Love this Quick Service Restaurant! I've been to many of these places but this particular one is my favorite out of them all. The portion is enough to fill me up at low cost being a college student with a tight budget.

I've had their $4,99 Teriyaki Chicken special yelp.com/biz_photos/iDDs… for at least 100 times. I know it's Americanized Japanese, but man, it's sooooooo addictive! They added flour to their marinate in the teriyaki chicken and it added a slight and subtle crisp to the texture. Plus the flour soaked up all the delicious meat juices and teriyaki sauce, mixed with stir fried veggies and white rice and a tad of Sriracha sauce... nom nom! Double meat was $1.00, but now it's $1.29 (Inflation is a bitch) yelp.com/biz_photos/iDDs… You can substitute the white rice for fried rice, or no rice and just double portion of stir fried veggie, or no veggie and all rice. Oh and ask for a to go box, they give you a bit more than the dine in plate for some reason. I've tried other dishes yelp.com/biz_photos/iDDs… , and pretty much all "meh". They also have locations in Pembroke Mall and Aventura Mall.

Yesterday we had to stop by Sears (really, 'had' to because it's not my fav store, except for the optical area) and we were hungry. I would rather leave the mall and go to a local restaurant but for convenience sake we got lunch at the food court. Ambiance: We've not been to the mall in a very long time and were surprised at how nice the food court area looked - the furniture was white - regular and bistro level tables, comfy regular and bistro height chairs, nice area rugs, etc. Options: After strolling past the usual suspects (pizza, burgers, subs, etc.) I chose Sarku Japan and ordered chicken teriyaki with white rice and a diet tea. There was a line and there were 2 cooks making tons of grilled food - most of which was chicken. The dish and the tea were $8.88 but I got 2 lunches from the container of food so I have no complaints. To Go Process: The cooks lined up to-go boxes with white and fried rice and then added the veggies and protein to each box. People on line grabbed their boxes and went on their way - it was a pretty quick process. Food: Besides being very generous with the portion, the flavor was just great! The finely sliced cabbage and thin carrot slices were piled on top of the flat top grill and a metal bowl was placed over the pile. The cook removed the bowl, moved the veggies around a bit and then covered the veggies with the bowl, doing this a few times before doling the veggies into the to-go boxes. That's all it took to make delicious veggies (next time I'm ordering a double portion of them!) The pink chicken pieces were poured onto the flat top grill and the cook rotated the pieces on the flat top until the chicken was firm and browned. He put generous portions into most of the boxes (one box got shrimp that he had cooked on the grill separately). The chicken is not in a sauce but the teriyaki flavor is in each piece. The line kept on growing and most people ordered chicken so the cooks kept on putting more chicken on the grill. A man in the back of the restaurant came to the front with a huge bowl of rice to keep the front of the house in supply. The rice was very sticky (I prefer sticky rice) so if you like each grain separated from one another you may want to order noodles instead. Sarku is a destination! After I had my fill (with more than half left over) I returned to the counter to thank the manager and tell her how delicious everything was. She was hustling and my guess is she is the owner. I suspect she and her family members (with whom she was speaking another language) are Chinese and not Japanese. The cooks looked like 2 Caucasian kids. Even if there isnt' a Japanese person in the place this food is very tasty and I'd go back there to have lunch any day - whether I was shopping at the mall or not!

My favorite "mall food" at the Broward Mall (now known as Westfield). The food tastes fresh, as it should, since everything is made to order on the hibachi grill in front of you. Despite that, the wait is fairly quick. Prices are reasonable but have gone up recently. The chicken terriyaki is now $5.99, a dollar jump, and double meat is $1.49 ( but well worth the extra charge). I always get two meals out of one order because portions are generous. The food is not as greasy as other places, which I like.

I had the chicken teriyaki and it was the worst meal I've had in a long time. The chicken was like rubber, the rice lumpy and the vegetables undercooked and cold.
