My work often orders from Yummy Thai for lunch. The food is delicious and affordable. A couple months ago I brought my mom here for dinner and it was great. The restaurant is very clean and the decor is cute. The staff is very attentive and helpful. My favorite dish is the Beef Panang Curry. It's full of flavor and very filling. My mom really liked the Pad Thai. I recommend Yummy Thai to anyone. The food is great and the staff is wonderful.

Great Thai place to stop into if you're ever near 4th and Gandy.... it's right next to Publix on Roosevelt Blvd. The owners are very friendly and this is family owned and operated from what I can tell. Their house fried rice is excellent and so are the wontons. Try their lunch buffet weekdays for a sample of all of the different options. The food is not AS good from the buffet but you can eat more! Sometimes I order off the regular menu during lunch so don't be afraid to ask them for a menu during lunch hours.

Good, local Thai. This isn't the best Thai I have ever had, but it's decent food, decently priced. It will continue to be a staple on our "we don't feel like cooking or driving anywhere" rotation. The food is good and the portions are generous for the price. The servers and delivery people are very polite and friendly. We ordered the green and panang curry. Both were good - a bit soupy for my taste, but nothing I can't look past. There are some different veggies in panang curry (corn, mushrooms) but I like veggies and they tasted good, so again not a deal breaker. The crab Rangoon was good and had plenty of crab and spice to it.

Don't waste your time coming to this restaurant unless it's your only option for Thai in the area. It's very hot inside and not easy to move around due to being small and their placement of tables. We decided to try their buffet--- wasn't impressed. The food wasn't hot and didn't seem fresh. Mostly fried items they can prepare a head of time. The soup was salty and tofu added. The pad thai had fried tofu in it, I wasn't impressed. There were roughly 10 options on the buffet, fried sweet potato chips, fried sliced zucchini, fried rice, white rice, vegetable tofu soup, fried chicken in their special sauce, spicy mixed veggies, and a few others I didn't recognize. Their "dessert" selection consisted of Thai donuts and pumpkin in coconut milk- neither of which any of our table tried. I heard they have an actual menu to order from and offer delivery. We weren't offered a menu as they implied the buffet was the best option.

First timer** Ordered take out from here during my lunch break due to location and yelp reviews. They apparently have a lunch buffet at lunch time daily (have yet to try it). I ordered pad see ew, beef, hot and it was definitely hot. Served with a side of tempura carrots (taste like sweet potato fries), however, portion was smaller than I expected. It's served in one of those 3 part styrofoam boxes with the dish taking up the larger section, laid in aluminum foil, sprinkled with some spicy stuff. That spicy stuff made the dish a little dry. Food was ok, but I'll keep trying around because I know there will be better.

I was really excited to see that there's a new thai place right next my new office. A co-worker and I were also thrilled to see they had a small lunch buffet for 8 bucks that provided an opportunity to gauge how good this place really is. Curried items: Great with lots of flavor. Crispy chicken: Pretty good. Pad Thai: Awful - mostly because it was so old. Papaya Slaw: So spicy, you might die. If you make the mistake of trying just a sliver, wash it down with a few lunch buffet micro-donuts. Overall, it was a pretty good experience but they could use a little more light as it was noticeably dark inside at noon. I'd also recommend they thoroughly clean the place. Given that it's a lunch hot spot, I can see how it could become more about volume than providing a quality experience. This is not a place for an important or collaborative meeting, but that buffet sure is a great idea if you want to get in and get out!

Best Thai in the area. Everything I have tried has been delicious. The spring rolls are delicious. Love the curries. Vegetables are always fresh and crisp. The Thai tea is very popular. Everything is made to order? They have been very busy at lunch and are doing their best to keep up with demand, so lunch might require a little patience.

I came here again recently and was kinda let down again by the buffet. It seems like no matter what time you come in, they keep just enough food in the pans for a scoop or two. Half my time there I was waiting for them to refill the food. When it did come out, it was ok. The pad thai was very overcooked, but had good flavor. The panang curry had kind of a weird taste to it, but everything else was pretty good. I also wasn't crazy about scooping the food off of plastic wrap. They literally hang plastic wrap inside the warming trays leaving the food floating in the middle, which I'm assuming saves them cleaning time. It just makes it a little awkward trying to scoop out the little bit of food that is in it. I'll just stick to the menu next time.

This is essentially just a chinese buffet with way less of a selection. Service was terrible and the food options were extremely limited. Unless you are looking for a crappy Chinese buffet then go for it but even a Chinese buffet be the same quality and has way more selections than this place. If I could rate it zero stars then I definitely would.

Just ok. Went in here for lunch because I moved in across the street and was tired from moving all day. I saw a buffet sign and typically love Thai food. I was with my girlfriend who after we entered and saw the place suggested we leave, but I insisted we stay. The buffet was very very small, and very strange. Rather than actually having the food in the metal buffet containers, they had plastic wrap over all the containers, with a very small amount of food on top of it suspended like a Saran Wrap hammock. This presentation of the food was a major turnoff and frankly made the place look far worse than it was. The buffet didn't have many options, but the food was ok. It wasn't bad, but certainly nothing special. Also, the soda was in a can, so if you want a refill you are going to pay for each one which I find a major annoyance. That combined with the awful presentation of food and lack of options in the buffet has me at two stars. Fountain soda and no plastic wrap hammocks would have gotten it a 3 though.

Ordered take out here last night. Cannot begin to describe how much I enjoy the Panang Curry and Crab Rangoon. Tom Kai soup is quite tasty too! Fresh veggies and nothing too spicy. The place is small inside, but they make up for it in food. Cannot wait to try a little of everything! Our new go to place for Thai.

Underwhelmed. Buffet concept has potential. Food didn't taste bad but wasn't fresh. Sweet tea had a really weird taste and server's response was "It's pre-made." Not satisfied paying $13 for that experience, especially at lunch.

Food was good. The delivery service, Eat24, that is used through Yelp took 2 1/2 hours to get to me, but that was not the restaurants fault and they were very kind when I called inquiring as to the delay. I'll try them again in the future, but will call directly for delivery instead of using the online option.

I like that they changed it to a buffet. I get a little of everything I love at a Thai restaurant for one price 8.95. They open at 11 am, but all the food isn't filled till closer to 12pm. If you get there at 12pm, then the whole world is there. So, it's hard for to gauge when to come. I'm an early eater, but sad that all the food isn't out by then. I fill myself up on soup and misc items. They have Tom yum tofu with cabbage which is good. It doesn't quite taste like a tom yum, but it's good. One of my favorite dishes on the buffet is this Bangkok Chicken. Yum, crispy sweet fried Chicken bites. I usually load up on this! Their pad Thai is pretty good. One reason why I come here, papaya salad is on the buffet, it's spicy! Remember to get your buffet punch card!

Me and my husband love this local restaurant both to eat in or carry out. To start we always get the Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups. They have the best in the area in our opinion. I like all the Curry's and Panang and my husband loves the Pad Thai.

Despite the empty restaurant on a Friday night, the I interior was enticing. Clean and well lit. I sat in a booth and was brought water quickly. I ordered the pot stickers and a Pad Knee dish of rice noodles and steak stir fry. I had high hopes but sadly my experience didn't pan out. The cook brought my appetizer which turned out to be slightly undercooked and crunchy. When the main course came my water half empty and not refilled. My dinner was spicy and rather glumpy and definitely unattractive to the eye. Being that it was hot, I ran out of water but no one could be seen to help. Sadly I wouldn't recommend this place and won't return because of the lack of service. It wouldn't have been half bad if I'd had more water and attentive service who could if at least cleared my plates too.

I've lived in the Gandy area for almost 7 years now and this is the first restaurant that we really enjoy. The staff is always super friendly and happy to see you. They also offer delivery and have an excellent lunch buffet as well. I recommend the Green Curry, the Cashew Nut (chicken or veggie), and Pad Thai. One of North Saint Pete's little gems.

I get dinner delivered from here a few times a month. It's not super fast (45 minutes-1 hour) and not super cheap but the food is well worth it. I have tried almost everything on the menu and it is all wonderful. I am partial to the pad Thai noodles but the Bangkok chicken (like a Thai version of sesame chicken) is really good as well. As far as appetizers go, my favorites would have to be the shrimp dumplings and the crab rangoons (the chicken satay is great too though). It has only happened twice when their was a small mistake in my order (such as forgetting to pack the rice) but they are very quick about fixing the mistake and always include a complimentary Thai tea or coffee. Anyways, give this place a try. I can only recommend to eat dinner here as I have not had their lunch buffet.

Yay they deliver! Staff is personable and go out of their way to help you out. Food is exactly what you'd expect and the pad thai is delish. Tip: They are light-handed with the hot/spicy seasonings...so if you like it hot, get it realllly hot

This place is the only restaurant I feel 120% satisfied EVERY TIME!!! Service is always excellent, and the food is almost addictive. It is definitely AUTHENTIC. Just try drunken noodles on the dinner menu IF you are unhappy with the buffet. Trust me this is the best thai restaurant in Tampa Bay Area.

It is really hard to find great non-chain food in our neighborhood, but Yummy Thai nails it, despite being in a strip mall. It's also BYOB, so you can grab a bottle of wine from the liquor store next door on your way in. Every dish I've tried was yummy, but my favorite is the Green Curry and the Mango Sticky Rice. The service is always excellent, the food is quick, and you'll leave full and happy.

Really Great food (albeit small portions) and amazingly friendly staff! Right around the corner from my workplace and it's my goto for well cooked Asian food really quickly. What prevents me from the 5 stars that it could earn is how sloppily run service seems to be most of the time. I have only eaten here once for their lunch buffet which is great for the price and location. You'll get a range of well prepared "chinese" food to authentic Thai food. What irritates me is their take out service. I have probably frequented this place easily a dozen times or more for take out. I will call ahead or use their online order form. When you pick up your food, either the food is late, utensils are missing, or the food itself is missing. My coworkers ask why I don't check my bag before leaving. My reason is that I'm rushing to pick up food so I can eat at my desk. Besides, LUNCH happens every day. You would think that they'd have organized a prep station or place those needed items nearby for orders that are carried out. Once I ordered my food and was told it would be ready in twenty minutes. I got there at the appointed time and was asked to wait another 30 minutes for the food. So much for working through lunch.

We had a run of the mill Asian takeout experience. Their version" Thai spicy" is really just more seeds. I had pad thai shrimp for 12.95. It was average at best with lots of seeds. The 6 shrimp were good size but 2 needed deveining still. The noodles were just a clump and not visually appealing. The tempura we ordered was fine but if you can't batter and fry something you should not be in business. For the money their are many better places to eat close to their location. I wanted to like this place but it fell way short of Yummy.

My children love a school holiday so we can go to Yummy Thai for lunch! We love the buffet, especially the Bangkok Chicken and Pad Thai. Dinner is good too, but you have to make a menu choice. My husband has tried all of the curries and loves them! The staff are all pleasant and helpful and appreciative of your business.

Been wanting to give this place a try, I love Thai food and having a place opening close to work was awesome. Unfortunately I don't know that I'll be going back to dine-in for lunch, but I may do takeout. We arrived just after the lunch rush and the restaurant was about half-full. It took a really long time to even have anyone stop by and bring us water. We never had a drink order taken. Shortly after, they dropped off a small cup of soup & spring roll as part of their lunch special. My soup was a small amount of broth with some rice and a TON of cilantro. Like, a silly amount, and this is coming from a cilantro fan. My fiancee described it as "day old rice in warm water", not a good start. Right away I bit in to the spring roll. Great flavor, but completely ruined by the fact that it was cold. I was worried that my red chicken curry was going to be awful but fortunately, it was actually really good. In the end, extremely slow service, cold appetizers, and sub-par soup made the dine-in lunch experience one that I won't be going back for, but I may swing in for curry take-out sometime in the future.

I was having a boring Saturday and really wanted to spice up my day with some Thai food. I went to another local joint and it was closed. Yummy Thai was close to work so I came here instead. I am certainly glad I did. I ordered Pork Pad Thai and ordered it Thai hot. It was just enough to make my nose run slightly and loosen up my chest. It did not burn by any means. The meal altogether was quite tasty, served in a friendly and clean atmosphere. I will be back again.

I am still glowing from the meal I just consumed at Yummy Thai. I discovered this little gem on GrubHub, one of the delivery services for our area, when I had a hankering for Thai food like my sister-in-law makes it. I should probably mention my sister-in-law here, because, as a native of Korat, Thailand, she is THE ultimate judge of a really good Thai restaurant. I learned this the hard way, by recommending a place once that she tried but was obviously not pleased with. We developed a system after that: I would try a pad Thai noodle dish and let her know if it was great -- or not. That would determine whether or not she would make the drive across Tampa Bay to try it out. But back to Yummy Thai. Like I said, I had enjoyed red curry with shrimp and pad Thai, and panang curry with shrimp, all either delivered by GrubHub or picked up by my loving husband. I had not had the opportunity to sit in the restaurant. The takeout food was excellent and arrived hot (they are only a mile away from where I live), and my husband and I raved about it to each other. Then came the Big Test. I told my SIL about it and, needless to say, we had to try it out. When my SIL walks into any place where there are Thai people, she slips easily back into her native language and was happy to chat with our server, who was dressed in traditional Thai silks. She ordered for the table: a mix of fiery papaya salad and a slightly-less-spicy version of beef salad (which can be equally incendiary if you want), along with fried calamari appetizer and a bowl of jasmine rice. The calamari arrived hot, golden and crispy outside and perfectly cooked inside, with a small dish of sweet sauce to dip it in. We tucked into the papaya salad next, layering it on leaves of lettuce with white rice to take the burn down a notch. The pickled crabs in the salad give it slightly briny but very pleasant notes that combine well with the chilis, limes, garlic, fresh bell pepper, carrots, grape tomatoes and copious shreds of cool, green papaya. The beef salad was equally entertaining, with a medley of incredibly fresh vegetables and red onions mixed with spicy, thin slices of cooked, marinated beef and fresh herbs. We decided to add a dish of basil chicken, which was flavored perfectly, with just the right amount of basil to make it more of a suggestion, but less of a demand on your tastebuds. The restaurant itself is smallish, and features a buffet during lunch. They are also open at noon on Saturdays, which is a plus, since The Other Thai Restaurant doesn't open until evening on weekends. It is also permissible to pick up a bottle of wine at the nearby liquor store or Publix, and bring it into the restaurant to drink with your meal. The decor is relaxing, as is the music, which, tonight, consisted of a recorded piano/violin duo playing music that reminded me a little of Paul Winter Consort. The high ceilings in the restaurant mean that it does get a bit loud as the place fills up, which it did fairly quickly on this Friday evening, and there is a little echo but no one seemed bothered by this, least of all me, who likes to eavesdrop occasionally. It's a little more hip and relaxed that most of the Thai restaurants I have visited (and I've visited quite a few), with burnished orange walls, and sheer curtains in the windows that screen twinkling white lights that just put one at ease. In the parlance of the 1970s, it's got a really nice vibe. Becki, the owner, does the cooking and she must have magic in her hands because all we could do throughout the entire meal was rave about how good it was. The fact that my sister-in-law left on a first-name basis with Becki shows how much she loved it, as well as her edict that it's worth crossing Tampa Bay (they live in Brandon) to eat there. And I agree. I can't recommend this place enough.

I've wanted to try this place but was a little scared. From the outside it seems small and dark. I decided to be brave and stop in for the lunch buffet. The food was amazing!! For about $9, I was able to sample some of their specialities. The basil chicken was not something I would have normally ordered off the menu, but turns out it was my favorite on the buffet. Even the fried rice was excellent and way better than most I've had. As for the atmosphere, it was too dark and I did not care for the music that was playing. But the food was great so it doesn't matter.

We went here for lunch today. The interior is very clean but lacks any decorations. Some paintings and/or mirros would go a long way to brightening up the place. The service was quick but then again we were the only ones when we arrived for a late lunch. The staff was friendly and anxious to please and our food came out quickly. The food was good but with so many Thai restaurants in the area, there was nothing special about this place. I hope they make it, but they will need to find a way to make this restaurant stick out.

We decided to try the $9 lunch buffet this week. They were all out of food of the main dishes. It was just kibbles 'n bits scraps left in the bins. So we loaded up on egg rolls and vegetable tempura while we waited for the main dishes to be filled. And waited. And waited. We made a few comments to the staff about the need for food. We kept snacking on the egg rolls. Eventually we were handed a bill. I told them I would not be paying $9 for eggrolls. I had a couple arguments with the waitress and then the manager. Their excuses sounded comical. We agreed to pay half the bill and left. The egg rolls were good though. The soup tasted like a vegetable soup and was pretty gross. Maybe I should have ordered off the menu instead. Or maybe the extra staff members that appear to just stand around should be in the back frying up some chicken or something.

Delicious food. The fried rice both house and basil are really good with either chicken or shrimp, in my experience. Great little Thai place. The staff has always been very nice, we`ve both eaten in and taken out.

I would give this place a zero if I could. While their food is good, their service is AWFUL! We have been very understanding over the last three times we have gone here but this time was it. We go for lunch during business hours and every time except for once, it has been slow in there with only 1-2 other tables. It takes 5-10 minutes to get a menu half the time and at least 10 minutes for whatever you order to drink. This last visit was the final straw. 5 minutes for the menu, 10 min for our drinks, 50 minutes later (of our hour lunch) we still had no food. We ordered three of the lunch specials...2 curry and a pad thai....simple easy dishes. There were only 2 other tables. The other table got there AFTER we did and got their food 15 minutes before the downhill spiral we had. We eventually had to get up and tell them that we needed it to go. They proceeded to bring out two of the three dishes despite us telling them otherwise and then brought us our own to go boxes to box it up. 5 minutes later, the third dish finally arrived in the to go container. During this time as we are telling her we are in a huge hurry and already over our lunch hour and visibly upset it's been an hour and we have no food, she so carefully takes her time with someone's to go order. Finally, the third meal gets to us packed up to go and she hadn't even put the lid on properly so it spilled everywhere in the bag before we had even left the table or cashed out. To top it off, she charged our cards to the wrong food so one of us ended up paying for the wrong check which was more money. All in all, I had to microwave my food at work and the third party in our group went back to work hungry. If you have an hour and a half to two hours to eat...go ahead and eat here. With 3-4 cooks in the kitchen you would think they would get it together. I've never seen a waitress sooooo slow with NO sense of urgency and who forgets so much! Don't waste your time and go to the new place on Ulmerton near Carillon. I haven't been there but have only heard good things.

I visited this place in their opening month so maybe things will get better. The interior is modern looking, not much Thai decor like some other places. The service was slow but I blame the fact it just opened and everyone and their mothers were there. It was so packed that I was seated at the bar. They immediately hand you a menu along with a soup and an egg roll. The soup is broth based with some rice pieces and green onions, a decent opener. The egg roll was also rice based and not what I would call a traditional egg roll, possibly vegetarian. I ordered the norm when I visit a Thai place the 1st time, a plate of Pad Thai. It took 45 minutes for it to arrive, but it was during the noon lunch rush and grand opening so hopefully things will improve. I thought the Pad Thai was a little bland and the portion was Ok. It wasn't bad but also nothing spectacular. I'll be visiting again to try their curry and report back.

Second on the meh. Looked like a very promising, clean & new restaurant in a busy shopping center. It was also packed with lots of corporate folks on their lunch break. Had a very promising start of some spicy herbal broth loaded with hot pepper and a little crunchy fried roll of something....and then we waited. And waited. And waited. The lunch crowd had thinned considerably by this point and it almost became a very unfunny joke about the waitress passing us by, bringing food to mystery diners behind us. I (eventually) had the Panang Chicken Curry (Thai Hot, please--this was barely a one or two on the heat scale) which was passable, but soupier than I prefer and chock full of much abhorrred vegetables like the baby corn (an abomination!) and peas. Boyfriend had the cashew chicken which tasted somewhat better, crisp red and green peppers. The prices were excellent, but the food was less than memorable. I do have a great deal of admiration for the hard working staff which appeared to be female only (you go, girls!) They seem to do a great take out business and can hopefully improve upon the speed of the service and punch up the dishes a little bit.

Went here for the lunch buffet. Selection is small, as expected for a Thai buffet. There was about 5-7 hot items. Warning no Pad Thai available on the buffet. The service was good and saved the review. The basil chicken thai hot was good but everything else was just ok. The people I went with hated that there was too many veggies and not enough meat. So it's a mix bag for me.

It was another great dinner. We started with Crab Rangoon. Fried perfectly and delicious. I had the Bangkok chicken that was fried perfectly. Dom had the Basil chicken (Tip: if your sensitive to hot food, order it MILD) Amazing flavor! Will definitely be back for more soon!

From Chicago. This place has awesome food. We did carry out and it tasted great. Recommended for those wanting good thai. We got chicken satay, fried basal rice and cashew nut with extra chicken.

This place has been in our routine food stops, we have had just about everything on the menu and each thing has been different but still exceptional. The staff is great and it is to the point most already know our drink order as we walk in the door.

Really bad food! Ordered Ginger chicken with extra veggies during lunch to go. I specifically said I wanted the dinner size because I had seen how small their lunches were. They rang me up...at the LUNCH price. I corrected her and said I had ordered dinner so she changed it. What I came back with was some meat, a few veggies and slivers of ginger in a pool of bland oily sauce. Seriously, NO flavor. On top of that they had sprinkled cayenne pepper!?! WTH sort of Thai restaurant does that???? Bad food, not authentic.
