Everything has changed. There is only one waitress who has been there since I started going there, which has been more than ten years. Everything's instant, except the eggs. Hash browns were terrible last week. The toast is barely tan. It's still soft. It's as if they just put the bread in the toaster for 5 seconds. Corned beef hash is obviously from a can. Instant pancake mix (Aunt Jemima). Their food used to be great. The new cook apparently doesn't care about the customers. The only thing that's any good are the eggs. Unless they use Egg Beaters for scrambled eggs. I don't see myself coming back anytime soon. If I want food in a hurry, I'll cook it at home. At least the service is good and the waitresses are always nice.

Some might call this place a dive. I say dive in! The place is small. Don't bring a large group here. It fills up fast. And there's little question why. I'm a fry snob. Let me tell you: the steak fries are to die for. Nothing fancy, just everything a steak fry should be. I wish they were open for longer hours. But I'm willing to come in on weekends if that's what it takes for such quality. The cheeseburgers are really good here too. I might order my burger medium well next time. The well done burger is a bit on the dry side. Ask for a side of mayo, and sprinkle a little salt on the patty, though, and you'll be all set! If you do get fries, make sure you ask for steak fries. They also have crinkle-cut fries, but I've not tried those yet. My wife likes the breakfast here, but I'm not much of a breakfast person. I want to try other items from the menu, but the burger and fries keep calling me...

Everyone raves about this place but after multiple visits I cannot comprehend why. The food is good, but the service is not. My glass of water always has an oily film on it which just grosses me out. I have really tried to like this place but every time they just fail to get me to like it. Bobs diner near Conway has amazing food and better service.

This place pretty much defines greasy spoon, but then really isn't that exactly what you want? Go. Order anything. Enjoy. Laugh with your waitress. Pay almost nothing. Go again. Become a regular. Enjoy some more. Basically, unless you're looking for health food, what's not to love?

They served my mom and I our eggs, bacon, and grits so fast that, had they not been piping hot, I would have thought the meals were waiting for us when we walked in. The classic rock also made for a perfect atmosphere.

After seeing that my neighbor went to Jack & Mary's yesterday on their FB wall, my wife asked about the place. She was told that were regulars there in High School and how good the food is. Well knowing what kind of foodie I am she asked me to look into them. After reading a mixture of good and bad reviews, I relied on the Yelpers with an Elite badge and decided they were worth trying out. When we arrived the place was full except for three seats at the counter. There was an older gentleman at the counter which turned out to be the owner working the register. There were three servers on staff and it turned out one of them was actually the manager and there were several cooks working in an open kitchen area. ALL of the staff was very professional and attentive to the small details that are usually overlooked in a busy diner. Our server got us our coffee and I chose to see what she would recommend. After trying to get her to recommend what was popular I kept being told everything. Usually when a server gives me an answer like that it is because they don't know their menu. Nothing could be further from the truth in this case. My wife ordered a cheese omelet and added back, onion and jalapeno with a side of fruit and rye toast that she never eats and some salsa. I chose the eggs Benedict, grits and always have some uneaten rye toast... lol In less than 5 minutes my breakfast was in front of me but it took about 2 more minutes for my wife's plate to arrive and yes, I took pictures. I sampled her omelet and I will admit, it was cooked perfectly and just the right about of salt and pepper in the eggs. That salsa was nicely flavored and tasted like home made and not from a jar. A side of fruit does not thrill me much but the strawberries and cantaloupe were perfectly ripe which was nice. Usually the fresh fruit in a place is never at peak ripeness. Now for my plate... The grits were perfectly cooked and not too much salt for a change. I was served REAL BUTTER to put on them for a change. The eggs Benedict had a nice layer of flavor but two things stood out. The ham was not at all salty so it balanced the other flavors well. I would have preferred a lemon taste in the Hollandaise sauce but considering this was in a diner and not a foo foo place, I felt it was appropriate to give it a more down home country taste. Rye toast is a favorite of mine and theirs was good and had just the right amount of butter on it since I did not order it dry. During the entire meal my server never walked by without checking the level of my coffee cup. As the tables were emptying out, they were turned over VERY fast and EVERYBODY was working like a well oiled TEAM and I do mean TEAM. The cooks ALL had one glove on and used to other to just hold a utensil. They were changing gloves and hands as required every time. Usually the cooks take shortcuts but NOT these cooks and that right there says a lot. After my meal I wanted a glass of juice and I was pleasantly surprised to see they use my favorite brand of FRESH SQUEEZED Indian River juice. The only things I can even be "nit picky" about was seeing the owner roll the silverware at the counter instead of behind the counter but if that is the worst thing I can say about this dining experience, then a JOB WELL DONE to ALL of the STAFF at Jack and Mary's. Would I come back??? Would I recommend them??? IN A HEARTBEAT My biggest complaint is I did not find this little gem of a mom n pop diner sooner!

Quiet gem tucked away in a plaza you wouldn't expect such a flavor from! I had the sirloin streak cooked medium, hash browns w/ a splash of ketchup and a pair of eggs done over easy. White toast served on side. The wife had a pair of eggs scrambled with cheese, home fries, bacon and sausage; needless to say the plate was gone in seconds. If you're looking for a small town of a feel breakfast spot and you're local, look no further! Awesome staff!

Ok I love love this place. Now if you go here expect it to be loud and busy! not somewhere you want to go if you are looking for a peaceful breakfast. If you are looking for awesome food and nice people then this is your place. The first time I went I tried almost everything I could think of and I did not regret any of it. I had cheese grits, biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, and tried some of my wife's food french toast and some other things I can't remember it all, but all was very good! Again not quite and peaceful, but we love it and have been back many times since.

Jack & Mary's is a love it or hate it kind of place. I'm in the love camp, but it's mostly due to a sense of nostalgia for places like this. The restaurant has been here forever, and although I have only been coming here for 5 years or so, I imagine it's probably looked and felt exactly the same since it first opened. The wall by the grill is decorated with pictures of baseball players from long ago. Homey seasonal decorations are on all of the other walls. It's simple and reflects the care the owners put into the place. I like that. Breakfast here is pretty darn good. I always get the 1x4 breakfast: 1 egg, 1 biscuit with gravy, 1 sausage link, and 1 bacon strip. I don't deviate. Service is good. The waitresses are fast refilling coffee, and to me that is the most important thing about a breakfast place. They work together so you always have someone checking on you. Jack & Mary's tends to fill up by about 10 on a weekends, so if you can manage to get there early I recommend it. We met for breakfast with a group here last weekend and arriving early was great because we were able to pull a couple tables together. Since it is a small place and has smaller booths/tables it can be tricky to seat a large group but the waitresses will make it work. I have been here once for lunch. After raving about Jack & Mary's to my coworkers they decided to give it a try. They were not impressed. I was so sad. I suppose if you are into polished chain places then this will terrify you. Be strong and give it a chance. Overall I think Jack & Mary's is a great place and I always recommend friends that live in the area give it a try. It's nothing special, and that's what makes it special. An ordinary mom & pop place in a world full of boring chains.

I am in love! I found this diner on Yelp when my bestfriend and I were hungry for breakfast food during the afternoon. It is a small diner/restaurant that you would miss if you didn't know it was there. It's in the same shopping plaza as Goodwill. This diner is small, with maybe 15 tables and a counter top bar you can sit at. The staff is very friendly and know their menu. They have something for everyone here. I ordered an omelette with grits and my bestfriend ordered their eggs, toast, bacon and pancakes special. For both our meals and coffee, we paid less than $20 including tip. Will definitely return, especially since it's right down the road from where I live.

The breakfast in this diner is soooooo good! It's a must visit for breakfast kind of place! It does get really busy and it's a small place my advice sit at the front bar space area service is much faster since you are sitting right upfront! The customer service is great they make sure they keep your coffee fresh and always filled!!! Try the Spanish omelette it's very good!! Oh and the potatoes... Ugh now I want some!!! Breakfast goodness!!!

Good breakfast, ok lunches. The specials they have posted are the way to go for meal choices. A bit expensive for what you get but it beats ihop, dennys, or any chain breakfast every time! Attentive staff, great local feel to this place.

Because this reminds me of an old diner/greasy spoon back up north/home I really wanted to love it. Orlando is full of chains so I really was excited to find this place. It's super tiny and cramped. Not very clean. Waitresses SCREAM (I've been there about 5x) and they always scream and are very rushed. It's just an average breakfast. Nothing great. I love and hate that you can see the cooks/food area. Love that it usually means they keep it clean if the public can see it, HATE that the cooks look like they just came out from sleeping under a bridge. The roughest looking things I've ever seen. I've given it plenty of tries since I live right around the corner, but I won't be back.

This is the first time that I've been to this restaurant. The gravy that accompanied the homemade mashed potatoes was good enough to drink. I've been told that the omelets are the best. . They're only open for breakfast and lunch. I would HIGHLY recommend this place.

Nice old school diner with good service. I went on a weekday before 8am and had pancakes, hash browns, and bacon. They were great! The only waitress there was friendly and prompt. Food was ready in a flash. Considering the lack of options, this is probably the best breakfast in the area. A good local option if you're craving diner food.

Loved this place the first about 7 times I went. Food was great, service great, prices great. Then the cook changed and I refuse to go back. Service and prices still great. Food is a nooooooo. I've gone back about 4 times hoping the old cook was back but no. I tried to eat it but i can't do it. And one of the cooks which I think is a waiter too, touches the food with no gloves which drives me crazy. So I will not be going back. The omelets were the best thing they had worth every penny. Also had the pancakes and biscuits which were just regular.

Instead of a stand-alone diner, this one is built into a strip mall and as a result, is almost impossible to find unless you're looking for it. Friendly staff, fresh OJ from somewhere local poured from a jug, the grill is visible to all with a mound of hash browns on it, they actually know what tea is (albeit barely), and just about everything we ate was good, include the huge ham slice to go with the french toast. 'bout the only thing I would not recommend are the biscuits and gravy, which are a great value but aren't very good. Given the lack of other interesting food options around outside of chains (even if the chains are quite good), this place stood out enough that we went back.

My wife and I come here often. Great food. Great staff. The food has become hit or miss lately. I'm a bit of a stickler when it comes to scrambled eggs. Used to be you'd get scrambled eggs. Lately they give you a plain omelette. I suppose most don't care since that's become the standard for most restaurants, but it's not the same. Still, overall the food is great. Just come early if it's the weekend. The place is small and fills up fast

I have been going here for the last 15 years for lunch and breakfast. I have never eaten inside because it has always been to busy! So, I get it to go! With this place, it is generally always been good. Unfortunately they tend to change the cooking staff a lot, varying the quality of food from time to time! For example; biscuits and gravy will taste great 3 out of 5 times...... For me, that's ok. For my wife, not so good. Those other 2 times it's good, just NOT great! Because, once you've had GREAT at this place, nothing else will do...... Please try and maintain some consistency so I can continue to eat here! LoL

We looked online to check the reviews to try a new breakfast place and came across jack and Mary's so my husband and I decided to go. We were a little disappointed. The prices are ok but the food isn't as great as everyone on the reviews says it is. The pancakes were a little undercooked and the eggs were overcooked. Overall if you're looking for breakfast you can cook at home you should go to jack and Mary's.

Where do I start? Ok, here: Service- two panicked and frazzled servers running around like they each had fifteen tables to serve, there were five. Between the both of them. Five tables. She brought our check right after she set our food down. Want some of that nice lookin chocolate cake after your meal? Too bad. Biscuits- dry, crumbly, obviously been sitting around for a while Gravy- flavorless, glumpy, did not help the biscuit Corned beef hash- canned dog food with little potato bits, inedible, a damnable abomination of hash. Homefries- quick steamed potatoes thrown on the flat top for a minute, no seasoning, had to drown them in ketchup and hot sauce to force them down my throat. Eggs- cooked right, but I ruined them by mixing them with the hash. It was the only way I could swallow the four bites I choked down. Coffee- weak and bad, tasted like chickory I felt bad that my husband had to pay for that meal. I feel even worse that my intestines didn't hold on to it for long :( BIG FROWN!

I love this place. Being from NY, I miss the typical "hole in the wall" diners that are so easy to come upon for breakfast. They're almost nonexistent down here. Well, I found a place right down the road from me called Jack & Mary's. They're only open for lunch and breakfast but it's some decent diner food at decent prices. People don't go there for the ambiance, but perfect for a simple home cookin' type breakfast. It's a small place and it's a bit buried in the plaza it's in so keep your eyes peeled.

this is one of our favorite breakfast diners. we go here all the time. while we have had great experiences every time we've gone, for the most part, there are a few pitfalls to avoid, many of which were pointed out by Krista below. i see nothing wrong with my server having a sense of urgency regardless of how busy it is. we have never had a problem with getting refills, and i imagine none of the other customers do either because yes, the servers do move about in a frenzy. i honestly wish all servers moved as fast as they do. when it is busy, it's really helpful and kinda fun to watch. The reason you're supposed to go to jack and mary's is breakfast eggs or omelets. they do have daily specials that i typically steer clear of. yah, The hash is straight out the can. not sure why i'd order a biscuit when they have the most amazing rye toast. working in a breakfast diner myself, i know better than to get gravy because gravy is one of those things that if you order it at the wrong time of day, i.e. 4-5 hours after it's been made, it's gonna be nasty. the potatoes come unseasoned and there's salt and pepper conveniently located at every table for that. if you want more flavorful homefries, i suggest ordering them with onions. the servers often offer that option when you order homefries. lastly, but extremely important: The best time to go is in The morning. this is a rule i follow whenever dealing with any breakfast diner or restaurant that closes at 2pm for The most part. if you show up at 1pm or so, the staff is going to be ready to leave, which is unfortunate because they're gonna be focused on cleaning and closing instead of you and your family and yah, The gravy's gonna be pretty damn 'glumpy'. ok, so now that's outta The way. you wanna look for a tallish, skinny white guy with a mustache at The grill. if he's there, you're in good hands. he's gonna get your eggs right on The money every time and he's super fast. the farmer's omelet is great, as is the spinach, tomato, and feta omelet. they're great about making changes to any of the menu items as well. bottom line is as quickly as everyone moves, which is again exactly what i like to see when i'm waiting on my breakfast, we still get plenty of friendly attention and the price is very reasonable.

I wanted to like this place. It holds a certain charm when you're looking in from the outside, reminiscent of a NY diner. Let me start out by saying that the coffee was absolutely terrible, even cream (which I normally don't put in my coffee) and sugar didn't make it better, so I asked for a water and drank that instead. I ordered the eggs Benedict special for $6.99 and was not all that impressed. The hollandaise sauce was just a lumpy mess that had to have come from one of those 59cent instant packets they sell at walmart. The home fries were bland, and the name "fries" is misleading because these were just mashed potatoes tossed for a few seconds on the griddle, not crispy, or appetizing for that matter. My friend had the french toast special ($5.99) It came with eggs and sausage, she wasn't all that impressed either, even more so when she got sick to her stomach about half an hour later. The only thing I really liked about this place was the staff. Super attentive and friendly, it's really a shame that their food was so mediocre.

This restaurant is in the same shopping center as Goodwill & Winn Dixie. To say this restaurant is Eclectic is an understatement... There was rock music blaring, and the walls were adorned with pictures of ancient baseball players and a hodgepoge of knickknacks. I ordered the Country Fried Steak breakfast with two eggs, ordered over medium, served over easy :-( , grits (good), and a biscuit (dry). I ordered a side of sausage gravy for the biscuit. The Country Fried Steak and sausage gravy were very good! My friend ordered a special that was not on the regular menu, a taco omelette. It was "surprisingly good!" Although, I wouldn't have wanted lettuce on my omelette... He said the cheese grits were good, but I was disappointed that they just threw a slice of American cheese on the top of the grits and called them "cheese grits". The server made a major faux pax... she gave us the check midway through the meal and she said just give me a holler if you need anything. Sorry, but it's not the guests job to yell across a restaurant if they need anything. It's the servers job to check back periodically. She did keep our coffee cups filled though. They serve breakfast all day and they are open until 2:30PM seven days a week (closed Thanksgiving & Christmas).

Not too many local diners in the area, but Jack & Mary's fits the bill. Serving good comfort food at reasonable prices is always a good thing. The location is a little tight, and it could use some sprucing up, but otherwise it's acceptable.

Good but pricey food but owners need to respect their patrons. They serve the meal then practically ask you to leave as they need the table. Don't even try to stay and have another cup of coffee, they will stare you down. Maybe expand and enhance the experience vs running off your patrons!

Fast service, great breakfast food. Reasonably priced. Can't go wrong! Wish they were open longer but I guess not since they do specialize in breakfast food lol but I think breakfast food can be eaten any time of the day. . Anyways, must try it if you've never been ! :)

We really wanted to love this restaurant, but we just didn't. Before anything else, it's important to note that service was awesome. We were well-served. However. I had a meat lovers omelet and a biscuit with gravy. My husband had pancakes and eggs. I'm pretty certain that the only "real" food we had was the eggs. Everything else was processed and prepackaged. I even had a Kraft single 1/4-melted on top of my omelet. Thus, the food was really mediocre. My sausage gravy was alright, until I realized that the sausage was in full patty form at the bottom of my bowl. While the company was great, all in all, the food just sucked.

My husband and I randomly popped in today for breakfast and loved it! It has so much character, huge portions, and a friendly staff. I'll definitely come back again when I'm back in the area.

This restaurant was just okay. The servers seem stressed. Food was okay potatoes undercooked. Your average greasy spoon. I like supporting local businesses so id go again in the future.

LoL

Great Breakfast and fast service! Prices are reasonable.

They have great food great service. Nancy has been our server for the last 10 years. The kids love her. The prices are fair. It feels like the family owned diners from up north. It is a piece of home.

chip beef gravy was awesome!

Super friendly, super fast, super good, super cheap. This place is awesome, great toast, eggs, and pancakes. Ultra soft and flakey biscuts. It's a must if you like any diner.

this is one of our favorite breakfast diners. we go here all the time. while we have had great experiences every time we've gone, for the most part, there are a few pitfalls to avoid, many of which were pointed out by Krista below. i see nothing wrong with my server having a sense of urgency regardless of how busy it is. we have never had a problem with getting refills, and i imagine none of the other customers do either because yes, the servers do move about in a frenzy. i honestly wish all servers moved as fast as they do. when it is busy, it's really helpful and kinda fun to watch.

(3)Wayne E.
Good but pricey food but owners need to respect their patrons. They serve the meal then practically ask you to leave as they need the table. Don't even try to stay and have another cup of coffee, they will stare you down. Maybe expand and enhance the experience vs running off your patrons!
(2)Laura L.
