I love sunset tavern! What a great neighborhood bar. They have great specials and the food is good (this spot shares a kitchen with Deli Lane i.e. good!) Love to watch heat games here 2$ dollar yuengling specials are where it's at. My favorite part is that it's not your typical Miami scene (thank god) good place to go relax shoot some pool, eat and watch sports. Five stars!

Came here a lot in college, and while it is not the nicest place, I always remember being really happy with the food. The pressed duck sandwich with brie and apricot sauce was excellent, and the fries were really good. Def come here for the food.

Awesome Happy Hour, many cheap And tasty draft beers to choose from. Also have all liquor on deck. One of the top Happy Hours in south Miami. A good must stop on any random weekday.

I have been coming here since I moved to Miami years ago and still love this place. I love when my favorite bartender Heather, the pretty redhead, is there because she has always been so sweet, knows exactly what you want, and gives you new ideas for different drinks. Not your typical bartender who takes forever to get you a drink and serves attitude along with it! My coworkers and I go on Saturday nights after work pretty much cause she's there.

Ducked in with my sis and Crew to hear the band "Fire Brigade" and enjoy a cold pop. It was nice, because: * Fire Brigade ROCKS! And they are actually Fire Fighters * Good crowd, nice energy inside * My sis was in town and that always makes things fun * My martini was good, and well made, but served in inferior glassware, the extra was carried over in a rocks glass. This cheapens the experience and makes you less likely to get premium pricing. Our server didn't bother to clear anything off of our high-top so that sucked. I did not eat, but the sis did. The food looked like bar food. Nachos, fried crap, and such. It was too f'in hot inside, but all the windows and doors were open and the place has a huge patio facing East. It could be so much better.

I'm from LOS ANGELES and so far this place is THE BEST!!! Best Music, Great Service and Christine is awesome:)

There is really nothing memorable about this place. I come here regularly and I never leave completely satisfied, maybe its better with a group of people. The ambiance is really chill and laid back. Its where you go after a long day of work or being out and you need to rest. The service is okay and the pricing for the food is okay. The only good thing I can say about this place is that it is open late at night.

I always enjoy coming here for the happy hour specials and the love music. You can't beat the $1 appetizer specials on the weekdays.

Lemon drops kettle one- $10 and they have absolutely no alcohol in them. Even after we got 6 of them. Food is great, service wasn't the girl look like a disaster. I work in the bar industry and again the biggest disappointment was the lack of Alcohol they put in every one of my drinks. Considering my bill between my friend and I was $180. Won't return here again.

Great place, great food, great drinks.. And to top it off bobby is one of the best bartenders I've ever had, great service!! If you go I recommend asking for him!

I definitely enjoyed the atmosphere, service and live band. Even though I'm already a one man band, it's always nice to have live music. The drinks are moderately priced and the servers are very attentive. I didn't go on happy hour, but assume I'd love it even more. Can't wait for my next trip here.

Only been here once before and sat outside for a quick bite. The other evening we met up with some awesome friends. We all went inside and grabbed a few tables. Our waitress was great, she took our drink and food order's quickly and checked on us often. The inside reminds me of a typical dive bar, old, large bar area, not so pretty restrooms, it even smells like a bar. No matter they have a fantastic happy hour with $1 food items, one per drink. We ordered chicken quesadilla's, truffle fries, sliders, and a few other items. I was drinking margarita's, as it is my cocktail of choice usually if not drinking wine. They were not mixed properly so when I got around half way it was all tequila......oh now that was potent stuff. Next one I made sure to stir good. We had some lemon drop shot's with a sugar rim, they were fantastic! The food and drinks were all very good. Great place to meet up with friends, no frills just a good time in a comfy bar. Four star's for such great service, good food, decent cocktails and a great happy hour menu. It was FUN!

By far the worst customer service experience i've had in a long time. Our server was frank. We barely saw him and after an hour of waiting for our food we just asked for the bill. Even that took too long so we left $8 cash for the 3 cokes we had. At no point in the hour we spent there did Frank tell us there was a delay or did he even try to make our experience there. Just for clarification in case he had a different name tag on he has glasses and a pony tail. I've been coming to tavern/deli lane for 10 years now at this point Leslie is the only competent server they have on their staff. Will not be returning here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Very disappointed.

This place had me at outside seating and pressed duck sandwich. I'm also a fan of any place that serves breakfast options all day because that's how I roll. The drinks are always priced well but happy hour is a huge plus. The menu has your basic bar food and then some ( pressed duck sandwich people! ) and they also recently added a "fit lite" menu for the calorie conscious. I've been here a bunch of times and always gotten great service too. This is one of my go to spots for impromptu, relaxed group outings.

O Tavern, you used to be a staple. Before I moved away, Sunset Tavern/Deli Lane was my automatic neighborhood bar. Centrally located, seating for large groups, quality food and alcohol, all cheaper than spots nearby. Every time I visit family in Miami I try to stop by. And boy has the quality dropped off precipitously. Prices have steadily gone up for the same food, drink specials aren't special anymore, and the staff (at least the night crew) acts like they're doing you a big favor by letting you pay them money for service. The other night I waved to someone who seemed marginally in charge so I could finally get a server; and he just waved back! I had to yell for service and when the waitress came around (who had walked by us twice already) she had to go back inside just to see what was on tap. And disappeared. After a couple minutes we just got up and left. I've had so many birthdays here, it's sad to see the place turn into this.

WGood food, good band.. Great little chill spote came to Sunset Tavern after having spent the entire day at the Miami International Boat Show. We arrived around 7:30 or so and asked for a table for 8 - the waitress told us we could seat ourselves and so we did - luckily, there was a huge table avialable right in the front and next to the stage. We ordered a few round of drink and some appetizers to pick at. Three was a group of patrons there that werent your typical Miami crowd - my guesses were either UM students or a group from out of town on vacay - but watching them dance to the coutry music they kept selecting on the jukebox was priceless and endlessly enteretaining.. lol Around 10pm - the jukebox turned off and a lcoal singer - Robert Elias(i believe was his name) and his band took the small stage. He did an acoustic set which was very good and later on did another two sets with the instruments plugged in - we really enjoyed his performances. Slowly, other friends began to join us and the drinks and food kept coming.. We watched the three point and slam dunk comeption on the TV as well as some UFC and Gridiron Gang - you know the one , the Rock teaches convicts to bond on the football field movie.. Anyways, there were some minor complaints - first of all, our waitress Kindall was devoid of any personality - even when we tried to engage gher - she was disconnenected and uninterested. The first round of drinks came out very lack - but after voicing a minor complaint, they came out stronger. The food overall was decent for what we ordered - mostly appetizers - although one of my friends ordered the chicken tortellini and he was happy with it. I remember this place when it was mostly booths - so to see that they booths had been removed and replaced with tables and chairs - was a mild surprise - but i liked the change - gave it a more open feel. we really fdid have a good time though here and will likely return - minor complaints aside.

Sunset Tavern is the bar that adjoins Deli Lane down in South Miami. You can get their whole menu in the bar though, in case you don't want to sit out on the patio in the sweltering summer heat. The Tav (as my friends and I affectionately called it) used to have Ladies' Night on Thursdays, but I'm not sure if they still do. My old roommate used to frequent it 'cause she could stumble back to our apt without worrying about drunk driving or cab money. Unfortunately, I used to have class way too early on Fri mornings, so I didn't get to go as often as I'd like. Though, on any night, the Tav is great for good, cheap beer, and delicious food.

Came here late night because I called and was informed that both the bar and kitchen will be open till 3am. Wasn't even 2am and I had a craving for something to eat. I sat outside for about 4minutes before I decided to go inside and let whoever working know I was hungry and wanted some service! The bartender informed me that the kitchen was closed. I asked to speak with a manager because I literally called 8min before and was assured the kitchen was open. The manager came over, didn't introduce herself and asked what MY problem was. "Well I just drove here because a gentleman answered the phone and told me you were serving food." Manager: "Impossible" Me: "this is your number, right?" (Showing her the number I called). The Manager replies that she doesn't know the number to the bar but she knows the one for corporate!! What manager doesn't know the phone number to an establishment that she manages!? She then proceeded to rudely tell me that Matt, the guy sweeping the floor is the only guy working tonight and "HE WOULD NEVER TELL ME THAT BECAUSE HE OPENS AND CLOSES THE KITCHEN"!! I was taken aback immediately! Does she think I would get out of bed at 1:45am and drive there hoping they served food!? Def NOT! I then asked why she was being so aggressive towards me as I'm simply explaining to her the situation and I don't think as a patron I should be spoken to in that matter! Without apologizing she points her finger out the door and says "Irish Times is selling food till 5am, its down the street!!" I'd like to say, as upset as I was, I went to Irish Times and I'd like to thank that bitch of a manager because I had a great meal, full menu, and awesome drinks served to me in a timely manner by friendly staff! Hands down I will never go back to Sunset Tavern any time of the day or night and will now walk down the street elsewhere!

Before and after the remodel, the tavern it's one of a kind, should you choose to sit inside or out the atmosphere is just wonderful, service = courtious, fast and just over all fantastic. What a fabulous place to share with friends, and love ones . YOU have to love it - try it ......!

Best place for Happy Hour in South Miami. All drink are 50% off and appetizers are $1-$2 with every drink purchase. Huge beer selection and full bar. Sunset tavern: A South Miami staple.

Met some old friends while visiting my old hometown. Very impressed with wait staff, (thanks Susan). Food was ordered and out pretty fast considering the place was packed on St.Paddy's Day. They had a great band. Drink specials were fair priced. They brought out shots/drinks for our group several times and they were always perfect. Really liked the atmosphere, bistro style, and inside the bar looked kinda "dive-ish" but clean. Mens room is typical, needs some renovation. Very friendly patrons and staff. Wish I had a place like this near my home now. I highly recommend.

Came here for their first ever Beer Tasting Event last Thursday. The event, overall, I enjoyed. They explained all the beers and where they were from and the history of the breweries. They had giveaways and trivia questions. Very fun. The food: not so great. We (the bf and I) ordered the potato skins. OMG! The worst potato skins ever! We also sampled their buffalo wings and barbecue wings. Buffalo wings were TOO salty and not good at all. The barbecue wings were better but not great. The chicken panini and fries were good. Ok. The chicken panini was VERY good and the fries were ok. Made me wish we had gone to The Irish Times for food. The service: good. I mean they were VERY attentive. However, I asked for a beer, Brooklyn Lager, which I mistook for another beer I liked in the tasting. So, I asked our waitress if she could please exchange it (partnered with a million apologies. I never want to piss off a waiter/tress). She then proceeded to give me major attitude for the remainder of our stay. The other two waiters we had, which had to fetch her plenty of times, were MUCH better. So, good for drinks. Especially for their tasting events. Not good for food. And ok service. I would recommend their tastings. Pretty cool.

Deli Lane, you've got some history in Miami. I always like to come here for brunch once in a while. The last time I was here was a couple of years ago before I moved, so it was nice to have the chance to stop by again while visiting Miami this spring. We came on Easter Sunday and surprisingly were seated without too long of a wait. My friend and I shared a couple of items, which they very thoughtfully split on different plates for us. I've never been disappointed with the food here and it's great that they have live music. Our server was good, attentive. My only qualm was we wanted to have the Sunday Bloody Mary special. The server upselled us on the Peppar instead of regular Absolute, which would have been considerate of him to also mention the up charge! I felt that was a little deceptive on his part, especially since it was a significant difference. Boo on you for that.

Went today during Happy Hour and took advantage of the half price drinks. Additionally, took advantage of their $1 menu which they have during happy hour. If you order alcohol then you can choose 5-6 different items for only $1. Got the truffle fries and the buffalo fingers. Both were good, but as expected, nothing too crazy. For dinner I ordered the same thing I always do - the Pressed Duck sandwich. I absolutely love this sandwich and it is the only thing I ever order when I go there. I highly recommend!

I stopped over here for the first time last week. Now that I go to UM, I am off the beach grid far more frequently! They have a great daily happy hour 5-7 with half off drinks. A decent beer selection. The only server in the place was running his skinny butt off & was very pleasant. I just thought the food was OK. I got the caprese sandwich and they burned my bread a little. My mom got the apple bacon Swiss sandwich, they also burned her bread. The menu is pretty extensive for a dive bar & I am going to try some other food from here. If they don't burn my food next time I will upgrade them to 4 stars. The seasoned fries rocked by the way.

Ah Sunset Tavern, you bring me great joy in ways I never thought possible. First, it was the mongolians - as lethal as a four loko, w/o the crash as you're winding off - then your amazing happy hours where everything is half off plus you feed my face when my stomach starts to growl. Lastly, the tater tots, these tiny bundles of potato bring me back to days when heading to the cafeteria was the highlight of the day. Tater tots? What are you, a child? Yes, a man-child who loves perfectly fried tater tots, ketchup, and Chimays to the face. Bartenders are never stingy with the a-a-a-a-a-alcohol and I find myself cringing at the first few sips. Their beer selection is good, not great and if you buy their $10 mug, every draft is 3 bux on Tuesdays - all day. Also, $1 PBRs (only the finest) on Wednesday nights. Recently, I ordered the pressed duck w/ brie, onions, and apricot sauce on the side - I'm about to eat this keyboard. Breakfast/brunch is the best in the area, the challah :{ egg melt makes me want to marry a beautiful Jewish lady and have tons of little matzah balls. Maybe I'm being a bit bias, but this place has always treated me right and I've never had a complaint. If you decide to street park, be cognizant of the time; SoMi parking authority is no joke. Note - Bring your lady Thursday nights (dollar dranks from 10pm to 1am), but beware, she will get mauled by the tortilleras in the restroom.

This is a fun little place to hang on a weekend night. It is not a hopping joint, more of a place for some down-time with good friends. If you are hungry, I must insist you try the pressed duck sandwich. It is one of the most delicious things I have ever tasted. They have some decent beer special. They also make a killer bloody mary. Enjoy!

This South Miami staple stays open til 3am and in addition to beers and cocktails it also serves up a conversation conducive environment. Yes, it is often overrun by frat boys and the girls who love them but if you can ignore that then you're in the clear. The plastic chairs and patio tables always seem somewhat comforting. It's South Miami's version of a modern dive bar. Note: Past a certain time you will be carded even if you aren't drinking.

Came here for breakfast on a saturday after debating whether I wanted sweet or salty. I was set of french toast. But as soon as I saw the menu, I couldn't help but see all of their other breakfast staples. I also saw that during the week, they have a sweet deal of pancakes, eggs, toast, ham or bacon, etc... all for around 5 bucks. Damn, missed it by a day. So instead I order my french toast and one extra poached egg with a side of hollandaise sauce. It wasn't bad but, I could tell I had just made up something ridiculous from the menu, and the cooks made it haphazardly. Oh, well. I'll be back for that epic breakfast deal!

This is my favorite bar in South Miami and I love how relaxed this place is. You can either sit inside, outside, or at the bar and the staff is usually pretty friendly. The food is suprisingly delicious since it is brought straight over from Deli Lane next door. My favorite is to try the Drink of the Day since it's usually some sort of fruity concoction and at a cheaper price that usual cocktails. Last time I also noticed that they have free food buffet's sometimes during happy hour - that's definitely something to check out! I really don't know what more you could ask for at your local Tavern.

Can't believe I hadn't reviewed it yet! I'm a fan of the Tavern. Alongside Bougies and Fox's, Tavern completes the trifecta of my South Miami usual spots. And that's pretty much what went down last night when a couple of buddies and I decided to go catch the UM game. This place is great, their beer selection is pretty stellar for a dive bar, with more than 8 options on tab. The food is just awesome, I had the Portabello Club because I hadn't eaten dinner and I was starving, and with their crispy french fries, it was just the perfect bite to grab with a pitcher. Like mentioned before, the fact that this is linked to the Deli Lane makes it a lethal combo. Good food, good beer, good music, good ambiance, decent people = Old school South Miami Gem. The inside is "cozy", I really enjoy their jukebox which plays anything from heavy metal to the spice girls (that made a really interesting combination one night a long time ago when my friends and I went for one of their Bucket special nights). The service is a toss up. Supported evidence has shown in the past that all female bartenders suffer from an incurable and continuous case of PMS, the waiters are cool for the most part, but kinda forgetful, so you gotta be very patient. All and all a great joint, never a bad night here.

A little skeptical at first but we really needed to catch the heat game on time so we decided to give it a try. Thanks to the earlier yelpers, the slow service didnt come as a surprise...its ok though, I had patience because even though they were a little slow, they were very accommodating. The place is split in two and since the main area was packed, we ate at the sports bar side. I had the grilled veggie wrap which was good but lacked a little bit of flavor....maybe some sauce. I had french fries as a side and was OVERWHELMED to see that they had malt vineger and good MV at that! They have a decent beer selection and a particular belgium wheat beer that I found to be light and comfortably spicy....very appropriate for the cooler weather.

My favorite kind of bar -- TV screens for watching sports, a pool table in the corner, wooden booths and tables and two different kinds of Chimay. A laminated calendar on the table reveals specials and events on almost every day of the week. On a Saturday afternoon, this place was empty. We were there for a beer and some grub. We purposely sidestepped enjoying the beautiful weather to sit outside at Deli Lane next door, only to realize that the two places are CONNECTED. We thought we'd get "bar food." That's ok, because Deli Lane has good food! Our server was phenomenal. Attentive at JUST the right times, we thought she was a mind reader. Too bad there are more servers like her throughout Dade County.

I've been here several times and its always been just alright until I went for happy hour on Friday. The drinks were half off ,their well vodka was Absolute which isn't so shabby. Happy hour also includes free food!! Oysters, shrimp, boneless wings, etc. They set it up buffet style. That was pretty awesome and not to mention it actually taste good. ( although my buzz might had a lot to do with the food tasting good) Overall, it was a great Friday afternoon!!!

I would almost venture to say that I prefer this place over its other dive bar neighbors... This place NEVER does me wrong! Buckets of beer? YES PLEASE! They have good drinks specials besides this, plus they serve yummy food, plus there are pool tables, plus a juke box, plus a really cute worker boy, plus awesome awesome staff who don't ever forget anything! (especially the nights I HAVE forgotten!!) There is hardly ever too much of a crowd inside which is nice b/c I rarely have to fight for a table. Everytime I've been, I'm pretty sure I've met a new person randomly and I like that friendly atmosphere. I've only ever been on Fridays so I don't know what the rest of the week offers but I'm gonna start skippin all the other places and start/end my nights here!

I used to love this place. I really did. But holy moly, has it gotten a little expensive??? And the food quality to me as not as good as before. I have enjoyed this place for its easy going atmosphere, cheap beer specials and yummy food. But last night made me look around and question my old devotion. Two of us ate and drink moderately/ lightly. Here is the break down, 3 small appetizers 3 Strongboughs 3 gin and tonics Our bill??? 78 bucks! without tip. Now. We have no problems with ever plopping down money for food and drinks. Its our piggy natures. But seriously??? The appetizers were sub par at best, G&T weak, and I can get a six pack of Strongbough for 8 bucks! Here they charged us 6.50 per. Definitely not worth the drive anymore or food. It just seemed like it was not worth the old devotion anymore at those prices and quality of food.

My least favorite bar in the Town of Pleasant living. There is nothing really wrong with it, I just do not feel comfortable here and it is way too smoky; even just passing through, I stink of cigarettes for the rest of the night... The few times I was not able to stay at an outside table, the pool table was always busy, a good number of, seemingly, regulars at the bar and rock music from the stereo. They also serve some free snack around happy hour time. I like the outdoor seating that is connected to Deli Lane next door, but prefer to just go there directly. If I have a say in the cheap drink locale for the night, I choose Fox's or Bougie's up or down the road...

Love this little dive bar. It's a staple for UM students and fans. Been coming here for years. Food is pretty good and the beer is always cold. Sitting outside also adds something nice for a sports bar. It's in a great location because its within walking distance to so many other bars, restaurants and shops.

Sunset Tavern, much like everything in life, should be taken in moderation. Damn near half the time I go here, I end up at BT's, whether I want to or not. The late night menu is getting a little weak, but it's still decent food for decent prices. The Tavern isn't short on redeeming qualities, though...they're open til 5, boast cheap drinks, beers on tap, they're close to my house and have copious amounts of covered outdoor seating. It's very much a late-night locals dive, as i can't throw a rock in there without hitting someone I know. IMPORTANT: Thursday nights are ladies night....but really...THURSDAY NIGHT IS LESBIAN NIGHT. Don't get your panties in a bunch when you show up looking to score and realize all the girls with shaved heads aren't into your chest hair. TIP: Ask about the nightly drink specials, they've always got 'em.

Drink specials... cool people and a laid back atmosphere... what more could any Miami local ask for in a bar... I often visit the Sunset Tavern during the week just to catch up with friends or if I'm taming a craving for one of their yummy quesadilla's (southwestern hold the sprouts is my fav)!! They've recently been trying to spruce the place up a bit, but they haven't taken away from its charm...

My 30-mile journey from North Miami-Dade to South Miami to attend a yelp beer tasting was met with utter disappointment when I arrived an hour and a half after the tasting started - sorry Maria! So, to salvage the lenthy, 45-minute trip, I hung out and had a few rounds at this cozy bar with plenty of beers on tap - and bottle - for the purest of beer lovers. As I arrived, I circled the area to find off-street parking, which was pretty tight. The place is nice and spacious - it was ladies night - so I had to wear a wristband. Don't know what that was about since, obviously, I'm not a lady. The service was pretty good despite the place being close to jam-packed. And the beer was cold and fresh. The men's bathroom was a bit dirty and messy, but since it was my first time there, maybe it was a one-time thing. There's also an outdoor seating area for those brave enough to down a cold one is suffocating humidity. The jukebox had plenty of good tunes and the vibe was pretty inviting. Not my favorite place but a reasonable watering hole to have a beer and some wings.

I have to keep changing reviews on this place because they change promotions. They no longer have the Monday Jazz bands, however they now host a WAKA team, which means no more $1 Yuengling drafts on Monday. They currently have the $1 Pabsts on Wednesdays which is AWESOME. And they just added a late night happy hour 1/2 priced drinks after midnight. Yessss! If they only let you smoke inside still I would of done 5 stars.

this is a great bar if you're in the mood to just sit and chill. the food is good but nothing to write home about, as one would come to expect from a bar. there is plenty of seating inside: booths both large and small, tables and a long bar with plenty of stools. there is also a pool table and jukebox. as far as noisy bars go, this place isn't too noisy but i personally prefer to sit outside whenever i do come here. i always see at least two people tending bar and if you can make yourself visible they're usually pretty attentive. there are a million tables outside. it's good for large groups and they never care when we mash a bunch of tables together to accommodate a very large group. the service both inside and outside is really good and i usually can avoid the hassle of going to the bar altogether. they have a happy hour and in the past i recall them having events where they had free food and live music. not sure if they still do though. what else can i say about this place? well it's certainly been here a long time so it has that old miami feel and look to it. it's not trying to be the new sexy south miami or "somi" that is being branded. it's also within walking distance of both fox's and bougainvillea's, two of my other favorite south miami hangouts. so for me, no visit to south miami is complete without at least giving sunset tavern a curious look as i pass by and make the rounds.

ive gotten tipsy at this place before ... hell, ive gotten trashed at this place before, true story. maybe twice or six times back in 2004 ... but last sunday was a different story, i came here for brunch and man .. what a lovely story, not that getting drunk at sunset tavern is not lovely .. im just saying... we got there like at 1pm and the place was packed! i forget the name of our waitress but she was so cute and helpful and she was so busy!.. i got an orange juice (fresh) and joan marie got a mimosa... i got a yummy sandwich with on french bread with eggs and bacon, came with fries ... joan got the eggs benedict and i was jealous because that was SO good!!! so because i was a little bit jealous, i ordered some buttermilk pancakes but i didnt wanna get a full order ... so our waitress suggested to get the kids portion and that was just fine. i needed some maple syrup to forget about how good those eggs were ...and joan got another mimosa... just because. grand total $30 before gratuity and again, our waitress was so nice. she even got us some quarters that we needed for the parking meter... ill be back for brunch for sure!

Based on my first-time experience with Sunset Tavern, I can say I'm a fan. I went for a close friends birthday party and the whole event was very successful. The waiters were friendly and attentive and didn't seem to be annoyed by the amount of people packed into the two booths we had. The bartenders were also quick with the drinks and more than happy to give out plenty of limes, straws, napkins and other drink necessaries. The music was great, albeit a bit loud for how small the place is. The outside seating looks perfect for those groups that aren't into the indoor ruckus. All in all, I think I'll be coming back soon to check out food offerings and weeknight specials. :D

The midnight menu is good for the price. The drinks are affordable and its a chill atmosphere. This bar its a must if your looking for a laid back night. The best DJ in Miami plays on saturday nights.

Sunset Tavern is your everyday bar with a pool table, big booths and a pretty big outdoor seating area. The bartenders are quick and make good CHEAP drinks. Thursday night is ladies night (2 hours of free well drinks and beer for the girls) -- you'll find your local miami lesbian drama there in large doses. if you're homophobic stay away. if you're one of the few miami lesbos with class, you'll learn to stay away as well (present company included ;) If you can't tell who are the lesbians, they'll be the ones drinking bud light. Anyway--- my favorite time to go to sunset tavern is on sunday mornings for the eggs benedict.... Sunset Tavern is attached to the restaurant portion called Deli Lane. You'll see people waiting forever on saturdays and sundays to get a table, but you can actually just go in and grab a booth inside Sunset Tavern and get served the same food. The downside-- the service sucks and is super slow and if you sit inside, there may be smoking.

My experience with the Sunset Tavern was a pretty run of the mill one. Ambiance was pretty good, no rowdy drunks. Place seem pretty clean and well kept. Service was good with good staff. I think the biggest problem I came across was their price for a pitcher was a little bit higher than most other places I frequent.

Today I had some extra time on my meter, and the day was beautiful, so I decided to sit at the outside tables and grab a beer. Nice place to spend a chill afternoon. I've been here and at Deli Lane (same menu/kitchen) for lunch quite a few times and they've all been good. If you're a sucker for the avocado/pesto/mozzarella combination like I am, I recommend the California Dreamin' Quesadilla. Also, they have Brooklyn Lager on tap. Yum.

When I visit Miami this always become a fallback bar for my friends. They have great prices, a clean bar, and carry a few bottled ciders for my sweet tooth. Also, unlike nearby Fox's you can usually carry-on a conversation.

Thank the lord for dive bars. I really like coming here more during the winter. Its a little stuffy inside with all the smoking. Other than that I dont know what it is but I love the Guiness from here. It is nice and cold, just write. There have been a few times where I go get brunch next door and end up here that usual ends up in a loooooong day. I wish they would resurface their pool tables.

Nice place in South Miami to have a low key drink with friends, they have outdoor and indoor seating, I and most people choose to sit outside. It's a little expensive for drinks but they always have featured drinks which they mix up perfectly. This place a great beer selection and if you go before 11 they are connected to Deli Lane so you can order from their food menu which I love. If you go on Sunday mornings you can have brunch of Deli Lane and have drinks at the Tavern if you like bloody mary's order with Absolut peppar for extra kick, they are savory and awesome, if bloody's aren't your thing go for the mimosas or bellinis its a full bar so get what you like!

So after shutting down another "high end" bar for my birthday we decided to head over to Sunset tavern since my friend was begging us to come and join up with him. It being a Saturday night and being in the mood to drink it up we decided to head over there. The place is a little run down, very "average" maybe "below average" looking. It has furniture that is falling apart. My friends wooden chair actually kept coming apart at the seat part lol! But wait! Don't just write the place off right away! The bartender (a lady) makes you feel like she knows you since forever and wants you to enjoy your drink. I asked her to fix me something fruity and not too strong since I was driving and she made up some kind of crazy pinkish looking thing that was the most amazing thing I've tasted in a long time. Not to mention I was surprised since the place totally doesn't give you a good first impression. She then made my other girlfriends hurricanes which I was extremely pleased with since I've only had one person my whole life know how to make a good hurricane! Well I've finally found another! This place makes you feel like "everyone knows your name" lol! The DJ was AWESOME! He was playing everything from Big to the Fugees to MJ etc. The place was a little smokey but again it's a TAVERN! I'm definitely going back but this time i'm opting out of being the DD and having my friend take that one so I can enjoy my drinks. The crowd was nothing terrible at all. Just people hanging out minding their own business enjoying last call kinda drinks. Love it Love it Love it! You should come out and try it, have a chill night with very affordable yummy drinks! Oh yeah and they have a billiard table, now all we need is a beer pong table :oP

Have been here a couple of times. It is an alright bar. Nothing spectacular. Cheap drinks on Heat games make it worth going to. The food quality is what you would expect for a bar. Make sure to sit in the back of the bar when watching sporting events. My friend and I noticed that the feeds on the tv up front has a 3-second delay. Every time the Heat scored, the crowd in the back would cheer and then 3-seconds later the crowd in the front will cheer. I found it amusing. The location is decent. It is right next to BT's Gentlemen's Club and it is behind what I consider downtown South Miami. My friend claims to have seen a topless woman dress in a car when we were walking by the parking lot of the bar. This is not surprising given that the bar essentially shares its parking lot with BT's. I have never been at the bar when it has reached its capacity but it is quite small. Given the selection of bars around the area, it is definitely not the best.

The people at Sunset Tavern are very friendly. It was a very chill and relaxed atmosphere to cap the night after being in the crowded Grove all night.

as far as a college bar goes this is it. as for as a bar that has cheap drinks (well as far as miami goes) this is it. wide selection (sapporo beer! sweet!), a staff that knows what they are doing, and a good atmosphere make this place just feel right. now that the vanilla stuff is done here's the nitty gritty, thurs is Lez night, and whatever it's not like its exclusive. and sunday nights here are awesome (i have no idea where they found the dj but she plays old! school house; how cool is that? way cool) and happy hour is midnight till around 2am. dig it.

Haven't been to this place in a while until last night. A few of us Yelpers headed here after the Yelp Event at Irish Times and enjoyed some good food (I ordered the Veggie Quesadilla) and drinks. Service can be a bit of a wait, but it's nothing to really get too peeved about. They also had a live performer inside singing 90's classics. Overall I've always enjoyed this place. Just a place to sit back and relax with great food, drinks, and company. Plus, there's one thing I think will never get old while sitting outside this place - seeing all the horribly executed parallel parking attempts

This place never disappoints! If it's not happy hour they still have a selection of drink specials. And if you are going for the food your best bet is breakfast, lunch, dinner, apps, brunch... well any meal! This is the most consistent restaurant (Deli Lane) / bar (Sunset Tavern) I have ever been to. The food, ambiance, service and entertainment is always good. If you haven't been here yet you probably haven't been in Miami long.

Only been here on Thursday's, alt lifestyle night for girls. I frequent this place on a work capacity but they have great prices and great service. I have yet to try the food.

Great breakfast and lunch. This place gets pretty full during the weekends for breakfast, it has a great menu and i suggest their omelettes and eggs benedict. Come here with enough time to wait for a table and also wait on staff that is helping many tables at the same time. I've also come here during lunch and they have a great sandwich selection. Great location in south miami.

Only been here a couple times but its always been a good one. Good mix of beers and all at good prices. The specials during games are especially nice. Never been there real late so I don't know what the 12 and after crew is like but early in the night everyone including the staff is very friendly and chill. Don't know if its only Saturday but till 8 p.m. the pool table is free which is a big plus for me.

Place is real mellow and chill. Has that college bar'ish feel. Every now and then they have promotions, you just have to be on top of them to know which are for which days. Waitresses are cute too ;) Will always come for a few beers and what not.

It's been a long time since we've found a great Happy Hour spot. This is it! My husband and I came hoping it would live up to the positive reviews and it far surpassed our expectations! Parking is easy and free (if you park in their lot and get your voucher validated). We came on a Friday and it wasn't super packed and the ladies working the bar were super pleasant! Half off drinks during Happy Hour (2-7 M-F) and great deals on snacks with purchase of drinks. All together we had three martinis, four beers, and three apps for $27. We were so pleased with the experience, we tipped $10 and still felt like we got a steal on our Friday evening out! We will definitely be back!

As everyone says the food is the best part about this place. I ordered the chicken wings the last ime I was there and they do not offer different heat levels and they sure were hot, which is the way I like them, but be careful if you do not like spicy foods. I say just go for a good meal and sit outside and enjoy the weather as I have never found the bartenders inside to be very friendly, but the inside is not too bad if you are going with someone you want to have a conversation with.

Not good. The service was slow, the food was tasteless. We ate some because we were hungry. The milkshake was ok

This place is great to just chill out with friends and have a couple drinks. They're moderately priced though I'd say pretty amazing considering the area they're in. I've been here a few times and my drinks are almost always amazing. Not to mention they don't skimp on the liquor. I have yet to try any of the actual food so I'll have to come back and edit this review one day.

This is another one of those bars that if it was anywhere else in the United States, it might not be that big a deal. But, like alot of "normal" places in Miami, it's a diamond in a rough simply because you can hear yourself speak and it's not over-run with meat-heads. In any case, Sunset Tavern has outside seating, which, in non-South Beach Miami, believe it or not, is rather rare. The jukebox is good, and the drinks are cheap(-ish). More importantly, both inside and outside the bar, you can actually hear yourself speak! What a concept! Plus, my friend Heather works there, and she is cuh-ute. But I don't know if she's single. There are other cute waitresses there too, though.

Sunset Tavern, you had me at Happy Hour. I love this place, even with out happy hour the drinks are well serviced and well priced. I've been here a bunch of times and each server I get, I've had awesome service. This is THE spot for me for a happy hour hang out, especially on Fridays when they have the $1 apps special. The atmosphere here is so chill. Every time I've gone there's always people, but its never been packed (I hate that) I've also been here during the day when its Deli Lane and had their breakfast and still got the same quality service.

Sunset Tavern is like Facebook incarnate. Every time I go, I run into a former, long lost, classmate who asks me to give them a quick rundown of the last 10 years of my life. They always finish with, "how are we NOT friends on Facebook?" Eesh. I love this bar. Despite the smokiness indoors, they have a pool table and Anchor Steam on draft. The outdoor seating is perfect for a powwow amongst friends. Last time I went was a Thursday which happened to coincide with "Ladies Night." After my friend unsuccessfully kicked game to some girl, I informed him they were all lesbians. Ladies Night is exclusively for the ladies, duh.

ahhh deli lane/sunset tavern... how many days i spent here during college. breakfast in the morning... drinner and drinks at night(especially if one of my guy friends dragged me to go watch some game)... but forget the food for a second... LADIES NIGHT ON THURDAYS. hey, you can't beat the penny drinks!!! though in the past few years, ladies night at deli lane/sunset tavern has become "the unofficial secret lesbian hangout" much to the confusion of a lot of my guy friends. maybe i shouldn't have shared the secret ;) so say 'hi' if you see me

love this bar. smoke friendly, nice and cute bartenders, lots of beers on draft and also many bottled beers you would only be able to find in a liquor store. great food (from deli lane) and good atmosphere. my favorite bar in south Miami.

The food exceeded my expectations! We were looking for a place to watch a broncos game and stumbled on this little gem. They had a good list of daft beers. The menu had a lot of typical bar food, but they also had some more interesting dishes. We got the focaccia chicken sandwich, which was good, and the lettuce wrap, which was insanely delicious! Also, the servers were very friendly and the service was fast. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone that is looking for more than your typical sports bar.
