Best burrito in St.Aug!! I never leave this place hungry! Mahi burrito is fantastic and the vibe is really chill. The only place I go for burritos in St.Aug...do it!!

Everything you've heard is true! This place rocks. Only had the tacos (they're so good that it's hard to change) but I hear the burritos are just as good. Beef and chicken tacos are delicious... the perfect amount of spice so that it compliments the meat without overwhelming it. They come with chips, so order a side of guac to go with and you'll be happy beyond words!

Atmosphere: It has a very local feel. As you enter the parking lot, you can definitely tell that the place used to be a gas station. There are couches upon entering and a few tables inside and on the deck. Service: The employees were very laid back, very nice, and offered their recommendations. It was near closing time and one of the employee came out to let us know and ask if we would like anything else which was considerate. Food: Simple menu (Tacos, Burritos, and Salads) which is nice to see. Had the Fish, Beef, and Chicken Tacos. The fish was a tad bit dry, most likely because it was the end of the day. Otherwise, they were all good. Guacamole was okay, didn't have much flavor. Cost: $15 The price was reasonable. Overall: I would go back and go out my way (if i was in St. Augustine) to eat there. Just an FYI - Cash Only

Reminds me of the local taco joints near beachy areas. It's a cash only place, but there is an ATM inside. Mostly bar top seating but there's a couple tables with chairs, couch seating and outdoor seating as well. Good breakfast burritos and tacos. I got the Mojo Sunrise Burrito. It was messy, but very good. The "what up sun' chicken taco was also very good. It's a corn tortilla inside a flour tortilla. My son who is a picky eater, loved his taco, so it's gotta be good if he ate the entire thing. It's a bit pricey $3.50 for a taco and $6 for a burrito, but all in all, it was tasty.

Was a great place before they rernovated the outside. Now the food is double the price. Same crappy interior just higher prices. What a shame. Wish they did not renovate and kept their prices.

One word- amazing. People are super nice. Casual atmosphere. Good beer options and awesome tacos!! I had the tempeh prepared with guac in place of cheese and it was great. I only wish it was bigger because I was so sad when it was gone. My only not great comment is the chips were not homemade which would have boosted up a notch.

the quintessential taco spot, once open during twilight hours catering to woozy party goers, mojo's maintains its appeal as a hip eatery. like a set location for some lost "Half Baked" scene, Mojo's creates hand built delights of double stacked tacos and more. you can easily spend ten bucks for two specialty taco's. I suggest you try the chicken first...then you'll understand why their food is worth every penny!

What else can i say? Just go there and try them. It's the best. I have tried the beef, shrimp and fish tacos. They are all good. The owners Joe and Laura are there to cook and serve. We're from Jersey and we visited St. Aug for the Easter break. And my sis Carol and my father Eddie have always insisted us to try them. We ate there 4 x during our 5-day break. All worth it. And cheap eats too and very low key.

Must try the tofu tacos-you will not believe they are tofu. Service is great and cool vibe too

Across a side street from Sleep Inn, we were about to bypass it headed elsewhere, but decided this was a better choice. FYI: CASH ONLY. Was very pleasantly surprised to see choice of tempeh or tofu as protein choice along with stereotypical fish, chicken or beef. Even saw breakfast menu on side wall of menu board. Simple menu: choose taco, burrito or salad, then protein. Ala carte is beans and rice, guacamole, salsa etc. Total cost for 6'6" hubby and I (5'2") was $27 for tempeh taco, tempeh salad, queso and chips, beans and rice, and 2 large ice teas. Take note, if you're a spice wuss like me, ask for mild spiciness. Hubby added extra hot sauce to his taco anyway 'cuz that's how he rolls. Tempeh was grilled, moist and tasty. Hubby's taco was served like Gordita -- soft shell holding hard shell stuffed with grilled tempeh, lettuce, tomatoes and hot sauce. Food is served in to-go containers with plastic utensils provided. Drinks served in large styrofoam cups. But there are tables to eat at as well, inside and out. Decent-sized parking lot. Looks like building used to be auto repair shop. If I lived in St. Augustine, I would be a regular customer.

Stopped in here on our way back from the beach to downtown Saint Augustine and I am so glad we did! The tacos are delicious. We ordered a beef, shrimp, and fish(mahi) tacos. They are hard tacos line with a soft taco around it which is a great way to prevent the tortilla from ripping! I read previous review that said they were really expensive but we paid $20 for three tacos, a beer, and side of guac. The shrimp and fish tacos were the more expensive ones, understandably. All tacos/burritos come with chips too. I didn't think it was too bad. Looks like a burrito might be better value but I was more than full after two tacos. Pro tip: cash only, ATM on site tho.

I've been driving by this place for years and never knew they existed, until recently the city would not permit their sign so unless you were from the area, for the past seven years they've been practically invisible from the road. We noticed the sign today and decided to give them a tried. We each tried a beef taco and with one large drink it was $10 I thought this was a great value. The ingredients tasted fresh and we loved the fact that the hard crunchy shell was wrapped in a soft tortilla so even though these tacos are majorly over-stuffed they hold together well. The high quality lean ground beef was seasoned and cooked until the meat was very fine similar to the texture you find at Taco Bell but much better tasting. The restaurant was clean and the owners were very friendly and the food was served up fast, hot and it was all delicious. They also serve breakfast I can't wait to give that a try. All in all a great experience.

We went to Saint Augustine,FL. This restaurant is by the castle of Saint Martin. Very good food. I didn't see any mexicans but the food tasted just as good. And the queso. Geez! I can put that stuff on anything. Will recomend.

He had fish & chicken taco's & Nachos, excellent food. If you are wanting nice decor this is not your place. The Taco's were top shelf

Road bound and starving, this place is for you! 1. Cash only, but there is an ATM. 2. Service is quick and correct. Your food will come in paper bags. 3. The burritos are a decent size. About Chipotle size, just a tad smaller. 4. Seating is both inside and out, but most of the outside doesn't have sun cover. 5. Once biting into the burrito, what I loved most was the buttery flavor of the rice and black beans. Delicious! My only complaint was that it lacked some flavor. Some salt would have given this place 5 stars. It just lacked that extra umph of flavor. The chips had salt though, so I'm not sure where lack of salt in the burrito came from. Hmmm.. If I had not needed to drive back across the bridge to reach it, I would have gone again. :)

Literally 10 flies at my table and their prices left me questioning why I stopped in. I had to wait in my car because the flies were too much to deal with while I waited on our food. CASH ONLY HERE, heads up, I rarely carry cash (who does now a days). Ordered avocado taco, avocado was mushy and tasted like it had gone bad. Chips, stale and chewy. Burrito that my friend ordered was just ok. We definitely won't be coming back, was a pretty disappointing experience.

Great tacos. They are a little expensive, but worth it. The beach style atmosphere is perfect for relaxing. There is inside and outside seating. I like the shrimp burrito. It's huge and can be shared. They cut it in half for you so it's manageable. The shrimp are large and the burrito is very flavorful. The burrito is about $8. This is a cash only establishment, but there is an ATM located inside. There are several beers and sodas to choose from, in addition to a fountain soda machine. This is a good place to grab a bite if you're camping at Anastasia State Park and want to get out.

Me and the boyfriend went for lunch today. We love us some tacos. We always do research before we go anywhere. I was a bit weary of reviews, but we decided to check it out since we were new to the area. Between two people we spent $22. We each had two tacos. I had chicken and fish. The boyfriend had beef and fish. Everyone was right about the fish taco. It was awesome. Sucha exquisite flavor, I loved it! Chicken was good and beef was mehhh. Everyone was right about the chips. They're like the ones you get at a run down bowling alley. Stale and tasteless. I can't believe they haven't stepped up their game by now. I liked it, but I wouldn't give it a 2nd try.

  • Donald R.

The service here is pour the food is even poorer if you want all processed food and nothing fresh I would rather go to Taco Bell then this place the queso is the same stuff you get in the jar the guacamole is premade the shrimp was not even fresh shrimp everything is frozen garbage I have no idea how this place has four stars. It's cash only which isn't a big deal but they have ATM inside the restaurant I would not recommend this place to anyone stay away! We got for tacos one quesadilla queso and a side of guacamole and it was $40

    (1)
  • Edward J.

I don't think I can recommend this place. Nothing was that good and I tried four kinds of tacos and the nachos. The chips are out of a bag, and not a good brand. The meats tasted reheated and boring. There are no smells or sights that indicate any real cooking is going on. The taste is nothing special. I have a stomach ache. If you are looking for authentic Mexican tacos, forget it. Its actually an insult to Mexicans and tacos.

We stumbled upon Mojo's after a long day on the beach, and we are so glad we did! The atmosphere is very laid back, & I was completely comfortable walking in to order while wearing a swimsuit cover up. Our family ordered a mixed variety of tacos & burritos, and they were ALL excellent...but the shrimp was my personal favorite. We sipped on some Kona Longboard ale on their side patio while waiting for our food...which was a very short wait...about 8-10 minutes. Everything was so yummy that we went back the next morning for breakfast! Their bacon breakfast burritos are amazing. They have the home fries in them, instead of on the side, reminiscent of some of our favorite California burritos. Definitely give Mojos a try, & bring cash if you do! (No cards accepted, but they also have an ATM inside)

Easily the best fish taco I've ever had. I don't review anything but I felt compelled after I ate it...

Perfect spot for quick dinner with kids. Mojo sauce is very tasty. Texture of tacos is great--double layer of hard and soft shell is perfect.

Hands down best breakfast burrito ever... (Ranchero). It's nice getting a meal and thinking, "wow, that was delicious... I know I couldn't make that at home and no other place can pull this off." Laid back and right off the beach.

I have had fish tacos from many places in Florida. My fav, California Tacos To Go, in Tampa. However, the fish tacos w the double decker style is a close second. Nice hint of blackened spice and the sig mojo sauce makes a tasty combo. Order two fish tacos w a beer and you'll be happy. Do give into temptation and add another taco or go back for one more. If you need something else get another beer from the reach in cooler. Cool chill place, patio on side w picnic tables or high top chairs. Now I'm ready for another concert at The St Augustine Ampitheatre. Darius he we come! Mojo's Tacos is a must stop.

  • Dan S.

I would give it a zero if I could. The food was horrible and service was not any better. The tacos were way overpriced and soggy. After a ridiculously high tab we all left hungry and had to go somewhere else to eat. I don't know why the locals like this place. All the other restaurants around them are great.

Really have loved this place and always stop in when in town. Gotta tell ya, the past three visits...including today, the food has made us sick. I couldn't pinpoint what it was unfortunately until today. First and second time- super hot outside, hotter inside, and had the tofu tacos. There was something different about the taste but I just thought it was a change in ingredients. Today, we got chicken tacos- after three of us one of our tacos, we spoke up about the smell. We ended up throwing the others out and leaving immediately. 9 hours later, everyone sick. Thank God our three year old didn't want to eat this afternoon.

  • Suze F.

Good fish tacos and burritos, but a little pricey. I can see charging a little extra if your getting a plate and silverware or tableside service, but this place is basically a carryout hut with no amenities. $14 for three fish tacos...no rice, no beans, no drink. Everything is ala carte. ..the tacos were good.

    (3)
  • Megan S.

Visited this shop based on other Yelp reviews, and I have to say I was a little disappointed. The tacos/burritos were OK, but I feel like everything was a little over priced for the amount of food we received. If you like tempeh, it was awesome! Definitely 4 stars for that alone. If you're looking for a unique experience and don't mind paying extra for tacos then by all means, check this place out. Don't forget cash, there's a 2.50 surcharge for the ATM.

Hands down the best hole in the wall restaurant you will find. Even being from a seafood coastal town, they have fantastic shrimp tacos. Cash only. They have an atm. I ran a race that morning and was short on cash. Not only did she tell me it was fine, she snuck another taco in my bag without me knowing! Nicest, friendliest staff and best tacos in St. Augustine!!!!! If you are anywhere close, you HAVE TO GO!

This was one of those "THANK GOD FOR YELP!" moments. We headed to St Aug on a Friday night to see a show at the Amphiteatre. We didn't have a lot of time to get dinner and were considering picking up a few items from Publix when I decided to check Yelp. We found this gem that we NEVER would have noticed otherwise - total hole in the wall next to a gas station. But these were some fantastic tacos - absolutely loved them, the double wall (soft shell outside of hard shell with melted cheese in the middle) was a nice surprise. This place is tiny and if it's rainy and you can't sit outside you might not be able to find a seat.

Fresh food, locals, usually great service. I've been before where a female server wasn't too friendly. Today there were two males working and they both were very friendly. CASH ONLY!! But they have an ATM inside. You order at the register. We had breakfast- I had the mojo ranchero burrito which has eggs, potatoes, black beans, cheese, pico, and guacamole!! I asked for mine without potatoes and it was super delish!!!!

Came in with 3 car loads of people and the staff was all over it. Love the place! Great shrimp tacos!

  • Neila Z.

Great tacos .... Nothing else is worth eating. Our chips were slightly stale. The beans and rice were just that, beans and rice. Straight out of a can, dry, no flavor. They only take cash, which we knew but it's still a hassle. For tacos, check it out ..... Otherwise, just go get a sub at Publix and be done with it.

Best Fish Taco in St. Augustine. Great local vibe. Bring your paper cause they don't take plastic.

Pulled up, noticed one of the cooks was smoking outside. Walked back in directly into the kitchen and started slanging cheese onto the grill. No hand washing, no gloves, nope.

This place is awesome! Everything tastes so fresh and is made to order. Cash only but there is an ATM inside. The beef burrito is my fave.

Right price, nice folks, killer chow! We had the blackened Mahi burrito and the bacon egg and cheese on ginormous English muffin. Soooooo freakin good! Just wish I had room for a taco....

    (5)
  • Elisabeth N.

Fish taco was great! Smaller than advertised and a bit pricey. But the flavor is really fantastic. I'd pass on the guacamole and salsa. Not so great. I'd also take a pass on the extreme heat inside. Overall, I'd say hit it up for the tacos.

A local told my 11 year old about this place. Went there last night before we headed home. He had 3 shrimp tacos! I had the chicken burrito - better than Qdoba by miles. Eat outside cash only. Would visit again!

If you look at my check in's and my reviews, it is obvious that I eat more mexican food then anything else, so it's only evident that tacos remain part of my daily diet. I was out and about with a friend, just exploring the area when I suggested we stop at Mojo's Tacos. It has a very beachy vibe on the inside, probably run by surfers. I started looking at the menu and just knew that the tacos had to be good, because they were gourmet prices. As we approached the counter, the cashier made us very uncomfortable.. she didn't greet us or even ask what we wanted, she just stared at us like we were supposed to know the deal. I paused.. waiting for her, but decided I will just go ahead and order, since she clearly wasn't going to acknowledge me. She still didn't say anything, just rang it up and told us the total.. we paid and took a seat. After around 25 minutes, we finally got our tacos. We both ordered a beef taco with lettuce, cheese and sour cream only. It takes me less then 25 minutes to make this meal at home. The restaurant wasn't busy, and there were no courses before it. It is just an in and out restaurant. The taco itself was pretty good. They were bigger than normal tacos, which helped explain the price increase some what. I will probably stop in again, to see if maybe the first time was just a goof up. I'll update next visit. . .

Outstanding fish tacos! Being from CA, I take my fish tacos seriously. The shrimp and fish are amazing. Great surf shack vibe with good beer in the fridge. Love this place and it's "must stop" every time we are in st Augustine.

Decent taco and burrito joint in a less touristy (by appearances anyway) part of town. Mojo's Tacos is a very small restaurant with a surfing and beach theme located on A1A between the historical downtown area and Saint Augustine Beach. I had a chicken burrito. It was huge and delicious, and at around $6.50 a great deal! It was better than Moe's or the other chains by far. It WAS this kind of gringo burrito, however, which is exactly what one would expect from an establishment like this. As others have pointed out, CASH ONLY though there is an ATM on site. The burritos come with a side, but don't bother getting chips as a side. They taste just like store-bought yellow rounds. Also, if you get salsa to go with them, you will be paying $1 for a tiny container of what is essentially pico de gallo. They have several coolers (relics of the gas station days?) stocked with bottled drinks like Gatorade, Sweet Lea Tea, and certain beers like Pabst Blue Ribbon. Also Pepsi products in the fountain. In short, this is a great choice if you are in the neighborhood around the lighthouse, Alligator Farm, or Anastasia Beach State Park, but keep it simple and stick with the tacos or burritos.

  • Teresa V.

Better than average, but not enough for me to give 4 stars. I had a chicken taco and a beef taco. The chicken taco was the better of the two. The beef taco was dry and light on flavor, thus required the addition of hot sauce. My husband had the chicken burrito - same chicken as the taco but a lot of it. The food is reasonably priced (although cash only). It is nice to be able to get a beer with the food. However, I likely will not return. I prefer Mi Carnal.

Great tacos. They do it right. Cheese between a soft and hard shell. And the mojo sauce is delicious. Cash only and they cook it all fresh

  • Devan H.

I love this place! I am picky about my tacos and this place serves some of the best! Not too pricey but fish tacos are $4.75 each so it's a little more than most places. Salsa isn't that great, but the guacamole is good. They only take cash but have an ATM inside.

    (5)
  • Isaac A.

Great fish tacos! I love how they have the hard shell and soft shell together! They have a nice little patio. Nothing fancy about this place but you get good food so be happy, just like the service.

    (5)
  • Eugene P.

Wow, this place looks sketchy! Wasn't sure where to go to put my order but the nice staff quickly pointed out the very simple menu next to the registers. We heard that the tacos were good so we ordered a fish taco and a ground angus beef taco. I didn't realize beef tacos could taste that good! The place had couches but wasn't sure if I would sit on them since you could definitely tell a lot of people didn't heed the warning of saucy tacos. There is an outdoor picnic table but not much in terms of a place to sit to eat. Definitely a must try if you pass by it.

Got one better......the Shrimp Tacos are "Phatastic".........not a word I generally use but this local Taqueria is indescribable.......best let your palate be the judge on this one...... This intimate lil joint is great for for the munchies or a full on Ta-codown. Great character, owners are a blast, and the beer is icy cold....... Live on and thrive Mojo's Taco.........

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
