Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

EXCELLENT!! Service and food was incredible! Enjoyed dinner with the family. The atmosphere is dress casual the noise level was not very loud. We will definitely dine here again when we are back in town.

I visited this establishment on Black Friday. We had reservations for 7 people at 6pm. We arrived a few minutes early and were greeted quickly by the hostess and promptly seated. The atmosphere is wonderful. The waitress came quickly to the table to welcome us and take our drink order. Drinks came out in a very timely manner. We then ordered bruschetta and tuna, both were delicious! Wether moved right along to the entrées. The Diavolo is spicy but in a very good way!! The chicken alfredo was very rich and the chicken was lightly crusted, by far one of my favorite dishes here. The lobster stuffed shells were amazing also. For desert the limoncello cake isn't far the best desert here. I would highly highly recommend this restaurant. Great food and great service!

Made a reservation for four people on a Saturday evening... Excellent service - the waiter was very attentive and helpful with regard to giving recommendations from the menu; he was informative in terms of telling us about the day's special items. He checked in with us from time to time, and didn't rush. In addition, he brought me a sample of the marsala sauce to taste prior to ordering - how nice of him! The food... We ordered bruschetta = YUM! My sister-in-law ordered the Caesar Salad, and she said it was good. The Fettuccini Alfredo was actually very tasty - the consistency of the sauce was adequate and creamy = perfect! The Parmigiana pasta wasn't bad. My cousin ordered a meat entree (I believe chicken?), and he was very pleased with it. And for dessert... A number of choices! I got the SALTED CARAMEL CHEESECAKE = delicious! Pretty generous serving. My dinner companions conveyed their tiramisu and cannolis (the latter a special for the day) were delectable as well; I didn't try either of these as I was wishing to finish most of my cheesecake! Also, I had two glasses of their Moscato wine = a.k.a. my fave wine :) Nice, lively atmosphere. Somewhat classy. I'm very pleased to know of this restaurant's existence in Downtown Pensacola. I aim to return!

Such a beautiful restaurant, I must be in a dream, this isn't Pensacola, this place has class. However, there are some things I would definitely point out to them, as I feel it's five stars in ambiance, service certainly isn't an issue. Eddie was my bartender/ server and there was no issues there. The menu looked fantastic; however, Eddie recommend the Veal Chop. Now it couldn't have been a prettier picture and it wasn't bad, it just was under seasoned. They may have a fear of over salting, but little salt does no good for veal. So I would say that the food was alright with room for improvement. While talking to the gentleman next to me he provided a similar evaluation of his carbonara, by saying "it's ok". My feeling is V. Paul's has small opening issues and hopefully they can tweet out their problems.

An average Italian restaurant that wants to be more than what it is. Atmosphere is acceptable, but nothing about it screams "Italian" -- it's rather a trendy vibe. The appetizers are creative and tasty, but the main course left me wondering if in fact professional chefs created the menu. Main course dishes are boring, lack imagination, and taste only ok. For the price, I expected more. Service is acceptable - the server was nice and personable, but when an issue arose, he seemed like he's never done this before. I waited about 10 minutes for a table, and the bartender offered us food, but was unable to answer any questions I had about the menu. Understandable for a new restaurant. Overall, this place is more about the pizazz and appearance and less about the food. It might impress a "newbie foodie" or relatives from out of town who don't eat out much.

Good authentic Italian food. I've been here twice and not times were excellent. I'll definitely be back.

I was excited to try this restaurant as I love good Italian food. We came at 6:30 on a Thursday (non gallery night). Maybe 6 tables full at the time we arrived. Our server was Jonathan. As soon as I sat down the person I was meeting said " it's not starting off well, our server is a little slow" That was an understatement! It took 9 mins for me to receive a sweet tea! Again, 6 tables are full at this time. After that we waited again for drinks three more times. Ridiculous for being a slow night. We ordered the mussels which were amazing! I highly recommend them. Then I had the Caesar salad. The salad was good I don't know that I would have to have it if I went back. We then ordered the shrimp scampi which was lite and amazing. I highly recommend it as well. I personally ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. It was very good but very heavy so if you're looking for something lighter and I would recommend the shrimp scampi. Bottom line, the food is very good and I would return. However, I would not have Jonathan as my server unfortunately. Would have been a 4 1/2 star rating however with bad service its's going to receive 3 stars. To me, service can make or break a meal and that was true in this case tonight.

You won't be disappointed. The food is very good. I had the chicken piccata and wife had the carbonara. This a great place for a date or romantic dinner. Everything was prepared well.

First Italian restaurant I've tried out here since moving from Los Angeles. Ambiance was great & service also great. My husbands dish was good he had the Chicken Parmigiana & I had the Salsiccia Fra Diavolo as much as I wanted to love it I couldn't get pass how rich it was the Gorgonzola was to strong & over powered the dish. I still want to come back to try other dishes as my sister in law & husband liked theirs. I am hoping to see some Ghocchi dish with no duck & some Lobster Ravioli.

We have a "always" experience at VPauls. A wonderful vibrant atmosphere with a beautiful view of palafox! The food was excellent and the portion was ample! I can not wait to come again!! Wonderful job, and thank you for blessing pensacola... Mr. Paul!

I am brand new to the area (from Tampa originaly). Boy oh boy, this place is the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to. They bring a dip of olive oil, balsamic vinegar drizzle, actual olives, and some kind of garlic to the table along with freshly baked bread. Awesome. I had the fettuccine alfredo with spinach and mushrooms. I can honestly say it was the best pasta I have ever had, period. Will definitely be back to this nice date restaurant.

Just don't go if you like REAL Italian food. The appetizer was Ok-cheeses and meats. I ordered Veal Chop-overcooked, over spiced, vegetables overcooked, mushrooms burnt. The hubby ordered veal Parmesan-tender enough, but the spices were all wrong, some flavor in there that just didn't belong. I came home tasting nothing but burnt garlic. The atmospere is nice, but not worth the attempt. Someone in the kitchen needs to take a refresher course by traveling up north-you can find better food at some roadside stands.

Alton--you have spoiled us! What a great server. Completely genuine, friendly, probably one of the best servers we've ever had {you will do wonders in the business world, my friend :)} Give the man a raise or something! Appetizers: The Bruschetta Trio was not a favorite, however that tuna though. Order 3 plates to go around! I had the filet. It was perfectly cooked the way I wanted. My husband had the diavolo pasta and the sausage in that was amazing! The executive chef, Tricia, is phenomenal!!! Sweet and so talented! Other members of our church had the New York Steak, pasta, tuna, etc and the crown on top of all this delicious food was their Salted Caramel Chocolate Cheesecake---- WOW!!! This place is worth the many visits, from the ambiance to the waitstaff and the food!

Beautiful restaurant! A nice place for a couple to go on a date night during the summer. We timed it perfectly and had ringside seats to a downtown parade. Beware and expect a crowd if you go on Gallery night. The service was nothing short of perfection. I had the Fettuccini and my wife had Chicken Parmigiana which was outstanding! V Paul's was very clean and relaxing. The management and entire staff were warm and inviting. The price per person is a bit spendy but the atmosphere and service dictate a higher price scale.

Excellent overall experience. Hosting and server service were superb. Food chemistry was quite good, and the servings were tasty and well-proportioned. One exception - the otherwise excellent chicken marsala was a small-medium cutlet. A larger cutlet or 2 small-medium cutlet would have been the perfect portion. Encrusted tuna was top-notch; bruschetta was uniquely flavorful; house salad good. Highly recommended - ask for a window seat if you can get one.

Went here with a group of friends on a Saturday night. The place was packed, but the service was still great. We ordered the bruschetta and the meat and cheese tray for apps. They were both very good. They also give you bread with oil and balsamic vinegar, olives, and a cheese spread. All very delicious. Everyone liked their food. We ordered Alfredo with shrimp ( sauce was wonderful, but a little heavy; although it's cream so it's to be expected), chicken Marsala ( great Marsala sauce and chicken was cooked perfectly with a side of mashed potatoes and spinach; this was everyone's favorite), swordfish Angelina ( swordfish steak with risotto; risotto was yummy, but I thought the fish lacked flavor), pasta primavera with shrimp and mussels ( this was very light and missing some flavor; I didn't care for it very much) and finally lasagna ( I didn't try this, but my friend said it was just ok.) We also got dessert. It was all very good and a great dining experience for Pensacola.

Waitress was very helpful and the food was amazing. Get the fettuccine Alfredo, the sauce is amazing. Also, the sausage and lentil soup is delicious. Get a bowl instead of a cup.

The food was great!! I had the salsiccia fra diavolo and it was amazing, I highly recommended. The dish has siracha do I need to say more.. Everything tastes better with siracha!!Service was just ok when we went there. We don't have any other good Italian restaurant in Pensacola so for now this one is my favorite Italian.

Went on Gallery Night. The kitchen must have been "Rockin and Rollin" with the full house crowd! Even with the max capacity, the food arrived in reasonable time, and was well prepared. Service was excellent and even V. Paul dropped by the table to say hello. I agree with other reviewers that the ambiance is somewhat bland and sterile. I will return, probably on a slow weeknight to test the "other end of the spectrum". But so far Mr. Paul - keep up the good work - I am glad to see fine dining downtown.

First time visit, and we were not disappointed! Exceeded our expectations, very reasonable prices for exceptional food and service. Will be on our list of "favorites " Cesar salad was best in pensacola, chicken marsala was delicious! Our waitress was very attentive to our needs. 5 stars

We went to V Paul's with a group of twelve. Everything about the experience was positive from the atmosphere to the service to the food itself. We had a delicious salmon over risotto dish which was as good as I've ever eaten. Others in our group felt the same about their various dishes. The service was perfect, attentive without being intrusive. Separate checks for a large party can be a challenge for some but our rather complicated situation was handled with aplomb. We hadn't been back to Pensacola in many years. It's nice to see such a truly fine restaurant is now in town!

The first time was enough not to go back. The food is very mediocre and the sauce taste like it was out of a can. I don't know why, but I expect them to try harder than that.

We, a party of four, stopped at V Paul's on Gallery Night. Our server, Jonathan, was a trooper. One of our party was a bit indecisive, and he could not have been more gracious about it. We ordered the bruschetta and the meat and cheese tray for apps and both were very nicely done. Also ordered the mussels which were a bit on the salty side. I am a salt-a-holic and if something is salty to me, it is really salty. When we mentioned it to Jonathan, he did not act like it was our problem and made up for it with a complementary salted caramel cheesecake which was a really grown-up dessert and quite wonderful. I hope to visit V Paul's again soon, as it was a nice treat.

V Paul's is a great experience to Palafox, bringing a modern, yet classical experience to an already great downtown. For my first time dining here, upon walking through the doors you can immediately tell the atmosphere is welcoming and balanced. Service was immediate and fantastic throughout dinner. We ordered two different pasta dishes that were served in healthy portions with fresh locally caught Gulf shrimp. Any restaurant that goes above and beyond to seek out and source fresh seafood and ingredients is always a winner in my book. The flavor was full, the portions great and dining experience fabulous. I highly recommend V Paul's for your choice for Italian cuisine in Pensacola. You won't regret it.

The Good: Nice decor, very modern. Friendly hostess (remembered to wish us a happy anniversary), friendly and personable waiter. Did not feel rushed and drinks were served quickly. The Bad: For the prices the food is pretty mediocre. Although my wife liked that the eggplant in her eggplant parm was fresh, the sauce tasted like it was out of a can and not seasoned. It was also served on a bed of spaghetti??? The Parmesan cheese was not freshly grated, it looked like it came out of a can. My daughters fettuccine alfredo was decent, but to add spinach, mushrooms and shrimp was an additional $12. She received 4 large shrimp and minimal spinach and mushrooms. I ordered the scallops ($28). The description was that is came with cauliflower risotto, walnut relish, and grilled green onions. What was put in front of me was 4 medium sized scallops that were not cooked through, sprinkled with crushed walnuts (walnut relish, really?) on a bed of cauliflower risotto (best part about the dish), and the onions were just there for decoration, not edible. There was also a drizzle of a balsamic reduction (not mentioned on the menu) that was quite sweet. I would not have ordered that dish if I would have known about the balsamic reduction. I sent it back to have the scallops cooked. The Ugly: My daughter became ill while we were there (she had gone to the restroom right before the food was served). We decided to get our dinner wrapped up to take home since she was sick. I told the waiter that I didn't want the scallops (I had taken one small bite) and to just box up the other two entrees. When he brought me the check the scallops had not been removed. I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he had forgotten. When I brought this to his attention he told me his manager would not remove from check. He gave me the impression that this is a regular occurrence. Is the food that bad and they are losing a lot of money for rejected entrees? That is my conclusion. In the end the scallops were removed (without so much of an apology from the manager for the poor experience) and we left with plans to never again visit V.Pauls. Conclusion: Great decor, friendly staff, poor management, mediocre food, poor quality for the cost. V. Pauls management needs to realize that a great looking restaurant doesn't make the food taste any better.
