Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

We showed up after Alive After 5 on a Thursday night and had very bad service. The food itself was good, which warrants the 2 star rating, but there were only 3 tables and it took a very long time for our food. We ordered 3 calzones and 2 Stromboli and the Stromboli came out 10 minutes before the calzones. This made for a very uncomfortable time with myself and the other in our party to patiently wait for everyone's food to show up. The only waitress on duty told us "there was a problem in the back" but that unfortunately didn't help out situation very much. I've ordered from here for delivery before and the food is very good but you won't find me dining in again in the future.

Awesome pizza and terrific service. Love the new expansion/bar. We have been long time patron and will continue to be.

We used to love this place when they were a small store. With the expanded seating the service has been bad twice. Just ordered a lunch special of two slices. Took over 15 minutes to get and it was basically old cheese pizza with a topping and some grated cheese thrown on top. I guess it is back to Gino's in Oviedo for us.
(1)Kimberly L.
The food was good when we finally got it 56 MINUTES LATER. Didn't ever get my side salad that I asked for and then waited 20 more minutes for the check.
(2)Grace O.
Very nice , big change since we had last been there and they had done the place up. Pizza was gorgeous , It's loosing the last star, as it was understaffed the day we went & a bit of a wait . But worth it
(4)Maureen O.
Very good pizza. I had two slices of pizza with mushrooms and it was very good. They also have live entertainment many nights. The restaurant looks like it has recently expanded.

I discovered this hidden gem during a Bry and I date night. I'd wanted to try their pizza for a while now and I'm very happy that I did. I originally ordered the eggplant Parmesan- my new favorite and a small margherita pizza for Bryan. Wow, I took a bite of the pizza and I loved it. The pizza wasn't at all oily and had a perfect balance of sauce. I really liked the crust. Very delicious. The wait is the downside, for fast food it is long but well worth it and I'm patient. On another note I heard their wings are pretty good and I didn't know they had a bar. Interesting place, hidden gem.

I had heard this place was tasty, but with pizza, you gotta try it to believe it! I believe it!!! I ordered the cheese calzone and man...i thought my paper plate was gonna bend in half...so heavy from all that motz and riccota! It was baked right then and pipping HOT!!! I could only eat half of it cause it was so big!!! They served it with a marinara sauce that was very yummy as well. My friends ordered pizza slices and well...they didn't leave any on their plates! The staff was very friendly, it's small, but you feel like you're part of the family. It's right on the lake, so when you're done stuffing your face, you can go for a nice walk on the water and check out the marina that's right next door. I will definetly be going back here and maybe next time go halfsies with one of my friends :D

I go to riverwalk every few months with my boyfriend. it's a nice environment with good pizza and when i heard they recently expanded i had to go. i went in and ordered our normal order (2 slices of pepperoni, drink, and 5 garlic knots) and got MAJOR attitude from the cashier who was dressed as luigi for halloween. she was very short with me and if i dared to ask a question she would give me a nasty look and answer me like i was a child VERY RUDE!!! Then i sat on the other side of the restaurant where they expanded....which not a single soul was in but us. a different employee brought us our order along with a nasty comment about how far she had to walk to bring us the food. it was a far distant but i wanted to sit in the expansion...you would think they would want their customers to experience the new room as well...guess not. like i said above i got an app. of garlic knots and two pieces of pizza...well she brought us two rock hard, burnt pieces of pizza and told us the garlic knots would be out in 5-10 minutes. i guess they don't quite understand the word appetizer. when the knots finally came out there was 10 instead of 5 so i got up and told the women who had been running our food(who was a redneck for halloween??? idk she had camo overalls on and pigtails.) that the cashier rang our order up wrong and that half of the knots were cold and her was repsonse was very short and rude as well. she pretty much told us she doesn't understand because they cook the knots all at the same time. she really should have said i'm sorry and just fixed em. i didn't ask her for an explanation. lol and done something about the number of knots but i guess she was too busy or just didn't care enough. so a few minutes later after trying as hard as i could to eat the dry burnt pizza and my cold knots i eventually just left. this really saddens me because i have been going there for a couple of years and they have increasingly gotten worse. except for the staff...the staff was especially rude this one visit. i don't think i will ever go back....worst dining experience i've had in a while!!!! oh and did i mention the manager was in the room giving someone an interview and overheard all my complaints and didn't go out of his way to fix it???

The best pizza I've had since I left Italy!
(5)Abbey W.
I can't tell you how the food is because I got so mad at the service here I left before I got the chance to even try anything. There's so many better businesses in the area to support! Honestly do yourself a favor and go help a nice family run place stay in business because the people here don't deserve to.

I'll leave my original review intact below, but I'm so happy to say that since my original review, they've started to offer some great beers on draft. Awesome, 5 stars!! Service seems to have been great the last few times here as well. ============== Original Review ============== The only reason I can't being myself to give this restaurant 5 stars is their beer selection is depressing. Sanford is an up and coming beer lovers town! At least have a single craft beer (shock top doesn't count). There's no excuse! Service was ok. A little slow, but friendly. Our pizza was phenomenal though, and I would go back here despite their drink situation.
(5)Shantel P.
Recently moved to Sanford been trying to find a good pizza place & came across this pizzeria. I must say after reading the reviews this place does go down as the best pizza in town! I ordered their pizza, stromboli, & cheesecake & it was all so yummy! Definitely would recommend this place! This will be my go to pizza spot now :) Oh & the best part about this place is THEY DELIVER!!! Doesn't get better than that!
(4)Ken C.
Service was exceptionally slow. We waited 30 minutes for our pizza, despite the restaurant being less than 1/4 full.
(1)Melissa S.
Tried this place based on some reccomendations. Good food (buffalo chicken pizza!!!! What?? Amaze), very nice and thorough server. Drinks stayed refilled, and check came as requested. I didn't love the high top chairs though....One guest in our party noted that the chairs were pretty small for a place that was about to serve a lot of food! Maybe time for me to stop eating pizza and drinking beer? Yikes! One really bad part. How to say this without sounding like an elitist *itch??? There was man sitting at the bar- known to be homeless- who sat there staring at my daughter. I finally asked the server what was up. Creepers gonna creep right? I guess it's a fine line for the business when he is a paying customer too? Anyway... We will come back but I'll check out who is sitting at the bar first.
(4)Johnna M.
I don't know why this place has such mixed reviews. The food is delicious, the restaurant is casual but clean and modern, and the service was friendly. Perhaps a little slow, but friendly. I'm not a huge fan of marinara most the time, but theirs is top notch and the pizza is the best I've had in this area. And the beer is CHEAP! What more do you want? They have an acoustic performer Friday and Sat night who is really good too!
(5)Grant C.
Wound up getting a Gyro and a Greek salad the other day. And was surprised with both of them. I had almost written this place off since I haven't really enjoyed the pizza or sandwiches, but my lunch was pretty good. I'll give river walk another chance.
(3)John M.
My wife and I rode our bikes here on Superbowl Sunday. We got here early, around 1pm, so we figured it wouldn't be very busy yet, but it was completely dead. We were one of only 3 groups total in the whole place. So to start, you seat yourself. Maybe not everyday, but at least on this day. So we did. No one came for a little while though. We almost thought that we hadn't read the "seat yourself" sign correctly. Eventually someone came over, and then we had excellent service. This was by far the best pizza I had ever had. Also, the slices were HUGE. My wife had the chicken tenders, and she said it was really good chicken. Also, the bathrooms were super clean. All in all, we really liked this place and will definitely be coming back.
(5)Frederick D.
Outstanding place .my new lunch hang out !! The young lady at the counter was so nice !!!!!!!!
(5)Robert S.
The pizza is good, and not too expensive. Compared to other local options, it's very good. The big issue is the service, which is slower than molasses. I have been twice, and on both occasions it took a minimum of twenty-five minutes to receive our pizza in a nearly empty restaurant. If you have extra time on your hands and expect this going in, it's fine, but don't go if you're in a rush.
(3)Jason F.
Was amazed when we walked in and recognized all the furniture from Ikea. When we got the pizza, it wasn't all that great. Needed to be cooked longer. They didn't have actual plates, you are served from paper plates. When it was time to leave, we couldn't find our waitress and I had to walk to the bar in order for them to get us the check. Won't be going back.
(1)Paul P.
Huge slice of pizza, nice ceasar salad, and a drink for $5.99 Heck yeah!!! Popped in for a bite to eat and very pleasantly surprised. Food was excellent, prices are cheap, clean and great location on river walk in Sanford. Highly recommend the eggplant with cheese appetizer was delicious. Glad we gave this place a try we will definitely be back
(5)Tammy A.
I like this place. The pizza is solid, the prices are good, and they deliver to my house. I did recently order a stromboli and was kind of disappointed by the fact that it was quite small. The mozzarella sticks were spot-on though. The wings are great too - all in all this is a great little pizza joint. If you dine in, get a slice to go and sit by the Riverwalk, it's a perfect place for a scenic quick lunch. Do be careful if the person who takes your order is not proficient in English - my order got really messed up once and it was simply due to it being "lost in translation." They made it right though - which was good because I was 12000 months pregnant and would have gone ape-shit! :)

Definitely the best pizza in Sanford :) For those wanting to save some cash there is a very good deal available at bligdeal.com Enjoy
(5)Gina A.
Coming from New Yorkers, we have a high expectation for pizza. The pizza here came pretty close. Cute little place right on the water. Friendly staff and prices weren't too bad. Would definitely come back
(5)Megan C.
Good pizza & a nice little spot on the water. Very clean and not too pricey! Lunch for 2 under $15. The Hawaiian pizza wad delicious!
(4)Shalimar F.
I've been here several times and I've enjoyed my experience each time. The food is great. I've had the pepperoni pizza and the Bianca and they were both delicious. I had an order of the garlic balls or whatever you call then and they were on point too. As far as the service, we had a group come and they accommodated all of us in a timely manner with professionalism so no complaints from me. As far as the "teenagers" at the front counter that someone was referring to, I just received excellent customer service from the young gentleman who took my order. He was friendly and even asked me how my day was going. It's the little things like that, that make a difference. The decor in this place is awesome. My favorite colors red, black and white. I thoroughly enjoy this place. I love the view of the nearby marina and lake Monroe. Parking has always been available when we've come to the area. I would recommend ordering ahead if there's an event downtown just in case parking is limited. Ok my pizzas here, time to eat!!
(5)Jack J.
Wanted a slice of pizza that was on the menu, but apparently not available for purchase - pretty bummed about that. Settled on the meat trio pizza. Food was fairly priced and very good. Service was sort of lack-luster. Mediocre service was made up for by the great view of the river! Fairly large restaurant and not busy at all during lunch on a Monday. Maybe take out next time is the way to go!
(3)Nishant G.
This place comes hyped with the best pizza in town. I'm sad to say that it didn't meet my expectations. It tasted bland and cold. And it was way over-priced. Don't bother getting the salad, complete rip-off. There are way better places to eat than here. Hell, Pizza Hut is better pizza than here. Sure, the view is nice of the river, and this establishment is an anchor in the revitalization of the riverwalk of Sanford, but come on guys, you can do better with the pizza.
(2)Eric C.
I've never in my life waited 27 minutes for a single slice of cheese pizza. All I ordered was ONE slide of cheese during my Jury Duty lunch break. After about 20mins I stood up near the front register and the cashier proceeded to take new orders, and the other guy who was running food to tables didn't say anything. I had to watch my pizza for about 5 mins sit there until I finally got their attention and got my slice. Stinks I had to run back to court and Was 3 mins late. Avoid this place if at all possible!!!!
(1)Antonio R.
Very bad service, too much wait time. Pizza don't have much taste.
(1)Donald H.
1.5 hours and we still don't have our food.no sweat tea. Forgot half our order. I usually order to go and the pizza is usually pretty good. This is by far the worst. We won't be back Christos from now on. They keep bringing single items out every 15 min. The water was cold though.
(1)Dale W.
I'm sure the pizza is great, but the service I received was less than desirable after placing a call-in order to pick up a pizza to go. I call and order a large pizza, and the polite gentleman on the phone explained it would be ready to pick up in 25 minutes. I arrive to pay and pick up my pizza 25 minutes later, and it hasn't even been made yet. It's not in the oven. I am told it will be ready in 25 minutes. I am told this is due to a "rush" that occurred after I called in my order. This is unacceptable. Get some priorities straight. I will never buy another pizza from these people again.

3.5 stars! Good food.....Service? Not so much. The good? Prices were fair. The dinners were 9.99 which is very inexpensive but then I realized why. The portions were small (Chicken Parm w/ pasta and spaghetti w/ sausage) But again, the food was good. They need to offer a selection. Only spaghetti was available the young girl told me....I am an angel hair or penne kind of gal. Hey I'm from NEW YAWK. Garlic knots- YUM. FOR FLORIDA-THIS PIZZA IS PRETTY DARN GOOD! I was pleasantly surprised. I gave up on pizza in Florida when I moved here because it was all so awful. Now, we went on the weekend for a late lunch. The young girl behind the counter was not only slow and clueless but unfriendly. There was NO forks/knives or anything where they were supposed to be. We ordered 2 dinners (2 people) so I asked for forks. With her blank expression she said "we have forks right here" I said "no I'm looking and this is empty" Then she says "ohhhhh. How many?" I wanted to reply "well Einstein how many do you think since there's 2 of us and we ordered 2 dinners?" Wow.... Food came out fast-it wasn't busy so it shouldn't have taken long anyway. OH! And a big + was they make the croutons for the salad. Homemade croutons in my book are way underrated. These were homemade (still soft in the middle from not being cooked long enough) but still A for effort on that front. Very clean and great view of the marina and all the bicycles and motorcycles and people walking by. Another plus. I would definitely go back. They need to get rid of the high schoolers behind the register though.

There is a reason the person taking your order should speak English. I came here because I read the glowing reviews on Yelp, and had a recommendation. I ordered my food, a total of 4 calzones. Three with just cheese, and one with sausage, onions and peppers. After about 35 minutes, yes 35, I went in to check on my order. They said 5 more minutes. BTW, there was no one else eating. 5 minutes later the 3 cheese calzones came out, and my calzone with peppers turned into pepperoni. UGH!! I go and complain, they apologize said I can have a new one in 15 minutes. How is that possible since the others took 40? Well, not wanting to wait for my lunch for another 15 plus minutes, I just picked the peperoni out. if their service was not so bad and slow I give them a solid 3. Will not be back though.
(2)Joe C.
Food is good! But try ordering something on a busy night for delivery! They can't handle it. I've given up, but I will go there to eat.
(3)lauren m.
Went in for the first time. It was around 7pm and it was pretty slow. The service was friendly and we were hungry so we ordered right away. The pizza was really really good. We got the Tuscany pizza (tomatoes, ricotta, mushrooms and spinach) and each ordered a buy one get one beer. We ate it all. Both servers said it was their favorite pizza. I'm afraid every time I go back I'll be ordering the same thing. It was really that good!

I was hosting a couple lunches for a local business and was strongly urged by one of their employees to go to Riverwalk Pizza. I'm not a huge pizza fan myself, so I just wanted to make them happy. The morning of my first event went very smoothly. I would've given Riverwalk 5 stars after that day. But, as I said, I was hosting two lunches. Day 1: I went to Riverwalk in person. I placed my order, paid the bill, picked up the paper plates, napkins, utensils, and condiments. All they had to do was deliver the pizza on time. Day 2: I CALLED in my order. I asked them to bring everything that I would need to host the lunch. The driver showed up with Pizza. Only pizza. No plates, napkins, nothing... I was pretty upset. He looked at the receipt and said that they didn't write anything down except for crushed red pepper. Ok... so where's the crushed red pepper then???? If that was the only thing written down, then shouldn't he have at least brought that? So... whatever... The driver found some napkins from a Smoothie place in his car and left those for me. Poor guy. He tried... I called Riverwalk to express my disappointment. She said that when I made my initial call, they couldn't hear me very well so they didn't get that I wanted the paper products. Of course, I said that still didn't explain why he didn't bring the one thing that WAS written down. I'm a stickler. I know. But, when someone is going to give me excuses and rationalize their poor behavior, I will call them out on it. Look. When you screw up, just say, I'm sorry. How can I make it better. Don't give me a whole song and dance as to why you screwed up because I don't wanna hear it. That song and dance isn't gonna fix the problem at hand, right??? Ok. I'm done. :-) Bad service aside, the pizza was really good! Cuz, like I said, I'm not a pizza fan. But I even ate the leftovers... *yum yum*
(3)Steve F.
This place has gone WAY WAY WAY down, in my honest opinion. If you would have asked me a year or so ago about Riverwalk, I would have given 8 stars. My family and I have been a consistent, almost weekly, patron of this restaurant for over 2 years - mostly delivery. In that time we have had just about everything on the menu and it all has been outstanding. Pizza had that slight crisp on the bottom, plenty of toppings, perfect amount of cheese and a great tasting sauce. Calzone's were big and plentiful, overflowing with cheese. Stromboli's - tons of toppings, usually falling off a plate. On and on and on. For about the last year, we noticed the quality had started to deteriorate. But figured it was just one of those things - not everyone is perfect - and basically lived with it. For the last 6-9 months, the food has been extremely poor. Pizza - soft bottom like it had sat out for way too long, or wasn't cooked long enough (even after ordering it every time "well done"). Toppings are scarce. Calzones - often undercooked, raw dough, mozzarella cheese not even melted completely, and the size - about half the size of what they used to be Stromboli - BIGGEST disappointment. The last 5 times I've ordered a regular Stromboli, the dough has been raw and it has the equivalent to 1 pizza slice of toppings, if that. Oh and the size. I measured mine tonight. Right under 6". Seriously, if you put it on a piece of pizza... it was smaller. Mozzarella Sticks - Cold cheese, almost no cheese. Used to be overflowing with hot stringy cheese. Garlic Knots - tasted microwaved. Hard, no flavor We have called after our last 10 orders. Yes, 10. We loved this place so much that we kept giving them chances. Not any longer. I get it that restaurants, like the rest of us, are looking for ways to save money and maximize profit. But when the quality and size of your portions go extremely down and you don't lower the price? I mean a Stromboli that cost $8 had the equivalent of 5 pieces of pepperoni, 2 pieces of sausage, 4 mushrooms, 5 slivers of green pepper, 2 slivers of onion, uncooked dough (even after pleading for them to cook it extra) and cheese was almost nonexistent. Yes. I counted the toppings. That's how pathetic it was. I am NOT one of those people who complains every single time at a restaurant. I know what's good and what isn't. The issue is I know this place has been great, but for the last almost year, the quality is beyond poor. We have called and asked to talk with managers and are offered a credit for our next order. We've even apologized for complaining. I know, sad, but like I said... we NEVER complain. Riverwalk has lost a customer as of tonight. Even this last time when we called, they didn't seem too concerned. I know people will still go there, but maybe this review helps out others that have experienced the same issues.
