I went to this restaurant, trusting the rating... I was extremely disappointed... We order the ramen, some sushi and dumplings... The ramen and I quote my boyfriend "the worst ramen I have ever had"... The broth was tasteless, the pork was overcook and the noodles might as well had been from noodles in a cup... The sushi was average... Overall not a good experience!!!

Food was overpriced and...whatever. We asked the older, more plump Korean lady how many ounces the wafu steak was; she didn't know, but she said it is "big". I think they should at least know the size of their steaks. People are interested in portion sizes, you know. It wasn't that big, actually. It was long, but not big. The best part of the meal came when I signed the check, and the plump old lady came to collect it. She looked at it, hesitated and came back to our table. "Can you put the amount of tip on this line?" I had written the total, but not the tip separately. I took the pen and wrote, "2.90" and gave it to her. She glanced at it, and asked disgustedly, "two dollars tip??" and walked away. Actually, closer to three dollars, you idiot. And you don't go examining your tip and questioning it right in front of your customers. We went home feeling like the entire experience had been shat on, because of this woman's rudeness. Those smiles and being asked, "how is everything?" will cost you a dollar a piece. Oh, the joys of our stupid American tip system, which by the way doesn't even exist in Japan, even though service is five times better there.

I have been here twice now. After rave reviews from local friends, I went once and then tried it again to make sure I wasn't missing something. The 1st time I went I got sushi and it came as 2 pieces for 1 order. The 2nd time I was told that the price on the menu is for 1 piece. So did the waitress from the 1st time make a mistake? I ordered similarly both times and the bill was $10 more because of the sushi miscommunication. Between the 2 times I was there I also got the atomic roll, the spider roll, an eel roll and a spicy tuna roll. The sushi is fresh, no complaints there. The service is inconsistent. The food is overpriced. I'll only go back if I'm with my local friends who seem to really like it there.

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal although it was a little pricey. Then again, I'm spoiled by my favorite spot! Lol I had an omakase(chefs choice) which brought some sashimi, uni, ankimo, and a few other tasty items. All in all, I've had better, but I won't complain because the quality and service are spot on. This is a good spot to go to when you're just starting to move past the cooked stuff since they have a good variety of both. If you're in the area, check it out!

This place is awesome. After a few horrible South Florida dining experiences, Miyako was really able to renew my faith in dining. The sushi selection was inventive, beautiful, and delicious. They offer raw quail eggs to add to any sushi although I prefer with masago or uni. I also had and recommend the meaty and flavorful the hamachi kama. Service and food are top notch and it's in walking distance to the Marriott.

This is my go-to place for japanese. The lunch specials are great for the price and dinner is nice, too, if you happen to be looking for a semi-casual sushi place to dine out. I usually order a combination special that comes with sushi, sashimi, and shrimp tempura. Everything else I've tried in the past has always been great. The service as well. Oh, and I love sitting in the booths on top of the little floor pillows!

Had takeout after a local friend said it was the best around. Sashimi cut so thick it was like eating cold chewy old jello, rice was odd, not that good honestly but average. When you see a Japanese restaurant with a head sushi chef who isn't Japanese and everything is precut, u can never expect much. I would not go back or suggest it to anyone. if you want real japanese food, this is NOT the place. If you want rolls of yuck with cream cheese and mayo, it's your home.

This is my daughter's favorite restaurant because they have Japanese style tables where you can sit on cushions on the floor. Of course they also have regular tables but these are a lot more fun! The sushi is decent, and so are their tempura and teriyaki dishes. Their prices, especially for lunch, are pretty affordable. The best thing about the restaurant is the service, you just feel really welcome as soon as you enter the door.

Best sushi in Miami. Their rolls are creative and the fish couldn't be fresher unless they got it from the ocean itself and had it sent over on a jet. The staff is always super nice. Their azuki bean ice cream has actual beans and is not just vanilla ice cream died red. Make sure to try the special rolls on the dry erase board and if you still can't find exactly what you like the chefs are always open to new ideas or modifying an existing roll. I didn't like sushi until I started coming to Miyako of dadeland and it is truly a hidden gem.

If you like large rolls creatively made with fresh fish and friendly service, don't go anywhere else for sushi. Us they have tv and actually show sports not news.

My favorite Japanese restaurant. The best hamachi I have ever tasted and very generous with their servings. My husband gets a a moriawase for 1 and we share. Always fresh. If you go more than once the servers remember you and take the best care. A great South Miami find

Great lunch specials!!! Very very fresh sushi. The only thing for me is that they slice the the sushi way to thick for my liking. Thankfully they are very accommodating and will slice the sushi in much thinner slices when I ask them to.

I was so excited to find out that there was a Miyako in Pinecrest . But when I went in and ordered my food something was different. Although the front door said Miyako it wasn't the same Miyako that I love in South Miami. My rolls were not fresh at all not to mention the staff was a bunch of kids running the dinning room. After reading their reviews on Yelp I really thought this was the same Miyako ( South Miami ) !!! But it was a fake!!! My rolls fell apart , like it wasn't wrapped tight enough. I didn't even finish my meal . This is not cool !!! They should really change their name and stop misleading people in thinking that they are Miyako !!!

Our family goes to Miyako's at least twice a week. We absolutely love it! The owners are great, and the food is second-to-none!! Their ginger dressing is out of this world, and you have got to try the fried ice cream for dessert. Their sushi is always incredibly fresh and flavorful. In fact, I'm savoring some of my leftover vegetable roll right now.... YUM!

Had take out and was very impressed. Ordered for three and it was enough for four. More importantly the pieces were fresh and creative. Slightly on the pricey side but worth it.

Went there for lunch, the service was prompt and friendly. The vegetable rolls were the best I've ever had. The vegetable fried rice was also amazing, however, the salad was pretty mundane. Will go back if only for the vegetable rolls.

if you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all, so i'll keep it brief. The rolls are great if fried, cream cheesy globby, eel saucy, phallic rolls are your thing....so do your thang!! The only thing i can say i wasn't upset having were the slices of MonkFish Liver which my boo agreed needed a little something extra other than ponzu and scallions. add tempura flakes, or kimchee...maybe even little slivers of bbq eel because it was putting us to sleep..then again we're 2 robust jerks so yeah.. The hamachi kama also needed a little work, the piece itself was nice but needed a little more love from the kitchen. "i am disappoint." I wish they had music to drown out the incessant loud yapping from the yuppie girls and their nasally parents going on and on about taking a Balenciaga bag to Brazil but possibly getting mugged. Shut up already!!!... oh Pinecrest. love the Tatami booths though.

Miyako, oh you handsome little gem of a restaurant. Judging by the fact that this sushi spot only carries 15 reviews to date (now 16) makes me realize that it's nowhere near as popular as it should be. And while I could say something hackneyed like, "it's for the better, that means more for me!," I want more people to know about this spot. For one, it's some of the best, no frills sushi I've had. The rolls are vast and varied and for dinner, our server suggested the Red Dragon roll (an off the menu option). Shrimp tempura, with a little bit of cream cheese, topped with fresh tuna, a little spicy tobiko, and served with a streak of spicy tuna mayo. Honestly, it's the kind of roll I'll end up craving. Just ask nicely though, as this little roll doesn't come without you specifically requesting it. The next dream worthy item was the tuna topped spinach nachos. These glazed baby chunks of tuna came perfectly seasoned somewhere between sweet and salty and once paired with the little puffs of chips and supple spinach, oh my god. Finally, the Thai donuts. Delicately fried and dipped in a little bit of condensed milk. Thank me later. So, what have we learned? Order the Red Dragon roll, the tuna spinach nachos, and the Thai donuts. Help me make this little strip mall slice of sushi heaven a must on any sushi lover's list.

Miyakos is definitely one of those hidden jewels in the Pinecrest area, and it calls for some much deserved attention. The place is super traditional Japanese, with wooden furniture, lanterns, folk art and vintage textiles. Very plain, but comfortable. When you walk in there's a bamboo divider that splits the entrance/host desk, from the dinning room. The left wall is made up of divided wooden cubicles that are elevated from the floor, where you can sit on traditional Tatami mats and cushions, and low floor tables. The sushi bar is on the far right corner, where the chefs prepare the fresh handmade rolls for your excuisite meal. I'd dare say this is my favorite place to eat sushi. The staff is always very attentive and friendly, and the portions are very generous. It's a great spot to grab some dinner with friends, knock back some Sapporo or Sake and enjoy some of the best rolls and tempura in the Miami Area. Their brown rice rolls really hit the spot, and their lunch bento box specials are some of the best lunch specials in the area. Also if you are ever in a good take out mood, this is the place you want to hit up. Their menu is huge! So many options, I definitely, definitely recommend this branch!

Love Miyako. Absolutely my most favorite sushi join in miami. I have been going there for years and they have never failed to satisfy my sushi cravings. I eat there at least once a week and would recommend to anyone. Above all, the staff are extremely friendly and have gotten to know me well. They always bring out the special sauces I have previously requested without me having to ask. Wait time is never long and they're always on point. If any consider going, you should definitely try the red dragon roll. as stated below it is not on the menu and is served upon special request. Another really great tasting roll is the Miami roll. Its fried snapper with lettuce and spicy mayo. Super cheap and great portions. Oh and almost forgot! My favorite part is being able to sit down on the floor in the booths, nice touch :)

This place is right by my house. I never bothered trying it until a couple of year ago. It was SO GOOD. The lunch was portions are more than enough and the price is excellent. Dinner was overkill with the amount of food they served! Conch sunomono is a must have. Notice how that was all past tense. As of now, their portions have definitely gotten smaller and there have been some price changes. That would be the main reason why I have to give then 3 stars instead of 4. However, service is always awesome every single time. They accommodate for your needs and always check up on you. It's always a pleasure of hang around and chat with the people that work there! I won't stop going to this place even though it's gotten pricier!!!!

Great sushi. I love the Atomic Bomb and the sea bass on spinich. The service is not that great. It is hit and miss but for great sushi this is a solid place for the price.

Color me impressed. I went with a group for dinner and we ordered a mix of sashimi, sushi, and dishes. The sashimi...$12 and the pieces of fish were the size of small dinner rolls. Freaking amazing. Bonus points for the constant green tea refills. I sampled the cooked dishes and they had a great flavor as well. The spicy tuna was nothing to write home about but everything else made up for it.

I went to Miyako specifically because it was so well-reviewed by all the yelpers. I must be honest....I wasn't super impressed. Maybe it was due to all the hype it was given. If something is hyped up, you usually expect perfection. The food was decent. I am still a loyal patron to Lan. :) The one thing that was incredible was the conch sunomono. I will venture back and get a huge portion of that! I was also impressed by their service. ALL of the employees greeted us and said goodbye as we walked out the door.

I am truly not a sushi fanatic, but I've tried all the rolls here and its delicous. They also have other options available, if ur not feeling the seafood. Its quite small, but that gives it an intimate setting - 2 seating choices ( tables or floor ). The service is good and quick. TIP: Lunch is pretty smooth, but for dinners I would call ahead for status on seating.

I'm here at least twice a week. The boys behind the bar know us by name, and know what we like. We just tell em what flavors we want and they end up making incredible creations every time! These guys know exactly what flavors work together and I've never had a less than awesome experience there! Love you guys!

Small establishment, but blown away by the quality and variety of foods. I tried the Chicken Wafu (sauce on the side -- come on, how many people know what "ponzu" or "daikon" mean before they've tried it once?). It was absolutely AMAZING. I quickly found out I didn't even need the sauce on the side, as it was brilliantly sweet and unlike anything else I'd ever tried. The meal I ordered ran somewhere from $13-$17, I believe. I can't recall exactly because it was a few nights ago. It's not the cheapest place to eat, but for exceptional Japanese food (including sushi and sashimi) you can't go wrong.

Always consitantly great! Sit at the bar and enjoy the crew they are amazingly friendly and helpful. They make great suggestions and will make anything you want within reason. The food is fresh and the service is frist rate. I really to enjoy this place it is small and not really well know but has a good local vibe.

I really like eating here. They serve some things nobody else in miami seems to. My daughter loves the chicken katsu curry at lunch. And, the other night, their sushi was super fresh. The other great thing is they still have tables where you can sit on the floor- my kids liked it, my grandkids like it. great sushi and tempura.

I love this little whole in the wall sushi restaurant. My husband and I are always greeted with a very friendly smile and attended too right away. They have the best ebi shumai with spicy mustard sauce, to die for ! yum yum yum!!!!!!!

Miyakos is a small sushi restaurant in Pinecrest. I've been in and out of there for years. They are the go to place that fills the sushi need. It's not that they are out of this world, but there product is fresh. There service is friendly and fast.

Went here for lunch, cool place with really good fresh no BS Sushi & Sashimi. Shrimp Tempura - Simply Splendid! Service - Great! Cool booths, sit on pillows no shoes allowed, so ya got foot odor issues?, No problem, sit at a table and do us all a favor. Want to watch sports? There's one big flat screen, get your seat facing that direction. Prices are middle of the road but you'll get your money's worth here, and it's yum yum good!

I was a little scared when we entered and the place was almost empty. Thankfully, we had a great experience. We're not sushi experts, but the food was very fresh and tasty. I ordered the dragon roll. Is tasted great, the combination of flavors worked perfectly. The fish was fresh. Hubby ordered one of the dinner combinations that had miso soup, California roll, tempura and chicken teriyaki. I only tried the tempura (delicious!) and the rolls. The veggie tempura were my faves. Crunchy and fresh... Delish!

This restaurant seems dead when you walk in. The primary reason is that they don't have music playing in the background. It is dead quiet. You feel that if you have a conversation, it can be heard by everyone in the restaurant. If they would fix this problem it would greatly help their business.

Miyako should be a lesson to the rest of the sushi-joints in Miami: do ONE type of thing and do it well instead of two cuisines in a mediocre fashion. Do you hear me, endless number of Thai+Sushi restaurants? This sushi restaurant is the best I've yet encountered in Miami. And in fact, it would rate very highly even in Southern California. For anyone who knows what a sushi nirvana exists in SoCal, that's high praise. The fish is fresh, cut well and the sushi portions are generous. But I want to highlight a few key items that make Miyako stand-out: 1. The fresh wasabi. Yes, NOT THE PASTE -- which incidentally is not the actual, botanical wasabi. They have that, but ask for the fresh. It kind of looks and bursts in your mouth like caviar and tastes more mild than the paste, but is still packed with that distinctive flavor. 2. The Miso soup. Specifically, the conch soup -- which isn't labeled as miso soup, but is. But with conch and (more importantly) a seafood broth as its base. It adds something great to standard miso soup, and I've only had one restaurant (in SoCal) do the same. Note, don't ask for the Miso, but the conch soup or you'll get regular miso soup. 3. The fish collar. YES. You know they actually know japanese cuisine when they offer this, and they do a good job. So, if you want actual, non-fast-food or "oh yeah, we do this too" sushi in Miami, Miyako is your best bet we've found.

I finally tried Miyako for lunch after working and living right around the corner for 2 years. I don't regret waiting so long. I didn't expect the food or service to blow me away, but I did have high expectations given the 4+ star Yelp reviews. The Yelp community has not let me down... until now. Our server asked if we were ready to order less than 30 seconds after we sat down. I asked if we could get a few minutes to look over the 9 page menu. I decided to order a classic dish: chicken teriyaki with sushi and sashimi (lunch special) and we started with conch appetizer. I enjoyed the conch; it tasted very fresh. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for my main dish. The chicken was very dried out and the teriyaki sauce tasted like a mix of soy sauce and ketchup. I was quite surprised that they could screw up such a simple dish. On top of that, the edamame on the side was cold and undercooked. The sushi and sashimi were okay, but not spectacular. All in all, there are much better options for Asian restaurants in Miami.

This restaurant is a hidden treasure among the large sea of sushi restaurants in Miami. This is definitely a local's spot-- Nothing fancy. If you ever have the pleasure of dining here, I suggest the following: -Tuna tartare on tofu (off the menu) -Sam salad (off the menu) -USA Roll -Tex Mex Roll The staff is ALWAYS friendly and they offer complimentary hot green tea (for those who ask). I promise you will not be disappointed.

This is the worst restaurant I ever been to in few years. How can you eat this crap?? I have eaten sushi in many countries cheap or expensive restaurants. We ordered katsu don, miso ramen and some rolls. We couldn't finish any of them because they were not edible. And their ingredients were old... I always appreciated yelpers reviews... Not this time.

This is definitely one of my fav sushi restaurants. I visit this location often as its close to work and home but love the service and ambiance. The waitresses are friendly the sushi is amazing and fresh and the soups are delicious. No dinner is complete without Thai donuts. Do not leave without trying them you will regret it. Had the Miami Hurricane roll and it was delicious. Decided to try something different and it was a great choice. Can't wait to go again and try another type of roll!

A Pinecrest staple. For straight-up sushi and other Japanese delectables, this is my go-to. Don't get me wrong, there are some "interesting" items on the menu, like the Dragon Roll, with soft shell crab, avocado, asparagus, roe and rooster sauce. The specials menu also may contain some slightly more adventurous items. That's all fine and good. But I come here for the plain old Sushi Mori B combo. You know the drill. California roll, tekka roll, nigiri. So simple. So tasty. Am I really about to sing the praises of a freakin' generic tuna roll? Yes, yes I am. It's the perfect sushi bite. Fresh tuna and just the right amount of rice. The Sushi Mori A plate comes with more nigiri, but without the tekka....and I just can't bring myself to not get those disturbingly simple, addicting tuna rolls. I haven't been disappointed with the freshness of the nigiri yet, either. Save the piece of eel for last - I love that sweet/savory taste; it's the perfect way to finish the meal!

Alright. I am a huge foodie. And to like Japanese food a lot it hurts me to say that Miyako is "OK". I walk in and there's just a dead type of energy. No smiles and the owners are not that welcoming. I prefer to be very welcomed per say. I went with my family to eat, and they did not really like the food. Miyako needs improvement on management, food, and the whole up bringing of their restaurant. But on a positive note their Aged Tofu was pretty good.

Great food great servixe, every time I come here they are just great. Small place, not many tables so hard to get a seat if you show up for lunch late.

Very accommodating people! They have lots of choice for food: tempura, noodles, nigiri/sushi rolls, curry rice, katsu, covering basic Japanese food you can think about. Can't say the food is excellent but definitely better and more authentic than most Japanese restaurants in this price range. Will go back.

Delicious! This wasn't our 1st choice but the other place was closed for vacation. A couple outside recommended it & boy were they right. It was one of the most flavorful sushi dishes I've ever had (& I've had plenty). Too bad it's not closer to where we live.

Having traveled to Tokyo, this establishment is about as Japanese as you can get in the states. I have explored their menu just about every weekend to every other. You simply cannot go wrong. The Sake selection is wonderful. Try their cloudy selection. For appetizers anything on the menu is great. Besides their out of the world sushi both on freshness and flavor their Beef Stir Fry and the Shrimp tempura Undon are winners. I can never get enough of this place!

I am not sure why this place was so hyped up. The device was nice, but all of the rolls I tried were terrible. They were loose and the topping were put on in a sloppy manner. The small sized made the atmosphere feel cramped.

This place is my favorite sushi restaurant in Miami and I was born and raised in this town. My favorite rolls are the Miami Heat rolls and the Miami Hurricane roll. The ginger salad is also superb. The service is very friendly and fast. The sushi has always had a fresh fish taste that one can tell that the rolls one just ordered were just made.

This is a great find. Mom and Pop style restaurant and service. Food is excellent and serves non commercial Japanese food.

Great Japanese food. They have two branches--I prefer this one. It's smaller and I think the service is better. TOP: Try the brown rice--even with sushi. Their fish is very fresh. I especially like their Chicken Teriyaki. For the best value, go at lunch time and enjoy one of their bento boxes.

I have been here twice now. After rave reviews from local friends, I went once and then tried it again to make sure I wasn't missing something. This place is awesome. After a few horrible South Florida dining experiences, Miyako was really able to renew my faith in dining. The sushi selection was inventive, beautiful, and delicious.

YUM!
(5)Jorge C.
Had take out and was very impressed. Ordered for three and it was enough for four. More importantly the pieces were fresh and creative. Slightly on the pricey side but worth it.
(4)Harrison W.
My favorite place to eat period!
(5)Jorge P.

Love the ambiance, the decor, the service and the food. I had a wonderful experience and I will definitely come back. I recommend the ramen soup. YUM!

(5)Alexis R.

(3)James P.
Great sushi. I love the Atomic Bomb and the sea bass on spinich. The service is not that great. It is hit and miss but for great sushi this is a solid place for the price.
(4)Erin R.

Rock solid

I went to Miyako specifically because it was so well-reviewed by all the yelpers. I must be honest....I wasn't super impressed. Maybe it was due to all the hype it was given. If something is hyped up, you usually expect perfection. The food was decent. I am still a loyal patron to Lan. :) The one thing that was incredible was the conch sunomono. I will venture back and get a huge portion of that! I was also impressed by their service. ALL of the employees greeted us and said goodbye as we walked out the door.
(3)Dubhe M.
(3)claudia l.
I'm homebound and THEY DON'T DELIVER, so I actually don't know. Please correct that, Yelpy.
(3)Megan D.
I'm here at least twice a week. The boys behind the bar know us by name, and know what we like. We just tell em what flavors we want and they end up making incredible creations every time! These guys know exactly what flavors work together and I've never had a less than awesome experience there! Love you guys!
(5)Matt K.
(5)Shane A.
Always consitantly great! Sit at the bar and enjoy the crew they are amazingly friendly and helpful. They make great suggestions and will make anything you want within reason. The food is fresh and the service is frist rate. I really to enjoy this place it is small and not really well know but has a good local vibe.
(5)Carol A.
(4)Veronica D.
I love this little whole in the wall sushi restaurant. My husband and I are always greeted with a very friendly smile and attended too right away. They have the best ebi shumai with spicy mustard sauce, to die for ! yum yum yum!!!!!!!
(4)Andy D.
Miyakos is a small sushi restaurant in Pinecrest. I've been in and out of there for years. They are the go to place that fills the sushi need. It's not that they are out of this world, but there product is fresh. There service is friendly and fast.
(4)Willy H.
This is my favorite spot to eat sushi!! And today I order a chirashi, iidako, and two piece of uni bomb!! Ohh man. Im so happy that I have found this places!! Miyako if are reading this you guys rocks!!
(5)Charlie F.
(4)Carolina M.
Delish!
(4)Al C.

(4)Jee C.
(1)Oriana S.
Very fresh and classic sushi. Service is friendly and fast! I work at the Datran building and it's one of the best options around
(5)Yvette B.
(5)Stephanie D.
The food and service was good, but there isn't anything special about this restaurant that sets it apart from any other Japanese restaurant in Miami.
(4)Sara O.
I've been coming here for the past 20 years and I can honestly say that the menu is amazing ! They have excellent sushi chefs, warm staff and excellent ambience. The dishes they make are worth every penny !
(5)Patrick L.

(3)Enri G.
Great food great servixe, every time I come here they are just great. Small place, not many tables so hard to get a seat if you show up for lunch late.
(5)Yuyan C.
(4)Pepsi T.
Poor service ! No stars Soup bowl was so old it had paint pealing. I will Never return.
(1)Rebeca U.
Me and my bf were walking around the shopping center looking for a bite to eat and we walked into this little gem! Wow, the food was amazing!! Fresh food, immaculate service. It's like the waitresses have a great buddy system. Everyone is very helpful. Definitely would return soon!
(5)Devon B.
I have been coming here for years and had the worst interaction with the wait staff and manager over a very minor issue. Terrible service. Manager is rude.
(1)Dania V.
Delicious! This wasn't our 1st choice but the other place was closed for vacation. A couple outside recommended it & boy were they right. It was one of the most flavorful sushi dishes I've ever had (& I've had plenty). Too bad it's not closer to where we live.
(5)Lorna B.
Very good fresh food. Love this place. People are always friendly. I've been going for years.
(5)Michelle G.
(5)S G.
Been coming here for years, great spot.
(5)Francis M.
Been to dozens of sushi joints in Miami and this is by far the best. Service is top notch and sushi is always fresh. Highly recommend.
(5)Juan M.
I am not sure why this place was so hyped up. The device was nice, but all of the rolls I tried were terrible. They were loose and the topping were put on in a sloppy manner. The small sized made the atmosphere feel cramped.
(2)Julie J.
(5)Richard W.
This is a great find. Mom and Pop style restaurant and service. Food is excellent and serves non commercial Japanese food.
(4)Great Japanese food. They have two branches--I prefer this one. It's smaller and I think the service is better. TOP: Try the brown rice--even with sushi. Their fish is very fresh. I especially like their Chicken Teriyaki. For the best value, go at lunch time and enjoy one of their bento boxes.
