We sat at the bar as we were early for our reservation. The mixologists were polite, professional, shook our hands and asked our names - and then addressed us by our names when asking us questions and serving our drinks. Once our table was ready, the device was impeccable. The server knew each and every item and how to accommodate my gluten allergy. She gave excellent wine suggestions for my meal. Our favorite thing of the night though, was the menu. My husband booked the reservation online and you can include a special note. He wrote "Four Year Anniversary Dinner." When we were seated at our table, a personalized menu had been printed for us and placed on the table. It said "Happy Four Year Anniversary Mr and Mrs Duncan!" At the top of the page.

Food was excellent. The bartender is a REAL bartender. Makes all recipes the classic way and with a city twist. If anything, come here fire the bartender. The only problem I have with the restaurant is the chef's table and kitchen dynamic. Our party sat at the chef's table and never caught a greeting or glance from the kitchen staff. Even the chef who stood inches away never took the time to check in or say hello. If you have an open kitchen you should understand that you are part of the show and always on stage. Treat every guest as a visitor into your home.

Flank Steak was amazing.....I had to start by saying that because it was absolutely delicious...We made reservations for Saturday night due to us having the whole family with us. We got there about 15 minutes early and everything was all set for us. The servers here were so friendly and attentive. Everything that was recommended was great. Drinks were also good but not great. Overall I give it five stars for being a big party everything ran smooth and to my suprised everything was brought out in order. Nobody had complaints on the food. Our table was quiet once the food started coming out...you know what that means..especially when the kids are even quiet!## Great place. ..just a little pricy!!!

Lovely evening at table 3. Our server, Patrick was knowledgeable and engaging. Wife raved about the escargot and I yummed the fried oysters for a starter. Grouper Gorjonettes are a seafood delight. Wife had Cobia but should have ordered the full plate. Angel food cake with strawberries and sorbet topped the selections. Top shelf dining!

Thank you food God/Goddess! The new location is perfect. Our dinner last night was flawless. Oysters, escargot, salmon, lamb shank everything to perfection. Can't wait to try their tasting menu. Reminds me of some of our fav chic Chicago, New York, Paris restaurants! A most welcome addition to downtown Pensacola! Very professional staff as well as friendly. Thank you Alex!

After trying to find a good restaurant in Pensacola over and over again, we finally found one! My boyfriend took me here for my birthday dinner, and it was wonderful. The only downside is the restaurant is about 10 miles outside of Pensacola on a golf course. The menu is very short and changes all the time (as the chef gets inspired/the seasons change). I had the red snapper seared with Woodford Reserve over some sort of sweetly sautéed carrots and my boyfriend had chicken and dumplings (by far the best chicken I've ever tried). We also ordered Old Fashions to start -- they were okay (can't say they tasted like an Old Fashioned). The restaurant was quite pricey -- between $27-35 a plate but definitely worth it for a special occasion!

Hands down favorite fine dining eats in town. Stellar food, service and atmosphere. A great representation of what downtown Pensacola is becoming! Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and check it out. You won't be disappointed.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary on Tuesday. The atmosphere is really good, the smoked old fashion was superb; same with the cheese plate started and the soup. I was disappointed with my main though. i asked the waiter which I should get the redfish or the rabbit as I'd never had rabbit before. He assured me it wasn't gamey and was really light. then added: "That way when you tell people you came to IRON, you can tell them you had rabbit!" Well it was so salty it was nearly inedible, he never checked back to see if I liked it. : ~ /

The food was inspired perfection. Service was impeccable, yet fun. The atmosphere manages to achieve hip and classy, romantic and social, and is overall, on point for upscale, downtown dining. The chef and management team truly understand fine dining and they do it right. A truly indulgent experience, but accessible and filled with southern gourmet charm.

I've been here a few times and each time they ran out of something from the menu. Last night I was really disappointed because they ran out of 3 of the 9 entrees on the menu and a desert! It was my anniversary and the reason we chose this restaurant was for 2 of the entrees that they ran out of. If you see something you really want on the online menu, don't trust that they will actually have it in the restaurant.

I sat in the back bar where you can watch the chefs cook. My date and I ordered two dishes but split them both, and it was delicious. I especially liked the rabbit dish. It's fancy, modern, and still seasoned with southern flavor.

The steak was tasty and enough for 2 people easily. But I ate it all because I'm fat. The place has a west coast progressive feel to it. We need more choices like this in pcola. Will go back!

Iron has changed- feels bright and more hip. Atmosphere is great. Now closer to town. The staff is the same with great attentive service. We brought kids and they were engaged by staff. Menu looks intriguing. Came only for dessert tonight as place was packed. Small space though. The drink selection not as good - as from Marcus pointe. Desserts were fantastic. But the pound cake was more summer like than a winter dessert. The bread pudding had excellent flavor and dense but slightly dry. But we finished all of them. The martini, beer and wine were nice pours. Their coffee machine was down but will be fixed. Got complimentary Guinness cookies. Yummy

Exquisite flavors and techniques especially for Pensacola. However, main course was served room temperature at best. Still forced to pay for a $40 dish that no one would want to eat cold. As a fine dining restaurant, I expected higher standards even though I understand we all make mistakes. To restate, no one wants to pay this much for a cold plate of food that is meant to be served piping hot. It should have been made on the fly or taken off the bill. A cold plate of chicken with bold flavors may be great enough for Pensacola, but it would not suffice anywhere else.

I wish there were more restaurants in the Pensacola area like the Iron. As competition is a good thing, and in this case, I think it would be a great thing. The Iron offers outstanding service, eclectic sustainable food, on an artful plate. There were foods that I liked and didn't however, over all, I would go back again and again. The Iron is a place you have to go just during sunset, it is then that it is reminiscent of the old "Tavern on the Green" restaurant, that was located in New York's Central Park. Iron sits on the Marcus Pointe golf course, and during these hours or moments the color is beautiful. The staff is unparalleled, batted group go professionals, where you feel very catered too. There was an initial starter of compressed watermelon and raspberry caviar, this was used as a paler cleanser, and it was a start of good things to come. Then the order of fried oysters, escargot for appetizers. The fried oysters were excellent; however, I felt that these oysters in a restaurant of this calibre under rated The Iron. excellently done, but very simple. Still I liked them. The escargot, well, I like the classic, as I view escargot as a little rubber plug, that absorbs flavor. The classic, well thats garlic butter and parsley with french bread. The Iron's version is one of brie cheese in a creme sauce. It was very good, but I miss the classic. Next came the Cesar Salad, which I also found a little busy, again I like the classics. I was good, but busy. I must be a simplistic man. As an entree I ordered the lamb chops, with Juniper yogurt and lentil salad, my friend ordered the Scallops. The Lamb Chops were out of this world, seasoned perfectly and plated like a Van Gogh. It was scrumptious. My friends scallops were also a beautiful work of art, and cooked to perfection. Dessert of fried nutella ravioli, OMG, they were fantastic I wanted to order more of them to go! The price point, well it's high, but I feel well worth it. Iron gives Pensacolaians a temple to pray for more restaurants and talented chefs like this one. I know I was harsh on some items, that would make Iron not deserving of five stars. But, it's not that these items didn't taste well, they did, and there was a lot of effort to prepare them; however, I just know that I like theses same dishes prepared in a more simplistic original manner.

A hit restaurant in Pensacola. The drinks were made by experienced mixologists. We all enjoyed the drink of the night (Indian Rose) before getting to the wine. We started out with the Cajun oysters which were to die for. My wife enjoyed the Caesar which looked like it came out of a magazine. The ribeye was prime and served with an amazing bread pudding. They just moved to downtown and the new look is super hip and edgy but not pretentious. Will be a regular.

Restaurant Iron is one of the best in a thriving downtown Pensacola. Excellent service, fantastic food, great wine list...who could ask for anything more!

It would be impossible to write a proper review of hands-down my favorite restaurant on the gulf coast. There are far too many things I love about this place. Seriously, if you like food at all, do yourself a favor and make the trek out to Marcus Pointe. Their menu is constantly evolving (as is their herb garden) and you just won't find a better value for your money. The food is very rich at times... If you have a sensitive palate this may not be the place for you. But if you are an adventurous foodie that doesn't cringe at the words "head cheese," you will be in heaven.

I grew up in Pensacola and was curious as to whether or not the culinary world in this mid to small sized city had gotten any better as it has grown in size over the years. Restaurant Iron has brought a young innovative chef and enlightened Pensacola on what fine food is supposed to be. The restaurant offers seasonal inspired dishes keeping the menu fresh throughout the year. It keeps up with the traditions of larger more well known chefs and restaurants in quality and execution. I should know as I've dined at L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, Hubert Keller's Fleur de Lys, Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill and others. A few of the dishes I had: Crawfish and Macaroni: who doesn't like a southern seafood favorite with a classic American home dish? Crispy Cornmeal Oysters: delicious, hot and melt in your mouth Ancho Chili Duck: tender duck with yummy foie in an interesting spicy/sweet combination of blackberry sauce I visit Pensacola at least once yearly and will return to Iron. I look forward to the prix fixe and Chef's course menu to see if Chef Alex McPhail can create an experience from start to beginning that shows his execution of a harmonious dining experience. I would encourage the chef to continue exploring flavor profiles that integrate the best of what the Gulf and the South offers with the modernity of cuisine today. I would like to see more interesting choices in ingredients that play off a yin-yang element but at the same time compliment each other really well. Pensacola needs more shocking unknown ingredients to shake up its palate. The servers and staff are all delightful and accommodating. I'll see you again Iron!

Local Redfish, Scallops, Pork, Rabbit, Oysters, we had it all and it was supremely excellent. Each dish had its own personality and flavors as if each item was cooked in a different kitchen. The portions were generous and the freshness was easily evident in the taste. We are foodies that search out the best restaurants wherever our travels take us. This restaurant was as good as the best we've had anywhere! If you're in Pensacola you must eat here. Our server Patrick was efficient and knowledgeable and nice, an amazing server

Food was better than the local average. The fish was superb, but the duck was chewy, especially for $35; wouldn't order it again. Cheeses were very good. Foie Gras was good, except for the toast being soaked in butter/oil. Service was excellent.

The perfect place and perfect way to celebrate our 20th anniversary. The atmosphere, service, the seasonally inspired menu, the drinks and dessert were outstanding. We sat at the chef's table - which is where everyone should sit. A front row view of creativity in all that is foodie! We will be back :)

I've seen all the reviews and I've been to Iron several times at the Marcus pointe location for both lunch and dinner. Always loved and raved about them. We went last night for the Valentine's tasting/wine pairing. I was really disappointed. I felt the entire atmosphere has become pretentious. While I understand that this was a special event and a special "tasting" menu had been prepared, I left feeling like I had been ripped off for 260 bucks for 2 people. Really really saddened by this. Hope we were an anomaly. Perhaps my pallet isn't as refined as it should be or perhaps the King just has no clothing?

We went to Iron last night to celebrate a friend's new job and it was wonderful. I had been for lunch at their old Marcus Pointe location but this was my first time at their new downtown location. Because we were with a large party we were able to try many of the offerings. We shared the fried oysters, fried green tomato salad, sage gnocchi, the large cheese plate, oxtail ravioli, and then we had the goujonettes as our entree. For dessert we shared the king cake bread pudding, nutella icebox pie, and bourbon creme brullee. After all of that I can say it was all phenomenal! The food was incredible, presentation was better than I have seen anywhere else in Pensacola, and service also on par with all of the best in Pensacola. Our server Matt was fantastic and attentive. I think Iron will now tie with Global as my favorite restaurant in Pensacola, truly youjust need to try it to know how delicious the food is. Also, they have the option of having smaller portions for many of their dishes which is a GREAT option that allowed us to try a greater variety of things. The only detractors I would share is that when we arrived their was a sort of haze in the dining room, presumably from the open kitchen (which I love!). Also, my friend who made the reservations was only given the option of 5:30 or 8:30 for our group of 9 being told that they had only one area for large group seating and they needed to seat the table twice in the evening, hence our options. However, this was on a Wednesday night! Then when we arrived on the dot we were sent to the bar (drinks were delicious) and waited to be seated even though the restaurant was only half full. I think this is simply a growing pain but I wanted to point it out because I think this can be improved. TLDR: food is amazing, space is beautiful, service is great. You should definitely go!

We arrived a little after 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26,2015. The restaurant was not too busy, but not empty either, a rather decent crowd late on a Wednesday. We shared an large order of escargot for appetizer. Unfortunately, they were overcooked, chewy and a bit muddy tasting. I have eaten escargot on cruise ships, O'Brien's Bistro and cooked them myself at home. The dish served on this night was a disappointment to say the least. Our main courses made up for that bad start. I had the Muscovy duck and my date had the Ribeye. HUGE steak cooked perfectly to temperature, great flavor. The duck was delicious and we have no complaints about our main course. Dessert however was another bomb, creme' brulee' that was not completely set up and still a little warm. Not what I expect from creme brulee', again, this is something that I make at home and therefore have high expectations when I order it out. Would I go back to this restaurant, sure, but I will never order the escargot here again and I will skip dessert. Service was impeccable, very attentive staff. The decor was hip and modern, great vibe in this place. For the money paid however, each course should have been cooked to perfection.

Absolutely Heavenly....exceptional service, culinary execution superb...beautiful plating...I like the small menu, which results in excellent attention to flavors and precise cooking skills for all items. The half portions are a great addition, we shared two appetizers. Special cocktails were creative and good. Iron is expensive and well worth the price. It ranks as a top of a line restaurant right along with the best NOLA has to offer.

Dinner last night was fun and delicious. Reservations were at 5:30. Our party decided to order some of the small plate options so we could try more menu items. Glad we did. Started off with a cute little complimentary amuse-bouche of compressed melon with pomegranate pearls...tasty. After a lot of menu scrutiny, the four of us selected fried oysters, pork belly, escargot and the deconstructed Caesar salad. The clear winners were the cornmeal crusted fried oysters and the beer braised and pan roasted pork belly. Good Lord, they were delicious. The presentations were spot on and the cuvee of accompanying sauces was sublime. The Caesar salad was also very tasty...crunchy romaine leaves deftly threaded through a crispy ring-like crouton, covered in silky ribbons of parmesan cheese...topped off with house made dressing. The escargot was ok...not great. It was bit toothsome (as it can be) and needed some garlic and a bit of citrus. Maybe it was because the other choices were so good in comparison. On to the entrees...we selected the Wagyu flank steak, the double cut pork chop, duck breast and the 20 ounce rib eye. All were beautifully plated with some extraordinary sauces as accompaniment. All but the ribeye were fantastic...it was just ok, but the savory mushroom bread pudding that came with it was delicious. I especially liked the seared fois gras which nicely complemented the duck. My recommendation is to try the more eclectic menu options. Our wine selection was an excellent choice (2011 Napa cabernet) as recommended by our attentive and knowledgeable server. We could have ordered by-the-glass, but were glad we went with a couple of bottles of the cab. Next time I'll try one of their craft cocktails. Desserts were wonderful. We chose the salted caramel bread pudding, the crème brulee and the flourless chocolate torte. The clear winner here was the bread pudding! And the French press coffee was great. All of this was presented by an extremely competent wait staff and kitchen team that left nothing to be improved upon. We were highly satisfied with this dinner service and look forward to our next visit.

We LOVE Iron! It's always delicious! We had both the fried oyster appetizer (amazing!) and the escargot appetizer (yum). I appreciated the fact that you could order a half-sized entrée of the fish; it was so good! Definitely in our top two restaurants in Pensacola! Thanks, Chef Alex.

We were lucky to attend the "soft opening" of their new location on Palafox. The same wonderful food, attentive staff, in a more convenient location. The restaurant is cozy with small tables and a chef's bar, to watch the food preparation. We loved the fresh salads and had perfectly seasoned entrees in very generous portions. The menu does change with the seasons, but some of the staples remain. We always love the fried oysters, and the catch of the day. Highly recommended.

DO NOT GO TO IRON if you have Celiac Disease or other gluten sensitivity. I made reservations at Iron for a night out last night with my husband and friends. I noted on my reservation that I needed gluten free and when the server arrived at the table, I explained that I had Celiac Disease and was very sensitive to cross-contamination. The server stated she investigated safe menu items for me before I got there and it would be no problem to provide a safe meal. That would have been great if the restaurant's manager and chef were at all educated about gluten and cross contamination issues. First, I was told the fries were gluten free, but when I inquired further, learned they were fried in the same oil as battered items. The manager also said the lamb dish was gluten free. When the lamb arrived, it had an unusual looking side dish, with mushrooms on top. I grabbed a mushroom off the top and ate it, but then took a closer look at the side item. It looked like barley or some other type of grain, I asked the server what it was and whether it was, indeed, gluten free. After watching the server, manager and chef discuss the matter, I was told it was not gluten free. The manager apologized and said he thought it was some kind of couscous; which is, of course, wheat based and definitely not gluten free. I am extremely sick today, due entirely to the complete and utter failure of the chef and manager at Iron to educate themselves about gluten.

Hands down the best restaurant in Pensacola. I've never been disappointed and have always been wowed by fantastic presentation, local ingredients, and amazing flavors! The menu is ever changing to accommodate what's fresh in their garden, local in-season items, as well as to add creative new culinary concepts. It's a little pricy but you're paying for top quality ingredients, and don't worry the portions are generous so you'll never leave hungry. Make a reservation if you plan to go on the weekend, seats are a hot commodity!

The restaurant is small, but quaint. The chef is the most imaginative chef on the Gulf Coast. We have had dinner here 3 or 4 times. Each time the menu is completely different and amazing! The dishes are a work if art, and taste as fantastic as they look. Great wine list, and knowledgable and professional service. I am looking forward to our next visit!

Fabulous food. The chefs really care about what they are serving. It is a gastronomic nirvana compared to other restaurants in Pensacola. We had the heirloom tomatoes and the pork belly which were both superb. my wife had diver scallops and I had salmon, both worth ordering again. Don't pass on this gem.

This is by far the most consistent and innovative food that I have ever had in Pensacola. The effort that goes into doing so much work from scratch, and beautiful presentation is astounding. The burger has even surpassed McGuire's as my all time favorite. Can't wait to try dinner.

This is clearly the best restaurant in the central Gulf Coast area. It rivals anyplace we have experienced in New Orleans. We were here for our son's birthday, which gave us an opportunity to explore different plates across the menu. For apps we shared the cheese board and a charcuterie plate. The chef demonstrates a refined palate in his cheese selections, and range of talents in the charcuterie. For entrées, his catch is very solid and pleasing. He showed great creativity, developing depth of flavor in the lamb neck roulade. The duck breast was as perfectly executed as can be imagined. One of our party had 2 small plates, both of which were near flawless. The green tomato salad bowl was extraordinarily creative, and a beautiful presentation, but the salad needed more dimension IMO. Maybe a crumble of artisanal bacon, or a lift of acidity. The star of the meal was spaghetti and meatballs. I'm not going to spoil it, trust me, try it. Bravo!
