We ate at the Lagacy Grill the other night and I thought it was great. I loved the little video game area for kids and sports on the TV. I had a burger and fries and they were great. My husband had the prime rib and said it was fantastic. It has a very pleasant environment and nice people working there. It was very clean and we will be returning.

Harry's has been open in this spot for awhile and is a great family place to go to watch the game. Local owner has other restaurants in Sarasota. Good casual place to eat. food is good and The service is friendly and attentive.

The entire "bar and grill" genre is crowded with plenty of nearly indistinguishable spots all offering similar menus. In Sarasota if you're craving a burger you have numerous satisfying if unspectacular options like Chili's, Applebees, Cheeburger Cheeburger, Ale House, etc. With that said it wouldn't take much for a new establishment to make a name for itself by bringing something new to the table. I'm sad to say that Legacy Bar and Grill (Formerly Big Al's) not only fails at presenting any semblance of a unique dining experience, but pretty much fails at everything else as well. The first thing you notice when you enter is the drab redecoration the place has gone through. You would think that since the place was under new ownership it might have received a minor upgrade, but if anything it looks like the atmosphere has regressed. Sure there's a lot of TVs but I couldn't shake the feeling that I was dining in a sports bar version of Perkins. I'm not a picky guy and atmosphere usually ranks lowest on my scale of importance but the place looks downright skeevy. I'm also not a stickler when it comes to service but Legacy came up short in this department as well. Our server would intermittently disappear and seemed to have no idea what was gong on whatsoever. My dad wanted to try the calamari appetizer but was told that if he wanted to order it he'd have to wait 15 minutes because it had "just arrived on the truck". The menu has a strong variety but nothing unique that I had to try. The appetizers feature standard fare like quesadillas, seared ahi, nachos, etc. The rest of the menu has a mixed bag of pasta dishes, burgers, seafood, and sandwiches, but nothing you couldn't find anywhere else. It looked like a "Best Of" menu made up of random selections from other restaurants. I got the quesadilla appetizer and the patty melt with sweet potato fries. While my food wasn't bad by any means, it was the very definition of generic. Everybody else in my party shared my sentiments about the place. I won't be going back and I wouldn't be surprised to see the place go under in the next couple months.

Skeevie, sketchy staff and management. Credit card slip was doctored - management was accusatory of ME. No apology - not worth the money I intentionally spent. This place is nothing special - go somewhere like king George's pub in Gulf gate or head to Shakespeare's if you want something tasty with good honest business sense. Seriously - stay away, bad news!!

Food and service were ok (5/27/11). Well, until I checked my credit card statement. Bill was 27.24 and left a $6 tip. Accidentally I put down the wrong total (13.24), obviously wrong. The server (Deana) apparently took advantage of this by making the $6 tip into $16 and doctoring the total to 44.24. I went to look- the pen marks were heavier than mine. The manager refunded the $10, but never apologized. In fact, her attitude was clearly that it was my error. I will never go back. You should be careful there... Check your statement. Dishonest staff and defensive management.
