This place was so overpriced for things I have gotten at other mom and pop places.... we just looked at a menu and didn't bother eating because the hostesses were extremely snotty and acted like we were rude for interrupting them talking and laughing and looked at us up and down like we were lower than them. I'm not eating at a place where it is just the "better than you" atmosphere.

We took a chance on the Shrimp Boat last night with it only having 3 stars, but we we had a great experience. We had a late dinner (8 o'clock) so I'm not sure if our service would have been different at an earlier hour, but we were seated immediately. The ambiance was relaxing and a bit nicer than your average seafood joint. We had great service and amazing food. Try the Yellow Fin Tuna (Rare)!! Reasonably priced and the soy sauce is tasty! We would definitely go back.

I guess I've never really eaten at a place where I paid so much for a meal and didn't have any choice. I wanted the captains plate and I was told I could either have it deep-fried or broiled I could not have my shrimp deep-fried in my fish broiled and the scallops were about the size of a pencil eraser. I was extremely disappointed the meal was extremely poor and everyone's food at the table said it was salty. Uncle Ernie's is just around the corner or even Gracy Rays at the back of the shrimp boat building is much better. I will not waste my money to give them a second chance

If you're looking to escape some of the longer lines in PCB head to St. Andrews and try this place out. The service is very good, and the food is a step up from the typical beach fare. The portions are generous and the dishes are well prepared. My main criticism is that they charge $3 extra for a "loaded" baked potato, which to them means bacon, cheese, and chives. For $3 I should get more than a few crumbles of bacon and shreds of cheese. Despite that I was pleased and felt that the food and service were worth the price.

Food is great! Some of the worst service ever! A table of 20 prepared to spend over $1000.00 yet we couldn't even get the basics...silverware!! Salads were on the table before silverware. Management team is apparently clueless at how poorly this restaurant is run!

The food was great service was ok didnt like being seated right next to other people with kids when the whole restaurant was empty . Their garlic parmesan oysters were delicious and the highlight of our meal, the wine and cheese dressing i enjoyed in my salad .

  • Jim L.

The tuna was fresh and superb! I had it medium with a soy glaze. Baked potato was hot and flaky. The salad could have been colder. Lettuce wilted a bit. I am too full for dessert.

She crab soup was absolutely delicious! Great seafood and perfect place surround by docks.

Wonderful ambience and place. Julia, our server was awesome, the margarita was one of the best I've had and the seafood was very fresh. Prices very reasonable for the high quality of everything we had.

The location is great and the feel of the place was the same. Its a wide open setup with plenty of tables and room. As for the food there were a lot of groans and ehhhh's from my group they all said it was just o-k. I sampled most everything and thought the same. The dish I had was the Lousiana shrimp atop gouda grits. Its rare i think anything is better than mashed potatoes and I have to give it to the grits here they were GREEEEAAAAAT! I'm not a local so I wont be going here anytime soon but if I was I wouldn't go back until I heard the food improved.

Food is above average, service is good, views are good. Prices are on the higher side. One annoying issue is the cheap silverware this restaurant uses ... guests will need to "straighten" their fork several times during their meal.

Food was great and nice atmosphere. I thought the menu was priced fair as well.

Great looking restaurant that has been well decorated. That's the end of the pros! Wait, wait, wait, and wait some more. NO they aren't busy but your still waiting. Appetizers show up with your entrees but they are "real" sorry about that too! Oh...you ordered Grouper not the Shrimp? Not a problem....while everyone else eats (and finishes) we will get you a new dish. Now that everyone is done we have your Grouper ready. So sorry about the wait! Time for the bill... We discounted your dish because we messed it up and the manager is busy so we cant get him to authorize taking the dish off the bill. Sorry about that.... This place really is a mess. Only in Panama City can you take a nice restaurant and staff it full of poorly trained staff and still keep the doors open. This is one of the high end restaurants in town. Offers the some of the worst food and equally as poor customer service. But hey, what do we know... were just locals! AND WE DONT WORK AT THE PLACE LIKE THOSE THAT LIKE IT!

We went a bit early in a Friday evening During spring break (6pm) to avoid the wait and sat right down. All the food was great and our waitress was very helpful in giving recommendations. Would definitely come back next time we're in PCB and wanting a nice meal in a nice place.

Jack our waiter very attentive meal was done in the way a meal should be served.. Drinks with appetizer, then salads and the main course..Drinks were filled without asking , he was amazing and friendly, this was our first time and we made sure the manager who was extremly polite and proud of jack, Mr. Eddie Batt was very please we had an awesome experience. WE will be back, OH! And the food was AWESOME..best service we've had at a resturant in Bay County EVER!!! We will be back..

I spotted this place by default. Was headed somewhere else but the lights and location attracted me. Grabbed jalapeño oysters to go. Oysters were great! Was very disappointed the gumbo was not served with rice. Would definitely try again if I'm in the area

Pretty much over-rated. The restaurant itself is nice, a very scenic location well decorated and laid out in a very good manner. Like some other Yelper's comments, there were several folks waiting for a table in a largely empty restaurant. I asked to sit at the bar and was able to be seated immediately. The menu looks good with what appears to be a good presentation for an upscale dining establishment. Several dishes look interesting, but really expensive... I was early enough to take advantabe of "Happy Hour" Tapas servings of some of their dishes. None were impressive at all. The seafood gumbo had a light roux which tasted good, but the downfall of the seafood gumbo was the seafood. She shrimp was absolutely mass produced frozed stuff which probably came from a large restaurant provider. It is a shame that a place located directly on the dock is not offering legit "catch of the day" food.

Food service was slow to arrive and our waiter seemed to be incapable of making eye contact and answering anything. He would hear us and just walk off. He would eentually return with what we asked for, or somethig close, like my drink order. That took three tries as he would not stand and take an order and would run off, then have the nerve to say that the mistakes were my ordering them wrong. The food was not bad, but it was instantly forgettable. Everything was sort of bland and heavy. The views are awesome, but sunset can be painful as the windows do not get shuttered for it.

Food was excellent!!! The waiter was very nice and was on top of it. I will go back for sure!!!

Third year we have eaten here while on vacation!! Wonderful atmosphere sitting on the bay. Great photo ops after you eat as well. Go there at sunset gorgeous!! Food is amazing as well. Never a bad meal or service!! It's on the pricey side though.

Shrimp Boat - 08/30 Management did the right thing! Our party of six was seated upon arrival and the wait staff took our drink, appetizer and entrée order. The drinks and appetizers were delivered as expected but we experienced a very long delay for the entrée. After asking the staff to check on our dinner, she discovered that our dinner had not been prepared due to equipment failure. The manager expedited the preparation and made an adjustment to the bill without asking. In just a few minutes, he masterly turned a sour situation --- sweet. I recommend the Char Roasted Oysters and Baked Seafood La Costa, they are first-rate.

I like the ambiance and the service was ok.. The food.. for the price you pay not so much I had a cup of the she crab and boy that was GREAT! for dinner I had the red snapper and I asked for a side of capers sauce on the side.. it was ooo...kkkkk.. Overall I expect better quality when I pay 40 bucks for an entree and a cup of soup

Went here for there breakfast buffer one time wasn't that impressed with the food. Various options but I have had better breakfasts for much cheaper in town or at the beach. Place is nice inside but I'm not grading on how nice the place is just on the food I have eaten.

  • Tiff Y.

Overpriced and not that great! This place looks huge and amazing from the outside, but the food was nothing to brag about and was very expensive. The view is nice.

This was a very nice restaurant that I attended for a rehearsal dinner. So as I can't speak to the regular restaurant itself, I'll comment on the private party experience. We were situated in a cozy room with a good view. The servers were all excellent, the best perhaps being the bartender who had to contend with a hundred "thirsty" guests. She was quick and professional. The rest of the service was great and everything got put out and cleared in a timely fashion. Here are some specific ratings/comments on the food: Shrimp cocktail: nothing special Shish kebabs: spicy sausage, pretty tasty Veggie platter / cheese platter: par for the course Italian wedding soup: not too great, mine came out cold. I've had better Italian wedding soup from a Progresso can. Surf and turf: OMG. Heaven. I have never understood the allure of a lobster tail, but I did enjoy it. The steak was PERFECTLY cooked at a TRUE medium rare. It was delicious. the garlic mashed potatoes were very thick and heavy, but still nice. I could have lived without the overly oily, charred "fresh" vegetables. Dessert: heavenly. We got a choice between a chocolate creme brûlée and the mother of all key lime pies. Holy crap. Best key lime pie EVER. in all, I really liked the atmosphere of this seafood restaurant. It's too bad it was pouring so we couldn't enjoy the view a bit more.

My first impression of the Shrimp Boat was that it looked really nice, especially the outside right by the water. The food here wasn't all that great and the price is out of the world it seems. I ordered a cat fish dish with some fries and it was around $11ish. The cat fish tasted pretty good at first but then it was too salty to finish. The water they served was in a dirty glass or just dirty water. There were floaters swimming all around in the water and this pretty much lost my appetite. For a restaurant this expensive you would expect some clean water and glasses. The portion of fries that came with my meal was very disappointing. There were barely any fries for a dish this expensive!! That really pissed me off. Fries are cheap and that's how they serve you when you pay so much for this dish. They charge an 18% gratuity for a party of 8 or more. I won't be coming back to this place anytime soon. I also tipped them a penny and they were too good to take it. Well, if they're too good for my penny then I guess they're too good for me.

The view is beautiful and the she-crab soup is good, everything else was a complete fail. We waited for an outside table for 45 minutes then the hostess tried to seat us at an inside table. The server was very nice and took our order promptly and the appetizer and soup came out quickly. Sautéed crab claws are soggy and greasy with little flavor and gave me heartburn. She-crab soup is very good. After the app and soup we didn't see the server again. After an hour we found a hostess and asked for our bill. The Manager came out to apologize but it was far too late and the last dinner of our vacation was ruined. I'm 40 years old and this is the only time I can recall leaving a restaurant without having been served. We had great meals at Firefly and Sweet Basil while we were in Panama City Beach. Prices at Firefly are comparable for a fantastic meal and Sweet Basil is much cheaper with great food.

Worth the drive from the beach! A little out of the way for someone who is staying on the beach. Some of the best seafood in town. Crab Cakes were phenomenal! A very cool and casual atmosphere. You can visit in shorts or dresses up wearing a jacket. A lot of neat memorabilia on the wall from the previous restaurant. Be sure to walk towards the back of the restaurant and visit the separate bar or walk around the pier.

Having gone here last year and enjoyed the food and atmosphere I decided to do it again. Big Mistake service was ok nothing to write home about. Kept asking for butter for Baked Potato which was way overcooked she finally brought the rolls that should have come with the salad and then presented us with little butter things for the rolls to put in the baked potato. Wifes fries were overcooked. The seafood La Costa might as well been chop suey. It lacked any flavor or WOW for the price tag. I envisioned cream sauce and a richer more robust flavoring. I would be wrong I guess. The oysters were good as was the Mai Tai but everything else feel short. Disappointed too because a close friend who lives locally took us here last time and we had great food and service. I think I will seek out another local seafood eatery before going back here. I'm not picky but when you get a 100.00 check you expect to be at least wowed with something. The only wow for me was the oysters who obviously grew up from the last time. Getting water refills was like pulling teeth and when told the fries were overcooked the waitress had it deducted from the bill which was nice. It just fell short for me in that you go someplace remembering the service and food and it falls short of your expectations.

Food is great loved everything that I ate but the service sucked. The food is worth it if you can handle slow servers.

Great place! Great food, the service was excellent. If you love deviled crab you should try the stuffed shrimp, they are delicious. My husband had the steak and shrimp and it was cooked perfectly and also delicious. Our server was awesome. We would definitely suggest this place to anyone. Much better than all of the places in PCB and great ambiance too. St. Andrews Marina area is a great area and if you go there on Saturday morning there is an awesome farmer's market. We brought all kind of veggies home with us.

Very nice local restaurant, great atmosphere right on the water. Great seafood selection but also wide variety of chicken, steak, and pork items. Our favorites were the sweet and spicy thai shrimp appetizer, the gulf shrimp, and the ribs. Service was good. We got there around 7pm on Sat, no wait. Con: we didn't really care for the She Crap topping on the stuffed gulf shrimp, but really just a personal preference. The shrimp is jumbo size and just needs a little cocktail sauce to make it taste perfect. Will definitely go back.

went in today at 4pm before the rush...service was excellent...the server was very knowledgeable about the food. Had the rock and roll sushi roll which was very good (wasabi was a little on the mild side). I ordered the BBQ shrimp and grits which were good but the grits were cold. Instead of just reheating the plate the chef recooked the entire entree. This in my eyes, being in the food service business, is an excellent example of the difference between an OK restaurant and an exceptional restaurant. The recooked order came out amazingly hot and was very very good. Only complaint was that the salad mix could have been a little fresher, it seemed a bit wilted but was passable. Oh and the other complaint was that soda was NOT free refills. They would have been fifty cents for each refill. In this day and age free refills on soda should be the rule and not the exception.

Went in here while visiting from Chicago and it was busy like most places around. However, the front desk hostess didn't seem like she wanted to help us... Very unfriendly and didn't seem eager to help us. She told us it is about 45 minutes to an hour wait and she didn't give us a pager that I noticed other people had while waiting. When we asked, she rudely said," we will come get you." I have no problem waiting an hour, but there were so many people waiting there and I doubt you would leave your booth to come call us when our table is up. That said, I went next door to Uncle Ernies and couldn't have been happier.

This place is beautiful, scenic location and has upscale look. They sat us right away on a Saturday night. The server was nice, it took a while to get our drinks and appetizer of calamari. The calamari was the best dish we had in this restaurant. The rest of the meal went down hill from there. I ordered the Seafood Platter, the fish was overcooked and it wasn't seasoned at all. The shrimp and scallops were definitely previously frozen. My husband ordered the Key West Salad with pompano shrimp. The pompano shrimp was delicious, but the rest of the salad was disappointing. The added way too much blue cheese crumbles and it overpowered the rest of the dish. All in all this restaurant was just average.

Hit the bar for 2 for 1 drinks during happy hour and order the chargrilled oysters with grilled sourdough bread which are to die for. Also look up and admire the copper sign from the former restaurant. Tuna dip not bad, not great, but good. To finish, ask for the Caramel Italian Cream Cake (not on the menu).

If I could give zero stars, I would. We are local and could walk here as regulars. We don't because the service is usually poor and the food is mediocre. We were making an exception tonight because we had a house full of people on a rainy Fourth of July and at least the restaurant is pretty. We called to put our name on the list and were told it would be a 45 min wait. We showed up about 40 mins later and were told the wait would be 45 mins. After explaining we had called, the host said it didn't matter that we had called. He actually said we could wait or leave, our choice and didn't seem at all interested in our business. His attitude was that he had plenty of tourists and didn't need repeat business. We left and will NEVER go back. I suggest tourists try 30A Cafe and avoid this place.

Their Char Grilled Oysters Rock! One of the three best foods I have ever put in my mouth! I also had the St. Andrews Grouper with crab meat on top. Divine!

We took a friend here last night and we were not disappointed! Between the Spicy Tuna Roll and the Edamame we were very happy. I ordered a small Filet Steak, it was cooked to perfection and seasoned wonderfully. If you are in the neighborhood don't miss out on this restaurant!

  • Aimee C.

Unlike the previous reviewer, I am a local. We visited the new "Shrimp Boat" restaurant about 2 weeks ago for dinner. We were told the wait was 20 minutes, but we waited more like 45. The ambience was nice. They have a full bar near the entrance to help pass the waiting time. As we followed the hostess to our table we passed a Sushi bar. We sat down and looked over the menu and decided that we wanted to see the Sushi Bar menu too, since the only thing sushi on the main menu was a sushi chef sampler-like plate under the appetizers category. We were disappointed to find out that you cannot order sushi from the sushi bar. If you want to order from the sushi bar (which is only a few feet away) you have to go sit somewhere else! Needless to say, we didn't want to wait another 45 minutes to get a different table, so we just ordered from the regular menu. I ordered the seafood platter broiled. I asked that little to no butter be used since I get very sick when I consume much butter. My seafood was drowning in butter when it arrived! The waitress said that they "used only a little." My sister ordered her seafood platter broiled without any limitations on butter and it arrived the same way mine did. They have a kids menu, which has "real" food on it as well as your regular kid's fare. My 5 year old got the spaghetti and meatballs, one of his favorite dishes, and couldn't finish it all... though he did fill up on the complimentary bread. The meatballs appeared to be the frozen ones you purchase at Sam's Club or Costco: not my "cup o' tea." The service was just okay.

My grouper entree was great... as was the service. It is a large place... with a nice atmosphere.

  • Minh N.

Although the food was good, it was incredibly overpriced. I went here with my brother and his AF buddies after their ABM graduation. We had to wait awhile to get a table but the guy in front was very nice about it and kept us up to date on how much longer we had to wait, apologized for the wait time, and why it was taking so long without being asked. I ordered the shrimp pasta dish and tried my brother's catfish also. Everything was good except for the price. For that kind of price I would have expected the food to blow me away. Alas, I had to settle for pretty good. Next time I'll take the money I could have saved from eating elsewhere and put it toward the payment of my yacht.

  • Thien C.

Dim lighting and waterfront view is beautiful. The service is excellent. Food came out like clockwork. The spicy Thai shrimp tasted just like 'bang bang shrimp' from Bonefish Grill. The Prime Rib had a hickory flavor to it, which was different but delicious. FYI, refills on soda is not free. It wasn't the price that bothered me but the principal.

  • Angela R.

I have been to this restaurant many times and have never had an unacceptable wait time, bad service, or bad food. The ambiance is great. There is outside seating on the water so you can watch the sunset. They have a seared prime rib that is out of this world and great fish dishes like the Grouper Imperial and the Flounder.

  • Kaitlyn A.

Best raw oysters ive had and so inexpensive! By far the best place to eat in PCB as far as price and quality of food. Service was great too. Everyone was polite and helpful. Can't beat the prices compared to all those tourist traps like pineapple willys

One of the best meals we had on our PC Beach visit! I wasn't sure what to expect walking in; honestly I thought it would be a hit or miss just by the looks of it. Well, it was definitely a hit! The restaurant was clean and inviting, and we were sat a window table for a great view of the bay and boat dock. Our server was great - a little sterile - but consistent and attentive. I ordered the Grouper Panama as my entree was really blown away; absolutely delicious! Hubby had the broiled platter and was happy as well. Our server recommended chocolate cake for dessert, so twist my arm, I'll take a slice to go. OMG and holy cow, I think the "slice" of cake weighed 5 lbs! Insanely delicious!! Overall fantastic experience. Can't wait to get back.

Looking for a Great Prime Rib... Look No Further! Thick and Bountiful, Melt-in Your-Mouth goodness. When I come here, it is for the Prime Rib, so I have no opinion on other foods they serve, other than it looks good. I like the bar and the booth-style seats. Other indoor seating arrangements to me seem to be too crowded. I enjoy seeing the marina, the coastal water and boats surrounding the restaurant. My contact with the staff has been nothing less than great. Bartenders are experienced and knowledgeable, as is the serving staff, and very friendly. I personally wouldn't bring small toddlers, or behavior problem children here. This restaurant is pricey, but as an occasional go to place for special moments, I'd recommend it. Just bring plenty to cover the tab, and tip for the servers.

  • Jerry M.

This place is awesome! I had a bowl of gumbo, the Cajun grill and key lime pie. The Cajun Grill comes with a large portion of fish and 5 shrimp all seasoned and grilled to perfection. I got a salad and vegetable medley as sides. The bread is brushed with butter and lightly dusted with Old Bay seasoning! The Key Lime Pie is made in house and tastes great. It's a nice size portion. We were stuffed walking out.

  • Heather W.

Food is very good, but a little on the expensive side. The free rolls are fantastic. Staff is friendly. The atmosphere is a more upscale than some of the other beach restaurants, so coming in strait from the sand would not be comfortable to me.

  • Lindsey C.

Outstanding service, and fantastic food! We had such a great experience here on our vacation that we went back two nights later. The most amazing oysters, mahi mahi, grouper, shrimp, and bacon wrapped scallops. Absolutely phenomenal. The service was incredible. They were very busy, but they catered to our every need. We sat outside for an amazing view. They brought the bartender outside to discuss drinks and what we wanted- go for the St. Andrews punch or the ocean water. So good!! Cannot wait to return.

Yes it's a 4 star. The shrimp is good and they know how to cook it anyway you want it. The shrimp slaw was good too. The nice thing is they have plenty of sides to choose from. The only thing is the wait for food can be long be prepared.

  • Bert W.

Hit or miss. I have been to this place and had the best meal of my life (seafood lacoste) and also been there when it seemed like my presence was an annoyance to every member of the staff. The good experiences have outnumbered the poor ones. The food remains very good, and the atmosphere can't be beat.

Fast, friendly service. She crab soup was very good. Shrimp pompano was excellent, as was the Clemenza's linguine. The only word to describe the Key Lime Pie is WOW! There was a great selection on the menu which made it hard to choose but we were very pleased with our choices. We'll definitely come back.

Mouth watering goodness on the bay! Minutes from everywhere and everything! The staff really knows how to accommodate and your needs as well as wants are never left apart! Indulge in their specials as they are plentiful. An overall joyfull experience!

It was a beautiful restaurant and location was perfect right there by St. Andrews. The she-crab soup was very creamy, had a beautiful roasted taste but it covered up the crab taste. I had grouper with lemon caper sauce topped with lump crab- again the crab taste was overwhelmed by the sauce. I loved the venue but I was underwhelmed by the food. We ordered key lime pie (because tomorrow is Pi day (3-14-15) even though it was not on the menu. Also it was a bit pricey ($23-28 an entre). Still it was a great time with my besties.

  • Bonnie B.

The food in this place is expensive, but usually good. In other words, you get what you pay for. I would give it 5 stars on that alone. My husbands bacon-wrapped scallop appetizer was lukewarm as well as the She-crab soup, but both were good. The Ahi Tuna was cooked to perfection. I ordered the broiled seafood platter. It was nothing special, unfortunately. The service, the last four times we've been there (we only go while on vacation there) has been terrible. We were seated for 10 minutes with no one even acknowledging our presence. Not even an offer of water. Finally my husband went and talked to the hostess and she found someone to take care of us. From then on the waitress couldn't do enough to make up for our waiting. It's questionable as to whether we will take the ride there again.

I personally like the food at the shrimp boat, they have a scallop appetizer that is out of this world. The Delmonico steak is really good and I order it every time. The desserts are pricey but they are huge, three people will probably not be able to finish them.

Expensive menu, good food- gumbo is good and try the cheese-wine dressing with your bread , ask for Josh if you ever go, great service very friendly server and very cute!!! Him being there earns the restaurant an extra star!
