The food is exceptional, quick, affordable, and this TJ Flats has great service. Everyone is really polite, helpful, and attentive. You can tell their training is good and it does seem like they all work really well as one team all helping at the same time. Even small things like coming out from behind the register to tell the next customer to that they are ready to take their order down the counter is appreciative and noticeable. It's better than yelling "next customer!" every minute on a busy Friday night. Even though this is an order-at-the-counter place, they call your name and they deliver the food. No getting up after you order (unless you want more sauce from their hot sauce bar - free). For those that have never been to a Tijuana Flats, give this one a try. I doubt you'll be disappointed. And if something misses the mark, if you tell the staff, they will correct it and make you happy. It's definitely a service-oriented restaurant (with good food as a bonus).

Good food but great service. This place is a little different with the upbeat music and friendly atmosphere. I had a steak burrito, carnitas taco rice and beans for just under $14. I'm sure I could have gotten better cheaper, but you really can't go wrong here...enjoy

This is one chain that needs to expand west as there are none west of Pensacola, Florida. This is Tex-mex at its best! This time I had a carnitas chimachanga. Burrito was perfectly fried and filled with cheese and meat. The carnitas were marinated and was like eating roast. All the other topping were on top of the chimachanga and was loaded with sour cream, lettuce, and Pico de galo. You have the option of making any burrito, chimachanga, or enchilada wet with a red tangy Chipotle sauce, queso, salsa, or verde. I also had a secret menu item which I cannot share except by pic and mention that it was really ok. But I have had the Tijuana Trio several times that comes with queso, salsa, and guacamole...all are quite good. Three other intangibles add to the experience of Tijuana Flats. Customer service is always friendly and upbeat. The place is a total dive and decorated with a whole lot of random objects. Last of all, there is the hot bar that has 10-15 total hot sauces to add flavor or just plain heat to your food. Tijuana Flats is one of the best Tex-mex restaurants and chains out there. Very good and very affordable and unique.

My husband & I had burritos they were ok. What is missing was authentic salsa. I'm from Los Angeles and Mexican food here is different.

Great service, good Tex-Mex. Portions are very large, so we left very stuffed. Love the hot sauces bar option. Prices were good. I was stuck between a 3 and 4 because the service was so great, but I've had better Tex-Mex.

I do still love this place however the last two times I have eaten here there has been a piece of plastic in my food. I did tell them about it just so it doesn't happen to someone else. Sorry but I probably won't come back. Js.

Good food. Good people. Good food specials. All in all I'd say it's good. Try it for lunch or dinner. It does get very busy on taco Tuesday. If you visit at that time go early or you might just have to wait a bit.

I've often wondered what Tijuana Flat's secret is. How can they get their staff to be so upbeat, friendly, courteous and welcoming to every customer. I visited this location two nights in a row while on vacation in Pensacola and by the end of my second visit I felt like I'd been a regular for years. They knew me by first name and showed why Tijuana has stolen many customers from Moe's and other competitors. The service here is excellent. Fortunately, the food is pretty good, too. In fact, have you seen the kids quesadilla? It's enough for three kids! I normally opt for the blackened chicken burrito on wheat tortilla, but recently we ordered a No-ritto which was darn good too. Most importantly, you can rest assured the food is better than your Taco Bell, Moe's and any of the other similar chains found locally. This is a great place to come for lunch or dinner. Wonderful value, large portions, good food and service, which is rare now-a-days.

This place has really good mexican food!! I had the no ritto bowl and its basically a burrito without the tortilla. And they have a great hot sauce bar. I wasn't disappointed. Being from California my mexican food expectations are pretty high. Food was amazing and not bad priced, and the beer is cheap too!! $3 bottles and domestic drafts. Cant go wrong there. Great experience with the staff as well. They are very attentive. I will be back!

Great authentic tex mex and some outstanding guacamole. You can't go wrong with whatever you order. Its a funky cool place with some of the best staff in the business. The customer service level is just Unreal --blows Moes out of the water
Terrible. I got a chicken burrito that I was told was on sale for 5.59. It costed me about $9 because I added $0.99 queso, you do the math. I asked for light jalepenos, and I couldn't taste anything because my mouth was on fire until I opened the burrito and scraped all the fire jalepeno slices from it (and I'm from New Orleans and can handle lots of heat). The burrito was not good. The only thing I enjoyed was the queso, which they literally gave me 10 chips to enjoy with. Just an overall terrible experience, from the price to the quality of the food. Thumbs down!

Walked out of 2 restaurants before landing here. This should have been our first stop! Service is always top notch with a smile. Sorry I tried to cheat on you TFlats please forgive me :)

I got the chicken quesadilla on a whole wheat tortilla. The portion size was just right. I wished they offered their hot sauce. I think the taste would of the hot sauce on the quesadilla would have helped a little

I write this review with Chipotle as the benchmark for fast and fresh Mexican on the go while on the road. Tijuana Flats provides great atmosphere with a fun looking menu, but I found the food to fall flat. The three stars is more for the extras from ambience and menu and the food get a 2 star. I had the Carnitas burrito. The oversized flour tortilla was dry and almost stale tasting with most of the tortilla rolled over itself as there was very little carnitas to speak of and what little there was was nearly tasteless. The beans and rice on the plate were fresh and tasted well prepared. For the price the meal was extremely lacking. Wish I had gone to Moe's instead. I cannot imagine Tijuana Flats making it long. This will be a one time visit.

We were really disappointed . My wife and I both had burritos and I ate over half of mine before I found any meat . Hers was extra loaded with bell peppers to the point she took most of them off and had a big pile of them on her plate . I usually don't leave bad feedback but this place makes Taco Bell look good and it's very overpriced .

This is one of my wife and my favorite restaurants. The food is great, the employees are always friendly, and the music is always jammin. Their specials are always worth trying, as they are all really good, though you can't go wrong with a burrito or tacos. My wife is partial to the flautas, and my favorite is the special "steak and cheesy", a Philly cheesesteak burrito. Probably the beat part about this place is the people. I have never seen more friendly employees anywhere. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Really tasty burritos, generous in size and since I swore off eating at Taco Bell ever again, this suits my Mexican cravings. The staff is super friendly and they sure do know how to give you free drink refills(if you've ever eaten inside you'll know what I mean)..You people who gave it less that 3 stars really amuse me. It's Tijuana Flats, not a Rick Bayless restaurant, get over yourselves.

I'm from California, where Mexican food actually has flavor - if you've lived somewhere that really has authentic Mexican food, avoid this place you will be severely dissapointed. This is a typical Americanized fast food Mexican joint that tries to put being hip and cool over the taste and quality of their food. I've microwaved better beans, and had better instant rice. Tacos are plain and lack any flavor, chimichanga has the texture of a burrito entirely lacking the golden flaky and crisp shell; likely the difference to them is just pouring sauce on top of a burrito. Worst of all is their "hot bar." I don't know how you pick 20 sauces and not one of them is good... most taste odd or just like tomato paste & vinegar. I got through 3/4 of the hot bar from hottest to somewhere in the weak sauce section only to realize that not a single one had any real flavor or spice. The hottest sauces were just vinegar with maybe some random pepper extract. This might be a harsh review, but it needs to be taken down from 4 stars. I was suckered into going there not once but twice because of friends only.

This food is more similar to Taco Bell than the popular so-cal chain chipotle. The food is alright if you aren't looking for authentic Mexican. The only plus was the hot sauce choices. I used both of the hottest sauces available. It's hard to find good spicy sauce in these parts. I use tapatio religiously at home.

It seems like everyone really enjoys this place according to the reviews. Did I get the wrong thing or something? I order a steak burrito and I felt like the inside was just mush after we got it home and ate. We love Tijuana Flats. The tacos are huge and stuffed with meat and toppings. They offer several different types of meat, from chicken to beef and beans. You can choose what toppings you get, and if you want beans and rice with your meal. Let's be honest, the best part about Tijuana Flats is the sauce bar. I usually stick to the straight smily face sauces, but I'm trying to move up to the next level. I can't even imagine the ones on the end. They'll melt your face.
(4)

I'm a huge chipotle fan and this place got my attention. Don't get me wrong it's not like Chipotle really at all but it is "fast" mexican food. The tostada is delicious but really is nachos and not tostadas. The flautas are some of the most amazing little rolled up tortillas I have ever tasted. My husband had a burrito and it was according to him "not good". I also enjoy the chicken salad there. Very good romaine lettuce and nice chicken and seemingly "healthy".

Pensacola has a lot of Mexican Restaurants. All of their food taste like it came out of a can because it probably did; however, Tijuana Flats is extremely fresh and made to order. While it is not an old school Los Angeles or Southern California place, the menu works well. We have been numerous times and yet to be disappointed. The staff is as friendly as a 4 Star restaurant. Excellent Food, Excellent Price, great value for the peso!

There aren't many good Mexican restaurants in the Pensacola, FL area, but this one does fill a niche in the Mexican theme. It is a fast version of "not full on Mexican" food, but not "fast-food" either. Think college, frat lifestyle Mexican food & atmosphere and that should give you an idea. You walk up and order your food after which you can be seated and they bring it out to you. I have not been disappointed. The Taco Tuesdays (Two tacos, chips, & a drink for $4.99) are very good and I get back for them as often as I can. I usually have a beef burrito and I enjoy it very much. It is not a burrito with the marinated, shredded beef that I prefer and love but very surprisingly, even though the beef burrito is only made with ground beef, they managed to season it well enough that I am still satisfied and am able to overlook that aspect. The menu is such that you can have your food/entree anyway that you want. You can add sauce, melted cheese, sour cream, go low fat, low-carb, have everything that comes on the item, or just the items you want. You get to customize your food. You can get your food spicy or on the mild side. If you like a spicy entree, you will be able to find it here as jalapenos are one of the ingredients that come with, or rather in, an entree unless you request otherwise. They have many varieties of hot sauces available as well. There must be around 30 varieties. The staff there has been very friendly and attentive.

Last night my family of 4 ate here. We usually love this place and go often. Food was prepared as ordered and tasted great. My daughter ordered steak quesadillas and there was very little steak on it. Service was good as it always is. But when we got home later that night we were all on the toilet. I pride myself in being able to eat anything with no negative effects. Not last night!!! Felt like I had been kicked in the side I was in soo much pain. Those of us who had the jalapeños on our meal were the worst off. I eat jalapeños all the time without problems. Not sure if we will ever go back here.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I pride myself in being able to eat anything with no negative effects. Not last night!!! Felt like I had been kicked in the side I was in soo much pain. Those of us who had the jalapeños on our meal were the worst off. I eat jalapeños all the time without problems. Not sure if we will ever go back here.
