What a great place to have breakfast. There was a bit of a line when we got there late on a Sunday morning, but it moved briskly and we got seated within 15 minutes. There was a large party that got seated just before we arrived, so if things had been slow or off, I would have understood. But I didn't perceive that the large party delayed things much. Figuring out what to have was about the most difficult thing at this place. So many good looking Benedicts!! Sadly I had lunch plans and had to eat light - but the Salmon Benedict looks awesome. I'll have to come back for that. Not so sadly, they have a nice variety of omelettes. Interestingly the omelette I had is not on their online menu, which is different than their printed one. Anyway, I had an omelette with bacon, avocado, and Monterey Jack cheese which was excellent. The hash browns are simply grated potatoes with little seasoning or taste. Just filler for the stomach that could be excellent with a little care. But the omelette was enough. I tried my wife's breakfast and found their sausage gravy to be a cut above most diners'. Service was okay, not great. Food came out reasonably quickly, but our server never smiled and brought out hash browns for one of our party instead of the requested home fries. All the servers were working hard and fast, but with no joy or smiles. The condition of the restaurant was excellent. This place is right on the cusp of being top notch. I understand it's been there 25 years, and I hope they're there another 25.

This place is definitely old, with all the decor and smells to match (also the median age is probably about 65... but I digress...) I've eaten in a few times, but what we really loved to do with just place an order for pickup. Their fried fish sandwich is HUGE and perfectly battered... you really can make 2 complete sandwiches with the portion. I always added a slice of cheese and man... that was a solid meal. So, I take Alfie's for what it is... old, but still solid... and I'll take it to go. :)

We stopped for breakfast early on a Sunday morning. The place looks nice when driving by on A1A and the large parking lot was newly paved, but it was nearly empty. Inside, Alfie's looked and smelled old. In the waiting area was a large bookcase filled with very old books, just in case the place ever has a line. Not very likely from what I've seen so far. I was willing to give Alfie's the benefit of the doubt despite the fact that only one table was occupied. Corned beef hash and eggs is a favorite of mine and very popular in this part of Florida. It's always made from scratch by restaurants in the area. Except at Alfie's. When my breakfast arrived there was a mountain of nasty-looking canned hash on my plate. I took one bite and it tasted more like Alpo than Mary Kitchen brand. The eggs and coffee were okay, but there was little evidence that my toast ever saw the inside of a toaster. Service was good. What's it all about, Alfie? Canned and frozen food? This place is in dire need of an owner who cares about quality. During the time we were there, only one other party was seated. When we left, it was nearly 10 a.m. on a Sunday morning and again, only one table was occupied.

Went for lunch yesterday. The seasoning on the salmon and also the shrimp/scallop combo was non-existent. One of the scallops was bad as it had a strange flavor, wouldn't chew like a normal scallop and made my tongue numb. The vegetable lasagna was mostly cheese, so if you like cheese you might like it. The haddock was decent. BUT!!! and this is a BIG BUT - they were literally trying to kick us out. There were three empty tables next to us and we had met family for Easter Sunday from Jacksonville - a halfway point. We have two people in our group who have waitressed so we are sensitive to not taking up a table too long for a waitress, but these people were RUDE. They actually walked over to our table and said loudly to one another, "this table will be leaving shortly." We didn't ask for extras or favors. We were not difficult or loud. They hovered and made things uncomfortable to the point we will never go back again. We are talking about one hour from walking into the place. We waited about 10 minutes for a table. Ordered our drinks and then food quickly. We had about 40 minutes at the table. They may have had a large group coming in but we are not sure since there were none at the entrance as we quickly and uncomfortably vacated. We were looking for a new meeting place for holidays and birthdays and such. This will NOT be it.

Went in for breakfast and it still had the same smell I remember. The food was good, we ordered eggs and bacon. Eggs cooked right and coffee good.

To start with I give it one star because you have to give something! We would've been better off to have gotten a frozen TV dinner every thing is straight from a box... We have had fast food and dinners that took more preparation than this. Definitely tourist trap.. Maybe if you are over the age of 75 it fits more in your dietary needs grease and batter...

Had the famous haddock it was bland and rubbery. Clam chowder and cole slaw were ok. Grilled cheese was also tough. My family and I will never go back.

Frozen shrimp is not what I expected from a restaurant right on the ocean. The server said they are fresh frozen. The grill shrimp ordered were broiled and way to much paprika (I assume paprika it was red and not much taste) and floating in liquid. We ordered the fish dinner special for $10 but the server failed to tell us you could not alter the sides...so our ticket was $12 higher.

Meh, nothing great. Ok for breakfast but don't go out of your way for it. Often during holidays the lines and wait are very long which surprises me. We go here when other places are closed.

Stopped at this gem on my way home from Ormond beach with my husband after a wedding! We both ordered breakfast plates and were very satisfied!! Breakfast is my most favorite meal of the day!!! I had pancakes, eggs, and hash browns of course!! I gave three stars, not for the food but for the very close seating, I felt like the child at the next table might as well have been eating off my plate he was so close. But the food was great, and would stop in again if I head back that way.

Ok for price. Some things (veggies) overcooked, others (fish) undercooked, NE Chowda not NE but too much salt, BTW fish had no salt or any other spice besides a sprinkle of paprika but crab stuffing was good and slightly undercooked like rubbery fish, rolls nuked and part hard. All for $20.

A wonderful mom and pop type place with large portions. Old decor and beachy smells lets you know that this place has been here for quite some time. They have several awards and thank you articles/letters framed on the walls near the host stand. It's across from the ocean but offers no views. The waitstaff is friendly and eager to please, even my young hooligans lol. The kids ordered breakfast, while I ordered lunch. I had chicken with mashed potatoes. It was very good and reminded me of simple home cooking. Overall it was warm and inviting, just wish they do some small cosmetic changes like fresh paint and flooring. We will definitely go back.

Food = delicious. Good flavor, great quality. We had prime rib...perfectly cooked, plenty of flavor. Their blackened shrimps were garlicky halitosis-inducing heaven. Key lime pie = perfect for me. Tart, yes. Too sweet, no. It was a very generous slice with raspberry sauce and whipped cream. Prices = reasonable. Parking = a cinch. Note: early bird special = mad crush of blue hairs, so wait it out if you can't deal ;-) Service = friendly

Came by Alfie's to see what the big word on the haddock was, and ordered the large haddock dish. I had the calamari as an app; was a bit overcooked but good in flavor. Once the haddock came out, I understood why it was the large size (2 fillets of haddock and 2 sides). All of the food came out in good time, and had flavor; nothing that truly blew me away. The dessert with crepe and ice cream was the best part of the meal. I'll probably be back if I'm ever in this area.

I visited Alfies over the weekend. I used to go here before Ormond grew up so much, so while in town wanted to visit again. Prices are reasonable for a sit down restaurant with good food and great portions. I dined with 4 kids and another adult. The clam chowder was great. Me and 2 of the kids had it and we licked our bowls clean. I had a Reuben, it was huge. Not thin slicked deli meat, actual thick slices of corned beef. I can eat plenty, but I had some left over. Two kids had fish, one fried and one broiled...again portions were large. Comment about the smothered chicken was that it was super delicious. One kid had the burger and it was huge as well. No complaints at all. I think for a party of 6 the bill was around 70 bucks, not cheap but the food was worth it.

Good food at great prices with an ocean view! We 'discovered' Alfies last year while on vacation in Ormond. We arrived just before 6pm and found there were several 'early bird' items on the menu. Wow! They were great! We ate there 4 times in one week. We're back this year and have already been to Alfies twice for dinner and once for breakfast. If you can, sit in one of the booths which provide a view of the ocean. Even the tables provide some view. My wife raves about the crab cakes and clam chowder. My favorite was the half baked chicken - not available anymore :(. But the chicken breast, chicken marsala, chicken fingers (huge) are my favs. The family loves the various seafood dishes and the onion rings are the bomb!!! Great food and great service. Will definitely be back.

I've been here a couple of times. First time had breakfast, it was totally fine, reasonably priced, and good service. The second time was btwn breakfast and lunch, so I think there was some shift changing going on or something. Service wasn't great, coffee was cold (and hard to get refills), but food was okay. Boyfriend was disappointed in the hamburger steak. I'd say this place is good for very basic food, probably best at bfast

My mom lives in Ormond and regularly eats here. When I was home earlier this year, I went several times. I'll definitely go back whenever I'm back to visit mom.

This is a 3.5 star place. Good: Food. Location and view. Service. Price. Not so good: Decor Cleanliness. Can't say that I thought I was risking food poisoning or picking up the latest STD, but this place is just a couple of steps ahead of the Health Inspector. Nevertheless, I've been there twice and will go back when driving A1A to and/or from Orlando/Daytona to St Augustine.
