Excellent dinner, use the 25% coupon. Host was wonderful, waitress bit of a zombie. The crab bisque and ahi appetizers were tasty, don't go for the vegan in phyllo dough, it's ho hum. The scallops were delicious.

Great decor, excellent service and delicious food. Win-win-win! We had the chef's special... steak medallions, grilled shrimp, grilled veggies, black rice risotto. It was all delicious! My only reason for giving four star instead of five is that the chef ignored my request for medium-well on the steak and it was actually medium-rare... bleeding all over the plate. Not my favorite. It was good, but could have been better. I would totally go back!

My wife and I went here for dinner one evening with some friends from church. We were promptly greeted by the hostess at the door, and were taken to the table reserved for four people. Our host, Jonathan asked if they had lamb on the menu that evening, because he enjoyed it so much on a previous visit. The waiter went to check and later informed us that lamb was not available that evening. We all proceeded to place our orders. I had one of the most delicious steaks that I have ever had. My wife had salmon that was wrapped in bacon, that she thoroughly enjoyed. Come to think of it, anything wrapped in bacon is fabulous. The wine, the food, the cocktails, the coffee, All of it was wonderful. Here's the reason for my five stars...The Chef, upon realizing that we were repeat visitors, meaning locals and not tourists, had brought to our table a dessert platter for all four of us to share. Now THAT, is called "exceeding expectations." The food, service, the environment, it was all worth a repeat visit. "Jacks," I'll be seeing you again.

Thank goodness for magical dining month! My husband and I had a decent meal here--3 courses--for only $33 a piece. I had the salad--was drenched in dressing and not very edible, but my husband seemed to enjoy his shrimp and grits. For the entrees, we both ordered steak. I ate about 3 ounces of my steak. It just wasn't great, and the butter they put on top made the steak taste worse. The exterior was overly salted, and the inside was undercooked. However, I loved the potatoes. So creamy and warm and delicious! Finally, dessert. My husband's berry cheesecake was beautiful and SO DELICIOUS. I kept stealing bites of his, and I don't normally like cheesecake. It was not overly dense, and they styled it with bits of white chocolate and raspberry sauce. My chocolate cake was also very pretty, but tasted like it had just been thawed out. Chocolate cake is always delicious, but this was no better than a grocery store chocolate cake. I really expected more from this fancy, expensive steakhouse. Overall, it was a great experience for the Magical Dining Month special, but I wouldn't visit again at full price.

I love this place. Food is great! It's quiet and service is very good. Ribeye steak is always good. Best key lime pie I've ever had and the crab soup is super fresh. Usually pretty empty but it's a good thing. James is the man and is always very nice. I used to work valet at the hotel and always ate here anytime I could

Service was great! Despite showing up in gym clothes and just dining alone, I got great, quick service... except for when it came time to get my check. I was abandoned for a bit, but they made it up to me by comping desert. Prices are a little steep, but you can get a 25% off coupon online or right outside the restaurant so it's comparable to other restaurants in the relatively high-priced region of town. As for the food though... the swordfish I got was kind of bland. I've never had swordfish before but it didn't impress me. The vegetables and potatoes that came as sides were good though. (If anybody here reading this has been to or works at Jack's, can you suggest an entree for future visits?) And I can't not note my awe at the charicatures on the well. I thought it would be cheesy, but there are hundreds! And they were signed by some of the biggest names in HISTORY! The host who seated me noticed my interest and handed me a list of the people pictured. Very impressive!

Went here for magical dining month (thankfully). So for $33 we got 3 courses (plus their bread) - I had the shrimp and grits, filet and the cheesecake. My wife had the salad, filet and the chocolate cake of some sort. First off, maybe it was just my seat, but I could hear the people outside the restaurant (it's in the lobby of a hotel) and the hostess talking constantly. This totally detracted from the intimate atmosphere of the restaurant, but that's fine, my wife didn't have the same problem. When we got there we were literally the only people in the restaurant, so the service was excellent. The bread was great, warm, two different kinds and the pesto dipping sauce was nice and chunky. I liked my shrimp and grits, the shrimp were small, but the dish was plentiful. My wife didn't really care for her salad and I agree with her on that. The filets were okay, not nearly as bad as mortons, but just not that great, way worse that a Ruth's Chris steak. We both ordered ours medium-rare, mine was dead on, but her's was fully rare and neither steak had much flavor. They put a nice piece of steak butter on top, but even that didn't give the steak much flavor I ended up grating on salt and pepper to make the steak better. The sides were okay, my wife liked the potatoes a lot more than I did, and the veggies were also under seasoned for my tastes, but the plate did look very pretty. The highlight of the meal for both of us was my cheesecake. My wife's chocolate cake wasn't anything spectacular, but my cheesecake was probably the best dessert I've ever ordered. First, they give you an entire mini-cake so you get some crust with almost every bite. Then the flavor of the cake was great, fluffy without being airy, and the fruit served to give each bite a slightly different flavor based upon which berry you had with the cheesecake. Additionally it was one of the prettiest desserts I've ever eaten. At the end of the day, I would probably give the place 3.5 stars, but then again, I thought our meals were worth about $33, and if it wasn't magical dining month, the meal would have cost over $50 which would not have been worth it, so I'll stick with my 3 star rating. If you do go here YOU HAVE TO GET THE CHEESECAKE.
A really nice find. Imagine a hotel restaurant with well-trained Wait staff. They know the wine list. They know the menu. Not afraid to make recommendations which were excellent. Ask for Amal.

I found Jack's Place while looking for a nice restaurant with quality steaks to take my husband to! I narrowed it down to a few places. I found Jack's Place to be unique with the caricatures! I also read many reviews stating that their food was good and at a reasonable price. I emailed James O'Brien the managaer to make reservations for my husbands birthday. When we got there James greeted us as if he had known us for a while! The service was outstanding. James really took care of us! My husband was served an amazing birthday dessert platter! The food was absolutely delcious and coooked perfectly! No complaints and the price was right. We enjoyed it so much we went back for my father's birthday the very same month. James was very very nice and even asked what desserts my dad liked, he brought out another dessert platter, it was amazing. Everyone enjoyed their food, it was 5 of us! Please try this place! Go on a Friday or Saturday for a caricature, free with your purchase of an entree!

We love this place! The food- especially the steak- is exceptional. The timing of the food by the staff is perfect, never leaving you waiting between courses. Love that they have included "shot desserts" so that we can have a taste of dessert, even after a huge entree. Make sure to get your caricature!
Little hidden gem in Orlando at Rosen Plaza Hotel. Small, unassuming restaurant, but lots of charm and character inside. Some of the character comes from the caricatures hanging throughout the restaurant. Incredible autographed caricatures of people like JFK, Jackie O, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Eleanor Roosevelt, FDR, all of the astronauts, Marlon Brando, Andy Warhol, Picasso, Dali, Alfred Hitchcock, Queen Elizabeth... too many to list. These are worth the trip alone. However, the restaurant's menu is worthy of its own trip. Very nice selection. Not inexpensive, but you can get a coupon on the web site. Love the filet and the fresh vegetables -- large individual veggies steamed and healthy. James, the manager, is very nice, cordial and will remember you if you're a frequent visitor.

Returned to see if it was still as good as last time and, it was even better. This time we arrived early, 5:30, when the restaurant was really quiet and we could even here the music. Kai, our server, let us take our time while we had wonderful martinis before ordering. He was very sociable and spent a little time explaining some of Jack Rosen's wonderful caricatures which adorn the walls. We ordered the 4 course dinner ($44 each and a really good deal) starting with the fantastic crab corn soup and a tasty good sized shrimp cocktail with 3 sauces atop of various greens. We both had the Rivington Salad with baby portabellos, pretty as well as delicious. Our main course was a beautifully presented Sea Bass with fresh tender cooked baby vegetables (asparagus, several kinds of squash, stringbeans & carrots) and a choice of several potato dishes. Dessert was a luscious chocolate gateau and a piece of yummy lime pie. By the time we had received our entrees, the room had filled up so we were glad we had arrived early. Kai was both very professional and efficient as well as personable. Another wonderful meal at a delightful restaurants.

Amazing restaurant. We were stuck in a traffic jam and called the restaurant to advise we would be late. When we arrived, not only the manager greeted us,but our server, Dino, also inquired about our delay and told us to relax and enjoy our food. Folks, our server knew why we were late. C'mon....where do you get acknowledgement like that? It was a complete phenomenal dining experience. And we even got a caricature done free of charge! We had the Ahi tuna and the crab cake for appetizers. Superb! Jacks special king crab chowder and the French onion soup. Also superb. For our main course, the scallops and the sea bass. What a delight! Dessert was berries and cheesecake and a glass of Grand Marnier. Dino brought us chocolates to pair with our little night cap! I can't say enough about this restaurant. The caricatures on the wall alone are worth stopping in. Just fascinating! This is one of the best dining experiences I have had. Great food! Great staff! Enjoyable all around!

Poor execution sums up my experience here. Service: inexperienced, interrupted us multiple times, no tact or grace. Used a plate scraper, but didn't have any skill. Server actually scraped crumbs into my lap, but was too busy rattling off desert, after telling her I was not interested, to notice. Food: Tuna seared and crusted nicely, but center was cold, and fish was flavorless. Entree included vegetables which were awkward to eat - full peppers and squash with stems still on, and a choice of potatoes. Salad not an option. Blue cheese mashed potatoes were a strange combination. Cost: Only a couple entrees under $30. Steaks and lobster entrees up to $50. Not terrible for what the menu promised, but much too expensive for the quality that showed up. No beer or cocktails on the menu, cheap California wine only. Ordered a cocktail from the hotel bar, it was $13 for a basic drink that was the size of a large shot. Tip was included for a party of 3! Hotel guests get a 25% off discount coupon, but it seems that was figured into the prices ahead of time. It applied to food only. Menu: looks good, sounds good, if the kitchen could deliver. Setting: ambiance is good until the loud waitress buts in. We were seated quickly With classier, experienced wait staff, and higher quality food, this would be an OK restaurant. But it has a long way to go, and there are far too many options nearby. Stay clear of this one.

The food was more than disappointing. I stayed at the Rosen Plaza this last week and had hear and read such great reviews on this place and thought I should give it a try. It did not live up to all the hype. There was nothing special. The food did not impress me at all. My steak was over done but James the manager quickly took care of it. When it came out sagi it was COLD. The herb steak butter wasn't even melted, it looked more like frosting as it just sat on my cold steak. After screwing up on my steam twice there was just no sense to complain again because my dinner was ruin. The mash potato with blue cheese was gross. The only thing that was good was the steamed veggies The lobster corn chowder was way too salty as my experience continue to disappoint me. I was going to pass on dessert but having that Creme Brûlée is my favorite dessert I figure I give it a chance since the rest of my dinner was less than impressive. When the creme brûlée arrived it too was disappointing. The sugar on top was burned? The dessert was warm like it just came out of the oven. It wasn't even filled halfway, it felt like I was scraping the bowl every time I took A bite. I was very DISAPPOINTED to say the least.

This place is just amazing! This is the third time we eat here but it's the first time we have are little girl with us. I called to make sure they could accommodate her and they said absolutely. When we got there, the manage informed me that they had our table ready which he explained had a sanitized high chair waiting for us. The food was delicious.. The seated ahi tuna was delicious and The filet with butter sauce was scrumptious and the vegetables were delicious. My husband ordered the stone crab corn bisque and he said it was truly one of the best soups ever. He also ordered the filet which he loved as well. The creme brûlée was yummy and the manager offered us a taste of an after dinner liquor which was super tasty (an infused taste of chocolate in red wine). They made my daughters dinner to my specific specifications and she had a great dinner. The service was great as well. The prices are on point for fine dining. The restaurant also had an artist doing caricatures and we left with an amazing drawing of our family (the restaurant is decorated with caricature drawings from the owners father, hence why the hired artist keeping with the theme of the restaurant's decor). It was truly a fantastic dinner.. From start to finish. It definitely is a must try if you are in the area.
