Kind of hard to draw a bead on this place. Although it was quite crowded during our first visit about two years ago, our server was great, very attentive, and our meals were all served promptly and damn-fine. I left thinking "No wonder the parking lot is always so crowded". During our following two visits, however, the service was extremely slow and the wait staff very inattentive, even though the place was not busy at all. What should have been a simple one-hour meal both times somehow turned into a two-hours plus endurance test. On both of those occasions I left thinking "How can the parking lot almost always be so crowded" ?? I think the reason that the reviews here are all over the place is due to the hit-and-miss, close-your-eyes-and-pray nature in how this restaurant is staffed and managed.... All over the place....

Cheddar's is basically an upscale version of Chili's or Applebee's. The decor is great. The atmosphere is wonderful. My waiter did a good job, well mannered -- though he did give us our check without first asking if we wanted dessert (we did). The quality of the food is equal to the price -- nothing extraordinary, but solid. No one thing about Cheddar's stood out to me, but I also had nothing to complain about.

The good: For a Friday night, we were seated right away. Our server was super friendly, we joked around a bit. I ordered a Moonshine Mary, which was delightful. It was the right amount of hot sauce and Worcestershire, served with 2 olives and a celery slice (Next time, throw a pickle and more garnishes in there. A Bloody Mary is the closest thing to a salad that I'm going to have). The atmosphere is a bit dark, but very clean. The bad: My steak was a bit saltier than I'd have liked, and my wife's signature burger tasted like what she described as a high school cafeteria burger. I had s nite and thought that description was strangely accurate, considering I graduated high school 17yrs ago. Why can't you find anywhere that makes high school styled rectangular pepperoni pizza? Those things were delicious! Where was I? Oh yea... The waitress seemed to have disappeared when we got our entrees, but I'll assume that's because by then it was around 10pm and she was trying to get other work done before closing. Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere, The cheese bites, Texas cheese fries... I'd go again and sample something else from the menu.

My first experience eating at Cheddar's was incredible. I was shocked at how low the prices were per different meal, and even more impressed with how well my food was prepared. I came out of my way again today, to come to eat at Cheddars, I have had excellent service, incredible meals, and it's a very lovely place to go out of your way for. The restaurants design inside is superb. I love this place. This is my first choice when in Sanford, or near by.

Cheddars was not ready today for their consumers. The place was packed to the seams again, Things went kinda fast but we had a large party so we had to wait, It appears that they don't have enough servers. Long story short they were out of onions rings, ribs and the machine that makes frozen drinks was broke, I am still searching for the chicken in the chicken pot pie I ordered. The best thing about my dinner was the side caesar salad with the buttery croissant. I am going to hope this was just a fluke night for them!!!

We have been to multiple cheddars over the years. My boyfriend and I love cheddars! We are obsessed with their spinach dip. I have yet to find a better spinach dip anywhere else. My parents were in town so decided to bring them here. They have one by where they're from but never went. They loved everything!!!!!! They were amazing at how great the food tasted and how adorable it was. My mom was exceptionally impressed that the manager was walking around making sure everyone was doing well and had everything they needed. The waitress was very friendly and everything came out perfect. I recommend the spinach dip, the croissants, and I always get the buffalo chicken ranch wrap! Yum!!! My dad loved his Texas margarita. Overall our experience was very pleasant and will continue to return.

I think this place is a good value. They have a lot of variety which is great for when we have to go out to eat with a larger group (something for everyone). The New Orleans pasta is a bit salty, but enjoyable. The burgers are pretty good but they won't cook it colder than medium so be warned. My favorite items are the ribs and the Monte cristo. If I had one bit of advice, bring back the chicken and waffles! In general, everyone is usually happy, and the price is relatively cheap, so I recommend but do not expect a fine dining experience.

Went in around 2pm and there was a wait. Think we waited for about 15 minutes. I ordered a spicy mango mojito which I did enjoy. We ordered the chicken quesadilla which was good. For lunch I got the fried jalapeño cheese burger and I loved it. Must try burger. The service was ok, she was nice and friendly but did forgot the 2nd drink we ordered. She also gave us the check without asking if we wanted desert too. Overall good food and nice service with just a minor flaw. My friend ordered the New Orleans pasta and that had great flavor also.

Decided to have dinner at Cheddars last night. We eat at Cheddar's often when we're home so this seemed like an ideal place to go. Cheddar's never disappoints. We shared an order of onion rings. A plate piled high with rings that were lightly breaded were scrumptious. My wife ordered her usual pot pie and I tried the catfish. A huge pile of filets, lightly breaded, were delicious. Had two sides and a salad. It was more than I could finish so a togo box would give me enough for lunch the next day. Our server was outstanding. My only criticism is the noise levels. With many families and young kids around a table in the rear is recommended if you want any quiet. Please don't let that stop you. Just ask for a quiet location.

Gross. The food is horrible. Sent back my first order because it tasted bad after 2 bites. Ordered a different second meal, came out wrong. Also tasted horrible and I only ate a small amount. Now I feel ill. I will never return. Server was really nice. Feel bad he has to deal with that.

Cheddar's in Sanford is always bustling. Expectedly, on Mothers Day, it was a madhouse. The declared wait time was 1 hour but we got seated around 30- not bad. The food was decent. I ordered the grilled chicken Alfredo. It was well portioned and priced reasonably for the taste. Personally, I have never found an amazing pasta anywhere I go but this was decent. What made this a 3 star experience for me was the server. She wasn't directly rude but was not overtly nice; she was terse. Her fellow workers were far nicer. She must have been stressed but it's not my job to counsel her on that. This is my second time here and the last experience was better. Minus the server, this time was still a decent one. I'm sure I shall crossed paths with Cheddars again.
(3)Michelle R.
It's very good for being a chain restaurant. Big portions including drinks and very affordable. My favorite is the ribs, a half rack is more than enough. I would have given it a another star if they won't have taken away the chicken and waffles. The chicken and waffles was the best thing they had on their menu, so when they took it off I stopped going for a while. Don't order the nachos unless you want quesadillas because that's what it really is. The atmosphere is very nice and a great place to take a group.

Came here for Lunch not to long ago and had a good experience, the service was good and the food was delicious. Everything came out fresh and our buffalo chicken wrap was really good along with everything else. We got seated right away and was asked buy our waiter what we wanted to drink, ever sense it open its doors I have heard good things about this place but also heard it's always busy and that is true. Lunch time was busy but probably not as busy as Dinner time. Lots of good stuff to choose from the menu and and even a bar too, good drinks and beer selections. Check out cheddars if you are in the Sanford area.Try there strawberry lemonade with real strawberries inside the drink...delicious.
(4)Lisa C.
Great atmosphere for fun. The food is amazing. Not to mention their signature drink the Painkiller. It's so good but you can only have 2, I could only have 1. Wooooo
(5)Terrence C.
One of my favorite places.went to the location in Vadodara Georgia and fell in love.I am so glad they have the Sanford location.love the broccoli cheese casserole.makes me eat my veggies.I also love the variety of the menu that keeps us coming back.try the peach tea

Ugh - I seriously do not even know where to start. So, here goes nothing. We arrived around 9:30p, guess it's sort of our fault for coming so late. It took about ten minutes for a server to come over that took our drink order, but promptly told us that she wasn't our server. Another ten minutes went by before we got our drinks (nothing special, strawberry lemonade for both of us). We ordered our food at the same time that we received our drinks. Twenty minutes later, our food arrived. My husband's burger was overcooked and he requested cheese which he didn't get. The green beans that came with my meal tasted very sweet and you could tell they were canned. The dinner came with a piece of toast that was underneath the protein and was wet from the beans. After bringing this to her attention, she said "oh", walked off and did nothing. The worst part, the suggested gratuity on the bottom of the receipt.

This was my first visit to Cheddar's and it most likely will be my last. The only location near us is too far away to consider for the quality of the food. Don't misunderstand me. I liked the food. It just wasn't "WOW THIS IS AWESOME" food. It was literally just "hmm ok.. yeah this is a step up from McDonald's. We ordered a blackened fish, a spinach salad and chicken fingers. It was all as expected. The fish and the veggies were good but the flavor just wasn't exciting. The spinach salad wasn't any better than a pre-made version from Publix. The chicken fingers were exactly the same with fries. We ended up ordering a small chocolate, ice cream desert which was OK. The prices were normal to lower end. I think we had lunch for three people under $30. The service was good. Even with a busy lunch crowd we were seated in under 20 minutes.
(3)Jo J.
The food, wait staff and environment are very good. The kitchen is quite slow. I'm not sure if they were understaffed this evening, but it took nearly 45 minutes to an hour to get our food.
(3)Scott B.
The food and service here is great which is all you can ask for in a restaurant. The buffalo chicken wrap is phenomenal and pretty filling for a wrap. The peach tea is super refreshing on a hot day and the ambiance is really relaxing as well.
(5)Victoria L.
Great food and quality for the price! Many of options to choose from and a family friendly atmosphere.

I must admit, I was surprised to read that so many people had bad experiences here. If I had read the reviews herefirst I might not have given this place a shot. A friend and I decided to go on a whim and we had a very pleasant experience. We sat at the bar (which is pretty roomy) and there was no wait. Josh was working behind the bar and offered friendly service and great recommendations. We ended up both getting a rib eye steak, Parmesan crusted, and topped with sautéed mushrooms. Both steaks were cooked perfectly, and well flavored but not overwhelmingly so. Both steaks were generously portioned and there was very little fat. We returned many times since to order this same meal. Nearly always we sit at the bar and are served by Josh. We've never had to wait and the service has always been friendly. I am sad to report they no longer offer the option of paying extra for a Parmesan crust. Over the last year we've tried quite a few different things and all were pretty good and served in reasonably generous portions. One odd thing we noticed is there always seemed to be a gang of servers just standing around by the bar, talking, ordering food or counting money or something.i guess that's just where they gather. Very sorry for the people who had terrible experiences there :( we really enjoy it.
(4)Joseph W.
Very good. Portions very big. Chicken and shrimp very tasty. Red beans and rice have a kick of heat but I like it that way. The service was excellent, very attentive. Would recommend to try. Will return when in the area.
(4)Rebecca D.
Quality of the food has declined since the restaurant opened. It seems like the restaurant has started to have food cooked ahead rather than brought out freshly prepared and hot. The service is really hit or miss too.
(3)Rachel B.
Worst service ever. Food was cold. Never got salad. Drinks took literally 25 mins. Manager said he would remake the RAW chicken and instead because it was a few minutes passed closed.... He just remade my rice and broccoli which was obviously microwaved. Horrible situation. Manager made us feel bad because he had to cook it using a pan because his grill was off. They took the raw chicken originally and heated in the microwave. It was so dry and gross and they actually served it. Bad experience. Not ever going back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(1)Gabe M.
Best value in town. The food is good here and the prices are super cheap. The environment is nice...and if I've come here 3 times already I must like. I can say I always have a difficult time choosing what I want because the menu has many things I want to try. Nice for a casual lunch or dinner...but can't say they offer anything out of this world or extremely unique. You can get just about anything here that you can elsewhere.
(3)Rosa N.
Go here all the time best food and drinks and best prices. Nice decor. Just. Favorite.
(5)Casey R.
Servers have attitude and seem mad to be working. Food was good and came out pretty timely!
(2)Albert P.
Excellent food, huge portions, great prices!!!
(4)Alden K.
Honestly there's not much in the way of good chains, that I personally like in this area. I'm happy Cheddar's is here. Try the ribeye, not huge, but a great value and tasty!
(4)Chantel C.
Great prices and awesome food! Our server Chris made the night. We were a party of 15 and everyone loved what they ordered: mango tilapia, montecristo, buffalo wrap, chicken pot pie, cornbread coated fish, and a spicy pasta dish. Very good value for what they give you price wise. We will come back for sure!

I wouldn't bother, I wish I also had listened to the reviews. Although the building is nice outside, it is very dark and nosey inside. Considering it wasn't busy at the time we went, it was overly nosey The service is just not there, the food cold. First time, and last, took over twenty minutes to get even a drink Once we got drinks, took another fifteen minutes to see our waitress again. The food came cold, she never retuned to ask if we needed anything. The salmon was so thick with a sweet sauce my daughter couldn't eat it, potatoes cold no gravy. Husband and my steak cold, shrimp cold and tough. our baked potatoes had a few pieces of cheese, no butter, little sour cream, tasted like water. Spent over two hours there, most of it wondering why everyone else had service but us. If I have to wait on a meal I am fine with it, as long as a waiter or waitress stops by once in a while, asks if you need a refill on drinks, anything. Nothing.... I would have said something if anyone bothered to come over, no one did,the waitress dropped the check and never came back, we paid on the way out. I have never been treated so badly worse experience ever! Very disappointing to wait so long for food that was cold, over cooked, to sweet. I would listen to the reviews here, as most who give this place a 2 or less star rating are spot dead on. I for one won't bother to return.

We ate at this Cheddar's last night. First impressions were good. The restaurant is nice. The fish tank is amazing. Our server, Travis was on the ball and really attentive without being intrusive. That's where the good points end. First the restaurant was freezing cold! Our party was trying to keep warm. The food was a little slow coming out. Once it was in front of me I was disappointed. I ordered a half rack of ribs with Mac and cheese and broccoli casserole. Both of the sides were drowning in fake cheese sauce. My husband's salmon was overcooked. I absolutely HATED this restaurant and will not be returning.

I came into Cheddar's on a Saturday for a late lunch. This place was packed. Luckily we were able to get a seat at the bar for our 30 minute wait. The bartenders were super nice. Once seated it was business as usual. The food was good, I had the soup and salad with a side of their delicious, warm and sweet crescent rolls. Our waitress was friendly with us, but her included I noticed not a single waiter was smiling. They all walked around with scowls on their face. This did not translate in their customer interaction, just something I noticed. I've been to Cheddar's in Johnson City, TN and Asheville, NC, and this one fits right in with my home town counterparts. A great addition to the busy Sanford area.

I usually never write bad reviews, but I'll make an exception this time. I took my Dad here last Sunday for Father's day. We were seated and waited for our waitress to take our drink orders, only she never came. After about 20 mins I got up to find a hostess whom was very polite and advised she will let our waitress know. Waitress arrives moments later and we order our drinks and appetizers. Then we waited...and waited, about 45 mins after being seated appetizers and drinks finally make an appearance...I decided to just let it go, figured they must be busy because it's Father's day. No appetizer plates though...I asked If we could have some. I was told the dishwasher in the kitchen is not working, so no appetizer plates...fine, whatever. Then we ordered our dinner...15 mins tick by, then 30, then 45. By this point I'm noticing all the other tables around us have their food, even those seated long after us and with much larger parties. Our waitress has disappeared into the void and with no sign of her returning again I go speak with the hostess. She apologizes and moments later our waitress makes her return. She asks if there is a problem, SERIOUSLY!? Yes, we've been waiting two hours and have only seen you maybe three times!! Of course there is a problem. I refrained from actually saying this to her, but mentioned the extreme wait time for our food, to which she replied she had been there since early that morning and there are issues with the kitchen staff....exactly what I wanted ot hear... Didn't even give an apology from her. More time ticks by...no sign of food or waitress....I see a manager walk by and flag him down. I explain the situation to him, he apologizes and explains our food will be out right away. A few moments later it does arrive....cold...my steak, which i had ordered to be cooked rare...was cook so well done it was practically shoe leather, and the sides were not even luke warm...my dad was missing his two side dishes and no sauces were provided for my mom's chicken tenders...our drinks had not been refilled in so long the ice had turned to water and I was starting to lose my sh*t. Our waitress asked how everything looked at which point I advised my steak, that was meant to be rare, is well done...she then tells me "yeah the kitchen staff can't cook a steak for anything" I could not believe what I had just heard and then let her know I'd be needing to see a manger again. Manger comes back over "how is everything?" he asks....I advise not very good...showed him my steak and advised him of the cold and missing items....he advising he will rectify the situation...my mom and dad start eating and finish well before i get my steak, which is now at least cooked correctly. I eat it and then we begin the wait for the bill...and we wait...and we wait! I grab the waitress as she hurries by, attempting to avoid my eye contact. I ask her for the check and she states she will be right back...I catch an eye roll from her before she turns her back. Unacceptable, then the check comes... Now usually, when a manger has been called to a table twice in one night, with the amount of issues we had, you'd expect maybe in the interest of trying to make up for the inconvenience, some kind of compensation would have been offered. Nope nothing....nothing for the two and a half hours wasted...nothing for the poor service, nothing for the overcooked food or missing items....NOTHING, NADA, ZIP, ZILCH! We begrudgingly paid our bill and left. I am so disappointed with Cheddars , I can say without shadow of a doubt this is the WORST dining experience I have ever had ANYWHERE! It ruined what was supposed to be a nice evening out with my Dad for Father's day. We are from Louisville and have been to the Cheddars there many many times and never had an issue. My parents just moved here from Louisville and were very excited to be able to continue dinning at Cheddars, but after this I doubt they will want to. So disappointed with the customer service, I say dine here at your own risk. ***One more fun fact, the sinks in the bathrooms did not have water, and I saw numerous wait staff coming in and out of there...Bon Appetit!

This was our second visit. Web site said opened at 1030. They don't After 15 minutes finally found my drink couldn't be made because frozen drink machine wasn't frozen. Lol So canceled drink 15 minutes later they brought drink Server was pleasant Still waiting for our food. This was our second visit. Came for the Monte Christo. Probably won't return

I drive by here pretty regularly on my way to the 417 and the parking lot is always packed. After reading some of the reviews I was less than enthused about stopping in here for lunch with some coworkers. Happy to report, everything was great! We waited for the lunch rush to pass before heading over. We let our friendly server know we needed to get back to the office and asked for his recommendations. I enjoyed the fish tacos, a few salads were ordered and a cajun pasta. Everyone enjoyed their food, the quality of the fish in the fish tacos was very nice. Great corn relish, which they were nice enough to serve on the side for me in case of raw onion overload. (not an issue) and our checks were quickly settled. Our server was really attentive and appreciated our communication on our time limits. I'd go back again, without hesitation. I'd also split an order of the crazy good looking onion rings we saw passing by. Yum! We took soup back for a co worker and she was very happy with the Potato Soup.

I live in Springfield, MO for a few years and that's where/when I had my first Cheddar's experience, and it was awesome! 5 STARS++ When i found out they were building one in Sanford, I was ecstatic, I told everyone I knew about how great Cheddars was! Well, when they first opened up a few months ago I was there the first week... annnnnndddd.. it sucked. The service, the food, the whole experience was horrible. We got the wrong food, etc..etc..etc.. Well, we waited until May to go back to visit, at that time I would've given it a 3star, but we've been back once in June, then we went today in July, and it is finally a good restaurant. I understand that "stuff happens" occasionally, but overall Cheddars has been good and I would recommend it for a place where you can get away w/ spending $10 a plate instead of $15-$20 like the places around it. Also, they may have the best burgers in town! The chicken fingers are good and the new cheese bites appetizer is great!
(4)Mike S.
good time w/ the fam.1st time i've ever even heard of this place.....I had the ribs & shrimp and is was good, moderate pricing as well. I also had the tortilla soup which wasn't good at all...the rest of the family was satisfied as well.do they have bus boys? if so they are garbage....our server did a great job unless its her job to bus the table..cause our dirty plates sat on the table til we left
(4)Aileen A.
Everything about my experience was wrong. First they sat us at a table by the main foot traffic and nothing on our order was correct. I had such high standards for this place but it's more like a friendlys with good furniture. I would not go back for any reason.

Like most reviews here, my review will confirm this place definitely lacks what most of us go searching for when we sit down for dinner. The service is absolutely, ABSOLUTELY MISERABLE. It always takes FOREVER to be seated, which i can't justify knocking a star off for that, because you are make the decision to stay after being given the wait time. I have been to this restaurant a total of 4 times. I have had problems with each time except the first one which I had when they first opened. Drinks remain unfilled, orders don't come out with proper requests, any special request (i.e. lemon) will not be honored- bring your own, server attentiveness is nowhere to be find. You could drop your glass and break it, and they would just step over it and not bring you a new one. Management is full of excuses. Every time I've been there, there has always been a crisis- but don't worry, they aren't making excuses. The overall food quality is rather good. I would compare it to a Cracker Barrel homestyle food, but not as heavy. The atmosphere is great, it's a shame the service is so horrible. If you are willing to make multiple requests for drinks and/or special requests, send your food back at least once, and spend 2+ hours for one meal for 2 people- this place may work for you. If not, I'd recommend visiting any of the other restaurants that have opened nearby- Longhorn, Carrabbas or Red Robin.

My partner and I wanted to take our friend out to Cheddars after having a great experience at the Semoran location. Went on a Saturday night, had to wait 30 mins for a table (no complaints there). Got seated at a table and waited 10 mins for a server to even acknowledge us. Finally got drinks, ordered food and waited another 30 minutes for our food. My boyfriends food was cold so he sent it back. The food came back after "being warmed up". Shrimp in pasta can't really be warmed up so he sent it back without having dinner. Moments later the manager comes over and tells us they never warm food up, they always make it over. Our friends food was horrible as well. We all 3 said we would never return. The 1 star (that I had to give) is for the server who was very nice, just over worked.
(1)Jon M.
I've tried almost everything on their menu, but my favorite meal has to be the Chicken Pot Pie ! It comes with a salad and the portion size is perfect. The Fried Shrimp and Chicken Fingers are very good as well and the batter is nice and light. The drinks are tasty and very reasonable ! Highly recommend this place
(4)Alicia D.
Love love love it! The prices are very fair, the staff is always friendly and the food is delicious! I love the atmosphere and the restaurant is very nicely decorated and the bathrooms are very stylish!!! I'm very surprised at how low the prices are because I really feel like I get an excellent bang for my buck here!!! And the manager even stopped by and he was very friendly!!!
(5)Lana B.
I Love this place. The only problem is it is that it's always busy. This time I waited 15 minutes to get sat. The spinach dip is always my favorite but this time it came cold for the first time the waiter had no problem taking it back and bringing me a piping hot one. I got the vegetarian plate which came with four delicious sides a potato soup and a croissant which was all very delicious the waiters are always very friendly and funny. The alcohol is delicious and generously sized.
(5)Suzy G.
I came here a couple of times. The food here is great. The service was mediocre once, and good the rest. I felt kind of rushed and overwhelmed once, I'm assuming the server had too many tables and didn't know how to cover her frustration. Otherwise, great place!
(4)Zack M.
The food is great! Service is pretty friendly as well. The buffalo is a bit to spicy for my taste though. Everything else is great! Love the way they fry the food. My favorite chicken tenders I ever had thats for sure.
(4)Lou B.
The Good... Good value for what you get. Very cheap. Beautiful Restaurant. The Bad... Don't expect great service. It may because they are new. Servers are very young, and you can tell by their table manors, most of them have never served before. Would like to see a few older servers with more experience. But maybe that's all they could get in Sanford. We will go back tho... Enjoyed it.
(3)Todd W.
Service was nowhere to be found. Food was horrible. Liked the aquarium.

As part of a mixed use development, the area on St. Johns Parkway and Rhinehart Road will soon be playing host to Long Horn Steakhouse, Carrabba's, Buffalo Wild Wings and Central Florida's first Cheddar's Casual Cafe that recently opened. The neighborhood-style restaurant was founded in 1979 by Aubrey Good and Doug Rogers in Arlington, Texas and has more than 135 company owned and franchise locations in 23 states. Inside you will find an interior that includes solid cherry and walnut butcher block tabletops and cedar mill work with a granite bar top and a 400-gallon freshwater fish tank. Cheddar's serves steaks, chicken, seafood, burgers, salads and desserts, along with a full service bar in an 8000 square foot restaurant that can seat up to 288 guests. My wife ordered the Steak and Shrimp. This a center cut top sirloin that is supposed to be grilled to your liking, that comes with shrimp cooked any way you prefer. I say supposed to be, because.....apparently The folks at Cheddars newest location couldn't cook a steak properly if their life depended on it. The steak was ordered "Medium"---It came out blackened and burnt to a crisp....so it got sent back. Forty minutes later, they sent a steak that was actually burnt on the outside and raw in the middle....as in the cow was still mooing raw. How they managed that feat is pretty amazing. By the time we received the second steak, everyone at the table was done with their food, and sending it back a third time would have been futile. Our server did apologize, but we were offered no discounts in return for the terrible cuts of meat they tried to serve us repeatedly.

I am in love with their ribs. B loves their chicken fried chicken with mash taters and sausage gravy. Third time with ribs and they are finger locked fall off the bone good. Yuengling is on draft but not on menu...bonus. Texas margaritas is $4.29 and twice the size of anyone else's. great service. As well

I saw this restaurant open up and did not go immediately, purposly. Anyway, my waitress opened the conversation wih "Im busy". Clue number one. She could not handle a table of eight. So, she choose to totally ignore my party. We finally placed our order and had the salmon and shrimp. One and a half hours later we received our food. No garnishes, no sauce, no knives or forks no nothing. I had to push my glass over to the edge of the table to get her attention that I needed another drink. No luck. She would not look me in the eye. So, then I asked for the check and she said she was busy. Finally when the check came I reluctantly added a tip. No manager was available, the place was not full and nobody cared. This was my WORST restaurant experience I have ever had in my life. I also was an owner of five of my own restaurants in Europe. Also, the table behind me had to send their steak back three times. Total mismanagement. THIS IS A PLACE I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO AND WILL TELL EVERYONE IN LAKE MARY to also stay away..

Went again and had same impression as my first visit. When we entered the restaurant, a hostess and manager were conversing at the hostess stand. We stood there for a good two minutes before either acknowledged our presence at all. When the hostess sat us, she squeezed us past waiters taking orders instead of taking a clear path. My friend was brought the wrong order, and the waitress told us she had to argue with the cooks because they saw the name of the dish she rang up and made a different dish... and insisted that it was the right dish. The food is all frozen/canned/pre-packaged... it's Applebee's or Steak & Shake with a better atmosphere (it's the Olive Garden of American food). I won't refuse to go here with friends if they really want to, but I won't be excited about it.

Stay away! I went against the rules and judged this place by its cover. I wish I had listened to the reviews though. The Cheddars building is admittedly pretty on the inside. Even the inside is well decorated with a beautiful fish tank and a nice art structure in the middle. However, the food and service completely fails. This was my first and mostly likely only visit. I ordered the cheesesteak and the broccoli casserole as a side. The casserole wasn't horrible just not great. The broccoli was too mushy for me and the cheese sauce was a bit salty. However, the broccoli disappointment had nothing on the cheesesteak. The meat was overcooked. I'm pretty forgiving on that a majority of the time. The thing that made it inedible was the overwhelming salt. I almost never send food back because I'm pretty laid back. I also rarely review based on one visit. But I sent this back and requested they just add no salt whatsoever. After a long wait, I got my sandwich and again it tasted just as salty and just as overcooked. It was disgusting. I stress that I love salt so it definitely wasn't an issue of me being a salt wimp. I usually have to curb how much salt I put in food when cooking for others because of how much I like it. For something to be too salty for me means something. I'm not sure the waitress even cared that I did not enjoy the food and had to send it back. TL;DR Avoid this place! Don't let the pretty look make you think this place has good food. Their food, from my experience, tends to just be too salty and too overcooked.

Dined here on a Tuesday night around 8. Had about a 5 minute wait despite many tables appearing to be open. The service wasn't too bad, drinks took awhile to come (frozen margarita machine was down?) and the food was fair (had the grilled salmon). We also tried the cookie sundae. It was tasty, but it was basically two huge scoops of vanilla ice cream on a tiny bit of cookie. Overall, a pretty good value, but there's better choices around.

We arrived there Sunday at 6:30 pm waited 40 minutes to be seated another 30 for drink orders another 20 to get them. Then another 30 for food orders them 30 to be served the check took forever finished the meal at 9:30. The food is good but not worth the wait. Needs new management to speed things up
(1)Stephanie I.
Service is sloooooooooow. We waited for drinks for more than 30 minutes (2 margaritas and a manhattan) and watched them sit on the bar for more than 15 while the waitstaff huddled together and chatted and the bar back stared blankly at a TV. Ridiculous.

I would love to give this restaurant a much better rating than this but I simply can not. I have been here atleast 6 times and it always seems to go down the same path. When we arrive no matter what time it is it always seems to be like a 35-45 minute wait, most of the time it takes longer than they tell us. This is after driving around the parking lot for a few mins looking for a spot that they don't have which is only going to get worse since they are building 2 more restaurants next door. We decided to try it again last night and after a 35 minuet wait and finally sitting down we ordered our drinks and appetizers. Since I just got off a 12 hour shift I wanted something fast to eat well 25 mins later appetizers finally come out. Then about 10 mins later our food came out. Well the food is amazing which is why I rated this a 3 star otherwise would be lower. When we were finally ready to go because our babies were getting a little fussy since was way past bed time we asked for our checks to pay. Well the waitress decided to instead take the order of the new table before checking us out. These people decided to basically ask about everything on the menu so 15 mins later we finally were able to leave. This is unacceptable, we were trying to be good guest and leave before our children were too tired and caused a scene. It will truly take a lot for me to go back. It's sad when anytime someone ask about this place I say the food is good but the service suck, prepare to have a 2-3 hour meal.

Amazing food!!! Last night was our first time here. We have a autistic son who never ever clears his plate at any restaurant. He actually cleared his whole plate!!! Which shocked us! We will definitely be back for our birthday, and our anniversary!!! The food is amazing!
(5)Sam R.
The food is good! The kitchen is slowwwww. Been here in our table for 45 minutes just got served our appetizer! I'm guessing if you come be alone or a small table it seems to move quicker, we are a table of 8 when we got. Our food two plates were cold! All in all good food good prices but very slow service!

Terrible service. Cheap food. Franchise is put to a disgrace. Really disappointed. Been about 5 times and got up and walked out one of the times.

Had a really good experience here because we arrived at 9:45pm and didn't have to wait for seating. The kitchen and bar were not slammed so we got drinks and appetizer quickly. Our server, Danielle M., was patient and cheerful, liked her service style and she seemed genuinely enthusiastic that it was our first time here. We had the sampler appetizer with beef nachos, cheese sticks, and chicken fingers. This was huge, why did we get it?! It was good, nothing unique about it, but large portions and good for sharing with 3 or 4 people. For my entree I had the jalapeño burger and a side of mashed potatoes. The burger had a buttery toasted bun and breaded deep fried jalapeños, spicy and delicious. I tried a mini dessert strawberry cheesecake for $.99, it was just about a 3-bite dessert, perfect size. What I really liked about the place is that it was dark, cozy and a relaxed atmosphere. Reminded me of Seasons 52 or Houston's inside, lots of wood and brick walls with subdued lighting only on the tables. Next time I go (already planning to go back) I'll try the spiked cherry limeade and order a small meal. Overall a nice American style place with large portions.

Long review but PLEASE read for your safety if nothing else!! The first time we went to cheddars the restaurant was Beautiful! We loved the decor.. all was great until I got my baja chicken, it was nicely charred on the outside, but the inside was Completely raw, like cold raw chicken, it had to have been almost completely frozen when thrown on the grill to achieve that... the manager di'or apologized a lot and was very nice. We got desserts and my 3yr olds dessert had a 2 inch long piece of glass in it... thank GOD my husband took that bite and noticed the glass in his mouth which did cut his cheek resulting in him bleeding. At that point our meal was free and we left. Cheddars called us back saying they where so sorry and please come back and try again...so we did and we requested alex the server we had before because he was very nice...instead we were told he was busy, we told them we didnt.mind waiting and they insisted we give the other server a try... big mistake. barbie was her name and she was the devil. My chicken was ONCE AGAIN undercooked... seriously? Are you trying to kill people cheddars? I was telling bardie my food was undercooked and I was looking down at my plate when I hear her say what the f*ck ever and storm away.... she went into the kitchen and i.followed her into the kitchen and went off... yes I went into their dirty kitchen. The managers mouth dropped.... and that was my last time at this awful place. They could be a awesome place, beautiful interior and good prices... but it's soooo hit or miss and it misses mostly its not worth it. To many other choices very close by.

The good: You get a bang for your buck it truly is a lot of food for what you pay! And the few dishes I've tried including the desserts and drinks taste good. The atmosphere is good I love the look of the restaurant so warm and family friendly The BAD: The servers show to have little to none experience and their manners are horrible. Also when seated you wait a ridiculously long time to place and order then another long wait to receive your food. Aside from that I recommend to at least go try it I liked the food and atmosphere the only thing they need to fix is the service
(3)Hope R.
We didn't have to wait for a table for 4, but it was 30 min. to wait to receive our appetizer. The triple sampler had potato skins that looked as if someone had sat on them they were almost flat looking. The Cheese nuggets were good but, they were skimpy, hardly any on the plate and the chicken tenders, too. Only had 3 small pieces, but they tasted good. Our food arrived 30 minutes after that and all 4 entrees & sides were cold. The waitress took it all back and a manager visited our table to apologize, saying the food would be right out...it took another 20 minutes after that and some of the items were cold again. The broccoli casserole is poorly made and tasteless (and cold). It's liquid cheese poured over it and then sprinkled with crushed saltines, yuchhh! The service was pretty good, the waitress Chrissy was attentive and highly apologetic about the whole experience. We've all decided, collectively that we would never return although, I usually will try a restaurant 2 or 3 times before making that decision, but not in this case. Save your money!

Horrible experience! It was my first time there and I will NEVER go back. The only nice people was the host who walked us to our table. We had some waitress who is from New York (didn't get her name because she did not introduce herself). The first thing that came out of her mouth was "We close in an hour just to let you know" like ok? We did our research before going. She was TERRIBLE... I am not even trying to exaggerate. We placed our orders and she came back to our table to say that what we wanted was not available because they start to throw away the food at 10, which is such a lie. Why would a restaurant start throwing away food at 10 when they close at midnight? Then when we ordered something new and she said they had it and would come back to the table and say they didn't have it so...she just decided to bring us Mac & cheese. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? what if we were allergic to something in the Mac and cheese? How do you just make a decision for us without even asking? We then confronted her on how this is so frustrating and she started getting SO defensive with SUCH an attitude! We ended up just leaving... so there's that.

I cannot believe I am giving a chain restaurant 4 stars; I rarely eat at chains and even more rare are the times when I enjoy the experience. A good evening out always comes down to great service and we had a better than great server. Wish I could remember his name and give him a shout out! He was efficient, attentive, friendly, everything you want from a server. (5+ stars) I ordered a cocktail (unusual start for me) and it was delicious - Texas Sweet Tea (5 stars). I had the chicken and shrimp with pineapple salsa which was good (3 stars). The only other negative was the long delay to be seated (40 minutes) and the 30+ minutes to get the food (which the server handled very well) While I would prefer to try a locally owned option next time I am in the area, I would not be opposed to going here again.
(4)Robert M.
4th time here, always has been a good experience. Wait time can be very high if you get here a bit later in the dinner rush. We arrived at about 4:45 on a Saturday and we're able to sit right down. By the time we left there was a line out the door. One thing that concerns me is that the floors are really slippery, this is something that the rest of my family pointed out as well. Perhaps they need to address this before someone falls. I would hope that they clean the floors nightly because this could be a sign of some cleanliness issues. If this happens over the course of each day then I suppose that is just the way it is then.

First time to visit a Cheddars and was pleasantly surprised. Place was packed and had a 15-20 minute wait. We were called in 1/2 time ( nice surprise) and our server was very friendly. For an appetizer my husband ordered the Onion Rings and said they may be the best he had ever had. They definitely were NOT greasy! Our Dinner, was eventful, due to a few things getting dropped/spilled, and what would normally be a huge disappointment was quickly addressed by our server and manager on duty. We will definitely come back!

My wife and I tried this place again and we will not be going back for a third try. Service was slow, she had no clue what was going on. We order potatoe skins, they came out Luke warm, cheese was not even melted. Cheese looked like it was processed America cheese. Let's just say that we took one bite and did not take another, we sent those back. My wife got the lunch combo with half a club sandwich and soup. Soup was again Luke warm. I got the full club and a side of fries. Now that I think about it, I don't think our sandwiches even had cheese on them. My fries were not hot, what a surprise. Don't waste your time going here, there are plenty of other restaurants in the area that offer better service and higher quality food.

Was pleasantly surprised by this establishment. We went during lunch hour, the place was packed and yet there was no wait and the atmosphere was inviting and not too loud. Our waitress was presentable, neat and clean and well mannered. The food tasted great! The prices were lower than either of us anticipated. My only complaint would be that my loaded backed potato didn't come loaded.

I had a very good experience during my first time at this particular location of Cheddar's. The wait was 45 mins. to an hour for a table around 6pm. However, we were able to be seated in the bar area at a table with no wait! That was a pleasant surprise. The manager greeted us right away and told us what to expect during our dining experience. He was right on target too, as our food arrived hot and exactly as ordered. We ordered sides of red beans and rice, broccoli - rice casserole, and entrees of fried shrimp and New Orleans Pasta. Everything was tasty except for the Strawberry Lemonade. It was extra, extra sweet. Too much of a sugar rush for me. Service was just fine. I hope the Yelp star rating of Cheddar's will increase.

This place is always packed, and after two visits, I fail to see why. The first time we went, I just ordered an appetizer of cheese fries. So many things on their menu didn't look good to me so I played it safe. I asked for no bacon, it came back with bacon. Well, when they brought it back, it had just been scraped off, had a bit more cheese thrown on top (not melted) and that was the remedy. It was cold, nasty, and covered in bacon grease. I was disgusted and didn't even eat it. The second time I went was because my husband begged me to give it another chance. I got the New Orleans pasta. It was cold, and except for the paprika, it had zero flavor. I'm not a picky eater, so if you can't please me, it's really awful. The service the first time wasn't bad, except that the waitress gave our bank card to another table who did not turn it in so we had to cancel our card and deal with the bank for a less than stellar meal. The second time we had an awful waiter who never brought refills, spent more time flirting with the bartender than waiting tables, and spilled blood from a steak down my shirt because he wasn't paying attention to his tray. Needless to say, a third visit from me will NEVER happen.

Really good food and good service. Nice atmosphere. Onion rings were great as was the Monte Cristo! Yum!

This week we enjoyed Sunday lunch at Cheddar's! Despite many of the negative reviews we have seen on Yelp, we have visited the Sanford location several times over the past three months and always had excellent food at a fair price along with service that has been acceptable considering the individual circumstances. On our last visit, we came at the worst possible time (Friday evening) and had to wait for almost an hour. Once seated, we were served courteously and correctly. Some of this congestion will ease when the new locations open later this year in other parts of the Orlando metro area. Since we live in the OIA area, that will cut down on 50 miles of driving for my Monte Cristo or chicken fried chicken dinner.
(5)Mitzi K.
The food is good but the service is lacking. It shouldn't take over 2 hours for 2 adult meals and 2 kids meals. I was excited to see Cheddars, but this one does not live up to the others I've been too . Really sad!!!

We came in tonite for dinner, after passing by many times and noticing so many cars. I enjoyed a Dijon and mushroom chicken dinner, over rice, that was delightful. My husband had a fish over rice with salad that was tasty and generously portioned. Their chicken tortilla soup was snappy and fresh. The inside is brick and dark wood, and much larger than I expected. It was a 10 minute wait for a table for two at 5:00 pm on a Saturday nite. Two meals, sodas, and a soup and the bill was 25.00 dollars. Good deal.

Austin (server) - great service, upbeat attitude. Jalepeno burger - great taste, love the fried jalapeños. Shepherds Pie -- hearty meal, very filling. Too much butter in the potatoes, in my opinion. Fish tacos - fried, big pieces than the usual small pieces in other restaurants. Onion rings (appetizer) - wish there was more flavoring in the batter, tasted plain. Different kind of batter style, which was interesting. Overall, everything tasted good but there could've been extra flavoring that would've made it stand out. Prices are decent for the size of the dishes.

If there was a zero I would have rated it at zero. Don't waste half of your day waiting for your food or a seat...or BOTH!!!! Only to then be told by a "manager" that they make everything from scratch...which is hardly the case, considering the mushy green beans that oddly look like a particular green giants green beans straight out of the can...So, if you want to tell me everything is made from scratch and mistake me for an idiot of which I am not! After lying to our faces and waiting even longer our food came out wrong!!! Only for the same "manager" to bring out more peasy canned vegetables!!!! Our meal was all finished up with our FULL prices bill!!!! AVOID the headaches and go to any of the other restaurants!!!
(1)Rosanne K.
Decor is beautiful but so far very disappointed. Told 10-15 min wait... Waited 30... Then sat and it's been 15mins with no waiter :( Told the hostess and still left waiting.

They opened recently so my wife and I decided to give it a try. We waited a long time and after it arrived, we both had to return our food-hers was cold and mine was barely warm (waitress was so slow). We waited again. This time much better. Food was okay, nothing special. We then ordered food to go. The waitress brought the bill asking about dessert and we said "no just the to go food" and she said -while taking away the bill, "oh yes let me check on that". We are not stupid, she forgot to put the order in. Just like she forgot to check on our food that sat in the kitchen getting cold and to see if we wanted another drink. To-go food came and the waffle was a brick. We asked for another one. Well guess who forgot again. The manager was useless. I know they are new but have some experienced managers and waiters that know what the heck they are doing so they can help the new employees.

I love going to places that have nothing but bad reviews and proving them wrong. This is not one of those places where I can do that. The service is just as bad as everyone says it is. I came with my wife around 6:15. That's around the dinner rush, so I expected a bit of a wait. Well, we waited for almost an hour and 15 minutes. Once seated, we had no signs of a waitress for another 15 minutes or so. Finally a younger girl came and took our drink orders, then right before we gave up on ever quenching our thirsts, she finally returned with them. We both ordered simple enough stuff. Two cheese burgers, nothing special. You can only get burgers cooked medium-well. Not a problem for me, because that's my standard order, but my wife is pregnant and asked if they could cook it more because she was afraid to have any pink in the meat with the pregnancy. The waitress assured us they could, and after probably 45 minutes, our burgers came out. Food was right, but my burger was definitely more than medium-well. It was almost well done. I love a little pink, so I was a little disappointed. My wife's on the other hand was way undercooked. Like, medium- rare, at most. We ended up just switching burgers and that was that. Manager visited our table and seemed nice but scared we were gonna bite him or something. I mean, I do pack a mean bite, but how'd he know that? So summary: 1) All in all, the whole process from walking in to walking out took almost 2 and a half hours. That's a long time for dinner at a restaurant. 2) Food order was correct, but not cooked properly. 3) Food temp was fine, but taste was nothing to rave about. 4) Waitstaff was friendly, but as could be derived from #1, they were very slow. And they were also very timid like they were all afraid of the customers. I definitely think for most of them, this is a first job.
(2)Robert B.
This place is very nice inside. Lots of stone work there. Please READ THE REVIEWS POSTED BEFORE YOU EAT THERE!!! The service is beyond slow, if it was any slower, there wouldn't be any. Drink refills? Forget it! After you are seated, there's a 15 minutes wait to be served, even after you server has walked by twice. Burgers are cheap, decent, only cooked well done, beware! Potato skins were decent, chicken fingers have absolutely no flavor. Takes about an hour and a half at lunch time. Ridiculous.
(1)Ayshea H.
So happy they opened a Cheddars out here. I always enjoyed eating there when I was living in Texas. My table was lucky we had a good waiter after seeing all of the bad reviews on service. I hope that Cheddars will eventually improve on their service; they are a good Restaurant with big portions for the price you pay. Love the spinach dip!

Ok....this restaurant has been open for a couple of weeks by the time we stopped in. It a Wednesday (July 31), at exactly 5 p.m. It was already fairly busy inside but we didn't have to wait for a table. Hostess was friendly and in a good mood. We were seated at a booth (at our request), our server stopped over quickly and took our drink orders. I asked about their gluten free menu, and she said she had to go look. They don't have a printed gluten free menu. Ok...they're still new (although I found out later that they have a lot of restaurants across the country so they really need to get with it). As I waited for her to come back with their gluten free options, I perused the menu to see what I could have. Not much, as it turns out. She came back and told me pretty much what I already knew....I would be eating steak and veggies. That's fine. I eat steak and veggies a lot. My husband ordered the jalapeño burger and I order the 8 oz sirloin with broccoli and carrots. We also ordered cocktails. I had the Yellowtail Chardonnay and my husband had a whiskey with diet and lime. (they don't have happy hour here) When the food came out, I was surprised to see my steak and veggies sitting on top of a mound of breaded and fried onion straws. I told the guy that brought it out (not our server) that I could not eat that food. I need to eat gluten free and I had told our server that. I made sure he knew that my food couldn't just be re-plated, I needed all new food and a new plate. I told him that I was really afraid the kitchen would just re-plate. He assured me that he wouldn't let that happen. He came back and let me know that he threw out the food so the kitchen couldn't just re-plate and I was very grateful for that (although I guess it would have been cool if someone in the kitchen got to eat it). As my husband ate his burger (which he really enjoyed) I waited for my food. When it came out, the steak was WAY underdone. I had ordered it medium and it was close to rare. I'm sure they were just trying to get my food out fast but ....no good. So....I had to send it back AGAIN. By the time it came back it was tough and mealy. Not very tasty at all. I'm not sure it was even seasoned. The broccoli was unseasoned as well but the carrots were DELICIOUS!! Very sweet, obviously cooked with sugar or brown sugar. Very good. So, all in all, I'm not sure if we'll go back to this place. There aren't many options for someone that needs to eat gluten free. The service is still pretty spotty....so you might want to wait awhile until they get things under control.

This place could be really good, but they seem to have a management problem, as many other reviews have noted. The food is ok and the restaurant itself is very nice, but the service always seems to be WAY below par. If there was ever a restaurant that could benefit from an upgrade in management, this one is it.
(1)Kara O.
We love this place! The portions are really big, and so far I've really liked everything I've tried!!! I've had the shepherds pie, fish tacos, smokehouse burger, and the beef stew. I've ordered a few if them over & over. The fish tacos were awesome! First of all, they give you 2 tacos that aren't those little, dinky kind. I ordered the fish fried, and I was blown away at how large they were. They also put some kind of slaw on the tacos. Yum....I'm making myself hungry just thinking about it. Great kid portions as well. The ONLY downside so far is the wait time. It averages from 20-45 mins depending on the day, and it always seems busy.
(5)Crystal G.
Service was horrible, long wait waitress horrible, food tasted like it was frozen and reheated. Will never go there again
(1)Ron P.
The Sanford Cheddar's has gone downhill since opening. The last two times eating at this location, there under the table was food, napkins and other stuff left by previous diners. Tonight was the last straw! We had a roach join us at the table during our meal and one running across the booth seat. We brought it to the manager's attention and his comment was they have problems with roaches here in Florida and will call the exterminator tomorrow. I have been in Florida for most of my life, but rarely have I had roaches visit me at my table. If roaches are running around in the dining room can you imagine the kitchen? May be calling the health department tomorrow.

Went for lunch with my mom and 1-year-old son. Atmosphere was good, we liked the menu. But service was slow, and it took way too long to get our food. The quality of the food was fine, and they accommodated my mom's sodium-restricted diet. Overall, we weren't pleased with our lunch because it took an hour and a half. Disappointing.
(2)Suzie P.
Service is still very poor. Waitress took our orders and we never saw her again. Drinks are never refilled which is serving 101. When the food came we asked the gentleman if we could get drink refills and he told us no but if we needed anything with our food he could get it. We asked if he could get our waitress and he said if he saw her. My food tasted like it was reheated. Baked potato was cold. Chicken tenders were cold and chewy. Manager came over and apologized started giving excuses telling us she was brought in to fix things etc. Fine and dandy but I don't want excuses. After a downward fall into abominable this is the end for Cheddar 's and I.
(1)Danielle B.
Everything was yummy. We had the Chicken and Waffles, Ribs and a Jalapeño Burger. Quick wait (only 20 minutes on Mothers Day at 12:30 PM), good service and fantastic prices!
(4)Leanne K.
Good food. Prices great! Service can be slow...but it's always been packed when we've been there so that explains it & it's never been anything serious - simply busy servers so they aren't super quick. Food has always been correct & tasty. Drinks are fabulous & cheap too!

My experience at Cheddar's was so awful, it's comical. Seriously, I relay the experience of the worst service ever and get lots of laughs at their expense. It was Girls Night Out, a show and dinner. My party of 4 arrived at Cheddar's around 9pm on a Friday night. We were seated fairly quickly, though the restaurant was busy. Our server took our drink orders and left. He was visibly stressed, telling us that he was exhausted after working a double shift. I suppose this was to justify the extremely long periods of time between visits to our table. We ordered the delicious honey croissants (which is where the 2nd star was earned) and preceded to wait for our appetizer and salads. We waited. And waited. And waited. He visited us again to ask us which salad dressings we ordered again. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Yes! He returns with 2 (out of 4) bowls of salad with NO dressing, telling us "Don't fight over these salads. We don't have any plates in the back. I actually had to wash these dishes myself and I'm not supposed to do that." Well, sir, you probably aren't supposed to tell your patrons that you washed their dishes. When I'm eating out, I don't want to think about the people washing my plates and utensils in the back. That's why they are in the kitchen and not in the middle of the restaurant. He did not bring the dressing because he forgot what kind we wanted, though he asked us multiple times. We told him that we probably wouldn't be fighting over any salad without dressing because that is really an essential component to any salad. Ha ha. He laughs. And doesn't bring us any salad dressing. When he returns with 2 more bowls of dry salad, he tells us that we should come back again around 4 or 5 when they aren't as busy to be sure that they have enough dishes for our food. Um. Ok, dude. Or, maybe you need to talk to your manager about buying more dishes. Eventually, our dressing came, as did our food, though he forget to bring our appetizer of honey croissant rolls. I can't really tell you how the food was because I was so distracted by the awful service. It must not have been too phenomenal if I don't remember anything about the meal itself.
(2)Tony P.
The food is good but the service is super slow. I know it's new, but I think everyone they hired has no experience. I went twice just to be sure and the service was actually worse the second time. I'll go back, but not for awhile. I'll let them get through the growing pains first. On the positive, good value and good mixture of choices. They'll figure it out.
(3)Gary M.
I went here when it first opened up, but the service was so bad and disorganized, I decided to go back months later and see if they have fixed the problems. The result- no. Lunch orders shouldn't take 45 min to get. The food is just ok here, and I find it odd that a restaurant cuts you off after only having two drinks. The service staff always seems out of sorts, and this place knows nothing about time management at lunch time.

You may want to find another restaurant in the area. We waited a reasonable time to be seated, but once we ordered the food, it took about thirty minutes before it was placed on the table. About five minutes before we were finally served, the manager appeared after we complained to the server. He apologized and said he would deliver the food himself, but he did not. He also offered nothing in return to the poor service. I will not return.

Tonight had the Chicken Fried Chicken. Omg I was so surprised how yummy this was. The chicken was boneless and very tender. Also the mashed potatoes were great and was like home made. They make everything fresh here so its worth it. Prices are low but food is great. Our server was also spot on. Will ne back again soon for sure.

Went here for the first time last night. I ordered the lemon pepper chicken with loaded mashed potatoes and green beans. The chicken was alright. The potatoes came with sour cream, cheese, and gravy on the side. They certainly weren't loaded though and perhaps overly seasoned. The green beans were gross and I switched them out for corn. We sat at the bar so the service was good. My meal came out to be $11. The decor was really nice but I'm afraid that's all I paid for. Now I'm sitting at home and I'm nauseous. I don't think I'll be going back again.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch today because we love the Cheddar's in Valdosta. However that was NOT the case here. I cannot speak to the food because we didn't even make it that far through the experience. We came in after the lunch rush and were sat almost immediately. At the table next to ours was what appeared to be our waitress chatting with her customers about how great Daytona state college is. Although we made eye contact multiple times she, nor anyone came to greet us or take our drink order for well over 15 minutes. Hence our immediate exit. On the way out we tried to ask for a manager, but alas all we could find was an abandoned, backed up hostess station.

The reviews kept me away but my wife went and enjoyed it and has been trying to get me to go so I finally gave in. We visited for lunch and were there early so I don't know if I can truly dispel the service issues but we had absolutely no service issues. The service was good and the food came out very quick. The place is great looking inside. Only four stars just because I thought the food was good, but not outstanding. I would definitely visit again, but probably not at a prime time until I see better service reviews.

Worst service ever by a witch named Barbie. I call her doomsday Barbie. She was so rude! She yanked the bill out of my friends hand and was so rude it was comical at a point. The food sucked so bad. Two hours on a Saturday to have lunch. We asked for a manager and was told "they only hire the best!" It's sad because this is my second time and both times sucked! I would give no stars if I could.

Very disappointing. Service wasn't great but we're not picky. However the food was very bland and boring. Most tasted like it was just reheated frozen foods. I wanted to like it because it's close and the atmosphere is nice so we may try again some day but it's hard after an experience like that.

AMAZING service! 45 minute wait on this cold Florida Friday, but with the 'first come, first serve' bar service we were able to get a table right away (with a watchful eye on who was leaving and who wasn't of course lol.) When we first sat down an employee came right over to clear and clean off the table for us. He was super friendly and even brought us our menus regardless of the fact that he would not be waiting on us tonight. We were lucky enough to have Stuart as our waiter tonight and he was more than fabulous. Super friendly and checked on us very often with refills and order updates. Even with the surrounding tables his great customer service never failed to display. He was definitely on his game and for a busy Friday night, we were more than impressed. The food was very good and fresh. My step dad raved over the ribs! They're menu offers a good variety and would definitely consider this a good "go-to" restaurant when I'm just looking for something good to eat, but nothing fancy. Overall we will definitely be back.
(5)Toni S.
We ordered sirloin, ribs, onion rings & sides. All look great till we bit in to an iceberg. Sent all back and got apologies from management. They refired all. Baked potato was hot, steak over cooked, ribs colder, onion rings over cooked. MARGARITAS were great, bartender the best.

My husband and I have never been to a Cheddar's before, so we were excited to try it. As locals, our friends had warned us how terrible their experiences were, but we wanted to give it a try anyways... mistake #1. When we first walked in I was pleasantly suprised by the friendly hostess, the decor, and the gorgeous salt water aquarium. Those are probably the only reasons I would even give this restaurant 2 stars, without them, maybe a half star at best. Our server was very nice, as was the rest of the staff. But efficiency is not their goal, nor doing any work in general. We waited about 10-15 mins to order a soda, so we also ordered food at the same time, sensing timely service was not in their mindset. Our sodas came out fairly promptly, but the 2 burgers we ordered took about 45 mins to come out.... on a THURSDAY night with a half full restaurant. The food was mediocre at best. We asked for our check with our food, which still somehow ended up taking another 40 mins to check us out. And for the record a loaded baked potato includes butter, sour cream, cheese, AND chives, and bacon. Well I guess they got 3 out of 5 of them. I've worked in many restaurants, and usually poor service coincides with being understaffed. However, this was not the case at Cheddar's. There were tons of useless staff just aimlessy wandering around and serving no purpose. I'd be eager to see the efficiency on this restaurant for labor.... absolutely absurd restaurant. We should have gone to Steak N Shake.

I am surprised to see this restaurant has so many negative reviews. My wife and I have eaten here five or six times. The prices of food are relatively cheap compared to the portions. We have ordered something different every time we went. Many items on the menu to choose from. Our food has always been good and our orders correct. Service has been great every time except for once but the restaurant was really busy. There is usually a 30-45 minute wait to be seated but we do go on the weekends for dinner.

do yourself a favor and don't eat here unless you enjoy the WORST SERVICE IN FLORIDA. food is good. price is good. service is non existent. the staff is friendly, They JUST SUCK AT THEIR JOB. forgot soup forgot to bring condiments twice asked. and my meal came out 30 min before my girlfriend's meal. and it took an hour to get the first meal. Absolutly rediculous. it was just chicken tenders. How F*&^ing long does it take to fry chicken tenders? This place needs experienced management and servers and cooks. I wont be back until I see some Legit reviews on here saying the service has improved.

The worst service ever. After wanting to for awhile, we decided to try out Cheddar's tonight because it always looks packed so we figured it must be pretty good! Let me preface this by saying we are very laid back and low maintenance people and we don't have super high expectations. The service at this place was TERRIBLE! We waited about 10 minutes for a booth which I thought was reasonable considering how busy it always looks. (Although I did see about 4-5 empty booths, not sure why we weren't seated there) Once we were seated, we sat there for 10-15 minutes with no one greeting us or taking our drink orders. Finally, I stopped one of their busboys and asked if he could find our waiter/waitress. He asked what he/she looked like. Good question! He apologized for the wait and went to find somebody. 5 minutes later our waitress comes out (who, by the way, passed us about 20 times while we sat there waiting for someone to come by the table, so it's not like she didn't know we were there) and with no apology, took our order. I ordered a beer with dinner and she informed me that it would come out separately because the bar would need to bring it to me. Our appetizer comes out and my boyfriend gets his tea and 10 minutes later, still no beer! Finally, I walk over to the bar and stood there for 3-4 minutes being completely ignored by both girls behind the bar. One of them then asks if I want a menu. Um, no, I want the beer I've been waiting for. She hands me a warm beer that's been sitting on the counter and says, "Oh, this one?" I ask for a frosty mug. I told the waitress I had to go get the beer myself and she tells me that it was their fault, not hers. Ugh. We noticed the people in the booth next to us seemed irritated with the service and were making gestures as if to say, "where is our waitress!?" And we looked out the window and their waitress was wandering around in the parking lot! Okay, enough about the service- food was decently priced and was pretty good. Not great, but good. But, seriously, no food is worth that service. I hear other Cheddar's locations are good but because of our experience with this one, we'll never go back.

After several aborted attempts to go to Cheddars due to large crowds and long waits, we finally dined there this evening. The food was mediocre at best; the service was terrible. The waiter didn't know the menu. I asked if I could have a sample of the soup but he had never heard of that. He said to order it and just not keep it if I didn't like it. My husband was served an entree he didn't order. My friends got their salads but my soup came with the entrees and was cold to boot. The restaurant is noisy to the point where you cannot carry on a conversation with table mates. Between below average quality of food and lack of service, we will not be going back.

Awful experience. Waited an hour when we were told it was a half hour wait. The restaurant is new and super busy, but understaffed and not enough food! They were out of several specialty drinks and several of their main dishes. What would've been a 50$ dinner ended up being 11$. Since they were out of so many dishes we ended up ordering a bowl of soup and a plain house salad. It still took an hour to get our food. Our server was sweet and apologetic. No manager stopped by to apologize or check on our experience. When we were leaving we noticed 4-5 of the servers were hanging out at tables with their friends who had apparently come in to visit. Beautiful restaurant with great potential. Needs better management and trained servers pronto!

We waited a few months after this place opened because we knew they would need to get into the swing of things. And we are glad we did! I've been reading the horrible reviews since the place opened, so we had our expectations. But were pleasantly surprised with an excellent experience! We did have to wait 20 minutes for our table on a Thursday night. But no big deal, we headed to the bar to grab a drink. Once we got our table the service was quick the excellent! The croissants are to die for!!!!!!!! I ordered the miso salmon with basmati rice and steamed broccoli which was delicious, and my fiancé got he chicken fried steak with some of THE BEST mashed potatoes we've ever had! The manager even came over and chatted with us for a moment just to make sure our experience was going great! Give it a shot! I think it's going I contribute to get even better from here!

Don't mistake the long wait for a table as a sign this is a great restaurant. It is not. The wait is long because the service is awful. The friendly staff doesn't have a clue about the operations of a restaurant this size. Our party of 6 arrived at 9:00pm and left at midnight. We waited for a table. We waited for our drinks. We waited for our server to take our order. The problem has to be more than the inexperienced wait staff. A disorganized kitchen and poor management must contribute to the overall service failure. Although we were pleased with the portion sizes and presentation of the food, the taste and quality can only be described as average. The onion rings appetizer had a nice buttermilk batter that was not too greasy. While the Shepard's Pie was not even close to authentic, it was still a flavorful something. The BBQ Chicken Salad has surprisingly little chicken and the dressing lacked flavor. There is nothing about the food at this restaurant that separates it from it competitors - Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday, etc.. The saving grace for this place is the price. Entrees are quite reasonable. Alcoholic beverages for less than $4 is a welcome surprise.

Called for take out order on Mother's day afternoon they had the order ready on time and it was correct awsome job

This place has a chance to be great. However, they Need to work out some kinks. The first time I came here it was like 2 weeks old. So it was packed but we got great service and the food was good. I had the country fried streak and Texas cheese fries(delicious). This time today was not so great. Our food came out before our drinks. The waiter visited us once the whole meal.I got the jalapeños burger which was good and my friend got the monte cristo sandwich but he didn't finish it cause he said it was too doughy. The prices are really good here but some people might not care if it means sacrificing good customer service.

Short 10 minute wait; beautiful restaurant and great waitress! The prices were very reasonable!! We had onion rings for an app and they were hot and crispy! I ordered the spiked cherry limeade and it tasted just like the Sonic version but with a kick! Delicious! The kids had lemon pepper chicken with edamame side and a burger with fries! Clean plates :-) Hubs had the pot roast and gave it a 9 out if 10! The plate was loaded and hot! He said the only reason it got a 9 was because it could have used a roll. I had the citrus salmon and it was fantastic with one exception, I am not a fan of rice. Very pleased with the under 50.00 bill for a family of 4 with full tummies! Can't wait to go back to try more!!!

food is OK. if you ask for their specialties they've run out of them they cannot keep up with the food and customer base Customer service is slow
(2)Jason H.
Great food and drinks with unbelievable prices. Service has also gotten better since they opened. Beautiful building as well. Love it!
(5)Dave B.
Ok so lets be honest. Based on the past reviews we we hesitant to give it a try but we did. The atmosphere is great. Nice decor and colors. Now keep in mind it is very new and yes the service needs fine tuning. A bit confused server but very courteous. Didnt hear our app order which i caught and corrected. Almost gave our food to the wrong table. After all that I can see inexperience and thats ok I can understand completely. Now as far as the food, nothing to make me say WOW we need to go back. No stand out items just basic fare. We both agreed that we would go back if someone wanted to go but missed the WOW factor for us. Something as simple as fries were disappointing. The wait for lunch was aporx 20-25 mins we were told but turned out to be only about 10-15mins , if it had been longer we would not have waited. So in a nut shell food was average and service is a work in progress at this point.
(3)Christopher D.
My experience at cheddars was ridiculous took 45 min to be seated when the wait time was 25 min. My waiter was not knowledgable about the menu and frankly he was an idiot we saw him 2 times during the entire meal then he got my order wrong so I waited another 15 minutes to get my food while everyone else was finished. All the other waiters were walking around like chickens with their heads cut off the staff was poorly trained and to top it all off the food was mediocre at best. I will never go there again.

Not worth it. I've heard from a few people that this was a good place to eat, so my husband and I tried it for dinner one night. When we got to the restaurant it was pretty packed but only waited about 30 minutes or so...pretty good considering the amount of people that were there that night. By the time we were seated we already knew what we wanted so we ordered drinks, appetizers and our meals as soon as we met our waitress. The drinks took 25 minutes to arrive, and even then we had to ask twice for water to go with our drinks. My husband's drink was wrong too. Another 30 minutes later, we get our food. When we asked the waitress for our appetizer, she acted completely shocked that we hadn't gotten it yet, but then quickly mentioned that they were out of nachos, which was what we ordered. She never came back after that, but another waiter came and brought us our appetizer when we were just about finished with our meals. We were full by then and didn't want it anymore, but he left it at the table anyway. The food was barely warm despite taking nearly an hour to get to our table, and it wasn't very good either. I had the steak and shrimp. The shrimp was breaded and dripping with grease, and my steak was dry and dull. My husband got ribs and steak and said the same thing about his meal. We're really hoping we just had a bad waitress. We're also trying to give the kitchen the benefit of the doubt because there were so many people there that night. I'm pretty sure they were swamped back there. Hopefully it will be better if we ever visit again, but our first experience was horrible.

I drove all the way from Orlando to Sanford ISO food that was to die for. Judging by the masses of people who were waiting to get served outside I was not the only one. Our waitress was swapped. We had to ask for napkins more than once. Our appetizer chips and queso had mostly broken up chips in it. The queso was luke warm but good. The cups and dishes piled up on the table. My BF's mom's food came out first before everyone which I suppose it better than it coming out cold. My food was substituted. I ordered half soup and sandwich. I ordered grilled chicken because I cannot have cold cuts unless they are cooked to kill the germs since, I am pregnant. I ate half the cold cut sandwich before I realized it was the wrong thing. Then I had to wait for what I really ordered half hungry everyone gave me some of their food. No one else had problems or complained about their food everyone else was satisfied I thought I should point that out to be fair. We were a party of 7. Also their prices are really good. And I loved the decor. The bathroom was out of paper towels which I find to be annoying. I personally would not drive back here for the food. There are plenty of better places in Orlando. Would have given 3 stars if not for the BS mishaps that I went through.

This place gets busy fast. But it's so worth it. Prices are excellent. If you don't mind waiting a few minutes to get seated you will enjoy.
(4)SandJ K.
First visit, wanted to see why it was so busy. Decided it was a vast menu of modestly priced comfort food. Our server, tried very hard but new and ill-trained. At the end of our meal every single dish and glass from the whole meal was still on the table. She was so friendly though that we had no issue as she tried very hard and was pleasant. Food was inexpensive for the portion size. Wife had ribs, they were fatty and laced with pepper (pepper??). Sides were luke warm and average. I had tenders, they were good but we're talking just plain ol' tenders. Red beans and rice was spicy glop. Rings were hot and fresh but kind of flavorless. So 2.5 stars for the server who tried, 2-3 for the food. I would give this place -100 stars for the worst part and the one that will keep us from ever returning: A busboy (who clowned around talking to himself while not doing any work...see above, dishes piled all over our table) took his rag that was in his bus-tub and handed it to the waitress who wiped the table next to ours and then used it to clean the inside of the ketchup cap, including all around the opening. GROSS. We asked to speak to a manager on the way out and some bored/hassled goof listened half-heartedly to our recommendation that people be trained not to use bus-rags to wipe food containers. Rather than apologize, ask who it was, ask which table now had the contaminated, gross ketchup..he kind of shrugged and said "thanks for letting me know", turned around and walked away. NOPE...won't go back.

Had the club sandwich today. It was average, nothing special and my wife had the salmon and she thought her sandwich was nothing special. The restaurant was crowded and the decor was very nice. Service was good , we waited several minutes for our food which was normal. Our waitress was nice and pleasant . On a scale of 1-5 it's a 3. Remember this was a one time visit and things could change.
(3)Nick F.
Food is fair at best....however, service is terrible. Bar area is a disaster, nothing gets put away, never wash hands, uniforms are dirty and unkept. Servers don't listen to what is ordered so wrong meals delivered. Slow and show a real lack of adequate training.

I am always excited when a new restaurant opens up in my neighborhood, especially when it is one that I am not familiar with. Following Cheddar's opening, I heard a lot of mixed reviews on both the quality of the food and service. Unfortunately this kept me away for several months. I finally decided to try it and am happy to say that I did. Their menu is amazing - they have everything from burgers to steaks to pasta and interesting dishes like spasagna (lasagna made with spaghetti) and Shepard's pie. We started out with the onion ring appetizer which is huge and only cost about $4.49. The batter on the onion rings was amazing. I ordered Shepard's Pie which was also very good. The portion sizes are large and the prices are extremely reasonable with entrees averaging between $8 and $9. Our server was amazing. She was definitely a well seasoned server and made recommendations from the menu for our next visit. I would recommend ignoring the negative reviews on this restaurant due to the fact that it is new and has likely had the normal growing pains of any new establishment and try it for yourself. I will definitely be returning in the near future.

I had hopes because it was busy. My guess it is the case of a new place in town Hostess was friendly. That is where it stops. All the servers seem unhappy including ours. Food was mediocre bar food with a southern twist. Skip thesuper sampler. All was rated a 2 out of 10. Margarita good, Chicken and waffle was ok. The waffle was hard not the fluffy, golden waffle you hope for, chicken tenders on top were fine. Rated 5 out of 10. My husband had ribs. He said they tasted boilrd first and and the taste of cracked pepper. Rated 5 out of 10. My sons meal was cold. Overall rating, not going back. Typed in car if typos.

We went back for our third visit. 45 mon wait to get a table but the good and service made up for it. They must have made some management changes. We will be back
(5)amy f.
This is my new favorite restaurant. The food is homemade, delicious, and inexpensive; very good variety. Our waiter wasn't very attentive, but the food came out quick and is better and cheaper than going to other restaurants; bigger portions too. We got seated right away, it was a weekday.
(4)Dave M.
Food is good not great but its an excellent value and nice atmosphere. Service is slow but they're going through the growing pains. I've been there twice and plan on going back

I was introduced to Cheddars in Kentucky visiting family and it has become one of my favorite places to eat. Anytime we are on vacation we tend to drive the extra miles to reach the closest Cheddars location. The honey Dijon chicken is the best meal on the menu and I'm so glad to see a location open close to home! The prices are a little high for someone on a budget, but definitely worth the expense for special occasions.
(5)Shannon R.
Mixed review. Husband had steak and shrimp, daughter had crispy chicken salad. Both were good. I had "braised beef roast". Roast was pale. The color of pork or chicken. When questioned the waitress said it was"light beef". Since I cook and work in food service, I knew there was no such thing. Upon further research, come to find out it was veal. The waitress just didn't seem to want to admit it. Very disappointing. I would not have ordered if had been labeled correctly, and since some customers may choose not to eat veal for moral reasons, I feel the menu should be updated to reflect.
(3)Joan F.
Still very new and very busy. 45 minute wait for a table. We ordered Chips and Queso after asking the waitress what type of chips, she did not know. It was just normal queso like you could make at home and tortilla chips 40 minute wait for the food, which should not be no matter how busy they are.. My husband had the Deluxe Club. Bacon was rancid and the turkey was a little off. I had the Citrus Miso Salmon, it was just the right portion and it did taste good. Over all not bad food but nothing overly spectacular. Wait staff is not the greatest, the managers do not walk around to any tables. Just one more restaurant by the mall. There are better choices in the area. We may or may not go back. They are quite busy.

Recently went to this Cheddars for a business lunch. I arrived at 11:30 and there was a 15 minute wait. We were seated in about 15 minutes, and left almost 2 hours later. The service staff seemed over taxed. Our server made several apologies for the back up but managed to stop by regularly to let us know. DON'T order a burger unless you like is killed twice. I ordered a Smokehouse Burger and the server asked if I wanted it medium well or well. I replied medium rare, to which I learned that is not possible. He said he would write get it as close medium as possible, it was closer to dried out cooked to the max than anything else. The beef was dry and the barbecue sauce was barely noticed. The only good thing I can say it wasn't an $8 burger. ($5.95) It was crowded and I can understand a new location, new staff etc. but I would not go back based on the food quality alone. My silverware was dirty and they were wrapped in a napkin at the table. I would think you wouldn't wrap a dirty utensil, so it probably means the attention to detail is lacking.
