Frankie's has been around for at least 30 years, originally a few miles down the road in Nokomis. It changed hands about 5 years ago, and the pizza has suffered a bit. It's still good, with crunchy thin crust and good tasting sauce, but it's like someone decided to cheapen up the ingredients. Crust doesn't taste as fresh, not quite as much cheese, etc. I still stop in a couple times a year. The meatball sandwiches are recommended, too. It really is one of the best pizza places in the area, but that's not saying all that much. Finding a pie that rates above a 7 around here is a challenge.

Best pizza in town. A trip down is never complete without a pizza from Frankie's. it's the real deal.

Pizza ok. Sauce was bland and skimpy. Cheese tasted lite. Crust pretty good. Good service. Will try somewhere else next time.

In CT we figure we invented pizza as Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana in New Haven is the grandfather of pizza restaurants. And we have some excellent competitors in CT for best pizza but in FL good pizza is hard to find. Actually almost impossible to find. Having said that I am happy that Frankie's is close to where I have a FL home. The pizza is very good. The crust is substantial--thin but not skimpy--and you can fold the slice and eat it the way pizza is supposed to be enjoyed. They have twelve speciality pie but I like the works with Pepperoni, Sausage, Mushrooms, Green Peppers, Onions, Black Olives & Mozzarella. The restaurant is in a small strip mall so keep your eyes open so you don't miss it. They also have a full menu of dishes featuring veal and chicken and shrimp and salmon so you don't just need to stop for pizza period.

Great pizza. Must have the garlic knots as appetizer and the cannoli for dessert. A small and friendly treasure.

Great pizza and pasta. Good staff. $5 lunch special everyday (except Sunday because they are closed), providing two large pizza slices and a drink. Great value!

The pizza is a little too expensive, but it is worth it so I can't really complain. I would probably say it is the best pizza in the Sarasota area that I have tried to date.

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
