First off the food is very good. Rivals the Chinese places in Manhattan. And it's cheap. However... The service is TERRIBLE. And believe me, I don't expect much from a Chinese place that's primarily take-out. But the girl who takes the orders/money is RUDE. And by rude I mean downright nasty for absolutely no reason. It's like she hates her job, therefore she hates the customers too. There were no napkins in my bag, so I asked for napkins and she gave me the nastiest look and then threw a single paper napkin at me. I know on these reviews sometimes you think to yourself, what was the review were being a DB. I swear to God all I did was order my food, pay, and then ask for a napkin when it was ready...

This restaurant sucks. Every year I come back to it to see if the food is better; every year the answer is no. It's bad tasting and greasy. They couldn't even get the wonton soup right. It's worse than the Italian restaurant next to it. There just aren't any good dining places in the Skyway/Maximo area of St. Pete. Save your money, go over to publix next door.

I just moved down here so I was looking for a Chinese place that was as good as back home. I wasn't disappointed it's delicious! I got the sweet and sour chicken white rice and cheese wontons. The wontons could have a little more cheese, but overall they are very good. As well as the egg rolls too. I'm very happy we found our new spot. And with the lunch special you get free drinks too!

Basic good fast food Chinese! Nothing wrong with it and obviously super fast! I'm a huge fan of crab Rangoon and they all taste different at each Chinese place, which I enjoy!

This place has by far the BEST chinese take out we have ever had. We live on the north side of town but have no qualms passing up many chinese take out joints in our area and driving the extra 5 or 6 miles to order from China Wok. We have been here probably 20 times and have never been disappointed. They have the best fried chicken wings, awesome mei fun, tasty egg foo yung, and the house special fried rice is a must. Really large portions - enough for two regular people - unless you eat like me. Seriously, this is the BEST take out chinese in the whole Pinellas County area BY FAR!!! They recently remodeled the inside, very clean and neat.

Best NY style Chinese I've ever had! House mai fun was big enough for at least 4 people and the ragoons were so delicious. Everything is super fresh and colorful, great prices, fast service and most importantly great food.

Best NY style Chinese take out in south St Pete. Always tastes great, and they even offer brown rice which is yummy.

To me it's just an average little restaurant serving up fast Chinese take out to the public. I randomly ended up here on day and decided to order some food before class. The food is pretty good, it was served fast and hot! The location is clean and the service is friendly. I got sesame chicken with brown rice and was not disappointed. The small is actually a lot! I really appreciate that they serve brown rice and that's a reason I am a fan. If you're looking for Chinese and brown rice! Check this place out!

I am a local native in St. Pete Beach, who is also a French Chef so I know good local food which is rare around here. I have been a loyal customer of China Wok for at least 15 years. I tell all my neighbors & local friends about this place! They all thank me profusely and become lifetime customers themselves. I recommend everything but I always get the spring rolls, special fried rice with big shrimp, bbq spare ribs, chicken wings, the duck is awesome! I only wish I could buy stock in their long term success! This place is the best take out Chinese food in the entire Tampa Bay area, it has won nationwide awards as the BEST Chinese restaurant! A must try!

This is some of the best Chinese food that I have ever had. I think that there is a two way battle for best Chinese in St. Pete between China Wok in the South and China Wok in the North. I love Chinese food and so I scoped out a dozen or so restaurants before I found this one. At the time, I lived in South Pasadena and this is pretty far away so that should give an idea of how far I went for this. So when I found this place I was very happy. China Wok has been a finalist in several best Chinese food competitions and I can see why. Now I can't review a huge slice of the menu because we fell in love with the items that we get and get them almost every time. But here is what I know, The honey chicken is amazing. Don't let it sit too long so that the moisture doesn't make the breading soggy but if you eat it quickly it is sweet and tangy and crunchy and a little nugget of heaven. I prefer it to the PF Changs version by a long shot. Then I always order some Kung Po Chicken. I love the spiciness in this. They use fresh, crunchy chunks of vegetables and large pieces of chicken with a very flavorful sauce. Their pork Lo Mein is excellent and there is always way more than you can eat. It has the right balance of meat and cabbage/celery in thin strips to add flavor but not make too chunky. They also have the best crab rangoon we have ever had. There can be some lines for takeout after dinner but it is worth the wait. I don't know if they deliver since I would have been outside the radius anyways. And make sure you get some of the almond cookies to try. They are a nice way to end the meal if you don't like the taste of fortune cookies.

Excellent food. The restaurant decor is dated, could use a face-lift. However, all that aside, the food is AMAZING!! The NY style Chinese food menu offers something for everyone, from steamed vegetables to pu-pu platter. Large lunch menu of $5.35 meal including entree, roasted pork fried rice, and a soda. The standard to-go container is packed to the brim with succulent bite sized treats. Try this local treasure, you will not be disappointed.

The website listed on Yelp is dead. The information listed on Yelp clearly states that they offer delivery, but all the reviews state that they do not deliver. I wish I could try this place, but someone really screwed up the Yelp info and made the website disappear. I'm noticing this a lot with St Pete Chinese restaurants. I'm hungry.

Is there a decorum to online restaurant reviews? Some kind of grand codex of commandments and standards? Are they a literary form in their own right, or shall they forever remain a bland recitation of the past experiences of the diner, ultimately an egotistical form, assuming that the reader--and, indeed, the world at large--is actually interested in your grim and solitary Wednesday night repast? Such heady questions are clearly beyond the scope of the present form, so I'll forsake them in favor of a more accessible question: is it possible to write a detailed, intelligent review of a strip-mall Chinese place? China Wok. It nestles comfortably between the weird fashion places and department store outlets that populate the South side. Its lot features angled parking for no discernible reason. There's a Publix there from which you can juuuuuust about see another Publix around the corner. In short, it's in an absolutely average location and looks, from the outside, like every other strip-mall Chinese place, an impression that walking in the door does little to dispel. The elements are as familiar as the back of your eyelids; you can recite them with me if you want: faded backlit pictures of the old selection of dishes that nobody except people who have never had Chinese food before look at, check. Black steel chairs with red vinyl cushions, check. Inoffensive white formica tables, check. TV crammed up in one corner broadcasting an endless display of the weather, check. There's probably a lucky cat lurking in there somewhere too; I've never been bothered to look too closely. But we are looking at this in the wrong light, because we are both modern, cosmopolitan, overtly jaded individuals. We've become accustomed to the incredible machinery undergirding all of our dietary choices to the point where we demand newness and innovation from everything--unless this particular place does something that no other place does, it's unworthy of our attention. We have normalized, in short, the fact that we can contact a restaurant from anywhere on earth and, in the space of a few minutes, have (someone's idea of) ethnic food prepared, packaged, and waiting for us. Think of what your hunting and gathering ancestors would have said about that. So you place your order and, as if by magic, in ten minutes your food is ready at China Wok. It is always ten minutes, regardless of the time of day or how busy they are. It's always hot and sizzly. The rice is never dry or old. Is it normal and boring, or some kind of miracle? The sesame chicken is very good. So is the moo shu. Actually, everything is good. Especially for takeout. So you should, y'know... eat there.

I love this place, it's my go-to Chinese food in St. Pete. I have tried dozens of strip mall Chinese food places, and this is hands-down the best one. Try the broccoli with garlic sauce (the small is quite enough), or the sesame chicken. The lunch special is a great deal with a ton of food, it's got a ton of good flavor, not overly salty or greasy.

Best Chinese food in South St. Pete by far. Only giving four stars because I'm lazy and wish that they delivered. You can't go wrong with this place. Friendly staff, fast service and great food!

I came here due to the high reviews, without high expectations having lived in FL for 4 years and knowing Chinese is awful down here. There was nothing special about this place, but it wasnt bad either, kinda bland.

Great value for the money. I have been to several China Woks in different cities and have been impressed with all of them. They look like "hole in the wall" take out chinese places, but these seem to be consistently better than others. I visited this particular store at 7pm on New Years' Eve. They were slammed Phone ringing off the hook and a dining room full of people. And yet I had to wait less than 10 minutes for my take out order. I ordered two combo dishes for myself and my fiancee. Took me about 15 minutes to get home and both entrees were still piping hot. I'm no foodie so I won't go into the fine details of te food. But my orange chicken had the right combo of spicy and orange in it without being too sweet. And the egg rolls weren't greasy.

I got the sweet and sour chicken and an order of crab rangoon and it wasn't bad. Nothing special.

Color me impressed. We got five different dishes and they were all better than expected. The Shrimp & Snow peas was truly outstanding. China Wok will be a regular stop for my family and most definitely our first choice for Chinese takeout.

Rarely give 5 star reviews but this place is authentic and great portions for the price. Selection is so vast that I won't order each dish here for a year. Their wontons weren't fresh, but their egg drop soup is to die for.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
