Love me some frozen custard and try to get it whenever I'm in the south east. Ritter's seems like a beloved chain with long ties to the community. This is nice, clean, large location was easy to find, with plenty of parking. In order to highlight the "custardyness" of this treat, I ordered a vanilla cone. It was good, but very white and not very "custardy" As I understand it, eggs are the difference and there was little evidence of their presence. To me, it was just a slightly more rich version of soft serve :( As such, it was also seemed to be a bit overpriced.

The staff was very friendly, just had a hard time working the register. My order wasn't too difficult yet I still had to repeat it probably 5 times. The frozen custard was good, great variety and fast service. I will be back!

Ice cream is tasty and high quality, the prices are pretty fair for the quality of product. Indoor seating would be nice though

Get a glacier. It's vanilla frozen custard with mix-ins. I like peanut butter and chocolate chip. Banana and pineapple is great too. They have lots of outside seating under umbrellas. There's a park where the kids can play. The place is dog friendly too.

This is the best Ice cream bar none! I grew up with frozen custard and this brings me back to my childhood!.

a favorite guilty pleasure of Daytona. Great frozen custard of all manner of flavors. Just had banana and chocolate cone, great top off of a 4th fireworks display on the beach. Can also recommend flavors for next day. Red raspberry is awesome! Owner is a very nice fellow, John, and his staff is friendly, efficient and polite. open till midnite on the 4th of july and some days when the Daytona raceway has evening races. we stop anytime we are in town.

Nice selection of flavors, but I had a big chunk of ice in my sundae. (Not my idea of a good topping) A bit pricey for what you get. Fun place though. Nice outdoor seating, cute toddler playground next to even more outdoor seating.

I love frozen custard! I had no idea what frozen custard was until my mom brought me to Ritter's on one of my visits. It is amazing! Ritters has a lot of flavors and a lot of ways to get your custard. We usually go with the strawberry sundae with toasted pecans. The medium is PLENTY big and can totally serve as a meal. In fact we have gone there for "dinner" on numerous occasions. A couple things to note though... They only have outdoor seating, so visiting when the weather is nice is a good idea. Otherwise you may have to sit in your car. Their service isn't speedy but it isn't because they aren't trying. It seems like no matter what day, time of day, or time of year you go they are always busy. Thats a good thing right? But because of that sometimes you will have to wait in line for a bit. So keep that in mind if you are in a hurry. But believe me, it is totally worth it. They are a little pricey. One of the reasons that we don't mind is because it is delicious and as I mentioned before it could easily replace a meal. And sometimes i'd just rather spend my money on a strawberry sundae than a value meal from a fast food restaurant. If you are in the area I would suggest giving them a try. They aren't near the beach so if you are visiting make sure to look them up ahead of time. They are only about 5 minutes from the highway, so its an easy stop before you head back to where ever you came from :)

Great custard place!! They have a great selection of frozen treats for everyone's tastes. Their light flavors are alright, but everything else is just fine. Admittedly they are pricey for a desert stand. They can get pretty busy in the evening on nice days so it may take a bit at those times.

Wow I didn't remember them being this pricey. Their prices are ridiculous! The frozen custard is really good though. They have a lot of flavors to choose from. I had heath bar custard with Reese's cups mixed in yum! They also sell Nathan's hog dogs. Service is very slow and it took forever for the group ahead of us to order. There is only outdoor seating here so come on a nice sunny day.

I have a list of places I am required to go to when I am back in the Daytona area visiting. This is one of them. This time I was able to get the pumpkin custard, and just because I can, I added a scoop of birthday cake. Both were great. The service was quick the custard was awesome. I will be back next time I am in town.

Not bad, got the equivalent of a blizzard with Butterfinger bits in it and vanilla ice cream. Not a super huge fan of the custard (I would probably enjoy regular ice cream more) but I was pretty happy with what I got. Nice job guys.

Just ate here for the first time. It's a great 50's style ice cream place, and they have good hot dogs. Fun for a sunny day and inexpensive too. Also the place is very clean.

My wife went to Purdue and was always saying how she missed the ol days of that frozen custard. Well I saw a groupon with frozen custard and bought it to surprise my wife. After lunch one day I took her to Ritter's. My wife was thrilled to see a frozen custard place. We ordered the glacier med size, strawberry and coconut. Let me tell you my glacier was filled with fresh strawberry bits, delicious! My wife asked them not to blend it too much because she likes it more thick and she loved her order as well. What was puzzling was the 1st 3 times using my groupon, Ritters would punch my card and give me my glacier. Then recently they said that starting 2013 I would have to pay tax for the glacier.. Anyhow, sounds like they dropped the ball and am passing the buck to their customers. It would be kind of expensive if you didn't have a groupon or a promo.

I'm really not a fan of Ritter's. I do enjoy the fine patio and relaxed, fun atmosphere of sitting around at this community landmark. But I'm just not a fan of the Frozen Custard. The "vanilla" just doesn't seem to have a flavor at all. It doesn't taste like anything. I usually get a sundae for nearly $6.00 and if it wasn't for the strawberry sauce, hot fudge sauce, etc., the whole thing would have no flavor. I find that odd. It's pricy, but the serving size is decent. Maybe I just need to try something else. But so far, my reaction is "Meh. I've experience better."

God, this place is so good. While this Custard stand is a chain, this is the only Ritter's location in the state of Florida -- all of the rest are located in Indiana, Iowa, or some other state where frozen treat stands are only open a portion of the year. The name is a misnomer, though, since it is not really custard. It is more along the lines of French Vanilla with additional flavors. It is that additional egg that is added that gives it such a wonderful creaminess and the lack of infused air which helps give a compact and rich texture. They always have six fresh flavors "on tap" and many more in the freezer. I do enjoy the Vanilla and Chocolate but look forward to their Turtle flavor when it is made fresh. All seating is exterior, so feel free to bring the pups! On certain days, pups even get a free cup.

My husband is from Port Orange, so every time we are in town to visit his mom, we have to come to Ritter's. I'm from NW Florida, and we have a place that is similar (Shake's in Destin, FL), and so it's nice to have a little "taste" of home when we're in Central Florida. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Rain or shine, hot or cold, this place is always buzzing with people. I usually get the peanut butter sundae. It's worth every calorie!

Rich, creamy, very good stuff. A smidge pricey, I wouldn't come here all the time even if I lived close, but definitely worth it as a treat!

Great custard. I love their peanut butter mountain sundaes. I drive nearly 20 miles just to get my custard fix. The facility is clean and employees are very polite. The only detraction is the price. I absolutely love the product but if you buy 3 sundaes you will kill the better part of a 20 dollar bill. Nonetheless I visit there often because it is just so good!

The custard here is really good. Not too much sugar like Bruster's (hate it). The gelato is pretty good also. If its hot and humid out side you might choose to sit in the car unless you like ice cream soup. No indoor seating.

I actually remember coming here when this place first opened, and really not much has changed. Whether that is a good or bad thing I can't tell. It's basically a run-of-the mill custard shop (the kind they have tons of up north) but it is a bit of a rarity down here. Don't really know why as it is famously hot down here, but oh well.... The Good: Yummy Custard: If you have never tried Frozen custard, you owe it to yourself to go grab some. It tastes a lot like soft serve icecream, but with a fuller, ricer taste. And since Ritter's is fresh made, it just tastes awesome. The Bad: All Outside: I understand that an outside frozen custard place might be charming, but I really much prefer the inside ice cream parlor set-up, especially because of all the bugs outside. I mean not only do you stand a good chance of being bitten, but one might end up in your frozen custard as well! Expensive: Okay, Frozen Custard is a premium treat. But honestly, the prices here border on ridiculous and I only drop by when I have a coupon. I really like Ritter's Frozen Custard, but I just wish tey had some inside seating space as well as some better prices. Then maybe I would go there more often! Overall 6.3/10 = Really Expensive Ritters

I tried to stay away from reviewing chains, but I have to make an exception for Ritter's. If you have never had frozen custard, get down there immediately to have your mind blown. It's a lot like regular ice cream, but with extra goodness that makes it obscenely good. This is an outdoor ice cream stand, with misting fans and umbrellas thoughtfully provided. They do the standard ice cream shop fair, but again, with that magical ingredient called frozen custard. Open pretty late most nights, this is a great place to stop with friends.
