They get two stars for the excellent ocean view, and one for the exceptional service. I'd give a half for the bar, but they don't let you do that here at Yelp. Mental note it. What Charley's Crab loses two huge stars for is the terrible chain eatery food, retarded kitchen staff, and the Stuffed Shrimp a-la-Draino, which gave me an unexpected and unwelcomed hi-colonic about 3am. Once upon a time, there was a Charley. He, his wife and some friends bravely sailed off into Hurricane Andrew to keep his yacht out of port, and were never heard from again. His daughter owned the restaurant chain for a time, then sold it to Landry's Restaurants, which promptly converted most of the chain to the Chart House brand of restaurants which were great back in the 1970s but, under their stewardship, have, in my opinion, been nothing short of mediocre. They had to keep the Charley's name here because tony Palm Beach was not having a Chart House sitting amongst the multi-million dollar manses on the shore. For the company that owns steakhouses like Mortons and Saltgrass, you'd think they'd get decent meat in here. Not only did the kitchen blow my steak temp (well rather than rare), but the cut was this pathetically sandy, tenderized mush even when it came back medium on the second try. I shared two of their crab-stuffed shrimp, embarrassing in their U-12-20 size for a restaurant charging $22 for the plate of six. My kid who had them was moved to prayer before the porcelain god within a couple of hours. I managed to make it all the way to 3am before the poorly prepared crustaceans did their rendition of Alien on my stomach and then made a break for the sea. Wonderful view, with food incompetently prepared that compares favorably to Sizzler, at Morton's prices, confirming the sad truth that there are very few oceanside eateries worth a damn. Bernsteins at the Omphoy remains the only champ in that category in Palm Beach County.

I stumbled upon this place as it was one of the few restaurants that could handle a party of 7 at the last minute. Tip: they offer free valet, so be sure to park at the restaurant. The ambiance was upscale, but it didn't feel like a seafood restaurant. It is right on the ocean, which helps in making the experience interesting, but there wasn't anything special inside. I had a seasonal dish that included a grilled flounder with crab on top. The fish was cooked to perfection, but the sauce could have used a bit more of a kick. It seemed a bit bland, which made the dish just ok. Meal price. = $31.99. The other meals in my party reminded me of dishes you would see at a wedding. A little serving of vegetables, mashed potatoes, and the fish. Again, good were the comments, but nothing that different. As part of the meal, the staff brought out warm jalapeño bread with a matching house made butter. This was absolutely delicious. They also included several other different types of breads and butters. The beers were fair - $6.00 for drafts. On the service side, the staff was extremely attentive and very helpful. They all had great attitudes and knew the menu inside and out. 3 stars because while it was nice, this wasn't anything drastically different from other fancier seafood restaurants. The meals were ok, but not knock your socks off. All in, not bad at all.

Donna C. Wildwood, IL First I definately love the location. I decided to go for Happy Hour and sit at the bar. Jennifer was the bartender and she would definately be a reason to go back. She was great at suggesting items and we had a wonderful conversation. I had a mojito and like most places I found in West Palm the drink was on the weak side, but I understand having been in the bar business for years (measure measure). I ordered the steamed dumplings then decided to move to a table to enjoy the view. The dumplings were great, but could have used just a tad bit more sauce. I should have stuck to just appetizers cause as I watched others some of the stuff coming out looked awesome, but I decided to order dinner which turned out to be my mistake. The fish was very fresh but the lemon butter sauce just didn't do the wonderful piece of black grouper any justice, and the green beans and rice were just sub-par. All in all I would go back, sit by Jen, order appetizers and enjoy the view!

3.5 Stars for this particular visit Great view and so it can be romantic as well. Apptzr: Crab, Avocado & Mango tower - very good and a nice combo of flavors-mango was excellent touch. Me: pan seared Mahi Mahi was cooked perfect. It came with orzo but unfortunately was very sticky - guessing they used too much water or cooked it too long. Wife: Key Lime Snapper - first one was way over cooked. Second was right on the mark. Great flavor....too bad she had to eat alone. Desert: key lime was good. Drinks: special shout out to bartender. We both had the Mango Mojitos and they were excellent ! Server: Patricia was very nice but was somewhat slow and we had to go to hostess for assurance a couple times. Not sure if she was overloaded on tables tonight.

The place has everything to be good except the food is so so bad! Service: great, informative, attentive. Tuesday did an awesome job making sure we were happy. But when all of our was just terrible we figured there was nothing she could do about it. Only reason this is 2 instead of 1 star is the excellent service. Atmosphere:upper scale beach style with a gorgeous view of the water. I got the lobster and Brie stuffed sole and it tasted like frozen tilapia. The pasta that came with it tasted like it had been sitting in a pan for hours. Oh and we got there for a very early dinner at 5:30pm. Summer prix fix menu. My appetizer was actually good, fried oysters but a little unbalanced with the flavors. Another person got the key lime snapper which was so dry it was hard to eat and was the rice that was served with it was tasteless. Off the summer prix fix. Another person got the grouper off the regular member and it looked terrible and he said is T tasted like it had been previously frozen. The member of our party who ordered steak actually enjoyed his...but why is the steak the best thing at a seafood restaurant? We also got an app of calamari which was tasty, beet salad which was pretty but bland, a side of Brussels sprouts which had to be boiled instead of roasted because they were disgusting. Dessert we a Had chocolate tort and crime brule, both very yummy. All is all we love trying new places and are usually pretty easy to please so this was a major disappointment. Many many other excellent options.

My bf & I went to Charley's Crab in June for my birthday weekend. We were recommended by Eau Resort after expressing my craving for crab legs. My bf called ahead to let them know it was my bday & requested a table beside the window so we could see the ocean. (the ocean is across the street but can still be seen)When we arrived we were pleasantly greeted by the hostess. She immediately wished me a Happy Birthday & greeted us by our first name which I was impressed with. Once we were brought to our table I was pleasantly surprised with a "black" napkin, and a "VIP" card which was a very nice touch to make me feel special for the occasion. When they handed us the menu's they had customized them to say, "Charley's Crab Palm Beach wishes Kassie A Very Happy Birthday." Such a neat idea & made me feel pretty important. They also wrapped up the menu's & let us take them home at the end of the meal. Our server was very friendly & being a former server couldn't have asked for better service. We started off with cocktails. My bf had a beer & I had their version of a Moscow Mule with berry's & what seemed like dry ice. It was sizzling with steam for a good 10 min..while it was quite tasty there was so much crushed ice in the copper tin I literally took 2 sips & it was gone..I didn't want to complain but I felt like for a $12 drink there should have been a little more. I mentioned it to the server & he agreed there was an abundant of ice & happily brought me another with less ice & free of charge. Dinner started with complimentary bread/butter & a cream cheese with crab meat mixed in which was quite delicious! For an appetizer I got the lobster bisque soup which was to die for!! HIGHLY recommend the soup! It was very filling as well! For the main course I chose the Alaskan King crab legs served with a baked potato & my bf chose the filet mignon served with mashed potatoes. The price for the crab legs read "market" so I was unaware of the cost until we received the bill. The amount of crab legs I received was overwhelming & HUGE, however the quality was lacking. Some of the pieces of crab was juicy but over all it was quite rubbery & tough. My bf's steak upon arrival did not look very appealing. The middle had a purple color instead of a reddish/pink. I didn't try his steak but he said it was very "bland." Dinner was wrapped up with a complimentary birthday creme brulee. I am not a big fan of creme brulee but it was still pretty tasty. Our bill was around $150. Come to find out the crab legs were around $55 which for the quality of taste shouldn't have been more than $25 in my opinion. My bf's steak was $36. The 3 stars is based strictly on the food. While our service, atmosphere & the preparation to make my birthday dinner memorable was spot on the food just wasn't up to par. Would I come again? Maybe for happy hour or strictly cocktails; but definitely not for a full blown meal.

This was one of my most favorite places for a long time: my parents *loved* the happy hour at the bar, which -- one can order from the menu from there -- and we watched a hurricane roll in from the giant windows once. They renovated the dining room into tacky "new" "high end" Italian (totally obnoxious), while maintaining the food quality. Brought some work colleagues there, to our communal pleasure. But the last time I visited, the food took over an hour to arrive. I met (quietly) with the manager, who said, "oh wait, your order is here" and I said, I'm not going to pay for fish I have waited a solid hour for, and I had to track you (the manager) down to even get a status update, it is not at my table, and I'm not paying. Gah. I hate it when it happens.

This is upscale seafood for non-foodies. The portions are large, they use a lot of sauces. You get a large cut of meat and a small side dish. Don't expect to finish your entree and have room for dessert. They are similar in style to pb grill, bricktops and taboo, but with seafood. The service and food were good but my favorite part is the other patrons. One group was talking about strip clubs almost the entire time, those are my kind of bros! Another time I was there I saw this older guy tell off this mom for letting her kids run around all crazy. I wanted to give him a high five but he looked too mean for that to go over well.

This is a local secret for me and I love to come here enjoy some great food along with a cocktail. If you lucky enough to come for Happy Hour then you can get a treat. Awesome small portions for happy hour which gives you a chance to sample a small portion of the menu. Good luck finding a seat during season, but during off season it is not a problem. Keep up the great work Charleys!

Surprised at the mediocre reviews. Who are these people? Judge their reviews by their language skills. Charley's Crab is our favorite restaurant when we visit anywhere in the area.. Palm or West Palm Beach, Del Rey, Boca...this week we're in Boca all week, and once again 4 of us had a delicious meal, with excellent service. I had the crab cakes, to "die for," and the others had mahi mahi, ahi tuna, and scallops, all delicious, including the sides. We got the scallops and the coconut shrimp appetizers to share. Pricey at about $40 a person (0nly one person had alcohol), but worth it.

FYI...Inspectors found flying insects, roaches and rats. There were 60 fresh rodent droppings in the kitchen area, and a dead rat in a trap. I can't find a response from their management on how this was fixed. This saddens me because I used to enjoy this place.

At first we sat for 20 minutes without a drink . no server came by and at the 15 mark my fiance got up and said something to the hostess. I also asked to be moved sections at that point because I no longer wanted to be served by the waiter who had initallt ignored us. So we moved to Adrian section and from that point on he was our server and he was excellent. Evrything was prompt fresh and delicious . the manager came by and apologized for the inconvenience and she comped out appetizer which was greatly appreciated and we accepted forgiving our initial experience. We then enjoyed the rest of our evening and we are glad we stayed. We almost got up and left because we wernt greeted but when the night was over we were happy we changed our minds.

Don't come here expecting anything remotely young or hip. They definitely cater to an older crowd, and everyone dresses up, even for lunch and even though it's not an overly fancy place itself. Food was only ok. Personally I'd rather drive to Breakers and have lunch pool side. Costs more, but worth it in the end. 233/365
The complimentary valet and the view of the ocean (which is only something to talk about during the day) are the best features this Palm Beach warhorse has going for it. At 7:30 on a Saturday David, our server was inattentive all evening; acted as though he was overloaded, toward the end of the evening, over servicing two other tables, and ignoring ours. When we arrived, the front of the restaurant was full, maybe 16 tables and about 4 servers. 7:30 Saturday night, there was no wait. As the evening progressed , he walked back and forth without turning his head to our table; just a glance and he would have known we needed attention. Things started out OK...he was slow to bring the bottle of wine after our cocktail glasses were empty. My water glass was empty several times. With only a few tables, he made it a point to deliver everywhere but near our table. We had to ask for bread. We had to ask him to deliver our bottle of wine. Each time he seemed surprised that it was not there. There was no bus help all night...then as we went to pay our check, a bus boy appeared to deliver water. Seriously? My plain grilled fish was slimy and tasted funny; and I have never met a fish I didn't like. The orzo tasted odd and unpalatable as well.. the know-it-all server patronized me and said (like I may not know) that it was just plain jasmine rice. (It was not..it was supposed to be some sort of Parmesan orzo.). He again went away. Not attempted to even offer to fix the growing problem. My husband got up and went to look for the hostess who had vanished, and finally asked the only good server in the place (the woman who had the table behind me) for some mango salsa to mask the flavor. When server David saw that THEN he ran over to talk to her..(not us) and never once asked me if the preparation was not to my liking when he delivered the salsa. It did not help. He never checked back. I tried one more taste and left the full fork on my plate with 3/4 of the fish untouched. When he came to clear 15 minutes later, after clearing the whole table, he came to me last and he asked if he could wrap it up. I told him it was the worst thing I have ever eaten at a Muer or Landry restaurant. It was now about 9:30 and the whole table was done eating and cleared: he then asked if he could bring me something else. I declined and told him take it away. I paid $32 for the worst dish I have ever ordered and not eaten... then he sold the rest of the table coffee and dessert. Dad ordered a Bailey's neat and it came in a tall skinny fluted glass....he spilled it right after service. After almost 10 minutes I got up from the table to go find the server. (That was the second time we had to do it.) David the server claimed all hands were on deck for prep for Sunday Brunch but when we left we saw only white table cloths on tables in back room: nothing more. Not to mention I saw him walk back and forth on the other side of the open wall and as we were waving for him..NOT ONCE in 5 passes did he ever tilt his head to look in our direction. There is no excuse in the world for poor, lackluster, inattentive service and sub par food quality and preparation. Of the old Muer and new Landry's chain, this Charley's Crab seems to try and rest on it's laurels and egos and tried to let it's oceanfront Palm Beach location make up for it's shortcomings. We are Locals, an let me add that it is not working. Every visit we say it will be our last. This unit needs to get it's act together or it will go the sad way of all the other Charley's Crab locations. Ego is not enough, and you can't "fix" a bad experience after the patrons have left the restaurant. $265 later, I would have expected more.

The waiter, the food and the view were wonderful. Unfortunately I had trouble enjoying my gastronomic delight because the hostess with an arm sling was drumming her ringed fingers on the counter directly behind me. Very distracting and annoying, not what I expect from Charles Crab...

Really disappointed. We called ahead a couple times to confirm that we reserved a table in the front room with an ocean view. But arrived only to be escorted to the back dining area - no view. So disappointed - we walked out. And unfortunately will probably never go back again given the false promises by their hostess staff.

Took my girlfriend here for Valentines Day dinner. Food was phenomenal. We started with the oysters. They were good, except they weren't cleaned really well. I got the snapper dinner and she got the grouper. Presentation was great along with the service. Cute little place for a date, right by the water. Highly recommend.

This place is a disappointment. I took my family there based on a recommendation from our hotel staff. The concierge made reservations, upon arrival our table wasn't ready. Once we were seated and ordered our drinks we were introduced to our new waitress. Then we ordered our food... Thinking all would go well the waitress informed us that half the items we ordered were not available. This was 20 minutes after we ordered. Why wait so long to inform us that they ran out of food that are common menu items. Then we had the pleasure to speak with the Manager. Not so friendly or accommodating.. We said ok must of had a busy week. Then we waited longer for the bread to arrive. Long story we waited an hour with no bread our drinks went dry, so we left and went to a better establishment that has experience in hospitality and food inventory. Never again will I put my family through this incompetence.
Had dinner here 3 out of 4 nights while in Palm Beach...the first 2 were 4 star, last visit was 3 star due to over cooked food. Service is wonderful..give them a try...We will be back

I had a couple of happy hour drinks at the bar and the tacos. My expectations were low as I've had a bad experience before. Ill never eat dinner here again. I had a long black hair in my tacos that I pulled out right in front of the bartender. So disgusting! My friends apps were also subpar. They also only had canned juices for cocktails. I like greyhounds but not with canned grapefruit juice. With so many great restaurants in Palm Beach its a shame this gorgeous location is wasted on this dump.

Charley's Crab is a great atmosphere definitely a place to celebrate an occasion. The food is outstanding and the service is as well from the Valet to the hostess and our waitress Terisa was so attentive and made great recommendations. There is a rewards card that gives you money back on your points and on your birthday. I totally recommend my only negative is I would skip dessert they miss the mark on the sweets but the meal is so filling who needs it.

Full disclosure: I am writing this review from the standpoint of someone who does not eat seafood, but who goes with others who do like seafood because there's always something else we can have. If you're that person, I'd say this place is not for you. Let your friends go and have a wonderful seafood meal -- which everyone else raved about -- and go to a different place. I ordered the filet, which I always order medium well and it always makes chefs roll their eyes because a filet should basically walk out to your table. But every restaurant worth its salt has had chefs that butterfly the filet and cook it exactly the way I like it. This restaurant, this steak came out well done, not medium well, and was rather dry. The mashed potatoes on the side were excellent -- and I ordered a side of grilled asparagus which were also excellent. There were not a lot of non-seafood options for appetizers, which ended up to be fine - the main course was more than enough! Had a glass of Merlot, which was disappointing, and while yes, they are located right by the ocean, in the evening you can't see anything, so unless you plan to include a walk on the beach after your meal, I don't know that their location is necessarily a selling point -- except for the gorgeous houses you pass on your way! Now, for the folks who eat seafood who truly belong here! Everyone else said their meals were outstanding. The winner at the table was the Snapper Hemingway, and again, the side baked potato, which came fully loaded, was raved about. And for all of us, the service was excellent, from the hosts at the beginning to our very pleasant, knowledgeable server. So, seafood lovers -- get thee to Charley's and have a great time. Others? Go elsewhere and pretend you know what they're talking about when your friends go on about how wonderful the clams and everything else was!

It's just so Palm Beach! Love lunch there when you can look out and see the ocean. Love their Bloody Mary's, crab cakes, and ahi tuna. Can't go wrong, while expensive it is just off Worth and "worth" it!

The chopped spinach salad was the best salad I've ever had at a restaurant (and not just because there was baconbaconbacon on it). Our server was very attentive and folded my boyfriend's napkin when he got up to go to the bathroom. Jumbo lump crab crakes were good as well. Only downside was the rude valet guy and the fact that they force you to valet your car against your will

I've come to Charley's Crab whenever I am lucky enough to come down to Palm Beach and escape the NY winters for a bit. It is a bit on the fancy side and it feels like a place to be seen, but I don't mind. Palm Beach has that feeling in general. The staff is usually nice and accomodating and I love how they are located across the street from the ocean. Also free valet! That helps tip it to the fancy side for me. Drinks- cocktails are the way to go! The margarita is great and so is the manhattan. Eats- I've covered some pretty decent ground here food wise. I love the cheddar jalapeno biscuits they bring along with the rest of the bread. I always take them all for myself:) The mahi mahi grilled has been good sometimes but dry other times. My recommendation is to skip the fish and go for the seafood. Crunchy shrimp is good and the crab cake is AWESOME (albeit a bit rich with the butter sauce). I do like their coconut rice - always a must get. Don't always do dessert but the chocolate cake is yummmmy. Always a fun spot to go when in town!

This place had some of the best food that I have ever tasted! It is located right on Palm Beach. This was the first restaurant that my husband and I visited when we arrived and let me just say that the bar has been set very high for the rest of our stay. We had the Dynamite Scallops which were the best! We also has coconut shrimp which were pretty good as well, the Seafood Mixed Grill was awesome, and the Parmesan Crusted Cod was absolutely mind blowing!!!! I recommended this place to everyone that we came across during our stay. Even the bread was great for the carb lovers. Lol. Yum!!

Excellent service, went on Valentine's Day and had a great time. The Landry's card was not pushed as other people has been complaining about. Our server was excellentand the chef even went out of his way to make my halibut the way I requested even though it wasn't on the menu. Overall excellent experience well worth the price.

We were here on vacation and chose this restaurant for its location. It was great. We had the shrimp cocktail appetizer. The shrimp were huge and the cocktail sauce was the best I've ever had. The dinner rolls were delicious. For entrees I had the shrimp fresca and my husband had the ahi. Both were average. The entrees were the most disappointing part of the meal. They were somewhat bland. The portions were large though. We shared a chocolate molten cake and it was also fantastic.

Disappointing. Although the location was nice, the wait staff was only so-so. Every time the guy would refill a water glass, you had to watch out for flying ice & water (a) from spraying you while he poured & (b) on the floor when you walked away from the table. But the worst part was the food. The toast was stale on the club sandwich. The raw oysters were tiny & not cleaned at all. The salmon burger was a store-bought, pre-made, frozen patty rather than fresh. And, it was 75% breadcrumbs. They could almost advertise that "no salmon were harmed in the making of their salmon burger." There are enough places in the area to not have to settle for this place, & we won't be returning.

Lots of confusion from upper management. Young waitresses did a good job. Had a large party here - and there was unnecessary problems that stemmed from their failure to communicate between managers. Food was good

If you're vegetarian, stop reading this instant. Do not think of coming here. If you must, eat beforehand and just drink alcohol here (I think their alcohol is vegetarian!). If you're vegan, well... this place is better suited to protest than patronize. We came here for a nice dinner, and I was the only vegetarian. Unfortunately, none of the entrees (and almost none of the appetizers) were meat-free. Nor the soups. Usually I feel put upon when there is one measly pasta main course at a restaurant, offered by a beleaguered chef to pacify us vegetarians... but it's been quite a while since I've seen zero. Get with the 21st century, Charley's Crab! When I'm paying a lot of money for food, I want more than a side dish or two.

Ok I read some of the reviews and it may be people who get paid for the reviews but don't open their eyes. I am local and have been to CC a few times. I went for a business lunch since I had out of town vendors who wanted to go there. Great location overlooking the water. The oysters were good but nothing special. The clam chowder was the star of the show. No bread or anything on the table. Crab cake sandwich was under cooked and had so so flavor. A little issue that they could have handled in a better way.

Perfect place for Sunday brunch - we shared the calamari appetizer, which was light and tender and then had the Maryland Benedict and the crab and asparagus omelette, both of which were tasty and delicious, with generous amounts of crab meat. Highly decadent and most definitely recommended was the Grand Marnier souffle dessert. Oh, my! Light, fluffy, delicious, creamy - we shared it and finished every spoonful. The person who took our reservation knew it was our wedding anniversary and went to the trouble of printing out a special menu with our names on it, to take home - a nice, personal touch. Great view of the ocean, enhanced by by a glass of champagne! Would like to come back for dinner, to try out their seafood.

Food is good but over-priced. Bill for seven of us was around $500, and that's with no alcohol, no lobster, no crab legs, etc. - just regular fish dishes. For example, the poke appetizer is pretty tasty. But it's $15 and the amount of fish in it is tiny. Calamari appetizer is $13 and the amount of squid in it is pitiful (do you know how cheap squid is?). The price is partially a function of the neighborhood this place is in. It's a place where people drive their Bentleys and Maseratis to their docked yachts... when it's too windy to ride the helicopter to the helipad on their docked yachts. On a company expense account, this place is fine. With my own money, I won't be going back.

I recently was in West Palm Beach and looking for a seafood place for lunch. I came across Charley's Crab and was happy I did. The restaurant is in a nice location that has a great view of the ocean. There is also free valet parking. I did feel a bit underdressed for how the restaurant looked, but the hostess said I was absolutely fine in shorts for lunch. I'm glad I was able to eat here because from the moment I sat down the staff were attentive and helpful. The waiter made great suggestions and I ordered the Crab BLT for lunch. This was a delicious choice, which I would definitely get again. The sandwich had a ton of crab on it and was flavorful. The mayonnaise/dressing mixture did not weigh it down either. The waiter checked on the table numerous times to see if drinks needed to be refilled or if we wanted anything else.

Lobster grilled cheese is a must have!!! Goes well with their lobster bisque dipping sauce (which tastes a little like alcohol?). Thank goodness they have valet also because parking is hard to find in the area if you don't live there.

The food was barely eatable as the seafood had a bad odor. Staff were aware of our gross dissatisfaction with the food but never offered to do anything about it. The service seemed good at first, however, we were told to join the "landry's select club" (although it would cost $25) that everyone would receive $25 birthday reward that I place on my account--a lie that I discovered later that night--and that the waiter would place enough points on our account that night to equal another $25 reward in addition to the $25 sign up bonus--another lie. We noticed every server around us pushing this reward card so I suspect there is a hefty commission to the server for selling it. But I am offended, I didn't pay $198 for three meals to go to a timeshare presentation or in this case a reward card presentation and BE THE VICTIM OF LIES!!! I called the manager that night once I discovered the lies but she aggressively defended the waiter even saying that she was certain that this waiter would not lie. I asked her to simply talk to him about this specific issue so no others become his victims and the next day I get an email that all my reward points, my birthday reward, and my sign up reward of $25 was all removed from my account plus a negative balance of -250. I called corp but they said it was done by Charly's Crab Palm Beach and that I need to call them of which I did, again the manager was not friendly or reasonable, she said she did it and that there was nothing I could do about it. So my recourse is this review. I am a business owner who simply cannot understand this way of business, i.e., scamming.

My wife and I's second night in West Palm beach and we found ourselves looking on yelp for a spot to eat not knowing what we would find when we found Charley's Crab. To our surprise it's an upscale restaurant and we're wearing our 49er jerseys, shorts and flip flops WITH a 5 month old child in a car seat and stroller feeling a little out of place... BUT, they were very accommodating by giving us a larger table and not caring about our attire and child. Our waitress Tuesday and the rest of the staff were fabulous, they didn't treat us like we weren't wearing the "proper clothing". Besides the staff awesome, the food was FANTASTIC!!!! We had the Dymamite Scallops for an appetizer and like the waitress said they're "cause for a repeat" (which they are) I had the filet and lobster and couldn't have been more happy with my choice. My wife had the Mahi Mahi and she loved it also! The portions were exact, not too much & not leaving us still wanting more! We also had the Chocolate Truffle Cake, I was kind of skeptical of getting chocolate truffle cake since I'm not big on chocolate but to my surprise it wasn't too chocolaty and we devoured it! All in all the wine, service, food, and even the price was just perfect!! I would highly recommend this place to anyone who's in the area to experience their excellent food and service.

As someone else mentioned, our hotel recommended this place when we said we wanted a local seafood place. I was surprised at how fancy it was. I was wearing shorts and a tshirt and felt like people were staring when we walked in. Food was decent. I tried the crab and avocado salad, which was good but had too much dressing. Crab Club was really good, though tiny, skinny French fries were weak. Really nice view of the ocean though! 319/365

This was an excellent experience. Fellow yelpers helped me to find this. I had the Maine lobster. It was perfectly cooked and then cracked for me at tableside. The chopped spinach salad was also excellent. This was a Friday night and my server was outstanding. Interestingly, when he got really busy, the manager stepped up so I had no break in service. I'd come back for sure.

Great creative food with excellent taste, to expensive though. Servers are really awful and stuck up, so we always sit at the bar. The bartenders there are such funny, great people, and you get much better service with them.

Ambiance and view are spectacular! Food was yummy and drinks weren't watered down. My only issue is the price, but you kinda have to pay for it to get this level of service and food. Honestly, I should've booked this place for my wedding.

Unfortunately, the food is not consistent. From what I gathered from the wait staff, they can't seem to keep anyone in the kitchen for long. That is a very bad sign when your money maker doesn't want to stay. I'm guessing there is a management issue in the kitchen, especially when the restaurant was closed a few months ago because of rats and an unsanitary kitchen. I tried it again and unfortunately, it doesn't come close to past experiences. Not a good sign for the future of Charley's Crab.
This is a special place for a celebration - you can request a customized, keepsake menu. Try the Gazpacho, which my mom says is the best (none of those frappe-ed mixer concoctions -- this one is chunky); oysters; and either the starter-sized or entree-sized crabcake offerings. Very good food. Pricey but worth it: the dining room is lovely. They don't miss a step.

We will definitely come back. It had it all...great menu, gorgeous view and delightful service.

This restaurant is operated by Landry's corporation and the server was trained to aggressively upsell and obnoxiously suggested that we sign up for the Landry's frequent dining card. She argued with us and wouldn't leave our table when we refused to acquire the card. I was told she was a new employee so clearly this is how Landry's corporation trains their employees at their various restaurants. The dining experience was horrible.

I guess all can have a bad night, but, this was simply the worst upscale dining experience of my life. Service was awful, food three out of six meals were over done and dry. Sad to see such an classic go so far down. I should have know when they have giant event special being advertised at front door similar to a Denny's. I am guessing the locals have already figured this out because on Saturday night it was empty....

My sweets had a gift card for this restaurant and we thought it would be a good place to have our New Years Eve dinner. All I have to say is very disappointing. I expected something spectacular from the famous Charley's Crab House on Palm Beach. The food was so-so. Definitely left there feeling unsatisfied. Kind of felt like assembly line cooking. Maybe because they get big crowds there on the holiday? I don't know but something was not right. The best part of the evening was the mojito that I had. Very good. Overall I have had much better seafood at local places as well as a few chain restaurants for a lot less money and much better quality. I'd say go somewhere else!!

So so restaurant, pecan crusted soul was overcooked. we ordered fish and chips? We got chicken strips and french fries, The waiter blame the cook. Restaurant was way overpriced.

Solid 4 stars. In fact, I enjoyed my favorite meal in PB here at Charley's. The jumbo shrimp app was a bit of an experience and I could've done without the dry-ice presentation... but the shrimp were very flavorful. The Cuban sandwich way exceeded my expectations! The pork was juicy and was complemented nicely by the broccoli rabe. It's priced as I would have expected for the area (actually turned out to be relatively well priced by comparison with other comparable restaurants in the area)

last minute choice but very delightful. great service with good food but overpriced. beautiful scenery however unless your wanting to spend alot of money for dinner this might not be the place for you.

Took my wife for Valentine's Day dinner. They were WAAAAAY understaffed for a busy night like this. Not impressed with tonight. Waters were empty all night and so were the cocktails. Our waitress was running around like crazy. The bus boys were all busy clearing tables and in an effort to get new customers in (I would imagine).....because they were not helping to clear our table or fill our water glasses. The $70 appetizers had ridiculously small clams and were pretty bad in comparison to other seafood towers (at other decent restaurants). I would have preferred to pay more and throw some decent oysters on there. We wanted to order Stone crabs.....since we are at Charley's "CRAB", but they said they didn't have any LARGE....only medium. All in all, Charley should be ashamed. We stopped ordering drinks because they were either SUPER slow (10 mins +), or wrong when we got them. Clientele was out of our age range (both times we've gone). We're in our mid 40's.....about twenty years early for the majority of the crowd. Right across the street from the ocean.....but its dark at 7pm (at this time of year) so we may as well have been in a strip mall in Boca. Couldn't see anything of interest outside or inside. Manager's were no where to be found. Might have been the guys running around in suits although no one came over all night. The place is not managed well. Six diners (no desert) = $690 - Not worth it. I'll go to Morton's next time.

Worst $400 Dining Experience ever!!! Sent what should have been 2 hot dishes out luke warm to cold. Horribly overcooked our steak ... which we returned immediately Made us wait 45 min to recook, while our birthday party guests waited for the last person to eat. Ruined our celebration completely. Then had the nerve to charge us twice for it. Oh, and when they send you out a complimentary piece of cake with a candle from their kitchen... beware... they will add a $13 charge to your check. Then when all of this was brought to the attention of the manger, he said, well you didn't make a big fuss about it all so we assumed our mistakes were fine. A verbal, "so sorry" was all their Manager, Scott had to offer. Do yourself a favor. Avoid this place. There are so many wonderful, more accommodating places to eat in Palm beach, that care way more about customer service and satisfaction, and who know how to properly apologize for their errors in ruining their clients dining experiences. Only Highlight: cute personalized menu... which I no longer even wanted, as the memory was no longer one we wished to recall.

Absolutely amazing seafood. This came recommended to us by the concierge while staying at The Breakers and I could not be happier with this restaurant. We had a table reserved for us that was right in the front by the window near the water and even received a complimentary dessert from The Breakers!

In all the years I'm living in Palm Beach County, I had not yet been to CC. Today, I visited with my Mom and Aunt, to try the Flavors Palm Beach County $20 three-course lunch menu. What a treat! First, the food. I had a delicious coconut shrimp appetizer with chili oil dressing (5 large shrimp in a delicious, light batter, served over crispy rice noodles. Yum! For my main course, I had Fish and Chips - again, a light batter over cod fish (6 large pieces - 4 of which I brought home), served with the thinnest, crispiest and best French fries I've ever had! For dessert, I chose the Flourless Chocolate Torte, which was truly decadently perfect with a fresh raspberry on top. My fellow diners also had wonderful dishes. I had a taste of the spinach-stuffed mushroom appetizer with drizzled balsamic - fabulous! And a bite of Mom's Key Lime Pie - perfecto (not sickly sweet is my idea of perfecto Key Lime Pie). The setting is ideal - overlooking the beach. The service was outstanding - very friendly and fun. Complimentary valet! You can't go wrong here. I'll definitely be back - oh yeah!

Outside seating overlooking the water...beyond romantic. If you can, sit outside. My boyfriend and I started with the Lobster Rolls, very tasty and not skimpy on the lobster. I had the Salmon Rockefeller and he had the Snapper Hemingway. Both dishes were outstanding and the price was befitting of the portion size. Service was excellent.

We went for Christmas dinner, and the place had a wonderful ambiance. The hostess were very welcoming and everyone seemed professional yet down to earth. We were seated in a room off the main one sorta semi private, and our waiters name was ED. He was very gracious informative of specials etc, I decided on stone crab appetizer which came out with cold smoke flowing, they were small but delicious and the sauce was very tasty, We decided after asking Ed, we would have the Snapper Hemingway which had lump crab meat on top,The fish was fresh cooked to perfection, and a great choice. They had given us a basket of flat bread and rolls earlier with some wonderful spread which I enjoyed. What I liked most it was a Holiday yet the team of servers seemed unhurried and caring, and came back several times to check on us. In my past on holidays they usually throw food down and run, and you never see them again:( The Valet service was great and I really do not have any negative things to say, It was not cheap but well worth the price considering the staff and Ed being our server, Overall I had a great Christmas Floridian style, and will return again:)

Very impressed with my first visit to Charley's. My boyfriend and I decided to celebrate our anniversary there and had a wonderful time. From making the reservations to finishing our meal, our visit was flawless. I am not sure if it was because we specified that this was a special occasion, but we were seated at a table with an ocean view during a busy dinner time. Our menus had a greeting with our names on it and our waiter was a dream...never had service like that before-especially when it was busy! The food was delectable and fresh. We shared Oysters Rockefeller as our appetizer and it was creamy, warm, savory. I had lobster for my entree and my boyfriend enjoyed Chilean Sea Bass. It was out of this world! We finished with the chocolate molten cake that was to die for. This was the perfect dinner and I am looking forward to visiting the raw bar for some oysters!

While visiting Palm Beach and after reading the reviews, we decided to give Charlies a try. I'll be honest, I didn't want to go near the place as our hotel had recommended it and I was sure it would prove to be another tourist trap...I was so wrong. It is directly across the street from the beach, I wish we had come earlier so we could have enjoyed the view. The service was great, I was really surprised they had a complementary valet! The space is really nice, upscale/fancy but not stuffy. I took one look at the menu and was in love. Our party ordered a variety of food, including Charlie's halibut which was excellent, stone crab legs (excellent), steak and shrimp (excellent), lobster bisque w/sherry (amazing) and my favorite, was a side I had ordered, of truffled lobster mac and cheese OMG delicious! If you're in the area, this is a must try!

I should preface by saying this was our first meal on our first trip to Palm Beach. While there wasn't necessarily anything wrong with this place, it just didn't do it for me. It was a recommendation from our hotel and I was expecting it to be an awesome local place with fresh seafood. It did have a nice view of the water and the food was good, but not great. When we received our bill we were asked if we wanted to purchase a loyalty card. Then it all started making sense. This restaurant is part of the Landry's chains and that's exactly what it tasted like. The restaurant is also very formal. I wouldn't define it as "fancy" but definitely not casual either. Formal seems to fit. Regardless, I probably wouldn't go back, not because it was bad, but because I just have to think there are lots and lots of places that are better. Sorry :(
Luckily went to Charley's Crab for a rehearsal dinner on a Friday night in the back room of the restaurant. We were given a fixed menu that probably had some of the best items on the menu. We started with delicious crab cakes that had little pieces of corn and peppers inside. We then had a choice between New England Clam Chowder, Lobster Bisque, and Gazpacho. I ordered the Clam Chowder, which was full of large pieces of clams but I wasn't a big fan of the chowder, which I am more partial to it being more creamier. Next were salads, which was either Caesar or Martha's Vineyard salad. I believe EVERYONE ordered the Vineyard salad, which was maybe my favorite part of the meal. It was very soggy with a raspberry vinaigrette, but it was exactly how it should have been. For the entree, everyone had a choice of Lobster Stuffed with Crabmeat, Filot Mignon, or Mahi Mahi. What a choice of entrees, huh? I had the lobster, which was delicious, but how could it not be. Finally for dessert, I had the chocolate tart that tasted like pure chocolate fudge. IT WAS DELICIOUS and RICH. I really can't explain how nice of a dinner everyone had at Charley's Crab. We had a few issues with the tables not being where the groom expected them and it being a little hot for everyone in the back room, but the staff was more than helpful to fix any issues that came up. I don't think I will ever be back to Charley's Crab, because I don't think I will find enough money in my bank account to go there, but this was definitely a delight to be able to enjoy a meal at the famous Charley's Crab.

I ate here yesterday, and I regret it. I came in for an early dinner. The valet guy was not at his station, and since no one else was in the restaurant, the parking lot was empty, so I pulled in and parked. The valet guy shows up as I'm walking in and rudely tells me that I should have used him for parking. Well, if he was where he was supposed to be, then I would have! I expected the high prices, but I also expected good food, and it just didn't meet any of my expectations. The fish was bland and my key lime pie tasted like it was made with Splenda. The location is the only thing they have going for them. They need new valet people.

Great location with great food. A bit pricey but worth it. Love the Oyster Bar. Location warrants some of the 1% showing up and you may catch a glimpse. That is also part of the experience. Enjoy!

There was very little that was nice about this restaurant. The service was horrible. We were ignored all night. The orders were taken quickly, then the server disappeared. We poured our own wine all night. Both of us had fish and it was so dry, you could choke on it. My sole thermidor was 2 pieces of fish. The top piece had a sauce on it--brown and very ugly. The bottom piece was disgusting and tasted of bad fish. For a meal that costs $85.00 per person, this was disgraceful. Maybe we should of had a cocktail and the experience might have been a little better. Will not return. MKK

This is an excellent restaurant! The selection was varied and interesting, the dishes we had were delicious and well prepared and the service was very good as well. We both had interesting fish dishes with delicious crusted toppings, mine had fresh crab as well. The salad was fresh, tasty and large and the shrimp cocktail has a great kick to the sauce. All in all, a great place to go but realize it is also expensive, but you get what you pay for... :)

Perfect place on a quiet Sunday night.. had a special consisting of crab stuffed lobster. Delicious. Pricey, though.
I have to say that the food wasn't terrible by any means, but definitely overpriced. The atmosphere would have been outstanding if it weren't for all the yelling in the kitchen (we were sitting in the back dining room, and everything was very audible). I do have to say that the special drink list was outstanding, we tried a few, and our server Windle was outstanding as well. He gave very good recommendations, our drinks were never empty and he even pulled the chair for my wife when she got up and back down again. We will definitely go back, and make sure to ask for him- while watching you could definitely tell that some of the staff were inattentive- perhaps we were lucky!

Don't waste your time or money. This "chain" is overpriced for subpar food. Your better off eating at a locally owned resturant, where the management actually cares about the quality of the food they prepare.

Fair...as in fairly expensive, fairly good food, etc. The crab cakes were good, mussels, snapper was very fresh. I just wish the service had been better. We were there a little later in the evening, but they were slow to refill drinks and water. No bread for the table. Good wine list. For the price, I would expect better. I also thought the reviews were a little misleading in that the place is not on the water, it is across the street from the promenade that leads down to the beach.

Go to Charley's Crab for a table looking out on the Atlantic Ocean. They are one of the few places in Palm Beach where you can have this kind of a table. The seafood offers are just fine, but lack any sort of imagination. My seafood combination was tasty, but it certainly didn't knock my socks off (unlike its price). My dining companions were equally underwhelmed by their meals. Dessert was decidedly the nicest part of the meal. Like the Palm Beach Grill, Charley's is a place to see and be seen first and a restaurant second. The table on the ocean rescues it from being a 2-star rating, and even as I press the "post" button I have reservations that my rating might be an overshoot...

What a waste of location. A restaurant that focuses on quantity rather than quality. It is a chain so I should of not been surprised. Valets are excellent however.

I used to eat at Charley's Crab alot "back in the day" and I was eager to return after so many years but at the same time nervous to hear it was taken over by the Landry's chain of restaurants. Football coaches do not always make good restaurateurs. (See Shula's as an example) Not to worry, it still has the Palm Beach mojo going on. We were greeted by two hostesses upon arrival who had our reservation and offered several seating options for our party. We took a 4 top with a view of the main dining area so we could see all that was going on. There were lots of Palm Beach 'characters" there and it's fun to people watch. The peke cypress wood beamed ceilings are really a wonder and make for a nice design element. Our server was a young lady who took her job seriously. When the first 2 bottles of wine we ordered were not in stock she was horrified. She brought in back up and we quickly sorted out some new selections and got back on track. We started with HUGE stone crab claws, one for each. They were delicious and almost a meal unto themselves. Next came the salads which were artistic presentations and tasted as good as they looked. There was also tuna poke which had avocado and was a nice "Floribbean" take on the Hawaiian version. I had the grilled ahi and it was done perfectly with just the right amount of pink/red ratio on the inside so it's not just seared sushi. I was really impressed with Charleys Crab and I would go back anytime.

Great Week Day Happy Hours....... $3, $4, $5 apps discounted drinks you can not beat that. From my understanding the Daily specials are only in the area where the raw bar is. RESERVATIONS: I would advise that if you are planning to go on a friday or Saturday Night. PRICES: Great Seasonal Prices for Palm Beach MUST TRY: Crab & Avocado Stack....Last two times that I have been there THey have been sold out. SERVICE: If you sit at the Bar area during dinner the service is a bit slow, but you are going to get a window seat with out a reservation. Had to get up and get a server for the bar area....HOst stand they always look a bit confused there and do not inform the servers when they sit someone. But a MUST TRY when stopping in Palm Beach

MY fiance's parents love this place and have been telling us to go here for months. So the weekend he proposed we had our celebration dinner alone here. They had personalized menu's with our name on it which was a very special touch. The staff was wonderful and attentive. But I can't eat the staff can I. The food was just not good. The macadamia nut crust just soaked up the oil. The ginger rice didn't have a hint of ginger in it. The shining star however was the creamed spinach. It was delicious very seasoned and not very creamy at all but that was ok. It was great. The mango mojito was ok but I've had way better. I won't return here.

Stone crab. Delicious, heavenly stone crab. Yes, Charley's is an institution, it has ocean views, white table cloths and a "who's who" clientele...I don't give a rats ass about all of that. All I care about is that I get to savor the fabulousness that is the stone crab. Living in Oregon, it's really hard and expensive to get stone or blue crab, so I relish each bite of that salty flesh nestled inside that freakishly large claw. Extra star for the server putting up with a group of 8 that had been marinating in rum poolside for hours before our stone crab hunt. They even gave us our own room - which was brilliant, because my dining partners can pretty loud after a few cocktails. Thanks Charley's for fulfilling my one requirement during my annual trip to PBI. Must. Have. Stone. Crab.

I dig Charley's. Fab location. Terrfic service. The food ranges from meh to good. The best value is to go during Happy Hour and get tapas on the cheap with your cocktail. We like to happen by during "off hours" on our Palm Beach trips. Charley's doesn't dissapoint...at least not as much asmost of the other places here.

Amazing meal, service, and experience!! Were in town for a weekend and wanted to try a new Palm Beach place, and we lucked out. Charley's is one of the best restaurants I've tried in awhile and everyone in our group of four agreed. Notable dishes: the scallop appetizer, the oysters rockefeller, and the mahi mahi with crab and lobster were the table favorites. With appetizers, drinks, entrees, and a dessert - the meal was also very reasonably priced. Definite recommend!

I'd give Charley's 4 stars for food and 2 stars for service so it evens out to 3 stars. I've been here a number of times over the years (many times before and after the ownership change) and have always loved the food (mainly the lobster bisque, which is to die for). This time, my new fiancee and I went to celebrate our engagement (which had happened the night before), so I was really hoping it would be a special night. The food was still pretty good; we got the lobster bisque, obviously, the crab claw special, which we both agreed was overpriced for only two claws, the snapper hemmingway and the truffled lobster mac & cheese. However, the service was sub-par. especially given that the restaurant was not very crowded (8pm reservations on a Sunday night). The waitress continually forgot to refill my water, nothing was picked up right away after we finished (she came and picked up my finance's plate and bowl with the crab shells, but left mine for at least another 5-10 minutes), and it was just generally slow service without anything special. When I'm paying that much for food, I expect people to continually ask me if I need anything, take away the dirty dishes promptly, and continue refilling my water constantly and none of that happened. I have to say that I was disappointed and in the future will be going to cheaper restaurants in the area that somehow have both better food and better service.

Over rated, the food was extremely salty.I are too high. The best thing I ate there was the jalpeno scones. the mahi mahi was too dry. Scallops too salty, the trout was small and hardly any meat on it.

Kathleen H.
Sadly, not what I remember it to be. Though the service was excellent (our waiter was attentive, funny and helpful with selections), the food left much to be desired especially for the price. My Mahi Mahi was overcooked and the accompanying risotto was highly underwhelming. The saving grace was the small bit of crab and lobster pieces sprinkled on top of the fish, which were excellent. Selection of wines by the glass was minimal.

Charlies crab Excellent service. Phenomenal bread. Beautiful sounding but outrageously priced and bland, tasteless, mediocre food. In a word, awful. In a few more words, Red Lobster in a fancy dress. We seem only to have been sent there because the concierge at the Ritz Carlton gets kickbacks for having done so.

I went with my elderly Dad and his wife and we arrived early and were told they would not seat us before our reservation time, even though there were about 10 empty tables! We went to the bar and ordered a drink, and about 5-10 minutes later I think they realized that was a crappy thing to do and sat us. We got a table by the window with a lovely view of the water. Some of the bread was hard as a rock, but the second basket was better. My stuffed prawns were so-so; the stuffing was tasty but the prawns were overcooked and pretty bland. I thought my Dad's lobster was delicious but he thought it was a little undercooked. The dark chocolate after meal mint was tasty. I would go back for a second try at the place.

My friends wife asked me if I wanted to go to Crabstones? I said yes because I never heard of it. The truth is that she meant Carley's Crab. A bit Palm Beach stuffy but the food was superb. You have to get the crabs of course and the wine menu was fantastic. Do you have a salmon colored sports jacket? If yes wear it hear with pride.

So disappointed! I was visiting the parents in Palm Beach over the weekend and decided for the first time in years to return this long time palm beach establishment...Now as the other eviews have noted - Charleys crab is not exactly the place to go to see the "who's who/chi chi" PB crowd...But it is known for good solid seafood, good solid service, and you know to be prepared for a "mature" (aka, geriatric) crowd, and even older decor...I however was not prepared for a total jerk of a server - Our reservation was for 7:30, not particularly late by any standard (but due to the mean age of the average patron must have seemed like a late reservation as by the end our meal the place was really clearing out at 9:15ish)-being on of his last tables his attention to the table was poor at best, and he was at times downright rude, that is when he even bothered to stop by the table. At one point I wanted to order my second drink as my glass was empty as were my water glass and my moms water glass which i also drank (I know, I know, but I get a little parched on a stressful Palm Beach vacation, lol). I only gave them a second star because I know their food can be very good, have had some good experiences here, and when the sun is up and you are lucky enough to be by the window the view really is great. And I know that A. servers can have a bad night (even though it should not reflect on their service or attitude toward the patrons, but it does happen....however, there is no real excuse when the server seems to be more interested in talking to the hostess and getting his night over with - we walked out of the restaurant at 9:15, not exactly late) and the kitchen can sometimes have and off night....TOO BAD WHEN THEY HAVE BAD NIGHTS ON THE SAME NIGHT!! The Good: We were seated fairly promptly; my fathers pompano was sauteed very nicely and had great flavor, and mom's fish was solid; hands down most polite and coolest person at this establishment was the valet The Bad:The stone crab claws (One of my favorite foods on earth) were sub-par. Im not sure who they have in the kitchen cracking them, but it was horrible. Sure you should expect to work a little for something so good, but the smashing/demolition they did to the claws ruined much of the meat, and at $32 for an appetizer - which my dad and I both ordered-it was simply frustrating. My mother had to ask our joke of a waiter for bread, not 1, not 2, but 3 - yup 3-times, and then when he took away her salad plate he also took her bread plate and the butter. So she had to ask AGAIN. and he actually rolled his eyes. And then my entree, I was totally wanting to surf and turf it (we were also enjoying a night just the three of us, no siblings, nieces, nephew, etc.) So I went for the filet and lobster tail. When ordering I said I was aware that it could be an upcharge, but instead of the baked potato and veggies that came w the plate if i could sub a side salad. Without being diplomatic or even nice, the waiter simply said "nope, no way we can do that!" (I worked in the service industry long enough to know that answer was probably stright up BS, not to mention a much better/diplomatic way of denying my request...The lob was ok, a little overcooked, but otherwise pretty good flavor. The steak however, was something the kitchen should have been embarrassed sending out, It was a stringy, undercooked mess (I am getting angry thinking about it, so that is all I will say about that.) We had been looking forward to sharing a dessert (should have just thrown the towel in, but what can i say we are gluttons for punishment). Throughout the meal I had noticed when other tables had gotten to the dessert course the server would bring a tray over...For us he simply rattled off a few desserts (fewer than I had heard him describe w the tray to other tables, mind you) but we were happy to just order key lime pie - if you like it on the creamier/sweeter side, this is the pie for you; if you like it on the tart mor gelatin-y side then this one might not be up your alley....Oh and I almost laughed in the guys face....he finally brought my second cocktail (which I had bee waiting for and long since given up on WITH DESSERT!) (The thing that almost made my head explode was that the lightling, coupled witht he desire to just get home, and my dad's horrible eyesight, and his drinks being replenished - he read the bill wrong and instead of a not even deserved, but gonna 15% tip it anyway - dad actually gave the jerk 22% and is both too nice and was too tired and fed up to change it...AAAARGH, not so much lesson learned for jerky!!! Love my dad, but by the time we got back to the house even he wanted to drive back there and rip up his tip on the ticket) if you have made it this far i will say this. I will try Charley's again, but it will probably a long while!

Ambiance and service was great but food was much to be desired. Don't mind paying top dollar but mid-meal, my hubby and I were so challenged consuming our $30 entrees :-(

If you are entertaining someone from out-of-town, this is a destination location. If you are coming from the south, drive up A-1-A / Ocean Boulevard from Southern Boulevard and take in the beautiful ocean views as well as the remarkable estate properties. The restaurant is situated directly across the street from the beach and has unobstructed Atlantic Ocean views. The architecture and decor are great. Open-beamed ceiling in the dining room, a large fireplace, and picture windows with those ocean views. The menu is great. It has a fairly broad price range, as well as a good range of offerings. The service and food were both great. The complimentary valet service makes this place a lock for a good dining experience. If you are a "see-and-be-seen" night-lifer, I would try another spot.

Agree with Victoria :). Appropriate to take your parents or grandparents. Good food, consistent. Been around forever, so they must be doing something right considering how much they must pay for the rent. ( Its in palm beach on the ocean) You can basically skip twice and you're in the water! Not a regular place I go, however if you're looking for a nice quaint place to go with the parents or in-laws(if you have any)..check it out.

Been around for wlhat seems like forever. Usually an older crowd. Haven't gone in forever but it was always good. More of a place you would bring your parents or grandparents for a meal. Great location (can't beat being on the beach).

Gazpacho was very salty but good. Hopefully it was a one off day. Salmon burger was fresh and delicious. However the service was quite slow. Also we shouldn't have to initially ask for bread and water. Its not like they were understaffed. Rather, they were quite overstaffed just not attentive. For the prices the service gets zero stars. Very underwhelming however the food was above average. Go for lunch and see what I mean. The key lime pie was pretty good too.

Spectacular ocean view, good fresh seafood. I had the grill shrimp and fish combo. Why decide when you can have both. Reasonably priced compare to San Francisco.

Complimentary valet parking is available, but often there is metered parking open just across the road (bring your quarters). The ocean views from this restaurant are fabulous, framed by the dark interior colors and wrought iron accents. From the white tablecloths to the mini-shakers from which waiters pour individual mixed drinks, this is a highly professional operation. The two meals we shared were divided by the kitchen staff without any coaxing. Shrimp-coated with macadamia nuts served with a mango dipping sauce were remarkable for their crunch and sweet and sour taste. The side veggies were perfectly cooked string beans. We also tried their seafood salad with green goddess dressing. Sadly, the creamy dressing added no taste and nearly drowned the freshest crabmeat, scallops and tiny shrimp. Though presented beautifully, we would never order it again. Behind the dining area is a very attractive bar from which you can also view the ocean. This is not a family restaurant, but a lovely setting for a delicious meal. The prices for lunch range from $20-50 per person, without drinks. Do not miss it.

Great lunch deal, 3 course meal $20 and everything was great! Good service beautiful view nice decor. Shrimp rolls was tasty, my daughter had the crusted Parmesan some. Highly recommend CC, I will definitely come back again...

The food is always amazing! Crab, salmon, lobster...you can't go wrong! The desserts are decadent as well. The service here is incredible!

Food: -Executive Chef Quinn Alexander has compiled a classic seafood and steakhouse menu boasting something to satisfy nearly everybody's tastes. -The menu is divided into seafood appetizers, soups and salads, daily fish selections, fish specialties, shellfish, steaks and chicken, toppings, accompaniments, sides and specials. -Nothing here runs cheap, but then again, when is shellfish in Palm Beach ever a steal? Assorted Bread with Crab Butter (Complimentary) Oh boy, I try so hard not to ruin my appetite by eating too much bread, but the tender herb biscuits were so delicious with the sweet crab meat butter. Crab, Avocado and Mango Stack ($14.99) Jumbo Lump Crabmeat with Remoulade with Avocado & Mango A massive portion of everything on the plate. I loved the slightly tangy crab with the bright mango and the creamy avocado, but I wished the avocado and mango had been more thoroughly seasoned. If you ended up getting a bit bite of avocado, it was unfortunately pretty bland. I also thought the dish in general could have used a crispy/ crunchy textural contrast and maybe a little heat laced throughout to liven things up. Regardless, a solid starter that you'll definitely want to share. Seared Peppered Ahi Tuna ($13.99) Served Rare with Tangy Mustard, Ginger and Wasabi Very tasty tuna that was delicious with the salty soy, the creamy mustard sauce and the crunch of those little fried chips. My only complaint would have been that I thought the fish could have been meatier had it been sliced a little thicker. Dynamite Scallops ($14.99) Crab Encrusted Scallops with Basil Oil Drizzle Oh boy. If you like oysters rockefeller, consider these even tastier. The crab stuffing added a fabulous level of sweetness to balance the rich salty cheesy gratin topping and the refreshing basil oil. Expect to fight over the last one. Chilled Gazpacho ($6.99, Photographed as a Split Order) Gazpacho is a Palm Beach staple, and this was a solid version. Perfectly seasoned with lots of fabulous crunchy vegetable textures- exactly how I like it. Stone Crab Entrée ($50.99) 7 Claws, Mustard Sauce and Parmesan Orzo Served in a dry-ice platter that smoked for a good five minutes, there is nothing like a fresh plate of stone crab claws. Thankfully, CC does most of the hard work by pre-cracking them into manageable bits so that all I have to do is dig them out of the shell and dip them into the creamy tangy sauce. The parmesan orzo was a passable accompaniment, but certainly could have used a little acid and maybe a little heat to enhance the parmesan coated grains. Chocolate Truffle Cake ($10.99) Chocolate Cake with Molten Chocolate Centre, Frangelico Crème Anglaise, Vanilla Ice Cream, Fudge Sauce and Heath Bar Crunch As you all know, I'm not a chocolate dessert girl, but this is one of their signature items and was truly calling my name. While not the most successful molten lava cake I've ever had, I couldn't pull myself away from its allure. The contrast of the fudgy sticky centre and the dense brownie-like crust was irresistible in its own right but add in a luscious crème anglaise, a cool vanilla ice cream and a satisfying crunch of the crispy candy and I practically licked the plate. A must-order for chocolate lovers and haters, alike. Closing Remarks: -For 4 cocktails and 6 dishes, the bill came to $200 including tax and tip, fairly reasonable considering the premium shellfish we ate. -In general, I can't claim that Charley's Crab is really my scene. It's an older crowd and a standard seafood house menu at Palm Beach elite prices. Having said that, it was probably one of the better meals I've had in the city, which means it's definitely on the regular rotation for my next trip down south. Long story short, if you're looking for a good quality seafood-themed meal with an extensive menu offering the classics done up with an updated twist, then CC would be a good bet.

(3)Cicek B.

Pretty view , Great Location , Avg food. Slowwwwww service. Drinks plus 2 courses for 5 people on a Friday night in the low season was over 2 hours. Ain't nobody got time for that.

We had diner here on Saturday night . There were four of us . Two of us had good meals but two of us were disappointed with our meals. I had grilled halibut which was very dry and I sent it back. My daughter had the agave salmon which also was not good. The waiter was very polite and got me a sautéed halibut instead . Their key lime pie is excellent .

(5)Elizabeth S.
(3)Patricia H.

Great oysters! Fish was not so good. Service lower than expected. Will come back for the oysters :)

Lol. Yum!!
(5)Beth W.
Lobster grilled cheese and blue crab club sandwich were both delish - and great views and people watching on Palm Beach
(5)Nelson S.
Happy hour with an ocean view $5-$7 drinks and decent small dishes similarly priced is a bargain for Palm Beach environs
(4)Austin N.

(4)Ellen M.
For real?really expensive food and the plates are empty. doesnt worth it. just fancy tableware and decor.
(2)Chris C.
(2)Bee B.

(3)Marc W.
(3)Bonnie J.
Our Cocunt shrimp was over cooked and the Crab Cake were small. The waitress was rude when I asked a question.
(2)Nicole V.
We went here for easter brunch. I think we were a little under dressed, but the staff didn't seem to mind. Very nice and very accommodating. Brunch buffet had plenty of options and the food was very very good
(4)Arianna N Shaffer S.
I've only been once but I absolutely love this restaurant! The food was great, the ambiance is very lovely, and the view is great! I definitely recommend going during the day or for an early dinner so you can enjoy the beautiful view! My only complaint was it was freezing inside
(5)Julie A.
(4)Jemmie W.

(5)Jennifer K.
Lobster grilled cheese is a must have!!! Goes well with their lobster bisque dipping sauce (which tastes a little like alcohol?). Thank goodness they have valet also because parking is hard to find in the area if you don't live there.
(4)Angela O.

(5)Emily C.

Our meal was very good and Jennifer, our server was excellent.
(4)Delicious M.
(5)Jean V.
Great creative food with excellent taste, to expensive though. Servers are really awful and stuck up, so we always sit at the bar. The bartenders there are such funny, great people, and you get much better service with them.
(3)Dru A.
Ambiance and view are spectacular! Food was yummy and drinks weren't watered down. My only issue is the price, but you kinda have to pay for it to get this level of service and food. Honestly, I should've booked this place for my wedding.
(5)Nick S.
(1)Anthony L.
Overall a decent experience marred by very poor main courses. Servor gave good recommendations and was overall helpful and attentive. Food - appetizers/soups/salads - Coconut Crunchy Shrimp - I should have ordered this as my entree. Really delicious flavor. Big shrimp that were butterflied. I loved them. Jumbo Lump Crab Cake - there was a large amount of crab and not much filler. Filler is what kills crab cakes. Really enjoyed this as well. Crab, Avocado and Mango stack - I didn't get a chance to try this but it looked good. Can't comment on how it actually tasted. The people who ordered it seemed to enjoy it. Lobster Bisque - lots of Lobster, really delicious. Clam Chowder - I could easily eat more of this. Probably in my top five best clam chowders I've ever had. Not excessively creamy but not watery either. Lots of fresh clam. The only strange thing was no oyster crackers but this is Palm Beach not New England. Food - main courses - unfortunately this is where the meal turned. Had these turned out OK I would be giving four or five stars. Unfortunately all of us except one person had fish. All fish dishes were overcooked to the point where the fish was dry. As a place that specializes in seafood this is inexcusable. The one person who did not order fish ordered scallops. They were inedible. Loaded with salt and just not good at all. This was really shocking to all of us because of how good our appetizers, soups and salads were. When we brought it to the attention to the servor he said he'd take care of it but nothing came of it. Overall the main courses were extremely disappointed and left a sour taste in my mouth. Food - desserts - we had two Grand Marnier Soufflés. I wasn't blown away but they were good. I think I'd try something else next time. Not an overpowering grand marnier flavor.

(5)Gael S.
We will definitely come back. It had it all...great menu, gorgeous view and delightful service.
(4)Cheryl D.
(1)Bobby A.

(2)John M.
So so restaurant, pecan crusted soul was overcooked. we ordered fish and chips? We got chicken strips and french fries, The waiter blame the cook. Restaurant was way overpriced.
(2)Hampton C.
(4)m s.
last minute choice but very delightful. great service with good food but overpriced. beautiful scenery however unless your wanting to spend alot of money for dinner this might not be the place for you.

(2)William D.
My wife and I had lunch, we were promptly seated and the server arrived shortly after, service was good, never had to wait. Food was delicious, great location, we would visit again.
(5)Marjorie M.

(5)Jennifer C.
(4)Kimberly K.

(5)Holly B.
(4)Nicki R.
Sorry :(
(3)Sandy F.
The Ahi Poke was very good. Not a fan of soufflé. Nice setting and attentive service. Really pushy on ordering more and them at the end signing up for Rewards Program
(4)Matt S.
(5)Ronda D.
(2)Mark B.
Great location with great food. A bit pricey but worth it. Love the Oyster Bar. Location warrants some of the 1% showing up and you may catch a glimpse. That is also part of the experience. Enjoy!
(4)William M.
Stopped In for happy hour cocktails. Many very reasonable price food and drink options from 4:00-7:00. Ocean views. Friendly service. Definitely will go back for sure!!
(4)Kathleen K.
MKK
(1)H W.
(5)J C.
The seafood was great but the location was the real star. My mother and I stumbled upon this restaurant and were pleased by the friendly service and nice view. That it is super close to shopping was also helpful!

We had Christmas eve dinner there, excellent service - yes, the stone crab is amazing!

Perfect place on a quiet Sunday night.. had a special consisting of crab stuffed lobster. Delicious. Pricey, though.

Very overpriced and horrible dining experience! Me and my husband came for dinner last night. We live in New York and this is our first time in Palm Beach. When we need a quick trip to the beach, we usually go to South Beach, Miami but my husband wanted to take some racing classes at PBIR so we came to Palm Beach, FL for few days. It was Sunday night so the place was not busy and we were seated promptly. We were given the table right next to the dishwasher and the kitchen entryway. I kind of did expect that since we were very new to this place but I was a bit taken aback when I realized that there were much better tables that did not get occupied all evening. I believe that our server was new because he did not have any clue about the food on the menu. He really tried to push the specials (probably because he was told to do so), but every time we asked him about the food on the menu, he cowardly kept trying to avoid our questions. At some point we asked him what he would recommend as main course from the main menu he pointed his finger at one of the main courses on the specials menu and told us that he seen "this one and it looks good"! Oh well... For appetizer I had the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake. It was nothing special. Kind of plain with a very buttery butter sauce. I used to work in SOHO in NYC and often order Crab Cake from Fanelli's for lunch, which I find much better and chipper although I am not even a big Fanelli's fen. We did not receive any bread until we asked for it after the appetizer! For main course I had Alaskan King Crab legs. The Crab legs were charged at their market value. I did not ask the waiter what that value was because I would have ordered them anyway but it wouldn't have hurt if he told us that it was going to be almost $60 (for 4 of them). However, the Crab Legs were very good. They were the best part of the entire diner. My husband choose the Snapper Hemingway for main course. I did not try the fish but I tried the rice, which again was blend and tasteless. The fish looked too greasy to me so I did not have the desire to try it. The top of everything was the desert. We ordered the Grand Marnier Souffle, which we received with chocolate without being asked, although I would have preferred it with the creme anglaise. The server warned us that there will be 20-25 min wait, which was OK. As far as I understand how souffles work and of what I sow on the other two tables that ordered the same souffle, it needs to be flambéd in the Grand Marnier then filled with the sauce. After our souffle arrived our waiter asked my husband if he wanted to treat the souffle himself. My husband doesn't really have any experience with flambeing stuff so he politely smiled and refused. There was NO Grand Marnier and NO flambeing! The waiter right away poked a hole in the still raw souffle and directly poured the chocolate sauce inside! I did not want to wait another 25 min for another souffle and I really needed the sugar so I tried to eat it. The worst desert I have ever had. There were un-fluffed egg whites at the bottom and the top was kind of chewy! I felt very sick all night after that. It was really gross! We did not say anything because we kind of felt bad for the poor waiter, who was obviously new and had no clue what was going on, but there should be someone to probably train people before they charge you $200 for dinner (during which I did not drink alcohol, and my husband had two glasses of Moet $18 each). I will never go back there and I will not recommend that place to anyone! We are going to check out Buccan tonight so I hope that this will go better...

Good seafood but not worth the price. Parking is not convenient. The service and location are fantastic.

Service was excellent. The food was very good. We enjoyed a nice family dinner here. The background music was a little loud but overall very nice experience!

The only thing worth eating was the stone crabs. Everything else is not worth it. Skip the rest of the menu.

Nice small restaurant. Good atmosphere. We had lunch there, not many people there. Bread was good. Oyster rockefeller was delicious. Fish very fresh. Couldn't really enjoy the sea view through, there's a not so high wall between the restaurant and the sea

Must. Have. Stone. Crab.

Excellent fish...and most everything else. Reasonable prices for the Island. Alot of the locals. Ivana and all the Trumps were at the next table by the window. The happy hour is great from 4-7pm...cheap too!

So-so,food. Tired ambience. Perfect for people over 75.

(3)Kathleen H.

(3)Brandon M.
Spectacular ocean view, good fresh seafood. I had the grill shrimp and fish combo. Why decide when you can have both. Reasonably priced compare to San Francisco.
(4)Lynn S.
