Great barbecue, headline item is the ribs, the hamburger is terrific, the pulled pork is very popular, and I enjoy the wings. Highly recommended, especially if you're out for a ride/drive...enjoy a local favorite.

M & E BBQ proves you don't need a big fancy restaurant to serve up good food, when I did a yelp search on the area I was a little surprise to see a BBQ joint out here in the middle of the piney woods and I was even more surprised when I drove up. It has all the basic requirements, there were about a dozen pickup trucks parked on all sides of this "food trailer" on wheels with a canopy covering a number of picnic tables out front. A walk up window for ordering staffed by some very friendly folks so grab an outside seat and wait for your order to be yelled out. Looking around to see what the locals were eating I got the recommendation to try a sampler, pulled pork smothered in sauce it didn't taste bad but it really didn't appeal to my taste, the ribs on the other hand wow tender, juicy, smoked just enough and seasoned with a simple rub I'm a fan. I knew this guy knew what he was doing when I peeked out back and saw the giant smoker. I didn't care for the slaw but loved the crinkle cut fries bag or no bag they were just out of the fryer and really tasty. I definitely will return they also have fried chicken wings and burgers I'm hoping the burgers are prepared on the smoker as well if this is the case this place makes the list in my opinion. So if you want to try some roadside BBQ where the focus is on the food give them a try.

Great place to eat in a rustic atmosphere. 5 of us bikers drove 45 miles to eat here becouse of word of mouth. Not disappointed! Nice ride great food. Thanks!

I can't give this place a bad review because we ended up driving here but couldn't eat due to the face that most of the menu was pork and we don't eat pork. There is no beef on their menu at all. With that said the people are friendly and others seemed to be enjoying their food. Place is off the side on the road with some tables set up to eat at. Nothing fancy!

My wife and I stopped here for lunch today while driving to Juniper Springs. It's a little local place that operates out of a trailer but has places to park and covered picnic tables. All the meat is cooked on-site with hardwood. We'd never heard of the place, but we saw lots of pickup trucks outside during lunch, always a good sign. The pulled pork sandwich was huge, and I would probably give it three stars -- a bit sweet, and with a more uniform texture than I like. The real crown jewel here is the ribs, which go for nine bucks with two sides and a drink and get five stars by my measure. The rub is mainly coarse-ground pepper, and there's no sauce -- you can add sweet, hot, or mustard sauce to your taste. The texture and flavor were fantastic -- tender and meaty on the thicker parts, and something like peppered beef jerky on the thinner, crispier parts. The sides were good but not standout, and the tea was tasty and not too sweet. Recommended if you're in the area and want some good local Q!
