Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Great food that is always fresh and flavorful. Menu can sometimes be confusing but it has plenty of choices, and the staff is always friendly and helpful so you can make the perfect choice for lunch, dinner, a hearty snack or dessert. Friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere. One particularly stormy day the owner/head chef actually produced an umbrella and walked me to my car. You can eat in or take out. If I had my way, I would eat there everyday! They also do catering which is great for parties or special occasions. Mama's is a gem of a place in this small town.

Nice service - we had a to go order after a long drive and we ordered the chicken parmesan, mozzarella squares, and the lasagna--- the mozzarella bites completely fell apart, the chicken parmesan was really dry and my husbands lasagna was complete mush- just not good at all--would not recommend - I gave the two stars for the nice people behind the counter

We were passing through on our way to Tampa area . I like going down SR#19 to see countryside and small towns along the way. If you are passing through Perry, I'd just suggest you keep going. The only place getting decent reviews was out of business and the gas station where we enquired about it, didn't seem aware of that. Mama's was the only place short of Pouncy's which is clearly a a southern white biker hangout. The food at Mama's was American version of Italian, and not a great interpretation at that. Pasta, marinara sauce and meatballs were just ok. Not fresh or especially well seasoned. What really made me think they don't pay much attention to food is the way the bread was presented. A plastic basket with two pieces of stale, cold bread . I mean stale as in semi-hard and dry and " spit it in your napkin stale". When I told the waitress she said nothing and left it there until I told her to take it away, please! All is not lost if dessert is ok. So all was lost here. Help wasn't too sure what they had and the lemon meringue pie was a mystery to me. It was soggy graham cracker crust with a cream filling and meringue topping that was tasteless for most part, when I don't finish a dessert, the cold day in hell is upon us, so bundle up. As I said before, if you are hungry and in Perry, keep on going.

Our waitress was sweet and helpful. The new item on the menu, smoked salmon breshetta, was INCREDIBLE. I have never had anything like it, it was melt on your mouth delicious. It was enough for a meal. If you appreciate smoked salmon you will love this dish. The seafood fradiavlo was also excellent, with plenty of seafood and spice. Grilled Caesar salade with shrimp and pineapple was good but I would ask for the dressing on the side, too much dressing poured over the grilled lettuce. The atmosphere was pleasant. If you are driving thru Perry I would highly recommend stopping in for a great, reasonably priced meal. YUM

Other than the amazingly friendly staff there was nothing extra special about Mama's. The breadsticks were right out of the oven and delicious. Our dinners were good enough to finish - but we've had better at other Italian restaurants around the country. If you're in the area there is little choice for dinner and so I recommend giving Mama's a shot.

Very nice set up, good service too. Food is not really up to par. I'm a tough critic of Italian food so I stuck to soup and salads. Had the chicken ceasar and the chicken was undercooked. Tried the italian salad with chicken (this time ask for the chicken well done), and it was good. There wasn't too much salad though and for that price you can definitely get a better meal in the area. Had the tomato soup and thought it was pretty bad. Can't speak for the other items but the stuff I had were disappointing.

Well, if you avoid getting confused by the word Italian, you won't be disappointed. The food is an American interpretation of Italian.... It is cooked fresh, tasty and hot! The staff were great. The strange thing is that the house salad was very poor and this could easily be improved with less 'sad' iceberg lettuce and no awful canned olives---more fresh veggies would work. I avoided the typical, lousy American salad dressings and asked for, and was give fresh lemon and EVOO, which brought the salad to life. This area of Florida is pretty desperate, and many of it's super religious inhabitants carry the evidence of terrible local cuisine in their enormous girths. Mama's is an oasis where being careful you can get a good, healthy meal. Five stars, considering it's context and staff that made me feel at home.

This is probably one of four restaurants in the area. Given that my other alternatives were Golden Corral and McDonalds, I will take Mama's any day. The staff was incredibly nice, so that is the reason I give this place 3 stars. I ordered the crab cakes, balsamic chicken salad and a slice of cheesecake for dessert. Before you judge me on how much food this is, it was in pretty decent proportions and I didn't eat all of it....well, except for the crab cakes. I had my first-ever crab cakes in Maryland, so my expectations were quite high. The crabcakes at Mama's, while tasty, were flat and burnt on the outside... kind of like when you leave a pancake on the griddle for a tad bit too long. The sauce that accompanied the dish was excellent, just as the staff had suggested. The salad was... meh. Maybe it was the dressing, but there was some sweet tang to the dish that I just couldn't get over. Needless to say, I picked out the tomatoes and some of the broccoli pieces and was done with it. The saving grace was the cheesecake. I have no idea if they make it fresh there, but it was good. The graham crust was perfect and the consistency was excellent. If not for this, I would be giving this place 2 stars.
