I will start out by saying if you order the non-greek food (excluding pizza) on the menu, you will probably want to go elsewhere. The real gem of the restauant is the Gyro Pizza. Now, I love pizza and its cheezy goodness. I love warm pitas and meat piled high with tomatoes, gyro meat, feta, and onions. Blending the two together is sheer genius! When our family goes, we throw down and get the largest size which looks like a manhole cover. You will not leave hungry my friend.

This place is as reliable as the sunrise ... in its food, in its service, and in its appropriate pricing. While the pizzas on other people's tables looked good, I just can't go into a place named FOUNARIS and NOT order Greek food. Not happening.

The staff is nice and friendly once you get someone to come over take your order. The waitress did apologize for the wait since she was in training. The place is clean and spacious. My husband and I ordered the gyro sandwiches and added feta since it did not come with the sandwich. The meat was over cooked and salty. The tomatoes were sparse and clearly out of season (texture, taste, and color were not appealing). The sauce was okay. Overall, I would suggest steering clear of the Greek food and go for the pizza because it seemed to look good.

(Visited 2/17/15) The wife and I had lunch here. Now I will preface this review, I wanted to give this place three and a half stars, for cleanliness and service. We arrive at 11 when they first open for lunch, our food took awhile but our server could have done a better job of keeping us in the loop. We saw two other tables served and one finished his meal before ours came close to coming out. Just keep us informed about the progress of our food, would have been nice. Second this restaurant is due for a cleaning and a renovation don't worry it is not bad but would have made my review a solid four. The food, I had a gyro plate and the wife had the house special pizza. Both of those plates are solid options. The meat was well seasoned in a gyro and taste like what I have had in other countries. The pizza was better than chain pizza to me. So for the food it bumped my review up to a four from a three and a half stars. A solid lunch choice if your in the area.

The meal and service were both very fine. The chili is especially worthwhile to mention. The decor and energy of the establishment were both lacking somewhat, however that shouldn't dissauade you from trying this place out.
(4)Kelly B.
Gyro plate is a lot of food. Could have a better fries, the friendly staff and homemade hummus made up processed potatoes. Large family tables are great but the place is a little outdated can be overlooked when busy dipping into the taziki. If I lived in the area I could see myself dining or take out once a week.

This is my all time favorite restaurant in the entire USA. Their greek salad with homemade dressing is addicting. And their pizza's are loaded with goodies. My favorite pizza is plain cheese & feta cheese, extra done. And then I dip my crust in the left over salad dressing. My family eats here once a month.
(5)Dennis D.
The fried mushrooms were very good. The tossed salad is nothing special, but the homemade dressing makes it special. The pizzas are delicious. You must try a pizza with gyro meat, and they are not cheap with the toppings. We will be back again soon.

Excellent food! Excellent service! Excellent location! Ian, our server, was super attentive and extremely friendly. Our drinks were never low and never ran out. Kudos to you Ian! The Greek salad was the best we have had in the states. The salad dressing was impeccable. Very nice touch! I was really pleased with almost everything here! The gyro is the ONLY way to go! so, originally I had five stars down, but I had to change it to four because they use rose water in their baklava! Real Greeks don't use rose water! That's a middle eastern thing, namely Lebanese! Tisk tisk. Changing ny review for a third time. Down to three stars. The rice pudding was extremely bland. I would, however, go back but ONLY for the gyros. They were actually VERY good! I guess I should have waited till I was completely done eating before posting my review, huh? Lol!

I have driven by so many times, finally gave it a try. What a surprise! Awesome wait staff, helpful and kept our drinks full the entire meal. The atmosphere and location are both awkward and dated. But the food makes it so WORTH it. I would even call it a dive. Had the smothered pizza--- loaded and delicious- -even tastier with the house Greek dressing. Portions and price are fair and understandable. Only knock would be the Greek side salad---but who rates side salads anyway. Overall great place for a good Greek bite, in an otherwise barren side of town.
(4)S B.
Very good food! There were a lot of choices on the menu and the price was reasonable. It's hard to satisfy my hubby and he was very pleased with the service and food, will go back when we are in town again.
(5)James G.
Food is good, my wife LOVES the salads, and I thought the pizza was good. The pizza is a little different but i liked it. The service was good and everyone was very friendly. The interior is no frills so don't expect much, but other wise its a good place to try out.
(4)John B.
We stumbled across this place while looking for another Yelp-suggested spot nearby. Boy, are we glad we stopped! The service was fantastic and the food was delicious! We ordered the gyros plate, spaghetti & meatballs, the house sub, and the daily manicotti (chicken today). Everything was fresh, tasty, and the portions were large. While waiting for our food to come out, we spotted some of the pizzas they serve and we are ready to go back and try one!
(5)Molly H.
The food was ok, but the value for the money isn't great. Some aspects of the service are just lazy, like the salad presentation and the bag of lays as a side. They also charge 5 cents plus tax for a mint!?
(2)Cara M.
It's not Greece, but it is yummy. I will say I have high expectations when it comes to Greek food and for the Americanized version this is place is one I will be stopping at again. The Gyro was delicious and the service was excellent. This place won't disappoint.
(5)Sarah H.
I just had cold leftover pizza from here and it was better than anywhere else you will find pizza in the area. It had excellent flavor, great crust, and the toppings were not spared. After trying this pizza I am going to have to visit this location.
(5)Chantea H.
My absolute favorite local restaurant. The Greek pizza is amazing and I love the house salad. I am pretty sure they make their own dressing. It is so good. Service is always great and staff is super friendly even when they are super busy which is often.
(5)Pete F.
We were looking for some good authentic Greek food. We had the hummus as an appetizer. It was quite bland. I had the pastitsio. My wife had the Greek salad with gyro. Everything was alright but just lacked seasoning and depth of flavor.
(3)April D.
Greek food is well known but Greek pizza is a well kept secret! This place has the best anywhere! Very nice family runs this and it is as good as it ever was when they were downtown. Don't miss out!
(4)Terry G.
Founaris has some of the best pizza you will ever eat. This Pensacola restaurant has been around for many years, and there is a very good reason for it. The staff is always very friendly, the food is incredibly good, and the variety on the menu will always leave you wanting more. They have daily lunch specials with large portions and affordable prices. Do yourself a favor and order a pizza with gyro meat and feta cheese. It will change your life.

We were in the area and very hungry so we stopped in. Our waitress was nice but she may have been new--she seemed very scatterbrained. Maybe she was busier than she appeared because the restaurant has a lot of rooms linked together and I know there were people seated at least in the first two rooms, and possibly beyond us in another. The food was okay. Prices were reasonable for a casual sit down place. I wasn't really impressed with the food but it was alright. The gyro was a good, big size but the garlic sauce was far too garlicy. It had that almost biting, spicy taste because of the amount of garlic in the sauce. The moussaka my husband got was good but a little unusual. Very carrot-y tasting. The house dressing on our salad had a great flavor but we were definitely expecting the worst since it had the consistency of water. Crazy long wait time on food, but then again we did come in during the lunch rush hour so I know how that can be. I think we waited about 30 minutes for our salads and the actual food was another 10-15 minutes after that. Like I said, we came in at their peak rush time so I can't really fault them with that. Overall, I wasn't overly impressed with this place. I'm glad we stopped in but we probably wouldn't be back if we were in the area.
(3)Aaron I.
Service was good but I don't factor service into a recommendation unless staff is outright hostile. Side salads were uninspiring. Iceburg lettuce, a single cucumber and tomato slice, and some shredded carrots and purple cabbage. Dressing was on the side in squeeze bottles. Spanakopita was awful. Overly creamy and couldn't taste the feta. Had a weird underlying sweetness as well. Moussaka was surprisingly good and the highlight of the meal. Very flavorful and filling. Garlic bread was bland. Baklava was decent. Not bad, but nothing amazing. I would not eat at Founaris Bros again given the drive it took to get there. Likewise, if you're passing through or visiting Pensacola, I do not recommend eating here. If you live in Pensacola then I'm sure you could do worse but avoid the spanakopita.

Driving through Florida we made a late dinner stop and overall enjoyed the meal. My husband was a little disappointed in the uninspired and inauthentic Greek salad but the gyro meet in his plate and my sandwich was very well seasoned and tender. I saw it had a high rating and I decided it was with a try, not the best Greek we've had but very good. My husband also was excited to find a Greek and Italian beer on the menu to try (so I got to drive the next leg of our road trip).
(4)Russ M.
A nice authentic, Greek, Mediterranian, Italian family owned restaurant. Cudos to my server Austin for doing an outstanding job. I came in shortly before closing time. He made sure that I was both comfortable and unrushed. My food, Greek Salad, Meatball app, and bread were all good. The star of my meal was the greek vinegarette dressing for the Greek Salad.. Delicious!
(3)Erica I.
Very nice feel and menu options! The service is nice and prompt with very considerate and understanding people. The price isn't too shabby either.
(4)Brian O.
We stopped into Founaris Brothers today for lunch. We both had the gyro bowls, one with chicken and other with gyro meat. Both bowls came with rice, tossed with tomatoes, spinach, onions and feta cheese. The bowls also came with pita triangles. Both of the bowls were very tasty. Service was excellent. Would definitely return to this restaurant if the opportunity arises.
(4)Wendi S.
Amazing pizza! Such a thick crust and crispy. If you've never tried feta on your pizza, order it. It comes out on the top bronzed and so delicious! My husband ordered gyro meat on his pizza and he said it was almost too much meat! Who says that??? The owner is very nice and always wants you to be happy. Their greek salad dressing is very tasty. I wish they'd switch to a romaine or green leaf lettuce, but besides that, the salad is very good!
(5)David D.
Went to Founaris' after work this evening, a Friday . Called ahead. Ordered a pizza , the 7 . It was fresh, hot and didn't look nor taste like it came from a chain garbage can... Cause its not!.. Try one... Its a little on the heavy side but if your hungry for the real deal...Nuff said.
(4)Georgio B.
Good food. Love my Mythos! Props to the ownership trying to keep it authentic!
(3)Mari G.
I ordered the Gyro Bowl. It was perfectly spiced and absolutely delicious. My kids had the spaghetti and the chicken tenders for my less adventurous child. I wasn't particularly impressed with the spaghetti. My kids weren't either. Though, it's probably because they are more used to my highly garlic infused version. I also brought my aunt who is from Greece. She wasn't impressed at all, but liked the pita bread. The meat wasn't traditional Gyro in her mind. As I've never been to Greece, I thought it was good. Our server Austin was wonderful. He spoke to my kids like adults in asking if they needed more to drink or answering their questions. I like that he didn't treat them as if they wouldn't have opinions or questions about food simply because they are children.
(4)J.J. D.
Went there yesterday our waitress was absolutely the best we've ever had genuinely cared for us and was always on point. The gyros were excellent meat was cut thick and delicious. Baklava was ok I've had better it came with cheesecake bite those were disgusting they tasted like that had been sitting I'm the cooler for a long time other than that it was an awesome experience I would highly recommend it I would definitely return!!
(5)Chris H.
I don't hand out 5 stars to just anyone. This place is among the best of the best in Pensacola. When I go (and I go often!), I usually order the Gyro Bowl. I really couldn't say ONE bad thing about this place!
(5)Anna C.
I'll preface this with the fact that I'm a huge Greek food fan, and have been to Greece numerous times. With this in mind, I didn't find this restaurant impressive enough to make this a regular spot. Didn't try the pizza, but the real Greek fare was just fair.
(2)Joe M.
three stars for the food. 4 stars for the pizza. I usually always get a gyro or pizza. Don't really go there for much of anything else
(4)Raul E.
One of the best pizza's I have ever tasted. The gyro was good but the pita bread was a little stale.
(4)Yvonne G.
Had lunch there. Really good eggplant parmesan, sweet iced tea and chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. (I asked them to heat up the brownie). Good affordable food. Nice staff. Quick friendly service. I'm happy it's so close to my hotel!
(5)Emily B.
Finally--a hearty Chef salad! Everything on the menu looked fantastic--reaaaallly wanted a Gyro but opted for the "health" option (darnit!!). The salad came in three sizes, and it had plenty of meat. I was MORE than full with a medium size salad and I didn't even eat the whole thing!! I will definitely come back again--their menu has some very good looking entrees and appetizers.
(4)Charles B.
Founaris Brothers is a fantastic locally owned Greek restaurant located in Car City. They serve a full menu of Greek & Mediterranean dishes including gyros, gyro platters, moussaka, pastitsio, and a fantastic array of pizzas. I get to eat at this restaurant once a month when the West Florida Canoe & Kayak Club meets in their large party room. If you need to host a large group, they do have a private room that is perfect! I would highly recommend trying Founaris Brothers - especially if you are passing through Pensacola & need a locally owned restaurant to try that is right next to I-10.
(4)Tina W.
Hated it! Food was old and dry, would never stop by again!
(1)C K.
friend picked this place out of road ninja. was good for road trip! accessible to highway and seated us fast.
(3)Erik L.
If you are a Pizza lover or desire a real for true greek food experience then Founaris Bros. is the place to go. Pizzas have the freshest and best tasting homemade ingredients. Try the smothered pizza. Lots of mozzarella and taste. The Gyros (Yee-ros) are the best I have ever had. Tender slices of beef and lamb with a fantastic Tzaziki sauce. WOW! If you leave here hungry then you need to go see a doctor.
(5)Tom H.
I recommend ordering their vegetarian pizza without the marinara. Great combined with the feta cheese. I always order the largest pie they have. The pieces are so thick that we end up taking most of it home. One pizza provides lunch for the next couple days!
(5)Scott S.
A shocking amount of italian food on the menu. Souflaki was kind of bland, pizza was good though. Probably wont be back, despite the fantastic service.
(2)Benjamin S.
Founaris Bros. is a great locally own Mediterranean/Greek Style Restaurant near I-10 & Pensacola Car City. They have a wide selection of all the Mediterranean favorites including gyro's, moussaka, greek pizzas, etc. Everything was fantastic, and my personal favorite would have to be the pizza. DELISH. They do cater to large parties, and they have a fairly large private room. So, I think I might consider holding my company parties there in the future. Highly recommended.
(5)Ginger N.
We eat here on a regular basis. The Pizza is great, especially the super seven. Gyros are very good - they don't skimp on the meat. Love the Moussaka and the spanakopeta as well as the dolmas.
(5)Cole Y.
This is a local Mediterranian restaurant located on Hwy 29. The food here is pretty good, but its is nothing fancy. The inside looks somewhat like an old school lunch room. If you are looking for atmosphere, you may want to go somewhere else.
(4)Andrew D.
Fantastic pizza! Had a couple slices of takeout at a work event, and I absolutely loved the sausage-olive-feta pie, from the crust up.
(5)Tug S.
I had the hummus and side a gyro meat. It was disgusting and overpriced. $12.05 for some hummus and gyro meat. What a ripoff. I've had some fantastic hummus in Manhattan for 5 bucks. If your looking for some greek food look somewhere else.

We tried it last Friday, because of the positive Yelp reviews and the large number of cars outside the restaurant just before 6 pm. Sorry, guys, but Jordan Valley on New Warrington is so much better, and far closer for us. Atmosphere was sort of like a lunchroom at school -- bright lights, linoleum and no sense of privacy at all, and one of the staff was flipping the nonskid rugs near our table (yech). We had: one pizza (pretty good but not great; not finished), one spanakopita (tasted funny and had a strange tough texture, plus was cut as a rectangle from a large sheet, so the spinach layer was not enclosed at all; not finished), and pastitsio, which was edible but not great. Took baklava home; that was pretty normal for baklava, nothing unusual but nothing objectionable, either. The salads were not at all Greek, which was weird. It just was very anticlimactic for a long drive. We found the Jordan Valley Greek Restaurant by chance a couple of days later, and Founaris Bros definitely suffers in the comparison.
(2)Andy L.
The food is good, but the service is hit and miss. There are servers that are great, and others there really couldn't care less if you never come back. The food is worth it, so toss a coin and give it a try.
(3)Julie B.
The best pizza I've ever had! You must try this place, excellent service too!
