Greek Cuisine
Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.
Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.
For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. This place has great food. The owner is very nice and is very generous. He makes every gyro as if he were to make it for himself and his family. Portions are large and delicious. This is the best gyro shop i have found in the area, and with the owner being so friendly i will definitely come here at least once a week.

One of the best gyro's in town. I feel at home Everytime I go; great service; amazing food & unbeatable prices for the quality & portions your given. If you like mom & pop restaurants that make food as if they were making it for themselves; then please check out this place.

The owner is wonderful very kind man. The food is outstanding!

Still haven't written a review for here, don't know why. Awesome gyros and salads (all I've had so far), great prices, and the owner is super-nice. If you want a fast, filling, delicious lunch that won't leave you feeling unpleasant, this is a great place to try.

This place is amazing. It truly is great. Everything there is made fresh and by hand. The prices are decent, the quality is great, and the service is outstanding. There is some good food here from falafel, to salads and gyros. And Hazem (the owner), doesn't mess around. My gyro was packed with good meat. I don't usually like salad, but this place is an exception. It's worth coming here. Check it out

I am Arab and this place tops my list for arabic food. My grandmother now has competition. The Kufta and rice aren't dry like most places. The hummus makes the meal complete. And Hakeem is extremely polite. I would def recommend this place to everyone!!

Been here a couple of times with co-workers for lunch. The owner is a super nice guy, provides friendly customer service. I usually get the gyro combo, which comes with a gyro, side salad (choice of variety of different salads), and a drink. The portions here are huge. The gyros are always stuffed with meat. I always leave this place stuffed and feeling 110% satisfied. If you're in the area and enjoy this type of food do yourself a favor and stop on in for a gyro or any other sort of platter.

Best Gyro I've ever had in my life. This place is the real deal if you're in the mood for Greek.

The meat was piled high to the heavens, even the angels had a little taste of lamb this evening...... Proverbs 34:18. May thee Greek man cometh. And place thy loin of lamb on pillowy unleavened breads. For he sizzles the meats on griddle. And spreads thy cucumber sauce among the loins. And the people rejoiced. They rejoiced hardcore.

This place is small but packs in a variety of dishes at reasonable prices. The owner is super nice & makes great recommendations. I have tried the beef skewers, hummus & pita, spinach pie & the Mediterranean salad. All great flavors & big portions.

Important (if you don't want to read the review): Use sriracha on that gyro! You're welcome. back to the review.. This is a legit hole in the wall restaurant as it is located in a not so busy plaza with a not so pretty appearance. Guess it comes to show that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover! When you enter, there are only three tables or so and sparse decorations on the greenish-yellow colored wall. That might scare people away as it does not look like a normal restaurant setup, but stay since the food here is super good! Not only is the food good, the owner treats you as if you are his guest at his house! Very nice and welcoming. The menu is quite simple as it ranges from kabobs, salads, falafels, gyros, and homemade desserts. Everything is homemade. I always plan to try something different other than the gyro here, but that always fails. The gyros here are addicting. Plus the gyro is in an awesome lunch deal deal as it includes a gyro, salad (or fries), and a drink all for ~$9. Quite filling too as the portions are HUGE. What's awesome about this place is that you actually see him shave lamb meat off the meat spit (he gives you a heaping amount of it!). From what I saw, only lamb meat is offered for the gyro. All of the salads are in clear view of you behind glass. He has many salads, but I normally get the mediterranean salad since I love banana peppers! Nothing bad to say here! Other than I know I will come back to try the other stuff!

So three years later; I had forgotten that I had previously dined here and I really enjoyed my lunch. It was flavorful, fresh, and plentiful. I had ordered and open faced gyro with side salad (free drink) and enjoyed it tremendously, and it had only set me back about $8. I went back and read my previous review and realized that I had obviously gone in on an off day. I plan on returning in the future for more of the delicious food I was able to enjoy on my last visit.

Stopped here on a road trip through Florida for work after finding it here on Yelp. Super friendly, very affordable and GREAT food.

I don't know who is reviewing this restaurant, it must be people related to the owner, but obviously they don't have any taste buds. This place is really bad. The chicken gyro was bad. The chicken pieces was full of fat and grizzle. The falafel were soft, mushy, bland and not crispy. And the hummus was just bland. I don't recommend this place at all. There are way better places to go to.

Mediterranean Deli and Gyros has been a must have for me for few years now. I just started using Yelp and now I must share this little gem on E. Colonial Drive with you guys! I usually order an open faced gyro which consists of the toppings and the pita bread separate. I normally have half for lunch and the other half for dinner because the owner stuffs those gyros to the max! You can choose from different salads, tabbouleh, Greek or pasta. Delicious Falafel, fresh hummus, stuff grape leaves, kabobs and dessert. The best Gyro in town!!!

Going to school nearby, I decided to look for the hidden eating gems around the area. When it comes to Mediterranean food, I am particular picky with the whole "package." (Quality, price and presentation) This place is not built on looks, which is totally okay. People want to eat good food for a good price! I could only imagine the worst if it got super crowded because there is only 6 tables with majority of each table having 3 chairs but it doesn't seem like that is a problem since most customers are your hard working, sweaty guys who need a good sized portion of protein. I got the gyro combo special. Total came out to be $8.00. Got a free drink and the owner dished out a sample of the pasta salad. Haha, on him, I suppose. Quality of the food for this picky little eater is just one star short for EXCELLENT but that's only because salads for me are super difficult to be impressed with. (I got the Greek salad). The pasta salad was tastier (the little sample he gave me) but I mind my carbs. ;) The gyro though, very good. The portion is enough and it's not rubbery. You can see it being carved out in front of you and he gives it an extra grill to make sure it's nice and hot. Add some Siracha on that sucker and it will sing in your mouth. Laaaaaa!! I got me some grape leaves. I like grape leaves so I don't believe these tasty treat are difficult to make so go ahead and try them! Overall, it's a great place to sate your appetite when you're feeling especially hungry and you're on a budget.

When I heard that the best gyro place is not too far from where I live, I knew I had to check this place out. I've always taken Mediterranean food to be a bit healthy because of the ingredients they use in their salads and side dishes. Gyros might not be the healthiest but they are certainly better choice than a burrito at your closest chipotle. Different category I know, but just makiing a pointless point. ONWARD! I walked into this place and the first thing I noticed were Sriracha bottles on the table. I should probably give it five stars just for that but I wasn't sure what they were there for (or if I had even walked into the wrong place). I met the owner, forgot his name, but he was real friendly and for $8 the special was my choice. Being the foodie that I am, I want to try everything so I wasn't sure which side I wanted but he was nice enough to let me try two different sides with my gyro. Once I sat down I took a bite into the huge gyro and was very pleased. And then... ..I added the sriracha. You've got to be kidding me. Where has this been all my life? I will never eat another gyro without sriracha ever again. Aside from that, the place doesn't look the greatest but it's a nice, inexpensive spot to get some quality Mediterranean food. I sort of excuse the independent ethnic spots for appearance when the food is great. The owner is also friendly and I left happy. Definitely try it out if you are looking to try something different.

This place is dangerously close to my house. Fresh gyros, salads, freshly made rolls and baklava at good prices. The lunch specials are a good deal and the owner is a really nice guy. Very appreciative to have customers. If you live on the east side of town and like big fat meaty gyros then come check this place out. Pick something cold out of his salad case too. It's all really good. There's only three tables in the place so if you have a big crowd you might wanna take it to go but he'll pack it all up nicely for you. He does party trays too.

For me, the gyros here are incredible! A gyro combo comes with fries and a soda for only $7.50, which is great. The gyro meat is piled in (it's a lamb and beef combination) and wrapped with a pita, and stuffed with lettuce, tomato and a huge glob of yogurt sauce. The side of fries he used to serve was just okay, seasoned it seemed with regular salt and black pepper. However, last Friday I visited and noticed little bits of green on the fries. The friendly and helpful owner Hazem told me it was a new seasoning he was trying. It didn't make much of a difference to me, though. Vegetarians rejoice, because Hazem does also offer a variety of salads, from pasta to tabouleh and greek with feta cheese (the last two I've had, and they were quite tasty). Hummus, that Mediterranean staple, is also available. For a change I tried the turkey roll, which was nothing more than turkey wrap with lettuce, tomato and sauce (taziki, I think). It was good. The restaurant itself is located in a small strip mall off Highway 50 and Econlockhatchee. Inside is quite sparse, with only 3 tables, adorned with cheap vinyl table cloth covers and big bottles of Sriracha sauce (goes great in the gyro). This place is a regular spot for me and I can't wait to re-visit again.

Very friendly! Awesome customer service and amazing gyros! Everything was prepared freshly! I'm so full, the gyro was huge!

DELISH!! Today was only the second Sunday they've been open (they've always been closed on Sundays). So. Much. Meat/food! We had the Gyro Combo plate that comes w/fries or your choice of salad and a free drink for $7.50. I had the Tabouli and dh had the Greek salad. Owner was very nice and friendly. We also had a slice of Baklava-I didn't care for it but dh enjoyed it. This establishment is located next to Leaves & Roots (see my review) so this will likely become a regular lunch spot for us on our trip to the herb shop!

Super friendly service and an generous mountain of delicious lamb at a great price makes this a winner in my book. I can usually make three meals out of it! The place itself is pretty nondescript and the bathroom is not the nicest ever, but I'm not complaining because I just go for takeout! ;-)

+ Delicious and authentic + Affordable + Friendly staff + Hole in the wall - No beer ;-)

The second i walked in Hazem was nothing but wonderful. The gyro was to die for, and the amount you get for the price is very generous. Like everyone else has been saying, don't let the sketchy plaza scare you away. Good service, good food, can't wait to go back.

Sad to see this place slip into just another gyro place. When I first started going to the restaurant about 2 years ago it was amazing. Hazem (owner) knew exactly what you wanted when you walked through the door, the prices were good and the portions outstanding. I am sad to say that this is no longer the case. Apparently Hazem passed the shop down to his son and with this came: gyros that are about 1/3rd of the size the used to be, small portions of salad that are miniscule instead of their former size, and an increase of $1.50 on the lunch special. I for one am saddened by this to see such an amazing man pass his business down to someone else who does not seem to care equally about customer satisfaction. If Hazem is working, by all means, your meal will be amazing, but from what I see now under this new management, save your money.

The 5 stars is all for the food and owner. We get so excited before going for great lunch. We sadly just saw he is closed for July. Amazing fresh ingredients. You can watch Hazime (sp?) chop and create great salads and sauce. Big portions of flavorful meats. You can't find better food like this anywhere. You Don't Go For Decor!
(5)Antonio E.
Seriously this place is phenomenal. Not even exaggerating it. Their gyros are amazing. Lamb gyro is my favorite. The owner prepares all the food so it's definitely homemade kind of food. Super nice guy, let's me taste the food before I pick my selection. Def recommend.

Visited for the first time, all the reviewers are right the gyros are giant! My boyfriend and I each got a gyro combo with a salad and a drink. The gyro meat was very tender, next time I will get it in the platter. The boyfriend said this was the best tzatziki he had ever eaten, it had a minty taste to it. He also enjoyed his tabbouleh, I had the Greek salad which was a bit lacking in taste but the idea of large chunks of veggies and feta is promising. We also tried the grape leaves, they were filled with only rice, I enjoyed them but some of the leaves were still a bit stringy, I like my dolmades a bit more tender, but the flavor was great. I'll definitely go back again, the owner was wonderful and let us sample wraps that he makes, they were very good and I probably will get one next time.

Very welcoming and gave a free drink because we came for the first time. Nice owner and generous. Yummy meat and lamb ! We will come again to enjoy with other family members.

Best Mediterranean food around hands down. I worked at a greek place in the mall for years in high school, so I made by hand some of the things they serve here and it tastes amazing! The guy was super nice, but I'm also a fairly talkative person and like to get to know my cook and server. I would return in a heartbeat and this time try some more of those assorted salads and sides. Falafels are divine and fluffy! And for the price... you've gotta be kidding me. If you skip out on this place, you're seriously missing out!
(5)Tony M.
I've only been here once so I haven't tried enough to give it 5 stars. But I am pretty sure it would get them. Everything we had was delicious
(4)Kathy D.
The owner of this joint is very nice, likes to provide great customer service. I ordered the gyro combo which came with fries and a drink for $7.50 or so. He even threw a free grape leaf for me to try. The fries were great, seasoned and cooked to how I like, the only issue was that my yogurt sauce for the gyro was all stuffed at the top and none through out the sandwich. If I didn't fix the issue myself all I would of been eating was the yogurt sauce in my first few bites. Other than that, he packs in the gyro meat very well, so you definitely won't come out hungry when you're down. If you live around the area, its a nice spot to grab and go when you are on your way home or something.
(4)Rebecca G.
I love the tzatziki here...so fresh with a hint of mint! Delicious gyros and there is certainly no skimping on the meat aspect! The owner is so incredibly friendly and is just such a kind and warm individual. Definitely plan on taking a nap after one of the gyros - food coma!
