I love this place. I've only had delivery as I have physical issues which make getting out a little dicey. As you can imagine, delivery has its own set of issues, and I know it's no substitute for getting it just moments from the kitchen. However, I get that 'moments from the kitchen' feel and taste from delivery. Such a treat. Every dish I've tried has been fantastic. I'm surprised I don't read more about the bread. A fresh loaf of French baguette with just the right amount of butter, garlic and spices. Always delivered HOT. It's so so good; just right for sopping up those last bits of sauce. Wonderful by itself. Tonight I had the lasagne for the first time; it won't be the last. Mercy. My son had the dish with shrimp, chicken, sausage, mushrooms in a light wine sauce. He was thrilled...said everything about this dish was outstanding. One thing I love is the fresh veggies in dishes. Mushrooms are still firm to the bite and not squishy, as is the eggplant. I'm puzzled by the folks who say the prices are high. Nothing could be further from the truth. Good food isn't cheap. You want quality, prepared well, it costs, and I'll gladly pay what I consider to be these rather modest prices. You want cheap; there are far too many places where you can get it. If you've never eaten here and love great Italian food, go. You'll turn into a fan.

Awesome food! I ordered the Romeo and Juliet with the sauce on the side, but it didn't even need any sauce it was so good! For a tiny hole in the wall place located in a strip mall in Riverview this place is amazing. The server, Michael, was extra attentive and very delightful to talk to. I'd totes go back here!

I remember when this place opened. My sister in law worked here. At first I was skeptical because it's in a strip mall but to my surprise the food isn't bad at all. I've actually been back many times over the years and usually have a pretty good experience.

So disappointed that they removed the steak and pappardelle pasta from the menu. Went there Friday night with a party of 7 and 5 of us wanted to order this entree. The waiter said they took it off because steak was too expensive. I even offered to walk next door to Winn Dixie and buy some steaks if they would make it! Portions are still good size (most are $10-14) but don't include a salad, limited wine selection. Service was a little slow ---not enough waiters and a busy take out business.

The best of the best for Italian food. Authentic Italian owners from Italy. If you are old school Italian or want to eat like Nonna made it - come eat here!!!

All around fantastic! Delicious food, friendly staff, and very clean beautiful interior. Doesn't look like much from the outside but step inside and you'll feel like you were whisked away to a cafe in Rome (disclaimer: I've never been to Rome). I can't say enough about the decor and design of the restaurant. It's a work of art. This place is always packed on the weekends but on weekday evenings you'll get very attentive service. All the food seemed extremely fresh and made to order. The sangria is delicious. The bread is baked to perfection and served fresh out of the oven. The menu options are plentiful. I had the chicken florentine and I can vouch for that. I was especially impressed with the side of freshly grilled veggies. A lot of restaurants will serve veggies that are overcooked, previously frozen, and just overall sad. But this made me jump for joy at the cellular level. Feel free to discuss modifications if it suits you. My dad doesn't care much for creamy sauces so they prepared his dish with an alternative and he raved about it. It was my dad's birthday and they did a little something special for him without my asking so I was really impressed with that. Thank you very much for giving us a wonderful experience. We will certainly be back!

Very good food! Served fast, nice atmosphere. I had the Romeo and Juliet. My wife had the Sinful Signature Dish. Both were very good. My 5 year old had the mac and cheese and loved it. No Kraft here... good mac and cheese. We'll be back.

The food is so good! But the service is so horrific it ruins it. Get it as take out. All the pastas and the calimari is awesome. The service is so bad that I have been sitting here for 20 minutes waiting for them to realize that they already took my card. Seriously. Choose take out!

What a surprise! I've been past here at least 3,687,469 times but had never been inside. What I thought was a sandwich shop turned out to be a very nice sit down restaurant. After reading previous reviews we tried it out expecting the unexpected. Let's get this out of the way right now. From the moment we walked in we had impeccable service, not just from our server but all servers. The hot bread served with olive oil and balsamic was yummy and we plowed through it. We were brought a refill of both, nice. I ordered the Romeo and Juliet, normally served with a creamy garlic sauce, with their Bologanese Sauce. My request was handled nicely with no problems. This dish is fabulous. Penne pasta with pancetta, tomato, mushrooms, chicken, spinach and topped with absolutely delicious shrimp. $15.99, well worth it. Wife had the shrimp scampi over linguini. What I expected as a garlic heavy dish turned out to be a fresh, lemon infused beauty, wife ate it all, $17.99. Desert was a just ok Creem brûlée but hey this is not a desert restaurant. Good Italian dishes cooked fresh in a nice neighborhood place. We even got a $5 coupon for the next meal. Can't wait to try the chicken parm.

Really it's 3-1/2 stars, but I'm rounding up since there are not a lot of great Italian options in this area! When I first walked in, the awful smell of the scented candles immediately irritated me. But it was a very nice room. Server was attentive and pleasant. The food though... Good. Not great. Was really hoping for great. The prices were a little high for what you get. But not outrageously high. The bread and dipping oil was a nice plus. But the pasta was just ok. The chicken was just ok. The sauce was just... you guessed it, ok. The search goes on for great Italian in Tampa Bay. So far it's the Laughing Cat in Ybor and Italia Mia in St. Pete.

Enjoyed our meals here. The service was great and the Sangria's are the best in town! My husband had the all time favorite spaghetti and meatballs and I filled up on their amazing Chicken Alfredo Your Way and I added shrimp which were succulent and huge. I would highly recommend this restaurant to those who like a smaller environment with personal service. They were very busy for Mother's Day but the service was great and it did not take long for our food to arrive. They were certainly prepared for the day and they even gave all Mothers a fresh cut red rose. Excellent food, great service and wonderful environment.

My goodness! The pleasures of Italian food. A marvelous atmosphere, and a beautiful decor and authentic food. You got to love the tiramisu. Two thumbs up. :)

The menu initially was appealing and we have been here before, years ago. Thought it was good to go the second time around. Heavens no! How times have changed!!!Slowest service, especially on a Friday...you would think to staff more on a weekend when you know everyone mostly eats out on Fridays to get out and break away from cooking at home, every day, throughout the week! People work hard and deserve a break to eat at a nice restaurant. This place deserves only 1 star for the decor and alluring menus. However, I am contacting the Dept of Health on your horrible over-priced food! I got food poisoning from your dirty disgusting food. My stomach turned upside down after eating from this restaurant! It was so painful, I just hope my kid or husband doesn't have the same symptoms! First of all, hair found in the pasta. So gross I lost my appetite and felt so nauseated! The iced tea tasted watered down with you all drowning the tea with ice cubes, which you probably touched with your dirty hands! The calamari was the only dish that tasted semi-decent. The Seafood Rosotto was a 1 out of 10, way over-priced for hardly any seafood. This is a WARNING, to all consumers...eat at your own risk, don't get sick! If you go here, you are getting duped by disgusting Italian Food! Go to Carrabas where the service and food are a million times better!

Great Italian food! We've done both dine in and take out. My personal favorite is the Mama Mia's spaghetti & meatballs. Have them add in the italian sausage. It's great. We've make it a point to have dinner there monthly. Service is great, food outstanding, great italian bread and sangria is sweet and delicious. This is Riverview's hidden gem. I highly recommend it, especially if you care about supporting local businesses over chain restaurants. Go, and go often.

Great food, decent prices and attentive staff! I ordered the Romeo and Juliet and it was delicious! My hubby had the spaghetti and meatballs and was very happy with his meal as well! The staff were very quick to refill drinks, and the atmosphere of the place was definitely more refined than the outside would have suggested. We will be going again! Yum!

I have past this place so many times , even if I stopped at Sweetbay's next door I never even noticed it. My friend mentioned it the other night so I went online and checked it out and it got decent reviews but I was still hesitant myself , a good Italian restaurant in Riverview?? Not that its a bad area but just nothing you would expect to find here and in a strip mall to boot. So my friend ordered something off the menu for take out. I personally do not like this practice , you lose so much of the flavor and experience of eating it there, pizza is one thing but a entree takeout, I avoid doing, My take on it also is , for that matter I can make it myself for 1/2 the price and double the portion. My Sicilian Grandmother and Nep Mother taught me well and most food I can cook fairly well, of course not anywhere of a chef caliber but I never had any complaints. She ordered the Signature Dish which consisted of grilled chicken tossed with pancetta, sauteed mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes & spinach in their signature alfredo sauce. Sounded good but I figured I'd let her be the guinea pig and see if its worth eating. The guy who answered the phone had an somewhat heavy Italian accent , a very good sign. To me, that's like going to a chinese restaurant and seeing other chinese patrons there, that's "usually" a good sign that the food is very good. I have the say I was very impressed with the place nothing what I would expect to be in Riverview, the guy once he heard my Italian last name we chatted about where I was from yadda yadda , so I was impressed when I left there. ( this may seem like I am leading up to a big let down ) Came back to my office and gave a taste and I was very impressed even in take out form it was very good. Even the bread that came with it was good, Yes I am very picky about the bread too. , Was it the best? , no but It was the best Italian I have tasted in this area or at least this part of the Tampa area. I have friends who rave about Buco in Brandon, are you kidding? to me that's like a upscale olive garden and even that's not saying much. Yes I am biased but I know there are much better options out there, if you want Italian, your better off going to a good authentic Italian rest. If you go there and don;t see Italians there, I suggest you don't go. Just as I would be leary about going to a Sushi place owned by Greeks. So if your in the area and looking for some good Italian cooking check this place out , from preliminary findings its a hidden gem in Riverview. I will check this place out soon and give a updated review from dining experience and other menu options. Heads Up: If your headed south on 301 its about 1/2 mile south of Fred's Market on the right side, it comes up fast and its set back located on the north side of the SweetBay shopping plaza. If your heading north, its on your left side just after you pass Dunkin Donuts.

The food here is good but nothing too crazy. I'm not sure if the prices have changed at all since I was there a few years back, but this place was really overpriced then. The atmosphere is nice, but being in a grocery store plaza it's smaller than your average restaurant. I would go back, but only if they've lowered their prices.

One of the best Italian options in the area. I love their mozzarella and tomato caprese, fettuccine alfredo, cannoli, and sangaria. The owners and most of the staff are friendly and laid back, in a good way. The restaurant and bathrooms are clean and organized. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, not necessarily causal, but not at all formal. The restaurant is a little small and tight, so don't expect to have a private experience, unless they are not busy. My only complaint about this restaurant is that they are too expensive.

Dined here Saturday and was actually impressed to find this location out in Riverview. I had a pretty good experience here, although the Fettuccine Alfredo I had ($9.99) did not really live up to my expectations of my favorite Italian dish. My Step-Father's Sinful Chicken Parmesan did however taste great and I will probably order this on future visits. The atmosphere inside is great and I think sitting closer to the back was actually a good idea here. The waitress was attentive and made sure we had a good dinner and overall this place is a pretty nice Italian joint and located right in Riverview not too far from me.

Romeo & Juliet is to die for! Also, you have to try the mussels. My girlfriend and I consider this a gem in our new neighborhood. This is a quaint little place- the chef does amazing things with sauces. It is our first thought when going out to eat. We love the Romeo and Juliet so much, we ordered a half tray for an at-home party. It was a huge hit.

We arrived 20 minutes before closing and were welcomed in. We were never rushed through our dinner either. I ordered the eggplant and it was fabulous ! Their overall menu prices appeared a bit high and the a la carte items seemed a little high priced, However the quantity and quality was worth it. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. Serving portions were quite large. I would definitely return!

Called them at 7:15 on a Monday to see if they were open, they said yes at least for an hour, we showed up 25 min later and the door was locked and staff ignored us standing outside reading the hours saying they were open til 9. If you want to close say so, don't have me drive 20min to find out. If I try them again I'll comment on the food.

The "Best Restaurant of the Year for 2009" sign hanging outside is no joke. This place is wonderful. Being a small space in the Sweet Bay shopping plaza, I was surprised when I walked in and found myself in a nice Italian restaurant. The prices are comparable to any reputable place ($14.99 for many of the dishes) and for good reason. My chicken crusted parmesan was perfect. It was crispy and the meat was tender and juicy. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the service was great, even though they were pretty busy on a Tuesday night. For dessert I had the Tuxedo Mouse Brownie. Oh... my... God... It was like floating on a heavenly cloud and then eating that cloud. Unbelievable! I split it with my husband and father-in-law and we were practically wrestling for the last bites. Even my husband, who ordinarily lacks a sweet tooth, was seen scraping the sides long after the plate was cleaned. I can't describe it any more than that - you just need to try it. Trust me. If you enjoy being giddy from a dessert, you need to order that item. The brownie is only a small part of it; it's mostly mouse, whipped cream, and deliciousness. I was very impressed with this restaurant and will definitely come back again. Don't let the location fool you - Italian Kitchen is the real deal.

Best restaurant we have discovered in the Riverview/Brandon area! We have enjoyed eating here a few times and found the food to be amazing, very reasonably priced and the service very friendly. We have always found ourselves almost alone in the dining room - uncertain if we've just been there at off times or if their business is just that slow.

I'm guessing this place may have changed ownership since the last time we visited. It used to be awesome. Now it's okay, but not as good as it used to be. I always get the grilled chicken in lemon butter sauce that comes with a side of spaghetti. You used to get two breasts and a generous portion of spaghetti. Last time, I got one small chicken breast and it was overcooked to the point it was difficult to cut, and not very enjoyable :( And the pasta size shrunk considerably, too. I understand the need to cut back some in this economy, but pasta is cheap, if you're going to leave the prices the same and give me a tiny little overcooked chicken breast, at least make up for it with a decent portion of spaghettti. They also change the sangria recipe, and sadly, I don't like the new version. This was too dry for my taste. I would still go there, but would opt for other places first. Next time, I think I'll try the spaghetti and meatballs and steer clear of my former favorite grilled chicken.

This was great restaurant a few years back but now with either new ownership or the bad economy, what used to be a generous dish is almost now almost the size of a mini muffin. Memo to Italian Restaurant, jack up your pricing but do not compromise dish size!

Great Italian food made locally! We've been back several times. Every dish we've had has been excellent! The service can sometimes be a little slow. Everything is made fresh, which is part of the reason, but they could also use more staff at times!

Service is OK - Last time we were here there were only 2 other tables and 2 waitresses working, and we still waited quite a long time to order - so long that my husband had to actually flag the waitress down and say, "Um, can we order now" Food is OK - The "pink" sauce is yummy (combine red + alfredo), but I am fairly sure they don't make their own pasta on-site, especially not the stuffed ones, such as tortellini and ravioli. Ambiance is nice. Parking is easy.

Pretty good meal, if you order the right things. My daughter ordered their signature bow tie pasta dish, I had a sausage florentine. Both were excellent, at the right price and modest portion. My wife ordered a mac and cheese (advertised as "Not your Grandma's"), and my son ordered a chicken parm, both of which were ordinary at best and therefore dissapointing. But the atmosphere is nice, and I'd certainly go back again.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
