambience.

I really disliked this place. I was on vacation with a few girlfriends and was recommended this breakfast spot by a waiter at Snapper's. Obviously don't take advice from him, lol. I think the location was the only thing it had going for itself. It was right by the water and had a nice patio area to eat out on if the weather is nice. The service was horrible. I was laughed and snarked at for asking if there were any substitutions allowed, like I was an idiot who should have known better. That was extremely rude and uncalled for. She was also very inattentive and slow. I had 2 eggs over easy, bacon and sausage. I paid almost $10.00 for my meal which was extremely overpriced for the amount of food I got. I got 2 slices of bacon that were shriveled up and very thin, so it was like eating air. The eggs were decent and the sausage was extremely spicy and that's the only kind they have. There was good shopping nearby and a small farmer's type market a block or two away (on a Sunday) so that was the only thing I liked about eating here. We ended up being near some cool things to see and delicious ice cream to eat nearby since the food did not fill us up.

The best place for breakfast I've ever been! I eat here every time I visit St Pete. The food is great, prices are cheap and the service is fast and friendly! There's a reason they've been open for 75 years!!

We we not impressed. The place is quaint but the food was only average which led to disappointment in the end. I Ordered a crab cake basket which consisted of one very small, flavorless homemade greasy crab cake and about a dozen frozen French fries served on a huge platter/basket. It wasn't a good presentation. My wife ordered a burger and fries. The bun had some appearances of being real but again the burger was very, very small on that huge bun. Our ice tea came from a gallon jug. Luckily we kept trying and ordered a slice of key lime pie. It was very good. Just not worth the price when we factored in the rest of the meal.

Disappointing and bland shrimp and grits. Service was very good, but the food is blah. Maybe best to stick to the tried and true fried fish sandwich. The menu says, "ask us about our craft beers," so I asked the waitress. She said, "I don't know anything about craft beers. We have Sam Adams, which is not on the menu."

It was very busy for breakfast at 10:00 AM on a Monday morning. They have a typical diner menu without high beach pricing like you would get on Gulf Blvd a few miles away. All of our meals were good and not too greasy or heavy. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and willing to work with food allergies despite being busy. The kids ordered and ate while we waiting for one more person in our party to meet us. We also hung out chatting afterwards, but we never felt rushed by the staff.

My favorite breakfast in the entire world. I've been going for 28 years and I'm 28. The grits are unbelievable and the cinnamon toast is a great addition to any order. Omelettes are my go to for main dish, add American cheese, onions, tomatoes and mushrooms!

I just came back from Sea Horse and, as most people have said, it was pretty busy. I showed up around 9:30 AM on a Saturday and didn't have to wait at all...but we opted to sit inside. I believe that there would've been about a 10 minute wait to sit outside. I opted for a short stack of pancakes and a couple pieces of french toast. Our waitress was great and very polite and it only took about ten minutes for us to get our food. The pancakes came with a small plastic cup that had either butter or margarine in it. The french toast also were accompanied by a similar cup full of powdered sugar. The food was okay. It certainly wasn't bad but it also wasn't spectacular either. Would I go back? Sure, but the food was just okay. The fact that the food came out quick and it had a nice "beachy" scene was nice. This location does take credit cards (some previous reviewers were not sure if they now accept credit cards) and I believe that they open at 8 AM and close around 2 or 2:30 PM daily.

Nothing fancy - super solid breakfast spot. I've never had lunch here. When visiting Pass-A-Grille we walk over from Inn On The Beach daily. It is small and charming with absolutely NO pretension anywhere. The coffee needs work - after day one we brought our own. If you're friendly the servers will be friendly - the reverse is also true. It's breakfast food cooked with locals in mind - not snotty tourists. Stick with the eggs, hash, pancakes, or french toast. Here's a favorite experience that will tell you a bit about the atmosphere. Children ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SIT AT THE BAR. There are signs EVERYWHERE. On one visit there was a family of four nearby. I don't know if they had finished eating or were waiting on their food but the 2 kids were running amuck and the parents were being jerks and just letting them. They climbed up on the bar stools and the waitress told them very firmly but politely to get down and go back to their table. She also "reminded" the parents children were not allowed at the bar. The kids appeared shocked as though no one had ever told them what to do and expected them to do it. Back to the table they went for about one minute then back to the bar. That's when hilarity ensued and this place secured a spot in my heart! As the children climbed back up on the bar stools the waitress raised her voice and said for the entire (small) restaurant to hear something along the lines of "Children are NOT allowed to sit at the bar now get the &*!@# down and go back to your table and stay there!" she then advised the parents they were doing a horrible job and perhaps should go somewhere else. The locals on Pass-A-Grille are generally intolerable of tourists who behave like tourists - this is one of the many reasons I love this little Florida treasure!

Great breakfast spot! It gets really crowded so go early or off hours. When I went it was cash only, don't know if they've changed that. I was there in December. The service was friendly, everything came out perfectly cooked too!

  • Jamie S.

This is a solid 3-star breakfast/brunch joint. The service was pretty fast. The food was good. Nothing exciting on the menu. It's your typical eggs and pancakes breakfast place. The only "interesting" items were the blueberry pancakes and the pecan french toast (I think it was french toast?). I ordered the blueberry pancakes, which came with nothing else, so I also got a side of ham. Both were very good, but nothing special. My husband had the corn beef hash special - again, good, not great. Everything's priced as it should be - under $10. And the wait on a Saturday morning was only about 15 minutes. If you want a better menu selection with insanely better tasting food at comparable pricing but don't mind a longer wait, then check out Beverly's La Croisette (we've eaten there twice and would return there again rather then going back to Sea Horse). And if you want to splurge even more, check out Steam. Both are about 10 mins. north from Sea Horse.

Great place for breakfast. I haven't been here in years, but what I remember is that the food is good and the service is good. There is a nice outdoor area for eating which is good when it's not hot out. I remember the pancakes being good and delicious.

I was really excited to try this place based on some of the reviews and the location. As soon as we walked in the door the hostess was SO rude and it was embarrassing! I had my 3 young children and my aunt with me. She asked how many....I said "4 and then one high chair". She mocked me and said "looks like 5 to me.....I'm right or am I seeing double?!?!" I let that one go....ask to sit outside on the patio and she told me (with great annoyance) that we would have to wait. We did....and then she brought is in and showed us to an inside table! We politely asked if we could have the outside table and she said it was dirty and would take her over 10 minutes to clean it. She was so mean and nasty about it! Hated us from the moment we walked in! we ended up leaving!! Hindsight we should have complained but we were flustered and I didn't want to set a horrible example for the kids as we were pretty furious! Go to the Paradise Grille. The people are so nice and the view is to die for!

Awesome little place right across from the water. Their only open from the morning until 2pm. I've had their burgers and the grouper sandwich, both were pretty good. The restaurant itself has a long history and you can tell with the decor and all the pictures around the place. The staff is very friendly and the prices are very good. They have outdoor dining but I have not sat out there so I can't tell if it's good or not. One warning though, if you want to go I would recommend a weekday because the place is packed on weekends.

The Sea Horse is a magical diner that seems, as though, it would only exist in my imagination. Friendly wait staff that will chat with you about your life, but not in a way that will annoy you. A gorgeous view of the bay and of Merry Pier, including the biggest pelican hangout in all of the Tampa Bay area. Really, really good food that is just like your mom would cook for you. There is just something about this place that keeps me coming back. It feels like stepping back in time, with the old-school decorations and the super-cheap prices. The menu isn't full of items that would be prepared by an Iron Chef - don't expect unique or crazy combinations, or any gourmet ingredients. But this isn't something that should be held against them; I find it, actually, to be the reason they shine so brightly. The Sea Horse serves classic, homemade, delicious diner food - simple as that. Pancakes, french toast, omelettes, scrambled eggs, breakfast sandwiches - all done to perfection, for cheaper than you could make for yourself. Everything that they do, they do very well. The pecan pancakes and the blueberry pancakes are to DIE FOR - get the short stack and a side of breakfast meat and you will be set for the day. They also have great biscuits and gravy, and as other reviewers have mentioned, the breakfast potatoes are fantastic as well. They have good coffee - I promise, the girls will keep your coffee mug full and hot. They offer great service that is always fast and prompt despite the crowd. They have good lunch too - really great grouper sandwiches and delicious french fries. While I am personally a big breakfast person, if you feel like lunch, you will not be disappointed. They open at 8a.m. and close around 2 or 2:30 - don't ever try to go for dinner, or you will be disappointed. They are also closed one day a week - I believe it is Tuesdays, but don't hold it against me if I am wrong on this day. Always enjoy chatting with Deb and the other girls when I am in town from Indiana. Even though I am only in town once or twice a year, I always feel like I am coming back home when I walk in the door at the Sea Horse.

The Seahorse restaurant is located in a tiny part of St. Pete called Pass A Grille. The restaurant sits right across the street from the water and is on the "main street" which includes several cute boutiques and other little cafes. Seahorse has been around for years and years and alot of the staff has worked there a long time too. Classic little mom and pop place. I read on other reviews that they didn't take credit cards but they now do. We went there for breakfast on a Monday morning and they were even on a small wait then but we found a seat at the small counter. My boyfriend had the homemade cornbeef hash and he liked it. I had the ham-egg-cheese sandwhich and I thought that was good as well. Nothing super special but nice homemade food. If you are in that area and don't want to go to a chain restaurant (why would you?) I recommend trying out the Seahorse.

Old timey Florida diner style place right across from Pass-a-Grille Beach. Ordered a burger and a fish sandwich, service was friendly and fast and food was good. Prices were pretty reasonable for a restaurant near the beach. Would go again for sure.

My search for a local breakfast joint while on a recent vacation ended at the Sea Horse, a quaint little establishment down in the heart of Pass-A-Grille. It was recommended to me by a staff member of my hotel, even though I'm pretty sure she was supposed to be recommending the restaurant on the hotel's property (don't worry, I won't tell)! Anyway, the location alone made the Sea Horse well worth the 10 minute drive. The building sits on the corner of Pass-A-Grille Way and 8th Avenue, a street full of cute shops with local flair. After Yelping the place and reading about it's popularity, I figured I would have to wait for a table, but I actually got seated right away and chose to dine outside, where I got a fantastic view of the bay and a peaceful, easy feeling while enjoying my breakfast. The service was great as well, and the waitress was even thoughtful enough to pack silverware with the to-go meal I ordered for my snoozing husband back at the hotel. She was very attentive and like many of the locals in St. Pete, chatted with me about the weather and where I was from, which always helps make an experience more satisfying. The only disappointing parts about the experience were the menu options, or rather, lack of menu options. The choices, while extremely affordable, were very lackluster. I was expecting much more unique options considering the charm of the restaurant. However, my fried ham, egg and cheese sandwich definitely satisfied my hunger, and the breakfast potatoes had just the amount of seasoning and spice. I ordered the standard eggs, sausage, and toast for my husband, who also found nothing to complain about on taste. The entire meal also cost less than $20, which was very much a relief considering it was toward the end of our vacation and we were running low on cash! If you're looking for a good, solid, breakfast and a location with fantastic charm, visit the Sea Horse and you will be happy as a clam (although unfortunately, you won't find anything as unique as clams on the menu!).

The clam chowder was good and the cuban was ok. The view is beautiful and food is inexpensive.

This place is in a nice quiet location, but the coffee is slightly darkened water the "3 Egg" omelet is a perfect square shaped 1/4" tall thing with about as much taste as McDonald's, the fried potatoes were cold and barely browned and the toast was the smallest piece of bread I have ever seen. The butter was not butter and the only jelly was Grape flavored. Based on the photographs and news articles laminated under the yellowed polyurethane the place had its heyday in the early to mid-80s and is still living on its laurels. Avoid it, most hotels have better food and if you're a local and cook this bad then you aren't looking at Yelp anyway! It is clean and friendly and small town friendly, but really some gas stations are that too. I am rating this because the food is really that lacking.

If you're looking for a standard breakfast of eggs and toast, you'll find a perfectly acceptable plateful here. It's really pretty to get here through the quaint beachside town of Pass-A-Grille, so that sets a nice tone to the meal. The patio has a lot of charm (mostly due to being able to eat outside on a January morning). A couple of things I can save you some money on... The coffee -- you're better off getting your coffee fix somewhere else, unless you like hot water. The bacon -- there's almost nothing left, once cooked, of what had to be anemic slices to begin with. All I could think was "that poor pig..." No waffles -- what?? Also, I ordered my eggs over-easy, because there's nothing better after a night out in Tampa than using a piece of toast to push around a pile of buttery grits with the richness of runny yolks and a splash of hot sauce running through it... minus the "egg snot". Gross. That's not hard to remove from a raw cracked egg, and I wish they had taken the time. With the friendly service and reasonable prices, though, it's good if you're in the neighborhood.

Very straightforward food- no frills but prepared perfectly, every time. You can't find a much better breakfast spot! There is usually a wait on the weekends but it's not long and besides, you can pass the time with a walk out onto the Merry pier right across the street. Good service and an excellent hangover spot for late Sunday mornings!

Pretty standard breakfast place. Outdoor seating was nice. The menu was very limited, and a little pricey for breakfast but the staff was friendly and, except for the thin and limp bacon, the food was tasty!

Not bad and we had a very nice server. The food is just ok but it's a decent place and convenient to grab a quick bite. If you are looking for really good food you might want to go someplace else. Certainly nothing wrong with this place though.

The best grits you will ever have. They will make you weep. The biscuits and sausage gravy are a close second. This would be a 5 star if they served a decent cup of coffee. It's warm water with a little brown crayon. Bring your own.

Very disappointing. I remember this place as a kid, and thought I had fond memories. Then we went while on vacation. They evidently stopped trying long ago. From the super thin bacon, to the generic ketchup, and no splenda for the coffee this place is cutting corners everywhere it can! The service was less than stellar as well. My wife hardly touched her breakfast, and the server never even asked, "How was it?" She just dropped the check and moved on. Clearly this place only cares about butts in seats, and turning a buck. Considering it was packed I don't think that is necessary. I won't be returning, and that is sad.

Had the Cheesy Grits with Cajun Shrimp because I got there too late for breakfast (noon weekdays, 1:00 pm weekend). Very friendly staff. Contrary to other reports, coffee I had was fine. Key Lime Pie was okay if whipped cream on top.

Typical greasy breakfast food. My husband loved the french toast. Waitress slapped the coffee on the table so that it spilled everywhere and poured caffinated in a decaff cup. Wouldn't revisit.

Visiting my friend and we went here twice. Nice location right by the water. Parking was a little tough though one day. Not a lot of things on the menu, but that was okay with us. Everything was reasonably priced and the service was friendly. The place was cute inside. We really liked our breakfasts.

This is a tasty value for breakfast- served until 1p if last night kept you up late. A block off the beach. Eat inside or out and service is 1st class. Comfortable, clean and very reasonable. Only drawback - no Amex.

Ate here twice for breakfast on vacation. Solid traditional breakfast choices. Good food, good service in a cool old restaurant. Nothing fancy here. Sorry we did not get to try it for lunch. Prices are right as well.

The best grits you will ever have. They will make you weep. The biscuits and sausage gravy are a close second. This would be a 5 star if they served a decent cup of coffee. It's warm water with a little brown crayon. Bring your own.

Crowded, but not a crazy long wait. Breakfast was good and not too pricey. Service wasn't the best, but I wouldn't call it slow either since it was crowded.

Very straightforward food- no frills but prepared perfectly, every time. You can't find a much better breakfast spot!

Great breakfast spot with a great history. I always get the Grits with the meal.

We walk to breakfast at the Seahorse every morning (except Tuesday) during our annual visit to St. Pete. Cute place with a friendly staff. My husband said the biscuits could be better and I think the coffee could be stronger, but overall, breakfast is consistently good and very reasonably priced.

Awesome local spot. Breakfast for us is about the ambiance and the service. This place is great. Food is good!

My favorite breakfast in the entire world. I've been going for 28 years and I'm 28. The grits are unbelievable and the cinnamon toast is a great addition to any order. Omelettes are my go to for main dish, add American cheese, onions, tomatoes and mushrooms!

Typical greasy breakfast food. My husband loved the french toast. Waitress slapped the coffee on the table so that it spilled everywhere and poured caffinated in a decaff cup. Wouldn't revisit.

Great breakfast spot! It gets really crowded so go early or off hours. When I went it was cash only, don't know if they've changed that. I was there in December. The service was friendly, everything came out perfectly cooked too!
