The only reason I'm giving this place a 4 is because I didn't try any of their food which leaves room for a fifth star next visit (which I'm sure I'll give this place). My boyfriend and I had a long day in the sun and were in the mood for a drink so we stopped by the bar outside and were taken care of by Maurice. For his fourth day as a bartender, I was more than impressed with my margarita and tequila sunrise. On top of that, one of their tvs had on AFV so we were having a good time laughing. Sunday's are one of their slower days and at the time no food was being served so when my boyfriend and I got hungry, Maurice was more than helpful to tell us the best places to eat nearby and even walked us out to show us the directions. Stopping by here randomly was a great decision!

I only sat outside at the patio bar so my review will be limited to that. The bar seats around ten. Drinks are pouring in tiny plastic cups, which is fine. Prices are St. Augustine tourist approved. Would definitely go back for a drink or five.

Be careful where you sit or you will get reprimanded! We chose a table outside of the bar area and ordered lunch. When the sun came out, we were in the sun and since the umbrellas on our table did not adjust, we moved up three tables. Marsha came over to take our order and when we told her we had ordered, she ordered us to move in a most ungracious way. Even my husband who is very mild mannered was offended. MARSHA was rude & bossy! We moved to another table, out of her "AREA." We had a 3 year old with us and he was on the ground (the tables are high) and she came through with food and said harshly while trying to pretend to be joking, " Move honey or I might run over you." She turned a pleasant lunch into an unpleasant one. The food on okay, but not worth the harassment.

We had lunch outside closest to Spanish St. The T Rex hero was amazing!!! Our server Lynne was an absolute delight. Great prices, relaxing atmosphere for everyone. Will definitely visit again.

This is by far the worst restaurant to eat at in the area. My wife and I ordered nachos due to the fact that we just wanted something quick and easy. However, it took 20 minutes and it looked like they were a week old and the cheese wasn't melted. We decided to eat them and have a beer. They were as good as they looked aka horrible. I became violently ill a few hours later. DO NOT EAT HERE

The live music was nice. The bar is very small so you get pretty quick service. It wasn't anything too special.

Drinks are over priced. Poor draft beer selection. Burger is over cooked, tasteless. Even the ketchup tasted bad. Only reason I give it two stars is because it is in a great location and it was edible.

We didn't eat but dropped in for drinks after a ghost tour. Staff was friendly and the service was quick. Fun little bar.

Poorly run restaurant all together. I recommend walking further down Saint George street and going to a real restaurant.

Had a great lunch here. Service was fast and friendly. The Cuban sandwich was delicious and the beers were cold!

We sat outside in the little courtyard area. The bartender out here is nothing less than amazing who shows what true southern hospitality is all about. He attended to my 3 children like they were royalty. Unfortunately I cannot speak for the food since we didn't order any. We stopped by here twice to order drinks and take a break from the heat and then the rainstorm. I'm giving 5 stars because of the exceptional service we have received from Clarence!

Not good. We went to the seafood festival but decided to eat on st Georges street since festival food is insanely expensive. And we like to try new places. I ordered a veggie burrito. It was more like a veggie wrap. I asked for that habanero sauce be omitted but they never offered a replacement like mayo, oil or something. My husband had the Cuban which was a glorified ham sandwich. No Cuban bread and the other stuff included on a Cuban. We will NOT be returning again. I suggest they update their menu or just offer bar foods. It looks great to hang with friends and drink. Hell the bartender looked like he already started! Also a downside. I see being friendly but he looked past friendly. Even the restaurant itself was a bit dirty and unkept. Your a tourist town for god sakes. If you want them to spend their money with you, then offer up something for it.

I've eaten here once while going to Flagler. The location is great for the tourists, there's a nice variety in seating, and the food is good. Now you're all probably wondering why I gave them 3/5 stars if the restaurant had the basics down, right? Well, our waiter didn't seem to be trained in handling credit and debit cards. Four friends and myself paid separately and it seemed to be too much of a task for our waiter. Everyone at the table had their bills paid respectively except for myself. The waiter swiped my card and charged me for everyone's meal a second time. It took me three trips back on three separate days to get the problem fixed and on the final trip, the same waiter told me he spoke to his boss and he could've easily just taken the money out of the cash register that day. I recommend paying cash here.

Great Personable staff affordable drinks deathly would come back to this place. Felt like a good local place in the middle of tourist hell.

Day or night, Local Heroes is a great relaxing fun place to stop in for a bite to eat, drinks, and entertainment. Everything on the menu is fresh and the service is always friendly. Try the T Rex and Teriyaki Chicken sandwiches (heroes).

Does anyone work here? 20 min wait for server/bartender is enough i guess. I really wanted to spend some time here but hey it looks like nobody cares.

I really like this place! Now, I'll be honest, this place takes a good 20-30 minutes to make your food, BUT it's delicious and worth the wait. This little bar is near the end of George Street close to the Fort. The bar outside is awesome and there's this cool black guy that works there who plays the best music. He also puts up with anybody and everybody, and also knows how to talk to people like he's known them forever. Anyways, we had my friends toddler with us so we sat near the back on a patio type thing. The waitress came out and took our drink orders, which came pretty fast, then took all 3 of our food orders and memorized it all - amazing. She was pretty patient with us and even during our orders we kinda kept going back and forth between each other (sorry, it wasn't on purpose!). We got our food and everything was right, pretty sweet. Our order took a bit, maybe a little over 20min, but OH DANG was it good. (Btw, might I add I did not like how so many items were blocked off the menu!!!) I ordered the fried shrimp with fries and a side salad and everything came at once. So sidenote, if you want a salad before the meal, ask for it! Oh, and before we left my friend had a conversation with someone inside who claimed to make the best fried pickles in town, so of course we ordered them - AND THEY WERE DANG GOOD! Overall, good experience here. The ambiance of St Augustine mixed with sweet little hole in the wall bar is awesome for a lovely Saturday evening :)

Stopped here for a quick bite while walking around St. Augustine, and was very disappointed. We waited a very long time after sitting down before anyone spoke to us, waited even longer for drinks served in Styrofoam and food served on disposable plates that turned out to be mediocre at best. Lastly was charged an amount that seemed high to me but I couldn't tell because I was never given an itemized receipt. This location is too good for somewhere so disappointing.

We stopped in for a late lunch. Coming in from St. George street the entrance was difficult to find. Only people inside were a group of about six. The waitress Hannah was friendly. Our sandwiches were great! The Gringo and the T-Rex. The service was very fast. My husband got a blueberry beer he enjoyed. My white sangria was ok. Great place for sandwiches.

I really wanted to like this place. I'll start with the positives: Quiet outdoor seating And now the negatives: Server brought my wife a drink in a cup that had a pinhole leak. We asked for a new cup. The server brought it 10 minutes later after being reminded twice. Drinks were never once refilled Condiments were asked for but never received even after a reminder. We borrowed from the people at the next table. All 3 burgers ordered by our table were overcooked and dry. The bun on my burger was stale. It took 15 minutes to get our check after 2 reminders (anyone noticing a trend here?). Overall, we were extremely disappointed and will likely not return. In truth, the only reason the server received over 15% is because we didn't want to wait an additional 20 minutes for change. As a general statement, don't eat ANYWHERE on St. George Street if you care about quality of food and service. These places are tourist traps that don't have to rely on repeat customers.

This is a bar and grill now and the burgers are alwas fresh never frozen but my favorite is the black bean burger. I have not yet found a veggie burger as good at this one !!!!

Fittingly enough, Local Heroes is a place where St. Augustine locals eat--which means it's good food, it's off the main tourist paths, and it's a good place for meeting friends for a lively lunch or for chilling with a book and a sandwich for an hour or so. The best descriptor for the menu here is "fresh". Nothing I've had at Local Heroes tastes like it was frozen at any point. They mix their own sauces, which are added in some degree to most of their sandwiches and wraps, and tend to hit a good median between overwhelming the flavor of the main ingredient and complimenting it. Unless they're slammed, food is prepared fairly quickly (but then, what do you expect from sandwiches?). The wraps are wrapped tightly enough that you don't need a fork til the last few bites. Canned sodas and crisp chips compliment the menu nicely, and they have Rogue "Dead Guy" Ale on tap--very nice, and unusual in this area. Where Local Heroes falls off is in the service. First, it's a bit nebulous whether they want it to be a seated restaurant or a counter walk-up place. There is an "Order Here" counter, but you aren't charged when you order, they bring the bill by the table later (sometimes, much later). Sometimes, too, there are servers on hand that will ask you to have a seat and take your order at the table. So it's never entirely clear what the place wants its order/pay process to be. Even when they do go by a seated table/server method, considering the low customer volume at lunch time, they're often slow to come around to drop the bill or check on things. And I have seen a few orders mixed up between tables in the small handful of times I've been there. All that said, it's forgivable. The food is good, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the prices are nice and low. I envision many a Local Heroes lunch in the future.

Ok so it's been a couple of years since I've been here, but I am taking a trip down memory lane this morning. This place (as of last time I visited) was phenomenal. With a unique and ever evolving menu, it really brought some flare to the town. The owner is out of Colorado and really knows his stuff. If they still have it on the menu, I definitely recommend the Donna. I hope to make it back down there very soon!

I'm a local in St. Augustine. I'd never been here and when my folks came in to town, we stopped in for a beer and a snack. The server, William, informed us that it was two for one Happy Hour on draft beers. We all ordered a beer on the draft menu. Turns out what my parents ordered is no longer on tap. When we questioned it, the guy who delivered our beers very rudely walked away with the beers. There seemed to be a big debate over what to do at the bar. About 5 mins later William came by to apologize. I explained that they should jut give them the beers at the happy hour price or let them order a beer that was on tap. They ended up giving them the happy hour prices and a couple warm beers ( they'd been sitting out for a few mins by them). We also ordered chips and guac and chips and hummus. By the time we were halfway through our 2nd beers... We received our chips and guac... The hummus never came. It's a shame... As a local, I want to give business to local businesses. The server William tried to make it better... He was the only one that may have salvaged this place for me.

We stumbled upon this cafe accidentally when making a quick stop in St. Augustine. It's a bit off the beaten path (just off the main tourist area) - but well worth the effort. The food was definitely fresh, made to order. The atmostphere was very casual and the staff was quite friendly and helpful.
