This was my first foray into Thai food...and it was excellent! We went at 7pm on a night and had plenty of time to eat before they closed. The decor was nice, it was nicely lit...only thing I had to say is that the waiter was a little creepy, needs to talk a little more, seemed like he was really shy or something. We started off with some vegetable tempura, basically just some fried mushrooms, carrots, zucchini, and baby corn with a side of some clear, sweet dipping sauce. It was excellent!! Next came the main course. I got the Chilli (their spelling) Jam Chicken...it was chicken and vegetables in a spicy sauce over rice...I don't know what was in the sauce but it was great! Very peppery (in a good way) with a good bite to it. Girlfriend had Pad Thai noodles...some very fine noodles with chicken and some kind of sprout things on top, and it was really good too! I finished my meal and ended up stealing a good portion of her meal as well. Not the fanciest Asian restaurant you will eat in, not the dumpiest, but when we got the check we were very happy - $35, 20% tip included. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful place to eat. Everything is cooked to order so be prepared to wait but there service is great, always very friendly and the food tastes great. I always get the coconut soup, that stuff is so addicting.

For starters we chose Thom Yum Gung soup and spring rolls. A very popular item and served with their house plum sauce, Songkran's spring rolls were notably a cut above your average rolls so consider ordering several. Both the soup and the rolls were great. Our entrees for this visit were Pad See Ew, Red Curry with rice and Shrimp Pad Thai. All were very good. The service was good even though we arrived during the peak of the lunchtime crowd. They do offer lunch specials starting at $6.50 and they have a wide assortment of Thai entrees as well as the standard appetizers, soups, curries, etc. Beer and wine are also available. Songkran is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday and dinner service only on Sunday. They are closed on Monday. "Life's too short for bland food, bad wine, weak coffee or cheap whiskey. RS"

Best not to be in a rush when eating here; service is very relaxed and slow paced. Great place to go with a group or for a date. Owner is wonderful and the food is super!

Our family went to this Thai restaurant while visiting Daytona Beach for lunch a few days ago. We were very happy with the service and menu options. They do not have a kid's menu, but when requested, they did serve her a child's sweet and sour chicken. We eat at Thai restaurants as much as possible and this one was one of the best. Keep it up!

Haven't been here in quite some time, but I still remember that this place had some of the best Pad Thai I've ever had. Nothing short of excellent!

Vegan/Vegetarian Super Friendly!!! The chef and the waitress I had know all about Vegans and can hook you up to some of the best tastebud popping treat you've experienced since your mom introduced you to the Wacky Cake_ (but that's a totally different sad story) If you live in the Daytona area - you gotta try this one! I find Thai to be about the best on my taste buds and digestive system! Staff here is tops - willing to take the time and talk you thru the menu and help make sure you get exactly what you want. The food were served was the best of Thai Ive eaten -- and look at me - I eat alot!! Ive had Thai from Fl - Okla and places in between, even have it on my yearly trips to Korea - I love Thai cooking! But this restaurant in Daytona really deserves the 5 Stars -- and I deal with personal all the time and tell it like it is - Forget the Menu!--Tell the chef you are Vegetarian and bring out his best kept secret dish to WOW your tastebuds - you will be a Happy Camper!!!

I'm from South-east Asia, so I can vouch for Songkran's authenticity as far as Thai food goes. Most of the dishes have been tweaked to suit the Americans' tastebuds, so do let the Chef Owner know if you prefer otherwise. The following are dishes I had with a group of friends and I rate on a personal 5.0 scale. Pan-fried Thai Fish cakes - 3.75/5.0 (Off-menu item. Order 1 week ahead) Tom yum goong - 4.0/5.0 Spicy Beef - 3.5/5.0 Green Curry Chicken - 3.75/5.0 Kai Lan Kway Teow - 4.0/5.0 [this is the only kway teow (flat rice noodles) dish in the whole of Daytona Beach that I've tasted Wok Hei... Not that its exceptional.] They have been around for over 20 years and were recently featured in News Journal.

I wondered why Songkran described themselves as serving "unique" Thai food, but understood after seeing the menu. They offer a number of unique menu options that I have not seen at other Thai restaurants, or, you can order a standard like Pad Thai. Either way you will love the food! This has become one of my favorites in the Daytona area.

Strike 1.. not having thai ice tea because they ran out of cream, after they told me they had it. Strike 2.. vegetarian pad thai full of eggs. I had to pick around the eggs then finally gave up. I paid for my meal and left. The lady was very understanding and apologetic. This was the first time my husband and I have eaten there and we probably won't go back however, I don't think its a horrible restaurant. The service was ok and the atmosphere was ok.

LOVE This place, well worth the drive from NSB. Plum sauce all the way!

ATTENTION! VERY IMPORTANT HOT SAUCE UPDATE! Last time I was home visiting family I discovered that Sue is now selling jars of Chili Jam at the farmer's market in Ormond Beach (the one one Nova, next to the bridge, by the Casements).Song Kran is calling it Chili Jam, but it is definitely the amazing dark hot sauce. I think I was wrong about the black bean sauce base. My new theory is that the sweet, smoky flavor comes from slow roasting the chili peppers in oil. Or maybe, it comes from magic. The hot sauce has never, ever been like this at every other Thai place I've eaten at. I think it is a uniquely Song Kran thing. Daytona Beach is the only place you can get it. Probably you can buy jars of Chili Jam at the restaurant too. Go get lunch there and then bring home jars of magical hot sauce and put it on everything. Also, just so people know, if you make it clear upfront that you need something VEGAN vs. vegetarian, they'll totally accommodate you...
(5)Robyn B.
This was my favorite Thai restaurant! The sauces were perfect. The specials were different and interesting. Everything was perfect. All six in our party were very impressed. That almost never happens! We will be back.

So we were in Daytona Beach and wanted some Thai food. First time being at Songkran I thought I play it safe and order the pad thai and my wife ordered the Spicy noodle, and my friends ordered the Duck Curry and Tom yum soup. The soup came out luke warm, so wasn't very appetizing. We waited a long time then finally my wife's Spicy noodle came out, she said the noodles were hard and the beef tasted like liver.. My "safe" plate the pad thai tasted like bland spaghetti and believe me I'm not a picky eater. Actually, this is my first post because I want to let fellow yep users to know this place is the worst ever, as I value other user's reviews. Ok, so my wife finished her plate and I'm half way through my spaghetti pad thai and my friends meals aren't here yet. Overall, the worst Thai food place I've ever tasted, had to buy a milk shake at DQs across the street afterwards to wash that taste out. Milk shake was good... Hmm, skip the meal at Songkran and go straight to the dessert at DQs. :)

Great little place with great authentic food! I had the yellow chicken curry and it was very good!

This atmosphere and the food were quite good. We went on a Sunday night and sat next to the windows, which was a good choice. It seemed like the other seats were a little depressing but were still nice. The service was prompt and the food was good. We ordered the mussels with black bean sauce and it was fantastic. It was basically a dozen mussels with a spicy black bean sauce with a side of Jasmine rice for $12, very good, The Pad Thai was also good but I have had better. It seemed like the dish was just missing the pop of lemon or something. It was still good. Overall this place was nice and it is hard to complain about having a nice ethnic dinner for two for under $25 with a tip.
(4)Jamie T.
My boyfriend and I go here at least once a week. The food is always absolutely amazing. This is, by far, the best Thai food place in the area and nothing even comes close. The food is cooked to order and always comes out in a timely manner- my favorite menu items are the Pad Se Ew and the Wonton Soup :) The sweetest girls work here and Su is the BEST :) We recommend this restaurant to everyone we know!
(5)Brett F.
Nothing special, but the price was right. My experience was exactly what I would have expected for a $15 per person (drink and appetizer) Thai restaurant. Our server was very green but enthusiastic. She kept getting little things wrong, but was so nice it did not bother me. Only issue is that the menu is not very kid friendly. My 9 & 12 year old have eaten Thai but had to go with what they new from basic Chinese restaurants. No kids menu at all, but that is not a real issue for me.

Service was really slow. It took the waitress sometime to come get our order. Worst part is, it's not even a busy day! We ordered two entrees; prik kang and mussel curry. The food was alright, nothing spectacular. The rice that came with the two entrees was a portion for one, when it should've been a portion for two. When we ordered more rice, the waitress informed us they're out of rice and is now cooking some more. That explains the unreasonably small portion of rice. Unbelievable! Regretted my decision for our last meal in Daytona beach.

Some of the best Thai food be had in the States. This is real homemade food. This is like eating at grandma's kitchen - if the makings weren't available at the market, don't expect to get it served even if it's in the menu. Big portions, and prices are very reasonable.
(5)Todd L.
Yelp, how dare you forsake me?!?! Well this place was not knocking it out at lunch. I should've heeded my gut feeling about two cars in the parking lot at lunch time. But alas, not many options around that sounded better. For $6.95 you get a salad and your lunch entree. Let me start with the poor, sad, salad. It was three broken off pieces of iceberg lettuce, a few shaved carrots, an industrial unripe tomato wedge, and a light vinaigrette. WHY BOTHER?! The lunch entree ordered was the pad see-ew with tofu. Well, when it arrived, it appears that they may have been out of black bean paste and decided overcompensate with tons of oil and a ridiculous amount of salt (possibly MSG, but I'm not for sure). Overall, blah and blech. My quest for a pad see-ew that is even considered serviceable continues on the East Coast.

Ask for the Summer Rolls. They're not on the menu but they are great! Songkran is my favorite Thai restaurant in Florida, tasty, and very friendly, at a reasonable price. Panang curry is the best dish here.
(4)Christopher W.
Completely empty at 5:30 PM on a Wednesday, not a good sign. My mother, wife and myself were greeted the second we walked in and got to pick where we sat. The dining room was very dim and had easy listening music playing. There was lots of small lights hanging in random places through out the room. The menu is completely different than the pictures that are posted here. Tons more options. Mother ordered summer rolls for an appetizer for us all to share, then the pumpkin curry for her meal, my wife got the steamed vegetables and I ordered the vegetable curry with fried tofu. I ask to make it spiced as little as possible and our waitress brought out a spice rack just incase I wanted to put more spices in it myself. I've had a lot of curry in a lot of different Asian restaurants. But never have I had one bring out a spice rack for me. Summer rolls came out very timely. Our waitress explained to us how to eat them. "Use a spoon to apply the sauce. Do not dip or everything will fall out." We were all aware, but I'm guessing she was use to fat rednecks coming in there to eat. Too use to dipping their chicken nuggets in ranch dressing or corn dogs in mustard. They'll be instructions on how to use eating utensils in these type of restaurants soon. Entrees took about twenty minutes to come come out. Plates, bowls and silverware were all very clean. Dishes themselves looked amazing. My vegetable curry was a tiny bit spicy, but I think it was unavoidable. Still tasted very good but it could have done without the summer squash. I tried some of my mothers pumpkin curry and it was very sweet. I'm definitely going to try that when we return.

I'm not from this area so I used yelp to find this place. I did not find that it matched the reviews at all. First of all, decorations were cute but overall place looks a little run down and dingy. That often times doesn't affect my opinion but somehow the food was like the decor... only a ghost of what it should have been. They had a special for summer rolls which were almost completely tasteless - had to drench them in the peanut sauce it came with. The bf got pad thai, also very bland. It was just noodles, sauce, and bean sprouts and a tiny portion at that. Had to add a ton of chili to make it palatable. I got green curry spicy fried rice which was actually decent, but not enough to earn any repeat business from us.
