We're from California and have never been to carrabbas , we were very happy with the service by our waiter Shane he was helpful , friendly , and knew the menu . We definitely want to go back before we have to go home and try something else , oh I had the 'Johnny' and it was killer calamaris were incredible too . Carrabbas needs to think about heading out west (like San Diego) I think this is my first yelp ever.

Okay place and as a rule I like this restaurant chain quite a bit for Italian fare. Found it awkward dining there during their shift change time around 2:45pm on Saturday. There were lots of open tables but had to wait for a bit to be seated since the host said there were no servers available. There were already people ahead of us waiting to be seated as well in a mostly empty restaurant. It was not being handled very well by the host, she was flustered and not explaining why their was a wait with so many free tables. If she had just communicated this first is would have made a huge difference. I had to politely ask what was going on and she seemed annoyed with me for even asking. Once we were seated most everything was okay, but I was served the wrong size entrée. I pointed this out to our server and they corrected the bill, but still not being busy I'm not sure how they were messing things up so much. The food was good, but the service at this location was pretty bad. Sorry but it's the truth.

I hadn't been to Carrabba's in while so on a whim my God daughter and I decided to have lunch one afternoon. It was great decision... So the basics are that Carrabba's is an Italian restaurant offering a variety of meals that will make your mouth water. We started with the meatball and ricotta flat bread. All appetizers are half off between 3pm and 7pm at this location. The flat bread was very flavorful and the fact that it was $3.5 made it even better. The second course was soup and salad. I had a Caesar salad, which I did not really enjoy. The flavor of the dressing was a bit off for me. I wouldn't order it again. My God daughter ordered the chicken noodle soup which she really enjoyed. For our entrees, I ordered the Champagne Shrimp & Scallop Linguine. It was perfect! The sauce was creamy which I did not expect and was extremely tasty. The shrimp and scallops were also very fresh. I'd definitely recommend it and order it again myself. I also tasted my God daughter's spaghetti and meatballs. I have something against ordering spaghetti and meatballs at a restaurant. It wasn't fantastic, but it wasn't bad either but she enjoyed it. Our waitress was really nice and knowledgeable about the menu options. She recommended the flatbread and my champagne shrimp and scallops which were both really good. The service was quick and efficient.

Ok let's see. I got great, friendly, quick service at the bar. My red sangria was delicious. The summer sangria I got later was good, a bit too sweet, but still tasty. The hostesses were niceish. Our server was nice but not especially fast. I don't know how many tables she had so it's possible she was just really busy. Early on she brought my friend root beer instead of Dr. Pepper and when we asked about it she admitted she probably served the wrong thing so that was nice (instead of her getting crappy about it or just ignoring it or saying we were wrong). We ordered a goat cheese and tomato sauce appetizer and it was really good. Our salads came out in a confused fashion and once we were eating them our food came our pretty quickly which was inconvenient. My entree was meh. It was Capellini Milano or something (capellini with chicken, mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, ricotta and a tomato cream sauce). It wasn't amazing. Two of out of 4 entrees came out without the modifications (one was sauce on the side and the other - my pasta - was add peas) and since they weren't major modifications that was kind of annoying too. We ordered desserts - some vanilla ice cream with caramel rum sauce and pecans and a brownie/chocolate mousse thing. Presentation on both was awful. The ice cream was on a flat plate with two small scoops kind of melting and spread apart. Using a bowl would have been a way better idea. The chocolate one was obviously a prepackaged kind of dessert just sliced and served. Overall I had fun because I was with friends but I definitely remember them having MUCH better food when I last ate here years ago. I don't know if I've been spoiled by local cuisine or something but coming back will not be at the top of my list unfortunately - except maybe for sangria and appetizers - both of which were satisfying.

Been there 3 times never going back, food has no flavor and always served cold. Long wait time even when restaurant is empty.

Yep, it's a chain but it's a good one with decent food. I popped in during the dinner hours on Monday night and was able to get a corner table in the bar area. My waitress pleasantly informed me of the Amore Monday specials and so my appetizer was half off. Sweet! I started with something they are calling "arancini" that are small fried balls of cheese and rissoto and sausage. Quite tasty and very nicely plated with a small pot of marinara sauce for dipping. After that, my salad arrived. The right amount of caesar dressing and a lot of parmesan cheese and croutons. Good salad on a nice cold plate. Finally, mains arrived. A good sized grilled pork chop topped with a marsala mushroom sauce. The pork chop was only okay. My fault for going off the "Italian" menu. Oops. The green beans were a little firmer than al dente but great. What topped off the meal perfectly was the mini cannolis for dessert. Absolutely perfect. Just the right amount to finish the meal on a sweet note. Crunchy, creamy, nutty. Excellent. Service from my waitress was quite good and in the corner I wasn't disturbed by too much traffic or loud neighbors. I would recommend this seat as you can look out over the whole restaurant including the kitchen. A good meal at a great price.

Wow amazing!!!! Got here and check in as a walk in. They let us know it would be about 25-30 min. Sat outside and not even 5 min later the buzzer rang. Are server Ashlee P was on point with everything. She never missed a beat. Kind friendly and super sweet. It was super busy but she kept a smile on her face the whole time. Not to mention the food was perfect. Thank you tons.

Food was great. No qualms there. Service needs to be addressed and sadly I believe that it has more to do with the hiring manager of this establishment because everyone working was an attractive twenty something female. On that note, I've seen better service at Hooters/Wing House/Etc. Waitress came to our table after being seated and simply said "Hello." That was it. No, "Welcome to Carrabas" or "Hi I'm So-and So, here's our specials and what kind I get you to drink?" Just "Hello" and in a tone that conveyed that we were an inconvenience to her. Hospitality is hard and the stress from one table can bleed into another, but that initial greeting (or lack thereof) makes your customers perceive that we weren't welcome here. For whatever reason, our waitress was then never seen again and another young woman took over, not introducing herself as well, when bringing the wrong drinks. She corrected it and recorded our order. She was to the point, no patience, and sparsely attended to the table. We never saw a manager and, frankly, I don't go out of my way seek them out to provide constructive feedback unless there is something drastically wrong with the food. I'm just disappointed overall and I hope you take steps to improve the soft skills with your wait staff.

I'm not sure where these reviewers are coming from here. We came over to check out this new Carrabas on a Friday night, and were thrilled from start to finish. Our closer, and more outdated, kind of musty location in Altamonte finally has an alternative. This place is clean, the staff is quick and helpful, and the modern touches they have rolled out are sorely needed in their other, older locations. We arrived early before the rush, and you definitely want to do that here. This location is a bit smaller than their usual, and by the time we left, the wait had to be around 30-45 minutes. Outside, there seemed to be some ample seating for those that were waiting, and I noticed on the way out that they had an appetizer pizza sliced up for those wanting a snack while they waited (nice touch). As for the service, our server was on top of things, always there to fill the drink, and quick to answer questions. The food was as good as it always is here, so if you are a fan of Carrabas like I am, it is quite consistent. Little things like a full quarter of a lemon for your water are what can help elevate a casual dining place like this (I'm easy to please). For the prices that are at Olive Garden now, I don't see how they can compete with freshly made dishes like Carrabas offers. Make sure you order those zucchini fries, they are just an amazing appetizer. Just remember, come early, or be prepared to wait. Next time I come, I'd aim to sit up at the seats directly in front of the kitchen by the bar. There only appeared to be about five of them, but it looked like a lot of fun.

My date took me here. I typically prefer local not corporate restaurants, but I was not the event planner this evening. I have been to Carrabba's a few times in the past and wasn't too impressed but also wasn't as disappointed as I was this time. Upon entrance we were not greeted by any host or server for at least 5 minutes. Finally someone came over to us and sat us without any apology. Our server was rude from the start and more concerned with socializing with another server as she was at our table! I asked for the specials, which she was not sure of. I ordered a Sicilian sangria which was pretty good. For my entree I ordered the chicken Bryan. When it arrived I was completely shocked to find out that it was still raw and I noticed this from a piece I was chewing on! Immediately we flagged down a server (not our own because she was nowhere to be found). Patrick the manager came to our table and told us he would have another one prepared, but was not very apologetic, he left me with the impression that it was my fault the chicken was undercooked. My date asked if there was anything else that could be done for the situation and Patrick hesitatingly offered us a free dessert which was the sogno. It arrived to our table terrible looking and falling apart. The server had a smirk on her face as if it was intentional. I really do not understand why this nightmare occurred. I am a very kind person especially in restaurant settings because I too have worked in their shoes. My date was so embarrassed for the incident. The entire atmosphere of this Carrabba's felt so unprofessional and uncomfortable, almost like what you would expect from Steak-N-Shake. I felt the most uncomfortable with Patrick and I am considering how to go about contacting human resources about him.

I was in town with my fiancé from Chicago visiting my parents and we decided to make the lil drive from Mt Dora over here last night. I've always has good experiences at other Carrabba's locations in south Florida but this was the best by far. I am vegan, and our server, Cierra, was the only server I've ever had who gave me food recommendations based on my diet restrictions. She informed me of which pasta were vegan and which salad dressings were free of milk. I can't tell you how rare it is, in my experiences, to have a server have this knowledge offhand. In addition, our drinks, bread, and meals all came out quick and were delicious. I will be sure to come back next time I'm in town.

Update (12/6/14). Came for lunch around 1:00 Saturday. I still cannot believe the negative reviews. The staff was friendly and the food was fresh and hot. We were shocked that Cheddar's around the corner had a massive wait while the parking lot here was half full. Perhaps it has to do with $? This is still our favorite Carrabba's. Yes 5 stars. This place does not deserve a 2 star rating (as of 1/10/14). From the moment we entered the restaurant we were greeted with friendly faces. The atmosphere in this place is refreshing, clean and inviting. Our waitress, Brittany B. made us feel welcomed and was kind enough to ask if our son would like to play with fresh dough. The food came out hot and fast. It really was a flawless evening. I understand that five stars is typically reserved for high class places and not chains. Well, this by far, has been my best experience with a restaurant in this category. I believe it has earned each and every star. We came on a Friday night, before the crowd, 5:45. When we left it had a lot of people waiting to be seated and the place was full. I am not sure why the reviews are slim and last submitted over 3 months ago. Come check this place out and review it yourself! :)

I really love the energy here! Right when you pull up they just allow you to feel comfortable. The front patio area outside makes it easy to wait a little if you have to. They have very comfortable seating outside with tiki torches and heaters. I have never waited at this restaurant though. They have call ahead seating which makes it a lot more convenient. Tonight we both had the same full size Chicken Bryan with Fettuccine Alfredo for the side. The chicken was grilled to perfection and very moist. We also had BlackBerry Sangria which was very good minus they forgot to put blackberries in the cup. Also the server seemed a little aggravated which gave this restaurant 4 stars. Drinks were not filled timely and we got our Sangria when our entrée arrived. One of my big pet peeves is to not bring the salad right when the dinner comes out. I have noticed more of a problem with the servers here as I come back. They just don't seem to really enjoy their job too much. Maybe next time I will get someone who does because I will definitely be back.

I love this place! It is never as packed as the one in Altamonte, and the wait staff is great! My husband and I go here at least twice per month and the food is always hot, tasty, and timely. If you are in the mood for delicious Italian food and want a more authentic taste than Olive Garden (and with MUCH better service), go here! The chicken marsala and garlic mashed potatoes are to die for :)

Not sure if it is this location or Carrabba's in general but it has become remarkably average, sure it is better than some other notable Italian chain restaurants but nothing about tonight's meal will point me in the direction of coming back. The food was ok, nothing striking. As soon as we were seated and before we even picked up our menus our server greeted us and asked if we wanted to order a drink, we obviously were still getting settled as we picked up the wine list/cocktail list and started browsing she just hovered there staring at us. In this case it would be customary to say "Please, take a moment to look over the wine list, let me grab you some water to start" Nope, we had to ask her to give us a minute. Not a great start. We ordered an appetizer and she asked if she could also put in our dinner order, I somewhat reluctantly placed our food order and I should have known better as we had barely made it half way through our appetizer and low and behold here come our salads. To me this is extremely unprofessional and something I completely frown upon. I even made a small comment to see what her reaction would be, stating "I guess, we can just take that home with us..." She ignored. Of course the train was a running away by now and I could not swallow my last bite of salad before our entrees were turning the corner for our table. Come on, I am out with my wife, it is the holidays, we wanted to have a couple cocktails, the restaurant is not busy, why on earth do you have to rush us in and out. The dinner entrees were just ok, I ordered an upcharge for fettuccine alfredo and it had no sauce on it at all, I am familiar with what they typically serve and either they are skimping on ingredient or it was hastily made, I did bring that to the servers attention and she offered to bring more sauce but did mention in would take a "while" well at this point I was almost finished eating so no I did not want to wait for more sauce alone. It should have been taken off my bill as I barely touched the bland clump of pasta they served me. Not over yet, our server committed yet another error, as we were still eating fork and knife in hand, she asked if we needed boxes? Please forgive us for taking up your time tonight, you must have had something more important to do. Did we want another cocktail, maybe some desert, espresso perhaps, I guess you will never know because you were in such a hurry to get our table turned you forgot to ask. Sorry, chances are this restaurant if off the list. I will go somewhere where I am not rushed through dinner for $70.

After a very good first experience a couple months back, I decided to go back for a special occasion and not only was the the Chicken Marsala smothered in pepper but the pasta was the same and salty. The rest of the experience was topped off by mediocre service. At the price this place charges The Olive Garden is a better place to eat.

Came here for a celebration dinner. Overall everything was okay, but they lost a few points on service. My boyfriend asked for lemon and the waiter brought some slices over wrapped in a napkin. This is not something I'd expect even in someone's home, let alone a restaurant. I thought that was not what the atmosphere and service of Carrabba's usually entailed. Honestly, the bread and salads were good, but my entree was very bland. I will not make it a point to return here.

I would expect nothing less from this company, but they seem to be doing the opening very well. We went on a Thursday night during what I think was their first week open and there was a 20-30 minute wait but we were able to find available seating at the high-top tables in the bar area. (The stools and table were very sturdy with hooks under the table for purses/umbrellas.) It was raining and on our way in there were three girls with large golf umbrellas to help us in from our car. They seem to have a mix of experienced and new staff, and there were a LOT of people working. I assume this is part of their opening training period. The service was quick, attentive (we actually had about three people waiting on us), and knowledgeable. The food was as expected-- excellent flavor and quality, as I expect from this chain. Everything was delivered as ordered and in a timely manner. The atmosphere was extremely loud. To some extent when you have so many people waiting and all tables full there will always be a lot of noise, but the layout is a big open square-- no walls, no high partitions, nothing to dampen sound at all. With the conversation level so noisy I'd have liked the music to be a little quieter to help some, but nothing doing. All the booths have low seats so I don't think they would be any quieter than where we were. Basically, not a great place for good conversation. Carrabba's is pretty standard in our special occasion rotation and I'm glad to have one in Sanford, much closer to me than their location in Altamonte. But if I want good quality Italian with a chance to linger a bit and enjoy the people I'm with, I'll probably head to Chianti's instead.

Decent, but missing the wow factor My wife, daughter and I recently ate here for Mother's day, on the Saturday night before. They were able to seat us within 15 minutes of our reservation time, which is a plus on a busy night. However, once we were seated we noticed that there were crumbs on the table, which means that either our table had not been wiped down, or was wiped quickly/sloppily. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. We had mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. The sauce was amazing (I wish mine at home tasted this good), but the mozzarella sticks were not as good as I had remembered from previous visits to other locations. My wife had the chicken carrabbas, which was a huge portion and delicious. I had the Italian classic combo (lasagna and chicken parmigiana). For it being an expensive combo, the portions were very small. In fact, I would go so far as to say it was the smallest portion of lasagna I've ever been served, and it tasted like it was left over from lunch. The chicken parmigiana was very good, but a small portion also. My daughter loved her pepperoni pizza. So overall, kind of mixed reviews from us, but at the prices they charge there should not be mixed reviews, it should all be amazing. Not sure if we will return.

Great restaurant and value. Casual. Food is good and the pastas are made in house . Great sauses and salad. Everything was good. Service was great. New restaurant and running very smoothly. Great management. Only thing is soup is too watery.

If I was reviewing this restaurant for my experiences on the 3 Thursday night's I have been in, they would be getting a 4 possibly a 5. The Thursday night team behind the bar should be the Saturday Team. Here's why... they are better organized, they are happier...they act like they want to be there and they provide WAY better service. Our service tonight was terrible when we left our tab was half what it usually is. I don't know who the guy behind the bar was because he didn't speak to one customer the whole time we were there. He did speak to the wait staff and I can tell you if he spoke to me that way I would be talking to HR. As a customer I don't want to hear it. We will be back... but only if the Thursday crew is there.

Sat at the bar tonight because they were busy. Bartender was very nice, but being nice doesn't get good service. Our service was awful. Food was good, but were never asked how our food was until dishes we're finished. Was never asked if we'd like another glass of wine. Talked to a manager on the way out and he didn't care. If you want to be another plate served, go to this place

Service was terrible. They were severely Under staffed and could not get my salad right. My salad was delivered incorrectly two times. The manager, however, did comp the entire bill. The wait for our food was about 45 minutes and we arrived around 2.30 which is not a high traffic time.

As a vegetarian, I've never really been impressed with the selection at Carrabas, but I have carnivore friends who love it so I eat there occasionally. For health reasons, I've temporarily adopted a mostly gluten-free, dairy-free diet, and I understand that most places don't have menu options that accommodate that. So I was excited to see that they had a gluten-free menu... but every single option on that menu had meat in it. I didn't want to be high maintenance, but after hearing about my diet restrictions, the waitress said she could just have the chef create a salad for me. The waitress was very nice and came back to ask me what kind of dressing I'd like. I got excited thinking of all the yummy veggies, nuts and fruits that could be put together in a salad - ingredients I'd seen in other salads on the menu. So I was a bit shocked when she brought the salad out it consisted of: Lettuce, onion, tomato and olives. Really?! That's the best they could do?! The worst part was that I was still charged $11 - the cost of a salad with meat - for that plate of rabbit food. I guess I have to stick to making my own salads!

In all, this was a pleasant dining experience. I have had Carrabba's before this, but never dined in. This recently-opened facility is in a great location, especially since the restaurant has a scanty presence in Orlando (I only know of a handful). This was smaller than your average restaurant, but no less accommodating. However, I will say that they have some rookie hosts who are slightly unorganized with their record of open tables. I've been a host before, though, so I am not complaining - it just takes some time. I was expecting more expensive pricing in all, but that is not to say that some dishes were pretty steep for my wallet - particularly the combination dishes. They did have a great special going on for Monday nights, however. It seems like a lot of restaurants these days have this 3-course dinner deal, which was nice. My sister and I had a knowledgeable, experienced server - just the right amount of interaction. We both ordered the 3-course option and our food came out at a great pace. Nothing overlapped like at some restaurants where you get your appetizer and then 2 seconds later they bring you your entree. The soup/salad, the appetizers, the entree, and the desert were all perfectly-timed. I wish I remembered the server's name. My sister chose an appetizer for the 3rd course and I chose a desert and we split them both (you can only choose one or the other). Of course, great food with quality ingredients and spectacular flavor. I had an Italian salad, the Shrimp Diavlo appetizer, the Pasta Sostanza with chicken added as the main dish, and tiramisu for dessert (my favorite). It was so much food that I had to take most of my entree and my dessert home. No complaints whatsoever. I would also recommend what my sister ordered - shrimp and scallops ("Spiedino di Mare"). Not bad for about $20 bucks each. Would recommend.

This lunch meal on wednesday was nothing i would want to repeat for the cost. I would have gotten a better meal at olive garden less expensively. The parmesean was an obvious frozen cutlet that was then burned on one side. The meat sauce on the pasta was greasy. Service staff was nice but i guess there was a reason this place was almost empty namely the food! Go elsewhere if you can.

We stopped in after shopping on Saturday for lunch. We sat at the bar and order some wine to start. The service on the initial wine was a bit slow. I think the bartender was backed up and she was the only one working the bar. After we got the wine things went much smoother. We started with the Zucchini appetizer which was good.. salty but good. 2 of us ordered the lunch pizza and my daughter ordered the cobb salad. We all agreed our lunch entrees were great. Overall we had a nice dining experience.

Wow reading the other reviews one might think the Olive Garden was a better choice for Italian near the mall. I however have not had the same experiences other reviewers have had. First I'm not a vegetarian and I do eat gluten. If I had these dietary burdens I would question the sanity of eating out let alone critiquing a chain restaurant for not accommodating my severe dietary restrictions. I have not inspected the entire restaurant so I cannot say it is completely cob web free but I can say I felt welcome and thought the location was clean. That being said this is a newer carrabbas that has had a couple glitches getting set up service wise. The food has been consistently up to the normal standards of other carrabbas I have visited. My only real gripe is the last 3 times here our entree arrived just after our soups and salads. We mentioned this to management and this time everything arrived as expected. While carrabbas is not excellent Italian food finding anything better in central Florida is difficult due to the snowbirds aversion to garlic. It seems that most local Italian restaurants are scared of using garlic for fear of the seniors sending back their early bird specials. So, sadly, Carrabbas is my only Italian outlet outside my kitchen. This one has better service than the Daytona location (as the Daytona location treats most customers as tourists due to its location across from the speedway). Once again cannot understand all negative reviews I give this location an 8 out 10 for Carrabbas. If you like this chain I'm sure you'll like this location. Don't believe the negative hype.

Awful place, never again ever"...........they should close this place down, period .........we were there with my family and the server was rude, and the salad was disgusting , waiting over 30 minutes for our food and it was not what I ordered, the broccoli was microwave and the chicken was like malnourished .....awful place never ever again.....don't waist your time and money.

Carrabbas has great appetizers, desserts, and soups. Their entrees are usually good, however , I've been to this location twice and I feel like they have been putting way too much salt in their pizza and mashed potatoes. I complained once, so maybe they have fixed this.

Carrabas is my favorite restaurant but this carrabas sucks. My pasta carraba sauce was way too watery. I asked the server and he said it always comes like that. The service was not professional. Not at all like the carrabas in daytona or longwood. I will never come back here. My friends dinners were not good either. We waited 10 minutes for my credit card to be returned after we paid.

My aunt & I went to the Sanford, FL location on Saturday. I ordered a bowl of Pasta Fagioli, Sirloin Marsala with a side of risotto. At the Altamonte Springs & Orlando locations, I was able to get a side of risotto. Five minutes later, our server came back & let me know that the kitchen will only do the risotto as an entree. So I ordered a side of angel hair pasta with vodka sauce. Once I got my food, the angel hair pasta looked like there was no sauce on it & it tasted dry. I asked the server about it. She told me that is how it comes. I actually did not eat the pasta with the sirloin. I poured the Pasta Fagioli over the angel hair & took it home, which was delicious. I was very disappointed. I usually order dessert but I did not feel welcomed.

Pretty new location, but they seem to have everything figured out. We walked in and got seated immediately. I was expecting a huge wait because its new but everything but the entrees came out fast and even then it was only slightly longer than most. They are completely overstuffed which I think is smart for a new location. i got the chicken trio, always great, let's you try their best dishes and you don't need to get pasta if you are watching carbs. Really nice bar scene and has outside seating too.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
