I'm long overdue to write this review as it was a few months ago... This was a total surprise to me as I didn't have high expectations before going due to the location! However the server was excellent and the food was delicious! I loved their whole fish. Cook perfectly! Very moist and flakey, not dry at all. They lemon Greek potatoes were so tasty and amazing I still crave it. Their meat was tender and juicy. All I have to say is you really get A quality food here.

I came for lunch with a few of my co-workers. There was something here for everyone, and being someone with diet restrictions I could see that I wouldn't have a problem finding something for me. I chose the vegetarian platter with veggies, Hummus, Tzatziki sauce and pita bread. Since I can't eat gluten I asked for the platter without the bread. There was a mix up in the kitchen and they sent out the platter with the bread on it. My server was very obviously distressed and very apologetic, and since I noticed that the bread was on the other side of the containers of Tzatziki and Hummus so I just gave it to my friend. The food was quite tasty, however I literally got one tomato, feta cheese, 1/4c of tzatziki and 1/4c of Hummus for $13. I was mistaken when I ordered thinking that it actually had more vegetables and since I can't eat the pita there was no vehicle for two of the items. It was more of an appetizer size and without anything to substitute the bread, I left hungry. But then, that just shows that they depend on bread to fill up the customer. My server was wonderful, I saw the notes she took regarding my request, but the kitchen ignored a food allergy. That is a huge no-no in my book. I am not being picky, I swear, I just can't eat it or I will be in pain for days. Maybe I will try it again, but who knows. Looking at my plate and everyone else's I just don't know if the value for price is worth it. If I do, I will most definitely update accordingly.

A pretty place, good food, but not my favorite Greek. The saganaki had an odd flavor, as though it were mostly goat cheese based instead of a sheep or a mix. The gyro platter was good, but the meat was barely lukewarm. The tzatziki was excellent. All in all, I'd prefer The Greek Corner if I had my choice.

Bad service. Nothing special. Short on staff. Definitely not authentic Greek food. Nothing different than any standard Greek place in the US.

In my opinion, there are very few places you can have a high quality meal at w/ all the touristy places in Orlando. Greek Flame Taverna is definitely an exception. If you're in the mood for Greek food, you must try this! The ambiance is intimate, quiet, and a great place for a date night. They have indoor/outdoor seating w/ heaters outside if it's a chilly night. The service was friendly and quick w/ prices appropriate for what you were getting. I ordered the special...crab stuffed, bacon wrapped chicken. It was as mouthwatering delicious as it sounds. A little more pricey than other menu items at $28, but worth it. My hubs had the spanakopita and cousin had the pita platter. Both enjoyed their meals and we all enjoyed the saganaki appetizer to start. We will definitely return here when we're feeling Greek! :)

Feeling a little Greek? Greek Flame is the perfect place to satisfy that craving. We are always impressed with the excellent service and hospitality of this great hidden gem of a restaurant. White table cloths infused with ambient Greek music, and a menu that offers a selection from appetizers to desserts and everything in between. Our very favorite starter is Saganaki Flaming Cheese....OPA! It is just not complete without this to start our Greek journey of food. Just delicious. I love Dolmades [stuffed grape leaves], and even though my hubby is not a fan, he will eat those at Greek Flame because they are just so tasty. We usually enjoy the Greek Flame platter for two, as it includes most of the favorite items we love; Gyros, Dolmades, a big Greek salad, spinach pies and more. Each item prepared fresh and the portions are so generous, there is always something enough left to take home for a late night snack. They offer a nice selection of Greek wines and beer, and I believe there is full bar service, too, though we have not tried cocktails, just beer and wine, which is perfectly matched with our meal. If you are looking for an absolutely wonderful dining experience, you must try Greek Flame Taverna. You won't be disappointed! Actually, you will likely be planning when your next visit will be, just like we do. It is family friendly, yet, at the same time, it is also perfect for a romantic dinner, and a business lunch, too. We choose to go with 'business casual' attire when we dine, but we see plenty of casual diners, as well. Love it, love it, love it!!!! Can't wait to hear 'OPA!' again, soon.

Awesome gyros! The platter comes with fries and a salad. Great flavor and large portions. The Greek salad dressing is on point.

Lunch was very relaxing on the outside patio. Staff was very attentive and the food was fabulous. So very fresh and I would come again.

Good food. Nice service. We went there on a weekday evening, so it. Wasn't very busy. We had the saganaki, grilled octopus, village salad, and the meat platter for two. There was a good amount of meat for two or more people easily. We had no room for dessert. All in all enjoyed it with the family.

I stopped in last week while on a trip to Orlando for business. I love Greek food and this place hit the spot. I had the lemon chicken orzo soup, a lot of pita and dolmades. It was the perfect dinner that was both flavorful and filling. Nice atmosphere and friendly service too!

Ok, so I usually write good reviews. I'm not a negative person. However, I am an honest person on these reviews. Wow, what a let down. I saw the high rated reviews and was excited as I love Greek food. We got here and had to wait for a table to be set. The party of 4 behind us was waiting, too. So after 4 or 5 minutes, we were seated right next to the group after us. Their waitress came, took their orders, brought their appetizers, and finally our waitress came. We ordered drinks- I had water- my dinner mates had 3 beers. We asked to order appetizers and she said she'd get it when she brought out drinks. In 8 minutes she brought our water and 2 of the beers and took our app order. We asked for grilled octopus, spinach pie, Greek sausage, fried cheese, a side salad and gyro platter. We asked for the beer again -and a refill on water. And maybe some silverware. She brought the cheese and pita and forgot the beer and silverware. So...(wth with our restaurant luck today!) She brought everything else except the side salad or Greek sausage and said,"we are out of sausage what would you like?" We said some kind of meat app." She said "there are none, how about a tomato with feta?" I said, "no we want meat. How about a menu?" Huge sigh! Oh- and silverware! She got us the silverware. We saw kabob on the menu and asked could we substitute a kabob for the sausage as we didn't want veggies and orzo. "No," she said. We asked her to ask if we could substitute. She replied if she asked they'd send her home. Ok.... So we ordered the meal and got no salad still. Now, we tried all the food and then when we were almost done she said she was going to put in the order for the kabobs. In 15 minutes she brought 1 kabob with 3 pieces of meat, 1 tomato chunk, 1 onion slice, 1 zucchini slice and 1 mushroom cap. We also got 1/2 cup of orzo. That was it for $20. Ok now the food- Spinach pies- they were dry but the guys said they were ok. The flaming cheese was very good. It was the best thing we tried. The grilled octopus was average- The gyro was so dry it was Inedible. The tatziki sauce was pure yogurt no dill no lemon no flavor. The fries were soggy. Soooooo disappointing. The lamb was ordered medium and came very well done. It was too dry. The orzo has no taste at all. No salt. Just mushy rice pasta. No water refill. Below par food. $100 check. Really?! Sigh.... I hope tomorrow is a better food day.

We were in the mood for Greek food but didn't want to go to anything touristy on International Drive. Saw the great reviews for this restaurant and thought we'd try it only to get there and find it was closed! Windows had brown paper on them and all the signs were down! It was still listed on the map of the shopping center so it must've just closed recently. I tried calling the number and it said it had been disconnected. Very disappointed! Hopefully another Greek restaurant opens in the Orlando area soon.

Rude and disgusting management. They overcharge people and when are called on it this was their literally yelling response...."The Greek Flame would not make any money if we gave free food to everyone? Seriously? I tried to ignore the 4 small chunks of chicken they gave us for as Chicken Souvlaki for $18 with about 15 small fries as the side. Leg of lamb is also supposed to be sliced no? Not chunks of lamb swimming in a pool of juice. We were charged $24 instead of $12 for 4 small ramekins of hummus spreads by an obvious wait staff mistake but the manager came over screaming at us! $24 for Hummus??? I lived in Queens, NY for years and this place is a joke. Not close to authentic Greek food. How does a manger come out when you have a legit problem with the bill come out yelling loudly at us that we are trying to rip them off? Then decide to not change the bill and charge us for it anyway? I will tell everyone I know to avoid this place at all costs . I'm sorry Greek Flame that you had to make us so uncomfortable that you made me write this review and never visit your restaurant again. Which I had been to many times. The overly rude manager/owner just put it over the top.

I am picky about Greek food. If the gyro tastes like fair food, I am done. But this spot--whoa. First off, get the tomato and feta appetizer. Our waitress recommended it and even told us exactly where the feta was sourced from. Impressive. It was flavorful and surprisingly filling, the perfect starter. I got the gyro platter, which came with freshly made pita and maybe the best French fries I have ever had. The meat was seasoned perfectly. I was in heaven. My guest got the moussaka. It was good, but needed a little salt. After that addition, it was perfection. In short, great service, great food, great atmosphere. A great date spot!

Just had lunch there. Grape leaves were the best we had!!! They were stuffed with beef as well and added amazing flavor. The lamb gyro was made with real leg of lamb and delicious! Try it!!!

terrible service, I was hopping to have a great time with my date but I did NOT. Do I really really need to wait 45 minutes for a glass of water ?? I drop 150$ with wine and appetizer, and I will not go there no more. I believe that in the today market have "ok" food is a mast but what set you a part is a great service and this place should start from square one as customer service!!!

Good food in a friendly atmosphere. Kid friendly with a special kids menu. Family run as best as I can tell. Just confirm the price of the specials menu as they are more expensive than the regular entrees.

This place is pretty nice but pricey. We ordered the flaming cheese - the experience is worth it but we found the cheese to be a bit too salty and not that great. We also got the stuffed squid/calamari appetizer. It was different - good but I wouldn't want it again. It was $24! Their lamb kabob was decent. I've had better at an Indian restaurant. The lamb loin was very tasty. The rice you get at dinner is not impressive nor the pita bread. Nice place and nice service but not for me.

I meant to come here first but I went to Flame Kabob in the same plaza by mistake, and it was a mistake. Greek Flame Taverna is a quaint spot. We went around 4pm and we were the only people there. There is outdoor seating, nice when weather permits. We had the calamari, gyro platter, and baklava. Fried Calamari: ok, just ok Gyro Platter: Excellent! The platter consisted of salad, fries, gyro meat, pita and a side of tzatziki. The platter was very good and I loved the tzatziki and the hand cut fries. Overall: Great place, a little pricey but one of the best gyros in the area. Oh, and your breath will reek but who cares! I will return.

The food was below average. We ordered Moussaka and Greek lasagna and both of them were cold. It seems that chef microwave did the work. I have been to so many restaurants and heating food with microwave is unexpected. Wouldn't recommend this place and we will never go back.

Had the Greek Flame Platter and completely recommend this. It was a tremendous amount of delicious food. The entire dinner party left stuffed and happy we decided to try this place. The service was prompt and attentive as well. I will be going back.

Food was terrific and the server was friendly and attentive. We had to bring food home since the portions were generous. We were told about this place by other guests at our hotel and we were glad we checked it out. If we were staying in Orlando longer, we would go back.

I work around the corner from here and have been eating here for a few years. It is SOLID greek food! You get tons of food, in a very clean and nice setting, for not that much $$. Personally, I'm in love with the traditional gyro with side salad (their greek salads are the best I've ever had, by the way). Service is always good no matter how many of us show up (from 2 to 20). Very good.

Dined here around 9 p.m. on a Sunday night and it was dead empty. I'm also sad to report, it stayed empty throughout the entire night we were there! Such a bummer since the food here is exceptional. We wanted a light dinner and our server didn't push us to order anything too expensive or in abundance. Items order: Large greek salad: crispy romaine and iceberg, not too salty feta, delicious olives, fresh cucumbers and juicy sweet tomatoes. The homemade dressing is to die for! Seems to be olive oil, pink himalayan salt and other foreign substances (in a good way!) inside. Not too salty, dressed the salad perfectly. Lamb of shank: Lots of meat!! Shank is usually the toughest cut of the lamb, so when you eat a tender piece of shank you know you've found yourself a place with serious knowledge. This shank was super tender and flavorful. My boyfriend practically scrapped off all the meat he could get his hands on, and he started to suck on the bone marrow! (That's how delicious he said it was..) The waiter was kind enough to bring out a stick to poke out the inside of the bone, but he had already literally ''suck the life'' out of the thing. Side items: Greek style rice (served with lamb) was delicious as well! Buttery and infused with hints of herbs. Nice bite to it as well. The pita was soft supple and amazing dipped in the homemade dressing. Service: Excellent!!! Leave the restaurant I feel kind of bad I only left 20%. (Should have done more..) Our waiter seemed a little unpleasant in the beginning (kind of like ''why did you asian people come so late?) but as he took our order he brighten up and left a great impression. COME HERE!! bill came out to be 26.50+ tip for a quick late night dinner, but the food will not disappoint!

An oasis in the land of chain restaurants! After the hotel concierge told us "there are lots of great restaurants nearby - Friday's, Chili's, Carrabas, Olive Garden, Red Lobster" and some place with the words "roadhouse" and "barbecue" in it, I knew I had to take matters into my own hands. Fortunately, I had good karma (unfortunately, I can't use that karma to get me a good raise at Microsoft without asking) - and I found this place. Don't let the fact that this restaurant is in a strip mall and at the outdoor seating is on the sidewalk dissuade you. This place really is fabulous. The inside is lovely and the outside seating is surprisingly nice. The menu is huge,so you won't have any trouble finding something good to eat. I had a small Greek salad, the grilled octopus (amazing!), and a dish of baked tiger prawns and calamari that was more like a light stew. The presentation was beautiful, the service was attentive without being too much, and the price was very reasonable. Tip: make reservations. This place is very popular. For good reason.

We've visited this place twice and both times came out extremely happy. I had the lamb kabobs, that don't seem like a lot when you get them, but I promise you'll be full. The restaurant is clean and nice, and the staff is always friendly.

Awesome! We only got the Gyro's, but they were incredible. There will certainly be a return visit in the near future, there are just so many great restaurants to choose from around here.

Just OK Pricey, but the food is really good. Not a lot of Greek places around town, so we will continue to come here when we want our fix.

What can I say about this quaint little restaurant except for stereotypical. The statues, the music and the decor made it very evident that you were in just another Greek restaurant, although with a little more modern look to it. The menu had all the traditional foods you would normally find in a Greek restaurant, although the menu I had was dirty, bent and torn, which was a little disappointing. I ordered the Saganaki, which is a cooked cheese which is then flambéed at the table. It was absolutely delicious! I then ordered a Gyro platter as my entrée. I asked the server if it could be a wrapped inside the pita rather then it be open faced on the platter, but he said no. His reason being that wrapping it into a pita would lower the class of the restaurant. So rather than accommodating a guest request in a restaurant that only had one other guest in it at the time was more important than accommodating my simple request. In the end all I wanted was a pita sandwich. I'm not really sure what's so difficult about that. Being in the hospitality industry means accommodating your guests requests when ever possible. A lesson I hope they learn soon. Other than that incident everything else was stupendous. The food was really wonderful!

Greek Flame has never let us down. Been going here since the very beginning when they moved to Dr Phillips and ever since, the owners have always been sure to put their special touch on our evenings. This last visit, we hosted our small holiday party for 10 people and we could not have been more pleased. I had the Grouper, Shrimp and Scallops in the white ouzo sauce and every bite was better than the last. The table shared several grilled octopus, Greek pies, saganaki and feta and olives and each were equally impressive and delectable. Several bottles of Greek reds and whites accompanied everything to this point to round out the culinary perfection. Of course we had to have some of each of the desserts, but I unfortunately was so full, I only got a few bites of the chocolate baklava cheese cake and then the regular baklava cheese cake, but sure glad I at least had room for those few bites b because they were simply delicious. The whole culinary experience was finished with their amazing Greek Coffee that seemed to bring everything together. Service, as usual was spot on and definitely a plus that we closed the evening with a table side visit from the husband and wife (owner/chef) duo where we all closed the restaurant together amongst fantastic company. The only fine dining in Dr Phillips where we truly feel like we are at someone's home getting an authentic home cooked, fine dining meal.

Not good. My wife had chicken and it was dry. My son had gyro and it was dry. I had stuffed calamari and stuffing was good but chef failed to remove cartilage. Chicken should have had a lemon sauce to keep moist and rice was uncle bens at best. The hummas in mu opinion was sub par. I honestly would go somewhere else and had high expectations for the place and was disappointed and the service was very slow as well considering how empty the restaurant was.

The food was great! We were pleasantly surprised after finding this on TripAdvisor & drove out from downtown Orlando. We all polished off our plates & even the homemade desserts were amazing! Authentic delicious Greek food. Can be pricey for the "sandwich shop" crowd, but it seems like ALL the restaurants in this area are expensive (Universal Studios area).

Opa! So last weekend we had the misfortune of mistakenly going to Flame Kabob in the same shopping center. This weekend we finally got it RIGHT!! Greek Flame Taverna was one of the best meal experiences we have had in a long time! The restaurant is family owned and that is very obvious when you eat here. The service is top notch and the food was amazing. We had our adult son with us and a friend visiting from out of town. The four of us shared appetizers of the Saganaki, Dolmades, and one of the specials which was a big dish of mussels in a tomato sauce. All were wonderful! We shared two bottles of a very good Greek Pinot Noir throughout the meal and we decided to do the Piatela Me Kreata which is apparently Greek for "big huge plate of delicious meat that the four of you will never finish". The specials that our server Popi (daughter of the owners and dessert chef extraordinaire) listed all sounded terrific but you can't go wrong with Gyro, Chicken Souvlaki, Lamb Souvlaki, Leg of Lamb, Lamb Loin, homemade tzatziki and pita all served with rice and Greek salad, right??! We were blown away! The meats were all tender and juicy and the tzatziki was spot on! Great choice but be prepared to take home the leftovers to enjoy the next day. We finished off with shots of Ouzo and got some desserts to take home as we were all too stuffed to eat them there. I highly recommend you DO NOT skip the desserts. Popi is a genius! Overall, this is a great local place that I would highly recommend to anyone who loves authentic Greek food with a comfortable welcoming atmosphere. This will definitely go on our list of best places to eat!

This restaurant does a great job of showcasing Greek food! We had a few starters and then shared the meat platter. There was enough for 4 of us! Excellent service, friendly waiter. Worth going back to!

Amazing and authentic. Best Greek food in Orlando. My wife and I split the Greek Meat platter for two. My wife is from Athens and cooks me homemade Greek food all the time. She gave the Greek flame two enthusiastic thumbs up. Quote my wife, "best Greek food I've had in the state." It was fantastic.

Went tonight for dinner and found the staff accommodating; polite, and although the place was quite empty and there was absolutely no music or atmosphere found the food very tasty, authentic, well portioned; well priced too. Did not have wine but had beer. Started with appetizers, the Greek flamed cheese, the spreads with pita bread, the grilled octopus. Then ordered the chicken souvlaki, the chicken was juicy, well cooked, well seasoned. You can tell there is care behind the kitchen, I would definitely go back and definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone who wants to enjoy authentic Greek food.

Went for lunch today. I had a gyro and a salad. The gyro was delicious, maybe one of the best I have had since it doesn't seem like the normal generic gyro meat that you find in other places. The food is a little garlicky - not as much as I have had in previous visits but you do have a distinctive garlic taste in your mouth after you leave. The big problem is service. The servers are friendly however - I don't know if they were overwhelmed - but it didn't seem that busy and our lunch took a really long time. It took awhile to order, the food took a long time to arrive and then it took forever to pay the bill. For awhile, I thought our server forgot about us. I also heard other tables around us grumbling about how long it was taking. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt - maybe they were busier than normal, maybe they were short-staffed. The food is very good. It would just be better if we could get out of there in a reasonable amount of time for lunch.

Always good. I would give five, but they were having a waitstaff meeting which was quite distracting to both us and to the waiter.

HUGE MISTAKE TO TRY THIS PLACE. I live very close and decided to bring some out of town friends tonight as we love Greek food. It took 2 hours to have very basic food, unappetizing food. The grilled Greek chicken breast was tasteless and served plain on a white plate. It looked so unappetizing but after 2 hours I was starving and forced to eat it. Don't order the grilled Greek chicken breast you Wil be disappointed. My george foreman makes better chicken. Everything about our order was wrong and even after complaining the owner nor manager ever came out to apologize. Clearly there was no manager. After about an hour and 15 min and asking for an update on our food, the salads finely arrived. The service was so bad but it was more the owners fault as on a busy Thursday there were only 2 servers, no hostess, no bus boy. Horrible. And the restaurant is so overpriced. If you want great Greek food go to Taverna Opa. With dealing with tourists to have fantastic food at Taverna Opa. Don't try the Greek Flame.

If you like garlic, this is the place for you. Everything I have here is all about GARLIC. I can't even figure out where all that garlic aftertaste is coming from! Fortunately I like garlic. But be warned. The vegetarian plate at lunch is my favorite, but lurking in that feta... or the hummus... or wherever... is a loads of garlic You've been warned.

Came here by mistake, but so happy we did. We originally were going to a sandwich place in the shopping area but it was closed, so we decided to try this place. We started off with a bunch of appetizers and I got a Chicken Gyro w/a greek salad as a side. Fried Calamari: Cooked absolutely perfectly, and the best calamari i've ever had. A MUST try Grilled Octppus: Tender and also done perfectly. Just the right amount of seasoning Dolmates. I believe there are 4 and comes with tzatziki. Very very good Hummus: It was ok, better when you add olive oil in my opinion Grilled Calamri: a bit too much seasoning, hence a little salty Chicken Gyro: Very good and the dressing with the greek salad was the best i've had. Overall, a wonderful lunch and amazing greek food. I'd highly recommend this place and wish it was in NY so i could eat here more frequently.

The restaurant has a nice feel to it. There are a few tables out front and a nice size dining room inside. We sat inside at a table pushed up to a large front window. We got the feel of being outside with the benefit of AC. We ordered the Saganaki, flaming cheese. I did not like it. They usekefalograviera cheese. I prefer kasseri cheese. I think the kasseri melts smoother and does not get a hard cottage cheese like texture as it cools. Actually, that right there tells you that I didn't love it - that it had a chance to cool. We also shared the Pikilia, a platter of Greek pies. They were all very good. My husband order the Gyro Salad. It was OK. Not great, not bad, just OK. I had one of the specials, lamb medallions slow roasted in a rich flavorful broth with greek herbs and garlic served over orzo. It was delicious. Nice touch - when the waiter went over the specials - which all sounded great - I expressed an interest in the lamb special. Our table was not ready to order so when the waiter delivered the apps he told me there were only three orders of the lamb special left and would I like him to hold one for me. I'm glad I said yes. When we were almost done eating I noticed a women at the table just outside of our window pointing to my dish an telling the waiter she wanted that. Unfortunately for her it was too late! We shared a warm brownie in a ramekins w vanilla ice cream on top. Can't go wrong w that combo! We were there with another couple who go often and they had a very nice rapport w the waiter who they said they have had each time they've gone. I would definitely go back and order the same lamb special or try one of the other wonderful sounding seafood specials.

I was directed here by a buddy of mine on how this place is hands down the best Greek food in the Orlando area. I'm not 100% on it being the greatest but it was delicious. I am unable to give this place a fair assessment as I only happened here with a friend of mine while the family was away on one of the worst days possible, Valentines. It has great atmosphere and a decent little outdoor dining area with heaters for those who comically are unable to handle 60 degrees. The staff is nice and attentive and the atmosphere is solid but most importantly the food was great. I had the fried calamari, some pita bread and zatziki sauce, and the lamb dinner for two. All was great, if your in town on vacation or permanently stop by and you won't be disappointed.

Love this place! Hands down best Greek you'll find in town. Family run operation and it shows in the authenticity of the food. They always have specials that are not listed on the menu... And from personal experience they will blow you away. Always fresh cuts of meat and fish. Rainy "winter" days in Orlando I always go in for a bowl of the avgolemono soup. It's a wonderful chicken broth with tons of chicken and orzo. Hits the spot everytime! I love the pasticchio and veggie moussaka. I don't think there there is anything you can go wrong with. Order the flaming cheese as an app and enjoy the tableside show! Dessert is a must and I swear by the napoleons. One of the few restaurants in town that offers them and makes them authentic!! Some people have said in reviews that service is slow. When you go in you can see they have a small staff, but personally I would rather come here and have authentic food with no processing and enjoy my dinner. No one will ever kick you out or make you feel rushed. Worth every penny!

Surprisingly good!!!! Other than the greek dishes, which are absolutely delicious, we had the fish of the day!! chilean sea bass. Excellent, fresh, cook to perfection. The service was very very good. Waitress was very nice and professional. If you like greek and Mediterranean food this is the place to go!!!

Amazing food!!! Everything from the salad to the wine was fabulous. This is not your fast food gyro joint. I had the gyro platter. So moist & tender with amazing spices. Hubby had a traditional Greek dish (can't remember the name) that was also unreal. This is our new fave restaurant in Orlando.

Picked this restaurant from your reviews while on vacation last week. We love Greek food. We had a bad experience there. We ordered appetizers, and entrees. The appetizers came out at different times. I ordered the flaming cheese. The presentation was good, done at the table. The cheese, however, was cold and rubbery. The other appetizers didn't come out and I felt bad for my family, so I divided it up and shared it with them. When the grilled octopus came out, it was served as a whole tentacle which I found unnerving. My son said it was good. Next came the salads. The menu said the dishes we ordered came with side salads. They were quite small. When the main dishes came out we were disappointed to see them...this after waiting so long because the service was so slow. The chicken kabobs were dry and tough. The gyro platter was a pile of dried sliced gyro meat covered with raw onions. I asked where the pita bread was and was told if I wanted pita with it there would be an extra charge. I sent it back and didn't order anything else. At that point a woman came out of the kitchen and said her name was Maria and she owned the place. She asked why I sent my food back and when I told her she proceeded to berate me, saying it was the server's fault and not the restaurants. She told me about all the good reviews she got. I told her I knew and that's why we came. I never post bad reviews. However, when I got back to my hotel I tried to write one on the site from which I made the reservation. She had deleted my reservation so that I could not post on that site. I guess she knows how to work the system to eliminate bad reviews.

We stepped in here for lunch. The place is small, narrow yet long. We waited at the hostess booth for about 8 minutes, no one showed up. In fact it appears that at 12:30 pm on a Friday they have no hostess. the hostess desk has a wall behind it that blocks almost all of the restaurant from your view, or more importantly blocks any of the wait staff from noticing that anyone had walked in. I had to step to the far right in which a server saw me, yet never said a thing, the second server came up greeted us and sat us. The tables are cramped in there. I was sat behind another woman and we were back to back. I'm not sure what was going on here, were they short staffed? Or is this just how it always is? The server who sat us was our server, only slightly attentive, but nice and pleasant. She didn't come check on except once to fill drinks. For appetizers we got Beef Dolmades - it comes with a side of tzatziki. The flavor of these were excellent the problem with them was that our server didn't give us plates and the grape leaves were loosely wrapped. The feeling of trying to eat these without a plate was the same feeling a cave woman must have endured. We all failed at getting the whole thing in our mouth without dropping bits on the table. The plates would have kept us less messy and more lady like. I had actually chose the dolmades over the Spanakopita because for 7 dollars the appetizer was only 1 spanakopita, and for 7 dollars you get 4 dolmades. Is the idea of sharing an app lost on this restaurant? I don't want to each a huge phylo dough pastry before my meal. 2 or three small ones to share would suffice. We also chose Hummus with pita bread for 6 dollars. When comparing the portion size to that of other restaurants in the area such a Cedars which is huge, and Anatolia's which is decent portion size as well. Greek Flames portion is more of a single portion and they are skimpy on the pita bread as well. Also unlike other places they don't offer you more pita. Also the hummus flavor was a very subtle chick pea flavor it didn't impress me too much. I ordered the traditional gyro. It arrived after we had finished the appetizers, but it was a different person who brought them not our server. Am I the only one that hates this practice? It's awkward, and this second person never asks if you need anything else or a refill on your drink, which I did need. He also had to clear our table. A little while later our original server came over and refilled our drinks. The traditional gyro was described as sliced gyro meat, tzatziki sauce, onions, tomatoes and feta wrapped in pita bread. Served with hand cut fries. I should know better when a menu item is just described as meat and not actually what kind of meat. The meat in the gyro was lamb beef mixture. You find the same kind of meat at other gyro shops for a lot less. You can also buy this ready to go and frozen from your local food purveyor. The problem seemed that I was getting a sense that some of the food items are not made in house but are bought. For the prices I would expect a little higher quality. The other problem was that only other item besides the dolmades that seemed hand made were the hand cut fries. At home I have a nice fryer and have mastered the art of the french fry. It sounds easy but without the proper education on how to do so you could end up getting oily wimpy weeping mushy fries. Which is exactly what I got on my plate here. It's a shame because they were well seasoned. The gyro itself was okay, not the best I've ever had, not the worst either. I appreciate how much gyro meat they are packing on there but it's too much for the size of the pita, which looks like it's been cut in half. Also I didn't notice much if any tomato, just onion and I didn't ever taste feta on it. Since the load of meat was starting top topple and the pita seemed like it was going to give out any minute from the weight of the meat, which would then send all of the ingredients flying toward my face, no doubt eventually ending up down my shirt. I decided not to take the chance and try to eat it fork and knife style. Not ideal but it was okay. We asked for boxes and the server came back with a little Styrofoam container the size of a small hamburger. My gyro almost didn't fit, I had to squeeze it in, getting sauce all over my fingers. I'm probably being a little tough on this place but when faced with the options in the area for Mediterranean food, I'll go with Cedars or Anatolia.

Came here for a friend's birthday party. We were a pretty large group and took over a good portion of the restaurant but the staff had no trouble accommodating us. I ordered the "Fakes"/Lentil Soup which was excellent. My entree was not so good however. The orzo with grilled veggies was completing bland and terribly oily. Many of my dinner companions' entrees were seafood and came in very tiny portions. Needless to say, the place is pretty overpriced for the amount of food that is served. We ended up going to another restaurant after dinner for more food since quite a few of us were still hungry.

Party of 11 with no reservations, seated us in a few minutes and had the dinner of our lives. Everything was delicious, cleaned every plate we had. Service was exceptional and catered to our every need, the atmosphere was great after a day in Universal.

Family owned. Best Greek in Orlando. The owner continues to maintain the highest level of quality across the menu, we've been told she would rather remove an item from the menu if she can't get the ingredients she wants, than serve a sub-standard dish. They have all the classics on the menu and they are as good as you've ever had.

Horribly overpriced for what you are served. I made the mistake of ordering the lamb kabob. Which is $20, it was 4 measly chunks of lamb and 4 small slices of vegetables. It was insulting for what you were given for the cost, HUGE RIP OFF!!! I literally asked the waitress where the rest of it was and she pretty much dismissed me by saying that's how they make it. Not to mention she was so preoccupied with a table next to us (i think it was the owner) that the service was horrible. Never checked in on us or even bothered to even really provide any service. She was just was so worried about the next table over. I found this the worst dining experience I have had in a long time. I would advise others to spend their money elsewhere.

The food was excellent at dinnertime. We sampled some appetizers (four Greek dips, fried pita points, and olive/feta stuffed tomatoes), an amazingly fresh (and huge) Greek salad, one of the specials (a meat platter featuring several cuts of lamb, as well as chicken and gyro meat), beef and vegetable moussaka, the calamari salad, and three desserts. Service was also great. Very friendly and attentive at all times. Two of the owners came to our table to check on us during our meal. Tina was very nice. She explained that she, her mother, sister, and brother-in-law run the place. Her mother makes almost everything from scratch, and you can really tell. The ingredients were so fresh and of such high quality, and everything was delicious.

I went to Restaurant Row today for lunch, because I wanted to dine outside on a beautiful day at Press 101, but they were filled to capacity. So I opted for a first visit to Greek Flame Taverna instead. There was a little bit of apprehension because of not-so-good reviews from a couple of my most trusted Yelp friends; but my experience was very pleasant. There's a good, fairly pricey wine list of exclusively Greek wines. I chose a red something, dry, bold and pleasing. My appetizer (meze) was tzatziki dip with big cucumber slices and pita bread to accompany; and it was good enough for me to consider a return visit. I vow to start making tzatziki dip at home. Edith, my server, was friendly and attentive, and helpful with the wine selection. For a main course, I had a lunch portion of Veggie Moussaka with pita on the side, which was tasty and ample. I'd do it again.

Don't let the setting in a strip mall fool you -- This is a rockin' little restaurant! We went for a corporate dinner event and it was really quite special. The wait staff was 100% on it, the beer selection was broad, and food tasty. Nice job.

Decided to go out and eat at the last minute and found plenty of room at the Greek Flame Taverna, while the other restaurants in the same plaza were jam packed. It took a while for our orders to be taken, but at least everything was correct. For the appetizer, we ordered Fried Zucchini(I can never pass up if on menu) and grilled Calamari. Both were excellent, but I especially loved the Calamari. It had a strong taste of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, which turned off my wife from the dish. Good thing, more for me. For the main dish, I ordered the Shrimp and Scallop souvlaki, which consisted of two huge shrimp and two huge scallops with some vegetables. The wife ordered the Moussaka. We both enjoyed our dish as they were very tasty and done right. If I loved all the food why the 4 star rating? The service was spotty at best and our waitress seemed like she had a lot of stuff going on and was distracted. So n restaurant row you now have 4 choices for Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food, which can't be a bad thing.

Went here 8/8/13. The food was pretty good and service was OK. We were the only table in the restaurant until just before we paid the bill. Probably with good reason. Thursday evening and no business? No Happy Hour? They suggested the house wine which was priced the same as several of their name wines. I would expect the house wine to be at least a dollar less. Ordered the meat platter for two...$60. Seemed to be plenty of food and quite tasty, however it came with a "large", Greek salad. It was neither large large, not traditional Greek. It had 4 olives, some lettuce, white onions, some dressing on the side which did not allow it to marinade, only one pepperonchini, feta chunks instead of crumbles and certainly would not have served more than one person in most restaurants. I went to the Ale House the other day and had their "house" salad and it was easily 50% larger for one person. And had many more ingredients. I am a chef and know what should be in a Greek salad. I don't know how this place is staying in business. Someone must have money to lose. Yes, the food is pretty good, but when in restaurant row the competition is tough and you have to offer good food, good service and some incentive to come back. We asked for some pita bread with the salad and the server said it would come on our platter. For $60 I should have thought she could have brought us a little extra pita bread. It was my girlfriend's birthday and we ultimately did not order any wine because they had NO specials during what is normally happy hour and virtually every other restaurant in the area. I highly doubt we will ever return. My girlfriend has her nails done at the salon next door and noticed at the lunch the next day that they only had two tables of customers at the peak of lunch hour. Must be some sort of tax write off for someone. If you go prepare for a pricey lunch or dinner, and don't ask for any extras.

For background, my family would go get gyros from the old restaurant location (same family owners) over on 436 when I was little. Now, this is around the corner from work and a great lunch price. I guess other posters complaining on dinner pricing might be right, but they have a cheap lunch menu. I always get the chicken gyro or a greek salad with chicken on it and love it. The tzatziki is the best I've ever had and I've been to Greece. Service can sometimes be slow, but they have a small staff; and the food is usually well worth the wait.

Ate dinner at Greek Flame Taverna earlier and left in such a wonderful mood. Louie and I met my dad there, so we weren't really sure what we were coming in to. Every dish was delicious and the service was warm and welcoming. We started with the Pikilia and a Greek salad to share. The Spanakopita was delicious and I could eat the feta on the salad every day of my life. The Pikilia was also served with a side of the most delicious Tzatziki sauce I've had in Orlando. My dad and I both ended up with the lamb loin and Louie got the Gyro platter. I first ordered the lamb shank, which had sold out at lunch. This was probably the only negative part of our experience, which was completely made up for by how delicious the lamb loin was. The gyro platter was reported delicious and the Greek fries were not crispy, but still tasty. Our server was a sweetheart and took great care of us all evening. She even recommended a red wine that I really enjoyed, and that doesn't happen to this white-wine-girl very often! Overall, I had a delicious dinner and will definitely be back.

After several trips to Anatolia, my wife and I decided that we needed to try a new restaurant. Greek Flame has been in open in its Dr. Phillips location for several months so we determined that we should give it a try. The interior is understated and tasteful with Greek accents throughout. It is a very comfortable and quiet room for lunch. When we arrived on a Tuesday, about 1/3 of its 20 or 20 tables were occupied and the outdoor dining area was somewhat crowded. Our server (Maria) was delightful. She was attentive and personable without being pushy or overly invasive. We really liked her. She was quick to refill glasses and she did so in a way that made us almost unaware of her presence. My wife ordered a Greek Salad with chicken. I ordered the traditional Greek Salad. The vegetables were fresh in both salads but because the salads are not tossed with dressing in advance of service, the flavors were not melded. I appreciate the opportunity to get my dressing on the side but I think a Greek salad needs to marinate a bit. My wife really enjoyed the chicken that she added to her salad but lamented that there was not enough chicken. I do not believe that my wife has ever lamented that there was not enough food on her plate or that she has ever finished a meal so this criticism is worth noting. I suppose more chicken could have been ordered but Greek Flame may want to consider increasing its portion size. (A welcome trip to Pinkberry after lunch solved the need for more food.) On the whole, my wife and I both enjoyed our experience at Greek Flame and we will return to try more menu options. While the menu does not appear to us quite as much as the menu at Anatolia, Greek Flame provides a nice alternative when we are in the mood for a change.

Easily the best Greek food in Orlando. The warm decor and family owned environment is just the icing on the cake - as this restaurant serves up some mean entrees. Their lamb is imported from New Zealand, Feta and Olive Oils from Greece... and that attention to detail and overall quality really shows. The head chef/ owner is about as passionate about her food than anybody you'll ever meet, and she really cares about everybody's specific wants and needs on the dining room floor (hard to find anymore).

I had lunch here this past Sunday. I love Greek food so, I was pretty excited to try it out. I had a Greek salad with chicken and was a little disappointed. The chicken was dry and the salad consisted of 3 olives, some iceberg lettuce and a few pieces of cucumber and tomato. The restaurant is casual and not too large. The service was so-so. Overall, it wasn't bad but, I probably would not go back.

Good food and friendly service. I do prefer Anatolia which is only 300 ft. South, but it is a nice change of pace. It seems that Sand Lake Rd. and Dr. Phillips Blvd. is some sort of Mediterranean magnet! Anatolia, Cedar's and now the Taverna Flame! It's worth checking this place out if you have a hard time getting a table at Anatolia or are tired of the Cedar's service.

Thank you for moving to the west side of town. The new location in DR Phillips is very nice. Food is some of the best in town. I usualy have to travel to Tarpon Springs for my greek fix. I guess I will be saving some gas and heading here. Selections are great. I had the lamb of course. Kind of cozzy but come fall the outside seating will be great.

Very disappointing experience. Service was absolutely horrid, waiter barely acknowledged table. Refills were hard to come by. They brought food out at different times and one person in our party had to wait for her food until all of us were done. Food was bland. Overall a bad experience and will never come here Again. Taverna opa in pointe Orlando is ten times better.

Update (Feb 2013): I reviewed Greek Flame Taverna a little less than a year ago, and really like it. I am sorry to report that based on my recent visit, I think it has lost some of its edge. The food just didn't seem as good (not spiced right or as fresh) and one of our meat dishes was not even warm. Service is still very good. Perhaps it was just an off night, but I have to go with my current rating. ---------- Had lunch at Greek Flame Taverna and everything was good to really good. I had a Lamb Souvlaki sandwich. They switched the fries for a Greek salad without any question or up-charge. This turned out to be a good choice because the feta cheese was better than any I ever had. The owner explained that they get it shipped over from Greece. The souvlaki was good but not exceptionally so. Same for the Spanakopita (spinach pastry) but it came with a tzatziki sauce that was equally as good as the feta. They proudly tell you about their homemade desserts which were fresh and delicious. Prices were a little on the high side. Service was eager and prompt. Everyone is friendly but not overbearing. The decor was clean, modern and very professional looking. There was some outside seating as well. I will definitely make it a point to come back for dinner. Judging from our lunch, GFT might be one of the better Greek restaurants in the area.

We visited for dinner one weekday evening recently. Not crowded- there were probably three other tables. We had the flaming cheese, a greek salad, and my husband had lamb while I had lentil soup. Everything we had was good- not phenomenal, but good. My big disaapointment was that I wanted dolmades and spanikopita, both of which are on their menu in full appetizer sizes, and they refused to do half-orders or in any way accomodate my request to have this for dinner, other than requiring me to order two full-size apps that are meant for 4 people to share. Since both of those dishes are pre-made, their refusal was frustruating. Service was just okay- long periods where there was no one to refill glasses, no one ever came to see how our food was, etc. Decent enough food, but expensive with mediocre service.

4-stars = Food.......I ordered the Traditional Gyro. Delicious. Wrapped & cooked very well. But, the fries were soggy & oily. 2-stars = Service.....I ordered take-out and it took me 30 minutes to get a simple sandwich made. 2 stars = Price......The cheapest gyro wrap they had was $9, the Traditional. That seems pricey compared to other Gyro places I've been to that are of equal quality. Overall, nothing too impressive. Only if you're in the area, and in the mood for a quiet sit-down dinner for Greek, then you should check this place out. But definitely not something to go out of your way for

Unassuming restaurant in an "off the beaten path" strip mall...thought we'd give it a try. My first hesitation was NO ONE in the restaurant at 6pm on a Thursday night. Service was friendly but the food was BLAND! My chicken dinner was $28.00...medium sized breast of chicken with feta and spinach...again, $28.00!! Seriously?? I should have been savoring every bite but it never popped and was a bland piece of chicken. Unless I'm missing something this place is underwhelming and overpriced. Won't be going back...wah wah.

The greek food is definitely authentic and tasty. The lamb skewer for dinner last week was absolutely fantastic. A gigantic gyro for lunch today and I am hooked. Good Greek is usually tough as it seems to often be confined to gyros and baklava. But the flame does it well and should appeal to the masses.

Awesome! Best Greek food outside of Greece!! Their grape leaves were delicious, pita bread was the best we've ever had, the lamb was very flavorful...everyone in our group of 7 was raving about their food! The staff is super nice, they're what really makes this place... they treat you like family!! We are from Miami but will drive up here again just for this place...we WISH they would move down to Miami!!!!

One of the best Greek Restaurants I have ever been to. Ask for Ali. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely the very best. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. I had the Meat Platter for Two with my wife and we had leftovers! Desserts were out of this world! The total with coffee, Ouzo and their signature Flaming Cheese was around $90.00. WELL WORTH IT!

Came back from Greek Flame Taverna Satisfied. 11/2/10. Lunch I spent Appx: $10 including tip and tax. Ordered: Gyro General with side of Rice Food Quantity: 10/10 Gyro is incredibly big. Very happy portion of meat. Food Quality or Taste: 8/10 lil greasy meat and Rice had pine nuts Food Price: 9/10 You get what you paid for. Food Menu Choices: 8/10 Wait Time: 15 minutes after ordering. The Gyro is big and the meat is good, but little bit greasy. I didn't like the pine nuts in the side of rice; thought it had an unusual flavor to the rice and Rice texture wasn't great overall. Wait time was bit too much for me but, the lady at the counter was very nice so NP from me. Very homogeneous restaurant. Recommend: 9/10 For Age: 27 and up
