Went here with the family and was impressed. I almost always order sashimi and a maki. There's no way to hide the quality of the fish with sauces, so the quality of the food was obvious to me. Each fish was fresh and well-prepared, and the service was smokin' fast. Most of the places we've eaten are incredibly slow by our New York standards...these chefs were fast, precise, and the server was excellent.

This is a classic example of a restaurant which tries to serve more than one ethnic flavor and ends up being supremely mediocre at both. In this case they serve both Thai and Japanese (sushi). The sushi rolls had tons of rice, cucumber, asparagus and every other type of filler you can squeeze in there, but the fish was conspicuously absent. They might as well have been called the 'Vegetarian Rolls". The Thai flavored "wok" dished were not stir fried at all, but rather a semi wanna be Panang Curry but which missed the mark. The first salad on the menu (I forget the name) did not taste quite right either from a flavor profile. The service was passable but the waitress appeared quite disinterested in being there. Overall not quite a one star, but I would definitely look elsewhere for a restaurant that actually knows what it wants to be, rather than a catch all Asian flavored place.

The food is terrible. I ordered the beef pad thai and it was ridiculously salty and not even pad thai. Everyone in my table of 8 was unable to finish their food because the quality was terrible. 3 people ordered lime since it was not given as part of the pad thai to try to even out the flavor to finish the pad thai. But all failed to finish it due to the terrible flavor. The price is expensive for the quality of food given. One person in my party bit on a pebble that was found in his chicken pad thai. When we left the manager didn't say "good bye" or "have a nice day" he said " Oh good they left. You can sit at their table now" I'm thoroughly disappointed in what they consider "thai" or "Japanese" food.

Food was average at best. Tempura was greasy and overcooked. Rolls and sushi were not anything special. Our server refilled water and that was it. The manager made a walk-by asking two tables if "everything OK? But never stopped walking . Clearly did not want feedback. The Hostess barely acknowledged patrons coming in and did not even look up from her phone as folks left. We have enjoyed this restaurant several time a year for 10 years. Not likely to return.

Pacific Rim is loud inside and out. Initially you would think this may be a nice date night type of place. It is a loungey, dark lit, share food kinda vibe, but holding a conversation here is impossible. It is just way too loud. There are two paper list of sushi options you can choose from. I wish the menu was less cluttered with words, and had more pictures. There was also a thick physical menu with appetizers, soups, thai options, fried rice, and seafood options as well as a drink menu. For appetizers, we ordered crispy tofu and fried spring rolls (all veggies). Next, I ordered an oriole roll with cucumber and various fish. In addition, the hawaiian roll with mango and various fish was also ordered. The rolls were pretty small compared to other places. They both were pretty good and in their own way with distinctive flavors, but for the price it was just okay. I wish they came at the same time, but they didnt. My hubby ordered the teriyaki chicken glaze with plain fried rice and veggies. It was ok, and it was pretty plain just with a thick teriyaki sauce. Our server was okay, and my muddled mixed fruit mojito was good, but seemed to be pretty weak. This was an alright experience. At least, the outside patio is dog friendly which is another reason we stopped by.

We ordered sushi which was supposed to be salmon but there was none to be found and presentation was bad. Pad Thai which did not taste like Pad Thai and Hamachi which was fishy and covered with scallions (not mentioned on menu) and a Pineapple Curry which except for the pineapple chunks was terrible. The Chicken Tempura was OK. We have scratched Pacific Rim off our list.

Incredibly racist! The food here wasn't good. The pad Thai tastes nothing like pad Thai, and the other items my group ordered were barely edible. The hostess and manager were incredibly rude. Our server was great though and tried to help us out, but there was only so much he could do. When we left we heard the manager say, out loud, "oh good they're leaving." Even without the horrible behavior the food was awful and I'm not sure how this place got such a high rating.

Went around 6 pm on a Saturday night. I got seated right away and there were a few other people enjoying dinner in the cozy atmosphere. I ordered the Pacific Heat and Florida rolls which totaled just under $16. Both rolls were flavorful and satisfying overall. Luckily, I don't live too far so I'm sure I'll stop in soon.

  • Nick C.

Can't understand the lower ratings. Sushi was fresh and delicious. A lot of inventive rolls you won't find elsewhere. Drinks were strong and good. The service was great, even for a big party with lots of separate checks.

Absolutely delightful! I can't say enough about this place, from the friendly and prompt staff, to the ambience and most importantly the freshest seafood around. My favorite is the Google Roll, a must try! You won't be disappointed.

We always have an amazing experience here! My parents don't eat sushi so they get the regular meals when we go and they rave about how good they are! Sushi is also incredible! Try the Texas roll, you won't regret it!

This place is meh. You'll like Pacific Rim if you like a lot of fried/cooked, americanized sushi that is elaborate, on the pricy side and presented well. Drinks are pretty basic and not that good; overpriced and nothing notable and there is no variety on the menu. If you don't like flavored vodka, you're out of luck here. The vibes in here are weird, there are always lots of blue lights and they play fast paced house music. All of the servers/hostesses are women and they wear short and tight fitting party/club dresses. I've never had a server with much of a personality, nothing negative, nothing positive; always just average service. I don't mind coming here but I always find my bill being higher than I'd like it to be and am not really someone who needs the frills enjoy my meal. I'd rather go to Yume or Sake House, but if I'm with a group that wants to go here, I don't mind.

  • Scott K.

Service was decent but the food mediocre at best. Spicy tuna roll had mush tuna (a sign of frozen fish thawed too quickly) and the sauce with the beef dish had obviously been thickened with corn starch and was syrupy/sweet.

  • Brittney C.

Although I like the location and atmosphere, I just felt they were overpriced. You can find cheaper and tastier sushi elsewhere. This was not bad food by any means, I just wouldn't go out of my way to pay more for less quality. I do know people who love it, but as a sushi fan, this is not at the top of my list.

good sushi and great service, good place for lunch. I ordered my normal philly roll and Tekka Maki. It was fresh and tasty. definitely will be back next week. $25 for 2 rolls and veggy spring roll.

Great food, never disappointed. A lot of vegan and vegetarian options as well as traditional dishes. Happy, happening vibe with soft lighting and knowledgeable staff! One of my top picks for Sarasota restaurants to visit.

Meh is the word, bad sushi. Not cool. No, no, no. Even the Thai food has become a victim of mediocrity. I feel that they've become too successful for their own good. Too bad as it was a great neighborhood spot.

  • Li C.

Came here for the convenience. Their sushi? High on price and low on taste. Yume's sushi are definitely better quality and more fresh I would even say.

  • MaryAnn C.

Restaurant is clean and comfortable. Sushi is very good. You can get entrees that resemble thai, but, not quite. That is why they call it Asian Fusion. Waitress was attentive. The jalapeño poppers were very delicious. My son says the eel sushi is creamy and yummy.

  • Jen B.

what the hell happened to Pacific Rim??? This used to be great sushi, and now it's overpriced and downright terrible. After going twice recently (thought they were having a bad night the first time), I can't imagine stomaching another trip. I'm a sarasota native and used to frequent this place often years ago. The service is as terrible as the food now. Go to Ahi Sushi or Vizen instead. You'll leave satisfied and with more money in your pocket. Pac Rim needs new management and sushi chefs, stat!

  • Sarah S.

Very good and fresh sushi. I have enjoyed every roll we've had. Wish they had a few more 'non-tempura' options but the ones they have are good. It's nice that they have a full bar and a lively ambiance. One question, are the waitresses explicitly told to wear tight dresses and platform shoes? Makes it feel like a Japanese hooters a bit...and I could do without that.

  • Rolf P.

I keep eating here because it's convenient. Food used be be innovative and tasty. Now its just ok. I'm pissed off today about the cute young help who are all hot and everything in their little black dresses who spend all of their time with their friends at the bar and ignore everyone else. My table ordered 4 dishes and the LBD girl managed to remember 3 of them. The owner keeps finding more of these women who never seem to stay long. WTF is his agenda?

Our favorite sushi in Sarasota! Awesome atmosphere, great service and great food! Try the Texas roll, hot lava roll, and pad woon sen... Just a few of our favorites at Pac Rim!

  • Lauren M.

Love this place for good sushi, great appetizers and awesome drinks. The hot sake with raspberry liqueur is delicious. We always start with an order of the dumplings and the shrimp-jalapeño tempura "poppers" which, in true jalapeño fashion: some are spicy and some are mild- so this one is not for the faint of heart, but man are they tasty! I've also had their wonton soup which is yummy. As for the rolls, we usually get the lava roll (hot creamy crab stick and scallops over a basic California roll with cream cheese), the Texas Roll (crabstick, cream cheese, spicy tuna and avocado all tempura fried and served with a sweet sauce), and my favorite: the spicy Three Amigos (tempura shrimp, spicy tuna, cilantro, jalapeños, chili sauce with hamachi and tuna sashimi) yum! For desert, recommend the chocolate martini!

Fresh sushi, excellent service, inviting environment, and inventive cocktails set in Southside Village. Stroll around some of the neighborhood shops and have a delicious meal at Pac Rim... the recipe for a great day or night. One of my favorite go-to places in Sarasota.

  • Caitlin M.

Great experience every time I have ever been here. I have only ever had the sushi, because that's what I go for, but I hear the cooked entrees are great also. They have an extensive martini list with fun flavors. Bonus? They play electronic music. One of the only forward-thinking, younger themed places in Sarasota. Still older person friendly, just don't expect to hear jazz music!

Our experience at Pacific Rim was limited to a meal at the Sushi bar, which is our preferred seating in a restaurant like this. And it was thoroughly enjoyable - we saw none of the negative elements that others have expressed here. On a Friday night at 7 pm, the restaurant was full, with a 15 to 30 min wait for inside table service (outdoor seating is available, but not advisable on a rare 48 degree night in Sarasota!) The noise level was moderate, but no problem carrying on a conversation. We ordered a standard martini, and it was served perfectly; dry to order, bone chilled glass, stuffed queen olives . . . Service was rapid, friendly and attentive. They use an interesting service model, where the wait staff appears not to be table assigned, so if you need anything, someone is always available. Or maybe that's just how they work the sushi bar but it seemed the norm throughout the restaurant. The sushi was just plain excellent. A very long a la carte menu, where you order sushi by the piece, plus some very unique rolls. My only "complaint" being that a large proportion of them come with cream cheese or mayo. The wine list is the best I've seen at a sushi restaurant, with good representation from around the world. We haven't had a chance to try sushi at too many other Sarasota restaurants, but with Pacific Rim there will always be a go-to place for great food and ambiance.

Amazing!!! They serve amazing sushi, can't go wrong with dining here. And if you feel up to it, you can also create/order your own sushi rolls! I highly recommend trying this place. In addition to the sushi, they have amazing appetizers and entrees to choose from!

Amazing food and service. For those that aren't a fan of sushi, their non-sushi items are delicious. Plenty of it drink selections as well.

This place has decent sushi with a bit of an upscale atmosphere. I can't say I've ever had anything I didn't enjoy here but its not my favorite sushi place either. The seating sometimes gets a bit cramped, but its a fun place to eat for a date or girls night out.

I love going to Pacific Rim for great sushi! I had out of town visitors, took them here and they also enjoyed the great food. As we were being seated, the server spilled water on my wallet and immediately apologized and offered an appetizer on the house. They then asked if we would mind moving seats as a large dinner party insisted on being seated together. We didn't mind and for that, they gave us another appetizer and a sushi roll! The sushi was arranged beautifully and it's the best sushi I've had so far in the area. I added an order of uni; it tasted sweet and delicious! If you don't mind the parking, I would definitely recommend Pacific Rim!

The aesthetic of this restaurant was lovely the outdoor patio was lit with lights and candles. I was looking for hibachi however and at the hostess stand I was informed they had hibachi that was just not cooked in front of you and that was not the case. The NY strip Grill entree that I ordered was not what I expected and did come over cooked but the waitress was very polite when returning the dish to be re cooked.

  • Lady K.

Not my favorite. Food was good but so very over priced. Service was ok, nothing notable; there was no mention of the 45min wait for our food. Not very many vegetarian friendly options. We couldn't get any appetizers. Like I said, the food was good but we won't come here again.

One of my all time favorite sushi places in Sarasota. The service is great, the sushi is delicious and it doesn't fall apart when you pick it up and the size of one piece is larger than an average piece you would see anywhere else

  • Otto A.

Great cocktails. Been here a number of times and food was good. Must have been the New Year's Eve rush as the chicken stir fry tasted like steamed chicken with some garlic added later. The steak noodle bowl was the same, steak cooked with steam then added afterwards to a ton of noodles and some broth...tasteless. Sushi good yet not exceptionable Ladies Try the lychee martini

Delicious dinners for DH and me. I had an excellent sashimi dinner and he had wokked pork loin and Thai style veggies. All was very fresh and great service with a sweet, friendly smile. Drinks from Happy Hour were excellent, even the well drinks. The environment is pleasant and the prices were right. The whole experience was great. We'll be back, and we'll bring friends. Thank you!

Very dirty, our table was sticky and clearly not wiped down well, we had two different waitresses and it felt like they were competeing against who would get the tip, didnt bring our drinks out until the entree. great sushi though. but definetly lacking some cleanliness.

We go here frequently with our 8 year old son who happens to love sushi - the staff is really nice and the sushi is fresh and made to order. My husband claims he had the best Uni EVER here. A really big deal being a sushi snob from California. My son loves the sushi burrito created by the chef especially to his liking. All in all great atmosphere and fun place to have dinner with a 40ish crowd.

Walk in to a crowded noisy place. See plenty of empty tables. See no hostess. Wait a long time. Finally get seated. Find a gigantic tome of a menu in your way. Be afraid that you will accidentally knock over one of the 800 items placed on your table as their standard setting. Feel awkward about the silverware and napkin dropped inside your water glass. Do you dare to disturb it? What if it bites? Open this tome to find that it, in fact, does not contain the written ancestry of every living being in China since the dawn of man. Rather, it has a reasonable list of items which could (and should) just fill a single two-sided menu. Order some stuff you feel safe saying out loud. Then wait. And wait. Laugh silently to yourself as the older couple next to you requests some ginger from a waitress by calling it "that pink stuff." A refined crowd dines here, you think not. When the food comes, watch in horror as your girlfriend continues to be disappointed by you AND the food all at once. You, at least, have a chance later to redeem yourself. Realize that this place is for tourists and snowbirds, not foodies. Pay more than you want to for what you got, and try to forget this ever happened.

i'm still looking for that perfect thai/sushi restaurant. we ordered calamari which was good, not great and had the pad thai. it was drenched with sauce and the flavor was fair. the beer choices were limited and the martinis were okay. server was gracious and knowledgeable. just not what i had hoped for after passing it so many times-it does have outdoor seating which would be nice on a warm night. but, don't have high expectations for great food.

Good sushi but our server with the nose piercing was extremely rude. She obviously was having a horrible night or hates her job tremendously. Definitely not good for business. She was so unprofessional that I only joined yelp to write this.

The food is very good. The music is so loud that you can barely talk to the person you are eating with and the staff turns it up louder if they are enjoying the song. I can barely stand it.

We arrived five minutes before 6p.m. And were told Happy Hour was over. By the time we sat and our server arrived it was 5:58 p.m. We asked again and even though it was still not 6pm and we pointed that out, she said it was over. Hmmm.... Not a great first impression. The food was very good, but took a full 35 minutes to get out of the kitchen after we placed our order. I asked about the Wente chardonnay on the menu ( was it Riva Ranch? Morning Fog?) the server didn't know but offered to check. She came back ten minutes later and said she could not find out for me. Gee...how hard is it to ask the bartender to look at the label? Their pours are VERY stingy. Definitely squeezing a full five glasses out of each bottle, despite the relatively steep prices. Wine menu is more interesting than your typical Sarasota restaurant. The food is excellent. That is their biggest draw. Nice ambience, but I'd get carry out next time. Service was "meh". They never once offered a "happy New Years!" To us. All business here. The host who sat us had the most personality of the staff. Overall, 3.5 stars.

One of my favorite restaurants in Sarasota! Pacific Rim is always packed for dinner Friday, Saturday and Sunday night so call ahead for a table or be prepared to wait 30-45 minutes. When the weather is nice the outside patio is a great spot to enjoy a meal. The sushi is exceptionally good and exceptionally expensive. If sushi is not your thing there are many cooked dishes. The best deal on the menu are the wok bowls. For $12-$18 you get a curry bowl with your choice of protein, vegetables and sauce. My favorite wok bowls are the cashew nut, pad prik coconut and the sweet chili wok bowl. The seafood portions can be a little small so I'd reccomend getting the seafood combination. The restaurant offers a very solid martini menu. I have seen quite a few parties held at Pacific Rim. Service can be hit or miss. We've had a mix of great and not so great service. FYI: lunch is served Monday through Friday, but not on the weekends.

We chose this restaurant for dinner one night while on our annual family vacation in Sarasota. Although I love Sarasota, its dining scene could use a little re-vamping. It seems everybody there has lower standards when it comes to food, or maybe I'm just spoiled with all the fabulous dining options Miami has to offer. Anyway, we chose Pacific Rim based on pretty good reviews. The service was pretty good. As an appetizer, we ordered the gyoza, the crispy wonton tartars and the salmon and cream cheese rolls. All were very good. I would say the best part of our meal. Then came the entrees. I ordered the pork fried rice which had a grey color and absolutely NO flavor. I had to add tons of soy sauce in order for it to be edible. The pork looked and tasted as if it was boiled. My brother had the pad thai which was almost inedible. Again, it had no flavor and has a very strange texture to it. I would not come back. Maybe only for appetizers.

The service with a sneer wasn't appreciated. Our waitress didn't smile once and we had to repeat everything we said to her twice (I mean everything... there wasn't a single thing we said to her that she understood the first time around!). Cocktails were awful... Sushi was extremely good. Not sure if we would return or not... Might give it another try, but there are a lot of good restaurants in Sarasota....

We recently had a large birthday celebration at the Pacific Rim in Sarasota. From the owners to the staff to the food this place is phenomenal. Whether you are having a lunch or a party the presentation, the professionalism and the poise of this restaurant cannot be beat! Amazing is just a word, and it really it can't describe the food the Pacific Rim serves. There is something for everyone from sushi to woks--and plenty of vegetarian options as well! Everything is prepared in precise strokes, and you can easily see the care that the Pacific Rim and the staff provide. They were very easy to work with to plan the party and the outdoor area was VERY nicely decorated. If you are planning a large event--they make it stress free so you can enjoy. Cannot say enough good things about the food, staff and general atmosphere.

I love the new google roll! They keep the menu new and the people are great! There's a good atmosphere and outdoor dining if you want to sit outside. The service is quick and the waitresses are nice. Try the white linen martini if you're waiting for a table.

The ambiance at Pacific Rim is beautiful. I feel like I am in a sushi restaurant in a 1970's James Bond film. It is very Mid-century Modern, all they need are the terrazzo floors. I also like the European techno lounge music that they were playing, which makes the place seem more trendy than other places in the area. The open kitchen was really entertaining and there was just a positive vibe about the place. So, I give it 5 stars for the atmosphere, too bad the food is just mediocre. Pacific Rim has been recommended to me for sushi by pretty much anyone I have ever spoken to that lives in the area. The most important being my Japanese friend, which makes me wonder if she ever heard of Vizen sushi (which is far better). We were there on a Friday during lunch and the place was practically empty. Which makes me not understand why the waitress rushed us to order. I wanted to try many items on the menu, so I could get a good sampling of what they have to offer, but I was so rushed that I was just able to skim the sushi menu briefly. We even asked the waitress to come back a second time, she was back only a few second later to hound us. Other than that, the service was good and everything came out pretty fast. My favorite item here was the Martini Salad ($6.25), a wakame based salad with solid flavor and freshness. The imitation crabmeat and fresh crabmeat paired well with the ginger dressing on top, mixed with asparagus, cucumber, and carrot. We ordered sashimi Eel ($5.00/3 pieces), which were served at a cool temperature and more gelatinous, than I am normally used to. The Scallop Salad nigiri ($1.00/1 piece) was unique and tasty, but slightly bland. The White Tuna roll ($5.95) had barely any rice inside the roll and the meat was a little tough, definitely not melt in your mouth quality. The Unakyu roll ($5.95) was eel and cucumber, and was what we expected. The Texas Roll ($7.95) was a deep fried roll filled with cooked tuna, avacado, and cream cheese and had a tasty sweey chili sauce on top. It was a very small portion, the taste was good, but the texture was not. The Seven Seas Roll ($11.95) was very small oval shaped roll that had small dab of lobster salad inside, as well as some veggies. I could not eat the whole roll because it was topped with seven different types of chewy raw fish, and the flavor and texture of the raw fish bothered me. My favorite roll was small as well, the Typhoon Roll ($9.95), because it had a delicate cilantro taste with spicy shrimp and asparagus. Since I do not recommend eating the raw fish here, this is a roll that I would recommend trying. Many "fusion" restaurants struggle to perfect one type of cuisine, so all of the items suffer. From the taste, toughness, and texture of the raw fish here; I am only assuming that was previously frozen and not fresh. If you are looking for fresh, glistening, melt-in-your-mouth sushi here, then you have come to the wrong place. Most of the rolls were also smashed to the point where they were an oblong/oval shape. The rolls also had barely any rice, which is good for some people, but not for me personally. The nori here is also chewy, to have to chew nori for long periods of time is not only unappetizing, but it does not work well wrapped with raw fish. From now on, if I am in the mood for delicious raw fish sushi, I will be going to Vizen. 2 waters, 2 people eating lunch, and some not so good sushi: $67.00 with tip

Favorite sushi and thai restaurant ever!! Great atmosphere, delicious food, awesome service! Not to mention, their signature martinis are yum (try the lychee or thai coconut!) It's great for birthdays or any occasions and very family oriented. It's definitely a place you have to go to, especially on a weekend.

Came here for dinner after spring training and the sushi is excellent!! We had hot sake and a wide selection of sushi rolls that were amazing! So fresh and absolutely tasty. The spicy stuff had a pretty good punch, the fish nicely prepped literally melted in your mouth, and the veggies that were creatively tossed up on each platter were crisp and clean! The facility is very welcoming with an ambience that addressed the Asian atmosphere giving off that nice japanese comfort of home where you can dine and enjoy good company! This place (aside from Roy's Hawaiian restaurant and Bone Fish) was a regular dining spot for us as we visited during MLB spring training! Definitely a place to check out!!

Fantastic Lychee martini! Go for lunch it is less crowded and hardly ever a wait. They use the freshest ingredients which is obviously very important at a sushi restaurant! Highly recommend.

Boy has this place changed for the worse. We came here many times in the past and enjoyed the food. Now, the menu has been cut by 2/3 and the portions by almost half, although the prices are still the same. Spending $50 for a Chinese dinner for 2 is OK if the food is outstanding, but it isn't any longer. My Ginger Chicken had exactly one slice of ginger in it. Rice was in a pretty cone but only to take up half the plate. My wife's Shrimp and fried rice was very heavy on the rice and light on the shrimp, although the taste was good. The sushi has also become more dear and Nouvelle Cuisine (tiny portion) style. Needless to say, we are not returning soon.

Everything we ordered was good but the sushi is fantastic! The seats next to the window are pretty uncomfortable and tight, that's the only reason for the 4 stars. It's best to call for reservations as the place tends to get packed!

I am not a sushi eater :-) Nope, I don't like it, but there is so much more than sushi at Pacific Rim. I absolutely LOVE their pad thai! I ask for no chicken and more egg and it is like eating food from heaven. The shrimp appetizer and spring rolls are amazing as well. These are the three main things I live on most of the time. However, I do love the garlic beef and dumplings. My husband loves the Texas Roll, fish and everything else they serve. My kids love the fried rice, appetizers and ice cream. Pacific Rim is a great family restaurant.

Sushi is pretty good. Thai food is tasty. I cant quite figure it out but I'm pretty sure the dress code for this place is thick stitched jeans, crystals, uncomfortable shoes, and lots of gel. Either that or the same people walk out the back door and walk back in the front.

Great lunch. Great food. Great service. Best Japanese Thai food in Sarasota. We go there often even though it is not close to our house. Never have been disappointed. A large thumbs up for Pacific Rim!!!!!!!

A friend of mine suggested this place. It was definitely a social gathering point. I immediately thought, "okay, this place must me great". It wasn't. All we were looking for is some tasty sushi. What we got was dry rice wrapped around what could have been a yummy fish, really noisy dinner atmosphere, a long wait, and an overpriced meal. Erg, so disappointed. I hope your experience is better.

Very noisy, kind off run down interior for the level of food being offered (think Chinese take-out). Service is spotty at best. The food is so-so, I had the green curry and beef which, while tasty, had way too much curry for the amount of beef in the dish. Prices seemed a little high for the portion size.

Pacific Rim is a real cool place to check out. Drinks are delicious and the food is good. Service is ok, sometimes it is slow but it is because this place is always jam-packed.

This place has always had excellent food. Service can sometimes be a little slow depending on how busy they get, but overall very great place to eat at.

Would come back here for ambience and decent sushi. Being from DC, I've had many top restaurants to dine at, and this restaurant is one of the best I've found in the area. The music and energy make up for the mediocre entrees and decent sushi. No complaints at all, not a rave review , but I have to say it is good for the limited choices in the area and one of the few places I would bring a visitor.

Nice enough place, but you can get better sushi elsewhere with less attitude. To me, Pacific Rim is more about the hip, trendy atmosphere than about great food. I should say, I've eaten here half a dozen times and never had a bad meal. BUT, I've never walked out raving about how awesome it was either. The staff is courteous, even friendly enough, but there seems to be an undercurrent of pretension about the place. I would agree that Pacific Rim might be a nice place to take a date. A social evening with friends. Maybe. If you want great sushi, however, go down the street to Kazu's for the real deal.

Gabriel and I celebrated our one year anniversary on Thursday so we decided to go have sushi for dinner, in honor of our first date which was also for sushi. There are only a few sushi places in the area that get great reviews, so we decided to try Pacific Rim since it was often talked about as having the best atmosphere of all of them. It is said that you eat with your eyes first, which I absolutely agree with, but beautiful presentation and a nice atmosphere does not make for a great meal in my book, and the food here was definitely lacking. I should also mention, even though I don't like to judge people if I can help it, that the clientele here were on the tacky/Miami side. Many of them dressed in midriff-baring tops, way-too-tight pants and sky-high heels. Definitely not the type that Gabriel and I really like to hang with. Sorry. Maybe not very nice, but I'm just being honest. We were seated, as requested, outside on the pretty side porch. It was really cool later when it started storming and little trickles of water came down the walls like a mini waterfall. Inside was very air conditioned and loud, so we were happy to be outside. The chairs were unusually low but the friendly waitress happily brought out a couple of pillows for us and that made a big difference. We looked over the menus and ordered some edamame, shrimp lettuce wraps and a bottle of unfiltered Nigori sake to start. I must comment that this was the FIRST sake I've ever liked. It was much sweeter than those I have tasted in the past and I was surprised to find that It was very enjoyable for me. The lettuce wraps and edamame came out soon and we noticed the big clump of salt centered on our edamame. The waitress explained that we were to use the extra bowl to cover them and shake them up, but even after doing that it was hard to get the salt to evenly coat the other pods. The lettuce wraps were plated beautifully, but totally over-sauced and the flavor and texture of the shrimp, pear and mushrooms kind of just mushed up together. For our sushi we chose an assortment including; tempura spicy tuna in shitake caps, scallop and avocado handrolls, tamago, shrimp, eel/ cucumber/avocado rolls, salmon sashimi and salmon roe. The tamago, roe and salmon sashimi were excellent but aside from that, I thought the quality was very mediocre and quite pricey. This restaurant clearly goes for appearances first and taste second and as far as I'm concerned, that's not enough to impress me. For 1/4 of the total price we could have gone back to Ichiban for all-you-can-eat sushi and next time, that's most definitely what we will do.

I don't think there is a bette rplace in sarasota to start off a night than Pacific Rim...especially if you are craving sushi. The sushi is pretty fresh but the atmosphere is electric, making it a great start to an evening out (it's across the street for several bars and clubs, also just a quick drive to downtown). The Mt Everest roll is a definate must, best roll on the menu. Others favs include the Typhone roll and the three amigos roll (if you like a little kick). For sashimi I've always had good luck with the white tuna and the hamachi. If you want a quiet hole in the wall then this probably is not the place for you (although there outdoor seating can be quite intimate), but if you want a fun sushi place with good fresh fish, great people watching (staff and patrons), loud music and an manager who is always walking around making sure you are enjoying yourself...then this is your place.

Great place with excellent sushi that can be made to order. The variety of food is amazing from Wok dishes to a Ribeye steak. But if you are coming here you really want the fish. If you want an inexpensive tryout, show up for the Monday through Friday happy hour from 4:30 to 6 and order from the small plate and cocktail menu at four bucks per. The four dollar small plate appetizers are very good but not so for the drinks menu. I enthusiastically endorse the four dollar plates but get your drinks from the regular bar menu. I like to think of this place as an adult restaurant but every so often oblivious parents show up with their screaming children. As a parent myself I really dislike it when this happens. Goodbye ambience. Be warned, the happy hour bar area is small so be there early if you want to get a seat. I suggest for two you order the "small plate" servings of spring rolls, shrimp tempura, and calamari. Even shared these three will fill you up and if I am wrong then add the dumplings. Still hungry? You need to go on a diet.

We thought we would avoid the regular dinner rush that we had often run into, so we arrived at 5:00pm when Pacific Rim was opening for dinner. Our server was very friendly although I believe maybe she was in the back getting ready for the busy evening?? We did not see her much at all. Some of the other servers put SEVERAL orders in for us as well as the hostess while passing etc. I was confused on how to divide up the tip!! As for our dinner....it was okay, a lot of cream cheeses in most the rolls!! We tried some sashimi, a couple of raw rolls along with Pad Thai. The dinner wasn't bad, just not great. I thought my martinis were VERY small for the price, plus most of it was running down the side of the glass, this happened to each one they served. Maybe they need bigger glasses?? Very nice atmosphere, pretty people all dressed up, very swank!! If you like average this could be your spot. Maybe we will have better luck next time. As for next time we went to a birthday party with a table of 8 just a few weeks ago (09/08) and had the best meal ever with excellent service!! And yes my martinis had gotten better, no more running down the side of the glass!! It's always good to give someone a second and third chance, you never know;)

I used to love this place. Very cool decor and the feel is great. Reminds me of being back in Chicago. Wide selection of sushi and they let you create your own sushi too. They have great food, tastes good. The only complaint I have is the service. 3rd time I've been here and each time, the service is terrible. The waitress had an attitude from the moment she came to us. She barely came by our table and didn't supply us with sushi menus, we had to ask other staff walking by each time. I asked her for a pen, our waitress gave me a pencil that was broken. Waitress was not helpful, really ruined my birthday experience. We would of ordered more stuff, but she was never around. I don't think I will ever go back again.

Really great sushi at reasonable prices. Very friendly wait staff and I really enjoyed the outdoor seating. As usual I ordered way too much, but the sign of a great sushi restaurant - I couldn't stop eating :) Would absolutely go back when I'm in town

Reservation was for 7:30 but didn't get seated until after 8. Had a Threes Company and a Ginger Chicken Salad, both were very yummy. Someone in my party went to the restroom and said it smelled like vomit. Restaurant in general was VERY loud due to the number of people they had crammed in there and the music.

I am super picky but i enjoyed our dinner there. Next time we vacation in Sarasota, i will probably agree to go back there. I had the pad thai - i tried so many pad thai's and have been so disappointed until i met this guy! Its so flavorful and balanced in flavor, it was a pleasure. Husband had the Cashew chicken and it was good but there was a lemony taste to it that i didn't understand... do they usually use acid in cashew chicken? We also tried the California rolls and the Florida rolls. The California rolls were very good, i cant say they were the best Ive had but they were good. The Florida rolls need some work done to them, i cant recommend them. NOW FOR THE BEST PART... The Toasted Coconut Ice Cream... OH MY! you need to try this baby. You really NEED to try it. Its amazing! (I would rate them at 3 1/2 stars but since they dont give you that option here i had to go with a 4.)

We've dined at Pacific Rim a two times and were disappointed. The sushi is very good, but the entrees are not. When my husband's meal arrived, we noticed an unusual smell, but since oriental/asian spices often smell unusual, we didn't think much of it. Unfortunately, it tasted bad, too. We sent the meal back. My meal was mediocre (Pineapple Curry with tofu) but it could have been my fault for not ordering the vegetable choice instead of tofu. Not much flavor other than the sauce of the curry. We were also disappointed in the ambiance ( or lack of). It seems this restaurant has become the hang-out for high school and young college age kids and it is very loud and cramped. And there must have been air conditioning issues since it was warm and several fans were set up around the place. We probably will not be going back.

Pacific Rim is a great local place to grab sushi and a special place to Sarasota! My family and I have been going for years, and whenever I am in town I make sure to stop by. I hardly ever get past ordering anything but the sushi, it is so fresh and amazing! You can sit at the sushi bar and watch your rolls being made. Great place to bring friends for drinks as well, the inside and outside seating is trendy. The only downside to Pac Rim is their service, they aren't the friendliest waitstaff in town. Though it doesn't stop me. If they served their rolls on a paper napkin while I am sitting in the dirt I would still eat there!!

My Vietnamese friend recommended this pace to me and I am SO glad I took his advice! I went there for my 21st birthday with my family and it was amazing. Even my grandparents found something there that they liked while I ate the most delicious sushi I've had in Florida. Not only that but the service was amazing, the general manager even came out to wish me a happy birthday and brought sake bombs on the house! The only thing is, the place is ALWAYS packed (naturally) so I definitely recommend that you make reservations, and even then, it'll take awhile. It's not bad though, there's an outdoor bar and seating area that will make you forget that you're waiting. It's all completely worth it!

Went to Pacific Rim on the suggestion of many friends. I am a huge sushi fan, and was excited to eat at the restaurant, as my boyfriend and I we're told only good things. Arrived around 7pm on Fri, Nov 30, 2012, and there was a wait approx 30 mins, so we headed to the bar for a glass of wine, where we ordered two glasses of Argentina wine called Terrazas which was very good. We than were told approx 30 minutes later that our table was ready, and paid our bill at the bar and headed to our 2 seat table on the end of a booth. I ordered the spicy soup as an appetizer to start, and 2 sushi rolls for my entree, and my boyfriend ordered a chicken dish in a curry sauce, and we did order another glass of the Argentinian wine from the bar to share, as we we're driving a distance to get home. The waitress got our drink order wrong, and bought us a French wine which we did not want, and I proceeded to explain to her what the wine was and she returned with the correct wine. This is probably because the music is blasting in the main dining room. I can understand in the bar area, but not during dinner! Dinner and service was great except for the extremely LOUD music playing during dinner which is not necessary between the hours of 6-10pm, since guests are out to dinner to enjoy their conversations, and not having to yell across a table at each other in order to communicate. Please take it from an ex- restaurant manger/ and F&B Director of a Resort in Puerto Rico. The music and lighting should be adjusted as the night progresses, not at the start of dining hours. I actually thought i was in a nightclub my entire dinner experience. The waitress brought us the bill, and I notice that we were being charged for the french wine we did not order, which was $10, and brought it to the waitress's attention, letting her know that we had the same wine at the bar which was $8 a glass and we showed her our bill from the bar and she told the female manager, who came to the table to advise us that the bartender's charged us the wrong price and that it should be $10. Ahhhhh, Helllllooooo, whatever happened to taking care of the Customer, and not throwing the staff under the bus. First of all, we are not paying for a wine on our check that we did not order. Second, the incorrect wine price of $10 should have been voided or comped off of our check, as we did not order it, and it should have been rerung as an open wine key charge of $10, since the female manager was insistent that it was $10...helllloooo, it wasn't even on the wine list, as the bartender explained to me. Unfortunately, it's only a $2 difference, but I know that we should have been charged what we paid at the bar, helllloooo! We unfortunately left a $2 difference in the tip because of the female manager, nothing to do with our server or the service she provided us, because she was very accommodating. The food gets 4 stars, service 4 stars, Atmosphere: extremely Loud techno/ house/ alternative music during dinner, gets 1 star. I'm hopeful that we will give the restaurant a second try, because of the food and service, but until than, I will be searching for a new location to enjoy my sushi quietly, and that means, even if I have to head back occasionally to my favorite sushi restaurant in Boca Raton, Fl to do so.

Had a terrible experience there this evening. Have eaten there many times in the past and had good experiences, but tonight it was terrible. We waited for nearly an hour for our table. I saw several clean tables available for seating so I thought I would ask about sitting at one of them with my party of three. I was told they needed to put glasses on the table and I thought "no problem". Ten minutes later the hostess wanted to sit us right next to the busy front entrance away from the other available tables. I asked for the manager and he offered to sit us right away, but only because we complained about the wait. That is the second time they have not seated us until we complained about the wait. We walked out and will not return. It is obvious this establishment does not need our business. Will tell our friends and family to avoid this over-priced and snobbish restaurant.

First off I have to say the hostesses are amazing! Great friendly greeting, and even went the extra mile to welcome my daughter when we walked in! I really like the sushi we had, I had to have cooked rolls because I'm pregnant, but they were good. I tried the Lava roll (I believe is what it is called) I wasn't crazy about it, the cream cheese made the whole roll feel soggy, if it were deep fried, mmm that would've been good! Also had a special roll which consisted of tempura salmon, cucumber, avocado, rish roe, and spicy mayo! Yummmmm!! There were however, two minuses to this place.. the waitstaff is really really slow, and there is no kids menu. I understand this isn't really a "kid" restaurant, but smaller portions of certain dishes would've been nice!

Pleasant atmosphere, fresh, well-prepared and tasty food, and low- key but friendly service. Try the Bento Box for a mix of soup, salad, tempura seafood and veggies, sushi or sashimi, and rice. One of Sarasota's best restaurants in a neighborhood setting.

If you love sushi you will love pacific rim. However the service leaves alot to be desired. I would say the servers are hired for looks and not attentiveness. If you can deal with that then all will be well. I am not a fan but went with friends who are and they loved it.

Great atmosphere and awesome owners. It's hard to find a restaurant with such dedicated owners. They stop by every table to make sure you are happy. This place goes well beyond the awesome food. It's also about the relationships you make there.

well prepared sushi , atmosphere okay ,its to tight for me ,I need room to move around and mingle . also ,it took to long for our order to come to our table and they gave us the wrong dish, The waiter was rude moments after , because he knew he wasn't getting a good tip from me. I always say"if you cant do it correctly ,just don't bother doing it at all, or do it with a warm smile and be polite . Honey gathers more bees than vinegar

Yum. Love this place. Hip, fun, urban feel. Amazing food. Decent service. Cocktails are creative and well blended. Perfect place to fill up before clubbing, go for a steamy date, or gather with friends. My favorite is the Sashimi dish. The rolls are all unique and lots to choose from. Every noodle dish I've eaten has been fabulous.

Pacific Rim is a great place to go for a reasonably priced dinner of good quality. The menu is varied enough to please people who want anything from Japanese to Chinese to Thai (or something in between), but I second other reviewers who indicate issues with the service. When we went most recently, it took a long time for the waitress to stop by for drink orders, and her attention remained quite scattered throughout. In addition, she got my order wrong; I had ordered the beef with garlic, but received beef with broccoli. I decided to eat it rather than send it back, as I thought it was sufficiently tasty, but it was disappointing to wait so long to order and then to receive something different from what I had asked for. All-in-all, I recommend Pacific Rim, but it's far from flawless. I'll probably be taking it off my must-do list of restaurants in Sarasota.

I usually end up here because it is the most popular place to go for sushi around here. It's a cool, trendy place to go with friends. The martinis are creative and flavorful. However, the sushi lacks a lot of flavor and creativity. The sushi is mediocre simply put. The waitstaff is always predictable and by that I mean their waitstaff definitely would benefit from a proper etiquette class for serving patrons. On my last visit a few days ago, our waitress was no where to be found at first so we waited a good 15 minutes before getting our drinks. We had to ask another waitress where our waitress was ( that waitress look at us like we were crazy and ignored us). From then on, it was downhill. She took a while to take our order. She never asked us once if we were going ok...never checked up on us. I only continue going to PAC rim because it's the SRQ thing to do with your friends. If you want decent sushi, I suggest Bushido in downtown Venice.

While Lava Sushi is excellent, some of the main dishes are so-so. Service people are so busy, it shows they are tired and bored. I like to go there as finally you see there is people in Sarasota... as for the food I like Kazu's creations (on Siestra Drive) more.

The food and service was great. Our waitress actually told us where to go while we were in Sarasota and we took her up on her suggestions and had a great time at the places she referred to us. My favorite thing about this place, the sushi obviousy, but it was a drink that consisted of St. Germainie and leche with basil mint....OMG! The best!

I consider my local Atlanta sushi bar one of the best and am always skeptical when someone starts raving about another sushi restaurant. Naturally, when one my companions told us that we had to go out to Pacific Rim for dinner one evening I was anticipating a mediocre dinner. It only took one bite into our Pacific Rim Poppers to change my mind. I am sure you can get the basic sushi here but the real treat is in their more unusual rolls. I highly recommend the Hawaiian Roll (Shrimp, asparagus, mango and coconut - trust me, it works) and the Firecracker Roll (Salmon, cream cheese, cilantro in a spring roll sheet). Absolutely phenomenal.

Oodles of Noodles (and Sushi, and soups, and salads, and rice, and everything else your Japanese craving stomach could possibly crave). I landed in Sarasota at 5:45pm last night and saw a picture of sushi in an ad at the airport. By 6:30, I had checked into my hotel. By 6:45 I was on Yelp searching sushi. By 7:15 I was at Pacific Rim...on a Monday...waiting in line...behind what looked to be some huge wedding party. Disheartened, hungry, and looking for sympathy, I approached the desk and asked how long for a table for one. Forty to an hour was her answer, but alas, the sushi bar shone from behind her like a beacon of light for a tattered, hungry, tired, soul. On my walk to the bar, I noticed how nice the atmosphere was in the restaurant and how great of a place it would be to go on a date. Intimate lighting and tranquil music make an ideal setting. I ordered the Siam Noodles with Shrimp for 13 dollars and it was unfortunately average. I was looking for a bit more flavor in my meal and unfortunately it didn't happen. Don't get me wrong, it was still quite good, but I've had better for cheaper. The presentation was great and the sushi dishes I saw being delivered made me question my order. I didn't get too much service at the sushi bar, but I guess thats the sushi bar for you. I'd definitely come back for some sushi or fried rice or something else.

Maybe living in San Francisco, I'm a bit spoiled on going out for sushi but on vacation I didn't have many choices. After yelping the local sushi, I found the Pacific Rim and thought I would give it a try. The place itself is really nice with cute little tables, a liquor bar and a super cute little sushi bar as well. I thought I was going to be in for a treat. They had a LOT of rolls to chose from, many unique rolls I've never tried and the presentation was superb. But in the end, the waitress was snobby, the sushi was mediocre, and for what it was... was way over priced for how the food tasted. But it is what it is. It's a nice quaint sushi place in the middle of a touristy town. My main gripe was that if you are going to charge that much for the sushi, the price better well match the quality of the food. It seems that Pacific Rim depends on tourists not knowing any better about really good sushi. If you are used to great sushi, it's ok. If your mom is visiting from out of town and never eaten sushi before, she will be super impressed.

I've been going to Pacific Rim for @ 3 years, and in that time they've improved a LOT. At first, the service ranged from mildly indifferent to downright rude. However, they must have hired new people, because in the last year, it's gotten MUCH better! The quality of food has improved as well. Good meal, good service. It can be hard to get in on a weekend night, though - the hipsters have landed here. But on a weeknight or early on a weekend, can't be beat!

I went with my parents who aren't sushi fans, but I ordered sushi. I thought it was good, not the freshest fanciest sushi I have ever had but fresh and prepared well. I had the futo maki, spicy tuna roll, a piece of eel and 2 pieces of tuna, as well as the ginger salad. All solid, and above average for these pretty typical rolls. I also enjoyed my pomegranate martini, but keep in mind it's $9. My parents enjoyed their miso soup, my Dad loved his steak, he said the wine was not good. (he's a wine connoisseur though) My step Mom liked her curry scallops, though not hot when they made it to the table. She also enjoyed her hot saki. Dad was happy dinner for 3 well under $100. If you are a sushi fan and visiting from out of town (I am, parents are natives) this is a solid option. I will come back with my sushi craving sisters next time we're all here at the same time.

I had a fun birthday dinner at Pacific Rim recently. It took a while to be seated, even with our reservation for 6 on a Saturday night, but I was fine with that because it's fun to be in a place that's buzzing when you're there to celebrate a special occasion! Once we were seated, our waitress was very attentive, efficient and friendly. We were very impressed with her. I am an avid sushi lover and unfortunately, the worst part of the night was the sushi. It was flavorless and just sub par, in my opinion. The best roll we ordered was the caterpillar roll. I would order that again. Otherwise, I was disappointed in the sushi. Definitely a fun, happening place to go out and the people are very nice - service was good. This is also a fun location in Sarasota.

Hidden behind Sarasota Memorial Hospital is a gem of a sushi place. When I was younger Pacific Rim used to be only one room, although nicely decorated, it was on the small side. It was where I first began truly exploring great sushi and I am happy to see years later its not only still around but its gotten better! The service is friendly and fast, the sushi is amazing, seriously it could fare as one of the better places in LA with the quality of the fish, and the decor is still tasteful, even with the expansion to another room as well as a patio. For lunch I enjoyed a scallop salad sushi app and ordered the chef's choice sashimi platter. While it wasn't the most exotic of fare (salmon, yellowtail and maguro) the quality of the fish more than made up for that -- it was like BUTTA. Six pieces of sashimi and It also came with half a california roll, ginger salad and miso soup all for $12.00. My mother had the bento box which came to the table piping hot with scallops and veggies, a half a california roll, spiced rice and pickled vegetables. She also recieved a bowl of miso soup and ginger salad for the same price as mine. It receives five stars alone because all the tasty inspired my mother to try her first sushi ever, the california roll, and she liked it! Well, we all know it's downhill from there right?? I could see this as a great place to have a "treat" lunch with the gals or a nice date as well.

I've been to Pacific Rim on a number of occasions, but the best time to go is for lunch. At night, the place takes on a wannabe SoBe persona and during the daytime it's light, fresh, and the quality of the food and service is far superior. The sushi menu is extensive, offering the usual and the very unusual, and definitely sample a taste of both because you'll be pleasantly surprised. There are the other menu items that are just as good as the sushi and among my favorites including the fresh spring rolls, any of the tofu dishes, and the tempura is just right. When you think of Sarasota cuisine, sushi doesn't immediately come to mind but it should because the Rim is a good spot that has clearly stood the test of time.

Good quailty sushi and at a reasonable price. The inside gets really crowded, so I would recommend a reservation. Actaully the outside is really not that bad, kind of cool and not too hot, so I would recommend taking the outside seats versuses waiting. They should try putting some misters out there.

First of all, I truly can't believe that Pac Rim doesn't have 5 stars! It is not only the best sushi restaurant in Sarasota, it is the best restaurant in Sarasota and the best sushi restaurant I have ever been to! And I eat a lot of sushi! Not only is the food delicious, it is well priced and highly quality! More often than not, sushi restaurants offer less than choice and less than fresh fish, but not Pac Rim! In fact, I have seem them filleting huge tuna for the evening! Thy have a huge variety of rolls along with a full kitchen (pad thai, appetizers, fish entrees, spring rolls, etc). The atmosphere is fantastic, they have a great bar menu and music on weekend evenings. The manager, Veth, frequently brings complimentary drinks or apps to your table, without being provoked - he's so generous! I live in Miami, but whenever I visit my family in Sarasota, even if only for a few days, I make it a point to go to Pac Rim with my friends. Ask anyone in Sarasota, or nearby, Pac Rim is the best!

We've eaten here two times in two years and both times ask ourselves why we do not go here more often. Pacific Rim is located in a small strip mall near the Sarasota Memorial Hospital and in a small shopping/restaurant district. The atmosphere is up scale Chinese with a Sushi bar. The food is wonderful, but the service is a little slow. The hostesses and the bartender show that the owner has an eye for good looking women. All the food we had was excellent.

Pretty good place, tasty. You can eat inside or out. Sushi was good, meals were pretty good. Trendy decor.

Attmosphere very good; food average; service awful. The bar was out of Dewars and J&B....that's a sign that they may not be there when you read this. The food was adequate...sushi served beautifully, but overpriced....salmon sashimi had a bone still in, tuna slices (chirashi) weren't slice thru. Waitress was not to be found...had to flag down anyone we could to get anything. There are lots of better Sushi places in Sarasota...I'd skip Pacific Rim....we won't be going back (and we live here).

My wife and I have enjoyed sushi and Asian cuisine throughout the world. We've had the special pleasure of eating sushi within blocks of the famed Tsujiki Fish Market in Toyko, Japan which, hopefully, gives us some credibility as foodies. Pacific Rim really wowed us. We've eaten here in the past, but we had such a nice time last night that I felt it was necessary to jot down a little review. Love the decor. Fire and ice. Yin and Yang. Creative and fun. Just love it. And of course the food was remarkable. The Tom Yum soup better than our favorite Thai restaurant (and on par with our Thailand experience). The soup was just the right balance of flavors. Not too impressed with the ginger salad, but it is only iceberg lettuce and ginger dressing after all. The springrolls were excellent, however the Panang sauce which comes with it felt a little heavy. And of course the sushi was amazing. We took the plunge and splurged on the $10/each Toro tuna sashimi. Just do it. You'll never forget its succulent, creamy texture. All of our other items were expertly prepared and on par with our Japan experience. Bravo. For the brave you may want to consider ordering a single quail egg over sticky rice. Flying fish roe also was of very high quality. Overall an excellent experience. There are few restaurants I've reviewed this highly. Worth every penny.

ahh you know I really liked this place but the prices were just so high it was hard to fully enjoy it The service was good the 1st time I went, but the 2nd time the waiter was very rude in my opinion. Give it a shot, maybe you'll like it but im not crazy about it.

We have eaten here twice during our stay in Sarasota. Both times we ate Sushi and were very pleased. Our friends ordered off the menu and both couples said they would definitly return. It does get crowded after 6:30 and I don't think they take reservations.

The main reason I wanted to write this review is to clear up the misconception that this place is good for kids. It's not! Yes, the staff is friendly and yeah the atmosphere is noisy enough that a loud child won't bother anyone. But those things alone do not make a place good for kids. For a place to be good for kids they have to have something for them to eat! There is no children's menu here and none of what's on the regular menu is particularly appropriate for kids. On top of this there is no ketchup or more importantly milk! Do not bring small children here there is nothing for them to eat and aside from water nothing for them to drink unless you want to give your youngster pop tea. The food it self is okay but I've had much better. This place really isn't worth going too.

I'm a lover of sushi and Asian cuisine. Pacific Rim is known for its wonderful array of sushi. Each sushi has it's own unique blend of flavors, with its quality of fish, and killer taste. The place is usually packed, with good reason, it's just that good. The service is friendly, and can be a bit of wait, but it is well worth it.
