On the spur of he moment just passing by. Details to follow, but if you want a great simple well-prepared meal at a good price prepared fresh using FRESH ingredients, Giuseppe is a volatile character, and will even entertain the guest with tales and realities Italian history, past and present. I know Italian food. This is real. More details to follow. The music is modern Italian -- San Remo, Zucchero, Danieli, etc., -- NOT Dean Martin. The TV is OFF. They'll lower the lights for you if you ask. The plates of pasta are quite large, and the specials are special. Please don't tell anyone about his place.

This little spot was a great find! It's a hole in the wall, but it's the best Italian food we've ever had. We were the only ones in the whole place, but the waitress said that during the busy tourist seasons you can't get in without a reservation. Every sauce is house-made and all the ingredients were fresh. The homemade Italian dressing on the salad and red wine marinara were to die for! Really nice people & not a single complaint.

This place is so cute - the staff and the food are wonderful! Giuseppe is the main chef and he is straight from Italy. I'm not sure what crap food the other reviewer is used to because this is authentic Italian cooking. Try the bolognese, you will not regret it. Early bird specials from 4-6 make the already reasonable prices a steal. The desserts I have tried are the tiramisu and the cannoli. Both get 5 stars from myself and my fellow diners tonight. And we don't even usually like tiramisu (this is homemade and should not be missed). Also, the marinara is not the spicy variety however the garlic lover in you will be delighted. Pasta is cooked al dente, the only way pasta should be tasted. The rolls at dinner are served warm and crispy on outside, soft on inside. We had gnocchi marinara, penne marinara, eggplant Parmesan, and spaghetti bolognese. All loved these meals and especially chatting with our server, Joann.

Wow. What a fun three days of eating and tasting everything that Vero Beach and Sebastian Florida has to offer. As I told my wife, there weren't enough hours in a day to try all the restaurants in town. We truly ended with a bang. Italian was the theme of the evening. Again, checked online and read the reviews. I will admit I was a bit nervous about this one but it turned out to be the perfect ending to a great mini vacation. From the outside we pictured the restaurant to be huge. How happily mistaken we were when we walked in and it was nice and cozy. This is definitely our style. The server apologized for not greeting us at the door since we went ahead and sat ourselves. The soup of the evening was Pasta Fagioli. It wasn't our favorite. Wifey described it best as tasting like Puerto Rican red beans. I think we took two or three bites and moved the cups to the side to prepare ourselves for the main entree. Wifey ordered the Spaghetti Bolagnaise. Very good. Of course, wifey added some pepper and crushed red pepper flakes to give it some kick. Huge portion. Half of this came back with us to the hotel. I ordered the Chicken Alfredo. Tasty indeed. I did find myself adding salt and pepper as well. It was tasty on its own but after our Thai lunch this same day I was looking for more flavor. The warm bread and butter basket was nice. We didn't even touch it and you will be surprised we didn't even get dessert. Now that is a first. If in town I would suggest this place to anyone. Great music playing in the background. Classical Italian music or at least it's what it seems like to me. Great service and great food. You can't go wrong.

We ate here twice while staying in Sebastian. The linguine and white clam sauce was the best I have ever had, even on a trip to Italy. My husband had the spaghetti and Italian sausage with peppers and raved about it. Very good Chianti by the carafe. We loved this place!!

I am SO pleased that we decided to eat here! When we pulled into the parking lot, there was only one car there (but three more tables followed us in as soon as we got to the door), and we hesitated to go in. But we had just left another restaurant because we were treated rudely (yes, we were a group of seven w/o reservations, but c'mon, Sebastian is not exactly overrun with patrons at this time of year, and the tables at the other restaurant were not full---annyhoo, read my review of the Eagle's Nest for that one--); let me not digress.... Basil Ristorante (this is the only one in town, and they do not serve pizza, so the other restaurant listed here on Yelp is the same one as this, just misnamed). We were greeted warmly at the door by our server (the owner's son), and seated immediately (he asked us if "over here would be okay"--it was the best area of the room), and pulled a couple 4-tops together to accomodate us. He was attentive, warm, friendly, and not overbearing, and got it all correct, filled our glasses, poured the wine for those of us that were having a glass...the service could not have been better at a five-star fine dining restaurant in NYC! The food was very well-prepared, had very good flavor profiles for the regional Italian cuisine that it is named for (and where the family is from--Napoli), was plentiful without being too much (although most of us did take 'doggie-bags' away with us). We started with soup or salad--the Minestrone was deeply flavored, and obviously made in-house from scrach; a pleasure not to get the pre-made from a can which is generally watered down and bland. I had the Pasta Fagiole and it was the best I have ever had! Entrees included Shrimp Scampi over linguine, which was probably the most unique dish--normally you get overcooked shrimp bathing in a sea of olive oil and butter--not here! The shrimp were cooked well in a LIGHT olive oil/butter blend and there was lemon added--what a nice touch to lighten the dish in the middle of the summer! Still had the traditional flavor profile of Scampi, but what a nice complement with the lemon and served over linguine, which was perfectly al-dente, and yes, fresh. One of us had Spaghetti and Meatballs which was described as classic, two had Shrimp and Scallops over linguine in a light cream sauce which was described as very deep in flavor, despite the lightness of the overall sauce, and a perfect balance of the garlic notes. I had the Eggplant Parmesan with spaghetti in marinara sauce, and I really appreciated that they didn't pour the marinara over the Eggplant! The eggplant was super-fresh (our farmer's markets have an abundance of amazing eggplants at this time of year, of course!), and was lightly breaded and sauteed perfectly, with slightly crispy edges and yet not overcooked in the middle--quite a feat! The mozzerella on the top was creamy and delicious. The only slight suggestions I could possibly make would be to increase the wine list (I know this is difficult for a small restaurant in this economy), to slow-sautee the garlic a little more before adding to the garlic rolls (it was slightly undercooked and a bit bitter) and to include the use of the fresh herbs which are so readily available and sumptuous here at this time of year--basil (especially! LOL), oregano, thyme, marjoram, rosemary, etc.--it would certainly brinng the food up to the ultimate level without increasing the bottom line too much for the restaurant--the prices are VERY reasonable for what you get, and did I mention the service? :-) This restaurant just went on my favorites list! I feel a little guilty about not giving it five stars, but if somehow they would make the (very small!) adjustments listed above, it would DEFINITELY be five stars from me!

I reviewed this place before. The name has been changed by one word? Owner, perhaps? Again, if you are a foodie, from NY or Italian this is not your place. I have eaten here 2 X's and had pesto with pasta once. It was not fresh pasta and was not cooked well. Our service was alright. I can throw pasta in boiling water at home and at least cook it well. I am really amazed this place has been open as long as it has.

I love this place! Friendly and unpretentious, Basils is a gem. The food is real - fresh and home-made. Not much for beer and wine, but he has a few decent selections. Try the "Special" salad and the pesto pasta is right out of Italy. One of my favorites anywhere... Never mind the location or the decor, this is what you'd typically find all over Italy - A great little place with wonderful food. There's no bar, but wine and beer (limited). But even without the trimmings this is a favorite and has been for years. Nothing pre-processed from a food vendor, everything is still made by hand and what a difference that makes. This guy knows what he's doing.

I'm not being biased by saying this is the best Italian Restaurant in Florida! I've lived in NY and now reside in Miami. My uncle Guiseppe is the owner and loves his craft so much that he doesn't have any help in the kitchen. He's been doing this for more than 30 years. My aunt Yoli and him opened the restaurant over 13 years ago. God rest her soul. Try the Fruti de Mare, Eggplan Parm and if you want it a certain way he will accommodate. He wants you the customer to always be happy! All fresh ingredients and he's extremely dedicated to each and every dish! The tiramisu is to die for!!! I love it!! it's my favorite! He's always being featured in the news and is a staple in the neighborhood. Definitely stop in, homey environment and great amazing service! Also, very inexpensive. You will not be disappointed!

Not like home but good. I went here with my family to try my first sebastian pizza place. Upon arrival i found they sell whole pizza's only, no slices. We had garlic bread and it was delicious. Great flavor with the frated cheese on top but the best part was the garlic oil all over the bottom of the plate. The pizza was flavorful. It is made on a screen so either they don't have a brick oven and know how to work a pizza peel or the might be cooking in a conveyor belt oven. His cheese is good, maybe a little too much on the pizza. Sauce was very good. The dough was good also, but the bottom could have been more crisp. This place is worth trying.

No, just plain no. I don't know what made us go to an Italian restaurant while on vacation in Florida... Let me start by saying that it wasn't the quality of food that made me give 1 star, it was the way we were treated... :(. My husband & I are pretty heavily tattooed & for some reason, in this day and age, people still can't get over (or even just ignore) that... We walked into Basil with our 2 young daughters and were the only people in the place, we were "greeted" my the waitress & immediately felt out of place, we were seated, we ordered & then a man, woman & a teen girl came in, they are apparently regulars & know the waitresses name & the chef's name... As I'm trying to enjoy my dinner with my family, this man & woman start in on this poor teen about never getting tattoos & how gross they are & how stupid the people are that get them, & so on... The waitress chucked during his rant. The man keeps looking over at our table, & he's going on & on about tattoos & the "type" of people that would do that to themselves. I lost my appetite... & it took everything I had to stay calm & not address them & their hateful words, but my daughters didn't hear any of it & I didn't want to ruin our awesome family vacation by acknowledging those people and their hateful ignorance, so we left our food, paid our bill & left, to continue our vacation. I feel sorry for that teen girl, my family & I could leave all that negativity, but that poor girl is probably raised in it.

We ate here based on the great reviews and were not disappointed!! The house salad with homemade dressing was a great starter and the shrimp marinara was amazing! The service was the best in our opinion - super attentive and so helpful with ideas on local attractions - great for our traveling family!!!

Giuseppe go back to italy! How in the world your restaurant got 4 stars is a real mystery to me! Some of your dishes are very good and some are VERY bad!! But your attitude is the worst! How can you expect to get returning customers when you treat them so poorly??? Every restaurant I've been to (which is many) has always been accommodating and willing to make little changes here and there on their menus ... YOU, NO WAY, you tell your customers to go elsewhere! WHAAAT? Wise up, wise guy !! STOP talking to and treating people like they are stupid, when you are the stupid one !! If you were in New York or Italy you would definitely be out of business ..NO NY'er or Italian would put up with your nonsense!!! And the service in your restaurant is horrendous! .. That is because you are too cheap to hire more help! Oh excuse me, or is it because you can't hold on to any of your help? Yes, Even your help can't stand you, so I'm sure that is why you are so shorthanded. I've been to your rest. quite a few times and find it awfully funny that each time I see a new waitress. Hmmm, wonder why ? You are one arrogant, mean, nasty man!!! Guiseppe, do yourself a favor and don't come out of the kitchen and while you are back there put a mussle on! No one wants to hear your screaming! More importantly, while you are at it, go back to culinary school ... you need to sharpen up your cooking and prepping skills. Don't you know that if fish smells bad it IS bad? Why would you serve it to your customers? Again, stop being so cheap, throw it out Guiseppe! Don't poison your customers! And, do you not know how to wash your vegetables? As I am typing this, I still have a pile of sand in my mouth!! UGH! PHEW! I am sorry that I did not call you out of the kitchen and spit it at you! You truly deserved that! Well, Guiseppe, for certain you' ll never see my face again in your establishment and I'll make it known to all I possibly can that they should stay away from your PIG PEN ! Sadly, and without a doubt, your 4 star rating is because Sebastian is lacking in fine dining!!!!!

This is the worst italian food that I was ever served. Don't go there. Spare yourself the terrible experience. I can't believe that they are open. Practically empty when all other restaurants in sebastian are packed!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
