Went in on a Saturday evening with a group of 10 women. Our server Corey made the atmosphere fun, had great recommendations and did a great job. The food was wonderful. Great experience from start to finish.

Amazing as always! This time we had the mac and cheese as a starter. For the main entrees we had the shepherds pie, shrimp flatbread, mussels and fish sandwich.

The food was excellent and tasty, I had the muscles and fish of the day which was cobia served with grilled shrimp on the side. The problem with this place is definitely the service or lack there of. I'm not sure if they constantly under staff the restaurant or what but extremely long waits just for orders and refills of even just water. We sat at outside tables with fire pits in the middle, great atmosphere great food you just need to focus on their service.

The view is nice. I had fish and chips which were amazing!!! The fries were stale and service wasn't great but once they brought me a new batch it was heaven.

We had to wait a little for our food, but it was all delicious! Our group had a full variety of things from seafood to burgers and sandwiches... even a kid's meal. All of it was so good, and the mac & cheese was creamy and yummy. We enjoyed sitting on the top balcony with a nice view of the water. Fun time for all!

So. This place is awful. Walked in and stood for 10 min trying to get a seat in a completely empty restaurant. Drinks took 30 min to come out. Tasted like sunny d without champagne. But in a pith we. Food took an hour plus to come out. They ran out of champagne for brunch even though we paid for bottomless mimosas. And the food was subpar. Go to mcdonalds, service and food is better.

Delicious seafood. We had the oysters and their sea food bouillabaise. Fast friendly service with great ambiance.

Went here with my buddy to grab a drink and bite to eat. Sat at the bar, bartender was helpful and very attentive to assist and explain different beers as I don't drink beer often enough to know the flavors. Food was OK, ordered a burger; wasn't cooked how I asked for, but close enough to not be a bother. Fries are amazing here. I did find it to be a lil dark inside, and cluttered with random stuff. Only thing I saw that I know shouldn't have happened, was a server that grabbed a straw and "stirred" the head back on a tapped poured beer.

Went here on St. Patrick's Day of all days, and had an absolute blast! Had Guinness, Harp, Killian's, and Magner's Irish Cider all on tap. The people there were great, and the bartenders were really nice. They even let a family stay at the bar that had green beer (they weren't serving green beer). Definitely want to makes coming here a St. Patty's Day tradition, even if I live 6 hours away. As if I needed an excuse to visit St. Augustine.

Best damn Irish Bar ever. Kaiser is the best bartender we have ever had and we have a lot in Savannah. Love this town 2nd only to Savannah Ga.

So good! Friendly service, great food and drinks and in a really laid back kind of atmosphere makes for an overall great experience. The fire in the center of our table wouldn't light for the server and a manager immediately ran over and fixed it, even lifting the marble table and giving the fellas at the table a free round for lending him a hand. While everything was great, I would have to say it seems as though their bar gets weeded a bit and may need more bartenders, but other than waiting for our delicious drinks... this place is awesome.

Cozy place with an island flair. Good atmosphere but gets pretty hot outside despite the fans is the yard. The staff is very friendly. I would visit again.

Only the first time here-but it was amazing! Sat outside on the bay, I had a Kilkenny beer-served on nitrogen. Food was presented nicely and tasted even better! This place has traditional Irish food- loved it! Will try to be back before I head to Ft.Lauderdale

Waited 30 minutes for overpriced pub food. The waiter never checked back after taking order except for the bill. Small portion for the corned beef and cabbage even though it was in the $20-30 range. Small soup was mediocre and $8. Bar and dining menus reflect different prices for beer. Will never come back.

Easily my favorite restaurant in St. Augustine, I have so many great memories here. I have eaten in for large dinners with my entire extended family, intimate dates with my girlfriend and also guy's meals with my dad and brother. Regardless of whether I have eaten inside or outdoors at the backyard, Meehan's never disappoints, great food and drink. However, the highlight of this place to me is the Shark Tank drink offered on the patio - it has fueled more than a few nights of debauchery for me and it is not only a great deal but very tasty as well. The service can be hit and miss but the food and drink is so good here it is always worth a visit.

Meehan's Irish Pub -- I give 'em a 4. After touring the Spanish ships on a cool day, the wife and I came here for lunch. We each had Hot Tea, a Cup of Clam Chowder, and we split a Reuben. I enjoyed this more than some of the tourist attractions. Our total bill was $24.38.

We waited way too long for our food. They stated that the waiter had to go help cook because they were so busy. The strawberry salad did not have fresh strawberries but frozen blueberries and strawberries thawed out- gross. Our sautéed spinach was wet and tasted like soaked sea water. It was overpriced and very poor quality of food. Would not recommend.

2 stars is just based on this particular visit, and nothing to do with the several visits over the years that would easily qualify for 4 stars! This was the meet up for 2 of my friends' birthday dinners, they do a joint party or dinner every year. I believe our server's name was Cory. He wasn't that great though. The food was good and it actually came out the way we ordered it, which was amazing considering he didn't write down any of our orders. This was the only good thing that he did all night. Everyone in our party spent at least half the night with an empty glass, be it beer, tea or water. This prompted us to order the 2.5 liter tube in order to stay un-thirsty. Our server did everything but his job. We had to get other servers to go get him for us whenever we were tired of waiting for him to show up. He also spent a lot of time socializing with his other tables and completely ignoring us. It was very sad because we are all great tippers and we are relatively easy to work when the restaurant is busy. However, they weren't busy this night. The Britingham Patty Melt was very good but it was a little overcooked for medium, par for the course really. My wife loved the Shepherd's Pie, which was a fairly sizable portion. For some reason she kept getting ice served in her Magner's Cider. Cory said it was the proper way to serve Magner's but it was the first time it had been served that way in the 7-8 years that my wife has been drinking it. Weird, but we weren't fans of Cory anyway. Before we could close out for the night we had to go find Cory, who suddenly became a bartender..., and even after I asked him for our check it took almost 10 minutes to arrive.

Fantastic food and great service! We had raw oysters (and I am a oyster lover and have eaten them everywhere), mussels, fish and chips, and shepards pie, all perfect! I highly recommend!

Excellent experience in the backyard. Very laid back, Bartender was very accomodating. I did not see any drunk college kids it might happen. I would definitely hang out again.

Couldnt find Backyard at Meehan's on Yelp before we sat to eat, so we took a chance. Bro, did we regret it! Da blackened chicken on bed of arugula salad was salt n peppa only. My mouth was on fire! Only cherry tomatoes and slivers of carrots on salad. Not worth the price. People were there for drinks only... Shoulda known!

I'm Italian....and for an Irish pub, they make DAMN good Linguini with white clam sauce....lots of garlic - whole clams-butter and herbs. Perfecto! Yum! Nice wait staff and pretty views of the water~ A+ You'll see us again.

The first visit here last year we absolutely loved. The staff accommodated us on a busy night. We thought it would be one of our favorite local spots. We were wrong. Last night we tried to go with a party of 11. Not happening even though we offered to sit at two tables. That was disappointing but not a deal breaker. Tonight we tried again with our enormous party of six. The front person basically said they have no upper or outdoor seating for such a large party. Seriously? When did 6 become so hard? We finally figured out the seating thing as my husband really wanted to eat there. We looked at the menu and couldn't believe some of their prices. $21 for a SALAD with fish on it. The waiter tried to say it was so good. Right. It's still a salad. A side of veggies was over $5. It must be a big side. We have no issue paying for 5 star food but this is NOT the place. If you want great seafood go up the street to a1a ale house. Not only will the food be better so will the staff. Way to lose a customer Meehans....before we sat down.

We had dinner in the "backyard" that's very tropical. Phenomenal food. I had the NY strip with some crab sauce that was out of this world. Never had anything like it. My friend had the chicken curry and loved it. They make all their own spices. The two other bimbos with us had Chicken flatbread was good but could have had more chicken, and fish tuna tacos were "freakin fantastic". We're from CT and will be back tomorrow! We only have two nights here and it's worth it to come back! Sunshine was the server and was so nice!

  • Wayne R.

It was just okay. The fish and chips were average but over priced. The fish was good but the chips were not. The Long Island iced tea was weak and really didn't taste like it should but what do you expect from an Irish Pub who specializes in beer? I had fried shrimp and mashed potatoes with sautéed squash. Just average. But again over priced for the quality. Okay but not okay enough for me to go back. Too many other (probably better) choices. The best part about it was the view. I guess that's what we paid for. And the service was okay. Not great.

  • Kathy J.

Unfortunately, we were not impressed. Shame on us for ordering seafood at at Irish pub. Fish dishes were overcooked and the seafood tower was definitely not worth the $48. If you want bangers and mash, I'm sure they do that well.

A typical, if a little cheesy, Irish pub. Considering this is Florida, you're not likely to find many authentic Irish establishments in the state, and Meehan's doesn't buck that trend. A large, two story restaurant with plenty of space to enjoy your food and drink. You'll also find tons of tchotchkes on the wall...things that tourists often love, although it's not my thing. Overall a decent place to hang out in St Augustine, but definitely not a must-see.

This place was recommended to us while we were visiting the area. On the food side, it was a typical burger/pub joint. The food was good and the service was alright. I can't say that I would go out of my way to visit here, but if I'm in the area, it's definitely a good place to eat. What gives this place an extra star is the kitchen staff. My wife has a seafood allergy. When we visit a restaurant, we have to be aware if they have fried fish on the menu. If so, have to inquire as to if they use the same frier for the fish and their other fried food. This location did. Without even asking, the chef gave my wife a wide range of sides that she could choose from as a replacement for her meal. They were not obliged to do so, but to not only give one or two choices, he allowed just about every option in his kitchen. In addition, her meal was brought out separately to make sure it was not accidentally contaminated by other food. It's always nice to visit a restaurant that is aware of food allergies and goes out of their way to accommodate their patrons who have them.

We actually never got to try the food at this place so I have no recommendations on that. We were seated by the hostess at an outdoor table and then we were ignored by the only outdoor waiter for 15 minutes. There wasn't a lot of people, so not sure why we weren't even acknowledged. The owner or manager was schmoozing some couple at the next table and when we caught his attention and asked him if we had a waiter, he said he'd find out. Hahah okay? It took him an additional 5 minutes to find that out and by the the time he told us that no one realized we were seated outside (which wasn't true since the hostess and the waiter both knew we were there), we were on our way out the door. Horrible customer service. Don't give this place a second glance.

The food is really good and the service is nice. It's right on the water too. We got the cheese flatbread and the Mac and cheese and it was delicious. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the music is AWFUL. It's like a pirate mix and it's really loud and annoying to listen too.

  • Cat D.

Our waitress was pretty rude from the start. Once I asked for the drink menu, she quickly snapped, "I'm going to need all your ID's." Wow! How about you try that again! Then once she found out that we weren't going to order food, she rudely snatched our menus and walked off. We had to flag down someone else just to get something. It was definitely like she was doing us a favor instead of providing decent customer service. Our server number was 4012 on our receipt. Our waitress was brunette, but a blonde one closed us out. She was nicer than our waitress. Her name is also on our receipt, but calling out names isn't really my style. We won't be back.

I'm a sucker for Irish Pubs, I must admit. Meehan's had some great qualities and one not so great quality... As my mother once said, start off with the negatives so people would remember the positives after. Negative: Man was the service just awful. It wasn't all that busy when we went and it took forever for somebody to come by to even say hello. Thankfully, Meehan's overlooks Matanzas Bay, so you've got a great view while contemplating whether you should leave or not. Positives: When somebody actually does come, they were all very friendly and they had a great variety of Irish & Regular Fare. Anywhere that sells Magners, I'm all about. Their Fish N Chips was great too, cannot complain about the food at all. I would definitely recommend for the view, quality of food and variety of Irish dishes made available.

I'm glad Meehan's is open late as we came in for a quick bite before a midnight tour. They had a late night menu and I ordered the Reuben. It was pretty good, but nothing too memorable. The service was fast and the view is beautiful, even at night. I'll come by for a Guinness next time I'm in the area.

I was pretty disappointed in this place. I ordered a burger medium rare and it came out well done for the most part. My fries were cold and the mac and cheese was barely warm. Everything tasted ok, just not what I wanted.

I had a wonderful meal. It started out with Irish scream wings. Wow I never had those before they were great. I had a hamburger called the Tommy Dolan it was cooked perfect to order. The French fries were to die for. My wife had a seafood dish that she fully enjoyed. They have a nice full service bar with a fine selection. They also had a band that played Irish music. We sat out on the front porch looking out at the bay and loved watching the horses from across the street. They had a garden in the back that looked pet friendly. I would recommend this to everyone. The price was reasonable for the amount of food.

This bar has gluten free bread as an option which is good for those with a gluten allergy. Christina is a great bartender. Cool spot over looking the water. The service is better outside than inside.

Went there with a starving party of 12 and waited 30 mins. We were seated at 3 different tables of 4. We ordered our drinks and they didn't come for at least 15 minutes. We got our menus and ordered. We ordered wings, a bunch of fish and chips, oysters, and shepherds pie. The wings came out first - and they were average. We then got all of the rest, the fish and chips were long like sticks but thicker. Grandma said they don't look like fish, so she didn't eat it. The rest of them ate fish and chips. 3 out of 10 people got food poisoning from the fish, and possibly the oysters. I think the health department needs to be contacted about this. We did some research and it says that sometimes restaurants will serve snake and put it in fish and chips batter to save money.

Without a doubt, our meal was probably the best we've had out, possibly ever. We had run into Chef Paul the evening before at a local pub, and quickly struck up a conversation about food, beer, wine, spirits, and the like. After conversing for most of the evening, he invited us to visit Meehan's for our anniversary dinner. After a long day of seeing various sights through the city, and surprising my wife with a carriage ride, off we went to dinner. The staff was kind, and quite helpful through the evening. Even in a busy room, they were able to understand us and meet any requests. As promised, Chef Paul came out to say hello, and go over what he planned to cook. My wife was to have a rib eye steak, medium, with all sides and prep to Paul's spec. For myself, I took Paul up on his offer for Indian curry, after we discussed the differences between what we are served here, his time living here, love of the culture, and so on. A very short time later, barely after my wife finished off her cluster of crab legs, Chef Paul and our server both returned with our dishes. Which, were quite massive plates to begin with, and completely filled with an incredible presentation of food. My wife's steak smelled and looked amazing, and was quite sizable as well. Along with the main protein, was another dozen or so shrimp, potatoes, squash, and so on. My plate of curry, was astonishing as well. Nearly two dozen shrimp, along with Mahi-Mahi, assorted vegetables and spices, and jasmine rice adorned my meal. The flavors were so intricate and complex, layers that I uncovered each time I had another bite. It took much self control from not eating more than half of it and making myself sick. The taste, and specifically the spice, was spot on. A subtle burn in the back of your mouth that makes you crave to eat more. Then the sweet and savory notes that came with it, it was exactly what Chef Paul had described, and definitely the best Indian food, and curry, I have ever eaten. Once our meals were finished, and by that I mean maybe half of each serving was consumed and the rest saved for later, we were treated to their house made Irish Cream.. Now, I am not a huge fan of Bailey's, or others of that style, but this was the closest thing to an alcoholic milkshake I have had. I sipped it so slowly, just because I did not want to be finished with it. In short, we had an exceptional dinner and experience at Meehan's. I have already suggested the establishment to numerous people we know, along with shared the photos my wife took prior to devouring our food. Most definitely worth a 5 star review from us, and we look forward to stopping in again at all of our trips in the future.

Went to st Augustine this weekend for my birthday. We stumbled across this place on Saturday had a great waitress and fast service. On Sunday we had a completely different experience. We got there about 1045 pm were on the patio we got completely ignored so we went inside to get a drink at bar. Bartender screams across the bar shout it out guys what ya want so we ordered. Came up to the bar to get another drink bartender ignored me helped 3 young ladies then a staff memeber who appeared to off that night cause he was saying don't touch the music tonight man you are off. Finally after helping the five people that arrived he came up cAn I help you with something. Well we are at a bar how about a drink. So I paid for my drink and I am a very good tipper for good service however didn't feel a good tip was justified so I took a quarter out of my pocket and left it on bar. I should of stayed at the other bar

The place looks nice and definitely has great pub decor. However, we waited a long time to be seated and were never waited on. The food may have been great, but we didn't make it that far. There are too any great restaurants nearby to wait and be ignored.

Service was great! Pub cider and clam chowder were good. The fish and chips and the fries were soggy and had no flavor. Stick to the adult beverages and chowder.

My husband is a fan of Irish pub food so we thought we'd check out Meehan's for lunch. It was a rainy Monday afternoon so we didn't experience the back patio (which looked like it would be a great place for a drink on a future visit) but sat in the front windows overlooking the harbour. Our group ordered Bangers&Mash, Irish Beggars Purse, Steak&Stout Pie, and Shepherds Pie. Everything was fantastic! A great break from the standard fish fare so common to most coastal restaurants. Oh - and definitely order at least a side of the Hand-cut Irish Chips with garlic, parsley, black pepper and Parmesan. Add a dash of malt vinegar and you'll be in heaven. Delicious! Many tables around us ordered fish dishes, so you can definitely get plenty of fish here, but my recommendation is to go Irish with your food choices. And enjoy a perfectly poured Guinness, yummy food, a nice atmosphere and reasonable prices.

We live in Saint Augustine and are here quite often. The food is always great, drinks too. The staff is wonderful and we Love the atmosphere. Any friends visiting St Augustine are always sent/taken here. We had a wonderful night/dinner on the upstairs balcony over looking the bay front with a group of out of town friends. A great time and meal had by all. If you are visiting, take it from a local and check this place out. Authentic Irish coffees, homemade Irish cream and great seafood!

Our first stop in St. Augustine, we were just hoping for a good meal in a fun atmosphere. What we found was a great Irish pub with fantastic, crowd pleasing entertainment, and excellent food! We had the ribeye special which was cooked to perfection with creamy mashed potatoes and perfectly steamed asparagus, and salmon Oscar cooked perfectly over a bed of creamy potatoes. Patrick was an excellent server and overall we were very pleasantly surprised by this impromptu stop for dinner! You will love it!

We stopped here at the end of the Haunted Pub Crawl and had a few beers. I liked the tap selection as some of the regional and local craft beers were present. The backyard section was crowded with a diverse group of people and we were lucky to find a recently vacated spot on the edge of the bar. The service was good, though I think the bartenders there could use a few pointers in their pouring techniques. Beer taps don't react well to straight up and down glass ware. As for the overall experience, I would return there to see what made it special and could easily drop in for a beer or three.

Ahh what a gem on a hot summer day of endless walking around! Super-friendly service, nice cold AC and ICE cold beers, not to mention EXCELLENT food! Irish pubs aren't necessarily known for having the best grub, but Meehan's takes it to the next level for pubs in it's genre. For example, let's talk about the SALMON CROSTINI. What Irish pub has this? Perfectly smokes salmon on top a crunchy, toasty Italian-style bruschetta with cream cheese, capers and a vinaigrette dressing. We also started with the RUBEN ROLLS - Ruben sammich contents stuffed inside of fried eggroll? Just typing this up, my mouth is watering. Wow. We also had the BRITTINGHAM BURGER - Swiss, onions and mushrooms. Very very good burger. I ordered it medium, and it came out WELL AS HELL, but it was still delicious. Not so hot: WISKEY BBQ WEXFORD WINGS. The wings were average at best. I wouldn't recommend them, just because there are better wings to be eaten out there.

Avoid. Haven't got our food yet but both the hostess and waiter are rude. Service seems to be a word without a meaning here. You have plenty of options here in town, avoid this one and feel like a paying customer somewhere else.

Great atmosphere and service. The staff were attentive and happy to recommend food off the menu. I couldn't decide between the Shepherd's Pie or the Bangers and Mash. In the end I had the pie with an Irish sausage on the side. Great decision, the pie was fill of flavor and piping hot. The sausage (banger) was delicious, but not sure it was worth the $18 for the full Bangers and Mash meal. My son had the Brittingham Burger with the garlic Parmesan fries (chips). I had a bite... Incredible flavor and substantial! Came out perfect. Would come back just for another bite of that burger! Chips were also really flavorful. We finished with their Key Lime Pie. It didn't disappoint!! Perfectly subtle flavor with a wonderful crust. I would order that again! Meehans is definitely worth the visit. I would give it 5 stars except the food took a while to come out. By the way... The Mac n Cheese looked really tempting too!!

Cruised in to Meehan's to give their oyster bar a try and was impressed with their oyster list. Outside of the obligatory (crap) gulf oysters, they had a nice selection of 4 other choices, all of them serious oyster lovers stuff, Fresh, beautiful, delicious, but prepared by a moron, and at $3.75 a piece, pricer than I paid 2 weeks ago in Midtown Manhattan (ouch.) Gorgeous, tasty oysters, but the problem was two fold. First, when opened, all of the liquor was poured out, leaving a dry oyster lacking it's best feature. Second, the platter was just a pack of ice. No salt and no sea weed to keep the oysters from submerging in the melting water, a sure way to lose even more flavor. Again - good - but at $65 for 18 oysters (which is fine, but pricey) you expect a bit more tender love and care. Good server, awesome setting, but an important screw up for an outfit that wants to charge Monte Carlo (forget NYC) prices.

Terrible experience. They were out of 3 different items that I ordered. The server brought out unsweet tea 3 separate times when I made them aware that I ordered sweet. The food was cold. One item that was muscles. The manager came to the table and apologized but regretted to inform us that the muscles were cooked improperly and he couldn't serve them. The server was pleasant but I will never eat here again. Especially not when they charge $19 for 9 frees shrimp and cold mashed potatoes.

We have made Meehans one of the top three choices in St. Augustine. The staff is super nice and their service to their great menu is excellent. Our eight yr old really enjoys going there as well. We have met Mr. Meehan multiple times and he is happy to make time to chat. Being half Irish, my standards to Meehans outweighs any other Irish place to eat thus far. L.Mora

Giving a 3, quality of food was just OK. Service was just OK. I serve in a busy tourist area for a living and so I may be harsh, but the waitress could have a been a lot more attentive. I came for lunch, had the shrimp & crab tini & clam chowder. Nothing special honestly. Great view & ambiance though! However I probably won't go back.

Should be closed. Useless manager, waited 40 mins for a table. Invited to table and the waitress says she can't take care of us. Good bartender but manager and staff, find something else to do. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and, KEEP WALKING !!

Yep. An actual 5 star review! A wonderful change of pace from the usual chain restaurants, and a definite step above the 'tourist trap' fare could easily try to pass for Irish food. Excellent service staff. Attentive without being intrusive. Professional, personable, pleasant... The location is wonderful. Drinks (Tom Collins), dinner (steak and stout pie) and desert (bread pudding) that will be hard to beat. The prices are well worth the quality of food. The quantity (from a full size, hungry guy) was perfect. It takes a very good meal to inspire a 5 star review, and this one is well deserved. Not sure when I will be back in town, but I'll definitely return, when I have the chance. If you enjoy a fine Irish meal, put Meehan's on your 'must do' list. Cheers!

Rudest bartenders/ mediocre food no thanks..acted like they were doing us a favor taking our order, ridiculous. They even charged like 5 bucks for bread and butter- seriously!? There are much better places in town than this! Still cannot get over how disinterested and arrogant the bartenders were!

Pretty ok place. Pub food. Great flatbread. Clam chowder arrived a bit on the cool side which I thought likely took away from the flavor. Service was a bit slow. Seemed to be a lot of food coming out of the kitchen and perhaps they were just busy. But, things seemed a bit slow. Great location on the bay front. Would go back.

To start with the positives, and the reasons I keep coming back, there's plenty to drink. Huge list of irish whiskies, tropical/mixed drinks on the back patio, and a decent selection of draft and bottled beers. The back patio is one of the best in Old St. Aug, tucked in the tiny back streets with fire pits, heating lamps, and a lot of draping greenery. Really great atmosphere outside to sit and drink with friends A HUGE downside to the back patio is the service. I've never had any issues with waiting time and service eating inside, but once I sit outside, it's a whole different story. Three times in a row I've waited 10-15 mins. for a waiter to bring menus/take a drink order, and usually another 5-10 mins. before the drinks arrive. Tack on equally long waits for a food order (food arrives quickly, probably b/c the kitchen is in the magical vortex of speedy inside service), as well as how long it takes to get the check (and god forbid you pay with a credit card or need change), and I've left here several times forced to tip not-so-generously. After working in restaurants, I give a LOT of leniency to bad service for a lot of reasons, but when I can see waiters and bartenders consistently returning to surrounding tables without checking in, or just standing around not appearing to do anything, I can't help but think the staff outside needs a refresher. The good news for Meehan's is that they haven't lost a customer by any means. I love the aesthetic of the back patio and the more authentic Irish feel of the pub inside, but I always make sure I have my afternoon or evening clear if I'm going to drink outside.

Staff not friendly. Came for oyters and staff made us feel unwelcome so much that we had one drink and left. No oysters for us

We stop by Meehan's every time we go to St. Augustine. It is a great place to get your Irish fix between the food and the beer. I may be a little biased because I am a Meehan as well, but the atmosphere is great!

I had the clam & linguine, wasn't impressed. There was no flavor to it. The garlic bread wasn't fresh. I would only go back for drinks

MmmmmmAzing!!!! By far, one of the best Irish restaurants I've been to. We were a bit lost at first because most of the places right down that strip with the awesome view of main street and the ocean are lacking in the food quality. Most of the restaurants seem to have a limited menu, consisting mostly of bar snacks and small bites. Then, we stumbled past this place. 1. Artichoke, clam, florentine soup was sensational! My new favorite soup :) 2. Screaming Whiskey Wings! However, they're fried (I'll probably ask if they can grill them next time). 3. Chive Turkey Burger --- heaven! Best turkey burger i have ever had, ever! Sooooo flavorful. The hand-cut fires that they're served with has got to be one of the best fries i've ever had as well. Finished off with parmesan cheese, chives, salt and pepper. Their homemade ranch dressing is killer, too. 4. Save room for dessert: Mint chocolate mousse. Light and delicious.

The food is good. Mussels, shrimp , salmon, and clam soup is delicious. It takes long for the food to come , so if you in a hurry, don't go there. Also, I order a beer that never came. Besides that is a place that you can enjoy the view too.

My friend highly recommended this place for a late night snack so we went there tonight. It took 45 minutes to get our food then they tried to kick us out of the bar area because they were closing and we just got our food. Then my friend had some bad ranch dressing and ended up puking the rest of the night and all she had was 2 beers. I had such high hopes because it's such a great atmosphere but probably won't be back.

AWESOME place we stumbled across in St. Augustine. Landed a table outside by the water. When you order a hamburger with fries, split it. The portions are HUGE and the spices on the fries are AWESOME. Can't describe it just go for it. The place is busy so def get some patience in gear and understand it may take some time when you ask for ketchup or tabasco sauce. I ran in and got mine from the bartender - they were busy which is probably a good sign! Loved it and would totally go back in a heartbeat. Food rocked and the unlimited ice tea was a needed break from all the day long boozing! :)

Food was excellent, slow/unattentive service. Out server didn't seem to care about us all that much. Would have ordered more drinks but he hardly came over. Reasonably priced food and it was good, so no complaints there. Will reconsider visiting due to poor service.

Stopped here for a late night dinner last night with some yelp friends and my sister. The vibe that this place had was awesome, it felt as though we were on a tropical island(except with cooler weather). They had the island tunes pumping through the stereo system and we even got a seat at one of their outdoor fire-pit tables(if you ever go which I highly recommend you must sit at one of these very cool tables)although I was informed by our server that when it gets busy people tend to get in fights over these tables, and he's even seen older ladies pulling at each other to get to one first...lmao! Anyways back to the food and drinks, which we had plenty of...I went with a diet coke for my starter drink and my younger sister had a water both were served in very cute tiki glasses, then everyone convinced me to order the huge Shark Tank as my beverage(it's meant to be shared as it comes with 4 straws, and it's literally served in a medium sized glass fish bowl!)that thing was huge!! For our entrees I had the drunken clams in a white whine sauce which came with two nice sized slices of French bread for soaking up all of the yummy sauce! My sister had the catch of the day sandwich that came with a side of Parmesan fries. We also had an order of the Guinness beef brisket sliders that came with sides of onion straws and fries. I have to admit that everything was very good and I would definitely come back!

Great seafood, good selection of alcohol, friendly staff. It's like a "real", better version of Harry's. Definitely great for tourists looking for a St. Augustine experience right near the water.

  • Dave W.

The food was somewhat average/dependable Irish fair but with fresh seafood thrown in the mix. The fries with salt, pepper, and Parmesan were the best thing we had. It was cool in more than one way that we could sit inside in blessed AC or outside in the fresh air. To bring it up a notch or two, order a Jameson straight up at the bar. The bartender took care of us. We ended up trying 3 or 4 different kinds, aged various long years, just for fun, on the house. Life is good!

The best thing about this place is the location and the view. Although it is off a busier road, the view of the water and the activity is always entertaining! The service here was terrible, although it wasn't 100% the servers fault. I feel like she is way overworked and just didn't have enough time to take care of everyone (or the skill/expertise). This place needs to hire more people. We constantly had to ask for things multiple times. This place ALSO needs to learn how to shuck their oysters correctly. Terrible. I mean, awful. I almost broke a tooth with all the shell debris. Plus, they need to learn to also remove the oyster from it's muscle! argh! We got the 6 oysters, mussels, Shrimp Floridian and Clams and Linguine. The oysters were just done wrong, the mussels were OK and the two pasta dishes were also just average. HUGE portions, but average. I would have to say this place really deserves 2 stars because of the mediocre experience all around. mediocre service, mediocre food. But the location is fun, and that was what was most entertaining about it! Will I return? Sure. But next time I'm going to stick with my gut and try the shepard's pie.

What a wonderful place in St Augustine. The staff were courteous, accommodating and very friendly. The manager took the time to introduce himself to our large group and we chatted for quite a bit. This place has a great selection of Irish Whiskey, including the entire Jameson line. I look forward to returning to this fine establishment. Cheers!

5 stars because of those DAMN OYSTERS and very friendly staff! I swear, the Oysters Meehan made me JIZZ-IN-MY-PANTS. I mean, I love oysters, but HOLY CRAP it was delicious!!! Ok I'm done, that is all.

I can't say enough about this amazing Irish Pub. Myself and about 14ish others closed the bar down after my friends wedding reception. First, the staff and manager go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Second, the selection of Irish whiskeys on hand is phenomenal. Third, their ability to make a tasty shot and mixed drink is unparalleled! Try the Irish Cream shot! Tastes like melted ice cream, so tasty! Finally, the atmosphere and decor is top notch. Thanks again to Reggie and all your staff for an awesome experience! I'll be coming back next time I'm in town.

I really enjoyed this. Okay. Maybe, just maybe, I really enjoyed the fact they had Fox Barrel Blackberry Pear cider. I got to sit outside, drink what was the most amazing drink in the world, and have a nice view of the main street and ocean. There is nothing better, at all. Service was good. We had no issues. Drinks came fast, food came decently fast (it was hot, that's all I care about) and our burgers were DELICIOUS. Very tasty. I got the bog burger and my husband got the Tommy Malone - both were great, but I highly suggest the bog burger - the onion relish and bbq are great together. Fries are very seasoned - mac and cheese is the way to go. We left full and very happy. We came again to end a pub crawl ghost tour - the upstairs deck is also really great!

Five Stars Fun and Friendly Staff. Great entertainment. Full bar. One of the best Irish bars in St. Augustine. Second Floor porch has a wonderful view of the bay. The raw oysters are perfect. Some of my happiest St. Augustine moments were here.

Ended a pub crawl here and after seeing the food decided to grab a bite. Nice selection I beer. Our table ordered 2 burgers (about ten bucks each) one black and blue and one cheddar with bacon and one order of fish and chips( cod). Clam chowder was rich and flavorful. We all thought the food and atmosphere was nice. Service was pleasant. One glitch. My husband wasn't feeling well so he asked the server if they had a house bread. She described a tower of bread with olive oil and seasonings. My husband said he would like some, luckily I had crackers with my soup he was able to eat because the bread didn't arrive until the burgers did... And the tower was 4 2-3 inch pieces tossed in a basket and they charged 4.75. Definitely not worth it.

We walked in and it seemed as if no one knew what was going on, they weren't sure where to sit us or which sections were open. Eventually we sat upstairs on the deck, this was about the only good part of our experience there, the view was really nice. The service was ok but I ordered a Harp and I'm not really not sure what it was but it wasn't a Harp, I know that much. We didn't eat there but someone sent their food back twice while we were there.

This place was great! The location was fabulous, it had a great view of the harbor, it was right on the water! The food was delicious! I had a ceaser salad and my boyfriend had a grilled chicken sandwich. Their fries are very different but in a good way, they're to die for! The only advice i would give them is for their servers to be a little bit more attentive but all in all, we had a really nice experience!

Great service and fantastic view of water and the bridge, really nice outdoor seating. Great, friendly service and good beer selection. They have raw oysters... The oysters were excellent quality, but the shucker was terrible. Full of shell, not detached from the foot, and they looked really mangled. Would have been fine except that they were expensive. Yup, I'm knocking off two stars for terribly shucked oysters. Just abysmal. Didn't have anything else, but the pub food looked fine.

We had the shepherds pie and bangers and mash and both were delish. Huge 3 page straight whisky list was awesome. Loved the atmosphere next to the water. Mixed drinks were good but needed stirred. The service sucked but I did get carded on my 36th birthday (but no happy birthday wishes).

We arrived in st. augustine and stopped by Meehan's what a great location right across from the ocean . We opted for a table inside since it was 48 degrees and the coldest day of the year. But, we hear the backyard is a great place. We sat in a booth next to the band and had a great time. We started with the wings which were not that great and the Crab and Lobster Dip (very good) comes with thin bageuttes . For dinner we ordered the FIsh and Chips and they were delicious. Great place to have a cold beer and relax after a day of walking around St. Augustine. Great location near the Castillo and St. George's street.

My second visit to this restaurant, and the result was the same -- quick, friendly service and a delicious meal. My first time here I tried a burger (I don't remember what it was called, but it had crab on it) that I thought was great. This last time I decided to try the french dip. Wow. High quality, tasty roast beef on what is probably a nearly perfect bun, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Excellent fries rounded it out. Looking at much of the menu, including the things I've ordered, you expect pub food and pub quality food, but it's a lot more than that. Even when it's busy, we've never found ourselves waiting to order or waiting for drink refills. Great experience overall, I'll be back a third time as soon as I'm back in town!

Very, very slow service. We were there on Sunday evening and with the place not even half full, it took over an hour to receive our order. Nothing complicated - just four of us ordering fish and chips. The food, when it did arrive, was nothing special. Definitely won't be back.

Mediocre food at best. If everywhere else is packed, come here for bland food like we did. I guess there's a reason this place didn't have a wait unlike everywhere else at the historic district.

  • Casey C.

I expected a lot from this place, but was very disappointed. The only good thing was that the staff was friendly. Slow, but friendly. My conch fritters came semi burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. My chicken sandwich tasted like cheap bathroom cologne. Very weird. It took me 90mins for a table with 3 adults and two kids and no high chairs. It took 25 minutes to get 3 lemon waters. Won't be back that's for sure.

Kilkenny's on tap. Of course I loved the place. They're working a bit too hard to create their "Irish" atmosphere, but it sort of works. Friendly people, overdone Irish atmosphere, comfortable place from the minute you walk in. Way too big a menu for such a small uncrowded place - all things to all people, right out of the freezer. But as a place to drink and socialize, it's a winner.

Service and food were horrible. Never saw waiter after putting in 1st beer order. Had to get the hostess to order food after waiting 30 minutes. Ordered 2nd drink from food delivery guy but never got it. Went to bar eventually to get served. Corned beef was over cooked and dry. Cabbage was undercooked. Had to get the hostess again to get the bill paid after waiting another 30 minutes. The place was busy but not overcrowded and there was no wait for a table so there was no excuse for the poor service. We won't go back.

We went here for dinner on Mothers Day Eve. We sat on the patio, and although service was a bit slow, we were not in a huge hurry and wanted to just sit and relax anyway. I ordered Guinness, of course, and it came fast. Actually too fast. It was poured incorrectly. OK so I was gonna drink it anyway. I ordered Shepherds Pie, my wife ordered the special, swordfish sandwich, and my daughter ordered Sloppy John. My wife and daughter's food was excellent, but mine was extremely bland and not what I was expecting. I simply told the waitress it wasnt exactly what I expected. She offered to take it back, but I ate it anyway just because I was hungry. The waitress apologized and later the manager came by. He paid for my meal, and poured me a new Guinness, all on the house. I was extremely happy with the way they handled the situation and apparently they were breaking in a new cook, so since they took care of us I was more than happy. We left and my wife and were so happy with the way we were treated that later that evening we went back for just drinks, and they poured us 2 perfect Guinness pints. We would highly recommend this place. They got it right!!

We stopped by on a Saturday evening about 9PM. The place was pretty busy and we had to sit near the bar. The evening started off ok, but went downhill quickly. Once I finally got my burger, the bun was burnt, like near solid black on the burger sides. The fries were ok, but portions were pretty small. One person ordered a salad and it too almost 30 minutes to arrive. The service was just horrid. It took 10 min to order and probably 10 more to get our drinks though we were just feet from the bar. My burger arrived while my drink simultaneously ran dry. It stayed dry, though we tried staring down the wait staff, no one would look or acknowledge our presence. To eat with no drink is a rule I do not break nor forgive. It literally took almost 30 minutes to get a refill and that is after I got up and hunted someone down. I've only been once and hope what I experienced was a fluke. Good luck to those who try the place, you may want to pack bottled water.

The wings were in the top 5 I have ever had. When I asked a local bartender where they go for good wings I was sent here. She was right! Service was good and price is reasonable for the caliber of food. My friend has the fish and chips and it was better than average.

The backyard of Meehan's is where we hung out several times during our weekend in St. Augustine. We stayed at a hotel nearby and once we saw the layout, we fell in love with Meehan's. Shady and cool, but a Key Largo island feel to it as well. Its just off the main street through old town so it doesn't get overly crowded, another plus. The staff was polite, considerate, attentive and helpful. Drinks are as expected, mixed island style drinks are 7-9 dollars. Beers are your typical popular brews. I enjoyed the dishes I had at Meehan's. On Saturday I had the "Sloppy John", which consisted of: "Beer Braised Beef Brisket chopped and pulled served in its own juices with Whiskey BBQ Sauce, cheddar cheese and fried onion straws". Awesome flavor. It was a little messy and my bun turned to mush, so be sure you have utensils by because you'll have to finish it after your first bite. I would like to see some slaw on this, but I guess i could've asked for it as a side. A friend ordered the Poke Crostini and I couldn't believe I overlooked that on the menu. So, upon our return sunday, I ordered it right away! Its not your typical salad, it contains: Cubed Ahi and Salmon, marinated in a roasted sesame oil with petite diced chilies, served in a seaweed salad nest with crostini. Huge portion and flavor was all over the plate!! I couldn't stop eating it even though the portion was more than my stomach could handle. The fish was fresh, which is key to any seafood dish. We have found another gem in St. Augustine, I can't wait til our next visit!

Nice Irish Bar with great food on the bay front of Old Downtown St. Augustine. They recently changed the menu and actually bought the patio area, so if you have been there in the past its time to RE-VISIT.

Stopped in just for a Guinness. Nice atmosphere and good service. Noticed the fish & chips are made with flounder - that can't be good. But the Guinness is on nitro tap, so that was perfect for my visit.

I came, I drank....I stayed. After walking around downtown St. Augustine for an hour or so we decided to stop in here for a cold adult beverage. What a wise choice. The Back Yard as it is called was lively and as it turned out had a good afternoon atmosphere. The service was excellent and though we didn't eat, the food that was coming out of the kitchen looked great. Will definitely make this a stop during our next trip.

Amazing fresh, shucked oysters! Fresh, plump and sweet tasting jewels from the Gulf. Also enjoyed oyster PO' boy sandwich with a hot, fresh crunchy roll. Great location and very good service. Oh yeah also have traditional Irish selections like shepherds pie and fish and chips.

The food was really good. I had the steamed shrimp. It was tasty and didn't really need cocktail sauce. I forgot how they seasoned it, but the carrots picked-up much of the spice and were pretty spicy. My wife had the fried oysters. She said they were the best she'd ever had which includes some great restaurants we used to dine at in North Carolina. The service was friendly, but not overly attentive. And cleanliness could have been better. Improve the service and appearance of the dining room to the yummy food and this would be a 5-Yelp review.

VERY Gluten-free friendly for the Celiac's! Wierd mix of Irish and Seafood that works well Danny the Manager personally came over to walk-through the various options that were Gluten-free - our waitress was great - raw bar was fantastic and they feature Irish favorites too Right across street from water with a fun Irish pub on the corner of the historic town of St. Augustine - great casual option Get a pour of Jamieson to start your experience - a very generous pour!

Ate lunch here a few weeks ago and then came back for dinner/drinks to celebrate St. Patty's day. The food was consistently good both times, certainly exceeding my expectations and the entertainment for St. Patty's Day was great. Service was good at our lunch and much as expected (crazy busy) on the Saturday night of St. Patty's day. This place is a real winner and deserves better recognition!

We went there twice during our vacay, and I can't even entirely tell you why we went back the second time except that it was ridiculously cold in there and it was sweltering hot outside. Both times they ran out of oysters, and half their menu is made with oysters. They still served up a couple of different oyster dishes (fried oysters) despite saying they had ran out which makes me think that the other oyster dishes are not made from fresh oysters - kind of gross really. We had the corned beef cabbage stew, and steak pie. Steak pie tasted like your standard pub grub, and the corned beef and cabbage stew was literally, just boiled cabbage with hunks of corned beef. It was really bland, I haven't had this before so I'm not entirely sure what it is supposed to taste like but I didn't like it nonetheless. Too bad, I had read the reviews for this place so I had really set myself up for disappointment.

Ate here during a Feb. 2013 visit to St. Augustine and really enjoyed it. We sat on the outdoor balcony and enjoyed a view of the water and For Matanzas (along with a wonderful breeze). Nice beverage selection with a lot of good brews on tap. The service was a little slow (not enough staff on duty for the number of customers) but very friendly and accommodating. We love pubs and this one was great. The music was fabulous. I had Fish & Chips and they were the best I have ever had (perfectly fried with a delicate and flaky fish inside). Chips were nicely seasoned. Do not visit this place without having the bread pudding - it is amazing. If I was a local I would be here often.

Wow. How have I lived in St. Augustine for so long, and just now found out about the awesomeness that is Meehan's? Apparently, this place has only been open for a few months, but word must be spreading, as this place seems to be getting pretty popular. For some reason, I'm the first to review it. Went with my girl on a Saturday night. The place was very full, but not overly packed. We were seated immediately, and chose to stay inside in the A/C, rather than the outside seating, which looks out over Matanzas Bay. There are also plenty of seats available at the bar, and also a lounge area upstairs with billiards and more if you're looking to stop in for drinks. Service could've been the best I've ever had. Seriously. The same waitress that seated us took care of us all night. Drinks NEVER got empty before she offered up refills. Empty plates were taken away quickly. Orders were correct and arrived quickly. Amazing. The food itself- wow. Now, this is advertised as an Irish Pub and Seafood House, and while there are a few good seafood choices on the menu, they're few and far between. I was somewhat surprised to see the menu didn't offer many choices, but I did see about 15 things I wanted to try. Went with the Irish Chips for an appetizer (hand cut french fries with garlic and parmesan cheese. Great. For the main course, figured since I was in an Irish Pub, I'd try the Shepherd's Pie- spectacular. Maybe not the best choice for a hot Florida night, but certainly would be perfect on a chilly winter night. Filling, hearty, and delicious. Girlfriend had a cheese stuffed chicken, which was baked and served with mac 'n cheese. The size of the entree was RIDICULOUS. It was HUGE, and it was DELICIOUS. Since this place also prides itself on being an Irish Pub, the bar is well stocked with MANY different beers, plus all your favorites- stop in for a Guinness or Irish Car Bomb! The best part- there was a gentleman singing Irish drinking songs acoustically- not overly loud, but just enough to get everyone in a great mood, drinking and clapping, and having a great time. I think I have a new FAVORITE place to stop in downtown St. Augustine- and it's Meehan's. Great food, great service, great atmosphere, and a place that is HUGE, filled with people but not standing room only. Want to stop in for a drink? Hang at the bar or play billiards. Want to stop in for a nice dinner? Stop in and eat on the outside patio and enjoy some seafood. Want to stop in for dinner, drinks, and a great time? Grab a seat, a couple of pints, and have some fun. Stop in some night and enjoy this place- definitely worth it.

My favorite part of Meehan's is really the back porch. Actually, I still call it the Blue Dolphin and the wife continues to correct me. Tough, it was the Blue Dolphin and it'll always be the Blue Dolphin. It's particularly nice on a cool day (or any day not in June-August). The service can be a little slow, but it's fine as long as the beer gets there. The burger and fries are really good and occasionally there's some decent live music. I've watched a couple Gator games here and it's always packed with other Gators. The actual restaurant portion is fine, too. The food is better than your average Irish pub, although a pint of Guinness is overpriced. I can't say I'd go out of my way to come here like I do some places, but it's pretty good.

I've been here twice so far and had excellent experiences both times. The first was lunch, dining solo as I often do. I ate on the small but nice outside patio with a gorgeous view of the bay. My spinach salad was amazing and HUGE. I got the handcut chips (fries) appetizer as well and had to take them home because I filled up on my salad. My waitress was great and very helpful with recommendations. The second time I went was with a group of several other women. The manager, Patrick, let us basically have free reign of the pool room because it was a slow night and he tirelessly schlepped up and down the stairs bringing us food and drinks. He was even good-humored enough to let us teasingly call him our bitch. I can't speak for anyone else but my burger (the Bog Burger) was absolutely delicious. Whether dining alone or socializing with friends, Meehan's makes me feel right at home. I've lived here for 2 months now and tried a lot of bars but I think I've found my favorite neighborhood watering hole.

Went to a Jameson Whiskey tasting and although it was an easy price of $10, the variety and pours were what you paid for.

Big fan of their "Back Yard" but you can get the regular menu too if the front is packed. This is the finest staff you will find in St Augustine, the girls are just wonderful, very friendly, guide you on the local favorites, etc. Bangers and Mash more expensive than most Irish pubs by a few bucks, but they make their own pork and lamb sausage, everything VERY fresh, other food good as well, ate a couple of meals there, more than a couple of drinks out back. Tables have fire pit in the center of each table on the back deck, it was cool out so that felt great. Kate Lynn and Jessica were the best!!! We made new friends there and will be back.

Consistently good meals and service... and REALLY good corned beef. They also know how to do salmon right. Parking can be a bear (area is BUSY), but if you hit it at the right time, this is a great lunch or dinner spot.

We walked in not expecting much. We wanted to get a quick bite and a beer. So we sat at the bar. Which was interestingly the closest Irish looking bar I have been into since I lived in Boston. Our bartender. Roland. Was a very informative and nice individual. He suggest I try their New England Clam chowder. I was skeptical. He was from the south shore of Boston. I took his advice because I trusted it by this point. I got a Guinness beer as one should at an Irish Pub. Their chips (aka fries) were delicious. The malt vinegar and the chips and fish were a delight. Brought back memories of living in Boston. As it turns out. The owner was from the New England area. Nothing I ate tasted microwaved or frozen. We are talking about fresh fresh fresh. The service was phenomenal and the food was impressive as well. We left with the intent of going back. We never made it back during that trip. I will hit that spot first thing next time I am in St. Augustine. You should do so too!

Food is great here not what you would expect in an Irish pub. I have been here many times and the service is hit or miss, I have left after waiting some time for a drink , overall it is a great place.

After driving all day from Virginia, we were looking for something close to the Hotel and stumbled into Meehan's. We were promptly greeted and seated by a friendly host. The menu was promising. Kids were very happy with the hand cut chips. We got off to a rough start with a dozen itty bitty tiny oysters on the half shell. It got better from there. I had the Blackened Mahi Mahi. It was delicious, perfectly spiced. Killer hand cut chips. My wife had a lovely Seafood platter with Salmon, Shrimp, mussels, Clams...very nice. For dessert My wife ordered a mousse of some kind, i forget exactly what it was. i had a bit. it was very good. I had the key lime pie. From the first bite I knew I had ordered something special. I have been eating key lime pie since the early 70s, all over the US, Florida, and the Keys. This was the best ever. The crust was wonderful. We were informed by the host that Chef Tom Patterson was winner of the 2006 Key West key Lime Pie competition. I have no reason to doubt that. We came back the next day for lunch. I had the Blackened Mahi Mahi again, this time on a sandwich. It was delightful. This time both my wife and I ordered Key Lime Pie. We would have come back for dinner but we had travels plans so it was not an option. Did I mention they have a wonderful array of beer on draught? They do. My wife had a Smithwicks, an Irish Red Ale from Kilkenny that she quite enjoyed. For lunch the next day she had a Guiness, yes, on draught. Apparently when the owner opened the pub, he had arranged for training of all bar staff by a representative of Guiness on the proper method of pouring a proper pint. Nicely done. A very good gastro-pub, friendly service, good food, nothing fancy as far as decor which is fine with me and kid friendly. We will be going back on our next visit to Saint Augustine.

Great atmosphere but, the food can be a little hit or miss. Shannon Salmon was fantastic! Beef Sliders Tasteless and very badly presented. Bangers and Mash were good but only after I had to send it back to complete the cooking of the sausage (still frozen and raw) Service could be better but, at least they were friendly.

I really love pubs & it's hard to mess them up. Unfortunately, my experience was not as good as all the other yelpers, because it was my bartenders first day on the job. I'm pretty certain because he kept commenting "I'm learning" & servers had to show him where everything was including the most requested beer ever, a Budweiser. He started out pretty friendly, sarcastic, but meant well I think. Me & my boyfriend were still all giddy about getting engaged 5 minutes before we walked in the joint, so he gave us a free round. I saw someone teaching him how to make him an Irish coffee & it looked so good that I asked for one too. I was under the impression that coffee was brewing or something, & perhaps that's why 10 minutes later, I still hadn't received my Irish coffee. But, our bartender walked by & said "oh hey, do you still want that irish coffee?" Umm, yes I do. I know bartending isn't normally a professional job but our bartenders friends had surrounded the bar & he had acted as if there were no real customers in the bar. The worst part, was when some employees from a restaurant next door came in after their shift & asked for the biggest beer (a 2 liter!) but the gadget that measures out the 2 liters wasn't working, paired with the fact that he wasn't pouring the drafts right, equalled a disaster that strait up irritated him & he asked the guys to order something else because he didn't wanna deal with it! As I would have done, they insisted they receive what they ordered. So the bartender replied with, "I'm gonna come into your restaurant & order 20 hamburgers" although the bartender was ok towards us, I was so turned off by his attitude. I might consider this place again if it was the last Irish pub in st augustine.

Awesome place, I was in St. Augustine for business, too bad I discovered this gem on my last day. $2 dollar domestic drafts, awesome burgers, and some bad ass wings. Irish Screamers is an awesome wing flavor. Patrick and Reggie took care of us all night. I highly recommend this place. I wanted to try some authentic Irish cuisine but I opted for wings and a burger.

What a view from the front and friendly atmosphere in the back yard! We were staying in town to celebrate an anniversary and went to Meehan's to wait as our room was not ready yet... Amazing! WE snacked and drank and just enjoyed the place. The oysters were awesome...not just the flavor but the presentation. It was breath taking and very upscale for pub fare. The chips, really fries looked tasty and were covered in parm. Yummy! We came home and told all of our neighbors who are now planning a visit when we go down to see the lights....

My husband and I came here for lunch on 3/26 after a wonderful trip to the fort. This place is within walking distance and right on the river. We told the man that greeted us that we wanted to sit outside if possible. We had only seen one available table when we walked past (the weather was perfect for eating outside), but to our surprise they had an upstairs balcony that the man suggested we sit. He was right about the view! It took us a little while to be greeted by our waitress, and overall she wasn't very friendly. She got the job done, but was lacking in the personality department. At one point she was even rude. I asked if they had a specialty drink menu and she kind of snorted as if I asked something stupid. By the way, they don't. I think she realized her attitude later and was at least professional after this. But overall, the food was hot and fresh, tasted good, and the place was a nice way to spend a meal.

We were there the Saturday before St. Party's day. It was awful. There were native Irish people there having a good time. However, the service was awful. We waited 10 minutes to order a drink, and then another 10 minutes before we got up and left. We canceled the drink order on our way out. One of the worst places I have been too and I am full blooded Irish (Shannon). This is not the only time we have been there and received lousy service. It is a Shame given St. Augustine has no other close Irish bar. My wife and I find the No Name bar is a good place to go for cheap drinks and good service. It is just down the road.

Great burgers and beer, located on the water with great views. We were traveling with the dog and they allowed us to bring the dog out on to the deck. Worked out great.

Came here on a Friday night. Actually it was the meeting point for a Ghost Tour that I was going on later that night, so we decided to go in and have a couple drinks before we went on our tour. I must say, I was happy that we did. The environment was definitely Irish Pub feel. The people within the venue were casual and everyone looked to be having a good time. There was live music playing some hit songs and even taking request. The beer was nice and cold, got the Torpedo (IPA) draft beer, they were $5.50 each which is a good price as they are a double IPA so a little strong in alcohol. Downside is there was only one bathroom on the first floor that was a unisex bathroom that serves one person at a time... so yes, there is a line for the bathroom. There was a sign that said additional bathroom on second floor, but by the time I noticed it I was next in line so didn't want to risk going up and finding another line... not sure what the upstairs looked like or what the bathroom situation up there was as we had to leave after waiting for the bathrooms for out tour meet up time. I will say... this pub in comparison to some of the other places around Old Town St. Augustine is a must go to if you are looking for a mature crowd having a good time to good live music, great food, and great beer. Most of the other places in the area are filled with loud drunken college kids, which is fine if that is your scene otherwise, Meehans is a great go to (They do have an outdoor patio in the back) and if you are bar hopping, down the road you can find Stogies Jazz Club & Listening Room which has the same type of environment but no food, however cigars cigars cigars (see my review).

We came by for dinner on a week night. They have an upstairs and downstairs area along with an outdoor patio for when the temperature and weather permits outdoor seating. When we arrived we asked if we could sit upstairs but were informed by the host that it was "closed" upstairs for the evening. Hmmm, ok then.... We were seated downstairs on a booth, with a partial view of the water. Our server came over to take our drink order. We asked if any happy hour specials. Nope, nada. Then we asked the server (just to confirm), that the domestic drafts were 16 oz glasses. He said they were 12 oz. That does not seem possible to me, as every restaurant/bar I've ever been to it's always 16 oz (its called a pint for a reason, hello!).... seems like the server did not know what he was talking about there. Regardless, we ordered 2 bottled beers and 2 burgers. The food took a LONG time to come out considering they weren't very busy. Also, both of the burgers were overcooked compared to the temp we requested they be cooked at. Not the most amazing flavor I've had in a burger. However the fries were good and it was obvious they are hand made in restaurant, not frozen from a bag. The fries get 2 thumbs up. I was considering getting a few oysters, as they advertise them out front on their sign as well as in the menu, but there was nothing mentioned in the menu about being able to order a smaller amount, such as a half dozen, so I decided not to get any. Overall it was just okay, not stellar but not terrible. Would not go out of our way to come back here.

Good place for drinks, not food. After walking all of St. Augustine to look for a late night dinner we ended up here. Started in the restaurant area, limited menu. Decided to go to the back patio to eat. We ordered conch fritters, flatbread, and crab dip. The drinks took about 15 min to come out. The bartender was making one drink at a time, then walking it to the table. Seems more efficient to make them all at once. Drinks were pretty good, and the only reason this place didn't get 1 star. The conch fritters were bad. They were really soggy and I couldn't find conch in them. I have had conch in some awesome places (keys, bahamas, grand turk) but these were a poor excuse for an attempt. Crab dip was bland, no real crab flavor. The flatbread was only ok as well, although it looks like little ceasers could've done better. Good place to stop for a drink, but skip the food. Service was only ok, but we had been in earlier to get a drink and were ignored for 10 min.

It was late on a weekday night and all the other restaurants were closed so this was a dining option of last resort. Our large party which included two over-60 diners was totally out of place amongst the college age drinkers with their blue fish bowls of booze but the wait staff was still very nice. The clam chowder definitely exceeded my expectations. Would I go back there again? No. Not really my vibe. This is a college drinking hang out. But they get still get three stars for coming through and being not crappy.

I was hesitant to come here because of the reviews, but my family insisted that they wanted to eat outside in view of the beach. We all regretted it. Came here Saturday afternoon for lunch and asked for a table outside; however, after a wait of maybe 20 minutes, the hostess seated us inside. Now mind you, we were willing to wait longer to sit outside and didn't fuss, but when we reminded her that we asked to sit outdoors, she told us that she had put us down for the first available table. Alright then, people make mistakes. The only reason we came here was to sit outside, but whatever, we were famished. The server was nice enough and informed us that several menu items were unavailable, because they'd run out of supplies. Fine, I'm sure that happens everywhere. We placed our orders and after about ten minutes, he came back and informed us that two of orders were unavailable, so we'd have to choose something else. Ok fine. I'm not finicky. I just wanted to eat something. No big deal. Then we waited and waited. We waited like 40 minutes before we got our food and had a chance to ask for refills. Honestly, the place looked understaffed, because it looked like our server was the only one who was working. We had plenty of time on our hands, so we noticed things like tables not being cleared. We didn't complain to our server, because it probably wasn't his fault, but man, do they not employ bussers to do things like clear tables and refill drinks? It's a casual place so I'm not expecting to be waited on hand and foot, but jeez, it would have been nice, if someone came by at least once to update, offer to refill our drinks, or something, especially when the place didn't look that busy. The food ended up being decent. Not something to rave about, not disgusting, just ok. My mom and brother enjoyed the linguine. I had the drunken clams, which I didn't enjoy the taste of, but devoured anyway, because I was starving. Dad didn't like the salmon, but he ate it nonetheless. Overall, the experience as a whole soured me on the place and in my opinion, it wasn't worth the time or money. We're usually pretty generous and generally tip upwards of 20%, but for the first time in a good long while, we ended up only tipping 15%. Having worked in food service in college, I swear I'm very understanding and not high maintenance in the least, but this was incredibly disappointing. I suspect poor management is involved.

Food was good. Not the best not the wost. I would say that it is a good restaurant and the atmosphere was nice. Love the raw, but price was a little high on that as well.
