Sandwiches good but service dreadful. Waited almost 45 minutes from ordering for our food to come out.. During that time the waitress didn't come back once to offer drinks refills or check on us . It was a non busy lunchtime and everyone was complaining. Wait staff was apologetic but this former gem in a new location needs to step up the kitchen quickly. If you are reading older reviews make sure that they are not for the former location.

Rosie's is a great place to get away from the touristy crowds and get a good meal. My husband and I ate there several times on our visit to the island this year. The service was good and it was a relaxing experience. We ate there a total of three times and the food and service was great all three times. Stop by for their great ice cream, too! Yummy!

We had to wait over 40 minutes for our food when they didn't seem very busy, and they failed to mention they were out of some sides and didn't ask what we would like to substitute. Grouper sandwich was about as good as any fried sandwich from Burger King and the server who barely helped us and didn't even try to be polite added a 20% tip for herself. I would have given her none! We do not recommend!

What would vacation mornings be without Rosie's? My brother would walk down from our hotel every morning to get breakfast! Usually a burrito. Most mornings I would go with him. The staff there is always SO nice, and helpful, and are not shy about striking up a conversation with you! Love, love, love Rosie's!

My favorite place on the island! I love the grouper Reuben when it's on special. Also try the buffalo shrimp and beach bread. Al is such a great server, fast and his recommendations are spot on!! I love this place and all the staff!!!

Don't miss this great cafe which is just a turn off the main drag. The service was exceptional and the chef/owner could not have been friendlier, and all during one of the busiest weeks of the year. We had a very enjoyable breakfast, the pancakes were loaded with blueberries. Really good food at reasonable prices, fun music in a cheerful, non-cramped space... island easy...

Rosie moved to this other end of the island and I'm glad to have found her. Have only had one meal but it was very good. Both the breakfast sandwich and the breakfast burrito were simple but excellent. A cran orange muffin was outstanding. Will be going back to sample the ice cream that looked (and I was told) superb.

We were so happy to find that Rosie's, which used to be on the Lighthouse end of the island, has been reincarnated as a full-service restaurant on Palm Ridge (also with an ice cream bar). They have the wonderful ice cream that you may remember from before, as well as the great Cuban sandwiches, but they have added much, much more. Really fresh salads and a nice array of sandwiches. They have two versions of Reuben -- both excellent. And the homemade potato chips served with the sandwiches are heavenly! Of course, they serve breakfast and dinner, too. Excellent breakfasts. I haven't had dinner here yet. But the ice cream! Not to be missed.

Went to Rosie's for breakfast. No cars on lot. Bad sign one. Walked in and no one ever came to seat us so we left. The sign clearly was on "OPEN" but there was not one around, not even any servers. We could hear voices and yelled for someone but no one ever acknowledged us. Unfortunately, they wont be in business long. I suggest try this one at your own risk.

Fabulous! Started off with the Crab Dip which we thought we might take home leftovers - nope! Lapped it all up! Two of us had the Crab Crusted Grouper which was excellent - the grouper was expertly prepared. A Caribbean flavor but oh so delicious! Hubby had the night special of Alaskan King Crab legs and loved it. House made bread with yummy dipping oil. And you get a huge scoop of ice cream with dinner - a wide array of flavors! Our server from Massachusetts was friendly, knowledgeable and service was spot on. We will definitely come back!

Husband and I went here for breakfast on a whim and I am glad we did. The waitress was great, I think she may have been the only one, but she was awesome and had a great personality. I had the grilled cheese breakfast sandwich, consists of scrambled egg, hash browns and cheese, lots of melted cheese! Yummy, it was wicked good and I would definitely get again. My husband has the crunchy French toast and said it was good. We both had coffee and it was nice and strong. I definitely recommend this hidden gem!

My wife and her friend had the coconut pineapple pancakes for breakfast on a Saturday morning. I am not a huge pancake fan, as most are doughy and chewy. Rosie's coconut pineapple pancakes perfectly balance coconut and chunks of pineapple. Hot off the griddle, crunchy on the outside, and moist & fluffy on the inside. These tropical pancakes score a 10 out of 10. Also think the coffee was above average. Not bitter like so many restaurants serve. Sometimes service here can be a bit slow. But if you're looking for a leisurely breakfast without the typical Sanibel noisy family crowds, that can work to your advantage.

Three stars for the food, five for ice cream. My husband ordered the seafood platter. He loved the calamari, scallops and shrimp, but was not a fan of the mahi at all. I ordered the veggie burger wrap. The veggie burger is house made, which I appreciate. I customized it as I wanted. I got sweet potato fries with it. The waited didn't know much about this menu item and had to go ask a few times. Not a big deal. Maybe he was new. The wrap came out not as I expected. It was grilled down like a panini. It was impossible to eat because it was really messy and a little wet, dropping out of the tortilla. I ended up eating it with a fork. It was really good! I think it should be served on a bun. The coating of the sweet potato fries tasted a little odd. Not sure what it was but I wasn't a big fan. We both got ice cream. They make the ice cream here and have unique flavors. This is a hidden gem!! We liked it better than the famous Pinocchio's! Their flavors are so unique. We had some I hadn't heard of. The "gator tracks" was our favorite. Yum! While there are a few changes I'd like to see with the food, it was enjoyable overall, and the ice cream was tops. We'd visit again.

Food was awesome!!! I had the plantain encrusted grouper over piña colada rice. Wow!!!! Great flavor. The ice cream is phenomenal too. We had the death by peanut butter, cookies and cream, southern pecan delight and the dark chocolate. All delicious. This is the best place that we have eaten on the island so far. Parking lot empty but is was great. Don't be discouraged.

Wonderful lunch and gracious service makes Rosie's deserve 5 stars. Our server was simply fantastic and made great suggestions. His name was Bolten and he made sure we were happy with our meals. Great Onion rings which my husband craves. Grouper was pwrfect choice and the blue bacon burger was just perfectly cooked. Will return! And the even have great carry out meals too!

First time to visit. Four for lunch and started with three soups and each excellent. Fresh salads with good dressings. Ice cream choices many and homemade. Excellent. Will return again to try for breakfast or dinner.

OK all of you gluttons, if mass quantities of barely average food is your desire, then head to Rosie's. I got the grouper stuffed with crabmeat, served with soggy plantains, and a bunch of wet, greasy rice and veggies. It was a plate full, and I mean full, of sloppy, messy unidentifiable food. This place was only one-third full on a Wednesday evening for a reason. Not to mention the loud mouth blonde sitting at the bar with her voice reverberating throughout the room. Go for the ice cream, 4 star goodness.

I don't know who is giving this place high reviews. We went in for lunch and no one was there. Should have left then but we were in a hurry. There was only one other table being served and service was still slow. The BBQ pork sandwich tastes burnt. I ordered sweet potato fries and they took so long the editor brought our food and then the fries 5 minutes later. They still tasted raw. Disappointed with out decision to go here

While some of the food was good, the price was very high for the low level of service received. The food came out sporadically - we had a group of 8 people for dinner, and a few of the meals came out 10-12 minutes after the other meals. The restaurant was completely out of rice. The entrees were $25-$35, but only worth about $10-$15. Although the entrees did include a salad and a scoop of (mediocre) ice cream, I still felt it was high. The decor was very casual and a little tacky - turquoise booths leftover from the prior owner, paper napkins, etc. Nothing horrible, but not what I expect for a $30 meal. If you decide to go, have the plantain-encrusted grouper or mild buffalo shrimp. They were our two favorite dishes.

On Sanibel/Captivating this is one of the best lunch spots. Avoid the crowds at the understaffed Cheeburger. They have better burgers here and some of the freshest fish and shrimp around. The Ice Cream and Deserts are top notch. Kids do well here too. Good sized kids menu, great staff. Normal volume music as well means you can have a conversation while admiring the decor, photos and porch.

We were a little worried when we pulled into an empty parking lot at dinner time but the food here is absolutely delicious! The ingredients were all fresh and our meals were cooked and seasoned to perfection.

Excellent menu with many tempting choices. We ate here for lunch and really enjoyed it. The Caribbean chicken sandwich was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Also, best French fries on Sanibel, hands down. No question. I grabbed the take-out menu and am already thinking about my next meal there.

Came here based on the reviews, and I have to say it was really solid. Simple, tasty food with a pretty wide variety for all tastes. Had crab cakes, and their special of the day, half a duck. The duck was sublime, and the crab cake was very good, not too much breading. As a bonus, there is a nice cream shop attached to the restaurant and their selection is tasty too, try blueberry cobbler.

An excellent addition to the Sanibel dining scene! Crispy grouper fingers and Philly cheese steak......yum, yum yum. Friendly and quick service, great outdoor seating - give it a go!

Perfect stop on our tandem bike ride from Captiva to Sanibel. Had the orange pineapple ice cream in the small waffle cone, cone was plenty large for one person. Only bummer is they can't guarantee that all ice cream was made in a nut free environment.

My partner and I have been coming to Sanibel for years, but always stuck to our good usual spots. This time, his cousin joined us on a Sanibel jaunt for the first time, so we wanted to try somewhere new for lunch. We arrived and there were a few tables eating. We were seated promptly and warmly greeted. The menu was short, sweet and contained some good sounding entries. Our waitress advised us of our specials and gave us a few minutes. Between the three of us, we ordered a chicken tender plate, a grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and a Philly steak sandwich. The chicken tenders were just lightly breaded and very thick pieces. The chicken sandwich was seasoned well and on a nice, fresh kaiser roll. The sweet potato fries were very delicious, unlike any I had ever tasted. They were cooked well and had a hint of cinnamon. This was how sweet potato fries should be made. The Philly steak was flavored well and tasted more like a steak you order as dinner, which was a nice surprise. It was able to hold the flavor better. It was served with regular fries, which were hand cut. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The prices were very reasonable, especially for Sanibel. This is a definite addition to the list of regular stops.

Every year, my family goes to Sanibel in August. We have our usual standby restaurants that we go to every year, but this year we decided to try a new place. We were looking for an inexpensive dinner, which is hard to come by on the island. The outside of Rosie's is what drew me in. It looked very quaint and inviting. Inside has the same homey feel. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. I ordered the fish tacos and my husband had the shrimp po-boy. I thought my tacos were good, but nothing fabulous. They were lacking some seasoning. My husband liked his po-boy, but again, it didn't knock his socks off. Where Rosie's really stands out is their ice cream. They have a great selection of homemade ice cream, and you get a generous 3 scoops in the small. You can even choose three different flavors. We had rocky road, cherry vanilla and cinnamon caramel pecan. Every flavor was delicious. I would definitely recommend stopping here for ice cream or dessert. They also have a great selection of cakes and key lime pie!

Wanted quick, causal lunch and Rosie's fit the bill. We sat down immediately at about 1:20. Teens had grilled cheese and house made kettle chips. Chips were okay. One mom had salad. It was fine, the balsamic dressing was not excellent. Other mom had Caribbean chicken sandwich and it was good. Fries that came with it were excellent!
