I have lived in Dubai and Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates and I've visited Beirut, Lebanon where I have eaten a lot, and I do mean a lot, of Middle Eastern food. The Blue Fig Mediterranean Cafe & Grill is truly among the best, if not the best, that I have ever eaten at. I got the hummus which was very similar to most humus dishes I've had everywhere. The falafel was by far the best I've had because it was not oily at all but full of flavor and the texture was crunchy on the outside but moist on the inside. I also ordered the Chicken Kebab Platter. The chicken was definitely the best I've ever eaten because of the grilled flavor and tenderness of the chicken. It literally melted in my mouth. The food is all fresh. Nothing appeared to be prepared ahead of time or from any package. I wish there was a Big Fig in Miami where I live. I'd eat there every day! Obviously, I highly recommend the Big Fig to everyone. It has something for everyone in the family regardless of their taste in food.

This is my third time that I visit the "Blue Fig Mediterranean Restaurant"in three years... The food is always excellent if you want to eat something different than seafood... Recommended...

What a great local place! The Veggie Gryro and the regular Gryro were fabulous. The hummus and baklava tasted homemade. You order at the counter, they give you a number and then bring the food to your table. They do not come back to check you, however, it was worth it for a little inconvenience. Reasonable prices. Would definitely go back.

No way this deserves the stars it got. Went on a Fri night at 7:00, only customers there. Bland shish ka bob with crunchy rice, halfway cooked grilled veggies. Gave it two stars because the falafel appetizer was pretty good. I also found the service lacking as other yelpers stated.

Food was delicious! Just sad that it took forever for them to make my to-go order when I was the only one waiting and they weren't that busy. Waited a good 20 minutes for my food, only reason why they lost a star. Other than that food is amazingly good, would def order again but maybe just order ahead of time before you get there. Try the chicken kabob platter!

I stopped in here for a late lunch, and I wanted something moderately healthy to combat all the fried food I ate the day before. I also didn't want a huge lunch that could potentially spoil my dinner later on, and Blue Fig did the trick! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food was on point. Thanks for being honest, Yelpers! I opted for the Blue Fig salad that had pesto chicken, almonds, and other goodness on mixed greens. I know I was super hungry by the time I ate lunch, but the salad was still fantastic! I felt full without feeling gross or like I'd eaten too much. I was surprised that the pickled ginger worked so well with the salad, too. I'm not much of a ginger fan so I asked for it on the side, and ended up mixing it in after trying a few bites. I also opted for a side of babaganouj, and really enjoyed that too. It had more chunks of eggplant in it than what I'm used to, but the flavor was great! They floated a little EVOO on the top and when mixed, it was super creamy! I also was able to get extra [warm] pita bread upon request without an upcharge. All in all, it was a good place for lunch. I also saw several locals coming and going, so it's gotta be a good spot. However, I thought the prices were a little high, but I think that's more about the area than this restaurant specifically.

Delicious eggplant panini & hot fries! Lunch hour was really busy! Next time I'll go early afternoon to miss the crowd.

Okay food, decent price, abysmal service. Food took forever to come out. One order was wrong. Waited about twenty minutes for the right order. Ordered more food because it wasn't filling, it sat on the counter getting cold for over ten minutes because the fries apparently weren't done. Appetizer wasn't worth the money, Gyro and fries were very okay, chicken wrap was enjoyed.

Decent food but the service was pretty terrible considering there was hardly anyone here. My order was given to me after 20 minutes and it was wrong, waited another 20 to get my order, after being asked multiple times what my order is. The waitresses would clean off another table and pick up dishes from out table while letting our food sit in the window getting cold.

I called in a large take out order for my office. It took an hour, that's ok. The young lady was working really hard to get my order together.. However, all the sandwiches came out wrong. I had the chicken kabob and the chicken was delicious, but veggies over cooked and the yellow rice is about as bland as it gets. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

I've eaten at a lot of stateside Mediterranean restaurants...this was definitely up there with the best. Management made ordering easy, and privides excellent recommendations. The service was snappy, and the food was fresh and prepared/spiced perfectlly...and it was doggone awesome-tasty. This will be a go-to spot for us.

Lovely! Very clean and well designed space. Clear menu with great descriptions of everything. Wonderful service. Place order up front - Kenadie helped us out - and she'll bring everything out to you quickly, kindly. Shawarma was super tasty. Actually the first I've had, so can't compare to the NYC standard. Mahammara also was amazing; lots of flavor and presented well. Overall very impressed with this charming establishment in PC.

Fast service, everything tasty. The chicken on the kabob platter was juicy and delicious. Noisy! Needs something to buffer the sound.

The blue fig salad is divine! My husband always has the pollo blue fig, and it is equally good. The restaurant is loud, so not the place to go if you have hearing deficiencies.

Outstanding food at a reasonable price with good service. I describe this place as upscale quality food without the upscale price and snooty formal dress code. Wife and I tried the Beef Kufka/Burger with Hummus appetizer, and finished with the Turkish coffee. One cool thing they have is a container of pepperoncini peppers/pickles/pickled jalapeno available for use as condiments for the food. They also have some Mediterranean/middle eastern desserts available if you are still hungry after lunch/dinner. Inside of restaurant is very clean, and restroom was a lot cleaner than many other restaurants I have been at. There is another Mediterranean/Greek joint in Panama City on 23rd St., but this place has better quality and variety. You can tell the chef knows what he's doing and takes pride in his work after tasting the food. For those with picky young kids who don't want to vary from standard American cuisine (i.e. pizza, Mac & Cheese, etc...), they do have a limited kids menu.

Not the best falafels but if you have ever had any from NYC then it is hard to compare them. Again, not the best but they were pretty damn awesome and I am SOO glad that Panama City is getting more Mediterranean food in the area. I had the Tabouli salad and the Baba ghanoush which was delicious. The only problem I had was that the Tabouli salad had wayyy too much parsley. Though as I understand it... that is normal in some parts of Middle Eastern & Mediterranean food. Or maybe not. Correct me if I'm wrong. Get extra Tahini sauce if you plan on getting Falafels. Can't wait to go again. Oh! And the service and staff were great the entire time.

I came to lunch here with my sister and was extremely impressed by the authentic food and extremely friendly staff. The inside was lovely and bright and the patio, which is where we dined, had mosaic glass tables with umbrellas and a friendly, fun atmosphere. I ordered the Gyro which came with hummus and a warm piece of pita bread to dip. It was drenched in yummy olive oil and tasted amazing! The Gyro and tzatziki sauce was to die for and my sister's Mediterranean Chicken wrap was equally as great. Overall, this has to be one of the best lunch spots in Panama City.

Good food! Wife had the rustica chicken sandwich and I ordered the shish kabob platter. Only thing we can say bad is the tea was stale.

Went here for dinner. The staff was SUPER FRIENDLY. The food.. not so authentic but good.. I've had better. I got the Shawerma Chicken with Hummas and lentil soup. The shawerma chicken was not your typical tender super thinly silced chicken. It was good but a bit dry. Hummas was not as good as I had hoped. It needed lots of garlic. It was too creamy(As in too much olive oil ) not enough flavor.. not enough paprika.. The Tiziki sauce was difefrent! Itwas more like a garlic paste that seemed as if it was made with sour cream. The lentil soup was AAMMAAZING! just how it's supposed to be = ) Overall the portions were great, the service was great and the place was very clean! I would def eat there again, but perhaps for lunch.

I'm not going to get into a discussion about the authenticity of this restaurant. Since I'm about as white as you can get, I couldn't tell you what region of the Mediterranean or Middle East the shawarma is from. All I can tell you is that the food is good. My wife and I both got the falafel wrap. It was quite tasty. Honestly I've never had falafel that good in Panama City. The eggplant panini is also quite good. They have a simple kids menu with ordinary kid food, but you have to ask for it. The service was quick and friendly. The only reason that I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of ambiance or atmosphere. They have done a good job redecorating the building they are in, but the white walls could use a little bit of livening.

Love Love LOVE this place! My family and I eat here several times each month. There is something for everyone, even our 4 year old loves "the fig" :) One of my favorite items is the pollo blue fig, a cashew crusted chicken with an amazing mango habanero sauce, rice pilaf and the always tasty fresh grilled veggies! Great customer service, clean and friendly place to eat!

Excellent food and service. We are brand new to town and decided to try it out and were pleasantly surprised. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because for a shared $25 entree there wasn't a salad or appetizer included. Regardless, you will not be disappointed here.

Good, fresh tasting Arab food. this is basically Palestinian style Arabic food, the owners are from Jerusalem. they serve gyros and "Greek salad", but basically the food seems to be Arab style, with some Italian stuff like Panini sandwiches and some pasta (for Greek stuff try Kabob House, one block away) the "Mediterranean" label is conveniently vague. this is an order and pay at the counter place, where one gets a number and the food is brought to one's table. Pretty large menu, lots of different salads and sides to choose from. The restaurant has lots of windows, nice blue neon outside makes the place very hard to miss.. Despite the name there is actually nothing on the menu which contains figs as far as I could see.. Strange that they decided to open a "mediterranean" restaurant one block away from the other "mediterranean" restaurant in town (Kabob House), but actually the two places are rather different : Kabob House is owned by Uzbeks and serves Greek, Uzbek, and Russian style foods; whereas the food here is definitely very Arab/Palestinian in style with some Italian influences like the panini and pasta..

The owner of this restaurant cares about quality and does his best to put forth something healthful, tasty and delicious for a reasonable price. Everything we've tried is tasty... our favorite is a non-traditional gyro (with pickles) and hummus. Yummy!

I must say, I was impressed by my first visit to the Blue Fig. The restaurant was much more polished than I expected, with a clean and modern dining room and a professional menu board. Orders are placed at the counter, rather akin to a fast food restaurant. You are given a number and the food is brought to your table. The menu was not quite as "Mediterranean" or exotic-ethnic as I'd hoped, but that doesn't mean there weren't plenty of choices. Much of the menu seemed to be comprised of rather mundane fare, including salads, wraps, and even a burger. In the interest of going all out and getting the full ethnic cuisine experience which we set out to attain, the Mrs. and I both ordered kabobs. Hers was a chicken kabob platter, well portioned, and using chicken thighs. I thought the chicken was rather dry, and, as one might expect from chicken thighs, rather fatty. I ordered the kufta kabob, which appeared to be a molded meat in the gyro tradition, probably beef or lamb. It was delicious! Even better, the rice pilaf and roasted vegetables (bell pepper, zucchini, and such) were fresh and flavorful. Normally rice pilaf doesn't get me excited, but the rice had a delightful clean flavor (not overly butter or greasy like you will find at many establishments). Pepsi is served at a soda fountain in the dining room, allowing you to help yourself to refills. The staff was friendly, well-groomed, and all-around professional. I had expected some sort of bread, perhaps pita, to accompany my kabob. I was rather disappointed to find that this is not the case. Several times we were approached by the staff to see if we needed anything else. Upon being asked if we wanted any pita bread, I answered in the affirmative and inquired about the cost. The gentleman waved off this request and said he would bring us a basket of pita bread with a sampling of their various dips to try. Needless to say, I was impressed by the gesture. It was good old fashioned customer service of the kind that leads to positive word of mouth and return customers. The pita bread was warm and tasty. Nothing special, but good nonetheless. The dips, however, were amazing, and this includes some of the best hummus I've ever had in a restaurant! The other two dips were just as good, even though they were quite foreign to my palate. One, the baba ganoush contains eggplant and was probably my favorite out of all three. The muhammara contained red bell pepper (if memory serves) and had a red color to boot. Also very good. In summation, the Blue Fig is a very good restaurant and one I will definitely be patronizing again. I hope my fellow locals will work up the courage to try something out of the ordinary (though I fear as a group we may be considered somewhat provincial in this regard) and keep this fine establishment in business for many years to come.

I had dinner here for the first time last night. My new favorite restaurant. The server was very nice. I ordered the Blue Fig Salad. The food presentation and my salad was excellent! I had 3 other ladies in my group. Two of us got wraps & two got salads. We all loved it! Highly recommend this restaurant.

Went for lunch yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. The food was very, very good, nice size portions and inexpensive. The restaurant decor is beautiful. It provides a nice, relaxing atmosphere and is extraordinarily spotlessly clean. You order and pay for your food at the counter and someone will bring it out to you - it's much faster than a fast food join. The service was superior. They come back a few times to check if you need anything else. My wife and I will definitely eat here often.

Food was very Good! Service was just right. Prices range from $4.25 to $13. Most meals averaging around $7 each. For 2 adults and 2 children, the meal total was $33.00. The Hummus and Muhammara was excellent! It tasted as if it was made fresh that day. You will not leave hungry. The decor was really nice inside and I loved the way you had windows on 3 sides. I would recommend this to anyone who has a taste for Mediterranean style food or if you are just looking to try something new. I will be coming back again real soon.

We love the fig. They have a varied menu and will tailor any dish to suit your taste...so if you are afraid of venturing out to a Mediterranean restaurant...no fear. They also have dishes like a philly cheese steak for the real faint of heart. This would be an awesome place for dinner if they had beer and wine.
