Great first visit to Kimchee restaurant. Really enjoyed the food and the friendly service. Everything was outstanding and made me want to plan a second visit very soon. Totally recommend this Korean restaurant.

Authentic Korean food in Oviedo Having a best friend for over 35 years that is Korean I've had more than my share of Korean food primarily in some of the beat restaurants in Queens NY. I'm so happy to have found this place now that I live in Oviedo! I've been here over 12 times. The service is always friendly and quick. Food is definitely authentic Korean with all the typical sides...the Kimchi is AWESOME! Portions are big and worth every penny! I've tried almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed! Love that they have a frequent customer card that gives you a free meal up to $15.95 value.

Solid Korean food! I used to live in Seoul with my husband and the cravings for this healthy and flavorful cuisine have never left us. We had: Soon do bu - silken tofu, egg and seafood in a spicy red broth. Tasted authentic and Delicious Dolset bibimbap - yum! I didn't have this dish much in Korea but it was just so damn good. Filled with veggies and bulgogi with a fried egg on top. Squeeze some gogijan sauce all over that and hunker down for some comfort in a hot clay bowl. I live in Jacksonville but I'll be back next time I'm passing through!

I frequent this place as it's fantastic! My favorite dishes are the Jeyuk Bokkum (stir fried spicy pork) and Dolsot Bibimbap (beef, veggies & egg in a hot stone pot), but the bulgogi is good too.

Yum, yum, and yum! Cute, quaint, and neat. A great little place to stop and eat.

We like to venture out of the area in search of new places to try. My boyfriend found this restaurant on YELP, and with all the great reviews decided to give it a try. The Dolsot Bibimbap was awesome, loaded with veggies, meat and the fried egg. I like mine spicy so I usually add the Sriracha. My boyfriend ordered the Bulgogi and agreed that his was some of the best he's had. They do offer a frequent lunch card. If we lived in the area we'd take full advantage of it. The service was excellent, very attentive staff. We never went without anything. They do offer Korean beers and wine, along with typical soft drinks. If you are in the area go ahead and give this place a try. It's not fancy, but who needs fancy when they serve phenomenal food!

It is not easy finding a solid Korean place to eat. I waited until 5 visits to write a review. This place is consistent. The service is amazing. I've been to Korean restaurants where the people made me feel like I was putting them out but these people make us feel like we are at home with grandma. The side dishes are always fresh. The rice tastes like they just cooked it. The main courses are very tasty. We have tried galbi, bulgogi, stir fried squid, most of their soups, and the seafood pancake is very well prepared. Try the hot tea. It's the Korean barley tea and it's free! Other Asian restaurants usually charge for tea. They also give you a punch card! If you've been to Korean restaurants you know they can get pricy so the free meal after the 7th is awesome. I recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Korean food, wants to try Korean food, and/or is just hungry...

I've been to most Korean restaurants around Orlando, but this was a pleasant surprise that I hadn't known about until very recently. During a weekday lunch, I enjoyed a bulgogi lunch special which came with rice, fried tofu, kimchi, a dumpling, and side salad. The beef was sweet and savory, a perfect combination with the slightly spicy kimchi. The servers were friendly, and it turns out that tomorrow is their 4 year anniversary, so they were handing out free (empty) pint glasses as souvenirs. Nice! I will defnitely return as it is a welcome change of pace from all the chains nearby.

Korean food heaven.. My new fav. Food very authentic. Some dishes I've never seen in other local restaurants. Waitress answered all my questions in regards to food ingredients, great when you have allergies. The steam dumplings are so delicious we ordered twice. I've a dish (cant remember the name), rice, shredded beef with onion, scrambled eggs, top with light beef broth. Its like something you prepare at home and not expect to find in a rest. My husband had spicy pork. He said he like it much better than the closest rest to us in Longwood. We are hook. Bonus- buy 9 entries get one free. Ask for their rewards card.

I have been to Kimchi many (many) times over the years but my last visit was a true disappointment. The Korean ribs that my husband ordered were mostly fat and very little meat. My dolsob (rice in a hot pot with iced veggies and meat) was terrible. The egg was over cooked and had absolutely no flavor. It was a true disappointment because I remembered this place being so good. I am truly hoping this visit was just fluke and not a trend.

I grew up in Oviedo but moved away seven years ago. When I came back for my friends wedding, woah! I am beyond thrilled that this Kimchi place is here. Can't beat the lunch special bulgogi box. The meat was very tender, cooked to perfection. It was both sweet and savory. Wishing this had been here for all those times in my childhood I had to go to Sonics after high school.

The food here is pretty inconsistent, there have times where I went and the food was great, but other times where I felt like I wasted my money because the flavor was very much lacking. Overall, they're decent with their portions but the prices are a bit high for the quality of the food. Normally, I order the beef bulgogi and it's a portion that is definitely big enough to share. But like I said, sometimes the taste isn't up to par with other Korean restaurants in Orlando. The service is also just so-so. The server asked my friends to switch seats so she didn't have to bring out more than one set of side dishes, and later asked us to hurry eating so they could give the table to someone else.

Great Korean food in the Oviedo/Orlando area! This restaurant is very quaint and welcoming from the moment you walk in. Service is quick and the staff is very friendly. The staff is very attentive and is quick to refill drinks. Plenty of fresh side dishes that come with your meal. I like Korean soup dishes and so I've tried and would recommend their dwen jang Jjigae (bean paste soup) and soon doo boo Jjigae (tofu soup). The soups are great! Some are spicy but you can ask for mild if you don't want it spicy. I like how it isn't bland or overly salty. The cook does a good job at blending all the flavors and texture of the soup. If you're new to korean food I would recommend the bulgogi or galbi. Other recommended dishes and apps: dolsot bibimbap, fried dumplings and the seafood/kimchi pancake. There is more parking in the back if you're unable to find parking in the front. Enjoy!

My husband and I love their bulgogi and japchae. Their portions are on the larger size for me so I get two meals out of one dish but my husband always finishes his food. They also give you 5 side dishes that are delish! I love the bean sprouts and cucumber side dishes. The staff is very friendly and don't forget about their punch card!!

Jeyuk Bokkem is THE BEST! You get the extra fermented kimchi with perfectly cooked/tender pork, rice disks, zucchini, carrots, and tofu. A spicy dish full of flavor. It's the only thing we've consistently ordered there for over 2 years, although their other dishes are just as great when we've tried them.

I love this little hidden gem. Their bibimbap is always flavorful and full of veggies. One time I had them recommend a random soup off the menu because I was feeling like a cold was coming on and they served me the tastiest Korean soup I've ever had. I love the friendly and family friendly atmosphere.

Absolutely delicious korean food. I had the dak bulgoki which was awesome. Its chicken with gochujang, scallions, garlic etc. Ive had dak bulgoki's and dak bokeum's before that have been similar but Kimchi's was one of the best! Its so good. The steamed mandoo's they had when I was there had a chicken filling. They were also very good. The banchan selection was ok - they had four conservative options - fishcake, kimchi, daikon and carrot namul (as opposed to the weird stuff). Their kimchi is a standout. Honestly it was one of the best kimchis I've ever had. I meant to ask if they ferment and prepare it in-house. I'm sure they do - after all the name of the restaurant is Kimchi! Highly recommended!

Food was great. I haven't had Korean food in many years since I was based in South Korea a few years ago but was really disappointed in the service. The best part of Korean food is the service and the side dishes, but my waitress, the young heavy girl, was extremely rude to our party. We had ordered 5 meals and were given one set of side dishes to share. It is normal in a Korean restaurant to be offered refills, but she flat out refused and said no when we asked for another small bowl of fish cakes! Then she rolled her eyes and left. I was so disappointed.

I was very ecstatic when I ran across this place. The food tastes just like my mom's cooking. My mom comes from a place known for good food in Korea, Jeolla dul. When I dont feel like cooking and I want to take my family out, I go here. We also enjoy the customer service here.

I have to say that Kimchi is not the best or worst Korean place that I have been to. It is just average and decently priced for lunch. The service is pretty good and they good box lunch specials. i have been here twice and have gotten the pork Bulgogi. I asked for it extra spicy, but received a much milder version. the fried won-ton, vegetable and rice were cold to luke warm, but the Bulgogi was the correct temperature. Not sure how often I will be back, but all around just pretty good. #Yelp100

I've been here almost a dozen times now so I think it's only right I give them a proper review. I'm not Korean so I often try to get my other korean friends to come out and eat with me so that I can get recommendations. First and foremost, most of my korean friends stick to a few basic menu items because they're "safe". I don't know if Koreans are picky about Korean f-.. actually yeah they're pretty picky. Either way, I love Korean food and this place is close enough to my house to where I can go in and enjoy a nice bowl of Soon doo bu jjigae, which I think is pretty good. I ordered mine with beef and I'd like to exaggerate how much I appreciate the one fluffy egg they put in here. One of my Korean friends says the banchan here is better than the next closest Korean BBQ spot that most people prefer. I've been to both and I think I'm going to say I agree with her. It seems to be a bit more fresh here but we know that can change any day. I've also had the beef bulgogi, kimchi jjigae, Samgyeopsal, and the Ojingeobokkeum. Now most people are going to complain that they don't get to cook it on a grill to their liking but regardless the marinade/seasoning for the bulgogi was pretty on point. The meat is tender and I found it to be especially good given the price point. The Samgyeopsal is also good. You get nice thick cuts and it is usually nice and crisp. I ask for some romaine on the side to wrap it and dip it in their sesame oil that they serve with it. The Kimchi Jjigae was... pretty average I suppose, the Soon doo bu jjigae is much better! Lastly, the Ojingeo bokkeum was a pretty good dish. Not recommended if you're not a fan of spicy food (then again if you don't like spicy food you probably are on the fence about Korean food anyways) but it was a pretty good dish. I'm a big fan of squid and this dish is perfect for sharing alongside the banchan and rice. Oh yeah, I ALWAYS get the barley tea. It's mandatory. If you love tea or want something warm to sip especially in this slightly cool Orlando weather, it's perfect. Last but not least, I prefer this place over the other "closer" place because I feel like it's more of an intimate setting. The place is smaller and the waitresses are not too far away in case you need to request something. They've also been very polite both with and without my Korean friends (because WE ALL KNOW...) and the price is just right for me. There's another KBBQ spot in Longwood I hear that I've been wanting to try, so I just might look into that. Either way, 4 stars because this is an all-around great place to get your Korean fix and have an intimate conversation with a friend or two. Polite staff, decor doesn't make me want to rip my eyeballs out, and the eating here can be easy on the wallet. If you want good Korean and don't want to drive far because you live on the East side, this is your spot.

This was my first time eating Korean and I really enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. The restaurant was very clean and quaint. The service was fast and friendly. The side dishes that were included with the meal were very delicious and fresh. I ordered bibimbab and it was full of flavor and extremely hot. Make sure to get here early, the place is small and it fills up fast.

I love me korean food; and korean food loves me! Originally coming from the north where there are decent, cheap, yummy, korean restaurants everywhere, I am happy my fiance introduced me to this place. Its a bit pricey compared up north ($2 more-ish), but since there are a few decent Korean restaurants in orlando/tampa I'm all down to spend when I get that Korean craving. What's good about Kimchi is that its authentic at best :). The good part about Kimchi is that they have daily lunch specials on the weekdays, and It makes you full and saves you're wallet. Its basically a bento box which consists of a salad, tempura, rice, and the entree you chosed. I got Dwe Ji Bulgogi which is basically marinated pork in their special sauce. Pretty decent, their special sauce has a ketchup-y taste. Other dishes I have tried are: Dolsot Bibimbap: a mix of veggies like spinach, doraji, and yummy other stuff (including meat) under a bed of rice topped off with a cooked egg. All in a clay pot. Very yummy, as I can eat this everyday Samgyeopsal: basically grilled pork belly with a side of sesame oil dip. Portion was ok, but I rather go to a place with a grill to do it myself as, it was a bit burnt to my liking. Galbi: grilled marinated shortribs...mmm :3. They give a decent portion as well, but like I said above, I rather go to a place where I can grill it. ddukbokki: mmmmmmm rice cakes in a spicy sauce :3333. I love the texture. Ahhh I'm craving it now :'(. also note that ban chan is unlimited here (but only for dinner portions!) too~~~ All in all, all of my korean cravings will be satisfied here. Also they have punch cards, so if you eat alot there you can get a free meal!

My mom came from Korea and somehow landed in Oviedo, Florida. I grew up with great Korean food thanks to her. Anyway, I came to Kimchi for lunch on a Friday a while back. Their rice was good and the pork bulgogi was cooked just right. It's authentic and not too pricey. I'll come back whenever I'm craving some good bulgogi.

Bibimbap served in a hot clay was fabulous with the rice forming that wonderful crunchy crust from the heat of the bowl. The trick is to leave the bottom layer of rice undisturbed as you eat so the crust forms. The egg on top was served over easy which is not for me, so I just moved it over to the side of the bowl and cooked it. Perfect. The short ribs served in one of the box meals were also really good and tasted like they had been marinating for days, very flavorful and tender. Simple decor, good food.

A little pricey but the food is some of my favorite Korean food in the area. The dolsot bibimbap is great (although the upcharge from the normal bibimbap shouldn't be as much). The service is great, they were constantly coming back to refill my water, which can be quite demanding with the amount I drink. The sides they give you with your food are also unique and delicious.

First time eating there. I ordered rice mix with assorted vegetables and meat in hot stone pot, and shared tobokki and miso soup with my friends. All of them are recommend by one friend of mine who used to go there. According to the waiter's recommendation, I added some sweet spicy sauce into the rice mix. I don't eat spicy most time but like to try once a while. The taste of the mix rice was very good, not too sweet or too salty, which matched my taste pretty well. The size of the rice mix was large enough for one person, even for guys who normally eat more than me. The miso soup was just fine, and could be more fresh. Tobokki is made of rice cake which is not my favorite. And it was sweeter than I expected. One friend of mine ordered udon noodles, and it was also too sweet and she didn't finish it. This is pretty much to explain why it's 4-star. The thing that I appreciate a lot is the free kimchi made of different vegetables, and fish cake sheet made of fish filet. They tasted so great, especially fish cake and cabbage, that we have to ask refill. My friend told me they refused refilling when she went alone. One more good thing they have is that we can get one meal free (less than 16 dollars) next time if we ordered more than 7 entrees(appetizer not included). We order 5 entree this time so we got 5 pouches on one card, which means we need two more entrees to get the free meal. But they only offer this deal to people who live close to the restaurant. Last but not least, the waiter was really nice. He was keeping asking us if we need anything, and even spoke a little bit Chinese, and wrote his name in Chinese for us (I am Chinese and like it a lot when people try to learn and share Chinese with me). When my friend told the waiter that she went there before but they didn't offer her the card with pouches, he gave each of us a free tiny cheese cake which was really pretty and tasty. I was too full to eat it, so gave it to one of my friends who has already had one. After eating her own, she face told me that it was so yummy, which made me regret, and finally "fought" with her to grab it back. Wow, that was the best cheese cake ever !

We got take out from here we ordered the GALBI OR pronounced KALBI which are the beef shortribs and the BEEF BI BIM BOP both were flavored wonderfully I would give the flavor a 10 but the KALBI wasn't very meaty and had a very chewy consistency it was almost difficult to breakdown and swallow which made them more of a 5. The BI BIM BOP was perfection as for taste and texture. They served this with white rice and different types of KIMCHI all of the selections of the KIMCHI were delicious the place is a little pricey but the food is good if you need a KOREAN fix I def recommend this place but be prepared to spend a pretty penny.

I got the stone bowl bibimbap and it definitely met expectations. I've always gotten that dish wherever I go (Michigan, NJ, D.C., Etc), since I consider it a barometer of quality and this place is solid. Reasonable prices, good side dishes (although the kim chi was a bit strong for me), would go again.

This is a little out of my way but decided to try it because of friend who raves about it lol. I had the 15. Jeyuk-Bokkeum. It was sooooo flavorful. Loved it! I will definitely come back to this place the next time I'm in Oviedo. Can't wait to try more of their dishes.

It's not Asian food at the level of Sushii Pop, but KImchi fits the bill for strip-mall Korean very well. Their menu doesn't vary much, if at all, but once you find what you like, you will crave it and have to return. In line with other Korean places, they have several in-house fermented goodies that accompany each meal. Sometimes the Kimchi (the food, not the place) is fresh and snappy, but other times it can seem a bit old. However, in my book even old Kimchi is righteous. The hot dishes are always great and prepared to order. Also, they have some really fun (albeit a bit expensive) alcoholic drinks that are worth exploring, most are on the sweet side. The service can be spotty, sometimes very focused and nothing gets missed; other times an item or two gets forgotten or requests are delayed. I love the Korean TV broadcasts on the TVs. I have no idea what's going on, but it really adds to the atmosphere. Additional exotic entertainment comes with the myriad of 'tards rolling into the Little Caesars next door to pick up "pizza". Because Kimchi has dark windows, they can't see you staring at them, which makes bonus laughs easier.

Enjoy cold Kimchi and warm sticky white rice. Jjamppong (Korean spicy seafood noodle soup) is my favorite, I order it all the time. Barley tea, yes! I absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area. The service is kind and friendly.

This is really good Korean for the area. this could easily do well in a downtown area. the food is excellent and comes out hot and fast. I've eaten here twice and both times the food has ben excellent. The ribs are my favorite. you don't get a whole bunch but they are outstanding. They do the Binto boxes as well as have a few non Korean dishes. if you are in east Orlando/Oviedo and want Asian food, come here.

Having weekend lunch here right now. Great place to get korean food in the area. Actually, arguably rhe only place to get korean food in the area. I wish it was closer to where i live, but that does not take away from my recommendation... Cause i'm willing to make the trip. Smaller quainter locale with maybe 10 tables for seating. Since i'm here for lunch, only a few others here. Piped-in elevator/ easy listening music with a variety of Korean and english language songs. Soft enough so it doesnt disturb my meal. Panchan (appetizers) came out immediately after our order, and was refilled When needed. Food came quickly and was superb. Well made, flavorful and as good as i've gotten in NY/Atlanta areas. One last thing I like: they have a stamp card customer loyalty program, depends on cash value spent on current or prior meals, so one of our meals was free today. Highest recommendation from me ( one note of warning, the food might be too spicy for some American palates. .

Great Korean food in Oviedo. The husband got the Dolsot Bibimbap and was more than happy with it. I got the Spicy Shredded Beef Stew and it definitely met my expectations. My 6 yr old son decided to get fried dumplings and liked them; however, the dumplings were a lot smaller than I thought for the price (5 for $6). We ended up having to place 2 orders for him and he was still a little hungry at the end of the meal. The waitress offered us a stamp card (buy 7 dinners get 1 free), which was awesome as we'll definitely be coming back to get the dinner meals....not the dumplings!!

I have eaten at Kimchi several times and have never been disappointed. My favorite part of the meal is the side dishes, the little bowls of pickled vegetarian items. Kimchi is always included, but the other dishes vary and can include potato, cucumber, radish, beans sprouts, eggplant, etc. They really add to the experience. Favorite dishes include the japchae (potato noodles) and soon doo boo jigae (a hearty stew). Some menu items can be pricey, but they have a frequent diner program that allows you to earn points toward a free entree; that helps a lot.

This was the first Korean place I've been to, and I've been going there for at least a year now. The food is always fresh and beyond amazing. While it is quite far for me I don't mind making the drive because the food is just phenomenal.

Say what ya will but you know it's going to be good Korean food when you walk in and 90% of the people there eating are Asian. I've never liked kimchi tried it several times just not my thing... until now! This place is seriously delightful. Service was fast and friendly. The server was more than happy to go over menu items and offer suggestions. Food was delish, I went because my girlfriend loves Korean and thai food but man am I glad I went. Next time it'll be idea to come here. Oh and Btw if I didn't say it before the Kimchi here ROCKS!!!!

I taught English in South Korea for a year, and now I'm hooked on Korean food. This is the only Korean restaurant that I'm aware of in East Orlando and I'd like to see a little more competition in the area, but the bottom line is that the food here is pretty damn good. First and foremost: the banchan is on point. The flavors, textures, and variety are exactly what I grew to love in Korea. For my first meal I ordered the jeyukbokkeum (one of my favorites when I was living in Korea) and it was exactly as I remembered it, except here at Kimchi they throw some tofu and rice cakes to the mix, which is a nice addition. The spiciness, tenderness and slight sweetness of the stir fried pork is what matters most, and they nail it. The samgyeopsal is also dope. Keep an eye on the sesame oil and salt mixture they bring you for it, though. Sometimes it tends to be too salty, but they're cool about adding more sesame oil if you ask. Tonight I tried the wangdonkatsu. The pork isn't as thin as they usually serve it in Korea, and the sauce is more tangy than what I'm used to. Normally, wangdonkatsu comes with shredded cabbage in a sweet dressing. At Kimchi, it comes with iceburg lettuce and a thousand-island type of sauce. I really love the shredded cabbage that it traditionally comes with and I was a little disappointed by that. If you're a drinker, the good news is that they serve Hite beer and soju. The bad news is that it's pretty damn pricey (especially the soju). It's hard for me to eat Korean food without drinking soju with my meal (Am I a cultural purist or a budding alcoholic? You decide). I usually cough up the dough and go for it. #yolo My one complaint: the American pop music. They usually play Korean music, but lately more pop and hip hop is working its way into the mix. I think it's way cooler to keep the music within the confines of Korea. Oh, and I wish I could kick off my shoes and sit on the floor and grill the meat myself, they way I used to in Korea. A boy can only dream. Make sure to get your meals stamped. After eight meals you score one on the house. Happy to see some great Korean food in East Orlando.

One of the waitress is extremely rude. (The fat one) food was OK but overpriced. We have four people.at the table and ordered 6 entrees. They gave us one set of side dishes. We asked her to refill because we have 4 people to share one set. The fat waitress said no and rolled her eyeballs and left...

First time here service is good food is 4 star quality. Would go back if I'm in the area other than that it's not bad. Food portion is good size water is refilled every time it's empty. I would recommend other to come try.

I have been here a few times for lunch and a couple times for dinner. Never have I been disappointed with the food. My favorite is the Kalbi Box and the Soon Doo Boo Jjigae. The side dishes are all very good, especially their kim chi, which is just the way I like it, sour and spicy. I would like to try their seafood pancake sometime. Prices for lunch are very good. Some of the dinner items may seem high, but the amount of food is decent. I recommend this place if you want to try something different than Chinese food or if you like Korean food! I will keep coming back!

Great place! I ordered the Grilled and Salted Mackeral. t turned out to be just what I was hoping for, though some will not like it. It is somewhat dry and salty. The very thin filets were crispy, and thus overcooked by Western standards. Picture kipper snacks fried up like bacon. It was served with 5 dishes (kimchi, cukes, and others I can't say, but they were good.) The waitress was very helpful and friendly and service was quick, and correct. It appeared that I and another table were the only non-asians out of 14-16 tables. The restaurant is clean and bright. Next time I am trying the bulgogi!

Literally the worst Korean restaruant I've ever been to. Not only are the prices high (which was expected) but the staff's service was lacking. I got the katsu beef...Wrong choice. It was like any typical katsu beef with crappy A1/ bbq sauce over it. I could probably cook better katsu and create an original sauce to go with it as well. Would never go to Kimchi again. I'm sure there are other places far better. Only gave 1 star out of pity. Would rate 1/2 a star or less if I could

Kimchi surpassed my expectations in food, price and service (During Lunch). I admit that I was apprehensive about dining here at first, but a co-worker of mine who is Korean loves this place so a group of us went and we were immediately seated and asked what drinks we wanted. The waitress was attentive and very nice. Everything on the menu looked good but I ended up going for the Dak bulgogi (Spicy chicken) box that came with a big scoop of rice, the chicken, salad with a sweet dressing, a shrimp dumpling, fried vegetables, AND the kimchi.. Wow, it's a lot food for your buck and good food I might add. It was extremely flavorful as if the meat had been previously marinated for several hours. My co-worker had the short ribs bulgogi and Wow.... Some words just don't do a scenario justice. The meat was tender and as soon as it hit my mouth it was like an explosion of sweet, salty grilled deliciousness; I am totally ordering that next time I come because there WILL definitely be a next time.

Everything's good about the food. The soju price is way to high while you can get the same thing in a liquor store for 1/5 of the price.

Had an impromptu lunch with a good friend at Kimchi yesterday - I didn't even know this place existed! A small restaurant in an unassuming little strip mall, I had little to no expectations as to the meal/experience I would have here. It seemed like a clean, well-lighted place, and the hostess indicated that we should take a seat where ever we like. Drink ordered were taken immediately as were our orders, for we pretty much knew exactly what we wanted. I don't know much about Korean food, but about a year ago I had attempted to make kimchi jjigae (a spicy kimchi stew) myself, and I wanted to know what it was actually supposed to taste like so I could make a decision (albeit a late one) as to whether my own creation was any good or not. Sides were plentiful and tasty - I prefer the sweet/sour daikon and the weirdly spongy-chewy fish cakes. The turnips taste like dirt to me, but I suspect all turnips taste like dirt, so I can't blame the restaurant for my untrained palate. Entrees arrived and my spicy (spicy!!) stew - a delicious amalgamation of savory broth, well-fermented kimchi, tofu, egg, some sort of meat (pork?) and my favourite part: chewy rice cake disks made from glutinous rice, which soak up the delectable soupy bits - was served in a steaming stone pot for which I impatiently waited to cool down. The kimchi jjigae also comes with a side of rice. I can't speak to other people's preferences, but I found this to be so spicy that I had to temper each sip with a small portion of rice. My spicy tolerance, however, is notoriously low. This was a lot of food, so we could not finish our portions. Drinks were kept constantly full. My friend picked up the tab, so I am not certain, but I think this meal plus a drink ran around me around $14. For the amount of food, and the quality, I think that's a pretty fair price. I am not always in the mood for Korean food, and this place is sort of out of the way, but next time I want a pot of something spicy-spicy, I will definitely be back.

I decided that I would update my review. Since we live close my wife loves the food here and we come often. One thing I have really noted is that even though there is not a kid's menu they always manage to fix something up for my daughter. This is a very family friendly business and every time they treat us like family.

Kim Chi is the first Korean food I've ever had, so I don't have a rating based on comparison. The restaurant was pretty small. I went during lunch time and it was very busy... all of the tables were full except for one. The decor was pretty neat- they had a Korean channel on the TV which was interesting to watch while eating. I ordered a spicy chicken bento box. It was nicely presented and was delicious. The kim chi itself was okay; I've had better. The lunch special was pretty decent, and you get a good amount of food for the price also. I will be going here again. :)

Their best thing is the gal-bi box during lunch hours. Everything else is a bit over priced. But their Omu-rice is pretty good. Side dishes are fresh. They sell kimchi separately, a rare convenience in Oviedo.

This is my new fave Korean place in O-town! My parents introduced me to this place and highly recommended their Kalbi. First of all -- AWESOME selection of Korean dishes are featured on the menu at Kimchi. From your favorite Korean grill bbq to noodles and pot stews with a great variety, they've got it all. Each item on their menu is accompanied by an accurate picture of the food too. Their lunch special Mon-Fri (11:30am - 2:30pm) is freaking amazing! For $6.95, you can indulge yourself with a Bulgogi Burger lunch box (what what!!!), donburi (chicken, beef, or shrimp), Bulgogi lunch box (chicken, beef, or pork), Katsu box (beef or pork). There's also a Kalbi lunch box for $7.95.

Came across this place browsing around on yelp. I didn't expect a Korean restaurant not far from the university and I came after class to order take out. I got the Beef Donburi and Spicy Pork bulgogi box on their lunch special and there is a punch card after 8 lunch orders the next meal is on them. Got back on campus and ate it, so flavorful and had a nice small kick of spicy on the spicy pork even though i was expecting a bigger hit of spicy. This was my first taste of Korean food and it was really good. I will be coming back when I am craving Korean and gonna try the other dishes next time.

Pros: The sides that come with every purchased "dinner" entree are delicious. I especially love the pickled daikons and fish cakes. Their Jap Chae is pretty good. It's called "glass noodles" but sometimes called "potato noodles". It's sauteed with a few veggies and tossed in sauce with a sweet aftertaste. Their soups are for sure spicy, so if you're NOT into that, you might wanna ask them to tone it down. Cons: Why is Kalbi/Galbi so expensive? It's my favorite meat dish, but they seem to overcharge here and in various other Korean restaurants also. Although, if you come for lunch, they do have a Kalbi/Galbi Box for less than $11. Overall, Kimchi Korean Restaurant is pretty good considering the location and the lack of competition within 15 miles radius.

I'm kind of surprised at some of the lower ratings below, but maybe I haven't had the "authentic" korean food experience to compare it to. I actually really like this place compared to some of the other Korean restaurants around town. It's in a decent location that is fairly easy to get to (Shin Jung is easy to miss sometimes). What I prefer about this place is that their menu has pictures! I've tried their manduguk, bulgogi, japchae, yook gae jang, and mandu appetizer all of which were good. The bulgogi was really delicious, very flavorful. The prices are a little steep ranging from $10-20 for most meals, but in some ways I think that's reasonable considering how much food you get. Extra rice and banchan + whatever you ordered. I always have leftovers. So maybe if you're on a tight budget you shouldn't go, but prices are similar at the other Korean restaurants so it's not a surprise. Service is good. Not amazing, but not bad. The guy waiter we had the first time was helpful in explaining the dishes and recommending which to get to my friend. The second time I went the experience was similar. The staff is always willing to explain the dishes. Overall, a good pick if you're looking for some Korean in the Orlando area.

This is a great Korean place. Small, unassuming and looks to be family run which are always the best in my opinion. The Man Du is the biggest I have ever seen and the ladies here ensure your Korean side dishes never go empty. They will always keep them filled up. The portions all around are very large so you won't leave here hungry.

I love kimchi but only for lunch. Their prices during the weekend are insane. I Took my family there for lunch and couldn't believe how much more expensive it was. I'll just only go during the weekday

So, I've been here a few times and have waited to rate this place just to be sure I could give it a fair shot. And yes, I read all of the warning signs prior and hopefully this will give you a balanced perspective on what to expect. Service: In all of my visits, the service has been somewhat lacking regardless of how busy or slow it is. While it wasn't glaringly poor, it certainly wasn't as warm and inviting as what I've experienced at other Korean restaurants. Prices: Ummm....It's somewhat reasonable on some dishes but a little on the pricier (but not break the bank) side. When I make bulgogi at home, I use good quality meat. Here, the quality of the beef just wasn't where I expected it to be for the price. The price looked fine, until I saw the quality of the meat. Food: Well, I stayed away from what Jakkie had warned about (listed in her review below) but I did try some of the others out of pure curiosity to see if what was written was really true. - Jja Jang Myun - Meh....vegetables were overcooked and the sauce was too starchy, overall, NOT happy with this dish....what-so-ever.....ever....ever. (*shakes head and hangs head in extreme disappointment*) - Duk Boki - This was actually good! A little on the pricier side but good. (*claps hands and flashes a thumbs-up Asian pose*) - Ramen - Noodles were overcooked and the broth was underseasoned. (*Pouty face*) - Ban Chan (side dishes) - (*shrugs shoulders*) o Kimchi - Not fermented enough. Seriously....the restaurant is called "Kimchi" and this dish should be the highlight of the restaurant. o Bean Sprouts - Good o Radish Kimchi - Good o Fish Cake - Good - Bulgogi - Yeah....no. Poor quality of meat. Not marinated long enough or seasoned enough. (*Points finger down throat in a gagging motion*) - Kimchi Jjighae - Good but not great. I guess I've been spoiled by the Korean food in LA and my mom's house. For me, it's definitely the sourness of the kimchi and firmness of the tofu that makes the dish (But you honestly shouldn't be able to screw this up) (*slurps slowly*) - Kim Bop - Between Good and Great. I loved it but my BF claims that it's just alright. (*smiles with my mouth stuffed*) - Ojingo Bokum - This was good. (*Nods head in approval*) Location: It is convenient for me since I live in Oviedo, but I'm about 4 miles from here and 6 miles from Seoul Garden. If I'm at home, I drive to Seoul Garden. If I'm at the gym or Oviedo mall, I go to Kimchi. (Yes, I drive the extra 2 miles to go to Seoul Garden) For the most part, while I would love to give them 3 stars, it honestly deserves a fair 2 stars. Nothing stellar, and a couple of disappointments.

Worst experience at a Korean restaurant EVER. We sat down and it took over 10 minutes for her to come to our table, then waited another 40 minutes to no food. None at all. No water, no drinks, no ban chan (korean appetizer/ side dishes) no nothing at all. We actually walked out of the restaurant. The lady was too busy seating a new party to check on us even once. The tables around us were also neglected. The family behind us had to complain harshly to even get any food. There were only 4 tables seated when we arrived BTW, which should be very manageable for one person. Two of the tables were already eating. I'm very disappointed with this place. I won't even call it a restaurant because they do not serve people food. They just make you sit and wait for nothing. Funny thing is I left Kimchi and immediately drove down to Shin Jung on 50. Within 3 minutes of being seated, we ordered and received water and ban chan. Within 12 minutes, I had my food. Says a lot. BTW, Kevin K. You obviously do not know anything about sushi. Hanamizuki on I-Drive is the best Japanese restaurant in Orlando. They don't have flashy rolls with spicy mayo, tempura flakes, and eel sauce doused all over it. They stick to the traditional route of fresh fish. The kitchen food is hands down amazing. I'm with Jakki on both this review and her choice in sushi.

I've been coming here for about two days a month for about a year now, I have to say I'm pretty hooked on Korean cuisine. Tried some other places, but they can't compare so I make the 30 - 45 min journey to get here. The servers are very informative about what is on the menu and they also share some tips on how they eat a certain dish. I'd say I've tried about 40% of the menu and haven't eaten anything I didn't like. I'm in love with the Kalbi (Galbi), which is a little pricey but delicious and the radish kimchi (kkakdugi). Also, they keep this place very clean and tidy!

Being a military brat I've heard stories from both my dad and my brother in law about Korean Food (some good, some bad) so when I saw that they were opening a Korean restaurant in Oviedo, I was very excited. My first visit was for lunch (about a year ago). When I entered, I was a bit taken aback by the smell (slightly fishy), but being I was with a friend, I forged ahead to a table in the back. I ordered their version of a Bento Box so that I could try a few different things. The Chicken Bulgogi Box was good. Hot, fresh sticky white rice, a green salad with ginger dressing, a dollop of kimchi (fermented cabbage), some fried tofu, and the chicken. I asked for it spicy, but it held no heat. Although the food was good and fresh, I really didn't feel that I had gained anything from this experience. In the course of a year, several of my friends have tried the place and raved about the short ribs and other dishes. So, last night, after hitting up Planet Fitness, I convinced the hubster that we needed to go. This woud be his first experience with Korean food so I was hoping it was good. The experience was incredible! I braced myself for the smell, but it was no where to be found when we entered. It took a few minutes for us to be seated as the hostess was talking with someone in the back but then she led us to a tale nearby. We perused the menu and again, I ordered my Chicken bulgogi..SPICY (you think I would have learned the first time) and the hubs ordered the Stir Fry pork with vegetables SPICY. In about ten minutes the waitress returned with a plat full of little dishes..one had some seasoned bean sprouts, another pickled potatoes, one had cucumbers with a spicy sauce, another kimchi, pickled dikon with spicy sauce and then something that I thought was fried tofu. I didn't really care for this one as it was kind of salty and fishy tasting. I later learned that it was fish cake. Then we got our little bowls of white rice and our entrees. The pork came out first, a heaping plate, and it smelled delish. The hubs offered me a bite, and I eagerly accepted it. It was spicy, but also sweet, and the veggies were crisp/tender. Then she brought out my bulgogi. This was completely different than what I had the first time. Served on a sizzling skillet it was probably close to half a pound of thinly sliced chicken, green onions and mushrooms cooked with a spicy chili sauce. OH MY GOODNESS it was good but filling. I ended up taking half of mine home and a third of the hubs to our son. Needless to say we will definitely be going back! PRO's -fresh cooked food -different from your common Chinese Buffet or Japanese Steakhouse -relatively inexpensive (two dinners/two drinks for $32) CON's -service can be a bit slow -The tv is prominent in the room and set to non English channels with the volume being a bit loud (has been both times I've visited) -menu lists Bud/Bud Light but they only had Coor's

theepiceats.com/post/500… My friends and I have always been looking for a Korean restaurant to replace Shin Jung which we used to frequent. We stopped going as much because it was out of the way or too far or just sometimes too expensive. Kimchi is a quant little place off of N. Alafaya trail that offers a about 25 different item on the menu ranging from the typical Bulgolgi to the traditional offal filled, lava red stews. We ordered a fried tofu appetizer which came out to be saute'd instead. It was mild and simple topped with nori and scallions. The cha jang myun was not very good as Jakki. K said. Exactly as she described, it was a globful mess. The Bulgolgi was average, the BimBimBap was really good, even though the egg was fried instead of raw. Kimchi stew was excellent, piquant and delicious. I really enjoyed the Spicy Squid stir-fry. All the included "sides" were really good. Everything was pretty mild to Korean standards, except the stew, that was spicy. All in all it was a pretty terrific place. The "Mama San" there was very pleasant and welcoming. the service was quick, and the food overall was nearly as good as Shin Jung but at nearly half the cost. I can't wait to go back to try some different items.

Just did lunch there today around noon and im still full. The service was kind of hectic at lunch rush, the owner and server were running around like chickens with their heads cut off. However they were very friendly and were trying very hard to make everyone happy. The food was excellent. This was my first time there but my sister and mom ate there recently and also said it was good. I ordered the spicy pork kalbi bento box and my sister ordered the dolsot bibimbap, both were really good, fresh ingredients. I ordered the pork medium spicy and it was not spicy at all and we just ordered the spicy bean paste/sauce for the dolsot bibimbap, which you can adjust to your heat tolerance. The kimchi was very fresh, not very fermented which is how i like it, not as sour as I like it, but also no hint of fish or seafood either which is a plus from my point of view. More than half the restaurant was filled with Korean speaking people. It was packed with a line out the door. This is the only korean restaurant in Oviedo as far as I know so you might want to try it when its not so busy, after lunch or late dinner. Also the parking was a pain at lunch time, there were no parking spots left, I ended up parking in the fire lane on the side of the building and my sister parked at the bank in the back. This is really the only drawback of being in such a small plaza. Overall great experience, authentic menu, and good tasting food. The service left a little to be desired but its expected for a restaurant that is so new. I hope they do well in the future. I will continue to patronage this establishment and watch them grow.

Kimchi is a traditional Korean dish that is made of vegetables and seasoning. With the name Kimchi Korean Restaurant, your expectations are set for the traditional Korean food they serve. The location is within a small plaza and located next to dry cleaners, but the feeling inside provides a different setting. It's a very clean and simple look to the dining area, and they make the most of the space available. On the menu is a variety of authentic Korean dishes including "Dosirak" or the more improper commonly known term "Bento Box". Since I am new to Korean food and like a sure thing I choose the Bulgogi Box. With the box I am able to try a variety of items, and always pleased with everything. On the menu also is a Bulgogi burger that is addictive! Service is good and the food is great!

Went here three times trying to give it a second chance and a third. Every time something bad. First we went and ordered dwen jang jjigae and the shrimp was still gray NOT EVEN COOKED!!! Second time my husband ordered cha jang myun, that was the worst ive ever had, it was gritty and tasted like all of the starchy vegetable just melted in the sauce, potatoe is supposed to be put in last to keep it intact while slightly being cooked, but theirs was just all crumbled in and disgusting. Third time we ordered gob chang jjigae (intestine soup), it was undercooked and they didnt clean out the intestine correctly there was still "stuff" in the intestine, had to spit it ASAP, after we paid and left I ended up throwing up because the taste of poo wouldnt leave my mouth. Normallly I LOVE eating intestines grilled or in soup but that last experience has tainted my love for it. I TOTALLY do not recommend this place, its just NOT WORTH IT. If you want decent Korean food go to Shin Jung or Korea House.

Kimchii was quite an interesting restaurant to visit. Though you can never go wrong with ordering galbi and bulgolgi, the rest of their menu is quite odd to look at. For people who have never had korean before, they make it quite difficult to order certain things without photos alongside each menu item and the waitress doesn't seem to care too much to explain what everything is. When i got my gimbop, I also noticed they substitute their fillings differently than normal gimbop is made. Instead of adding fresh and cooled bulgolgi meat, they like to add a tiny piece of imitation crab. That ALONE made me unhappy with the appetizer. Other than that, the place was alright and for a korean restaurant, they are quite decently priced. I'd go again but bring my own chopsticks (they have the very harsh wooden ones)

I was really excited when I heard they opened a Korean Restaurant near my house so I decided to try it out for lunch....The location is good, it's in the same plaza as Shogun in Oviedo. The restaurant was pretty small, nothing fancy. The tables kept scatching my legs due to some huge piece of wood under the table. I walked out of there with cuts =( Anyways, the food was ehhhhh. The servers messed up our food order, the food they did bring out was bland; I had to send it back to the kitchen because it wasn't spicy at all. And the side dishes they brought out (the kimchi) wasn't fermented enough; it had no flavor. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you want some good Korean food. I'll stick with Beewon

We had dinner at this restaurant during it's opening week and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm a veteran and served a tour in Korea and the cuisine they served was quite authentic. It should be - it's run by a Korean family. The several side dishes of various pickled vegetables, kimchi, etc, was a nice touch. The rice is your traditional east asian sticky short-grain rice, hot from a rice cooker. This matters - some east asian restaurants can't even get the rice right! All in all, I really like the restaurant and am pleased to see the added variety in Oviedo/Winter Springs area. Try the Bulgogi or kimchi soup, they're excellent! P.S.: In regards to the review by the person who gave this restaurant 1 star, let it be known she also thinks that hole in a wall restaurant called Hanamazuki (sushi) is 5 stars. 'Nuff said!

I have eaten at a few different Korean restaurants in my time. Kimchi Korean Restaurant is one of the better ones. I would have to agree with some of the other bloggers below. Only go for their for lunch. their prices are very expensive for the dinner menu. With that being said, the staff is pleasant. I usually get the Bento box. A decant amount of food for the price point. You can't go wrong with bulgoge. Basically it is shaved beef (usually sirloin or rib eye), chicken or pork. It is marinated and barbaqued. It was well seasoned, and moist. If you have never had Korean food, it is a great way to get started. The rest of the meal consisted of a dumpling and other side items. You should also try Kimchi (a fermented/pickled cabbage and other root vegetables in a somewhat spicy vinegar). It looks a little weird and a strong odor, but it is very good. I always ask for more..... Try Kimchi Korean Restaurant, but only for lunch, and you will not be disappointed.

This place was awesome, I'm only giving it four stars because this was my very first experience at a Korean restaurant so I have nothing to gauge it by, it could well be worth 5 stars. Treated myself to lunch here. When I went in I heard and smelled something sizzling in a bowl that a lady seated at a table was eating out of. I looked over the menu, asked the waitress what the other lady was having and said "I'll have that". It was interesting and tasty--a sizzling hot stone bowl with rice, noodles, a fried egg over easy, thin sliced beef, and a couple other items thrown in there for good measure. It was served with 3 other little bowls of somethings; one was (I assume) kimchi, one was like mashed potatoes seasoned with soy sauce and the third I couldn't quite identify but it was tasty too. I trusted other Yelpers and their reviews, decided to try something totally new to me and jeez am I glad that I did!!!

We have eaten lunch there twice now. I can see how people have critiqued their service or lack of service. There are only one or two people servicing all of the tables so they can be slow if there are a lot of people. Luckily we arrived before the lunch crowd so we never experienced slow service. We enjoyed our meals and feel that it is good food, maybe not great food. Since we live nearby it's our go to place when we want bibimbap.

We went here for lunch and it was excellent. I had one of the Bento style boxes, however I'm excited to go back and try something more authentic. They were very busy the day we went, however the staff was attentive and were obviously working hard to keep up with the orders. Can't wait to go back!

We walked in midday on Saturday and there was one other table taken. The seven of us sat down but only six of us got utensils. I might not have mentioned it except it was me that was left out of the utensil club. Moving on... Glad they have boricha, both hot and cold. The banchan was pretty good. We ordered a handful of dishes to share. They brought them out as they were cooked. Had we ordered individually, I'm not sure it would have been so pleasant to have half the table eating at any time. The boiled mandoo was good. The haemul pajeon was cut like a pizza and was pretty tasty. The duk boki wasn't as good as I've had before, but wasn't horrible. The ojingo bokum had good flavor. The daeji bulgogi was nice and spicy. The mul naengmyun was super refreshing. Only two of our dishes came with rice but with seven people we wanted more. Typically, Korean restaurants are nice about giving free rice if you order enough food to warrant it. But I think they charged us for two more bowls of rice. It's a solid spot to satisfy a craving, but nothing was exceptional.

I've eaten here a couple of times because it's the closest Korean restaurant but the food is just not very good. Seems like the chef needs to step up the seasoning. The kimchi jigae needs more sourness to the kimchi and the broth needs more flavor. The bulgogi is the worst I've eaten at a Kirean restaurant. Their jap Chae is okay. The bibim bap is also ok. The only tasty item is their mandu. I'd rather drive a little further to get tastier Korean food.

OMG, it's 9:15 P.M. and I'm still full from lunch today at Kimchi. Thanks to Karl and Limei for telling us about this place. We had two appetizers (both very large portions), two meals, two beers, and a bottle of very interesting rice wine and the total bill was around $65. I stuffed my face, took some home, and left some on my plate. Their menu has photos and english descriptions for most of the dishes. Before going, I Googled the appetizers that sounded like something I hadn't tried before. I ordered the Ddukbokgi. In white devil language, it is an Asian gnocchi. Just like Italian gnocchi, this Korean dish is very filling and Kimchi's portion could easily satisfy one as an entree, or serve 3-4 people as an appetizer. In addition to what you order, the restaurant provides six small dishes of Kimchi (cabbage, daikon radish, potato, fish cake, sprouted bean sprouts, and some other kind of radish), at no additional cost. The environment is comfortable with large tables and large chairs. They have space for large parties. Service was friendly and helpful, despite the language barrier. Kimchi is a diamond in the rough (Oviedo).

I keep my standards for Asian food high...I think many Asian Americans do since we have homemade from our momma's ;). I have been searching for a good Korean food for a while. I searched up and down colonial since they always tend to have authentic Asian food. I wasn't impressed. I was driving and I saw this place and decided to try it. Thinking it wouldn't be that good since it is near a college campus and in Oviedo of all places...WAS I WRONG! I got the Bim Bim Bop and it came out sizzling and cracking. How could I count my carbs when I saw it! It was so yummy and flavorful. Definitely my favorite. I love all the side dishes they provide...especially their kimchi (they picked a good restaurant name). I also got the seafood hot pot...that was so so. The galbi is also very good. My bf has never had Korean food and he ordered that and I have converted him to a Korean food lover. It seems to get busy at lunch time, they definitely have good specials during them.

My boyfriend took me here last year and I have to say, I really enjoy it. There's something for everyone (my boyfriend used to be vegan, and we both found something we liked!) and the staff is very polite and kind. The little side dishes they bring out are really awesome as well. The only reason I didn't give this five stars is because the restaurant is somewhat tiny and if it gets busy, you'll definitely have to wait for your food. I assure you though, it's well worth it.

Prices are reasonable, service is good, but the food isn't so great. Not as much flavor to the dishes as I'm used to. Jajangmyun was pretty bland and bibim naengmyun was too sweet and not spicy enough.

The service was fabulous, and the prices were very affordable compared to other Korean restaurants in the area. The whole entire restaurant is clean and welcoming. Though other places may prepare a better seafood soon doo boo, this one isn't bad at all. The boyfriend got a dolsot bibimbap, and that was wonderful. Did I already say the service is just awesome? Went back twice in a week!
