This place was not worth the 5 star review that brought us in. My niece had an overcooked burger with undercooked fries. My fiance had a very bland omelette, which was nothing but a chunk of dry egg (that looked fake) folded in half with a bunch of pan fried stuff thrown in the middle. My breakfast was ok but completely drowned in hollandaise sauce that was pre-made and ladled onto it from a soup warmer. I was also not too happy when I got our bill and saw that our tiny rocks glass of warm oj was 4.00 not 2.50 like the menu said (because it was fresh squeezed).

What an amazing place to get breakfast. I can not wait to go back to have lunch. The service could not have been better. The waitress was very attentive and professional. Explained the menu inside and out. Very clean in the restaurant and bathrooms. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived but was busy by the time we left. Hubby had fruit and steel cut oatmeal and my daughter had the most amazing chocolate chip pancakes. I had a very great tasting western omelet with the best home fries ever. They had a good looking lunch menu which is way I can't wait to go back. They do not open for dinner except on special nights as since the area does not look like it gets a lot of night time traffic in that area.

Finally a good breakfast and lunch place north of downtown Sarasota.. 4th visit and always has been great.. Good variety.. Avocado, omelets, pancakes, croissants, fresh squeezed orange juice.. All like it should be done!

Don't let the area fool you. This is a gourmet cafe with the best breakfast food in the area! Lots of healthy options for all eaters, great service, humble people, just an all around great place to eat. Food is amazing !! Real fresh squeezed Orange juice in a juicer too! I love sunnyside!

I enjoyed a great breakfast this morning at Sunnyside Cafe. The Brave One omelet was very tasty, cooked perfectly. Service was outstanding, very attentive staff without being overbearing. There was a gentleman outside playing a violin, with a guitar nearby. I think this is a Sunday thing, and maybe Thursday evenings, judging by a card I saw on the table. I hope to come back soon for lunch, and may make it regular weekend breakfast stop, as it is a 10-15 minute walk from where i live. If you are visiting the are, and staying near the airport at one of the motels along Tamiami Trail (US 41) or even the cluster of hotels near the airport entrance on University Parkway, this is close by. From University go south along Tamiami Trail (US 41) past the big Goodwill store and Barnacle Bill's restaurant. Sunnyside Cafe is just south of the Days Inn, on the east side of the road.

Nice restaurant. The facade is a bit nondescript but inside and the food is great. Tofu Scramble and Brave One were great. Owners are friendly and accommodating.

Visited the Sunnyside Café today, lunch was a fantastic lobster roll, topped everything off with homemade apple pie tarts with a side of ice cream fantastical

Looking for a good, reasonably priced place in Sarasota, we found it on yelp with 5 stars across the board. The food and service were as advertised. The omlets were terrific and the burgers big and cooked to perfection. Service was attentive without being intrusive and the waitress explained the specials and took questions and special orders patiently.

Best breakfast I've had in a while! Asked at nearby hotel where to find good breakfast place, was misdirected to a coffee shop that sent us to another place we never found. Happened to come back by original stop and saw this place across the street, just opened 2 months ago. Family owned, great people, and honestly incredible food: fresh, tasty fruit, beautiful and tasty scrambld eggs with kale and roasted peppers, homemade sausage......... Everything we wanted and more than we usually find. Stop by, help support good business and great food! I wish them the very best luck!

This was a terrific find. First, the staff were very accommodating at quickly putting together a table to fit our group. We had the Greek lamb burger, mushroom risotto, Sunnyside burger, fruity waffle and chocolate chip pancakes, and there wasn't a crumb left by the end. Highly recommend this delicious restaurant.

A welcome addition to the Sarasota breakfast scene! Feels a bit like a hidden gem at this point, but I am sure that won't last once people try them out. I was immediately impressed by the clean and open layout... Nothing to hide! We watched the line cook preparing made-to-order meals and the orange juice being freshly squeezed! The menu is simple, but the basic meals are elevated with fresh, quality ingredients. I had a special, the Nutella French Toast. The toast was the perfect texture. The portion was perfect too. I opted for the organic maple syrup for a mere $1.50. I also added a side of sausage, which was very flavorful. My husband enjoyed the Greek Omelet, which included fresh spinach, tomatoes, and quality feta. The potato pancake was a delicious, crispy addition. The coffee was also quite good in flavor, but perhaps a tad too cool even fresh from the pot. We will definitely return... They are lightyears ahead of some of their closest competitors who are always busy for some unimaginable reason.

This is definitely one of our favorite places for breakfast!! The home made sausage is the best and the staff and owners could not be more attentive and accommodating! We love this life place!!!

Nice stop for lunch. Very cute! Hubby's Eggs Benedict was spot on and my spinach kale salad with roasted chickpeas was good with a light lemon and parm cheese topping.

Wonderful, relaxing environment with uplifting, beautiful artwork. I loved that there was a slideshow of photos of nature on the TV rather than a TV show. Our server was terrific; my coffee was never less than half full and he was very nice. Tons of great vegan and vegetarian options and really well made food. The grilled tofu was well-seasoned and the whole wheat toast had a nice hint of honey.

This place was awesome! If you look twice you will miss it! It is between to "rough" looking motels. We were a little concerned when we pulled in. I am so glad we didn't judge a book by it's cover. I had the eggs benedict and it was perfect. The service was slow but it appeared they had two people serving a busing the entire place. Overall a wonderful meal and we will definitely return if I am back in the area.

What a great place to eat! Nestled between two motels, the Days Inn and in from of Oakwood Apts, this Cafe has not only great breakfasts but a nice lunch choice as well as a wonderful friendly staff. The owner is European. The deserts are European. Try them out. Great service

We weren't sure at first because the location was by an old what looked like HOJO's. We were so glad we stopped by! Great salmon burger and caprese flatbread lots of interesting food options...upscale fusion feel. Yummy lunch and just around the corner from Ringling Bros. museum. We will return.

Visiting Sarasota and wanted a good breakfast before heading home. We found Sunnyside Cafe and enjoyed every bite. The homemade sausage was perfectly seasoned and complimentrd my eggs perfectly. Avulious omelet with avocado tomatoes onions and cilantro had the perfect mix of flavors. Potato pancakes came with every breakfast..yummy. Hungarian crepes with homemade preserves were light and delicious. Left with oatmeal raisin cookies that were the best we have ever found. Staff was welcoming and personable. Our server kept our coffee cups full and brought water with lemon without having to ask for it. Definitely will be back. Kudos to the Sunnyside Staff.

Best breakfast place around! The food is simple, common breakfast foods but their chef has just taken it up a notch. The portion sizes are even perfect. It's not your average breakfast joint- from decor to service.

Stopped by for a late breakfast while visiting Sarasota with the family. The eggs Benedict was FANTASTIC and the potato pancakes are life changing. The boys loved the waffles and chocolate chip pancakes.

Excellent! The lobster roll was best I've had, full of meat, no fillers. The sweet potato fries were perfect & hubby's omelet was fresh & tasty. Oh and the potato pancake-I could make a meal from a couple of those. We even had dessert, a chocolate layer cake, can't remember the name. It too was super. The device was excellent. Definitely coming back. It's super close to SRQ. Small place next to a motel. I think they are open thurs nites too.

Best breakfast in Sarasota! Especially the "grill tofu", fresh farm egg, and fresh squeezed OJ. Love, love! Will definitely come back and recommend. This place deserve more than 5 stars! Thanks for the awesome breakfast.

This place is so much more than the little diner it looks like on the outside. The food is great and really reasonably priced! Personal favorites are the mushroom risotto and the roast pork, arugula and Dijon vinaigrette on house made flatbread. Great service too! Highly recommended!

Excellent food!! Super homemade salsa and waiter was very helpful with recommendation for ordering for young kids ..we WILL be back

I am not from Sarasota however this must me one of those secret places that the locals go to. Simply AMAZING! The food was high quality, they took pride in their food, great service and atmosphere. I can't wait to get back to Sarasota to eat here again. Don't overlook it, you will be missing out! I had the lamb burger, it was seasoned perfectly. Everything was so good I had to try a desert and that did not disappoint either.

Best Breakfast and Lunch! What a wonderful meal! The service was wonderful not to mention the immaculate restaurant. I even went into the bathroom just to make sure. You know who you are out there; bathrooms are a "big" deal for cleanliness. The food is delicious, hearty, clean tasting, filling and served with a smile. The large space is open, light and warm. Attentive servers take care of requests with expedition. They have a nice diverse breakfast and lunch menu with thoughtfulness to one's budget. The owners I understand are from Slovakia and Hungary and attentive to the atmosphere and menu. I had a Grilled Caesar Salad. The homemade dressing was perfect! Croutons were crunchy and the Romaine was Crispy and grilled wonderfully! One of the women in my party had the Avolicious Omelet. Delicious and the only added comment would be not to put all the salsa in the side dish, "It was more than needed". Save it, and add more sour cream on the side for the Delectable Potato Pancake! Oh My Gosh! And for the other guest she decided on "The Brave One": This omelet was delicious and "Hearty" as my friend would say. Good flavor and comes with toast, potato pancake, ("Delicious!") and salsa or a seasonal fruit medley. Great place to go. I would recommend it to all my neighbors. If you are staying up by the airport or live in the vicinity, please stop in and enjoy the food and the atmosphere..... It's wonderful! sunnysidecafesrq.com Mon - Sat 7am - 3pm Sunday 7am-2pm 941-359-9500.

Outstanding meal! The exterior of the restaurant is understating the quality of the food and service. If you're looking for some fresh, home cooked Hungarian food, this is the place.

Tried this cafe the first day for breakfast, returned today, and will go again tomorrow. Omelets are light and fluffy with the perfect amount of filling. We can't say anything bad about the food or service. Don't let the location deter you from giving this place a try.
