be forewarned: the sushi rolls here are fairly petite in size, sort of like a tea set version of big people sushi. the prices for the rolls are moderate so perhaps there is a price-size ratio in effect. nonetheless, there are a variety of rolls, all of which are pretty tasty, and are the best value. the volcano roll, with its' warm conch topper is unique and delicious. the rest of the menu struggles, however; stay away from their appetizers especially. i have ordered several different items, all with curious and disappointing results, particularly the chicken yakitori app which was amusingly tiny, mounted on a toothpick, dry, and COLD. stick with the nursery school baby bento size rolls: for the price, it's a bargain-ish sushi fix. **UPDATE** several larger rolls have been added, some with unique ingredients like banana, mango, using soy paper, etc. still moderately priced and consistently pretty good.

I recognize most people lack the dining opportunity of actual "in country dining" for a specific country. Having worked and live for many years in Asia-Pacific region, Wasabi is about as authentic as it gets for sushi presentation, taste and freshness. A great sushi chef who will also depart from the sushi menu and entertain special requests.A rare hidden gem.

When this place first opened, I was pretty skeptical. It has won my husband and I over, though! The prices--especially the lunch specials--are great, and the food has always been fresh and delicious. In the past 3 weeks, I've eaten there about 4 times for lunch. For about 7 dollars, I got chicken katsu, vegetables, fried rice, soup, and salad. So, your money will go far here. Service it great, too; the employees are very sweet. Wasabi is now one of my favorite places to dine in St Augustine. Try it!

My first trip yesterday to this restaurant was surprisingly good. It is small, very clean, good service, and the tempura was excellent and reasonably priced. For me, the location is perfect and I plan to make it a regular stop.

Very good! Fresh fish, tight rolls, little rice. Family restaurant. Very relaxing atmosphere. Would definitely return and recommend others. 2 ppl stuffed with sushi and 2 large saki = $85 plus tip.

Ehh, there are better Japanese places in Saint Augustine. Sushi was just satisfactory. No artistic or unique rolls offered like I expected. Side salad was very disappointing. Small and lacking in flavor. The service could have made up for the food, but service was barely existent and when the waitress did come over it was very hard to communicate with her. Probably would not recommend or return.

I always pull for the underdog. I thought I would give this place a shot, hoping to be pleasantly surprised. However, I was instead rather disappointed. Green salad was only lettuce, no tomato or cucumber. I ordered salmon, white fish, tuna, and sweet shrimp nigiri accompanied by a California roll. First, the shrimp smelled bad so I immediately placed it in the empty salad bowl. The nigiri was just OK. Not the freshest I ever had. Suggest you drive into St Augustine which I regret not doing.

Went here while on vacation. They seemed to be more interested in satisfying take out orders than dine in ones. Hibachi grill was ok but the sushi was very bland. Perhaps I am used to the sushi places in the DMV but i cannot recommend this place; the sushi was very bland and tasteless.

My friend and I went shopping at Saks and were hungry, we fell into this place nearby and were so surprised it was super fresh and excellent. Well definitely come back.

Stopped by on our way to our hotel. Do not be put off by the strip mall location. We had excellent grilled salmon with fried rice and miso soup. Nice family owners and excellent service. We will be back to try interesting rolls.

Wouldn't recommend this one. First the ginger salad was small and, as it turned out, inedible. Give them credit for deleting it from the bill. The rolls were just ok. The couple of pieces of nigiri were fair. Nothing to write home about. Nice family run place. Mom waits tables while three toddlers run around the restaurant. Like eating in the home of someone you don't know. Food...not great. Service...ok.

If you must get a sushi fix then stop in hear. If you can wait 10 more mins goto Sakura on San Marco street in Downtown St. Augustine.

I'll admit I was little skeptical. Sushi? In Florida? In a Publix parking lot? But, I gave it a chance and was pleasantly surprised by this little strip mall sushi joint. Very nice family restaurant vibe and spacious interior considering the location. We got there around 11:15 (first customers of the day dorks) but within about 20 minutes, there were several take out orders being placed as well as several other tables filling up quickly. Do yourself a favor and order the lunch special ($6.99 for two rolls or $9.99 for three rolls) that include the sushi rolls of your choice, miso soup and a salad. Seriously a deal! The quality of the rolls were fresh and although a little petite in size, were just the right portion for lunch. I don't eat any meat, so I went with the veggie rolls which had a nice variety of mushrooms, avocado and cucumber. My sister got a variety that included shrimp, spicy tuna and the sweet potatoe rolls. Usually with the lunch specials at other places you are limited on the types of rolls you can mix and match. Not so here! Topped it off with iced grean teas and mochi red bean ice cream for dessert. For two of us, it was under $30 for a pretty stellar lunch. Enourage y'all to check it out (oh gosh, two days in the south and this is how I'm talking now!)

At first view this place appears VERY authentic Japanese. The green tea was Japanese style (powder, not tea bag), chopsticks/silverware across the top of the plate area like Japan. Nice paper screen imitation decor of bamboo leaves. We ordered scallop & veggie tempura and pork katsu. Portions were large for $7 lunch entrees. Service was swift. The tempura batter was thicker than "classier Japanese joints" or "real Japan" and soggier (but still good). The katsu (cornmeal crust on boneless pork chops) was good but a little too browned and "chewy". The brown teriyaki-soy flavored dipping sauce that was brought for both entrees was served too icy cold (better at room temp) and not nearly as good as "yummy sauce" served by other restaurants. The side grilled veggies were good but also needed a sauce. The fried rice was mediocre, steamed rice was nice and sticky. We were served by a very pregnant Asian waitress whose clothes did not match well over her belly and she seemed in "distress" at the waitressing effort. This did not make for a pleasant interaction. This place has potential but needs to improve in the "non-sushi" touches department as well as service. A smile and great attitude would have pushed me to 4 stars. It's located next to Chinese and Mexican eateries--and I left thinking I'd try the other places next time, rather than "gotta get back here right away".

Yum! On an unplanned stopover in St. Augustine, we happened across this Japanese restaurant in a strip mall near our hotel. Yelp reviews were encouraging, so we gave it a shot. So glad we did! Our party of three ordered a ton of food, the best of which was the lobster roll. No, wait, maybe it was the salmon sushi. Or the eel. My daughter votes for the lobster roll. Really, it was all top notch. Super nice waitress. This restaurant is an unexpected gem. We will go back for lunch tomorrow on the way out of town. What better recommendation is there?

New restaurant, great food and service. Try the cucumber roll. Located in the new Publix shopping center.

Really good sushi! We had the veggie, sweet potato, and chicken tempura rolls, and everything was really tasty.

I was on vacation and looking for a break from the usual beach style seafood and so decided to go for some sushi. Wasabi Sushi King was decently close by so we decided to give it a shot. Arrived and ordered drinks and the fried gyoza appetizer. When the gyoza arrived we found that it was not fried but instead pan cooked, there was also quite lot of liquid trapped inside the wrappers so they were pretty bland tasting. For our main course my wife and I ordered sushi platters, that came with salads and miso soup. When the salads arrived the lettuce was covered in water and the small squirt of bright orange "ginger" dressing didn't taste like any ginger dressing I've ever had. I stirred my salad to distribute the dressing but the lettuce was so wet that the dressing ended up running off of it and collecting in the bottom of the bowl as a bright orange watery soupy mess. Neither salad was eaten beyond the first 2 bites. At this point the miso soup was used to wash the taste of the salad out of my mouth. The soup was good but I presume it came from some sort of powdered soup mix. The main course arrived and the sushi and sashimi were good sized but the fish tasted bland and was a bit warmer than I would have liked. The owners children were in the dining area and one baby cried incessantly for about 3/4 the time that I was in the location :| Bill was $50.00 after tip. Verdict? Skip it, go to Steak & Shake.

Again...coming from Cali...I assumed this place was gonna b aiiight. But it was pretty good! Sushi was made right....gyoza was on point...service was good...considering it was pretty busy ...and resto was clean. Definitely impressed by the outcome especially from this location. If your in a Japanese food fix...around St. Augustine...hit this place up.
