The Ruben & the Cheeseburger were excellent... Staff is the best. The owner (from Cuba) plays piano-the night we were fortunate to eat there-was Blues & Oldies! Love this place! If I ever pass this way again this place will be first on my list!

Anybody just see the article in the Jacksonville Business Journal??? This place was closed recently for two days because the state inspector found live roaches and flies in the kitchen. I think I'll eat somewhere else.

Wandered in by accident lured in by karaoke. The server was so friendly and nice. The karaoke was super-fun, the host did a great job keeping the audience singing and engaged. It was nice that they had food as well as drinks. Menu seemed to have several nice options. A great place for a fun night out.

Absolutely no flavor in any of the dishes. The kitchen is tiny and mostly visible to the restaurant, so we watched the cook take frozen cutlets out of a bag and pop them in the microwave. The black beans as a side were not even drained from the can they came in. Service was hard to come by even though we were the only diners for the majority of our meal. The only up - side was the live music.

Don't be turned off by the quietness of this place. The food is great, the chef is accommodating to allergies (gluten) and substitutions, and the staff is friendly. Vieja Ropa is juicy and flavorful. The tostones are yummy but a little greasy (I sat mine on a napkins before eating and they were still oily). Some of the meat is dry, but on the plus side, everything is toted to be organic or all natural. The food did take a while to come out, so it's probably made fresh.

Excellent French onion soup. Nice sandwiches. Great ambiance. Super friendly staff. Nice music.

I watched the chef microwave both our meals. The frozen vegetables brought back memories of forcing them down as a kid. There's no accountability and a tourist town, but we felt like we had a responsibility to let the public know. You're welcome.

Found this place by accident ... And it definitely won't be an accident when we return !! Everything is fresh , all natural and organic and cooked to perfection ! Yes , it's a tiny hole in the wall , but it's the best daggum hole in the wall ever ! Two thumbs way up !!

We came for lunch and they had great happy hour deals, just no real liquor or cocktails. Food was good, except I find it hard to believe this cuisine is Cuban. The Ropa Vieja was not Cuban. They used barbecue sauce. That's a crime.

Can't speak for the food as all I ordered was a small plate of stale nachos and salsa which tasted like it was from a jar and one beer. A dead guy ale to be exact. The reason for my first and only review on yelp.... A WARNING!!! Do not go to this place. My order, worth about 10 bucks was paid for with my atm card and I left a good tip for this order, about 4 dollars. A 40pct tip I figured was good enough. Apparently the tall, thin, black haired tat sleeved, female bartender felt she deserved better than that. I returned home and checked my bank statement and noticed she actually added a digits somehow and FRAUDULENTLY GAVE HERSELF A 50 DOLLAR TIP. I have already disputed it which required me to drive a 40 min round trip to my bank. I have tried to call but get a runaround on when the manager is and isn't there. Beware of this tourist trap! My best advise if you see a woman who looks like the lead singer from the black crows, but with boobs, pay cash and count your change twice. Disgraceful and disappointing. I wish I could rate less than zero stars.

Great place. Very very small. The food is AMAZING. Must try- onion rings, the burrito bowl, the fish wrap and the fish sandwich! All were absolutely amazing!!!! The live music and atmosphere of the place make for an excellent dinner and experience.

i am not sure how anyone honestly gave this place a good review. the only reason i have it a two is because the server was very helpful and nice. i thought this place had alot of upside from the reviews, the menu items, and cheap prices. however the portion sizes are VERY small for a "best seller" entree. it was also very bland and not restaurant worthy. the person i was with ordered a sandwich and it was basically the same bland chicken between bread. i would not recommend this place. its also a peruvian restaurant not a cuban. adios felicia!

Best kept secret on the square! Good food, good service! I haven't caught the music yet as it is on the weekends, but I'm sure the Latin flavor would come through!

We arrived here as a matter of chance. After dismal (non-existent) service at another local eatery, we left and wandered to find another spot. A daunting storm on our heels, we ducked into the first place available, and it was Tempo. We were greeted with great friendliness and welcomed heartily. I ordered the reuben (love a good reuben), and my friend ordered the chef salad. Both were great. The chef salad had slabs of ham and a generous portion of turkey. The greens were all fresh and crisp. My reuben was magnificent. It was stuffed to the gills with flavorful corned beef and saurkraut. Everything about it was delicious. If I were a local, this would be my go-to place! I highly recommend them. The service was great and the food was prompt and delicious.

Great location! Great atmosphere! Great music! I had heard a little about Tempo and decided to try it out. The minute I walked in the door I felt at home. I was greeted by warm smiles and the service was great too! This is my go to spot to have a few drinks and listen to great music. Tempo offers a great variety of music to enjoy. I have heard Latin music and nice acoustical guitar. I think they had a blues group that plays also. I feel comfortable sitting at the bar by myself because I have always had fun conversations. Give it a try, glad I did!

I really didn't want to write this review because I just want to keep this place a secret! It's one of those gems you rarely find but when you do...you just want to tell everyone. I haven't had the food there yet but the staff is friendly and service is excellent. It seems that each time I've visited it was to sit down for a drinky and end up meeting new people. On Friday nights you will be entertained by the talented Cuban musicians, Mario & Pepe, who are the highlight of the experience. They play Spanish guitar and congas with a fabulous latin rhythm flair and with such passion. You can tell right away their love for music, it's in their blood! I love the way they interact with the patrons and make everyone happy it's a place where you just want to have a few drinks, sit back and relax, or even get up and dance to enjoy the music, laugh, a few more drinks.. you immediately get the sense that......"life is good".
