Came in here on vacation - mainly because it was the closest place open. Service was fast and friendly - food decent enough. Salsa was very good. Price point was good as well. For an inexpensive meal it was well worth it.

Well I have only been here once, and I have nothing bad to say. The chips and salsa are great. The service couldn't have been faster. And my chicken quesadilla tasted amazing. The price was under $8. Not sure why some people had issues here. I'll come back for sure.

Great place to get some good Mexican food here in Pensacola. They treat you like family from the second you walk in the door. I highly recommend it

Normally I'd give this establishment 3 stars but given the context that its located in Pensacola I'd say they deserve 4 stars as they're certainly much better than any other mexican style food I've had here. They have a pretty solid menu that anyone should be able to find something enjoyable to order. Don't expect to be wowed but you should be in good hands here.

Once a year, I go to Vallarta and swear I will never go again. Tonight was the annual ritual of terrible Mexican food and inflated prices. My only hope is that next year, I will login to Yelp and see this review as a reminder to eat anything, even Burger King, rather than experience horrific Mexican food. I love Mexican food. I do not like Vallarta. In fact, I would be overjoyed if the restaurant chain closed down forever and next year, Triggers was back in its old spot on the Perdido Key island. When I got back in my car after dinner, my wife asked if Yelp allowed half stars. I would prefer negative stars for this local chain. The salsa is the best part of the meal. Everything else is sub-standard. Tonight, after flying in from work to Pensacola Regional, we passed a Mexican dive in a shopping center that was reminiscent of a cross between a pool hall and a bowling alley. We decided for some very silly reason to not eat at the mystery option and instead go to Vallartas. Bad mistake. First up: cheese dip. I used to think there was no way to make bad cheese dip, but this place does it. Well done. Next up: cheese quesadilla and rice for the kids. They brought a chicken quesadilla. We asked for two spoons for our young kids. Those serving utensils took far too long to arrive. But guess what did? A swarm of ladybugs that clung to my wife's jacket the first half of the meal. Also making an appearance tonight was an incredibly leaky urinal that flooded a part of the bathroom. The leak was also in the women's restroom so the plumbing problems must be contagious. My wife's meal: beef flautas. These had to be frozen on arrival and dropped in the vat of oil to fry. Very non-delicious. My wife could not bite through it because of the tough meat. She tried to use a knife, but the knife was not sharp enough to do any damage to the rubbery meat. USDA Prime, I think not. My meal: the Burrito Vallartas, which was to contain several ingredients that did not come within the burrito. Instead, it contained 65% onions, 25% refried beans and 10% chicken. Very onion-y. At least the kitchen was nice enough to put about 2 tablespoons of sauce on the top of the footlong burrito. Worst burrito I have been served in 35 and 1/2 years of being alive. The service was nonexistent. Drinks remained empty. Server was never to be found. My wife, when scouring for spoons for the kids' rice, made a circular walk around the entire restaurant, stopping near servers on several occasions and looking at them. The "help" would simply stare into space, perhaps daydreaming of a job in a restaurant that serves edible food. Every year, it's the same thing. Yet after trying this "new"er location I passed the island location and it was overflow parking. I can only assume people go for the bar scene. 1 star (and that's because negative stars were not an option).

Being stationed in San Diego killed mexican food for me. Nothing compares unless you're close to the border. First, their "California burrito" doesn't even have fries... Second their "guacamole" is a watery paste that we didn't finish. No salt no lime no cilantro no nothing. I'd be embarrassed to serve that... Third their margaritas are a glowing neon green... Fourth their beans taste like metal cans... Fifth their rice is.... Bleh. Sixth the ground beef tastes better at Taco Bell..... Seriously. They did have ok salsa however and their coronas are real!

My kids love this place. The wait staff is very friendly and the service is great. This is the best Mexican restaurant that I have been to in Pensacola. Prices are also very reasonable.

This is the closest to California style Mexican food as it gets. Not everything makes the cut but I am simple so my favorites by far is the Tacos de Carne Asada, Pork Carnitas, which threw me at first since Carnitas is braised pork so this dish is Pork Pork but whats normal to me isn't always normal to others. Anyway, beans and rice are a heck of a lot better than other places not home, but still good. I usually base my opinion of Mexican restaurants on the ability to cook these two simple dishes, if a restaurant can mess up on the two most standard sides then they will not get anything else right. My husband likes the California burrito. It was a lot bigger than he expected and the price was more than reasonable. He especially likes the red sauce that they add. I can't begin to describe how awesome the staff is either. We have never waited too long for a table (even during happy hour) and they constantly check on us. The place is a bit small so maneuvering through is sometimes crowded when they're busy. The noise level is whats expected for the amount of business it receives. I recommend this place to Californians like myself who want the closest thing to amazing Taco trucks that you can get.

Best Mexican place I've eaten at in West Pensacola. There salsa and chips are to die for. Nice, spicy and tangy is the salsa! I've been here thrice and have enjoyed the food as well as their awesome margaritas. The margaritas are potent and cheap. Please drink responsibly, don't drink and drive. Waiters are nice and very Hispanic. They greet you in Spanish which is awesome! Great place to eat in west Pensacola. Environment is typical of a mexican restaurant. Maybe there will be a mariachi band for Cinco De Mayo? Hmm....we shall see!

Probably the worst dining experience I have ever had. I asked if avocado came with the vegetarian dish that I ordered, and the waiter told me it does not, I said, "Good, because I am allergic to avocado". Some time went by. and everyone at our table had their food, but my did not come. Finally, I had to remind the waiter to bring me my plate, because he completely forgot. When my plate arrived, there was a nice dollop of guacamole on top of my food. Listening skills? I thought this dish didn't come with avocado? They took my plate back to the kitchen, and removed the avocado instead of making a whole new dish (because I am THAT allergic to it). Soon after, I realized that my vegetarian dish (it is specifically labeled as vegetarian on the menu) had chicken in it. On top of all that, there was avocado contamination in my food, and my lips and tongue began tingling, and my body became itchy. Ruined my entire night. My allergic reaction would probably speak to the fact that they don't use clean utensils every time they handle a new plate, which is just unsanitary. Like I said, that was the worst dining experience I have ever had. I will not be returning.

The food was really tasty! Didn't care for the salsa. They had my food out minutes after ordering it, very fast! Staff was very nice and the place was clean. I will go back for more that's for sure!

Great Mexican food if you're drunk, sunburned, and from the Midwest. Standard P'Cola fair: "chicken" fajitas appeared to be boiled in a bag then dropped on the floor before being slathered in black pepper and onions. My wife took one bite and almost barfed into her napkin. The chips and salsa were good but can you really mess that up? Staff was friendly but I'm convinced their Canadians with fake mustaches and accents because this crap isn't Mexican food! FYI: if you go to a Mexican restaurant in a military town and there are no cars with Texas, Arizona, or California plates, just go to Taco Bell!

Worst treatment ever!!! Do they really call and serve that red stuff salsa? I have tried this place three times now because people keep telling me how great it is, I guess, these people have never had Mexican food before good or bad. Hard to believe that there are three of these restaurants. Well, I have tried them three times.

No star. I been sick from this place twice. If you want great Mexican food go to the one at the beach on Perdido Key.100% better and great owners and staff. This place right here is not good place to eat .The only reason I went twice, was I was giving them the benefit of doubt.2nd time I got sick, just confirmed that it is this place.Never again for me.I go to the one in Perdido. They got their stuff together..

I love this place! As others have mentioned, Thursday is margarita special day, and they don't serve wimpy drinks! Even the small margarita packs a wallop! The salsa and cheese dip are delicious. I have not eaten anything here that I have not enjoyed. The portions are large. The service is quick and friendly. This is one of my Top 5 restaurant destinations in Pensacola! I you want to watch Navy boys get drunk, Thursday night is the time to go! It's quite entertaining!

The food was pretty good but the atmosphere is awful here. Full of jerk off flight students and A & C school kids. And dependapotumouses. I like the food but I will not be back to this location.

Found this place randomly when going out the back gate to go to Target and found a pretty decent place to get some mexican food. It's not even close to the best I've had, but its pretty good and there are definitely some gems on the menu like the fajita burrito! The service is what you'd expect, chips right off the bat, and food pretty quick as well as it is usually pretty dead during the week so its a good place to get in and out fast on a random wednesday. If you live in the area this place is definitely worth a shot!

Every time we visit pensacola we go to this restaurant. It is the best of all the locations, the food is terrific, and the margaritas are wonderful. It is a clean, neat restaurant with great waiters and is ideal for families. We have eaten at Mexican restaurants from California to the east coast and this is one of our favorite restaurants. We have never had an issue with anything, and the wait staff is very accommodating. Can't wait to return!

Excellent service and value. We devoured the chips and salsa and they gave us more in a blink. The food was really fresh and hit the spot. I love the friendly staff!

Dropped in to this location because it's right next to my new house, and it happened to be a Thursday... their Margarita special price all-day was awesome! A small Margarita is only $1.50 all day... and the price goes up to $8.50 all day for a Monster (64 oz!!!!) Margarita. You can't beat that price!!!! They have different specials all day every day, and all seemed like a great deal - the staff was super friendly, and the food was good (not great, but good enough that I'd eat there again, especially for their great prices!!!) The only thing I wouldn't recommend is their guacamole... NOT good. I definitely will be making this place part of my regular rotation of restaurants.

This Vallartas Location is by far, the best of all of the locations. The staff is very friendly. Thursday is a great night to go since they have their margarita special that night and their margaritas are spot on. Make sure you have a DD if you plan on drinking one, however. ;)

Yummy Mexican food! This is a traditional tex-mex type of place, and I LOVE their salsa! The enchiladas are very traditional, so I enjoy getting those when we go.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
