Consistently good pizza. Great deal on Mon and Tue, large cheese pizza for pickup $8.99. This place is ten times better than their predecessor "Bronx Pizzeria." Service is quick and the staff are friendly. A nice hidden gem out here in east orange.

This place is always awesome. If you do carry-out the wait is usually pretty quick. Great customer service. Fantastic food. Their pizza is awesome and their anti pasta salad......yum....yum...yum! I love this place!!!

Eggplant dinner was not good. It was greasy and had a odd taste. It was not whole pieces of eggplant. The salad was good and the pasta was ok. First time eating here and was not impressed.

The first two times I've ordered from here the pizza was great, but for some reason recently the pizza has arrived to my house cold. This is very upsetting because it took a hour and a half to get the pizza. Thats not including the fact that I live less than two miles from the place. Called to speak to manager about this problem and she asks me "What do you want me to do?". Albeit the pizza is very good when hot, but this just doesn't make up for the sub par service I've been receiving.

My family and I love getting pizza delivered from here. The pizza is the best I've ever had! Just a simple cheese (extra cheese) pizza shines in flavor. That's always our true test of a good pizzeria. I've dined in a couple of times and I wouldn't exactly recommend that. The service isn't terrible but it isn't very good. Choose your meal wisely- stick to the basics- and you won't be disappointed. The chicken parm is pretty good. Otherwise, order a pizza and you'll definitely be pleased. Our tried and true favorite is extra cheese pizza. They also have great pizza specials on certain days of the week. Check out their website.

My best friend took us here, so glad to find a gem like this!! Appetizers ordered: Fried Zucchini, fresh and not too skinny, fried perfectly. Stuffed Shrimp, stuffed with a decent amount of crab meat and cheese, very fresh and flavorful! Stuffed Eggplant Rollatini, cooked perfectly with the right amount of sauce and cheese. Breading was not too heavy. This is a very large appetizer to be shared for sure. Garlic Knots are AMAZING!! Best knots I've ever had, soooo much garlic and perfect bite size pieces! I would drive 25 minutes just to order those! Main dishes ordered: Gyro Platter, meat was tender, fresh, seasoned well. Tzatziki was very good, you could taste the cucumber and it was a nice light flavor not overly creamy. Meat lovers Pizza, crust was fantastic and I'm not a fan of pizza (my son ordered it). The meat was pilled on (this never happens at the chain pizza joints), so much meat it was falling off! The meat was high quality, not grizzle like the cheap chains. Veal and Eggplant Parmigiana, sauce is so good, nice seasoning, big chunks of tomato, not too heavy on the breading and just the right amount of cheese. Eggplant was not over cooked, it's sliced properly to be cooked without becoming mushy. Veal Marsala, meat was very tender. This is an amazing dish! A lot of places mess it up, the sauce was perfect and the pasta was cooked just right! We felt like family here, the server Darrian was soooo helpful and sweet! She knows the product, it was such a pleasure having her in our evening conversations at the table! This was my first visit and it is a new favorite for sure!!!

I can definitely say that I have NOTHING wrong to write about Papa Gio's. There food that I have had is very very good. Pizza, wings, salad, and pasta amazing. But my favorite Menu item is the garlic knots I can literally eat like 3 bowls of them, there amazing! Over all just great authentic Italian food(:

Pretty good pizza and Stromboli. There are better in the area but Papa Gio's is definitely better than the local chain pizza places. They have it especially difficult as there is a chain pizza shop next door which in my opinion is very bad business practices but I guess they like the competition. As the place is close to my house I have only once sat in to dine. The atmosphere within the restaurant seemed a bit cramped but they did well with the space available.

The standard of quality shines here with both their food and their service. I did not expect this when walking in, frankly we intended on entering the next door pizza place at first. Ona whim we chose Papa Gios and we're glad we did. The food came fast, and the wait staff was far more pleasant and attentive than the majority of dining experiences I'd had in far more "ritzy" places. I really got the feeling that every person working that day, from cook to server, genuinely cared that I was happy to be there. Well done, all around!

  • Sally B.

Papa Gio's is our favorite take out place in the area! Love the pizza and the gyro salads are amazing! Lots of salad, olives, feta, tomatoes etc and the pitas are warm and perfect!

Something has changed. Not sure but i think they switched cheeses they use. A lot of oil now. It's like they switched to Grande cheese or something, I have noticed Grande cheese uses a much greasier cheese and that is what their pizza is like now. it may be they are using a mixture of cheeses that weren't used before. i am having a problem with this change. You can tell right away that something has changed by the color of the cheese and sauce layered in oil. This may no longer be an option for us, it is extremely close to Marcos now and I cant stand them. Looks like we lost another joint.

Food was adequate. Calzone was very bland, eggplant parm was greasy, and flatbread pizza need much more seasoning. Server was lovely, but food was not authentic.

  • Jason B.

Only problem here is the grease! damn, half the bottom of the pie is soggy from the grease. But i get over that pretty quick because its great, fresh pizza. I just got back from brooklyn, NY and this taste pretty much the same, minus the grease

Absolutely best Sicilian pizza we've had in a very long time!! I can't wait to go back! Really good!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
