My girls love all Japanese steak houses and this one is a favorite. We make the trip every year on spring break. The service is always wonderful and friendly and the show is very fun!!!!!! The Sushi is very fresh- we had the spicy tuna rolls and loved them. My daughter had the Salmon and said it was the best she has had. I tried a new dish- It was a marinated flank or skirt steak- It was marinated in garlic and had an amazing flavor. I would get that again. Few restaurants are in business for over 20 years and Saga has it right. Great Food and Great Service = repeat customers. We will be back next year!

Wow, wow, and WOW!!! The entire dinner experience was wonderful! You know how sometimes when you go into a Hibachi style restaurant and the grease smell permeates everything? NOT HERE! Saga is clean and nice. Although we did not have Hibachi, we sat at the sushi bar. The sushi is fresh and prepared simply. We ordered eel, salmon and tuna. Delicious. The spicy tuna roll, spider roll and Mexican roll are amazing. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. This is the place we will come to now on for sushi.

I have been a customer here for around eight years now and the food is always excellent, fresh and cooked exactly to order. We usually sit at a cooking table. Portions are plentiful and there is a nice variety. Favorites include filet and the steak and lobster combo - had that tonight. Soup and salad is included as is fried rice and a nice assortment of cooked vegetables. Always good - always fun. Highly recommended!!

I made my way to Sarasota with a friend to try out authentic Japanese sushi on a Sunday night. My experience was relaxing and inviting. Upon arriving I'm greeted with a very attractive host. He's definitely the owner's son. He informed me that they just redecorated their lobby. The decor was traditional and green. I liked the touches of Japanese culture spread across the rooms. We got seated at the sushi bar, against the wall, which felt more private. We were really close to the sushi chefs. Next to me was a cool Japanese toy called the kendama, or ring and pin. We ordered one of our favorites. My friend ordered the unaju (fancy box). Max the owner informed us that it's different from unadon (boring bowl). I ordered my rare favorites: uni (sea urchin), ama ebi (sweet shrimp), 2 different toro (fatty tuna). The toro was served with one plain and the other with scallions. It was a nice contrast of flavor. As expected, everything was lovely. If I'm ever in the area, I'll come again and try their popular teppanyaki.

People are nice and the place looks ok.....but it was the worst sushi I have ever had. They use tons of salt. The hide the little sushi that is on the dish behind cream cheese and sauces. Don't order the volcano role

This was a beautiful sushi experience my mom who travels to the northeast often, says this is better then what she has had there. It was presented to us by the sushi chef himself and it made a truly great birthday meal hear in Florida :)

Went last night for our anniversary - DEFINITELY a great pick :D I grew up in Japan, so I am usually pretty skeptical of Japanese restaurants - especially in Florida - but this is the real deal! When you enter the restaurant, you are directed either toward the steakhouse (teppanyaki/hibachi) side or the 'restaurant' sushi/menu side. I had the SUSHI BOAT! $35 and it had an amazing variety of yummy nigiri and maki - hubs had the beef katsu. We were both served miso soup (you had a choice of that or chicken broth) and a salad with a really tasty dressing before our entrees arrived. When my sushi arrived, a chef came out to explain each piece, which I think was a really great touch. We'd definitely return!

Visiting on a beach vacation and pleasantly surprised to find such wonderful Japanese cuisine and outstanding service. It was a quiet night and we were early diners but it felt like the entire staff was there to make sure we enjoyed our dinner. My 8 year old son loves tuna sushi and he managed to eat 8 pieces and declared they were delicious. He is a budding expert on all things tuna! His sushi was accompanied by the coolest origami animals that made his day. My wife enjoyed two appetizers with an outstanding teriyaki chicken and mixed stir fry vegetables. I am the most adventurous eater in the family and love to try specials. I had the spicy conch salad that went amazingly with a cold Sapporo. I then moved on to the fried oyster dinner. The chef delivered a sauce that was perfect for the small, tender Pacific oysters. The light panko batter was perfect for the delicate oysters. With everyone completely content, the chef delivered a complimentary sampler of ice cream that included strawberry, green tea and black sesame flavors! Perfect finish to a perfect dinner. On the way out the host offered two more origami butterflies to my sons. We will be back even if we have to drive 1,100 miles to visit!

Place closes at 10pm. I show up at 9:30pm. They said "sorry we closed early". Seriously? Why advertise you're open till 10pm if you are going to close at 9:30pm? And this was on a Friday night!!! Won't be back!

This is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at when I visit Sarasota. The service is wonderful and friendly. The sushi is delicious, especially when the chef creates something for you. There are too many amazing dishes to list, but don't miss the specials. I have yet to try the hibachi. The sushi is just too good!

Decor great and original, very classy for a hibachi grill. Food is good. Filet mignon and shrimp were cooked well. Feel free to ask for more sauce if you want. They are generous.

I can't believe it took me 3 yrs of living here to go to this place. So yummy! Fabulous hibachi, and it's original - not the same old menu every other hibachi place in the world uses. Also good for regular dining & sushi.

Saga is by far my favorite Japanese Steakhouse that I've found - anywhere. Every other place I go gets compared to them and NO ONE else has better sauces than Saga (the "white sauce" is the best ever). I love the bacon wrapped asparagus thing they give you - delicious. If you're going to go to a Japanese Steakhouse in Sarasota.. Make it Saga!

I visited while on my honeymoon. Food was great, service was even better. It started off badly with a group of drunk, loud, obnoxious 65+ year old's talking fascist politics near our table. After putting up with it for a while we asked nicely to be moved. There was really no where to move us, so they put us in a private hibachi room. They were very apologetic about the whole thing. The sushi chef even came out to apologize and gave us a special treat. They were SO nice and accommodating. And the food was delicious! I would highly recommend this place both for food and service.

We arrived at 7:00 pm to meet 2 friends; party of 4, we were told 15-20 minute wait for sushi only, first come first serve, the teppan you may make reservations, we called ahead and knew this before we arrived. As we waited for our table we saw the hostess had apologized to 2 different parties and one party left. One hour later our table was ready. It took 15-20 minutes for our 3 glasses of water and 1 glass (#8) of Ferrari Carano Chardonnay; by the way, to get a glass of a good CA wine in Sarasota is a treat!!! That actually made my night!!! We had several types of sushi, hand rolls, sashimi, tempura etc. Everything tasted terrific it only took 1 3/4 hours to finally get one morsel of food; we were STARVING; so we thought!! We gobbled our food down like it was the last supper, the sushi had an average presentation, and the service was extremely LAME!!! The Chef was very apologetic and they brought us some very tasty sushi before they started our same type sushi that we actually ordered. Not quite sure why they didn't just throw our raw fish on the plate to begin with??? Eating sushi for 2 hours is the normal; waiting for 2 hours is not Realizing we do have a "season" and everyone comes to SRQ, maybe they should have more than 1 sushi chef on a Saturday night.

Yum yum yum. This place is really close to my Mom's house, so when I'm in town, we end up eating there pretty regularly. Nevertheless, each time feels like a special occasion. The service is great - somehow we often get the same waitress - the sweetest older lady named Matsuko (I think!). The atmosphere is really comfortable. The lights are sort of low, and the restaurant is divided into several dining rooms, so the place feels really intimate. My Mom goes bananas for the chicken and veggie tempura, and I can't get enough of the delectable edamame, the spider/Mexico rolls, ice creams, umm basically whatever I order. I can't wait for my Christmastime visit! One thing to note: Saga has some weirdness with their schedule - they're closed on Monday or something like that - so you might call to be sure they're open (and you might want to make a reservation).

I always get the Butterfish.. Hands down, this is the best Teppanyaki in SRQ.

Best sushi in Sarasota, incredibly fresh. Great entertainment when the chef cooks in front of you. Excellent food and noticeably fresh. I live in sarasota and it's the only place I go when we have visitors from out of town.

We tried almost everything there, sushi and the dinner table, and enjoyed our food and service very much. Many kids of our friends and even our own son worked there years ago and they liked working there as well.
