Sweet Tomatoes Menu

It's OK... A good salad bar if you like salad, but no meat options at all and the only protein options are beans to go your salad. A little pricey, too.

I have visited sweet tomatoes locations in many states and I have to admit that I feel that the south florida locations are lacking. They have an okay salad bar however the last time I visited most of the vegetables for the salads were frozen and a mess. They do not have that great of a selection of other foods or drinks as well. I really wish the locations down here would get the miniature ice cream cones that other locations have because it makes for a nice end to a meal.

Any review should consider the "quality versus prize" aspect - and Sweet Tomato is a good example. The food here is always extremely fresh and the staff is amazing. We go there once a week and we are greeted like family - literally. If you wanna eat healthy and get full for a very low prize this is the place to go!

I was hesitant to come here my first time, but after that I was hooked! There's so many salad toppings that I've held the line up a few times, although I've now got it down to a science. The ready-made salads are pretty good too. The soups are a hit or miss, but I can find at least one that I really like - the chowders and albondigas are a safe bet. Everything in their bakery is all warm and toasty - they disappear fast so there's always a new batch ready to be served. On one occasion, the fire alarm went off so we were forced to evacuate mid-dinner, but the manager was nice enough to give us passes for a free meal at our next visit. They switch up the menu every 15-30 days so you get something different every time. You can also join their "club veg" online and get coupons every month. Now go and eat to your heart's content!

I really love and missed this place when I was gone for three years. They have fresh vegetables, yummy soups, delicious breads and muffins and many other extras. I get veggies every single week and they are always fresh and satisfying. You might want to find coupons though; they have increased the buffet price significantly in the last few years.

Sweet Tomatoes is the most wonderful place on earth. You can't beat unlimited soup and salad! The soup choices are always terrific. And the salad bar always has the freshest produce. It's always a pleasure to visit. The staff is attentive and readily clears away finished dishes. I can't say enough good things about the restaurant.

Love sweet tomatoes ..unfortunately I remember it being much better than this. Note I also did used to go to the one in Boca Raton, and Coral Springs , so maybe things are different up there. Start off with a school cafeteria tray and grab some dinner plates (I recommend 2 plates for the salads, and so you don't have to come back up to the salad bar), and choose the right or left side of the salad bar, both sides have identical salads and foods for when it gets really busy here. **you can check online for the special variety limited edition meals served** Salads: -I really love the Cesar salad, and especially when there isn't a crowd so there is a slower turnover and the croutons and lettuce soak up the garlicky dressing- so good. I do believe they stopped being as generous with the fresh Parmesan cheese. -The Asian salad another winner! Great flavours and crunchy wonton strips that still stay crunchy if the turnover is slower. -my husband really liked the creamy Broccoli with cashew and bacon salad -I designate a dinner plate to a make- your-own salad. Mixed baby greens, spinach, romaine, hard boiled eggs, beans, shredded veggies, marinated veggies, pickles, seeds, choices of croutons , and a variety of salad dressings, and if you're really healthy or it's your preference there are vinegars and oil you can dress your salad with. The hot bar: Smaller portions tiny compared to what they used to be, a variety of pizzas not that tasty but mostly bread and some cheese. The bread is still great I love the multigrain variety and they offer whipped butters . The Soups: I came closer to 9 pm so I'm guessing the soups have been sitting there. The tastes were good, the noodles in the chicken soup was softer and huge (carbs always grow in soups) . I like to mix soups the chicken and rice, vegetable soup, and chicken noodle, makes a great combo and you can add additional rice and Tabasco sauce if you like. There are also a variety of creamy soups and my man is allergic to shellfish so he imagined the Corn Chowder soup to be 'chowder' and loved it. There are mini crackers you can add to your soups too. They also have a good chilli. There are baked potatoes and sweet potatoes, chopped scallions, bacon bits, shredded cheese, so you can make your own loaded potato. The baked desserts: I'm not that much of a fan- I guess being here at the end makes them a little dry. They keep them under hot lights. The chocolate lava cake is good with the frozen yogurt. The frozen yogurt: I love this machine I make the perfect swirl and never even worked in an ice cream shop! Too bad the other flavor was a limited Peach Cobbler so yuk! It tasted so artificial and was sad the chocolate flavor had a break from being served :( even the swirl yogurt mix was half vanilla, half peach cobbler just gross my man thought it was chocolate and vanilla! I'm glad he was my ginnea pig You can top the frozen yogurt with peanuts, granola, caramel, chocolate fudge, jello, tapioca pudding, and fresh fruit slices. A great buffet I definitely will crave when I want soup and salad...and and and.. If you've never gone to a Sweet Tomatoes try it out come hungry, and have an open mind, create and customize your own dishes , and enjoy!

When I first went to Sweet Tomatoes I had no idea what I was getting myself into or what kind of salad bar addiction I was starting. How it works: When you get to Sweet Tomatoes you grab a tray and a plate (sometimes I grab two, you know, for those really hungry days) and proceed down the salad bar picking from the various pre-made salads or building your own with the various fixings. Once you get to the end of the line, you grab your silverware, glass and you pay the cashier. I normally go for lunch and with a coupon pay $10.00. After you pay you can do a few things: 1. Sit down and eat. 2. See what else you can eat. 3. Find a seat and go back to the hot bar. What's great about this place is that there is more than just a salad bar. There is a soup bar which houses about 5-6 soups. A pizza bar which usually has three different pizzas which are usually cut up into tiny pieces. There is a baked potato bar (my favorite) as well as pasta bar which has macaroni and cheese and a spaghetti type dish. There is also a small dessert area as well as an ice cream station. Across from the ice cream station is where you get your drinks. They have gluten free items. The food is always fresh. The entire staff is always extremely pleasant. They have an amazing to-go box. There are little signs to put on your table to let them know if you're getting more food or if you've left. One thing to note: Your cell phone will not work in the building. I've been there with various people and never once has anyone's cell worked. Make sure to either go alone or go with someone you really like because you'll be forced to talk to them. The only thing I don't like is the actual set up of the restaurant. There is a bad flow to it and you have to leave out of the side which always confuses me. It brings you out to a random side street then you walk forward to the parking lot. It's very odd. Remember before you go to find a coupon online. There are always coupons available for this place. Skip the chocolate muffins. They aren't that great. And I'm sure when you're there you'll see me because I can't get enough of this place.

I don't come here often but every now and then its a good choice if you want "a little bit of everything" type of buffet. The prices have gone up since my last visit a few years ago. I paid $15 for dinner and drink, which is a little pricey for this place. The buffet area is kind of small but the restaurant itself is spacious. You grab a tray and start off at the salad bad. Then you pay and move on to their hot items. They have a pizza station, pasta station, 5 different soups, baked potato (including sweet potato) station, and desserts. Everything was average. Nothing really blew me away, but everything was okay. I feel like you get more bang for your buck at a buffet like Golden Coral, but if a large salad section is really what you want then this is a good option.

I really hope there's a place like this in Long Island! All you can eat salad and they have soup, mini pizza, and dessert! It's a healthy all you can eat buffet which we should have more of around our areas, very nice highly recommend

One of my favorite spots for lunch handsdown. I usually eat here with my family right at lunch/dinner transition time (about 3:30-5pmish), that way we get lunch prices but also dinner options to eat. Between the delicious salad choices and the various soup options, I am such a happy camper here. They also have pastas and potatoes for those who seek more carby foods. Last time they had a nacho bar- great for the kids. Also, if you have wee ones, they will love the ice cream bar too. Prices are fair, especially if you sign up for their email club and you receive their coupons. This is a great food destination for all those watching their caloric intake, and also a great destination to take your kids too & encourage them to eat veggies and fruits.

The veggies were fresh and the pasta was nice but they didn't have the cream of mushroom soup I've had before. I've been to better sweet tomatoes.

It's nice concept, I wish they had a organic section, overall it's convenient for "in a rush 'healthy' food". Big selection for salads and veggies, a couple of soups and pizza slices.

Love love love this salad bar. Totally filling but not uncomfortable. Nice pasta selection and dessert bar. If you get the paper you can always find some coupons too

I have been coming to this Sweet Tomatoes with my Bubbie (that's yiddish for grandmother in case you don't know) for years and years. Enough so that Ane, the hostess knows us by name. Sweet Tomatoes has been our go to lunch spot because it is healthy(ish) and yummy. I never even thought to review Sweet Tomatoes because A) I don't care to review chains, and B) I suppose my bias led my to believe that everyone had a good opinion on Sweet Tomatoes. But I have had a few recent experiences which brought me to this review. My 4 star rating applies to this Sweet Tomatoes exclusively. I have always gone to the Sweet Tomatoes in Plantation but recently tried the one on Andrews as well as the one Pines Blvd. On both occasions, I could not believe that I was walking into the same restaurant as the one I frequent in Plantation. These others felt a bit dirty, the salad not as fresh and the overall quality seemed lacking. This even extended to my sister finding a bug in her salad at the Pines location. Yes, I know its lettuce and sometimes buggies get caught up in it.. but yeah, thats flipping nasty. It is no wonder that people do not have a good illustration about S.T., if all the other restaurants are like that, I can't blame them. But this Plantation locations is clean, and I have never found a bug in anything and the salad is always filled up and fresh. I prefer to come here for lunch, dinner is just meh.

I was very excited to go here with a friend after we took a look at the menu, as everything looked awesome. I wish the experience lived up to the expectations, but I would be willing to give this place another try, as we did go about an hour and a half before they closed. The salads when you first walked in were in need of a refill on almost all accounts, and it their specialty salads were disappointing at best. The chicken wonton salad tasted like two week old semi-rotten Chinese food with some lettuce stuck in it, and the other options weren't much better. I digress though, I did also make a plate of my own salad that didn't suck horrifically. I proceeded to pay, where I patiently waited for the cashier to finish texting (and then getting yelled at by her manager for texting) before I could proceed to go eat. After having our salads and my friend providing an entertaining anecdote of how his iced tea tasted like dirty mop water, we perused the soup options. I opted for a chicken pot pie style soup, and my friend tried the chicken noodle. Mine was pretty good, but my friend's chicken was very tough and he decided not to even finish the small portion he took. I tried some of their macaroni and cheese as well, and let me put it this way: I am so bad of a cook that it's a rare occasion I don't set off a smoke alarm when cooking, but *I* have made better mac and cheese out of a box than this garbage. My favorite item during our meal was probably the "warm" buttermilk biscuit, and that's just because I really effin love biscuits.

Visiting down in Plantation for work for the month, and have family with me. We were looking find something kind of light, cheap and different. We have a Sweet Tomatoes by us, and always wanted to give it a try. Good reviews, and seemed like a great fit for our 4 year old to get some "noonles" (i.e. noodles). Well, it was a good last minute pick, because I want to go here every night now ! We had some great fresh food, with a lot of variety and left feeling stuffed but not greasy gross. Great drinks, soups, vegetables and bakery items. Also, the mix things up a bit, so I wanted to get more of the chicken tandoori salad the second visit, but the changed it to a fruit / nut rice salad that was actually better. And it is cheap ! Look for some 2 for $15 coupons floating around. See you there !

Definitely a new favorite of mine! Fresh salad, tons of topping choices, and a great dressing selection. And the bakery items are delicious! Highly recommend.

Every time I visit my family, we must make a trip to Sweet Tomatoes. I love their salad buffet - I always get too much food - I love the Tuna Tarragon pasta salad and the Asian Chicken wonton one too. I love making my own salad - I can pile on all the veggies I like and avoid those I hate with a passion :) There are also soups, pastas, and pizzas - the dessert options are always lacking though - I am not a fan of fro-yo so your options are baked goods. There is something for everyone there - even the red meat lover in your family or among your friends!

A very good soup and salad buffet. The salad bar starts with a few pre-made salads, which are usually pretty good, and then a few kinds of lettuce to start your own homemade salad. Add on fixings like cucumber, radishes, carrots, cheese, egg, etc., and one of a number of dressings. They also have some pre-made potato salad, tuna noodle salad, and something called Joan's Broccoli Madness. That stuff is probably the best way to eat broccoli ever devised. The salad bar is consistent and good. The pre-made salads and soups vary by season and they have a different theme each month (strawberry, lemon, greek food, all-American, etc.) I tend to find the bread and pasta products (muffins, foccacia, various hot noodle dishes) pretty hit or miss. Sometimes they're good (like the lemon muffins or the occasional seasonal foccacia), but often they are too dry or (in the case of the noodles) bland. Still, if you're looking for all you can eat soup and salad with free refills on beverages, this is the place to go. Also, if you sign up for their email list (Club Veg), they send you great coupons every other week or so for buy one get one free lunches and dinners. Probably one of the most generous deals around.

My experiences at Sweet Tomatoes have always been a joyous and filling experience. The veggies are always fresh and plentiful. Not a leaf unturned. This place makes a great attempt at being healthy. I say attempt... because even salad and creamy soups are ultra fattening at the rate I eat when I go there. The Chicken Wonton Happiness Joy of my life how could I live without it salad is freaking awesome. I always grab a heap of it first thing. The bar has almost anything you'd want on your salad. From butternut squash, to different types of pickles (who puts pickles on a salad? seriously.) Anyways. The selections are endless, the soups are always very well prepared, tasty, hardy, and filling. I personally am a Huge fan of the Homestyle Chilli (with some sour cream, cheese, and chives added)... but i'm a major major carnivore. If you're in a starchy mood, the baked potatoes are pretty mean. I find that the asiago cheese break is pretty tasty... and I love to end on a sweet note with some warm cobbler (Usually served during dinner) with some vanilla frozen yogurt on top. I always leave stuffed. The staff has always been super courteous... and getting those Sunday coupons generally helps too, as the pricetag is generally a bit more than most buffets. This place loses one star for the pasta though. The most flavorless pasta imaginable. It's nothing but filler. Also... I got an ultra long hair in my cobbler once. Blech

This place is probably the healthest place I eat at. Great salad bar with all kinds of choices. I love the soups too. The restaurant is always clean and the servers are quick to remove your used plates.Lastly, I love the ice cream. I take a soup bowl, not the little baby bowls next to machine, and fill the thing up with a swirl of chocolate and vanilla . So much for the healthly lunch..hahaha. Remember to tell them Dan send you and Stay Hungry!

I miss this place soo much! Since living in Tallahassee, I always tell myself I'm going to stop by a Sweet Tomato when I visit my parents but I hardly get around to it. Their salads are always fresh and OMG their breads are to die for. Great food for a great price! Best buffet ever

I decided to try Sweet Tomatoes b/c my parents ate there when they were vistiing a couple of months ago and they absolutely loved it. I was very pleasantly surprised with how cheap the cost of dinner is considering it's buffet style with a lot of very heatlhy options. I started out with a salad, a cup of chicken noodle soup and a baked potato. There are a lot of salad items to choose from and they are all extremetly fresh and tasty. The soup was excellent and it was prepared just the way I like it with big chunks of chicken and large noodles. I then tried the pasta along with a couple of pieces of the fruit bread. The pasta was really good and the bread was awesome. It had a nice little fruit flavoring inside of it which made it the perfect complement to my meal. The only thing I didn't like a whole lot was the chocolate chip muffin; however, I'm not a big muffin person anyway so I don't hold that against them. It is all-you-can-eat and drink which is nice and they are running a dinner special which makes your meal $9.00. With all the healthy options in the salad bar along with the pasta, side dishes and desserts, I definitely recommend this restauant. You won't be sorry!

Sweet Tomatoes surely does a lot of PR work for all Buffet Restaurants. Sadly, it is one of the very few that I love coming too. Fresh food, lots of greens, good service, so definitely a solid choice. However, I like the newer Sweet Tomatoes locations with their more stylize interiors. This one is a little dowdy, complete with tomato carpeting! I enjoy the monthly rotating recipes (Orange month is my favorite)

Been coming here for years. You cant beat the price and the variety. Soup, Salad, Desert. Maybe best to look up monthly theme before coming.

Good food at a reasonable price. The place looks clean, and the people that work there couldn't be friendlier. One of our favorite restaurants.

  • Brad M.

Again... I don't like chain restaurants, but... this one wasn't bad. Perhaps my favorite of national chain restaurants!? The food here seems fresher, cleaner and dare I say healthier?? I'm not sure about the latter, but they really do a good job at sweet tomato. The pasta was decent, the bread is delicious, the chili was very delicious, potatoes pretty good, ice cream great and salad options perfect. I look forward to the next time I'm in the area to give it another go. Still prefer a great local restaurant, but this ain't bad!

  • Joseph G.

Never been so excited about a vegetarian restaurant because I typically don't get full off of non-meat fare. However, in addition to vegetables, there are a lot of soups, breads, and pastas from which to chose that are both tasty and very filling. A really great place.

  • Annie A.

The thought of buffets gross me out, but I was dragged here and actually enjoyed my lunch. I only stuck with the salad buffet, I was too lazy to serve myself at the hot food bar.

Sweet Tomatos is a wonderful approach to a buffet - salads, fresh veggies, good soups, and fresh baked goods. Their price is reasonable for the quality of the food, but you can almost always find a coupon in the Sunday newspaper that will save you about $1.30! You begin in a line to create your own salad and a few selections from their premixed salads. Most of them are very good. I crave Joan's Broccoli Madness and ambrosia. Once that's over with, I head to the soup. Top soups for me (in order): New England Clam Chowder, Chicken Noodle Soup, House Chili. The chowder is ONLY offered on Fri and Sat nights, while the other two are offered daily. There is a also a baked potato and sweet potato bar with toppings. The muffins are seasonal and change daily, and they also have pizza and brea, The pizza and bread are pretty bad, though. Finally you have a pasta bar, fruit bar, and ice cream bar. The raspberry sorbet is great. Sometimes I just grab whatever hot cake they have and top it with vanilla ice cream, crushed granola , and caramel. The service is friendly, but always think creative! Steal chicken from the soup and add it to pasta, sour cream to the chili, etc etc. It may take a walk but adding your own idea can really transform some of the bad items to great ones. 3.5 stars overall!

Only real place of its kind in the area. They mix it up with with different pre-made salads about every 2 weeks to a month. Last time they had a bing cherry with blue cheese and it was very good. Greens and veggies are fresh. Good quality. A little lacking in the fruit department, but they also have a pasta bar with some interesting choices and 6 different kinds of soups that are made from scratch daily that are surprisingly good. Prices are ok, service is good.

  • Alejandra M.

This place is amazing and for someone who is on a diet like me. It works! It is a salad bar style buffet, but they also have these awesome home made soups that vary per month. If you are with family and you are the only one in that crowd who is on a diet, don't feel bad to take them here. There is something for everyone. They have a pasta bar too where you can mix and match sauces and they can make your pasta oin the spot. Their desserts are awesome and the service is amazing! For $10 you can't go wrong! It is healthy and it is very inexpensive. Go to their website first and just by signing up for the first time, you can get a coupon to save 50% off on your first visit. (I don't know how long that coupon will last) GOOD EATING!

  • Travis G.

A great place. Always will fill you up. similar to a Fresh Choice out in San Francisco, CA. Gotta beat the crowd tho and always get there before the food sits too long under the heat lamps. Love their muffins and the perfect desert is the chocolate muffin covered with ice cream and topped with oreos and peanuts. Love this place. Always bring a sweater.

  • James F.

The price is reasonable for the amount of soup, chili, bread, and salad that you can get, but everything else is inconsistent. Our table was never cleared as we went back for soup or pasta, so the plates just kept piling up at our table. Other customers looked like they were having the same issue. I had to look at several stations for any available soup spoons. The pastas were not hot, and the fruit area had just a few apples and oranges. I expected more.

  • Michael B.

Big salad, soup, pasta, and bread bar. Perfect for lunch. Look for coupons in the paper for a free soft drink with salad bar purchase. 8 different soups. Make your own stuffed potato. Don't forget the ice cream for desert which is included. Have been going there for years. Solid lunch choice.

  • Emily J.

Food was just Okay! I feel like the price for the Buffett style atmosphere was way off the mark...I could have eaten at another restaurant had my food served to me, had a premium meal with drinks from the bar for what I paid to eat here...don't understand the pricing for what you get...

  • Anyelina L.

I was a little disappointed. It was the first time I came to this place. My boyfriend used to come here and told me that they grilled chicken. Well, it seems is completely vegetarian now. I only found a baked potato soup with bacon and that's it. I really thought they had something for the non-vegetarian since it was supposed to be a large buffet. I didn't find it big at all. Not even the salad bar found it big enough with good variety. Their salad bar is big but in both sides they have the same options so not really worth it for me to come back.

What is there not to love...... Fresh fresh did a say fresh salad bar all the time. Variety of hot delicious soups. I come here for lunch and I feel really full and not fat who thought that could happen. Lol

  • Natalie S.

Was craving salad...and if anyone has ever been able to walk out of a Sweet Tomato with only salad in their belly then they are a better person that I am. Anyways....it was as good as a salad buffet can be. Salad was fresh, but nothing was spectacular. Our 8 month old definitely enjoyed himself. He had never tried so many different things before. We will be back, the next time I crave salad but secretly want pasta, breadsticks, pizza, brownies, muffins and ice cream.

  • Lorraine N.

I would rather go to a sit down place and order up one salad and one soup vs. this whole buffet idea...but I didn't know what this was like and have never been and my daughter and I needed something light to eat. I thought the pricing was wonderful. WE both had full meals for 20.00....and you can get as much as you want and a variety of options. I do like making my own salad fine and they had some hot pasta offerings. A couple of breads and several soups. Baked potatoes and sweet taters....Glad I went but probably won't find a reason to eat at one again as it just isn't my thing...

This has always been one of my husbands favorite places to eat(He absolutely loves a salad bar), and has become one of mine. Great selection of salad, and toppings as well as soups and delicious bread. The place is pretty clean and staff is friendly and helpful. Last time we went there was a clown painting kids faces(It may have been kids night). The price is reasonable, and we almost always have a coupon as they are constantly in the mail.

Oh yeah, I'm a fan. I love buffets, because you get to have a little bit of everything. Sweet Tomatoes allows me to trick myself into thinking I'm eating healthy, since you walk in and make your own salad first, even before you pay. I usually sit down, polish off my salad, then hit up the not so healthy options they have. My must haves - a baked potato, some sort of soup (they usually have about six to choose from), and pizza bread (om nom nom). Last time I went, they had grilled cheese bread, and that's pretty much the most sinful thing I've encountered on their buffet. I always pass on the pasta - it always looks like it's been sitting there, and usually it's under seasoned. Finish off with a brownie or blueberry muffin with froyo. If you pay full price it's about $14 pp for dinner, but without a drink and with a coupon you can eat for under $9. If you are with a bunch of meat lovers, you might want to skip this place... while there may be some chicken noodle soup, there isn't really any meat you can order here.

This is one of the places I always leave satisfied. The price is reasonable and the salad bar is always fresh. They also have a great variety of soups and they constantly change it up. I remember for the month of April they made almost everything with lemon and all I can say was April was a great month to go there. They have a chocolate lava cake (to die for) that they replaced with a lemony lava cake and it was delicious especially with vanilla ice cream. This is also a great place for kids if you can't get them to eat their greens. They have pastas and little pizza breads and muffins. Dessert always ends up being my favorite part. Can't remember if its ice cream or frozen yogurt but I always get a brownie or lava cake to go with it. The wait staff is always friendly and smiling which is good because nobody likes downers. Great food, great price, great atmosphere. I have nothing negative to say about it so they gladly get 5 stars from me.
