One of good Japanese restaurant own by Japanese. also one of the best chef ( Japanese ) working there...!

Just went there tonight. It was packed BUT there were enough people working there for the place to still run efficiently. It did NOT. The service was TERRIBLE. I had to ask 3 times, THREE TIMES, for one sake. Our order which was small and all cold stuff took FOREVER! People sitting behind us were seated & ordered after us. Almost their whole order was hot food requiring cooking. They got EVERYTHING before we did. Apart from the service, the sushi is also not that good. It didn't seem that fresh and pieces were definitely cut too thick. Sushi should melt in your mouth & not be chewy. Sadly, not the case here. Can't comment about any of the cooked dishes as we didn't have any and I won't be going back to try. :-(

Too bad! Koume has really gone downhill since it was our favorite sushi restaurant several years ago. Our recent dining experience was a huge disappointment. Service was slow, a/c was set too warm, the rolls are more rice than fish, and the bathroom was disgusting and gross. Won't be back, as this has been a trend our last couple of visits.

Best sushi I've in South Florid so far! Spicy Tuna Roll was GREAT.

Definitely quality food...I get take out all the time, eat there lunch a couple times a month. Everything is really good there and definitely one of the better restaurants in Plantation/Sunrise area.

Great food! We try to visit at least once a week. The food is very fresh and they always remember us there. I highly recommend stopping buy if you are in the area.

Well this is another Japanese restaurant that isn't very good. We stopped in for lunch and got the bento boxes. The miso soup was good but the Ginger dressing for the salad was too heavy. The bento box consisted of six pieces of sashimi two pieces of shrimp tempura one sweet potato and one zucchini tempura. The beef teriyaki was a few small pieces of beef and lots of onions and by lots I mean the majority was onions. The sushi had wasabi under the fish which I wish they told us before we ordered. The worst part was the tamago (egg) sushi which had too much dashi in it. Service was good albeit the food was subpar.

What Koume doesn't have in atmosphere (it's VERY casual), it more than makes up for in the quality of the fish and the service. If you live in West Broward, this place should be your standard sushi destination.

AWESOME Japanese Food!!! If you like a little hot, ask for the Spicy Sean Roll, its not on the menu but it's excellent!

I want to like this place; really, I do. I guess that's why I've been here twice after a lackluster first visit. But after a few visits, I have to say that I'm sorry fellow Yelpers - this place is mediocre and I don't get the hype. Maybe my problem is I've ordered takeout each time and haven't dined in. Everyone seems to rave about the service here, but I just don't see it. The staff was efficient, if a little pushy in trying to get me to place my order (hey, a little time to decide would be nice. If I'm not in a rush, you shouldn't be either). When I received my order, I was, as they say, not impressed. At first glance, my takeout container was sadly empty, despite the fact it was ostensibly filled with two rolls (see photo). The rolls were tiny, and the portion was incredibly small. My tuna roll was far more rice than tuna (just a sad little sliver of delicious fish), and they even skimped on the krab and avocado in the California roll. My dynamite roll had good flavor to it, but I sure wish the rice didn't overwhelm the dynamite as much as it did. Um, I got the rice - where's the sushi? At upwards of $7-8 per roll, the portions here are really pathetic for what you pay. I'm not a big eater, either. At most other sushi restaurants, I can order one roll and be perfectly full and content. Here, two rolls is barely enough. To add insult to injury, they charged an extra dollar because I asked for eel sauce with my order. My dollar got me a teeny container and they shorted me on the soy sauce too! WTF. Really now? Way to nickel and dime, Koume. Considering what you pay, the rolls and blatant cheapness of this place is pretty sad. I'd rather go just about anywhere else for sushi, or really go sushi crazy at Shinju and their buffet. Sorry Yelp, you over-hyped this one.

Cozy atmosphere because it is a small restaurant. It can get packed with people and have people waiting for a seat but that is understandable because it is delicious sushi! Everything tastes fresh. And there are some really cool rolls you don't see everywhere. And the rolls are large. It's not super cheap or super expensive. But I am willing to pay a bit for the taste, size, and uniqueness. I am always greeted with a loud 'Hello' and leave with a loud 'Thank You' and I find it funny but it's nice.

High quality sushi with low price. The decor is basic but the atmosphere is great. I really liked the way the Chef welcomes you. Good spot, full of locals.

Forget about ambiance, remember, its about the food and Koume serves up very good food at reasonable prices. The Sushi is fresh and plentiful. The Ramen was also very good. The noodles were firm, not mushy, fresh. The service was welcoming. Considering all the above, the multiple times we have visited, yep I would have to agree with many, Koume does it well, consistently well. Fatty says....thumbs up.

I was very impressed by Koume. I travel extensively and I love Sushi. And Sushi on an expense account is all the better. I got to the restaurant around 7 during a weeknight. The restaurant was pretty busy (you want to see that in a Sushi place) so I figured I had a long wait to grab a "To Go" order. Surprisingly I was in and out in about 10 minutes. The service was great even for a take out order. The waitress came and told me about the different rolls. I was having a little trouble finding what I was looking for and she asked me to describe it. I did and she said, don't worry, I'll have the chef make it for you just the way you want it. So 3 custom Sushi rolls made EXACTLY to my specifications! No extra charge. Got out of there for ~$30. The Sushi itself was very good quality. Fresh. Well made. Even though they were busy and my order came out very quickly, it was made well. No sloppy rolls or mashed up rice. All in all, probably one of the best Sushi restaurants I've been to. The only one I could say that surpasses it was basically the same price, but it was take out only and about 2/3's the price. Also, I had read the other Yelp reviews and was on the look out for a "funky" smell or marginal freshness. I have an annoyingly high sensitivity to smells and this place smelled fine. Sushi was tasty. Maybe the other reviewer had arrived after the place had done some deep cleaning or something. Was great when I was there.

Got food poisoning here! Called to let them know and they were so rude. Will NEVER EAT HERE again!
Love this place! The only downfall is they close between 2:00 and 5:30! I would recommend this place 100%

I didn't have sushi here. But the food is very authentic and nice here. I had some noodles. They were serving late on Labor Day weekend.

Oh Koume, you are always a stable. Koume is a great hole in the wall sushi place that will never disappoint. Toshi (the owner/main chef) always has great cuts of fish and the signature items are superb. The staff is always super friendly; even always greeting guests that are coming and going. The lunch at Koume is great. Always enjoyable and they have so many usual customers that it is like extended family. Lunch has amazing specials and worth more than one will spend. The only cons to Koume is that it only holds 20, maybe 30 people and that they do not always have rare cuts of fish (like toro or blue fin tuna) that many other bigger places have constantly.

After more than a year of coming to this place often, I felt that my review needed a refresh. This place has become very near and dear to my heart. The staff knows us, and every time we walk in we get instantly greeted by Toshi and the gang. We usually sit at the bar and ask for their awesome Genmaicha, which is green tea and toasted brown rice and sit back and be amazed at Koume's almost impeccable quality and consistency. It serves this review right to mention that this spot is becoming a little foodie paradise this side of Sunrise. Their specials have become first class, like the oyster shots, the Bonito Tataki, and oh man...the slow roasted, so tasty pork belly. "Whaaaaa!" you say? That's right. It just keeps getting better and better. Koume, I say to you: Gochisousamadeshita! (Thank you for the great meals)

Koume always leaves me with a smile. From the moment you walk in, it is warm greetings from the staff. The owner shouts 'heeellllooo". In this small, quaint restaurant the service and food star equally. Patrons are enver left with a glass unfilled or question unanswered for long. On this night, the service was impeccable once again and oh the food....oh the food. Salmon Tataki was spot on and gobbled up by my girlfriend and I in a blink of an eye. Sushi was fresh and the noodles were really tasty, but the real star was the dessert. The Mochi Ice Cream and Lychee Ice Cream was spectacular. The Mochi had the perfect softness and chew. The green tea, mango, and vanilla left me wanting more. Now, the lychee ice cream, where to start. Simply, it was perfection. The flavor was spot on with a pleasant little surprise. The little surprise was frozen lychess flavored coconut jelly. It added that extra special something. I need to go back.... soon for that lychee ice cream.

Hands down, the best Japanese restaurant in South Florida. Having lived in Japan for a couple of years, I am very picky when it comes to Japanese food! I drive from Miami to Sunrise just to eat here. The food is always so fresh, and the overall ambiance is very Japanese. You are always greeted when you walk in, and service is prompt. I have never had to wait long for my food even though the restaurant has been packed. Whenever anyone asks me where to find good Japanese food, I always point them here. If something is not on the menu, just ask the owner, and if he has the ingredients, he will whip it up for you!

I was one of the original owners of this restaurant. We opened this restaurant in 1999 and sold it to Toshi in 2006. Toshi was my caterer. He is a great chef and very energetic. Every customer is greeted with a big hello. This is truly a Japanese owned restaurant.

I would come back for dessert but nothing else. The sukimono conch and cucumber was alright. The ramen was bland. I tried sushi and sashimi for one. The pieces was cut so big that after the first bite, it felt a bit slimy to eat the fish. The restaurant is decorated okay, but their strength is presentation. The sushi platter was well garnished and the fried ice cream had a large handful of vermicelli fried and twisted into a spiral. Props to that.

I love this place! What a local hidden gem, every time I walk in (Almost every Friday for lunch) I'm instantly greeted (By name of course) by Toshi and the rest of the staff. I usually eat at the bar and start off my lunch with the chickwa app (Fried Fish Cakes). There are so many things to discover on their menu. I definitely recommend the Bill Roll, Toshi Roll, Julia Roll...aww heck everything is good. A great casual dining spot with awesome sushi and friendly staff!

My husband and I are so happy that Yelp helped us discover this place! We went for the first time last night, and now we know - Koume is going to become our go-to local sushi joint. We could tell it was going to be authentic when the Japanese owner greeted us. We knew the food was going to be extraordinary as soon as we tasted Koume's special oyster shot starter, the "Bomb" (fresh oyster and raw quail egg served in a shot glass with a spicy miso and Tabasco sauce, beautifully garnished with what I think was crispy minced green scallion). WOW! We ordered very basic stuff, California rolls and some basic pieces of nigiri sushi, but there were a lot of sushi and non-sushi items on the menu I'd never seen and would like to try. The place was busy with a casual crowd on a Thursday night, evidence that it's also become the local sushi joint for a lot of people in our nearby Plantation/Sunrise neighborhoods. The place is small and could use a little freshening up in the decor, and the big-screen TV in the dining room was somewhat distracting, but that's par for the course for the type of place this is - the kind of hole-in-the-wall place you might never guess has great food , but which you return to again and again once you discover it.

Eh. Not too sure about these good reviews. The cooked rolls were alright...the raw items...hmmm...pretty questionable - and that's not something you want when consuming raw anything. Our server was nice, but overall, it was pretty disappointing, especially after reading all the good reviews. I think I'll stick with Japan Inn and Marumi in this area.

WOW!! THE BEST SUSHI IVE HAD IN SOUTH FLORIDA!! The owner, Toshi was very welcoming and opened his restaurant for my friend and i on Thanksgiving night, although it was strictly "take out only". As we took a few minutes to review the menu, he brought us some yummy lotus flower chips he had prepared for us, which were crisp, and unique. He followed the chips with some sort of tuna nacho which was very fresh and flavorful.. then the mamacita de Japon which was out of this world!! He treated us like family, which we much appreciated before heading out to our Black Friday shopping. We ordered the Mexican roll, and added tuna and cream cheese. He brought out our rolls, and they were works of art!! I then had a few peices of salmon sashimi, which was the freshest ive ever had... and ive been eating sushi since i was a little girl, so that says a lot! The tuna tataki was also so fresh, thick cut peices, in a very tasty ponzu sauce.. Before we left, he asked us to have some lychee flavored ice cream with him.... it was amazinggg... creamy and delicious with little peices of coconut in it. My tummy has never been happier. I recommend this sushi place over any other ive ever been to. Toshi is a sweet, fun person.. and a glorious sushi master!!! He really enjoys his customers, and really knows how to make you feel welcome! :))

We've been regulars since the previous owners. The absolute freshest fish and ingredients coupled with Toshi's ingenuity and artisanship elevate Koume above the crowd. Tuna wonton app is a must and regardless what you choose for dinner, finish your meal with the Bananas Tempura! My wife has been known to start her meal with this sinful desert!

I just have three words....OMG!!! Super fresh, superb attention, matcha green tea, hot and delicious, Koume is a blen of the most delicious flavours, the attention is FANTASTIC...the spectacular Japanese Chefs scream HELLO!! every time a customer comes in, the food is SUPERB. Give it a try...THE BEST!

Simply the BEST! The freshest fish I have ever had and I have been eating sushi/sashimi for almost 40 years. Toshi the owner makes it a point to great you by name and the staff does the same. They have a very good menu and will make anything you want if don't see what you want. Ask Toshi to do sake bombs, it is a full restaurant participation event! All I can say is try it you'll like it!!

My wife & I visited Koume based on the reviews we've read in Yelp. Sadly we didn't stay to try what is almost certainly great food and service, but the atmosphere was, for us, a zero. If you're looking for an even remotely romantic dinner, I'm afraid Koume is not for you. They have tables squeezed in to every available spot and they very close together. It looks and feels like a cafeteria. We were greeted warmly, but my wife baulked about sitting down at the last available table amongst the packed restaurant. There's nothing wrong with a cafeteria, if that's what you are expecting. Judging by the number of people dining there, the Yelp reviews for the food and service must be spot on. But romantic is isn't, not even slightly.. We ended up in a private booth at the Sushi Inn down the road.

Would give a 4.5 stars if I could so I gave it a five because the sushi was very good; friendly helpful staff; enjoyed my time there with my son; only drawback is restaurant which is in a strip mall with limited seating

This restaurant is one of the best sushi places I've gone to in South Florida, and I've been to quite a few... the staff is extremely friendly and the place is clean, and hospitable... the whole menu is delicious, for those sushi lovers I recommend the dragon roll as it is AMAZING!!.. the price is just right... I go there about evey week..

This is a non-sushi review. I had fried rice and shrimp & veggie tempura. It was OK. After living in Southern CA for 5 years, one gets spoiled with great Japanese food. It's hard to find Japanese food anywhere else that's as good. Recommend visiting Koume but don't have too high expectations.

We came to this place after seeing the yelp reviews, we needed something quick and good after shopping and this was absolutely perfect! The service was great, very sweet people. The rolls were really fresh and yummy, we had the nagitoro roll which was great! & then the flamingo and koume rolls, definitely recommend!! I would plan another day of shopping just to come again.

Although the simple exterior may not tell you anything about it, this place is great! I went there with my girlfriend and we were treated extremely well, the staff is very friendly and genuinely helpful. We tried a few rolls and everything was great, the waitress helped us choose the rolls and it was very pleasant and memorable experience. Next time we are up in sunrise this is definitely the number 1 choice for food, it was great quality and you can tell the fish was very fresh. GREAT GREAT GREAT place, check out it. more humbled and less hyped then most miami places.

Ate here for the first time and was really impressed. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the front but it's clean inside, the staff is exceptionally friendly, and out food was fresh tasty. There was a lot to choose from and there was a large selection of unique house rolls. My dinner companion and I shared the panther roll, flamingo roll, and some friend vegetables (plus two drinks for a total of $30, not bad). I will definitely be coming back frequently.

Very good Sushi/Sashimi. If you are a regular Sushi person, you will definitely know the difference in freshness and taste. The place can get a bit crowded but with this good sushi, it's understandable.

We actually stumbled upon this place after an afternoon of shopping at the nearby Sawgrass Mills mall. We had enough walking for one day and wanted a light dinner. I felt like having sushi and found the most authentic sounding restaurant name on my GPS. Luckily I picked a good restaurant and was not disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised at the freshness of all the different fishes and thoroughly enjoyed my dinner.

This place has the freshest fish I've had since leaving Japan. If you want great sushi, like they make it in Japan, this is the place to go! Pros: - They make the sushi exactly the way they make it in Japan, which means a fair amount of sushi seasoning on the rice (which many American sushi places omit or don't put enough of) and wasabi as part of the roll (if you're allergic or just don't like wasabi all you need to do is ask in advance to have it made without). - They buy the highest grade fish out there. The sashimi literally melts in your mouth! I haven't had fish this good since I lived in Japan and I eat at a LOT of Japanese places. - They also have a variety of traditional Japanese dishes and usually a few specials. Almost all of them are very authentic, something that is always refreshing. - Service is good and the owner is very friendly. He often comes around and greets people at the tables. He knows all the regulars and there always seem to be a lot every time I'm there. - The prices is decent. For the quality of fish you are getting it feels like a steal. Cons: - Located in a run of the mill shopping center. - Decor is nothing special (but once you start eating you don't care!) I live all the way down in Coral Gables, but I make the drive up here from time to time to get my fix. I must say, it's been worth the drive every time. Try this place now!

Great quality for a superb value. Friendly atmosphere and definitely the top sushi restaurant in the neighborhood. It's rare to find a place that does an ikura handroll, try it, it's fantastic.

Awesome Sushi! The taste was extremely fresh. I highly recommend their Mexican Roll. It was a tempura shrimp roll with Avocado, lettuce, and spicy mayo. It was huge too! The service was fast and the waitress was extremely nice. I had been looking for a good sushi place and I think I found it!

What a difference two decades make! Back then, sushi restaurants were a rarity at this end of Florida -- now they're everywhere. What makes the Koume special is the excellent quality of the fish. I'm told that the owner supplies other restaurants, and he certainly seems to have an excellent selection. This is a reasonably priced and rather modest place ( to be fair, dull decor being the sad norm for US sushi places) but the service is excellent and the sushi choices are reliably good. Definitely top-tier for this group.

Not a whole lot of good sushi restaurants in the plantation area. Out of all of them, this would be my recommendation. My husband and I have never had anything bad here. Also, the staff is super friendly and greets everyone AS they walk in the door. They also have several good rice-less sushi roll options.

Recently went again with my wife and daughter. Garlic Broccoli excellent, Salmon sushi, Salmon handrolls delicious. Additional rolls also, great. Service is alway good and friendly. What I notice the last few times is that the restaurant gets warm in the summer with the Sun coming in from the West. Maybe heavier blinds or window tinting will help. I laugh at some of the reviews from other folks. The decor is nothing but a hodge podge of different things. I find it lends to the character of the place. Many others also say the decor is minimal. So when people go to a dive, do they complain about the decor, no. So if you have decor expectations, maybe its not the place for you. Looking forward to my next Koume visit.

Best sushi and Japanese in town. Owner is awesome...supplies a great experience. Sushi is warm and done with care. You can taste the love. 2 favorites are the Hawaiian Poke and the yellow tail kama!! Awesome cold sake!..You can get the $80 bottle and keep it in the restaurant with your name on it for future visits. Excellent soup. Too many things to name. Everything is good!! Even the dessert is money. Do yourself a favor and try it once and you will be hooked. You can thank me later.

I was so excited to come here and experience the great food as all the fellow eliters raved about in their reviews. Although the food wasn't bad it certainly was not the best. First off what is the deal with the dark decor? Is it a rule of thumb that all sushi restaurants in the plantation area have dark shades? Or were the dark blinds necessary to cover the immense amounts of dirt on the carpet? God that was disgusting. Might I add the carpet is black and I could still see the dirt. (Barf) Secondly, just because you see Japanese men in hats behind a counter cutting up fish does not make it authentic by any means. I came here on a Saturday night with Leanna J. and we were immediately off put by the decor. We sat down in a tiny table less than a foot next to another table with patrons. So we order Shrimp Shumai and miso soup. The miso soup was good, nothing to rave about. The shrimp shumai was so bland. It's as if they took it out of the pre packaging, put it in a microwave and served it to us. The dumplings were like embedded within one another and were difficult to separate. To be completely honest I forgot the name of the roll I ordered because that's what it was, unmemorable and unappetizing. The portion itself was small and the fish tasted frozen and the minced crab was just okay. I was unimpressed. Maybe I need to come back and give it another shot but I doubt I'll be back because the dirtiness of the floor was vomit inducing. Me and Leanna J always kick ourselves when we venture out of the Pembroke Pines/Miramar for the sushi and we'll be sure to never make that mistake again.

Blue our wonderful CM told us about this restaurant. I quickly bookmarked it and noticed many of my Yelp buddies all really enjoy this restaurant. My daughter and I went last week. When you walk in it is a little intimidating because the Chef screams across the restaurant, and everyone looks at you. He say's "hello" and not sure what all he was hollering, LOL it is pretty funny as he has an awesome personality. This place is small inside . Nothing much as far as decor goes. Service was average at best. One young girl spoke no English at all then our waitress did disappear often. Why the 4 stars, well simply due to the food. They have a board on the wall with specials for the day. I was thrilled to see they had Grouper and Wahoo. Two of my absolute favorite fish. I ordered several pieces of each (sushi). My daughter had the Salmon platter with rolls and sushi and she also had soup. We shared the shrimp fried rice which was very good. They put large shrimp in the rice, not the small baby shrimp. Also plenty of onions, so if you don't care for onions keep this in mind. My Sushi was excellent. Very fresh and good quality. The prices were reasonable. My daughter really loved her entree. This is a no frills type of place with just very good food. If you are looking for a nice atmosphere, this is not the place. It is super casual, very tiny, and they could use a remodel for sure. As others have mentioned great place to do a pick up of your order. Next time we will probably do this. I did order several Lychee Sakatini's and they were excellent. Oh geez, love when they know how to make them this good. That in itself would make me dine there again. LOL Great food, check them out and thank you for the suggestion Blue!!

Went to dinner at Koume last night - it's a small restaurant on Sunrise Boulevard, a couple of blocks east of the Sawgrass Mall. There were many open tables when we got there and as soon as we walked in the sushi guys yelled a greeting to us. We were seated and a buser took our drink orders. Marker boards with specials were right above our heads - I didn't even notice because I was distracted by hanging knit dolls on a shelf on the wall above our table. Next time I want to sit at a table without hanging dolls... We ordered: Hamachi Kama - roasted fish collar - I almost don't want to tell people about this because it's hard enough to get at many restaurants so the more people that order it, the less for me. But that's not very Yelpie of me, so I'm telling you this is delicious stuff. Although the collar had a lot of fish on it, $12 for one is likely the highest price I've ever paid for an order having one collar. I've never had a fish collar I didn't like (or left on my plate) but this was not the best I've ever had. Plantation Roll - a rice-less roll of tuna and avocado, rolled into a seedless cucumber sheet, sliced and topped with masago (orange flying fish roe). It's served on a plate with a small pool of ponzu (citrus-soy) sauce. The cucumber had a snap to it and the tuna was very fresh and cold! Koume Roll - Salmon, tuna, and hamachi rolled inside out (rice on the outside) with masago. The fish was so creamy I couldn't get over it - the roll was fresh and an aptly named tribute to the restaurant! "Stir Fried" Shrimp and Veggies - As soon as the dish was placed on the table the fragrance of sesame oil filled my nose. It was a pretty plate that smelled great! The veggies (onion, bean sprouts, carrots, broccoli, mushrooms and zucchini) still had snap to them but the shrimp - while very large - were tough and overcooked. Oh so close to perfection; but the dish as a whole was delicious because it wasn't greasy and the veggies had life to them! It was served with brown rice and miso soup. (You can order salad and white rice instead.) We took home half of everything but the kama - that got finished! There were several servers and bussers who catered to us - they were friendly and responsive to our requests (extra ginger, another pair of chopsticks, boxes to go, hold off serving the next course, etc.) The restaurant had filled since we were seated and as we left we vowed to return to try other specials and standard menu items.

As soon as I heard Japanese being spoken in the kitchen I was relived. Food was fresh and good American portion (you know what I mean). Service was quick and no fuss. Decor is minimal but I came here for food not a show, right?

Haven't been here in too long a time. Wow has the menu expanded to include more Japanese hot entrees in addition to their high quality sushi and sashimi. Highly recommend the Tofu terriyaki and sashimi deluxe. Service is excellent and very pleasant . Will definitely return soon.

Got the sushi lunch special. The tuna and salmon roll were very fishy. They also penny pinch. 25 cents for eel sauce. Ridiculous! Ginger dressing like water.

I went to Koume, or better yet I went back to Koume, years after my first experience. Some 4 years ago, I had a wild experience at this place with my parents, brothers, and associated girlfriends (now fiance and wife). That night we went hog wild and tried the gamut of sushi, sashimi, and the like. Great Stuff! Since then, I've been exploring the community for other places. but after my experience the other night, I can only hail praises and respect for Koume. While the ambiance on Monday night, early if I might add, wasn't the vibrant and exuberant crowd I remember, the food and service was great. Quiet, quality, and more traditional than the greater majority of similar restaurants in the area. The decor is simple with tables and a sushi bar area. A single 30" television sits in the corner, and the scene is pretty relaxing. Our Koume trip this evening followed a Sake Expo which had 3 out of 4 of us pining for more Japanese flavors....and more sake of course. Koume gets my seal of approval. The prices are affordable, the food is good, the ambiance can be bustling or relaxing, and the service is good.

AMAZING sushi. And side tip: get the toshi tacos. They're not on the menu. But so much deliciousness! The wait can be kind of bother some when they are busy because it's such a small location. But once you get ahold of their hot food or sushi. You'll know it was worth the wait
One of my favorite sushi restaurants. I come here for lunch, either by myself or with friends, because its that good. The service and food has been great every time I've been here. It can get really busy here during lunch hours. I love the Salmon Lover, which comes with a JB roll and 4 piece of salmon nigiri. The sashimi here is always fresh, i have never been disappointed. I always get the Tuna and Salmon sashimi combo if I'm there for lunch. The prices here at Koume is a bang for its buck. I will keep coming back again and again!

We LOVE Koume!!! We have been going for years and they treat us like family. We highly recommend going. Thank you Toshi and your waiters and waitresses for always going out of your way to make sure our dinner is superb!

Sushi is like from publix boxes with no taste.Fish is like being frozen. Service is slow and bad. Sorry I went there.

Now that I've earned my Sushi Sensai badge, maybe I've become a bit of a sushi snob. I had really high expectations based on the reviews, but I definitely felt underwhelmed after eating here. First off, I have to comment about the carpeting which could have used a good vacuuming. I'm a firm believer in the idea "how you keep your dining room is a sign of how you keep your kitchen." If the food remnants and paper on the floor are an indicator of how they keep the kitchen, I'm a little afraid to see what goes on behind closed doors. Anyways, we had the shrimp shumai as an appetizer. Unfortunately, it was flavorless. It was one of those dishes that make you thank heavens for soy sauce. As my main course I had the sashimi combo. The tuna didn't taste as fresh as the white fish or salmon but overall the dish was OK. The pieces could've been cut a little smaller to make it easier to eat with chopsticks. I found this place to be nothing special. Just another average sushi spot. I wouldn't recommend going out of the way to eat here but if you're in the area and craving sushi you can check it out. Miramar sushi restaurants are a lot better though.

I'm on a search to find a good sushi place in South Florida that's not in Miami that exceeds my expectations. Unfortunately to say, this was not up to par. I don't recommend coming here for just plain sashimi, it just wasn't fresh enough. I like to be able to eat a piece of sashimi without having to use any sauce and I was unable to do that here because it just didn't taste great. Maybe it was just a bad night or I got the last batch. I was able to eat the hamachi Italian, but that's because there was sauce all over it. This dish was pretty decent, but it doesn't blow my mind. I definitely recommend the cooked items here though. I got the hamachi kama and that was really good. I also tried the fried ama ebi head which was really good. The ama ebi sushi though was not good for me. But unfortunately you can't get one without the other. I'm not sure if I'll give this place another try. But I heard the tuna belly teriyaki was good, another cooked item. I wanted to try that when I was there, but it is their special and best seller, so it was sold out when I was their. Maybe I'll come back for that and give it another shot.

Sushi is legit! Teriyaki frok the kitchen is tasty too. Awesome lunch specials. I frequent this place. I love their greeting as you go in and out as well.

Everyone greets you like family when you enter and exit this restaurant. The place is fairly small but had an intimate setting and worth a visit. I ordered the shrimp dumplings & a dragon roll for take-out. The restaurant was full but the wait was less than ten minutes for the food. I enjoyed every minute of this experience. When I got home, I tried the Dragon Roll and it was amazing. Next time I'll dine in.

I love this place, been coming here for years and I've never been disappointed, sashimi is always fresh and portions are huge and affordable, the location is small but it makes it cozy, no complaints I'm a loyal and happy customer

Needing a quick place to eat before a concert at BB&T we decided to stop into Koume. We were surprised to see how packed this little place was on a Thursday night!! After sitting (the waitress seemed a little annoyed that there were 2 of us and only a 4 person table available) we sat down to study the menu. I did appreciate the board of daily specials that was easy to read and we went ahead and put in an order of teriyaki tuna belly - 3 pieces for $5 - it was a special, so I can't guarantee how often they have it. We also ordered a house salad, miso soup, tuna tartare, bill roll and a half futo maki roll (hey it's January and I'm watching my carb intake lol). First out was the salad and the soup. I thought the ginger dressing was a bit off, but hey it was cheaper than my usual spot and I was still happy. Next up was the teriyaki tuna - absolutely delicious and also a great price!! I wanted to do a sashimi plate, but honestly the prices were a bit higher than I'm used to - thus me picking the tuna tartare and the half sized roll. The tuna tartare had chunks of onion and was flavored with garlic, I was a little apprehensive to order it because of the onion, but wow it was pretty good. Perhaps a little more than I wanted to pay at $10 considering, but overall I was happy. My roll came out next, 4 giant pieces that I had to eat in two bites. This was ok, nothing to go back for. The bf ordered the bill roll... he also thought it was ok, and slightly smaller than our usual spot. Overall the food was 3 or 4 stars, I appreciate how cheap some of the things were and things seemed really fresh. What's dropping me to 3 stars is the service. I had to ask more than once to get a side of spicy mayo, our waters went empty and getting the check was a nightmare - especially since we were rushing to a concert. Yes the place was packed, perhaps more so than a regular night since there were 2 large groups, but seeing that it was my first time I'm not sure. I'd definitely go back if I was in the area and looking for a cheap sushi spot, especially since the other places in the area aren't rated too highly, but I won't be going out of my way to come here since I think my local spot is a lot better :)

My boyfriend and I come here on occasion. The food is absolutely excellent and the quality of their fish is superb. Last night I ordered Michelle's Salad, which I usually order. The tuna on it is absolutely fresh and delicious. And the salad dressing on it is fantastic! I really could eat this salad everyday! Service is great and the sushi chef is always so happy and greets every customer. My only issue is that it gets really busy at times. I've come a few times and every table has been full. However, it is worth the wait!

My neighborhood sushi place. Everything on their sushi menu is good and always fresh! Sometimes they get extremely busy and the wait for dine-in and take out is very long. Toshi tacos are a must and if you don't care for sushi they have an awesome "cooked food" menu (try the beef teriyaki). Make sure to say "see you tomorrow" to Toshi when you leave!

Found this place through Yelp...and I'm so happy that I did. I was hungering for Sushi after closing down Sawgrass Mills Mall. There doesn't appear to be any other late night sushi options in the area. There is nothing fancy here. It's in a strip mall and the restaurant interior is plain but comfortable. You feel welcome as you walk through the door as you are over-enthusiastically welcomed by the chef/owner in a way reminiscent of chairman Kaga introducing the special ingredient in Kitchen Stadium. The place was crowded but there was no wait for a table on Saturday night. I did not try anything too adventurous-- just had a couple of rolls, tempura app and a lot of saki bombs. The sushi was fresh and delicious and the prices were reasonable. The waitress only spoke Japanese but we were able to communicate our order somehow. Forget the chain restaurants at the Sawgrass mall and head to Koume!

I love Koume. It is always good food. The Service is really good. They really are Attentive and even apologize when it is taking to long to get your food out. We go regularly.. and do the whole take out thing more often than we eat there and we eat there a lot. Their lunch is hard to beat for the price and quality of food. Enjoy!!!

Absolutely love this sushi restaurant!! I have lived in many places from NY to Seattle, Vancouver and now Florida. This was a shocking surprise, (in a good way) as I highly doubted you could find any sushi of this quality outside of Fort Lauderdale or Miami. Both times, I have gone for the salmon&tuna sashimi which comes with a cup of miso soup and brown rice. All of this for just $11! Furthermore, the quality of the fish is incredibly fresh. One of these days, I will have to ask the friendly chef, Toshi what his secret is. While I could be greedy and make the point that you will get a little bit more bang for your buck in a major hub like Seattle or Vancouver, this is more than acceptable for the area! Absolutely fantastic on all levels. Since I am half Japanese, I truly admire that this place is run by Japanese people unlike so many other sushi restaurants.

This place has the best sushi of any place I've been to so far in Broward County. My son and I eat a lot of sushi and I have been eating it since 1979. Toshi and Satoshi are masters at preparing delicious sushi. Friendly comfortable atmosphere always greeted with a warm welcome. Tell them Evan sent you.

This place is authentic!!! The Yu-kke is amazing (beef of course) and their sushi rolls are fresh, tasty, and creative when you venture outside of the traditional Japanese rolls. I love the food and the friendly service. I find it hilarious when others on yelp question authenticity and state that Pembroke Pines is their go-to city for sushi. Outside of Mikan, that is an affirmative NO. I've lived in Japan and Koume is by all means authentic. If you like places like Shinju, authentic Japanese might not be your thing. Although it's a hole-in-the-wall you should definitely try this local gem.

I don't eat fish, so when my friends kept on suggesting Koume for Sushi I skipped out, but I finally went last Friday and to my surprise they have a large menu with many different options. I opted for the Steak Teriyaki and was pleasantly surprised, the steak was served on a sizzling skillet, on a bed of bean sprouts, accompanied with a few fresh veggies and my side of brown rice, and the Teriyake sauce also on the side as requested, this lunch special was served with a small salad with Ginger dressing, the steak was cooked Medium Rare as I specified, the food tasted very fresh, everyone else at my table ordered Sushi and they were all surprised by how good my dish looked, I found it to be an excellent value for the quality. Also, it's very amusing that the sushi chefs shout out and greet and say goodbye to everyone. This is a small no-frills restaurant with excellent food and friendly service.

Their food is very good! Absolutely love their tuna wonton. The most amazing dish is their chirashi, There are so many different kinds of sashimi in a bowl and they are all fresh!! Definitely will visit once in a while

Brought here by a coworker for great sushi specials and fast service. I am now a frequent flyer of the Koume. Be advised it's a small restaurant in a strip mall so for lunch time it tends to get very busy and you have to wait for sitting if you arrive at 12:30. Fast service and affordable lunch menu. Service is excellent and very pleasant.

Yelp, you never let me down. In need of sushi and not sure where to grab some, I checked my trusty Yelp App. Koume comes up on the search with a great star rating, stellar reviews and from what I gather: Great sushi, affordable prices and no pretentious setting. I think I will check it out! We came in and the place was packed but they quickly cleaned up a 2 person table that had JUST left. Talk about perfect timing. We sat down and ordered our drinks. We ended up ordering a couple of rolls because I was starving. 1) California Roll - I ALWAYS try to get a California Roll because it is usually super cheap and if you can make a great California, everything else is probably amazing. 2) Sunrise - A cucumber roll with salmon, cream cheese and crab. They float in a plate of soy sauce. Amazing presentation and great taste. 3) Judy - Comes with salmon, cream cheese and salmon and avocado on top. Delicious 4) Holly - It comes with fried shrimp, asparagus and something else inside with dynamite on top. WOW! Favorite roll of the night. 5) Dragon - The traditional dragon roll. Delicious. Now, my only complaint is that it was a little hot inside. It was packed, and it's summer, but that place should still be an ice box. I don't know if they just had the AC off (high) but it was a little uncomfortable, especially when I started digesting. Didn't stop me from devouring those rolls though!

This place is the bomb.com , amazingly fresh sushi, decent sized menu so there is something for everyone, even non-sushi lovers. sushi is a bit on the higher end of pricing, but the quality makes up for that, other entrees and apps are priced decently. I go at least once a week, staff is friendly and makes you feel welcome.

I like this place. There's a warm feel from the moment you walk in 'til the time you leave. I ordered the chirashi, which for the price, was surprisingly large with a great variety of sashimi. And the rice was perfectly vinegar-y. I also ordered the ahi poke which was delish - it brought me back to HI with those few scrumptious bites. My hubby ordered the shoyu ramen which was tasty but not better than other Japanese restaurants in Broward with the same offering. I haven't tried any of their specialty rolls that fellow Yelpers have raved about so I will have to try those next time. All in all, service-food-prices were really good. I would recommend this place to my peeps!

One of my favorite place ! They makes incredibles rolls ! Fresh and so tasty ! If it wasnt that far for me I would go everyweek ! The restaurant hitself is not big, it's simple, far away from the luxury trendy places you would find in Miami area. Prices are correct and portions are ++ !

Excellent! Great sashimi, with quality fish. My mom raved about the tempura, and Dad very nearly smiled when he tasted his yakisoba. I've never had tempura-fried green apples before, but they make for a wonderful dessert- especially with the elegant plating, green tea ice cream and fruit garnish.

We've been to this one lots. We've sat in the restaurant before but, for the most part, we do takeout. There is no decor or ambiance in this one. Thus, it's good for some real good sushi on the go. The staff is always friendly as well and they've always been on time with our order. As for the food, we've had pretty much all the rolls and some sashimi as well. On occasion during the week I've had their lunch special which is solid for the price.

Read before going!!! My wife and I have been going here weekly for the last 6 months. The other night we walk in to order sushi. They have a employee sitting in the middle of the place having a loud personal phone conversation distributing everybody. The girl is on the phone the entire time we are there which is beyond annoying. The waitress comes to take our order. She starts off very rude and refuses to tell us if we order a boat of sushi and sashimi what type of fish we will get. I ask if we can pay extra to have tuna she gets loud and says no. She was so rude we said ok thank you we will go somewhere else. She then snatches the menu out of my wife's hand and storms off. We will never go back again and they need some serious customer service and basic etiquette training.

So, a sweet Malaysian lady from my offuce has been telling me to check out Koume for some time, and I am so happy that I finally took her up on the advice! As soon as you enter Koume you are loudly greeted by the sushi chefs behind the sushi bar, and that essentially sets the mood for the rest of your dining experience. I have gone twice now, and both waitresses have been very attentive. Now on to the food- the house ginger salad dressing is clearly made there and absolutely rocks my socks! Sushi was excellent, my fav was the spider roll with the soft shell crab. Don't leave without getting the lychee ice cream.. it's soooooooooo good! Oh, and their green tea is delightful as well. Perfect price point, and am definitely going to frequent this place!

The specialty rolls are getting smaller and smaller. Was super disappointed tonight. I paid $11 for a hurricane roll and was not worth what I paid. The people sitting next to me had awesome large rolls. I guess it pays to be friends with the sushi chef. Take a look at my last hurricane roll picture as it compares to the others. Disappointing.

Decided to try this place out since my regular sushi place closed. Really glad I did. The restaurant itself is super small, and they dont have a menu you can take home to be able to call orders ahead (which is why only 4 stars instead of 5) but when we got there, we ordered and it was only a 15 min wait for 3 rolls and a seaweed salad, which I have to say is one of the best and freshest seaweed salads I've had in a while. It didnt have the texture of rubberbands like most places I've tried lately. The rolls are a good size and the prices are pretty good too. This will probably be my new go to sushi place.

Great place for sushi. Even though the atmosphere is laid back it beats all the super expensive sushi restaurants in terms of flavor and taste. Really enjoy going here and if you're in the area it's certainly worth a try!

What a nice little sushi restaurant! I was in a rush and needed some quick, but good, food for dinner on a Sunday night; so I order for take out. The moment you step in the door, you are greeted with a very friendly and very charmingly awkward "Hellooooooooooo!" When you leave, you get an equally hilarious "Thank youuuuuuuuu!" Some people might be turned off by this, but I found it to be very welcoming. I ordered a Salmon Skin hand roll and my standard roll, the Spider roll. Both were well crafted and delicious. They even managed to make it look nice despite having to stuff it into a To Go box. The service was fast and the price is reasonable. Please come to this restaurant at least once, the chef will make your day with his greeting! I would absolutely recommend this place for anyone!

A really great find while we were in the area shopping today. Which is great since there didn't seem to be many non chain restaurants with good reviews around here. We were pleasantly surprised by Kuome. We had the Kuome roll, which was great, and the Bill roll was awesome too. Also, the Tuna sashimi was great and very fresh. The ONE weird thing? 25 cents for chopstick helpers for my kids. Really? All in all though, a great find. Kuome roll great. Bill roll too. Tuna sashimi was fresh and great.

Koume is by my office. I really like the sushi here. It's super fresh. Be sure to order in advance if you're doing an office lunch. I love the volcano roll, salmon skin roll and spider roll. TWO THINGS: I am the Man & this is the damn place for sushi by our office.

A M A Z I N G!!!! Found this place on google maps a few months ago and fell in loooove! It's a small family-owned place, intimate place with only a few tables, and totally deeeelicious!!! TRY THE TUNA TARTAR!!! You won't regret it, I promise!!!! The few rolls we had were awesome. The only one I remember (name-wise) is The Koume Roll... Yummy raw deliciousness. The staff is really sweet and they usually greet you with a HELLOOOOO at the door. If you're looking for great sushi without a snobby attitude, this is def the place.

My husband and I came here for the first time to have early dinner last night. Great move without a reservation because the place was packed a couple of hours after they opened at 5pm. We started with the Tuna Tataki which was beautiful presented and very fresh. The sauce is great, not to salty and the fish was cooked perfectly. Then we decided to order sushi rolls and we went by recommendations for these: Mexican, Dragon and Julia. Overall every piece of fish they serve here is FRESH and when I mean fresh I mean never frozen fish FRESH. The rolls were amazingly tasty, they are big portions so we had 3 between the both of us and was more than enough. For dessert we had the tempura ice cream, WORD OF CAUTION: you do not want to order this if you are less than 4 people, this plate is delicious because of the incredible tempura but it is HUGE!!! (HUGE: 2 pints of ice cream at least!) my husband also ordered his favorite: Mochi Ice cream and these were very nice and good sized! The service is really good and the prices are GREAT!! we paid $60 for this whole dinner with drinks. Definitely going back every time we visit Plantation.

Opens at noon and slowly filled as I enjoyed my sashimi. They all know something...it's cheap. Friendly, yes. Great sushi, No. Opening at noon and within 20min the place was almost full with the chef calling out people by name. Rainbow roll and sashimi sampler. Both were meh. The fish was room temperature with small cuts. The sampler was supplemented with tamago (egg). While I like it, throw on fish please. Everyone was extremely friendly and given the cheap price for what I did get, it's a value and good for lunch but I would not pull in for dinner.

I came here yesterday with a coworker. We like to go to different Japanese places, especially the ones that have ramen. The chef was very welcoming and gave us a sampler of the tuna tacos he made special for our first time and it was yummy. We ordered a Tonkotsu ramen noodle soup, fish tempura, spicy tuna roll, and tuna yukke. The tuna yukke was extremely tasty and elegant looking. The spicy tuna wasn't bad and the fish tempura was good with eel sauce. Tonkotsu on the other hand wasn't the greatest. I've only had ramen from 2 other places besides Koume and this was the 2nd best. The broth was too light and did not have as much flavor, but the noodles and pork inside was good with it. Other than that the experience was great and so was the food.

After wandering Sawgrass last week, I needed something to eat. I wasn't going to give in and go to Fridays or some other crummy chain, but it was getting late... We slipped in here half an hour before they closed for dinner. I knew the staff wanted to go home, so we got down to business and ordered a few different things - gyoza dumplings (they were good but felt a little... soft? I'm used to a bit more texture or something), an avocado salad (which was really pretty to look at... it wasn't my order so I can't report on it), a raw beef dish (the spicy one, not the tataki), and a garlic beef dish. That's right, no sushi. So, I'll focus on the two beef things. The raw one was like a mount of thinly sliced beef and green onions mixed with some sesame oil (it had that almost nutty flavor to it). Unfamiliar with this restaurant we asked for mild spicy and it was definitely mild. They did have some sriracha and (I'm guessing) dark soy on the dish that we could mix with the meat accordingly. I would likely order it again. The other beef dish was served in one of those black metal hot plate things. Normally it comes with onions and mushrooms, but I asked for it without the mushrooms. The beef was more like a steak that was sliced up for you in the bed of garlic-onions instead of some kind of generic sliced beef (you know what I mean!). As a garlic-lover, I died and went to heaven. I probably oozed garlic out of my pores for a couple days. The quality of the food was very good. The server we had just wanted to wrap up so I can't fault her for trying to rush us (very politely, mind you). The inside of the restaurant was very minimalistic and clean. Definitely a good choice that evening.

I go here primarily for the Ramen soups. My favorite is their Tonkotsu Ramen with a little bit of the traditional Japanese spice they provide to go along with it. If you've never experienced this warm Japanese delicacy, then you're in for a real treat. The place has got a small Japanese restaurant feel to it. It's simple but cozy and comfortable for a night out with your loved ones or friends. Their signature Koume roll is also particularly delicious. Give it a try along with some Sapporo beer. Despite the restaurant's small size however, it seems like they really tried hard to fit in as many tables as possible. You're almost guaranteed to have to look at a waiter's/waitress' butt while they take the order of the people sitting at the table just 10 inches away from you. It gets a little crowded sometimes but overall it's the ramen that gets me coming back. You just can't get it anywhere like this in South Florida.

I have been going to Koume for years. I order the same thing each time and have never been disappointed until today. I called to place a pick up lunch order, and the person on the other line did not have a clue what I was referring to. She then proceeded to be incredibly rude and told me that if I didn't know what I wanted I needed to come and look at the menu because they "could not spend the time". The food truly deserves 5 stars, but I am so dissatisfied with the customer service. I will find a more pleasant atmosphere.

You cant go wrong with Koume. They consistently have the freshest sushi in town. The wait staff if very friendly and efficient and the prices and reasonable. We did, however find a slightly better pace, but that shall remain nameless. lol This place is ALWAYS great and you won't be disappointed!

Started off great with the avocado salad, miso and Tuna tartar. We then got our salmon sushi and salmon rolls. The salmon reeked a strong odor. After eating it, it was spoiled and I threw up. They credit back for $6 roll but not the salmon sushi combo. It was our fist time here. Never will I come back...

I rarely pick a restaurant based on Yelp's reviews and leave disappointed. I mean, a place with 31 reviews and 4.5 stars must be epic, right? Well, when it comes to Koume, me thinks not. I was so excited to go discover this place! It had great reviews and I was really craving sushi. It was not hard to find, it's just a little ways off the 595 unto Hiatus and Sunrise. My first impression upon entering the restaurant: what's that smell? The place has a really, really weird odor that I can't really describe. It's almost a smell of bleach and... fish and dirt? I'm not sure. Either way, it's not pleasant, to say the least. Also, it is important to note that the place is extremely dirty. The walls and the carpet are in serious need of some white glove cleaning. For an appetizer, we shared two spring rolls... I am not a picky eater at all, but I know when something is really wrong with the food. This roll had a very weird texture inside. Like... gooey vegetables. It tasted vile... Bad start to a meal. We ordered the Mexican and Volcano Rolls to share. Mexican roll was pretty good; Volcano roll was a tasteless disaster. The banana tempra was tasty. The bananas were crunchy and the ice cream... creamy, I guess. I am so disappointed about this place! At least, I didn't break my wallet for the meal ($35 for two drinks, an appetizer, 2 rolls and a dessert). I definitely don't get the hype! Ew.

4 stars in the "small sushi restaurant without an attitude" category! Normally I would gave given them 3 stars because of the overly casual decor but the sushi is good. Honestly, I don't care where I am sitting while here. What it's not: overpriced, luxurious, snobby, or huge What it is: great, authentic, fresh, casual, and quaint I have been here a bunch of times and it has always been great! While there last night I realized I had not reviewed it yet and they deserve a great one! From reading the other reviews I now gather the very happy and loud greeting we received when we walked through the door must have been by the owner. Had no idea. I figured it was a very happy employee! We got the edamame, miso soup and ginger salad to start and share. Main meal was a combo of the Julia roll, Volcano roll and the Dragon roll. YUUUUMMY! so good! All accompanied by a Kirin Light of course. There was a couple behind us who ventured into doing sake bombs. The owner made sure everyone in the restaurant was involved in this process. He had me judge to see who the fastest person was. He wanted everyone to pound their fist and loudly say SAKE BOMB! three times and cheer the couple who was competing. We skipped dessert in favor of movie theatre candy later (bad idea) but will try it next time. Got a big and loud goodbye by the owner and employees as we headed out. It's a definite go to in my book. We also do take out from time to time and it's just as good.

The greeting you receive is definitely one of a kind! Great service and great food. The waiters are very friendly and the owner makes a point of waking around to the tables and greet everyone. We came before an event at BB&T center and were not disappointed. I would definitely recommend this place over any of the chain restaurants in the area.

Don't order without looking at the menu apparently a dragon roll isn't a California roll with eel and avocado like every other place in the world. The roll I got had shrimp tempura and it didn't look appetizing.

I love this place! Sushi is the freshest I've had in this area, and the staff is so friendly whether they know you or not... They are genuinely happy to serve you. Sushi is great and even better for the price. I would definitely recommend this place over any other that I've been to in this area. Not an overly nice restaurant, aka, wouldn't suggest a fancy date here, but great for a nice evening with good company!

I went to this place twice. The first time wasn't bad, was ok. The second time I got VERY SICK. Very nauseous, had to throw up 2 hours later. Seriously I thought I had food poisoning and had to go to the ER.

A sip of the green tea, with a bit of matcha at the bottom of the cup, hints already that this is a better than average Japanese restaurant. The ika sushi comes with a shiso leaf sandwiched between the rice and the squid, rather than tied w a band of seaweed. Another good sign. I just love the exquisite taste of shiso. Most "Japanese" restaurants don't do that, and some couldn't even if you ask, as they don't stock shiso. So you know immediately you are getting authentic, quality stuff. The sake selection is limited - a dry Karatamba, an unfiltered Shirosasa, and a sparkling. We tried the nigori as I like my sake sweet, and it's quite delicious. The Hawaiian Poke is delicious, the soft shelled crab retains the fresh juiciness of the crab meat. Most of the sushi are pretty good, though I won't say it's the best I've had in S Florida. I was excited that they have an Japanese menu (a menu written in Japanese), but it was a small one, with half the items not available. No okonomiyaki, no chawanmushi or other stuff I hope to see. I was excited to see champon, a rarity in S. Florida, though sadly it wasn't half as good as Sushi Jo's. The price is very reasonable, and service friendly.

This place is small and tucked away in a shopping center. All they have is a simple Koume sign in red outside, without looking it up, you wouldn't even know it was a Japanese restaurant. We came here with a pretty large party, 12 co-workers or so, and easily threw a wrench into their normal operations. On top of that, once our party was seated, more customers came flying in through the doors. With just two waitresses, they ultimately handled it all with very few errors. Not too bad! The food here is good. The pricing isn't bad and the portions are just right. The sashimi is fresh, but not the best I've had. All in all, a good experience though.

Wonderful food and even better service! Everyone that works here is friendly and they remember their regulars and treat you well! This is our favorite sushi spot ever and we go back every week because we just can't get enough. You should definitely come here!!!

I love Koume! The staff all recognize people by name and the owner is great. The food is ALWAYS fresh and authentic to Japan. A must see! Or taste ;)

This is my favorite sushi bar in South Florida, and I am very discerning with my raw fish. While there are some other quality sushi bars in the area, I keep coming back to Koume because of its warm and friendly atmosphere. The owner, Toshi-san, will always make you feel welcome. His sushi chefs are fabulous, including Toshi-san himself. The wait staff is wonderfully friendly and just as warm as the owner. I would recommend trying the Tuna Wonton for something deliciously different! I was impressed that they even serve natto, which is a very traditional Japanese appetizer that is not very popular with westerners. To me, this helps makes Koume super-authentic. Their menu has all of the usual suspects, plus lots of original dishes that are simply divine. For me, going to Koume is a solid 30 minute drive without traffic, but I try to make it out there at least once a month. It's that good! Don't let the location deter you - Koume is worth the trip, no matter where you're coming from!

One of good Japanese restaurant own by Japanese. also one of the best chef ( Japanese ) working there...!
(5)Jen M.
(1)Donna C.
(1)Andrea W.
Best sushi I've in South Florid so far! Spicy Tuna Roll was GREAT.
(5)Evan W.
Definitely quality food...I get take out all the time, eat there lunch a couple times a month. Everything is really good there and definitely one of the better restaurants in Plantation/Sunrise area.
(5)Jared M.
Great food! We try to visit at least once a week. The food is very fresh and they always remember us there. I highly recommend stopping buy if you are in the area.
(5)Steven L.
(2)Eschel H.
What Koume doesn't have in atmosphere (it's VERY casual), it more than makes up for in the quality of the fish and the service. If you live in West Broward, this place should be your standard sushi destination.
(4)cynthia k.
AWESOME Japanese Food!!! If you like a little hot, ask for the Spicy Sean Roll, its not on the menu but it's excellent!
(5)Crissy I.
(2)Edgar S.
Great food, great service.
(5)Stephanie N.
(4)Jacques M.
High quality sushi with low price. The decor is basic but the atmosphere is great. I really liked the way the Chef welcomes you. Good spot, full of locals.
(4)Fatty D.
(4)Rafael A.
Excelent sushi..
(4)Dee C.
Yummy spicy tuna rolls and ramen! the only place I get my Ramen fix.
(4)Joshua G.
(5)Erika R.
Got food poisoning here! Called to let them know and they were so rude. Will NEVER EAT HERE again!
(1)Mike D.
Delicious food. Even simple dishes like the chicken fried rice make for a delicious meal. My fianceé gets the appetizer "fish cakes" and the avocado salad and she absolutely loves them. The ONLY thing I'd like to see is the implementation of fountain soda and free refills. All that soy sauce needs at least 2 cans of soda to get through a meal, so a fountain machine would be great.
(5)Anna B.
Love this place! The only downfall is they close between 2:00 and 5:30! I would recommend this place 100%
(5)Ethan Y.
I didn't have sushi here. But the food is very authentic and nice here. I had some noodles. They were serving late on Labor Day weekend.
(3)Alex E.
Excellent japanese food at reasonable prices. Service was fast and attentive. Went for lunch on a Friday shortly after they opened for the day.
(5)Seth K.
(4)Luis G.
(5)Richard K.
(5)Michael H.
(5)Julie F.
I was one of the original owners of this restaurant. We opened this restaurant in 1999 and sold it to Toshi in 2006. Toshi was my caterer. He is a great chef and very energetic. Every customer is greeted with a big hello. This is truly a Japanese owned restaurant.
(5)Sarah T.
(4)Cindy B.
(4)Jennifer A.
(4)Alison T.
Good sushi and delicious pineapple saki tinis!
(4)Cathy C.
(2)Christian S.
One of the best japanese restuarants ive visited in Usa. Its not very big but the staff makes upp for it with very good service and the food is just excellent! All in all if you like japanese food and are close by you really should try it. Oh and order Gyosa as the apitzer ;)
(5)Shari H.
(5)Chiemi H.
Awesome! Food was great and being from Japan, it was nice to see a Japanese restaurant really have authentic Japanese food.
(5)Jay J.
(5)Marianne W.
What a great little secret in Surnise. Fantastic sushi (and i'm a picky one!) and great fried ice cream. The price is well worth it!!
(5)Eman V.
(5)Alan M.
(5)Mike P.
(3)Mike B.
Would give a 4.5 stars if I could so I gave it a five because the sushi was very good; friendly helpful staff; enjoyed my time there with my son; only drawback is restaurant which is in a strip mall with limited seating
(5)D G.
Awesome place the first time.. the second time not so much. it was busy and waitstaff isnt good enough for how busy it is. also if you cannot remember the order right it down.
(3)Dayana V.
(5)Deb G.
(3)Nicole P.
(5)Adrian P.
(5)Santee W.
Casual dining. Awesome sushi and friendly staff. Would give 5 stars if decor was nicer. Overall nice, clean, and fun.
(4)Maxine V.
(4)Bruno T.
Fresh, flavorful, authentic sushi. Impeccable service -- friendly, attentive, and impressively fast.
(4)Max B.
Very good Sushi/Sashimi. If you are a regular Sushi person, you will definitely know the difference in freshness and taste. The place can get a bit crowded but with this good sushi, it's understandable.
(4)Simon K.
(5)Bahia S.
(5)Mathias S.
Great quality for a superb value. Friendly atmosphere and definitely the top sushi restaurant in the neighborhood. It's rare to find a place that does an ikura handroll, try it, it's fantastic.
(4)Alejandra M.
(5)Jordyn W.
Good fresh sushi! Must try their poki poki salad its delicious!
(4)David D.
(4)M. S.
Not a whole lot of good sushi restaurants in the plantation area. Out of all of them, this would be my recommendation. My husband and I have never had anything bad here. Also, the staff is super friendly and greets everyone AS they walk in the door. They also have several good rice-less sushi roll options.
(5)Abe G.
(4)Pablo R.
(5)Christina M.

(4)Alexii N.
Good sushi place- very fresh, especially with there not being a ton in the area. Ordered in for the first time the other day, and for the most part, I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered: Holly Roll: yummy dynamite topping with tempura shrimp and crunchy asparagus. Fave of the night. Dancing Shrimp Roll: a little basic but still good Mexican Roll: would order again; lettuce gave a great crunch Plantation Roll: riceless and wrapped in cucumber and lettuce this roll was very refreshing and with the tuna was a nice protein option Spicy Tuna Roll: I didn't have but fiancé liked Miso Soup: very good Michelle's Salad: tuna and avocado on lettuce- yum Will definitely order from them again! Very good overall.

(5)Lauren M.

(3)Cierra M.
Sushi is legit! Teriyaki frok the kitchen is tasty too. Awesome lunch specials. I frequent this place. I love their greeting as you go in and out as well.
(5)Andi T.
(4)Monique M.

(3)Ana K.
(5)Jennifer F.
(4)Julio M.
(4)Elizabeth R.
I love Koume. It is always good food. The Service is really good. They really are Attentive and even apologize when it is taking to long to get your food out. We go regularly.. and do the whole take out thing more often than we eat there and we eat there a lot. Their lunch is hard to beat for the price and quality of food. Enjoy!!!
(5)Hikaru N.
(5)Evan A.
(4)Alice I.
(5)Forest W.
Love this place. Some of the best sushi in Broward! I had the rainbow roll and it is always great. Service was attentive. Im a fan and a regular! Go if you love good sushi!
(4)Charmie P.
(4)Pak L.
Their food is very good! Absolutely love their tuna wonton. The most amazing dish is their chirashi, There are so many different kinds of sashimi in a bowl and they are all fresh!! Definitely will visit once in a while
(4)Felicia R.

(5)Manny M.
(5)Jocelyn J.
(4)Julien M.
(4)Dan T.
(5)Lawrence P.
(4)Juan S.
Very good food. Service is a little slow during busy hours. The fried rice is awesome!
(4)Adam M.

(5)Paul S.
This place is the bomb.l! the sign outside is not lit, so it's ingognito, but keep looking because it's worth it!
(5)Ruthie G.
Love Love this sushi Restaurant :) Great Ramen as well ... I highly recommend their Miami Heat roll.. It's amazing ! Also the service is great and I love how you can custom make your rolls !! Wonderful :)
(5)Larry R.
I love this place. It's my secret sushi place for a casual dinner with my daughter! Everything on the menu is reasonably priced and excellent quality. The service is fantastic too!!
(5)Chris G.
Nice, cozy, and good.
(4)Julio A.
Been coming.here for more than 10 years. Consistent great sushi. The lunch bentos are food also and service just plain works.
(4)Kim P.
(2)Alexa V.
(4)Anna B.
Great place for sushi. Even though the atmosphere is laid back it beats all the super expensive sushi restaurants in terms of flavor and taste. Really enjoy going here and if you're in the area it's certainly worth a try!
(4)Renalyn A.
Tonight's my first time having their Dolphin Roll (Tempura). I've been to many places I would say theirs is really good and huge sizes. Lol I couldn't eat the whole plate! :-) I recommend this place.
(4)Ken N.
(5)Kinney W.
Great sushi! Being greeted everytime you come in is a nice touch, but their food on point every time. I don't usually like cucumber rolls, but their's are mouth watering.
(5)Moises W.
this place was super fun! atmosphere was fun *& casual. Wait staff was ok but the sushi chef was hilarious. Sushi was excellent, fresh, and great value The cooked food my daughter had was so so. Definite neighborhood favorite
(4)Keelan P.
(5)Charles J.
Koume is by my office. I really like the sushi here. It's super fresh. Be sure to order in advance if you're doing an office lunch. I love the volcano roll, salmon skin roll and spider roll. TWO THINGS: I am the Man & this is the damn place for sushi by our office.
(4)ALMA G.
Never disappoints. Small little restaurant with about 12 tables or so, but the food is unbelievable (Holly roll is a favorite). Service is the best. Highly recommended!
(5)Jazzmin A.
(5)Ashley M.
Adorable little dinner spot! Hard working staff on a busy Saturday night! Called with a reservation and they had our table ready for when we arrived. Fresh sushi, delicious combinations. Definitely recommend !
(4)Melissa N.
(4)Mark F.
(3)Amber H.
