Great BBQ, a little on the divey side, but don't let that scare you away. Good choice of side dishes to go with some excellent BBQ.

Great BBQ. The sides are unique compared to the mainstream joint (baked beans with a lot brown sugar... Spicy Mac salad). I'm a fan of it all.

Very good bbq I had the combo rods and sausage with green and beans. The ribs was tender and the sausage was tasty. The only thing is the ribs could us a little more smoke maybe some hickory wood. I will say we will be back for more.

Not really my first choice It was recommended from a client that this was the best bbq. We went with the family to have lunch. We order the combination dinners (i.e. ribs, pork, beef, chicken). We were disappointed. The ribs tasted like they were boiled, chicken dry, macaroni salad spicy, etc. The only thing that was iced tea and coleslaw. Basically it was horrible. Ambience no air conditioning and very dirty. I am surprised that they pass health inspection and still in business. I have to say this will not even be my last choice.

Going neutral in my vote as I did not visit. Didn't visit because they don't sell hot dogs for kids. C'mon, you're a BBQ joint.

Excellent pork BBQ. Nice size, clean and friendly. Brisket too salty for me, but they warned me. I should have ordered their handout French fries that other customers said were great. Oh well next I can try them.

Recently brought in several out of town colleages and vendors. They wanted to go somewhere that was unique and not not chain or franchise, etc. 1st Choice was a hit! Now that is where they always want to go. The guys at 1st Choice go out of their way to serve us and the food is totally worth it. I always have the turkey and sausage combo with collard greens. It's southern BBQ at it's best. I have found that there are some that are only used to Sonny's or Woody's and therefore cannot appreciate 1st Choice.

It's never a good sign when you pull up to the BBQ joint at noon on Saturday and you can't smell any smoke. The have a nice pit out back and some wood laying around, but nothing was going, and it looked like nothing had been going for awhile. It's a nice enough looking place, fairly traditional in appearance for BBQ places, which probably explains the good reviews it gets. (The mens bathroom was very clean) The pork dinner includes 2 sides. I always order the same thing, if available- slaw and beans. The slaw was very good, and generous. That was the highlight of the meal. The beans tasted more like pumpkin pie than baked beans, and the consistency was too runny, which means they weren't baked, just heated in a pot. The meat was the biggest disappointment. I knew when the guy grabbed a handful and put it on the chopping block that things were going downhill. If the pork is properly cooked, it doesn't need to be chopped. No smoke flavor at all. The sauce was sort of a midwestern style, too sweet for me, but lots of people like that. So the scores are: Appearance: A; Slaw: A; Beans: D; Meat: D; Sauce:B-

This is wonderful BBQ. Some of the best I have tasted here in Fla. Great prices and good food. I would highly recommend it.

Great BBQ, my first stop after arriving in Tampa from Indy, worth the drive to Plant City!

Excellent BBQ. Use to frequently visit the Brandon location,it's excellent as well. Very happy when they opened this one in Plant City. Very friendly staff, not much for frills , just good food at decent prices!

First Choice is a real blue collar kind of place to get your BBQ fix and a nice affordably priced "order and take food back to your table" kind of setup. Since we wanted to try a little of everything, I did a combo platter of brisket and pork with some cole slaw and baked beans on the side. Both meats were solid and I would recommend both. We came during dinnertime on a mid week night and it was a shame that there were only a couple other tables filled, but I can imagine they have a considerable amount of take out BBQ orders. The guys that worked here were really helpful and friendly, would definitely be back if I was in the area.
