The evening got off to a shaky start as the waitress seemed a little abrasive but after we got to know her better and our similar British backgrounds kicked in she proved to be knowledgeable, attentive and honest. We were a party of eight and all had a good meal. My wife and I had the crab cakes and they were delicious. Others had the salmon, duck and steak and were equally impressed. The bar had a good selection of craft beer on tap which also proved a hit to our party. The location is a little off the beaten path and it's not a huge place but worth a visit.

This is a cute lunch spot on the island. I am sure the breakfast is yummy too. We came for a real late lunch, so it was not busy but service and food was great! I love crab cakes and have made it a point to try any crab cake I come across. So I ordered the Mediterranean salad and asked if I could have a crab cake (which is only listed as an appetizer) on top of the salad instead of chicken, salmon or shrimp. They were more than happy to accommodate my request. It was a good crab cake but not one of the best in the area that I have had. My husband liked his cobb salad. The sweet potato fries and wings were also good. Everything was good but not exceptional. We were happy that they have a full bar too unlike a few of the Sanibel lunch spots we have visited. So we will definitely come back when spending a morning at the beach nearby. It is definitley worth a try when in the area.

We decided to try this little place and were pleasantly surprised. The server Michelle was very nice and attentive . The soup according to my friend was great. I ordered the paella and it was pretty good. The bill was very reasonable , I think $55 with tip. It's a cute little place and worth a visit

Had a delicious lunch at blue giraffe, and the service was also fantastic! I had the fried grouper Reuben and substituted american cheese for the swiss. It comes on delicious toasted rye bread with a yummy tropical cole slaw that has pineapples in it. On the side I highly highly recommend the sweet potato fries which were the best I've ever eaten and not greasy one bit! For dessert we enjoyed the chocolate cake. Yum!!

The food was DELICIOUS! Our server recommended we try any of the notated signature items. I had the crispy Thai fish wrap. So good! My son had the hot dog and he said it was one of the best because the bread was fresh. Come on parents- we know that kids meals are typically second thought. My husband had the shrimp and chips. Excellent also. They use fresh seafood and clean oil to fry with. It makes a difference. The bread served with dinner was a roasted garlic and oil. Yummy! My son gave it 5 stars and asked if we could find one at home. I did not give 5 stars because it is a little small and the A/C kept dripping on me. But no biggie, I just moved the table.

We ate dinner here after our 22 hour drive. We enjoyed everything, but I can't say that we remember too much about it. We came back to today for dessert. We had the coconut layer cake and the key lime cheesecake. A beautiful presentation and some of the most delicious cakes I've ever had. Don't miss

This is our go-to place for dessert when on Sanibel. Love the atmosphere, fun decor, and service is always friendly and fast, even late. We had icecream- vanilla and black cherry, key lime pie, the cinnamon apple puff, and....I know it's strange, but I had to have a cup of clam chowder- best on the island!!! Everything was perfect as usual.

We brought a large family. A ordered various things. I ordered the blackened grouper (at market price -which ended up being $24.99!!!) - I had Mahi the night before at another local restaurant that was only $17 and a much nicer piece of fish. The fish smelled bad when it came out. The texture was off and it tasted horrible. When I told the server I wasn't happy with it, he just took my plate. Not offering to reduce the fee, exchange my food out. Nothing. Service was slow. Granted we had a large party. Not a place I would recommend or ever go back too.

The place was dead when we went. The food was mediocre at best. The staff was lovely... but again it was dead. Just not impressed with atmosphere or food.... will bypass next time.

My husband and I had dinner last night. He ordered the crab stuffed salmon I got the NY strip. As you can see my other reviews on Yep are extremely fair. So here we go..... Restaurant def has a greasy diner appeal to it. We sat outside. I had two drinks while we were there. Tequila Sunrise and Harvey Wallbanger. 4 stars on drinks :) Appetizer was a crab cake over slaw with 3 sauces. Sauces were nice .... All distinctively different. The crab cake was way hard on the outside. Was def deep fried and greasy. Husband agrees. His crab stuffed salmon was really fresh and the rice was great. My NY strip was not. I ordered medium it was almost well done. Mashed potatoes was a half moon from an ice cream cream scoop. Tacky. Caesar salad came out with my meal so that was kinda annoying but I can deal with it. The salad was warm and wilty like it was sitting under a heat lamp. Just disappointed. Would have spoke with the manager but already had a feeling we were being bothersome just by being there. Oh and there were only 3 other tables dining while we were so they weren't slammed. Try Island Cow food and service was great tonight!

Good overall, not outstanding. Need better a/c as it was hot inside. In a very nice, beautifully landscaped complex. Nice people it seemed. 2 adults and 2 kids ate - had coconut shrimp - very good and recommended. Polynesian boat of a pineapple with chicken salad was good also. Kids got a burger, fish fingers kids meals - just ok. Sides were fair. Good for price and overall.

Great food, friendly staff, delicious hefty portions, fun atmosphere, jump on over there for an excellent meal. Fun atmosphere seeing all the giraffes inside

Honestly, I picked this restaurant because I like giraffes. The food was good but not omg great But on a good note, they pour large glasses of wine! Great friendly service.

Stopped in for a late lunch. We were seated right away and our waiter was very friendly. My wife's garden salad with a crab cake was very good. The produce was fresh and the crab cake was full of crab, not fluff. My Thai fish wrap was just OK but the sweet potato fries were good.

    (4)
  • Allen T.

Just stop. Don't do it. The food is edible but it is so incredibly bland and overpriced. I have never eaten anywhere else on this island but there has to be better places. The only saving grace from a 1 star was the key lime pie. It was incredible

  • William S.

We stopped in for a late morning quick bite. The place has a cute outside eating area that was just great. I ordered the cajun hash and it was absolutely great. Extremely tasty and filling. I'd order it again in a second. My wife and I were very happy with our food. She had an omelette. Our service was less than stellar. Our waiter seemed preoccupied. We waited and waited for refills. We had other needs that waited for attention. At one point our waiter left the premises and came back talking on his cellphone while we waited. It's obvious he had some personal issues to attend to. Unfortunately, it caused his service to suffer. All in all our experience was a positive one and we would return if we're in the area.

  • Live Life L.

Decor of the place is all giraffes, our server was pleasant enough, but the food was average. Was expecting a little more taste and quality for the money.

    (3)
  • Liz C.

The service here was great. Our waiter was really attentive and gave us samples and suggestions for beer. The burgers were okay. They tasted like frozen patties but the accoutrements were good. The menu seemed to have a nice selection of food. Good for a casual place to grab lunch.

    (3)
  • Sam C.

I'm going to keep this short as it was a bad dining experience. We expected much more for averaging $20 per entree as it tasted like were eating food from a hole in the wall diner in the middle of nowhere. The food is straight from the cisco truck into the microwave and onto the plates.

  • Jay H.

We dined at Blue Giraffe for the first time with our extended family. Everyone really liked their meal. Grouper & mussels, fish & chips, and the stuffed grouper were great. The service was fair and the atmosphere was typical island casual. The cost was typical for Sanibel-- a bit pricey for what you get. We would go back for a casual seafood dinner.

    (4)
  • Mauresa S.

They have great food! They have very rich Alfredo sauce. They also have a lot of great seafood options!

    (4)
  • Ashley G.

We were very hungry leaving Sanibel, and happened upon the Blue Giraffe. The atmosphere was nice as we walked in; however, the service was very poor and the food tasted of old microwaved hot pockets. We contemplated standing outside and warning others as they walked by. All in all, awful place.

  • Susan C.

My son, husband and I came for breakfast but were a minute too late so we had to order lunch instead. Right away, I am unhappy because who can eat lunch at 11??? Anyway, I ordered the clam chowder which was oddly seasoned.....my husband had the club sandwich which was pretty good and my son had the Po Boy sandwich which he liked. We ate outside on a beautiful sunny day and we were in Sanibel...so all was good.

  • Courtney G.

I wouldn't even give this place 1 star. Horrible service, and over-priced, bland food. The hostess was unwelcoming, and barely said anything to us. Our waiter found it more important to text on his phone, or sit and eat with the other employees. It felt like we were bothering them from the moment we walked in. I went there hoping to have a great birthday dinner, and was very disappointed. The employees clearly hate their jobs, which is unfortunate. There are WAY better restaurants in the area, with great service. I definitely will never go back.

    (1)
  • Clive R.

Not busy, not a good sign. We gave the place a chance but not impressed. Service good but we were part of 4 tables occupied. Food sounded very appetizing from the menu. We were mistaken. Pricing ok. Will not return.

Should have gone to Island Cow. Most restaurants that served breakfast on Sunday were packed with 20 minute waits. We found this place which was 3/4 empty. Should have known better! We walked in a bit before noon 11:40 and they advertise late breakfast (til 12) We stood at the door for about 5 minutes while servers played and ignored us. After 2 people telling us 'be right with you' another server finally seated us. She asked if we wanted a breakfast or lunch menu, we said breakfast. She then warned us in a scolding tone "then you better order fast because we stop serving breakfast at noon" We ended up ordering lunch items. I chose a fish wrap that was supposed to be in a black bean wrap. When it finally arrived, (the place was NOT busy) it was in a tomato wrap laying on a bed of 3 day old shredded BROWN lettuce. I told the 'delivery guy' (as it was not the server) that it was in the wrong wrap and the lettuce was inferior. He walked away perplexed and went on about his business bussing tables etc. He never reported my issue to the server or anyone else. When I finally got hte servers attention, he told me that they haven't had black bean wraps for 2 years. UHHH then FIX THE MENU??? They took my plate back and removed the rotting lettuce and delivered the same plate back to me. The manager then came over and when I itemized all the issues, he offered 15% off the check! PLEASE. 15%?? A decent restaurant wouldn't have charged me for the order at all. This place wont be there next season

Quiche & Caesar salad is inexpensive, filling, and fresh. Group & family-friendly, we enjoyed our visit with a 2-month old and her big sister, age 2 1/2.

We went to The Island Cow last night at 7:30 pm and were told to expect a 40-minute wait and handed a beeper. After shivering in the cold for a few minutes, we turned the beeper back in and decided to look for another alternative. And thus we found The Blue Giraffe. This place was very bright and clean inside and full of giraffes of all sorts. The staff were very friendly and casual. The reason i'm only giving it three stars is that the food was fine but not anything special. (My husband had a hamburger, and I had a shrimp basket.). Still, it was warm and welcoming on a cold, windy night, and we were very grateful for that.

  • Curt P.

Service was excellent, very friendly even at one hour before closing time. Did some research before going, read some questionable reviews but decided to see for ourselves and we were not disappointed. Great casual dining.

The food was very good and had that homemade feel. The service was excellent. Best crab cakes I have had in awhile. Definitely I will recommend this place to my friends.

  • Rich H.

Stopped by for lunch today. I was amazed at the $2.65 charge for Ice Tea, no liquor being available (wine based cocktails only). I ordered the Fish & Chips. What I got was a dried out, sort of sickly looking piece of something that was not tasty, way too dry and too expensive at $16. This is easily the worst fish & chips I have had anywhere near here and I certainly wouldn't have expected that at a Sanibel restaurant. Won't be hurrying back here! My wife had a fish dish ... pretty unremarkable! But better than what I had.

    (2)
  • Kai P.

Blue Giraffe had excellent food and service. Loved the grouper and chowder. Bit on the pricy side.

    (3)
  • Katie W.

The taco salad was amazing. The chips are the super good homemade kind, not something from a bag. Also, the keylime pie tastes really tart & fresh. Great lunch!

  • Jessica L.

Clean and nice. Service was excellent. Got the wasabi crab cake appetizer, came on a bed of Thai slaw. Crab cake was mostly crab, not doughy very tasty with a crisp outside and soft inside. We got the roasted duck sandwich and the Thai fish wrap. Both were excellent. The Thai fish wrap was made with a very high quality piece of crispy cod. The Thai slaw was moderately spicy but the sweetness of the grilled pineapple complemented it and cooled the burn. Get the homemade potato chips they're great, no reason to pay extra for fries. My only complaint was that they put celery seed in the tropical coleslaw, which I'm not a fan of. Great place.

  • Michael C.

We were doing some shopping in the area and decided to stop in and try the Blue Giraffe. I had the classic turkey bacon club on toasted wheat bread with a side of fries. The sandwich was very good with fresh tomatoe and thick deli sliced turkey. Service was exceptional. Will definitely head back here again.

Visiting Sanibel for the day I went to Yelp and decided to give it try. My wife & I started with New England Clam Chowder: flavorful & hearty. Yes they did put celery in it but found the overall taste outstanding. My wife had a Spinach Salad with grilled shrimp & I a Greek Salad with grilled shrimp. Both salads had 5 large shrimp cooked perfectly. My salad was outstanding. Service was attentive and friendly. This a a casual restaurant with a large menu. My wife and I shared a key lime cheesecake which was large and tasted delicious. Definitely will return . We dropped by @ 3pm on a Monday.

The Blue Giraffe is a refreshing little cafe nestled within the Periwinkle Shoppes and for a casual lunch it is worth going to. Rusty was our waiter and he was great. The decor is very Island Casual with a hint of humor that is seen with Giraffe Statues casually placed throughout the cafe. A beautiful panoramic window invites you into the Tropical Verandah outside. I had the New England Clam Chowder, or White Chowder, as Rusty called it. To me it tasted more like a potato chowder then a clam chowder, but, it was still good. I highly recommend the Thai Fish Wrap- two generous size Bean wraps engulf crisp pieces of grouper that are fried to perfection, along with. Thai style cole slaw and chunks of tropical pineapple . The star is the creamy peanut Thai sauce that is to die for and I wish I had the recipe! I ordered sweet potato fries for a small extra price. Delicious lunch, filling, and you will not be disappointed!

Unpretentious and basic food. Nothing fancy just good quality food. We had a crab cake burgers, veggie Napoleon, salmon and a regular burger. Everything was really fresh and delicious. Reasonably priced and casual atmosphere. Very family friendly. Would go back

We were looking for Cip's after giving up on the long wait at Island Cow -- but ended up in the parking lot for Blue Giraffe. Nothing to rave about, but adequate for a night when we wanted a light meal. I had a Cobb salad and a glass of wine; DH opted for a basic hamburger and beer. My Cobb salad had all the ingredients of a typical Cobb, but the presentation was more like a regular tossed salad. The chicken was a rather tasteless breast plopped in the center of the salad. Portions of bacon, avocado, and tomato were minimal. Some tempting desserts, but a very large scoop of Edy's (Dreyer's to West Coast pals) mint chocolate chip ice cream was a good conclusion to the meal. Service was very slow, but it was explained that our waitress was "stuck" with a table on the patio. Not sure exactly what that meant ... Okay ... but will not go out of our way to return,

  • Christopher L.

The Blue Giraffe serves a very nice good lunch in an atmosphere that is laid back and comfortable. It is kid friendly and the service is very good. The clam chowder was a highlight as were the Thai Fish Wrap and the Veggie Burger. The chowder was rich and creamy, though it could have gone lighter on the celery, which is rarely good in soup, but certainly not in the abundance we found in the chowder at Blue Giraffe. Despite that, the chowder had a slightly smokey flavor that was very good. The Thai Fish Wrap had fried cod, which was light and flakey, not at all greasy. Highly recommended. The Veggie Burger my wife had was served with sautéed onions and guacamole. She really enjoyed it. One of the highlights of the Blue Giraffe is the number of strong vegetarian options they have. Well worth a visit for lunch when on Sanibel Island.

Blah. Food is forgettable. I can barely remember what I ordered. Oh yeah - fried shrimp, which was blah. Sweet potato fries were good. Flat bread pizza thing was not so hot.

Great food, lots of yummy choices and exceptional service! Great island atmosphere. Don't miss this great restaurant while in Sanibel. Plus it's located in periwinkle place which has great local shops to explore.

Wife had the duck confit salad was awesome, I had 1/2 pound burger was super good. Patty really liked the decor...

    (5)
  • Rory L.

The seafood is really great but the duck not so yummy. Some sandwiches are dryer than others but the Thai one is amazing as is the fish. Fish and chips for the kids went over great as well as amazing sweet potato fries. I have the clam appetizer with garlic bread and it was really great. The outside seating is really nice and we had very attentive waiters. Over all it was a good experience. A bonus is their deserts!

    (4)
  • Kathleen F.

Salad had rotten lettuce. There is a grilled grouper sandwich on the menu but they wouldn't serve the grouper Reuben with it only fried . Service wasn't very good. Wouldn't go there again

Bringing hungry grandkids to Sanibel, what better place to feed them but the Blue Giraffe? Wrong! Arriving later than the usual lunch hour our party of 5 was told it would be 35 minutes before we could get a table inside. But we were offered a table outside. Sadly, we took it. The kids wanted milk. No milk, just lots of sugar-heavy carbonated drinks. The kids wanted wings. No wings. We endured a meal of indifferently served mediocre food. What kind of restaurant runs out of milk? You send a manager to the grocery store to buy enough to tide you over until the Sysco truck arrives. Goodbye, Blue Giraffe. You will never see us again. Next time the grandkids are hungry we'll go to The Island Cow or Over Easy.

Before we went for my epic showdown against the elite four, the gang and I decided to crash at Sanibel Island for a little vacay that we all needed. After shopping for super cool clothing and sunglasses for pikachu and me at this plaza, we decided to snag a bite here. Prices were pretty decent, and it was right there, so why not? I had spasms when I found out they served duck here, so I ordered the shredded duck club. Sadly enough, the amount of duck was pretty insufficient, and it wasn't really shredded enough if at all, because when i took the first bite, all of the duck came out as one cohesive unit, which was a bit of a hassle. It was was dry, hard, and flavorless. Brock had the seafood pasta dish ( i forget the exact name of the dish), and they were extremely skimpy on the seafood. Misty's buffalo chicken wings were good, but, then again, if you can't do buffalo chicken wings, then don't quit your day job. PIkachu's burger was absolutely dazzling, however. So, all in all, I'd say the Blue Giraffe is average. In pokemon terms, Snorlax would love it, but Alakazam would be rather skeptical. Now I believe Pikachu has some parting words before we go play frisbee on the beach. PIKAAAAAAAAAAPIPIPIKAPIKA!!! pipikachuchu pikapikapikapi. PPIIIIIIIIKAAAAACHUUUUUUUU!!!! pi. pikapika. chuchupikapikachu? pi! pikachu. pikaaaaa!!

My daughter and I love the Blue Giraffe. Had a wonderful, tasty crab cake appetizer with Asian slaw and peanut sauce for dipping. Delish!!

    (5)
  • J S.

Good food. Salmon stuffed with crabmeat was enjoyed greatly by my son. Wife's margarita flat bread was not good at all as it was flat bread with a piece of mozzarella cheese and tomatoes. Prices seemed consistent with other restaurants on the island. Found it better it stick with the fish entrees.

  • Mandy F.

The service was good but the food just was not that great. They brought out my salad that I asked to have grilled chicken with and it had a pile of oily fried chicken. They immediately corrected the mistake but the chicken was still pretty disgusting, even when grilled. Maybe I just ordered the wrong item but I was not impressed.

Had a difficult time finding this place since the road leading to the strip mall was blocked for paving. no signs nor directions pointing you to the right direction. The restaurant is tuck in all the way at the back the mall.Nice decor, kid friendly, friendly service. Food is ok, nothing stands out. A bit pricey for food that are just on the average.grade. Good to try once.

    (3)

This restaurant was great, they offer a wide variety of dishes. We especially enjoyed the crab cake appetizers with a delicious thai slaw. The outdoor seating is a bonus, and the non existent wait was even better!

  • Dirty W.

Average food that is over priced (i.e. par for the course for sanibel and captiva). Also, although I am no expert, my "grouper" sammy looked and tasted like tilapia. When I asked my server about it, he replied he was 100% sure it was legit but offered to take it back. I ate it because I was hungry. My suspicions grew while eating - the texture was off. Another strike: my daughter's pancakes were far from fluffy (and we are experts in the breakfast at any time of the day department). I will pass next time. Oh if only the over easy was open....

    (2)
  • Emo F.

we visited last month. slow service sprinkled with moderate rudeness. mediocre location and atmosphere. the fried shrimp were so greasy and overcooked you'd barely have recognized them. the dipping sauce was warm, which I didn't like. My wife had the crab-cake, which she said was "okay". i don't know, we just weren't happy with it so we wouldn't try it again.

This review is based on a scale of 'what's available on Sanibel/Captiva'. Have been eating across the islands for four years and, with few exceptions, the restaurants are all variations on a theme...fried fish. The Blue Giraffe is not a fish restaurant. It features a pleasantly varied menu executed well in an attractive setting. Most recently my husband and I enjoyed baby back ribs and a duck sandwich both of which were tender and tasty. The wait staff is friendly, the desserts are good and the hand painted tables are attractive. The food is not overpriced.

  • Wood W.

Ate here when we arrived on Sanibel late on Saturday from our drive down. Went due to ad in Dining Guide touting Taste of the Islands victories. We were the only patrons which served our need for food fast but made me nervous. Staff was helpful but food was not particularly quick which was astounding. Baby back ribs were average with heavy tomato-based sauce. My son got the Duck Club Sandwich which was very dry though in fairness he omitted the cranberry mayo it was intended to have. Kids liked the milk shakes though which thy reported as better than average. It's not that we had a bad meal but there is better to be had on the island IF you know where to go. There can be a lot of average over priced food if you don't find the right places though.

  • Adam S.

We went to the blue giraffe for a late lunch on a Sunday. A shared mozzarella sticks appetiser followed by the pineapple fruit salad with chicken for one and a tuna sandwich for me. We both enjoyed the food and the setting. Staff were attentive and polite. Overall a def "we would go back" place.

    (4)
  • JAmes W.

WOW!! The food here is overpriced. I ordered a grouper sandwich that was over seasoned, small, and it tasted old. I asked the "hostess" if it was fresh or frozen. She was taken back by my question and responded with a quick and snippy "fresh" and left. Our waiter was slow and not on point. We had to ask the hostess for refills because we couldn't find our waiter. He served the food and was gone. $50 for a Cobb salad, pasta without meat, and a grouper sandwich with one ice tea. I gave it one star for location.

We went to the Blue Giraffe for dinner one night and it was a cute place but the food was boring. It just seemed like they left something out of all of our meals.

    (2)
  • Marina M.

Incredibly disappointing. The decor is very cute, but I can't understand the 45 minute wait to be seated for dinner. Service was lackadaisical and our bread bowl arrived a minute before half of the entrees arrived, while the rest of the table waited for their food, which was lukewarm and mediocre. The food itself is overpriced diner food. I made the mistake of ordering the penne Alfredo, which was literally a bowl of over cooked pasta from the box dribbled with what tasted like Alfredo sauce from the jar. Half the pasta was bare as apparently it was too time consuming to even stir the dish. The same meal I've cooked at home for $3 costs $13.99 at the Blue Giraffe. My parents fared better with the BBQ taco salad and crabcake appetizer, but the supposedly 'BBQ' chicken was devoid of any discernible marinade and appeared grilled at best. Overall, the food was overpriced, mediocre to poor, and served slowly. Skip the Blue Giraffe and eat at the much prettier and tastier Sea Star Cafe.

  • Julia B.

Adult food was good. We had the crabcake sandwich and the sanibel wrap, all which was very good. The children's hamburgers looked and tasted like something that was served at a school cafeteria - I would not take my kids back there again.

  • Nota R.

An average place in a soul-sucking little shopping center with horrid tourist trap shops all around. Our food was fine and very reasonably priced for Sanibel. And our server, Ryan, was beyond wonderful. Ultimately, though, this place offers neither the funk of a local joint nor the thrill of fine dining. I would recommend it for a solid meal that won't break the bank.

    (3)
  • Robert D.

Remarkably below average, even for Sanibel. Tough to find something that sounded great on the menu. The kids menu may have been the highlight of the meal. Roast beef ciabatta served cold was rather bland. Nothing remotely exciting. Seafood pasta dish with crab-stuffed shrimp (special) - the sauce was flavorless and did not really go with the seafood. Not worth ordering. A couple of the fish dishes were fine, but the veggies were better than the fish. The big deal breaker was my wife's beer was served warm (room temp) - when brought to their attention, it took about 15 minutes for the beer to return only to not be much different. Overall, we'd certainly go elsewhere before heading back to the Blue Giraffe.

Well prepared, Fresh and Friendly...My wife and I took our 2 children over to Captiva Island for our anniversary for the weekend of April 30th, 2011 and on our way back to Weston, Florida we stopped into the Blue Giraffe restaurant because my daughter's favorite color is Blue and her favorite animal is a Giraffe! I had the Sesame Crusted Salmon with petite roasted potatoes and mixed vegetables and Wow! I eat out often and this was one of the best dishes I have ever had. The Salmon was juicy and cooked to perfection, the roasted potatoes were perfect and well seasoned and the vegetable were steamed I believe because they were still crisp and lightly seasoned. I was tempted to ask for more potatoes and vegetables and if we were eating family style i would definitely taken seconds. The decor was country casual with lots of beautifully crafted and painted art and little stuffed Giraffe's hung from the ceiling! The staff all worked together well and we needed for nothing! My kids eat almost everything on their plates as well which is a great feat in and of itself and our trip home went very well. Everyone left fully satisfied! I will be dining here again next trip over to the East Coast of Florida!

I loved it! The restaurant has a very nice environment not to mention the unique decoration. It is fun and romantic. Thefts is exceptionally great!!! Had the Herb Chicken and WOW! What a taste! One of the best baked chicken I have eaten. Recommend this place 1,000%

I am going to have to agree with Jeff M's assessment of this place when he says, "don't go out of your way for this place". Its average at best, but maybe thats because of what we ordered. We stayed away from the pricey seafood. I had the turkey bacan wrap and Sanibel Red Chowder. Tasty but not spectacular. My daughter did Fish Fingers (actually very tasty cod pieces) and I cannot remember what my teenage son did this time around. There is nothing about this place that will leave you dying to come back unless you find something on the menu that just hits your spot.

It's in the heart of Sanibel. Convenient if you are shopping at the Periwinkle Place. I wouldn't go out of my way to go to this place. There are plenty of restaurants along the main road on Sanibel. My chicken sandwich was phenomenally average, but my wife's salad (chicken w/blue cheese, strawberries and apricots) was really good. Daughter's pizza was pretty good, but son's mac'n cheese was for sure Kraft out of the box.

OMG- just go. It's off the main road between the "better" shops. The service was excellent. The coconut cake - divine & huge. The calamari- super tender. Inside was decorated w/an island like theme but I always sit outside if it's an option. Lots of bad places to eat in Sanibel/Captive BUT this ISN'T one of them!

Boring, uninspired, overpriced and average at best. Dinner for 2, with soft drinks: $65. Too much for bland, overcooked frozen fish.

We were there in October again and it was not good. Had the clam chowder and burger that i mentioned in my previous review and they have really gone downhill

Perfectly reliable establishment for good food and quick service. We had dinner here after going to Bailey's grocery store our first night on the island. We both wanted light and quick so I ordered the salad with berries, nuts and shredded duck, and husband ordered the teriyaki salmon, which was overly crusted with sesame seeds for his liking. We both also had the Sanibel red chowder, which was Manhattan style with a thicker tomato broth. No major complaints on the items I'd ordered. The chowder was very good actually and as someone who likes duck, I enjoyed my salad. When I asked our waitress about the duck salad vs. the duck sandwich she literally turned her nose up and went on to explain how she doesn't like duck because it's so greasy. Husband doesn't like duck for the same reason so the two of them bonded over how unappealing duck is while I sat there trying to make the best of it because I like to order duck out because it's not something I ever cook at home, given husband's revulsion for it. It was odd to hear a waitress downplay two of the restaurant's offerings but I'm sure she prides herself on being honest!

The bread and onion rings were very good. Everything else was just ok.

We went there hungry and left happy! I had the Pecan encrusted salmon, one word phenomenal cooked perfectly. I had double vegetables rather than a starch and they where really good. My SO ordered the grouper & shrimp Cajun special there was none left, he truly enjoyed it. Our waitress Joanna was extremely helpful & nice. All in all I would recommend this place for a satisfying & delicious meal.

Not good, very expensive tourist trap. I doubt they care about repeat customers. Take thief money, and know they will never come back. Crab cakes came out of a box.

We went against the advice of others and tried this place while on holiday. We knew we made a mistake the minute we walked through the door, the surly guy behind the podium led us into the back of the almost completely empty restaurant (4:45pm). We were the only people in the restaurant and when we inquired about the seeing the dinner menu (instead of the sandwiches on the lunch) - our waitress said... and I swear to god this is true. "I can't give you the dinner menu because we dont start serving dinner until 5pm". We were like... okay. Can we still look? We also asked to move to a larger table (5 in our party) and we were told our desired table was only for groups of 6. Remember the restaurant was EMPTY! We finally ordered off the lunch menu and had a very uninspired salad with canned fruit and fish on top. Ofcourse it was iceberg lettuce. Avoid this place, what a joke. Average food, bad vibe, and failure to treat the customer as though they were appreciated. p.s. the empty table was empty the whole time, and when we left it (along with the restaurant) was still empty.

My family and I came here for lunch one day while we were shopping around Periwinkle. I really liked the Sanibel Island wrap. It was kind of like a southwest wrap with black beans, rice, salsa, cheese, and sides of guac and sour cream. Our server was really friendly. Its a really cute place that anyone should definitely try.
