This is always one of my first stops when I come to visit the area. The best happy hours around, and since we know it's cash only, we're ready. The view can't be beat. And I know I'm not in the big city, so I'm relaxed and am not in a hurry, so the pace here is just fine. I just look out at the water, and life is good. The food is good as well.

I have no clue about the food here...but it is a good place to go if you want a cold drink, live music, and a great view. Positive-Matthew is awesome! Negatives-only accepts cash, and the ladies restroom is not so great. I would go back. 3.95 pitcher happy hour & 2.95 22 ounce drafts.

This place has some great food had super-reasonable prices. Kind of a dive but they make up for it with great food and also a nice view of the gulf. Their fish & chips are amazing but I get them with garlic fries. They are to die for. I just love this little place.

Great location and beach feel. Right on the water. Food average bar food but the atmosphere trumped any flavor. Would definitely return.

#1 Woody's does NOT accept plastic! - Cash only ! -and they don't advertise this very well. I had a very embarrassing moment there one day when all I had was a card and no cash. #2 the service is usually bad - surly waitstaff who don't hide their disdain for customers very well. It's really a shame, the location and the view this place has is fantastic- but like anything else it's the people that make the difference. Rules For Restaurants- flickr.com/photos/307591…

I absolutely LOVE Woody's!! The day I moved to St Pete Beach, it was our go to bar...Tall drafts & GREAT FUN!! Food has always been good ~ try the Ultimate Cheezburger. Always always a good time, atmosphere is the beach, HELLO! Sit up at the bar which is actually on the outside...enjoy!

This is our second visit in three days and well worth it! The shrimp is as perfect as it can be.

If you are visiting St. Pete, do what the locals do and visit Woody's. This very casual waterfront bar and grill is a must for relaxing and good times. Woody's reasonably priced menu is a cut above similar establishments in the beach area. The grouper sandwich is exemplary. Noteworthy, is the spectacular sunsets and friendly crowd. Parking is on the tight side do you might have to drive around some. If you only have one chance to visit, plan coming during sunset. Expect crowds during high season.

Loved the atmosphere! There was a great live musician who takes any and all requests, and manages to impress all the while. The food was great but it did take a very long time to arrive. However, it was good nonetheless! The place was surprisingly full of old people at the time, which kind of put a dent in our plans of going out and partying; but thanks to the great DJ, we were able to dance to tracks like The Cupid Shuffle, Cha-Cha Slide, etc! Overall, a great place.

Shrimp was flied. Flied seafood is when you serve food that was fried after being battered, kitchen flies and all.

Great service! Food was unbelievable! The coconut shrimp was the best I've ever had! Pro: it is the perfect restaurant on the pier. Has comfortable feeling. Staff were nice. Live music on Friday night. Con: cash only but they do have an ATM. :) blackened shrimp was super spicy but delicious! :)

I love this place. Great drinks and good food at a decent price. Indoor or outdoor seating, and great specials on drinks a few days a week at the bar. They have daily food specials as well. I usually have the Surf and Turf because the price can't be beat $14.95! Be aware that they don't accept credit cards, but they have an ATM on site for those who aren't prepared to pay cash.

Ho hum. Good location, but not what I had hoped for. Pros: location is on the bay and there is ample outdoor seating. Con: happy hour prices do not apply to outdoor seating.

Haven't been to Woodys in many years, so when I asked the bartender if they had grouper, he gave me a passive aggressive answer with a touch of attitude by saying, "we haven't had grouper in over 7 years". Just saying we don't carry grouper anymore would've worked just fine. I had the blackened Mahi sandwich with no bun and it was really good, nice portion of fish and even the coleslaw was very tasty. Beer was ice cold and I had a nice overall experience, great place to meet and chat with people from out of town. The only negative thing is they still don't take credit cards which really is ridiculous in 2015, seriously they need to quit being cheap and making people use their ATM for a $2.50 charge. So make sure if you go there bring plenty of cash.

We've been coming to this area for a few years- and every single time we eat out somewhere , desperately seeking out wonderful food and great atmosphere - my wife and I look at each other and say to each other "why the hell didn't we just go back to Woody's" The food is absolutely wonderful and fresh and expertly prepared. I, nor anyone else I have gone to Woody's with, has ever had anything but an awesome meal. You want a beautiful piece of fish- this is the place You want some awesome apps- this is the place You want a perfect drink on the breezy water-way- here! Great service? GO FRIGGIN' HERE!!! Makes a great romantic evening on the water or the perfect place to go with the whole family . Their menu is not huge , but it has just the right stuff, and everything they do, they do well. Sure, try other places- but at the end of the day- you are just gonna wish you went back to Woody's

The view is of the back of some hotels is the most redeeming quality here. The bar itself is run-down (maybe we call that "beach charm"). We ordered the blackened fish tacos on the recommendation of the waitress ("they're amazing!"). Aside from being very full, the blackened fish tacos were mushy and kind of soupy, topped with over-ripe mushy tomatoes. We also ordered the fried clams; flavor was decent but they were gritty--almost like chewing sand. The drinks (Long Island iced tea and frozen margarita) were really just lemon and lime-flavored ice. Not quite seeing the value for $54 plus tip. I can see why they don't take credit cards--you'd be calling your card company to dispute the charges.

Our Girls' Getaway wrapped up with lunch at Woody's -- the perfect ending to our weekend! We scored an outside picnic table with an ample umbrella to provide shade, a great mix with our gorgeous waterfront view. The service was good, not stellar, but sufficient. The food was fantastic, casual, and great for the price. I asked for the chicken club wrap, but with mahi instead of chicken, and they happily obliged. Make the investment in a side of fries, both the spicy and garlic versions were satisfying and a step up from standard spuds. Tip: indulge in a Bloody Mary; here, they're perfectly mixed and for $6 you can afford to have two. I'll definitely be back!!!

Please visit this place if you are near St.Pete beach. It's a great low key, laid back beach grill. The fish was the best I've had and seasoned perfectly. Nice view of the sunset and a few dolphins.

Woody's is everything you'd expect from a beach bar! Good food, good Happy Hour, and a beautiful view. It's not gourmet, but it's a great place to relax, have a drink, and enjoy a basket of seafood.

I give Woody's two stars instead of one because it's on the water, they have a decent amount of parking, the burgers are good and they have good beer specials. Other than that, while it's a nice place and typically full of nice patrons who are fun to talk to, it just doesn't deliver in most other areas and there are better places on St Pete Beach to go to, and it's cash only. I mean really? Here we are in 2015 and you don't accept credit cards? I get it, the fees, but any reasonable business can negotiate that down into the 2% range (excluding Amex) and why turn away customers over 2%? There are probably a multitude of ways to save the 2% elsewhere in the business. Anyway, you'll find Woody's has a ton of local retirees present most days of the week, but especially Sunday and Monday when they have a lot of drink specials which include $3 house margaritas. That can be a good thing if you like meeting all kinds of interesting people from all over the place, but it's not a 20-something hang out kind of place so don't go there expecting a 'beach bar' vibe. They have very good beer specials on Sundays and Mondays, so if you're a beer drinker, that's your time. The house margaritas are weak and taste a bit like lemon lime gatorade, so even though they're only $3, I'd keep the $3 in my pocket and head on up to VIP Mexican in Treasure Island where you probably get three or four times the booze in their $5 margarita. The food is average. What I recommend not ordering is the Ahi Tuna dinner. It looks fantastic, but I've had it four or five times now and three of the times the fish tasted a bit aged, and not in a good way; had a very not so fresh aftertaste to it. The fries, spicy fries and garlic fries are all great. Their burgers are pretty good, but don't hold a candle to Willy's Burgers & Booze across the street, so if you're a burger snob and don't mind being a block from the water instead of on the water, Willys is the better choice. Their seafood is decent but Oyster Shucker, also across the street, is better, and they also have a view of the water and outdoor seating, so again, Woody's comes up a bit short. Their peel n' eat shrimp are okay, but Crab Daddy's a block down is better. The parking is in unpaved lots on either side of the building and unfortunately has no markers whatsoever, which is not the best situation when a lot of the patrons are elderly. You'll find cars just randomly parked at all angles and all distances away from each other, so it can make you very nervous about whether or not someone is going to misjudge whether they can fit in next to you. On weekends there's often a one man band that plays; he's entertaining so that is one plus for visiting during the crowded weekend times. Service has been kind of random for me. Sometimes you can sit for quite a long time, other times it's great. I recommend the bar if at all possible. So, to sum it up, there's just one thing after another where Woody's is average for a particular thing and someone else close by does it better. Better margaritas, VIP. Better burgers, Willys. Better seafood Oyster Shucker. Better music options, Crab Daddy's, Toasted Monkey, Jimmy B's, PCI Bar. Better water view, Jimmy B's, Bongos, Brass Monkey. Better overall menu, Madaelina Cottage. Better straight boozing with locals, Swigwam.

Let me preface my review by saying that you must either doing things really horrible or really well for me to rate a restaurant a 1 star or 5 star on Yelp's review scale....It is my priority as a Elite Reviewer and fellow business owner to review honestly and without bias or other people's opinions.... We went to Woody's this last Wednesday evening after hearing from a friend that they had good food in the area. We arrived around 8:30 PM and was told by one of the employee's to seat ourselves. We chose to take up a table on the outdoor patio overlooking the inter coastal waterway. After being seated we waited about 5 minutes to be greeted by a server. Upon greeting us she seemed to be unfriendly right off of the bat and when questioned about what she would recommend for food choices she seemed to be perturbed as though we were asking to much of her time or knowledge of the menu. I myself ordered water and my friends various beers.....After waiting about another 8-10 minutes the beverages were served and our entree order's taken. After placing our entree orders our server went AWOL. We were left to sit at our outdoor picnic table with empty beverages and no one to fill them. Finally after about 20 minutes a guy brought out our entree's and dropped them off by the table...Again the overall aura he was giving off was less than pleasant or accommodating. Upon quickly surveying the plates we immediately noticed that my friends fish tacos were served with tomatoes which he had specifically ordered to come sans tomatoes due to a food allergy. He asked the gentleman to be sure to ask the kitchen to prepare them fresh again so there would be no hint of tomatoes left on the food. The fish tacos was brought back out within about 3 minutes and reserved. After closer inspection of the food they basically just took off the tomatoes and reserved the dish.....due to the amount of tomato seed and juice still on the fish tacos. He then had to get up speak to another waitress to discuss with her the issue and have it corrected which she did immediately. Between the 3 servers we had up to this period this is the only server that was friendly and accommodating to our request. She returned with the tacos about 10 minutes or so later freshly re-prepared. After returning we requested a refill on beverages which she accommodated within about 5 to 6 minutes....After this interaction with the server our table was never revisited until we personally got up to flag down our original server and asked for the check. Pretty much on service, attitude, cleanliness and overall experience I rate Woody's a 1 Star.....I will say in this review out of ALL of the entree's I was the most pleased. I ordered the Wednesday night special which was the fish & chips with fries and an extra side of coleslaw. My food was served hot and tasting great. Everyone else pretty much said they food was par for the course and wasn't overall excited about it probably due to the lack of customer service and overall horrible service we had experienced up to this point. I will give them a 1 star rating with good conscience based on my entree....Based on the overall experience, poor attitude, service and lack of customer appreciation because they made us feel very unwelcome and had displayed no concern over our friends food allergy by serving the exact same dish twice with no apprehension.I can legitimately say I would not go back to this restaurant unless they started responding to their bad reviews on yelp and showed concern for their overall customer satisfaction. It is rather easy for me to recommend to fellow Yelper's to do their research before they try this restaurant and listen to the many 1 & 2 star reviews they have received, I wish we would have!

Best happy hour around! From 2 - 6 it's pitchers of domestic beer for $3.75... Just be advised that this is "at the bar" only. It would not be fair to the servers working the tables if you were taking up valuable, i.e. tip-producing, real estate. However, it was a cold and rainy on our just-before-sunset visit (we dashed over from Corey Ave.), so not a soul was outside. After checking with the server that walked by, she said it won't be a problem, TONIGHT. I got the feeling I had been warned. Still, it was a great place to almost catch a sunset... Sadly the clouds did not cooperate. When the weather is nice, it is a great spot for a bite outside* with a beautiful view of the Gulf and Blind Pass. Oh, and just so you're not surprised, Woody's is CASH ONLY (however there is an ATM inside). PS. I don't know how many wings are in a pound, but on Tuesday wings are $5.99 a pound. Sounds like a deal to me. * Last time I ate here the food was fine, tonight we were just drinking to the sunset.

Went for lunch with a couple friends view is awesome on the patio. Ordered the burger and spicy fries. They were great. My wife had the Caribbean chicken sandwich with onion rings which she enjoyed My friends had the blackened grouper sandwich and fries. They both enjoyed as well. I would say food wise it was a 4 atmosphere was a 5 and service probably a 2. Got food quick but drinks were always empty guy seemed to just disappear for long periods. He didn't have a lot of tables but for some reason we didn't get drinks refilled. I'm not going to let that effect the review though as cool place and good food.

Why 3 stars? Because I felt like I was in a retirement home. --- --- --- It was like something out of a sitcom. My girlfriend and I were the hunt for decent food, outdoors, and on the water. We tossed around many ideas and consulted our friends of long-standing residence in Pinellas County...but eventually chose Woody's. As we entered the premises, we discovered that we were among more blue hairs than the cutting room floor of a Simpsons storyboard. I remarked at one point, when I'm retired, this is where I need to be. Not only were there countless men and women 65 & up, but they were all as happy as a squirrel in a nuthouse. I've definitely never seen that many old folk, THAT happy at one time before. There was a guy singing songs and playing piano. He seemed alright, but there were too many times that he would definitely be accused of "trying too hard." He thought he was auditioning for American Idol, and seemed to forget that he was just playing to an old crowd of 100 people in St. Pete. He was definitely not good enough for anything beyond that. As for the food? Typically what you would expect for a divey place on the water. Typical burger, typical drink menu, typical fruity cocktail for the girlfriend. Was it horrible? No. Would I ever go back? Probably not in the next 40 years.

OMG-this place is delicious! Clam basket was an 8/10. The clams definitely tasted fresh. Didn't like that there was too much breading. Coconut shrimp was 10/10. Perfect crust to shrimp ratio, and about of coconut. They were also big and juicy. My serving had 5. Mahi dinner-blackened was 10/10. Perfectly seasoned with lots of romain lettuce so I ate it like a wrap. It was so moist it needed no sauce, and was good in its own. Coleslaw was 5/10. It's homemade they said, and it was ok; nothing out of the ordinary, though. Garlic fries were 10/10. Probably the only fries I've had so far that would get a 10. They were covered in real garlic and a mixture of spices. Breath was stinking but taste was crazy good. Service was initially slow, but they were packed when we got there. It is on the water and most of the seating oversees the water; outside. Live music as well. Would eat it all again!

Loved this place right on the water...lots of seniors so you know the food is good value...saw dolphins and boaters in the blind pass waterway. Crowd was pretty friendly, and mixture of locals and tourist. Food was okay...grouper sandwich and fries was good.... Waitress friendly and quick service. Happy hour and live entertainment indoors...

Fun place right on the water. Mixture of local and tourists having fun together. great afternoon margarita specials till 6 o'clock. Also happy hour appetizers 1/2 prices, but only available if you sit at the bar. Who'da thunk? Very casual.

My friend Donna and I ended up at Woody's after a long hot day at the beach. The set-up was cute and on the water. It's not a place to go for cold A/C. The inside was not cold so we opted to sit outside. For my drink, I wanted something refreshing so I ordered a traditional mojito and it hit the spot! For lunch I had the blackened fish sandwich. It came with a side a coleslaw, which was cold and crunchy just the way I like it. The piece of fish was huge! It was seasoned to perfection. I really enjoyed it. The service was nothing to rave about so I'll call it average. Donna had the fish tacos and she said that she was "pleasantly surprised." The portion was generous and she ended up taking half of it to go. My only real disappointment was with the ladies room. It's super small and needs some major updating. I heard Woody's has good chicken wings so I might go back and try those.

As a long time St Pete Beach resident, avoid at all costs. The owner is a TERRIBLE person, to customers and worse to staff. Food is marginal at best. Has potential, but dragged down. Ask a local for a recommendation, and they will NOT tell you Woodys.

I was in St Pete for work and stumbled upon Woody's Waterfront Grill. This place is awesome if you only care about the view! The customers here are mostly the older retired crowd. I like this place because we were able to look out into the nice waters while we ate. It was a hot as hell day, so we needed to sit in the shade. I would have hated it if we had to sit out in the sun. And, since it was around noon, the whole area was a little too bright. We were there on a Tuesday so I was able to take advantage of their special Naked wings $5.99/lb on Tuesdays. The wings were decent, average. The ranch that came with it didn't help it much. The garlic fries were good, but I would have liked more garlic in it. The service here was okay. And the food was the type of food you would get in a bar. I'd like to try out the other restaurants St Pete has to offer before I come back here. Also, this place is Cash Only. However they have an ATM in the bar.
(3)
Anne S.
The service was not that great this time. You would think with 12 of us there they would be very accommodating. Also our meal was dropped, had to wait, and never offered a reduction in our bill. We wouldn't have taken the reduction as it was and accident, but would have been nice to have had the offer.

Went there tonight for some quick seafood in a laid back environment. I ordered the buffalo shrimp which were pretty good and onion rings, which were a bit overlooked/ maybe old grease to fry them in. The music was good, service was ok.... Definitely, will go back because for the price it is worth the trip there.

This is a laid back beach bar and restaurant right on the water. Loved the fact it was very limited in where you can smoke unlike many of open air bars on the beach. Went there on a Wednesday night and they had live music and margarita specials. The live music was a nice touch, loud enough to be heard but we were still able to converse talking at normal levels. Ordered the chicken wings. Normally I don't like breaded wings but they do an excellent job. The wings came out crispy and were decently sized. As an added bonus, Eric the bartender is pretty funny.

We go to woody's every summer when we're in St. Pete. We enjoy the staff and the food is good. There are always local people at the bar and they are always friendly. It's a nice place to get some food and enjoy the water without the beach crowd. Try the fish spread it's fresh and really good.

Great place to relax after a long day at the beach. Usually very busy so be prepared to wait for a seat, and the service, although excellent, is a little slow. Food is exceptional!

As a Floridian I've been to many great water bars and restaurants. Woody's is not one of those. 1) Dirty inside and out. 2) Rude, condescending waitstaff. 3) No signs announcing that they don't accept credit cards, and the waiter only informed us - AFTER - I laid my credit card down attempting to pay the bill. Then he told me there was a convenient ATM - right inside! Yes, that convenient ATM -- charged me a total $5.00 to get $20 out. The food was mediocre. Paper plates and plastic knives and forks. Unadvisably, I got the surf and turf. Ever try to cut a grisselly, fat laden piece of meat with a plastic knife on a foam paper plate? HA! The music was hideous. An old guy playing along to sequenced tunes - and singing badly. I thought to myself - does the management really think that this is what people enjoy? Hideous. The guy took every classic rock tune from the 1970's and butchered it by turning it into a godawful country-sounding tune. ie: "Yaa- ouuuuuu - yaa - oouuu shook me aaaaawwwwwlllll night long. Yea ya did! Yaaa had me rawkin!!! Yaaaa - yaaa-ouuuuu - shook me aaaaawwwwll night long." It took a ton of mouthwash and quite a few q-tips to get this evening purged from my body. Don't walk, RUN - as fast as you can from this establishment.

Located off the beaten path, and right on the water. Happy hour at the bar is from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM which includes drinks and a limited food menu. We had the chicken wings, fried gulf shrimp and seasoned fries. The food was excellent and I highly recommend this place.

Woody's Waterfront is a happy place-- full of character-- and JD the Entertainer is GREAT; he has so much personality and is a great singer and musician. We and several other couples slow danced to his music. We were there at night; the place is beachfront and must be enjoyable during the day. Unfortunately, I am unable to critique the food or drinks. We went there with the intention of enjoying drinks while listening to the live entertainment. In the 1/2 hour we were there, noone came by our seats to take our drink order, and we weren't particularly thirsty, having just overeaten at a great restaurant, so we didn't go out of our way to walk over to the bar to order drinks.

t's just great to sit here on the patio and enjoy his dinner. Great fish and meat dishes do not make the right choice of course easier.and the original Woody Burger not to forget! You may be sitting very relaxed and can be of the friendly service just enjoy. You have to experience it, you will not forget it!!

Great location on the water. Our bill was around $90 we had lots of appetizers and quite a few drinks. The crab and grit cakes were great as was the wings, clams and onion rings. The oysters were a little fishy. But overall a great casual place to hang out with friends, have some drinks while taking in the great view

A little dirty and not recommended on a rainy day as they don't really have walls. The whole place is like a deck and they just have tarps as walls. Grandma took us here as a favorite spot for music (Carl's Piano) and grub. I guess on the weekends, this is the place to be for drinks and dancing on the water's edge. I can definitely see why, it has a great view. Unfortunately, it was MOnday and raining when we went. So, no dice there. It's CASH ONLY. Service was nice, but not interested. Menu was simple, wings, burgers, dogs. I got chicken fingers and they were run of the mill. I probably would not come back here to eat. Just drinks and music. I'm pretty sure that's what everyone else does too. FYI: A large person cannot fit in their tiny tiny bathrooms and leave you purse at your table as there's no place to set it in there.
(3)

First things first: CASH ONLY. Everything here is good! It's right on the water (hence the name) and it is a gorgeous view. The place across the street will be empty and this place will be completely packed. It's great for locals and tourists. Whenever my family comes in town they always mention this place and how as soon as they get here, "we have to get a mudslide from that one place!" We've done the peel 'n' eat shrimp, burgers, poppers, smoked fish spread and it's all been good. This is just a really fun place to enjoy the sun, water and company you're with.
(5)

The live entertainment was great. However, the food was not good. The peel and eat shrimp were just ok. They are pretty large. But the twin filet mignon was extremely below average. Had a charred almost burnt taste and little to no seasoning. The Caesar salad was just blah and the garlic mash was meh. I wouldn't take anyone here except for the view and to listen to the guy sing songs reminiscent of jimmy buffet. Other than that, I say skip it. Besides, what kind of establishment doesn't have vegetables. Booooo!!

Came here on a Monday afternoon after several hours on the beach. Was able to score a table on the water. Fun to watch dolphins play from this vantage point. Typical bar type food. Nothing different that what you'd expect at your neighborhood pub. Sure, you pay a bit more for the location, but you can't watch dolphins swimming in the pond back home! The special was the "BIG FISH". Fried haddock filet with fries. Nothing special... but not bad either. Wash it down with a beer and it's all good. NOTE - Cash only. Happy Hour ONLY at the bar. Get a t-shirt.

Came here on Easter in the early afternoon and the place was hopping! Carl was playing his piano, people were dancing and food was moving out at a fast pace. No more than 10 minutes after arriving, a bad-ass storm rolled through, forcing people to squeeze under the protective awnings. As the wait staff ran around rescuing the baskets/napkins, we continued to enjoy the music. Had eight U'Peel 'Em shrimp coated in a spicy hot powder, the Famous Fish Sandwich (blackened) and Coconut Shrimp. All were quite tasty. A very laid-back spot on Blind Pass, it's been there since 1945 as a bait house and later on the Sunset Inn. I want to come back soon and soak up the local flavor.

Some friends and I went down to St. Pete Beach for a beautiful afternoon of sun and surf, and wanted to grab some lunch on the way back home. They used to live in the area and recommended Woody's, so we stopped on in. We grabbed a seat at the bar, and enjoyed the salty sea air and view as we ordered up some drinks. The bartender was super friendly and helpful in recommending good food. We ordered up some salads and sandwiches and just enjoyed the beautiful St. Pete afternoon. I was shocked when I got my fried fish sandwich. I think they put about 5lbs of fried fish on a standard bun, this thing was MASSIVE. I could've easily put that much fish on 3 buns, so I was definitely happy about the amount of fish I received. However, it definitely could've tasted a little better- they put some lettuce and tomato on top, but no tartar sauce or homemade seafood sauce which would've put it over the top. It was a bit dry, but overall very tasty and it filled me up. The salads also looked delicious and were very fresh. Mozarella Sticks are also done right here- there's nothing better than a crispy, thick, cheesy Mozarella stick, and you can get those here at Woody's. Overall, had a good experience here, but nothing knocked my socks off. Very chill atmosphere, GREAT service, and the food was good. Not great, but certainly perfect for an afternoon lunch on the water. Would definitely recommend you stop in sometime and grab a bite, and I would have no problems coming back.

other than the location woodys has absolutely nothing going for it the "fresh" fish is panga which is a vietnamese cat fish the cooks don't wear gloves nor do the food prepares and hand washing is seldom. For paying that much and being that close to the ocean you think you could get fresh fish not to mention the expensive drinks, the wait staff is also undereducated on their below par means, and every dish comes with a plastic fork and knife sticking out of it. WALK ACROSS THE STREET TO WILLYS GREAT FOOD AND CHEAP DRINKS!

Food was good, bartender/server was great, but after having paid for a meal for three persons .. when leaving we were told in very rude terms to leave the parking lot. I can only assume that the woman who owns the place did not take the trouble to note that I was a customer and thought we were just parking in her lot.. After the way she spoke, I would have to say the first three letters of "assume" apply to her

I can always watch what's going on at this place from where we stay. Hitting their specials in the afternoon is great, especially half price clam strips. A lot of folks really love their wings, I think their seafood is much better. Great place to watch the sunset but please bring CASH.

Loved this place! Happy hour starts at 2! Wings are amazeballs! $2.95 22oz. domestics all day everyday! Miami Vice was perfect.... We will definitely be back here at woodys next time were in the area.

Just the kind of place I was looking for on our vacation to St Pete Beach! From the outside, it looks like a trailer park adorned with tacky hanging lights. It looked like a dive. My group actually thought about skipping this place, but since we were referred to the place and all we wanted were drinks, we decided to try it out. Best decision made that night! The whole place looks like a dock on the water, and we sat in the patio on the waterfront. Live entertainment that night was JD on the keyboard, and he was really fun. Our server introduced himself as Eddie, but I'm pretty sure his name was Kyle. He was fun like that. Great service. We only had drinks, no food. From what I could tell though, this place was mostly for drinks and music. No problem with that. Only drawbacks: CASH only and small bathrooms. Also something else that left a bad taste in our mouths: someone whom I can only assume was the owner of the place totally reamed out another server for starting to clean up and stack chairs when the night was starting to die down. She was very obviously upset with him for doing this while customers were still present, and she used a lot of colorful language and apparently did not mind that she was doing this in front of several groups of customers. After she left, he just looked at us, shrugged his shoulders, and grinned. We all just looked at each other awkwardly for a few seconds and then just shrugged it off too. Overall, this place was not the fanciest, but that was perfectly fine with me. I wanted a place that catered to locals and tourists, and had that "island vacation" feel. I found it at Woody's Waterfront.

This is a great casual seafood restaurant, we'd make a point to take all of our out of town guests here for good food, live music (guy playing guitar) and the breezy ambiance of the intercoastal. Now that we don't live in Tampa anymore, going to Woody's is really a treat. We had used to make the hour drive from our house in Tampa twice a month but now we have to plan a trip around it. They may have other things on menu besides the tuna steak dinner or the fish dinner (rare and blackened) but we always get the same thing because it's so good. Bring cash, an appetite and a sweater: even in the summer it's surprisingly cool in the evenings.

Just good food right on the water. Try some delicious seafood!

So you know this place is cash only, if you forget there is an atm inside. This is a great little place right on the water, nothing fancy just good staff and good food. I had the blackened mahi sandwhich (12.95) was quite yummy, lots of bread but that was easily removed. Mom had the Fish Bites (7.95) which were fabulous. $3- 22 oz beers, WOW, that alone is worth your visit. There is outdoor and indoor seating, I would bring a light jacket in the winter if you sit outside, a bit windy. Overall a great place to grab a good bit with a great view!!

Ok, ok...It may be pretty ordinary, but if you know what you are heading into, it's great! It's a plain and simple BEACH BAR! The fabulous thing about Woody's is that I live approximately a 1/2 block away from it... When I am not there, sitting outside, watching the sunset while drinking an extremely cheap, yet delicious Long Island Iced Tea... I always hear what's going on... 9/10 times it's a blast... lot's of laughing...there is always this laid-back, fun atmosphere... with live music almost every night. I guess I really appreciate people having a good time. Lord knows I love a good time! Cheers to Woodys! I think I'll go there tonight! Woop!

Woodys is a great super-casual spot for a drink and light lunch, especially when sitting outside right by the water! Their fish spread is amazing, I believe it's smoked amberjack, truly wonderful (although it would be even more wonderful if they served it with whole crackers instead of broken cracker crumbs! Come on Woodys, do you keep your crackers under all the pots and pans???). Drinks are good, service is hit or miss but it really doesn't matter, and food is good (although we pretty much only get apps). I would for sure recommend!

Woody's is one of my fave places to go in St. Pete Beach. This is a very basic beach bar, right on the water and it is certainly not fancy, but it is exactly what it should be for where it is. The menu is basic, with all of the fried stuff you see at all of the other beach places, but the crab cakes and the smoked fish spread are excellent! The beers are cold and cheap and the cocktails are great. My one complaint is that the service can be patchy depending on who you get. It ranges from excellent to mediocre, so good luck - I hope you get one of the good ones!

CASH ONLY! Nice of them to tell you after you get your meal...ggrrrr. The crawfish dip was a nice change of pace. Blackend fish sandwich was fairly decent and a good sized portion of fish. Fried shrimp with fries was pretty much what you would expect it to be. Overall, not a bad place if you are looking for the usual beach fare. Killer view.

my parents have been coming here since the 70's so i've been coming here for 30 years (albeit many as a child!).. the atmosphere is very laid back, the food is good for a beach bar and live bands on the weekends are always fun. if you are a fish fan, make sure to get the fish spread, it's the best! also love the clam strips and spicy wings. make note this is a cash only place, so be prepared to pay with cash or you will need to get money from the high service fee atm in the bar.

Several visits to this run down beach bar were enough. Greasy fish is the house specialty. One time I sat at the bar and made the mistake of looking into the kitchen--it was fly central. A place to have a beer at sunset maybe.

eh. We didn't get to eat here but we would have liked to. We put our names on a list in order to sit down. Stood around, stood around...waiting....sigh. Finally one of the people in our group noticed a table empty and it sat empty for a while. In fact, no one had been sitting at it the whole time. So he asked a waitess, is this table open? Cane we sit here? Yeah of course, she says. Oooook. So we sit. wait wait wait. A waitress stops by and tells us she's leaving, new shift. She wasn't sure when the girl taking over would be out but she'd tell her we were there. Ok. wait wait wait 2 tables nearby also sat with no menus, drinks...service. One guy at another table got up to find the waitress. All the while a guy on a guitar is playing ok music (if you're 50) but it was turned up to an ear splitting volume, it was kind of annoying. Finally we just said forget it and went to a place up the street.

Went on a weeknight...sunset is beautiful from here. The boiled shrimp and fish spread were good. The "special" of fried fish was AWFUL. The breading was thick and looked like hard "peanut brittle" on the outside; under cooked, wet and soggy on the inside. The waitress was not the friendliest and although she took it back as requested it was apparent she wasn't thrilled (think it, feel it....but don't show it to the customer). Not rushing back.

Woody's is a good place to go once or twice, or if you're a tourist. You're paying for the view, and the ability to sit on a deck, directly next to the water and watch boats pass, have seagulls sit on the wires above your head and fight for food that you drop and the sometimes live music. You can sit in your bathing suit and really don't even need shoes- but you'll wish some people weren't dressed this way. I'm not a fan of fish, so maybe the seafood is better but the chicken and hamburgers are what I call typical beach tourist food. It's edible, doesn't have much taste, not the greatest quality, but they know they can jack up the prices because tourists will pay for it and think it's delicious because they're taking in the "WONDERFUL" view. You'll pull into a sandy parking lot, probably forget your sunglasses, kick back some beer and hear a lot of Jimmy Buffett. The staff is friendly, it used to be kind of a hip place for the sun burned crowd over 40-50 but I think now it's becoming a hip place for younger 20-somethings as well. There's limited indoor seating and a pool table in the back. Like I said, ok once or twice, or if you're a tourist. Otherwise go somewhere decent then walk the beach after if that's what you're looking for.

We went just for drinks and some appetizers and had the best time ever. Instantly, we felt like a local and regular and were serenaded for my cousin's birthday by the Double M band (they are interesting) and the best of all...PADDLEBALL BILLY (the former owner of the Harp & Thistle come to find out...and a native Detroiter, go Tigers). Great location, want to visit during the day.

Any time I visit St. Pete beach, I always make an effort to stop by Woody's. I love their fried clams, but not so much a fan of the fish n chips here. There wasn't anything wrong with the fish, I'm probably just spoiled from the regular spot I eat fish at. I always sit out on the patio area on the seawall and watch the boats go by, it's very relaxing. There's always people coming and going, but have only been once where it was almost uncomfortably crowded. Service has always been great, the drinks are good and affordable considering it's beach-side and touristy. Each time I've visited, there's been a DJ who is pretty entertaining to say the least :-) as well as a dance floor for you types who want to get up and boogie. I would recommend Woody's to anyone visiting in the area, but could see it becoming rather expensive if visited frequently. Park in the sandlot next to the restaurant. The biggest thing to remember here is that they only accept cash. There's an ATM inside the bar area.

Here's another place where I liked taking out of town guests when I lived in the area. It's just a beach bar, nothing special, but that's the point. Really laid back (you'd be over dressed in anything more than flip flops), pretty average bar food and beer, and the parking lot is nothing more than sand. If I still lived in the area, I probably wouldn't go very often, but if I ever return, I may pop in for a few.

Fun place to eat outside. We had our second visit in July, and they've refinished all the tables and seating, and were redoing the kitchen too, so it's even nicer now. The food and service are consistent. I had the fried haddock, which was cooked perfectly and the crust was the perfect consistency. The fries were great and had just the right crunch. It's nice to eat outside and enjoy the waterfront view with some good food.

The worst experience ever; food, service, staff attitude all sucked. Halfway decent view, but that's about it. Many better places nearby with much better views, food and staff that cares. I am not from the area, but polling some of the locals on recent trip they concurred. Stay away.

Great fresh seafood and awesome scenery you will love the crab go in early summer to avoid the random rain. The only gripe is that it's far from anything espicially if you are staying in the area for biz.

I went to Woody's once when I was here for vacation and when I moved here I could not seem to find the place! Finally a friend told me so I went back.... and was less than excited. The location is beautiful- right on the water and definitely very chill. I think it would be good for a mid-day break from the beach to get a few drinks but we went for dinner and the food was nothing exciting- not bad, there just wasn't anything on the menu that wow'd me.

Three stars for food, which was fresh but not fine dining. Still really enjoyed it. My husband had te fried haddock and it was the best. The slaw is really good and the coconut shrimp was too sweet. They serve your food on plastic plates and with plastic utensils but you don't really care because the view and vibe is so great. We're in our 30's and were definitely outnumbered by people who are already enjoying retirement which was fun to see. It's cash only but they have an ATM. Live music on Sunday.

We found out this place was where the locals go. So we opt out of the chaos of Gulf Blvd and ate here. There was live music as we walked in. We asked about seating and they said, "grab a picnic table". We ordered from the sticky menus and the food came to our table quickly.

Place looked like a unique dive bar for locals. We wanted seafood so we walked over to this place. No one greeted us and the entrance looked like a back door. We sat on the patio and had a beautiful sunset view. We waited ten minutes to be acknowledged by a waiter and after looking at the menu we noticed it was cash only- what?! We had seen some food selections we wanted- looked decent but had to leave because we didn't have our debit cards to even get money out of the ATM. Pretty dissapointed.

Plenty of sunshiney, outdoor seating, direct views of the water and if you're lucky, the glimpse of someone reeling in a nice catch! Seafood is the focus here, so try not to stray too far from that menu. The golden margarita is surprisingly great and the service comes from a sassy sally who'll charm you with her friendly banter. A great local's watering hole that makes you feel like you've hit the islands. Cash only.

Woody's is a must visit Beach Bar on the north end of St. Pete Beach! CASH ONLY. Plenty of Music, Pitchers of beer and lots of Happy Hour Partying 2-6 ! This is a casual open Beach Bar. Nothing Fancy. Best Sunsets in the area! Use Bathrooms only if necessary. Free WiFi ask for code.Watch the drinking, also a favorite area for Police Patrols , 4 more bars in the immediate area. Eat, Drink and be Merry for tomorrow may never come!

Only restaurant I have ever come across that asks patrons to turn other restaurants or bar shirts inside out or they just ask you to leave. Food sucks just as much as the brod who owns this place. Locals stay away so should you

I don't know why this place would get close to a bar review, right on the water, great music (slightly stoopid, sublime), great live music. Best of all fresh food! At a decent price and with your meal you get two sides which I actually was surprised cause I hadn't seen it yet on my Florida dining out. A bit older crowd but definitely a great atmosphere for anyone. If I were to own a business I'd own this one.

The view is about the only good thing about this place. I have been coming to Woody's for years, but it's unfortunate what has happened to management. The place will not survive if the owner is disrespectful, degrading, and just plain rude to their customers! Marlene (the owner) needs to learn some people skills if she wants customers to keep coming back, but she doesn't really care if you do. Don't go if you're looking for a great experience with great staff. Woody's has lost our weekly business.

(5)Jenifer D.
(4)Jimmy F.
This place has some great food had super-reasonable prices. Kind of a dive but they make up for it with great food and also a nice view of the gulf. Their fish & chips are amazing but I get them with garlic fries. They are to die for. I just love this little place.
(4)Susan H.

(5)Michael J.
This is our second visit in three days and well worth it! The shrimp is as perfect as it can be.
(5)Jim R.
(4)Jacob K.
(4)Drew B.
Shrimp was flied. Flied seafood is when you serve food that was fried after being battered, kitchen flies and all.
(1)Bridget C.
(5)Suzanne B.
(4)Carol A.
Ho hum. Good location, but not what I had hoped for. Pros: location is on the bay and there is ample outdoor seating. Con: happy hour prices do not apply to outdoor seating.
(2)B K.
(4)Jason F.
(5)Aaron G.

(4)Stephanie S.
Please visit this place if you are near St.Pete beach. It's a great low key, laid back beach grill. The fish was the best I've had and seasoned perfectly. Nice view of the sunset and a few dolphins.
(5)Jeanette C.
Great food. Good atmosphere. Burgers and Onion Rings are awesome. Cash Only.
(5)Hannah C.
Woody's is everything you'd expect from a beach bar! Good food, good Happy Hour, and a beautiful view. It's not gourmet, but it's a great place to relax, have a drink, and enjoy a basket of seafood.
(4)Shabba R.

Grade A Now that the hell fire crawfish dip is back on the menu along with great happy hour price, super friendly staff, and water view. The place to be for happy hour.

(5)Cathy W.

(3)Janet P.
Have to say we stopped in for a quick lunch. I ordered the crab cake , it was so good. Could be the best crab cake I have ever had. Hubs had a burger that was fantastic . Great view , great service, great value. Highly recommend .
(5)Steve M.
As a long time St Pete Beach resident, avoid at all costs. The owner is a TERRIBLE person, to customers and worse to staff. Food is marginal at best. Has potential, but dragged down. Ask a local for a recommendation, and they will NOT tell you Woodys.
(1)Emily S.
(3)Anne S.
The service was not that great this time. You would think with 12 of us there they would be very accommodating. Also our meal was dropped, had to wait, and never offered a reduction in our bill. We wouldn't have taken the reduction as it was and accident, but would have been nice to have had the offer.
(3)Cindy S.
(3)Tanna B.
(3)Jenn W.
We go to woody's every summer when we're in St. Pete. We enjoy the staff and the food is good. There are always local people at the bar and they are always friendly. It's a nice place to get some food and enjoy the water without the beach crowd. Try the fish spread it's fresh and really good.
(4)Tyler C.
Great place to relax after a long day at the beach. Usually very busy so be prepared to wait for a seat, and the service, although excellent, is a little slow. Food is exceptional!
(3)Kayonne R.
(1)Doug H.
Located off the beaten path, and right on the water. Happy hour at the bar is from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM which includes drinks and a limited food menu. We had the chicken wings, fried gulf shrimp and seasoned fries. The food was excellent and I highly recommend this place.
(4)Cynthia F.
(3)Norbert W.
t's just great to sit here on the patio and enjoy his dinner. Great fish and meat dishes do not make the right choice of course easier.and the original Woody Burger not to forget! You may be sitting very relaxed and can be of the friendly service just enjoy. You have to experience it, you will not forget it!!
(4)Sherri T.
Great location on the water. Our bill was around $90 we had lots of appetizers and quite a few drinks. The crab and grit cakes were great as was the wings, clams and onion rings. The oysters were a little fishy. But overall a great casual place to hang out with friends, have some drinks while taking in the great view
(4)Liz M.
(3)Liz A.
(5)Brittany R.
Booooo!!
(2)Jeff M.
(3)michael s.

(3)Catie M.
other than the location woodys has absolutely nothing going for it the "fresh" fish is panga which is a vietnamese cat fish the cooks don't wear gloves nor do the food prepares and hand washing is seldom.
(1)Donn M.
Food was good, bartender/server was great, but after having paid for a meal for three persons .. when leaving we were told in very rude terms to leave the parking lot. I can only assume that the woman who owns the place did not take the trouble to note that I was a customer and thought we were just parking in her lot.. After the way she spoke, I would have to say the first three letters of "assume" apply to her
(2)John G.
I can always watch what's going on at this place from where we stay. Hitting their specials in the afternoon is great, especially half price clam strips. A lot of folks really love their wings, I think their seafood is much better. Great place to watch the sunset but please bring CASH.
(4)Katie D.

(5)The x.
(4)Ryan S.
Just good food right on the water. Try some delicious seafood!
(4)Laurie H.
(4)miss m.
Woop!
(4)Michelle L.
(4)M J.
Great Music, Great Food, Great View
(5)Paul M.
(5)Devil M.
(3)Jami G.
my parents have been coming here since the 70's so i've been coming here for 30 years (albeit many as a child!).. the atmosphere is very laid back, the food is good for a beach bar and live bands on the weekends are always fun. if you are a fish fan, make sure to get the fish spread, it's the best! also love the clam strips and spicy wings. make note this is a cash only place, so be prepared to pay with cash or you will need to get money from the high service fee atm in the bar.
(4)Fred D.
Several visits to this run down beach bar were enough. Greasy fish is the house specialty. One time I sat at the bar and made the mistake of looking into the kitchen--it was fly central. A place to have a beer at sunset maybe.
(2)Colleen S.
(1)Dale M.
(2)Lindsay H.
(3)Betsy P.
(5)Manda B.
(3)Stephanie M.
(3)Jeff G.
(4)Jimmy G.
The worst experience ever; food, service, staff attitude all sucked. Halfway decent view, but that's about it. Many better places nearby with much better views, food and staff that cares. I am not from the area, but polling some of the locals on recent trip they concurred. Stay away.
(1)Chili L.
Great fresh seafood and awesome scenery you will love the crab go in early summer to avoid the random rain. The only gripe is that it's far from anything espicially if you are staying in the area for biz.
(4)Adrienne V.
(2)Allison P.
(4)Kevin B.
We found out this place was where the locals go. So we opt out of the chaos of Gulf Blvd and ate here. There was live music as we walked in. We asked about seating and they said, "grab a picnic table". We ordered from the sticky menus and the food came to our table quickly.
(3)Katelyn B.
(4)Monica S.
Cash only.
(4)Chris W.
(4)Kyle T.
Only restaurant I have ever come across that asks patrons to turn other restaurants or bar shirts inside out or they just ask you to leave. Food sucks just as much as the brod who owns this place. Locals stay away so should you
(1)CJ L.
Great fish sandwiches. The service is excellent. My drink was always cold and full even on a busy night. Great bar food.
(4)Sean T.
(5)Monica W.
