The Mongolian BBQ is wonderful for lunch or dinner. Fresh ingredients, flavorful sauce, perfectly cooked rice and the best hot and sour soup in Panama City. The menu entrees are also very good and far superior to the buffet food served at all the other Chinese restaurants in town.

Great because it is close to home. Food is pretty good and always fresh. Heavy on the onions so be sure to tell them to ease up if they bother you. Hot & sour soup is our favorite compared to others around town.

YUK.... Nice people, nice decor, but wow.... there is ZERO taste or flair to the food here. I had the Chan's Seafood lunch special. It was nothing more than about a half dozen shrimp, about 8 bay scallops and bok choy and brocolli. The broth had no taste at all. The spring roll was tasteless as well. Wife and kids had chicken lo mein and somewhat similar result. If this won the "Best of Bay" for any year, I'm not having any more Chinese food down here.

House of Chan does a good job of serving out tasty dishes in sizable portions with pretty decent service. The style of food seems like a very good version of American-Asian food as opposed to traditional asian preparation, especially with how sweet some of the sauced dishes are, but if this is what you are looking for then House of Chan is a great place to seek it out. The Space: I never had a chance to visit the old location, so I am reviewing based solely on the new place. Very open with plenty of seating for when they get busy (though my last two visits were at the latter half of their lunch hours, so they were not that packed). Nice decor and felt clean. They do have outdoor seating, but with the heat and humidity I would never really consider that option during daylight hours unless I knew beverage refills would be constant. The Food: My last visit I came with a friend around 1:30pm. I ordered their Mongolian barbecue (in the lunch portion) with chicken, ordered "hot" and with steam riced, which also came with a choice of soup (egg drop is my go-to at places like this, especially when I know the dish itself could lean on the sweet side). My friend is vegan and ordered stir-fried eggplant with fried rice in the dinner portion. We were also pleasantly surprised with a free chicken egg roll, though my friend had to pass that along to the carnivore of the table. The egg drop was on par with my previous experiences of egg drop, but noting special. My BBQ was tasty, though I will know to order the hottest option for spice next time, as my dish had absolutely no punch to it whatsoever. The lunch portion was about 4 dollars cheaper but, trust me, this could easily serve as two meals for the typical person, especially considering there was also a cup of soup beforehand. I sampled by friend's dish and thought it was actually quite well-handled. With eggplant, there is so much room for error (soggy, poorly crisped, too saucy, too greasy, etc.) but I thought it came out well and, my goodness, is the portion size on their entrees intense. 3+ meals for the typical eater EASILY. As a side note, the server also brought out 3 sauces with the egg roll: A wasabi mustard which I found much too strong for simply dipping an egg roll in (a little bit will do for sure), a duck sauce that was sweet but valuable for use with my lunch too, and my favorite: the garlic-forward teriyaki. Not too sweet and valuable for giving a little extra flavor to the rice and meal. The Service: So to repeat; free eggroll during lunch was a plus. Perhaps they do that for everyone, but that would mean even more exceptional service than I thought. We did have an issue with the waitress mistakenly giving my friend sweet tea when he ordered unsweet, an issue which many places have trouble with, but not as excusable when there are only 3 other tables occupied. Food was prepared quickly and we were checked on a time or two throughout the meal. PRO TIP: Don't get a to-go drink from them, especially if you ordered a water: they charge .50¢ for the cup. Not cool. House of Chans is a slightly above-average version of this type of food, but portions and variety make it an overall positive experience for eating here.

This place doesn't look like much from the outside but the food is terrific! Very inexpensive menu items for lunch...

The food is delicious. The service friendly and fast. The sweet and sour pork or chicken actually has chunks of bell pepper and pineapple in it! My favorite takeout place!

Tried this place once, both dishes my party tried seemed rather mediocre; in addition to the soups and appetizer... Not terrible, but mediocre.. The sauces seemed very "Ameri-Chin".. The interior of the restaurant has some nice decor, but the food did not seem at all inspiring to me in my one visit.

After living in PC for over 3 years, we finally tried House of Chan a couple weeks ago. Honestly, the reason we waited so long was because from the outside this place doesn't look all that great... BUT, we were pleasantly surprised when we walked in. The lights were dim, but the decor was inviting, clean, and cozy. When you order the Mongolian Barbecue (which is what we ordered [$11.95]), the server gives you a little form to fill out. On the form you choose which meat(s), vegetable(s), and sauce you want. You also get to select which type of soup and rice you'd like to have with your meal. Note: This is a LOT of food. I was able to make 3 meals out of my plate of Mongolian Barbecue. We ordered Pad Thai for our two kids to share. Even they had leftovers to take home. Bottom Line: The Mongolian Barbecue and Pad Thai are yummy and worth trying! I wasn't impressed by the Hot & Sour Soup or the Egg Drop Soup (too thick and kind of slimy...)

We used to love the old House of Chan on the waterfront, so we tried this new one but were disappointed. The food arrived cold and was very bland. Service was slow and we will not go back.

Always so good! We love the sesame chicken and it never disappoints. Our children always finish their meals at House of Chan! We have had several different waiters/waitresses and they are all great! I like to ask for a little chili paste on the side just to give it an extra kick!

The Mongolian BBQ is yummy! We've been dining here for over 20 years....and although I loved the original location/building much better, the food here is still just as good! HUGE portions for reasonable prices. Good egg drop soup too! Fast, always friendly service. This place does NOT disappoint!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
