I was tipped off about this place by a friend as I was looking for a good lunch spot downtown. After taking the first bite of my meal, I immediately sent him a text thanking him for the find! You really can't beat their lunch special - $4.99 for a 1/4 oven roasted chicken with chimichurri sauce and a side! The chicken was seasoned very well and almost had a crisp skin to it because of the surrounding seasoning. The meat was very tender and tasted great with the chimichurri sauce. It wasn't your typical green chimichurri sauce though because there wasn't much parsley added to it. This didn't take away from the flavor though because you could still taste the garlic and vinegar. I chose yellow rice as my side and red beans to accompany it. They also offer other typical Latin dishes including ropa vieja, shredded pork, sweet plantains, and cuban sandwiches. Another dish that looked really good was the tilapia. I will definitely have to come back soon to try it! The place itself is very small so it's more of a take-out establishment. There are a few tables right outside or take a seat on the steps of the nearby buildings and enjoy your meal.

I can't believe the prices. It's so cheap, and the food is great and heavily portioned. I paid 1.50 for a cafe con leche, and 4 bucks for a LOADED Cuban sandwich. Both were authentic and excellent. It's in a great location in front of the SunTrust Center in downtown. There's a nice lawn and a pleasant waterfall fountain out front with plenty of seating. One of my favorite places to eat cheap in Orlando.
(5)A F.
In a word, delicioso! I've tried 3 sandwiches here: the Cuban & the Pepito w/chicken & w/pork (separate). All were SO flavorful & satisfying. And for just $4 for a small, it's ideal for my minimal lunch budget!

Bang for your buck doesn't even begin to describe Latin Square. I have been coming to Latin Square one to three (yes, three) times a week for the past five months since I started working downtown. You might think that number is excessive, but I guarantee you once you try the food here, you would completely understand. Latin Square has a solid menu, packed with specialty sandwiches, salads, soups, and meat dishes. They also have a special every day -- every Thursday is a soup special that my coworker swears by, and every Friday is salmon day, which you would think drives all of downtown Orlando to the place due to it's crazy long lines. I have tried many things on the menu but I like keeping it simple with their delectable shredded pork, yellow rice and seasoned potatoes. Every time I think I might be getting tired of this place, I just take a fork full of pork, dipped in their delicious cilantro sauce, and that thought completely vanishes. It's that good. Perhaps even better than their mouthwatering food is their prices and portion sizes. You can get said shredded pork and any two sides for $7.99, which for any regular amount of food is a great deal, until you see how much they load your plate with. They give you so much food that for most normal people, it is enough to have plenty of leftovers for the next day. After I receive my food, by the time I get back to my office, my arms are sore because of how jam packed and heavy the container is. Lastly, the service is speedy and the folks there are super nice. Although the line can get very long at times -- sometimes you'll be waiting for 5-10 minutes before even stepping foot inside -- once you get to the counter, it only takes a couple minutes before you're out the door with your meal. There are a lot of great places to go for lunch in downtown Orlando, but Latin Square is by far my favorite, and the place I'll miss most if I ever leave.
(5)Omaira D.
I've only ever had the sandwiches but this place is GOOD. I mean DAMN GOOD. They tend to have a line that wraps along the outside, but it moves quickly so dont be discouraged. They over a selection of hot sandwiches and cafteria type spanish staples. I highly recommemd their Pepito and Latin Square sandwiches for first timers.

I am so happy to have found this place--yelp is really saving me since moving to a new city. This place is conveniently located in the business center of town. It was a 5 minute walk from the library, where I'm camped out this summer studying for the bar. It was busy even at 2:15, so plan accordingly. I had the quarter chicken with two sides--flavorful, juicy, and generous. Took home most of the Moro rice and plantains. My boyfriend devoured the Latin Square Sandwich, which was delicious and again huge for the size. For 2 people with drinks and leftovers it was $15. You just can't improve on this place.
(5)Francisco N.
I come here very often for lunch. Pretty much everything tastes good but my favorites are Chicken Baja soup, ropa vieja and pepito panini. Portions are huge and can easily feed two. I usually eat half for lunch and the second half later.
(5)Wagner D.
Simply amazing! Consistently great food and service. These guys work hard and care about their customers.
(5)Matt H.
I worked across the street at the Grand Bohemian hotel for a few years and as soon as this place opened I was instantly hooked. We're talking 5 days a week grabbing lunch there, hooked. The owners are awesome. They somehow still remember your name even though they have millions of regulars. And their food is consistently authentic and delicious. To this day I haven't found a better chimichurri.
(5)Jordan O.
I cannot get over how amazing the food is here while still being cheap and quick to grab. I've been a few times and in that time I've had the cuban, latin square sandwich, rice, beans, plantains and ropa vieja and each was delicious. The only minor complaint would be that the latin square sandwich is tough to get everything into one bite and you end up dropping some potato straws out of the sandwich. Otherwise, literally 0 complaints - especially when you add the garlic or cilantro sauce that they have which are both excellent. Lastly, the price, it's easily a $5-$8 lunch and you will be full the whole afternoon. Be ready to wait in line for a few minutes if you get there at 12, but the food is mostly already ready, so you don't have to wait much longer than just going through the line.

I needed to update my review because Latin Square has expanded!! It now has indoor seating and a very clean, open feel! Of course- the food is still insanely good and the smell still drifts down the street (I guarantee you half their business is just random folks following their nose!). Another plus is that they have wifi- just ask at the counter. Unfortunately it's not an easy password, nor is the name of the network intuitive but I don't think it's the kind of place where they want you posting up for hours on your laptop! Finally, the owner is SUPER friendly and jokes around with everyone in the restaurant. This is a huge plus because it's obvious the folks working there are happy and believe in their food. This is my favorite quick lunch spot in DT right now because it reminds me of the amazing meals I used to get on the reg when I lived in Miami!
(5)Colleen B.
This spot is a reason I adore the Yelp community... they help me find spots I have never been in a city I have lived in for 14 years! Absolutely authentic and delicious. Located in the courtyard of The Suntrust Building in DT Orlando. Yes, a very small storefront - however the outdoor area on a nice day is the perfect place to sit and relax with breakfast or lunch. The staff was quick and awesome. They usually have a line at lunch so be prepared but it moves fast. The bread = crispy, fluffy pillows of bread heaven. True cuban bread that makes me drool at first touch. Andi P and I shared the Latin Square Sandwich and it was heaven. A mix or salty and sweet and perfectly filling. It was shredded pork with plantains, crispy potato sticks and some amazing sauces. It was finger licking good. No joke. We also shared a papa rellena - yummmmmmm! Yes, we had two items with meat and potatoes in it. That's how I roll! We finished with my very first Quesito and it was delicious. Perfectly flaky and light. The right way to end this lunch! They have daily specials and their prices all around are just phenomenal for the quality and flavor of the food. They use family recipes and you can tell! I have to make it back from breakfast and cuban espresso!
(5)Rene D.
A quick walk from Dr Phillips Center. This is in the Suntrust Center courtyard. Nice to sit outside, although they do have a few cafe high tables inside. Two Cuban Sammys and rice n red beans yummy. Almost forgot the sweet Plantains for a sweet finish. Perfect feast for lunch after driving up from Lauderdale with Motown. Loading in the show this eve!!
(4)Jeremy M.
Latin Square is a great value. I'm surprised they haven't really raised their prices since they began getting so much traffic. There's always a line between 12 and 1, so try to avoid that time if possible. Of all the meats, the ropa vieja is the best. Make sure you try the garlic sauce!
(5)Andrew H.
Latin Square is a hidden gem in the downtown area. If you work downtown, chances are you are familiar with this wonderful little place and what it offers. But, for those of you not familiar...I thought I would share it with you. The inside of Latin Square is small and everything is made to go. They offer a variety of traditional dishes such as Picadillo, Ropa Vieja, Cuban Sandwiches and Oven Roasted Chicken. You can also find items like Cuban Gumbo, Tuna Sandwiches and Grilled Salmon on Fridays. For that little pick me up, Latin Square has a nice selection of espresso's, cafe con leches, pastries and other deserts.
(4)Matt M.
Great Latin flavors, huge portions, and a really good deal for lunch. I always have enough left over for a second meal.
(4)Derek H.
Great spot for lunch or breakfast. Food is really good. Can get a little busy at lunch but they do a good job of keeping the line moving. I would say this is one of my favorite spots for lunch.
(5)Steven M.
Really good food. Pulled chicken was very moist and delicious. The owner talked on the phone with us and gave us directions and stayed on the phone all the way until we got there. Very good service.
(5)Jeremy S.
Absolutely delicious. What an incredible find! Their Ropa Vieja is delicious and the prices are very reasonable. I definitely recommend Latin Square (especially if you work downtown).
(5)Mahmoud E.
Place is clean , very busy at lunch but only cause they have really good food for a very reasonable price.
(5)Michael G.
The Latin Square Sandwich ranks up there with my all-time favorites. So many good things are packed inside! Downtown location is perfect for lunch and prices are reasonable. New expanded store offers a few indoor seats, but most folks still eat outside in the nice courtyard.
(5)Dee F.
I love this place!!!! I'm a Miami native, so I'm very familiar with good Latin food. This place is on the money. Actually, the only thing I've tried was the steak sandwich (pan con bistec) and it was close to perfect. Orlando has a lot of misses when it comes to Latin food. But this place...5 stars!!!
(5)Robyn B.
Once again Yelp helped me find a new place that I definitely wouldn't mind visiting again :) Although the restaurant was not quite what I was expecting, it was still nice. The establishment is located in the Suntrust building downtown Orlando on Orange Ave. You walk in, order, pay and leave. There aren't any chairs or tables inside the restaturant; however, there are a few tables, chairs and benches located in the courtyard of the building that make it a nice place to sit and have lunch. There are a variety of menu items to choose from and they also have a lunch special every day. My visit was on a Friday and the special was Grilled Salmon with one side for 6.99 or two sides for 7.99. The portions were HUGE! I was able to have half for lunch and half for dinner. My sides were roasted potatoes and mixed vegetables. The whole meal had a fantastic flavor. My only drawback is that the location requires you to park in a near by parking garage. For those who aren't working in the downtown area, allow yourself enough time to park and walk to get your food. I was able to go on my day off so it was no problem; however, for those who have to get back to work I encourage you to plan accordingly. I will definitely be coming back here!!!

I finally was able to try this place out. Was hyped based off of the reviews. The latin square sandwich is delish and worth the carb calories! Also tried a beef empanada and a quesito, both were adequate. The line was out the door by 11:30 and continued until I left about an hour later. Seating is limited, but if you are able to, grab a table outside. The reason for 3 stars.....the service. My friend and I stepped up to order. One young lady took our order and we proceeded to the cashier to pay. As we were waiting to pay another young lady asked us if we had been helped and we indicated that we placed our orders with her co-worker. My friend and I paid and then proceeded to wait, and wait, and wait. After several customers received their orders (they ordered after we did) I walked up to the counter and inquired about our food. Well they skipped us. So we waited another 10 mins for our food. My guess was they had a couple of new people and they weren't quite getting the hang of the food flow. Well for as busy as they get hopefully they get this under control. It can deter customers from returning if they get the feeling of being ignored or in our case just entirely skipped over. Let's see how it goes next time.
(3)Carey S.
This is my favorite lunch spot in downtown. Authentic and tasty chicken beans and rice. The price is very reasonable and they get you in and out. Their sauces and side items are delicious as well. You can't beat the smell coming from the place! Sometimes I wish their quarter pieces of chicken were larger, but I usually get half anyway. They also have really good pulled pork, beef, and chicken. The helpings of these are very large! I've heard the empanadas are great too!
(5)Rinaldo C.
For $5 you'd be hard pressed to find a side salad anywhere else downtown, whereas at Last Square you can get everything on the menu, including a Cuban sandwich (appropriately pressed I might add). The food is prepared fresh and the menu had just enough for anyone's tastes. The cooks ate authentic Cuban so you cannot go wrong giving this place a try. My personal recommendation is the Ropa vieja with yellow rice and beans.
(5)Negar S.
I went there for lunch with my fiancé.. He ordered the pepito with steak and his sandwich was amazing. I ordered the Cuban style shredded steak which was also pretty good but could have had more flavor. I added some hot sauce to my dish. The plantains side was amazing as was the flan. And you definitely get a ridiculous amount of meat for the price they charge. Definitely worth it and would go here again if I lived here!
(4)Ferd M.
This place is basically perfect. It's a really small building (usually with a line snaking out the door), hours are limited and so is parking, but if you work downtown or have free time around noon on a weekday, you MUST try it. EDIT: They expanded! Same location but more room and a few indoor seats. Their classic Latin menu items are excellent, but my favorite is the Pepito sandwich. It has a little bit of everything, with multiple sauces and potato sticks. On top of everything else, the staff is super quick and you can get lunch for two people for about $10. Where else can you do that? They're also really nice; they recognize us and know our usual orders. I adore this place. I only wish it were open more often. Make sure to get there early because sometimes they run out of food and close by 2 pm!
(5)Cecille R.
Have to rave about their breakfast pastries! Yuuuuuuuuuuuumy!!! Normally they are always picked over and/sold out but this morning I got to work early and made a visit . Plenty of choices. I don't know the proper names but I picked one of the long pastries with cheese and topped with sugar and another pastry filled with guava and cheese. These 2 pastries cost me $2.12 including tip! Simply delicious and every bite was worth it. My tummy HIGHLY recommends! :)
(5)John F.
Great food and a good price. I'm a sandwich fan. Working my way through the menu and everything have been quality so far.
(4)Brian L.
It's hard for me to stay away from this place, the food is that good. It's also a tremendous value. The portions are large and the price is small, can't beat that! I typically get the Ropa Vieja with yellow rice and red beans with a side of garlic sauce. Their sandwiches are very good as well and a small one definitely fills you up. Get a large and have lunch and dinner ready to go. The area is a little cramped at the height of the lunch rush, but it's worth it.
(4)John O.
This place does all their food well. I have eaten most everything at this place, from sandwiches, soups, tilapia, and to the amazing cordaditio (Cuban espresso). Also the salmon on Fridays is great! The portions are huge and the price is just right. Love this place!
(4)Carlos M.
I work downtown on Orange Ave which doesn't make me a food expert but I have ate literally all over DT. This place is amazing food, fresh, and very reasonably priced compared to other places. The business seems to be family owned and I've had my company cater them a hand full of times. Their Cubans are amazing and their black bean rice of course is good. They have tons of authentic Cuban delicacies I'm not familiar with but look good. Downside: - There is a fly problem sometimes just buzzing around. Never a food issue. - The place is small and the line can get rather long on weekdays.
(5)Andree M.
Latin Square in downtown Orlando honestly has the best everything. The food there is fantastic and cheap. I recommend the pork Pepito with everything on it along with a spicy sauce and a chimichurri one (I like mixing the two together). Get the 4 inch. Trust me on this. The bigger one is just too much food. You are out the door for under $7 and stuffed. Also bring a mint or two for after you eat as your breath will wreak of garlic and onion goodness. Great for you, bad for everyone else.
(5)Neil B.
Awesome place for breakfast or lunch! The line out the door is a good indication of the quality of the food. The Cafe' Con Leche' is the real deal! Portions are HUGE - I had the roasted pork with rice, beans and plantains and made 2 meals of it. Pork could have been a bit more juicy, but overall, exceptional value. They even loaded upon on the plantains, which I paid extra for as my 3rd side dish. Very nice staff. Take out only - although there are community tables outside. Can't go wrong with this place for a quick, hearty, authentic Cuban meal (or authentic enough for the average Gringo).
(4)Katelyn B.
Sooooo good... Literally everything I've ever had has been delicious and the cashier/owner is so nice! To top it off, prices are ridiculously low and they heap on a LOT of food. Seriously, I don't know how they make $ with the portions for that price, but I'm grateful they do!
(5)Ricardo S.
Really good Cuban food, nice and cheap. I wish I'd had more time to kill: I would've gotten dessert! I got a half Cuban sandwich and a half pepito. They were both great, and reminded me of my favorite Cuban place back home.
(4)Alyx K.
Best deal for downtown lunch, hands down. The 1/4 chicken with a side of black beans for $5 is my go-to here. The chimichurri sauce and crispy skin are both SO GOOD. Would also recommend the ropa vieja, or if you're stopping in for breakfast, Cuban espresso and $1 guava pastries.
(5)Sydney K.
Latin Square is one of the reasons I miss working downtown. Good food, large portions, and a lovely area to sit outside make it an enjoyable lunch experience downtown. I normally got the 1/4 roasted chicken with maduros. $4.99 for a lot of food sounds good to me! The maduros were okay, but most of the time they were oily to the point of almost being slimy. No bueno. The chicken was tasty, and the crispy skin was a guilty pleasure of mine. The chimichurri sauce was different in that it was more acidic than the type I've had in Argentinian food, but I still enjoyed it. There's a hot sauce they make themselves that's really tasty with the chicken as well. The Cuban chicken gumbo soup is another solid choice for lunch. While 3.50 didn't quite fill me up, I was satiated for the rest of the afternoon. Another patron recommended I try the hot sauce with the gumbo, and the spicy combination made my mouth sing. My favorite item here was the ropa vieja. Oh my goodness, the juicy, sweet shredded beef was so great. They also didn't skimp on the serving, so it was always more than enough for lunch. The problem is that they often run out by the end of the afternoon, so don't count on it being there if you have a later lunch like I did. Overall a solid lunch choice in downtown with a lovely area to dine outside.
(4)Seth H.
Heaping portions of meat. Incredible bread that rivals Philly. My sandwich had plantains and crunchy potato sticks in the freaking sandwich!!! I could eat here every day & if you don't you're nuts. My girl's roasted 1/2 chicken came just out of the oven and the rice/beans...perfect. Come downtown just to sample this delicious place.
(5)Aubrey H.
Just an amazing place! Ropa Vieja is to die for. Get the Pepito with ropa and white cheese. THE BEST!
(5)M. Isabel M.
One of favorite places to have lunch. Convenient walking distance from most buildings in downtown Orlando. Love their array of special sauces to go with anything you order. My favorites: the pork Pepito sandwich or the shredded roast pork with Moro rice & sweet plantains. Tip: go before noon or the lines get REALLY long!
(4)Danny M.
Right by my office this place is amazing, my personal favorites are Thursdays special "Chupe" a chicken stew and the magical Moro rice
(5)Ho L.
I had the Shredded Pork with white rice and black beans. The portions were huge, with several cups of rice, and they gave a hearty portion of meat and beans. The pulled pork was flavorful, without being overly salty...all for $5.99! Only the hungriest of the hungry would be able to finish one of the house specials with two sides (for just a buck more no less). THe rotating daily special offers a nice variety of dishes at the same reasonable prices. I have not yet tried any of the sandwiches, but will definitely be back soon to do so! You can't do much better for Latin food in the downtown central business district.
(4)Darcie B.
I get lunch from Latin Square at least once a week. 99% of the time I get the special which includes 1/4 chicken and 1 side for only $4.99 plus tax. It's a lot of food at the right price. You can ask for all white meat for a small up charge. You can also upgrade the special for 2 sides for only $5.99 plus tax. Sides - white rice, yellow rice, black beans, potatoes, plantains, vegetables, etc. I highly recommend this place. It's definitely worth a try for $5.
(4)Matthew A.
Love the pepito chicken sandwich! Try the beans as well.
(5)Cheryl F.
Delicious food!!!! Oh my! I had some Cuban chicken dish, my sister had a Cuban sandwich and my friend had the soup. We also had the tres leches cake. All were very good and we ate each of our cake. After each bite, we raved about how DELISH it was. Go there for some good Cuban food. Their plantains are good too.
(5)Thang B.
I love their 1/4 chicken lunch specials! The chicken is seasoned well and moist.
(4)Cliffy M.
Latin Square Cuisine just opened in the space formerly occupied by Havana Cafe, in the plaza outside the SunTrust Tower. The food seems to be a bit better than the former occupant's, and from what I can see, they seem to be doing a lot more business. This is a really good downtown choice for a fast, tasty lunch at a good price. Similar cuisine, but a bit better. Service is much faster. Staffed with servers up front, workers in the kitchen, and a full time cashier. Very nice people and trying very hard. They have a steam table across the front of the store with the specials and the sides. Everything is served up 'to go" since the seating is all outside under the trees. You can get and go quite quickly, although I've seen a line out the door at the peak lunch hours. It doesn't hurt business that you can smell the good aromas all the way out to the street. I had the Ropa Vieja with two sides for $6.99. A lot of food. I mean, I was done for the day. You get a pile of savory Ropa Vieja meat in a tasty broth. One of my sides was rice and black beans. And that alone could have fed an army. I have not tried the sandwiches. Those seem smallish at 4"or 6" increments. At the risk of starting the recipe equivalent of a land war in Asia, the black beans were good. (When I lived in Miami, discussions of how to make black beans often devolved into near riots. Everyone has their own way to make black beans, which of course is the BEST and ONLY way and their Abuela made them THAT WAY. Imagine the videos of the cities in Spain that engage in tomato throwing battles, only more passionate. But I digress.) The only downside I see is that by 2:00 I was slipping into a post lunch food coma. So I had their Cuban Coffee. That got me going faster than a David Pittman oil change!
(4)Pauline C.
It's the best Latin food I've ever had! I missed working downtown and a great part of it is due to this little place. Its a hole in the wall. You could smell the food before you turn the corner! Yes people garlic is good for you! Make sure you get the grilled chicken. I've never tasted chicken this flavorful. Must try the chimichurri sauce and cilantro ranch with the chicken. I also like their pepito sandwiches. Did I mentioned that the price is awesome and portion is huge? Jewel of downtown!
(5)Mark H.
The food is delicious. Everything is seasoned well and the portions are huge for the price. The food is fresh and tasty. This is a great spot if you are craving Cuban food. I recommend the Latin square sandwich. Incredible! The line can get long there but they move quickly and worth the wait. If you are in downtown area, I highly recommend.
