I went to Ginza a few months ago for the hibachi, and I thought the food (chicken and rice) was great and reasonably priced. However, since then I've been to Ginza twice and never even gotten a seat. Both times I've walked out with my small group after waiting at the hostess stand for five to ten minutes to get a hibachi seat. Just tonight we waited for five minutes and when the host finally came, he told us that we would be seated with a larger group. That's cool, no problem we thought. But, instead of collecting us when the larger group was led to their table, the staff left us sitting at the bar. We really didn't want to then go sit ourselves awkwardly at this other group's table. So we left and went to Hawkers, where we received excellent food and service. Take away: just go to Hawkers.

Went during the lunch special. Ordered Kung Pao chicken that came with an egg roll and a choice of soup. The wonton soup was flavorless and fell apart on my spoon and my main meal barely had meat. It was almost all fried batter(?). The sauce tasted otherworldly and indescribable.

I would not recommend Gina if you are near 50/Colonial. We ordered warm sake, it came cold. We ordered shrimp tempura and there was only two pieces of shrimp. The sushi ordered wasn't that bad with the exception of the squid, which was extremely chewy. There's many more restaurant

Sushi Lacked something. Friend got the teriyaki box and that was pretty good. $7.50 for lunch. 3 stars for cleanliness and a good location/parking.

Ginza is a hibachi grill and sushi bar located at the corner of 17-92 and 50 in the little Asian district part of Orlando. Much like its competitor, Kobe, Ginza is primarily hibachi tables, with a small area for regular dining. I've been several times now, mainly at the suggestion of others, and it is just never quite perfect. First off, there are two entrances, and if you go in through the back, you're immediately in the dining area and have to find your way to the front. If you go in the entrance directly located on 50, you're at the right spot. Each time I've been, we've been seated immediately, and usually the only ones at the hibachi table where we're seated. Only two or three times have I been seated with people outside of our group. The cooks prepare the food right in front of you on the table. The portions are huge, and usually I don't make it through even half of my food there at the restaurant. If you go in during their "Early Bird" specials time, you can get chicken, steak and shrimp for around $15. If you order sushi, that's made separately and brought over usually between salad & soup and your main course. The salad is good, but the dressing isn't as good as Kobe's, and the ingredients never taste quite as fresh. I think the dressing makes them a bit soggy looking and tasting. The miso soup is very good, though! For dinner, you get rice, noodles, and veggies with your meat. It does cost extra if you wish to substitute extra veggies in place of rice or noodles, or if you want to get just one type of veggie. I've never ordered dessert here; by the time dessert is a thing, I'm so full off carbs that I can't stomach the idea of eating another bite. Their drinks are pretty averagely priced, but nothing particularly special about them. They do offer a full bar, which is pretty nice. So, why the 3 star rating? Well. If you don't mind dining in a place that smells pretty yuck (moldy mop meets Asian cuisine), and you're ok with your food being so salty that you have to drown yourself in water, then by all means, go forth and enjoy! But, there is a reason this place is typically empty; the food isn't as high quality as Kobe, nor is it as fresh tasting, the smell is pretty off-putting, and if you're hoping for the same type of dinner show as Kobe, prepared to be let down.

Looks like an awesome place from the outside, but when you walk in, the place smells kinda weird. You know when you clean the floor with a moldy mop? Something like that so it smelled like moldy soy sauce; it was kind of a put off, even more so when we walked into the restroom; it was disgusting. One of the toilets had overflowed, and the other was just; I don't even want to go into detail, there was only one decent stall and we had to wait just to use a reasonably acceptable toilet. They were not busy on this particular night and we had to wait well over an hour before we were finally fed; granted, we were a rather large party but people who had arrived after us were already finishing up by the time our cook arrived at the grill. I ordered the calamari and chicken habachi combo and the cook had forgotten my calamari and it was the last thing to be cooked so by the time I got the calamari, the rice and noodles were already cold. Our waiter was great though, he really was the only reason why I'm giving the place 2 stars. There are better places on mills to eat that are cheaper and wont have you waiting an eternity for food.

After reading all the reviews.....I decided to take the family and give it a try. After all, the reviews posted previously are a mix of the worst and best experiences. I told my wife to go in with an open mind. Some of the reviews stated that service was horrible. Many commented on how they sat at the bar and/or waited a while to be greeted by the hostess. I was craving a Japanese dinner and I did not want to drive all the way to Kobe. We arrived on a Saturday night at 615pm. The famous smell that others have commented on in previous post greeted me at the front door! We waited for 15 mins for some one to greet us. We then sat at the bar hoping to get a drink while we waited for a table. At 645 I lost my mind and walked over to what appeared to be a manager and asked if he had a bar tender. He said yes and pointed to a man serving a table. 10 additional minutes past and I asked politely but firm if I needed to pour my own drink at the bar or should I just leave. 10 mins later another random person that was busting a table previously walked over and ask if he could pour us a drink. Finally we are getting some where..... Well.... After 3 mins of translating the English language to request a Vodka and Sprit to the nice gentleman and translating the words Red Wine! He poured us two Martinis. To add more insult he added a splash of coke to our drinks.....I'm a relatively calm guy. I general do not show myself in public. But tonight I think I could have been arrested and or on America funniest home videos. .... when he kindly smiled and slid my drinks over to me I thought for sure someone was going to tell me I was on candid camera reality show. Nope!!! This guy was 100% proud of his service and I lost it. I love yelp.... And I am believer of free speech. But whomever commented that this was the best place for sushi or Japanese steakhouse must of had visited A different place than I just did. I'm baffled that they are still open...dumb founded that they can even pay their bills and just completely at odds with the breakdown of "Red Wine" and a splash of coke. I left and drove to Nola Sushi....where I should have gone in the first place!!!!!

I think Ginza is under new management or has a new chef. I've been coming here with my friend for years (mainly for their cowboy roll) and today we were so disappointed. I received the Ariel Roll and there was a hair in it...they seemed pretty perturbed by the fact I didn't want another one when it was made. Also, my friend's Cowboy Roll contained onions and carrots (which it never had before, and wasn't listed on the menu as containing those things) This place used to be our go-to sushi place,..sad that we have to find a new one :(
(2)Tian Z.
Was there eating lunch today. Come in at 3 kinda late for lunch. No body was leading me to a table but since it was late so its ok. Lunch special price are reasonable, cheap beer. But the materials they using are not fresh at all, shrimp tempura was old and chewy, too much crunchy in the spicy tuna roll, but the waiter was doing a fine job. Then i ordered a whiskey sour from their bar, it taste like pure pineapple juice and believe u me that tiny small cup cost me 8.95.....i can get a way better tasting drink in a way fancier place at down town Manhattan for half of that price ..! Overall, not recommend to go. Even though u got extra money to through , do not through in this place cuz is just not worth it. Bad bad sushi place.
(1)Kristen C.
I tried getting a seat at one of the hibachi tables and the manager refused. None of the tables that were just seated were full. I guess he doesn't want my money.
(1)Roberto N.
Update. All four of us had the Hibachi special for 13.95. Chicken, Shrimp, AND Beef (not one- all three!!!) (This special was still available recently.) Portions are HUGE- especially of the noodles (I think Udon noodles or slightly smaller....), and the fried rice. I've posted some pics of the chef making it right at your table. That's always fun. And, my gosh, SO much cheaper than the chain that made it famous. Say you don't want the grill at your table? Half the restaurant is dedicated to that too. Suprises here? Very accomodating when we wanted a slight modification to the order. Spectacular waiter. Big portions. No wait. Newly opened (they have some pictures outiside the building that make it look 30 years old- they're all faded. In fact, the restaurant only opened in December 2009. I'd certainly recommend. And, I'd recommend the special
(4)Lindsay W.
Bottom line: If I didn't come here with my entire office for lunch, I would have turned and ran out the door within the first five minutes. Located off of Colonial, you can't miss this building. They advertise huge pictures of their steak, sushi and cocktails. I dined in with 12 co-workers and we sat around two adjoining hibachi tables. Entering the restaurant in the middle of the day, it was dark, empty and had an old food smell. Like a grill that had not been cleaned or an exhaust fan that went out. There is ample seating, a bar area and a water feature that had what looked like leftover Christmas garland. I was surprised that a restaurant of that size was so empty at noon on a Friday. I briefly considered the sushi special but after reading other Yelp reviews and my Ops Manager urging us to "stick with the hibachi". I went with the hibachi lunch special with chicken and shrimp. The menu stated it comes with a house salad and house soup for $8.95, which seems to be a bangin deal so I had reasonable hopes. Our server, a middle aged asian woman with a thick accent moved to each seat very quickly and I had just enough time to order my food before she slid to the remaining seats and off to the back. She was very agitated that some of the guests were getting up from the table to take business calls after ordering and exclaimed to our side that "he needs to sit in the same seat" when he comes back for his order. She also barked at me when I inquired what kind of soup she was presenting to me and I informed her I had an onion allergy and could not eat the soup. She didn't offer me anything different. She just looked at me sternly and scolded me for not telling her earlier because the chef "puts onions in the shrimp." Umm...sorry for having a severe enough allergy that needs warning? Our chefs came to the tables and had personality. It was a pretty standard hibachi show with cliche catchphrases. Their personality was probably the only redeeming feature of this review. The chef did exclude the onions from my food, but unfortunately excluded it from the entire table's food as well, which disappointed me as I made that request to her personally to keep from alerting my entire office that I had "special needs". The food itself was good. Average I guess. Nothing to write home about. I had a headache less than 45 minutes of leaving, meaning there was a substantial amount of MSG in there somewhere. I won't be back and I recommend you don't go unless you like being barked at by your servant and feeling sick less than an hour later.

Is there such a thing as an authentic Japanese Hibachi Grill? I don't know, but I ask because I only see Americans venturing out to places like this or its rival Kobe steakhouse. To compare with Kobe, I'd say they are pretty similar. Mostly the same items on the menu. They have a full liquor bar. They have sushi too. And if it's your birthday, you get a discount. The cook goes through the same entertaining act, while cooking your food, that Kobe does. If I didn't know better, I'd think this place was owned by Kobe. I can't complain about any of their food. The ginger salad is tasty and the miso soup. They have my favorite Nigori saki. I always try to get the filet, and it comes out very tender and tasty. We always have leftovers for a couple more meals too, and the filet is still tender after heating it up a couple times at home! If you think the meals cost too much, the 2-3 meals I could turn it into makes it cheaper. Something I like, is even if you are a couple there alone, they'll still fire up the grill for you and go through the whole act. When it's more crowded, you could end up sitting with people you don't know, which I think I do enjoy better. I am sometimes worried they aren't getting enough business when I come. I can't remember the last time I saw the place remotely even half full. Hopefully they are making enough money from their adjoining 2 restaurants to keep things going.

At lunch time, this is a nice compromise spot for friends with varying food preferences. The restaurant schizophrenically combines the themes of authentic Szechuan, Americanized Chinese Food (aka strip mall Chinese), Japanese Teppanyaki, sushi, and bento style cuisine. If you have a friend that hates all that, then your friend is a dick. At dinner time, Ginza is a font for hilarious hunger adventures, average fare, constant confusion and mix ups, served with warm cups of don't give a fuck. They have a full liquor bar but can't quite make it go. The Teppanyaki* is a travesty. I have tried to order from the Szechuan menu a time or two, but they always tell me I wouldn't like that. If I want shitty Moo Goo Gai Pan, I'll go to Panda Express; give me those goat lips; I want to try it! I once ordered a cocktail as follows, "I would like a vodka soda please. Do you have Tito's?" The young server from the Far East, looked confused, so I immediately changed the order to Stoli vodka. She left and later wandered back from the bar asking if I wanted the red or the black. I'm thinking, well, Stoli comes in a bottle with a red label, so "umm, the red?" Only after she left again, did I realize me saying Vodka and her saying Walker (as in Johnny Walker) sounded the same to each of us. I ran to the bar and stopped the waitress (no bartender) from pouring a big glass of Scotch. She then poured a nice stiff Stoli soda, and I was satisfied. This is my review. *Lots of people call this style of cooking hibachi. I always think of a hibachi as a Bar-B-Que grill, and this leads to many heated debates. Imma Google this one day.

Food is very good but staff doesn't seem to be happy but love it here it so good and cheap

Worst service I have ever encountered in Orlando. My group sat at the bar for a couple of drinks and what ensued was most deplorable and apathetic service I have ever encountered. The guy behind the bar must be a relative of the owner because he simply doesn't care about his patrons or his job. Everyone ordered in sequence, however after everyone was served I was left staring down at an empty cocktail napkin. I politely asked for my drink once again, but the bar tender was too bothered or inconvenienced to serve me. He simply acknowledged with an "ok" and walked off to attend to other matters. We decided to leave after this and were force to wait an additional 30 minutes for the bartender to come out of the back. With mop and bucket in hand we flagged the bartender down and told him we had to leave quickly to catch a gallery event next door. He simply said "ok" and proceeded to mop the area behind the bar. So disgusted with the service we approximated what our bill was and simply left cash on the bar and left. If I could rate a zero star that would be fitting of this establishments rather offensive customer service- not to mention the value of what our bill should have been.

Since there isn't a Kobe downtown, Ginza has become an acceptable substitute for hibachi when I don't feel like straying too far from home. The food is pretty good. I usually get filet and scallops and my steak has always been cooked to a perfect medium rare. The other components of the meal aren't as good but hey, it's cheaper and it's close. Here's my main problem though... I have a severe shrimp allergy. Food allergies are a BIG deal for those of us who suffer from them. It's not one of those "gluten allergies" that 75% of people all of the sudden suffer from because it makes them feel important. No. Shrimp for me equals instant throat swelling to the point of closure. When dining at places where there's a chance of cross contamination I make this VERY known to the hostess, server, food runner, chef... Etc. After informing 3 employees during the last trip I took to Ginza, the chef started preparing shrimp on the grill before any of my meal had been prepared. My boyfriend immediately informed him (again) that since he didn't follow orders correctly, he was going to need to clean the entire grill thoroughly before preparing my food. Now sure, maybe there's a small language barrier, but the chef acted like we were annoying him, grabbed a wet rag and barely wiped only a PORTION of the grill. Seriously dude? Needless to say, I went home hungry. I hate being an issue. I won't even send food back if it sucks.. But they need to learn to take food allergies more seriously before something unfortunate happens.

It seems this app doesn't allow half stars! The place smells and the food tastes like shit. I will never come back' It's true what they say! If you want the real thing go to the place that invented it I miss you Kobe!!!!!
(1)Billy S.
Went here on a weekend with a group. If it wasn't for the group, I would not have stayed. As soon as you walk in, the place smells. And not like food smell, but something like dirty sewer water. Maybe it was the makeshift fish pond they had that hadn't been cleaned in awhile. The host took forever just to come up, and it wasn't just us. There was a line of people behind us waiting too. Anyway, when we finally get seated, we are near the hibachi. At least at this time, the place didn't smell like an old sewer considering we were seated next to where they actually cooked. The server took out orders, and then went about her way. I didn't get my water refilled, my girlfriend'a order came out and it was wrong. And... My order never even came out! After I complained, all of a sudden my food was ready. I did not take it since everyone at the table was already done eating. Needless to say, I went home hungry! Heard some good things about this place, but I will never go back. The smell, the service. Just horrible. Good luck of you decide to go.
(1)Jocelyn H.
Nothing about it stands out from other hibachi restaurants. Service was 2/5. The server was rude and would just look at us when we ordered drinks and food. The cook was 3/5. He kept getting food on people which is kind if embarrassing. And when he was cleaning the teppen, it was so disrespectful to the customers eating when he lifted up the sides. Overall, the drinks were delicious and there is a big portion of food.
(2)Ellen C.
Horrible service. If you are not Asian they will not serve you for hours. They do not listen to you, and you must repeat yourself multiple times. I would even recommend this place to any American that I despise.
(1)Kathy K.
When you walk in, it's as if you're walking into an oasis. It's very clean. They have at least 5 hischi settings. You have your choice of doing hibachi, sushi bar or private table. The food is amazing- we started off with edamame (very fresh), hot sake (didn't have to ask for it to be reheated), tuna tataki (best I've had in Orlando yet), and a few sushi rolls (very good). I decided to order off the menu- Moo Shoo Chicken (similar to a soft taco). The serving was HUGE (definitely enough for 4 people). It was my bday, and I didn't even have enough room for dessert. Definitely next time :)

This will be our last trip. I made reservations for 12:30, started servicing us at 1:30. I have eaten here on Holidays and they always served lunch at lunch prices. Today they only served dinner at dinner prices for lunch When I called to make reservations they should have informed me, when paying for a party of 7, it's a big deal. Had I known we would have changed our plans. We should have left but being Mother's day we would not have gotten a table elsewhere. The owner had an argument at our table with our Chef about if I ordered chicken. For an ounce of chicken you would have thought he lost a million dollars, and I did order chicken. Our Chef was the only nice thing, he was wonderful. When our check came it was about $30.00 too much, they did correct it. If you want to keep customers coming back this is not the way to do it.
(1)Lori S.
We love everything about this place EXCEPT the hibachi. The hibachi is depressing and not as much an experience as other hibachi places. The menu items are, however, AMAZING....especially if you have a Chinese friend in two as we did. We love the hot as heck chicken family style soup. I obviously don't know the name. But, I'll order again (with help).
(4)Harris M.
Wasn't the best restaurant, but for the price not bad. The restaurant smells like an old attic that hasn't been open in 25 years. The rice was over cooked, and you can taste that the noodles were not fresh and been refrigerated for more than 3 days. The meat however was fantastic and the miso soup as well.
(2)Gsg S.
Dear reader, This is probably my fifth visit to Ginza. The lunch special here is a really good deal. I feel like the hibachi food here doesn't taste as standard as most places. Here's what's for lunch today: The house soup: pretty much miso soup, I have a sneaking suspicion that I was brought the wrong item. Oh well don't care it was good. Hot and sour soup: I'm not a soup hoarder I promise. This was my second time trying hot and sour soup. This was really good. I'd definitely order it again. Gyoza: I got them steamed this go around. They're good, nice and soggy. Texture wise not actually dripping with liquid. Szechuan pork: this was my entree on the waiter's recommendation. It was really good, nice little burn, good sized lunch portion. Solid choice. So that was that. Now I need to go back to my nondescript white van and pass out candy to almost teenagers.
(4)Jennifer L.
I ate dinner here tonight at one of their hibachi grills with a party of 7. We made reservations beforehand, but when we got there at 6 the place seemed pretty empty. The price for their dinner special (soup, salad, fried rice, noodles, chicken, beef and shrimp) can't be beat. $14.95 for all that is quite a deal! Plus, you get a chef cooking it all right in front of you. Sure, their jokes might be a little cheesy but the onion volcano never gets old to me. The onion soup is decent. The ginger salad dressing is delicious. Noodles were a bit undercooked and drenched in butter. Even though all the meats are decent quality, I was unimpressed with the chicken. A bit chewy for my taste. However, the steak and shrimp were the best parts of the meal. All in all, great value for what you get and a great place for groups. I'll be coming back here again.
(4)Lana S.
This place is awesome!! They are short-staffed, but super friendly and the food is great!!
(5)J V.
This place is soo gross food has no flavor and it was over cooked don't waste your money and the grill was really dirty that I have to tell the chef to clean it cause he was gonna start cooking with a dirty grill honestly the worse place for grill I preffer to spend a lil more but for better quality...
(1)Tanya T.
OK, so this is NOT exactly Kobe Steakhouse, but I like supporting small businesses, and this seemed rather OK to me. The place was almost empty on a Saturday night around 7:00, so that's a little concerning about the restaurant's longevity. The people that came in while we were there seemed to be repeat customers, so that's a plus. The staff was pleasant, the chef was filled with cheesy Japanese Hibachi Table jokes and Hibachi cooking antics weren't over the top, and the food was comparable to Kobe. You started off with some bland Lo Mein Noodles (which I could have done without) followed by what I thought to be decent fried rice. Then came the veggies (my favorite part- onions, zucchini, mushrooms, and carrots). We got the Hibachi Special for $14.95 which came with all three meats (Shrimp, Steak, and Chicken). The shrimp were large and fresh, the lower-grade steak was tender, but the chicken ended up being simply bland, tasteless cubes and I passed these along to my boyfriend at the end of the meal because I was totally stuffed. The rest of the table of 8 folks managed to take some of their food home, but I was able to clean my plate like a pro (minus the chicken blocks)....I would get the Steak and Shrimp Combo next time for a few extra bucks (and a better cut of steak). My boyfriend said he thought that they used WAY TOO much butter for his liking, but I thought it was perfectly seasoned. For $15 bucks, I think it was a fine meal. Decor was rather dated but typical of the restaurants in this neighborhood, and I surely wouldn't want to bring a group with the intentions of impressing. But I rather enjoyed the meal and would come back every so often when I get a hankerin' for some hibachi! I plan on trying the $8.95 Hibachi Lunch Special soon. This is one of those places where you'll either like it or not. You'll either think it's dirty, or you'll overlook the restaurant's ambiance and go for the food. You'll either think the food is good, or you may not. Either way, it's worth a try and I will go back. Enjoy.
(3)Miss Lotus L.
This place is nice to be in a big group. They have different kind of adders to your hibachi dish. Depending on your chef he might give you more shows than others. It's the third time I went there and the food is good. One time the chef did our order wrong but was able to fix it. In general I would come back.
(4)Jeff K.
I plan on coming back for the hibachi, but this review only involves the sushi bar. I like the interior of this place. At lunch it feels a little sparse, but overall it's nicely decorated and feels pretty big. Our waitress was very nice, and quick with drink refills and whatever we needed. We ordered the tuna kobachi to start, and then three rolls: Orlando, Hawaiian, and Valentine. The kobachi was a little odd, as the tuna had a stiffer than expected texture, almost as if it was half frozen. It wasn't though, it was barely lower than room temperature. So I don't know what to think about that. The rolls were all a good size, especially the Orlando Roll. They tasted pretty good, but I really wasn't "wowed" by any of them. It felt like something was missing, but my lack of food critic vocabulary and tasting ability makes it impossible for me to vocalize what it was. The price was right though -- the tuna kobachi, two bowls of miso soup, three specialty rolls, and a drink came out to less than $40 after tax. For sushi, that's a pretty good deal! I'll be coming back here, but I honestly don't know if it will involve sushi next time. Overall, a good experience although maybe not a memorable one.

Y'know what... good food, wide selection, more than reasonable prices. But knock down two full stars for ignoring obvious cleanliness issues. I know that being a server largely sucks, but when the entire hibachi table to one side is strewn with straw wrappers, bits of rice, and other detritus AND the entire hibachi table behind that one had stacks of used plates and glasses (obviously never bussed) - and THAT's the table you stage all your drinks from via soda/water/tea pitchers - take some goddamned initiative and pride and just clean it. Or ask the manager to handle it. How can i POSSIBLY expect that a sushi kitchen is kept healthily clean when you can't keep a single thing in the public areas from scoring anything besides a D- if a health inspector showed up. Ready to give you a higher score - the ball is in your court Ginza. -- Tried again. This time one of the Hibachi Tables wasn't working and our food didn't get cooked through. They MADE US MOVE our plates and such to a different hibachi table. They tried again. The same thing happened. This time they tried to pass off undercooked food as being done. No dice. The really ice-cold owner was there and she had to consult and talk and think about taking the unfinished food off the bill - after we'd been there an hour waiting for them to pay their gas bill or whatever. She still charged us for the sodas and iced teas, and not one "Hey give us another chance." Only scowls that we got away without paying for food that was probably illegal to serve in the first place. Only giving an extra star because the servers were friendly and helpful this time, and clearly embarrassed about everything.

Wanted to find a non-chain reasonable Japanese Steakhouse and not have to do an "early bird". Found Ginza advertised a $14.95 Special all day and decided to try with wife and father. Drove towards downtown Orlando and found it with no problem. It was not very busy on a Thursday night around 7pm (about 15 other guests). Our waiter was very pleasant and our Japanese chef was hilarious. The food was very good, with only one of us not needing a box to go, me. We had soup, salad, rice, noodles, chicken, shrimp and steak all for under $15. Our server made sure our drinks were full at all times. Will definitely be back.

The placed seemed very dirty and not up on the cleaning and maintenance. I brought my daughters here for a cool, nice birthday dinner. They noticed a few dead fish in their tank right when you walk in and a possible dead crab. The place was very dead on a weekend night. The food was ok, but just wasn't seasoned at all. Missing a lot of flavor. Don't get me wrong, they loaded our plates up with rice and vegetables. I didn't like the fact that they didn't De-vain the shrimp. I had to take that out for my daughter. It was a hefty bill, but not worth it for the quality.

Just like others have stated, this is your typical hibachi restaurant (like Kobe) only cheaper than most. They offer a pretty extensive sushi menu that is also pretty decently priced. I got the salmon lover roll which came with 8 very big pieces. Nice! I also ordered the salmon hibachi dinner, which sparked a joke from the server "Oh, you ARE a salmon lover". Very cute. A few of us at the table ordered alcoholic beverages, to which the chef made several comments about us wanting to get "fucked up". I found it a little off-putting at first, but I guess it went with his playful presentation. What I didn't enjoy, however, was that the egg yolk he was flinging around almost hit me. Dodging food isn't exactly what I like when I'm at a restaurant, but whatever. The food was really flavorful and had enough servings to last me 2 additional meals - I love leftover hibachi! The chef asked how I wanted my salmon cooked - when I said medium rare, he asked me if I was sure as if I shouldn't order it like that. Not really a good sign coming from the chef, but I guess it's standard to verify. The only complaint I have was that the temperature inside was slightly cooler than outside, which isn't good as it's summertime now. We mentioned it to the manager, but he did nothing to rectify the situation. I understand that we're sitting near the grill, but c'mon... I'll be back because you really can't beat the price :)

I've lived in SF and NYC, so I've had some of the best Chinese food in the states. I have not found any good Chinese in FL in 20 years, so when a friend suggested this place, I jumped. Oops. We waited a full 10 minutes for water- and the place was not busy. Our waitress was pleasant , but totally inept. We said we were ready to order appetizers and soup but wanted a minute to review the menu before ordering entrees. She looked at us and walked away! She came back another 10 minutes later and finally took our full order. And the waiting began again. At 35 minutes since arrival we had water, no refills and no appetizers or soup. You could see what was going to happen next. The soups and shrimp tempura came out finally, immediately followed by 2 of 4 entrees. So much for some time between courses. The hot and sour soup wasn't hot or sour. The won ton soup was average at best. And the tempura was so over breaded we couldn't tell what items apart. We finished half of that"course" because we didn't want our 2 entrees to get cold...and because they just didn't taste very good. Unfortunately it just got worse. The other two entrees did not come out for 10 more minutes. Half of our party ate while half watched. They weren't missing anything. The chicken fried rice had zero flavor and the chicken was under cooked. The sweet and sour chicken resembled mini corn dogs swimming in sauce. They were literally inedible. The other two courses were no better. A Szechuan chicken dish was over loaded with peppers and had no favors to it other than pepper. Good for opening sinuses, lousy for eating. The other dish was a house special with an assortment of chicken, beef, shrimp, bok choi and lo mein noodles. It was flavorless. Overall, this place is poor at best. The servers, while pleasant, are poorly trained and have no idea how a meal should be facilitated with good serving skills. The food was simply bad. We left half of everything untouched. I am now regretting what I did touch as it repeats itself all night. My search for decent, authentic Chinese food in FL continues. For now I'm stuck with American Chinese like PF Chengs. At least I can get decent edible food there and not retaste it all night.

My fiancé and I went here on a Sunday night. We arrived at 8:45, they close at 10. There were four other people that entered with us and we all got sat at a hibachi table. The waiter, who was waiting on the other 3 occupied hibachi tables, frantically ran over and said he didn't think anyone else was going to get seated and he would do the best he can. He took our drink orders and brought soup and salad out in a timely manner. The soup was so salty no one at our table ate it. The salad was covered in mayo/ginger dressing and the iceberg lettuce was all white. It took twenty minutes to receive our drinks and another hour and a half to get a chef at our table. One chef, who was not Asian, took numerous shots of sake and alcohol at the two tables he cooked for. Our chef was very friendly, but cooked at such a high heat everything was slightly burnt and not yet cooked all the way through. He also plopped the raw chicken (which was still dripping) next to the vegetables and the raw juice squirted at me and into the veggies. He also was giving me my vegetables and had a piece of half cooked chicken in my vegetables. When I pointed it out, he said 'oops' and kept cooking. We eventually got out around 11:00pm. Although the waiter did give is free appetizers to apologize for the wait, I would not go back there again.

Staff seemed annoyed we were here tonight. Sushi roll came out unrecognizable. Another guest at table was cooked the wrong meal. Every time we give this place another try we are disappointed. Drink service took approximately 10 minutes for each round of hot saki. The cook referred to the chicken as "walmart" chicken and that the eggs were buy one get one free. Food Prices are good on the menu. We more than likely won't be back.

Here's my review of a major "let down" in my search for great sushi. I have been to some amazing Sushi Bars/restaurants in my travels around the world and have had some wonderful experiences, but I finally have tasted my absolute worse sushi at Ginza. We parked in the rear and made our way in - our 1st observation was the odor of this establishment. It was just awful and enough for us to walk right out, but we were invited to meet some friends for a birthday dinner. We arrived early and made our way to the bar. There is no Happy Hour and no drink specials. We ordered the house wine and a beer. no issue with the service at this point. The party trickles in and we find ourselves seated around a Hibachi grill. I ordered the 3 roll sushi special for $14.95. When I inquired about the sushi I was immediately cut off and told to read the menu. Normally I would have closed out and ran out, but I was there for a friend's birthday dinner. Okay - the sushi was BLAND - no taste or attempt to make it appealing. The fish was NOT FRESH, the rice hard, a drop of wasabi with the 3 slivers of dried out ginger, coupled with the smell of the establishment made for a horrific dinner experience. Being a "Japanese Steak House" I did try the grilled meats - again - BLAND!! The service did improve and the cook was entertaining, but save yourself the time and money and find somewhere else to eat sushi. My search for Great All You Can Eat Sushi CONTINUES!!

I found their menu in my mailbox and decided to give them a chance last Tuesday night. I called ahead and asked if I could get the sushi dinner special for pick up. They said that's fine and I could even order the somewhat fancier rolls they had listed up there in the special section. I got 1 Philadelphia Roll, 1 Dynamite Roll and 1 Spicy Yellow Tail Tuna Roll (I think). I had six pieces for each roll and they threw in a little bowl of miso soup for a total of $14. The guy even called me when my order was ready, although i was already right outside. The quality and price of the food was fantastic. I give three stars because the nice friendly old man who took my order and gave me the order ready call seemed to be overwhelmed when required to do two things at once. I stood there waiting looking at my food while he took this telephone order for I swear five minutes. Several employees walked by to tell me he would be with me in a moment, but they did not help. I only saw two tables occupied in the entire restaruant. What in the world were the other employees so busy with?

Came here by accident really... I take too long to get ready to go out and when we actually got to Little Saigon we found out they close at 9 so the mesmerizing Ginza sign beckoned us over and off we went, dashing across Colonial to get some omnoms. I have never seen a hibachi/sushi place but this place makes me happy and I don't mind this. Kind of like a surprising successful breed of Ligers - makes me wonder why there's no more places like this because I love it! I got the scallop hibachi - plenty of food. Enough for me to finish my plate and want to burst but at least nothing goes to waste :D CLEAR! My boyfriend got the sashimi deluxe and that was just ridiculous with the quantity and superb with the quality. Oh! Of course we had dessert. We got some pretty damn authentic green tea ice cream. Not my cup of tea (haha) but it was pretty phenomenal. I think the price is decent for what you get and the service is really great and friendly. I spoke to the owner briefly (he's very awesome and sweet). Will definitely return!!

I've been to Ginza twice now -- once for the hibachi while I was still eating animals and once more recently while eating GF and veg. Both times the service was great and very helpful. If it weren't for that, I would have given this place three stars, so really I wish I could give them 3.5 stars. The food is average -- not bad, but nothing to write home about either. I like the seaweed salad but both DH and I found the eel sauce to be coyingly sweet, next time he'll ask for it on the side. They do have a large space, so if you have a big party, they can accommodate it with no problem.

Thursday 11/14/13. Went to Ginza on Colonial for dinner. Service was horribly slow. They forgot to turn on the grill. One couple had to wait 30 minutes for their drinks. The food was so salty we couldn't enjoy it. Will not go back.

It hurts my heart somewhat to not give this place a 5 star rating, but I just cant do it. I have spent many a great night here with friends and the significant other, and have had truly interesting interaction with the sometimes bizarre staff members. It is a place I have recommended to friends many times. The bottom line is, as far as price is concerned, you cant beat it. For 8.95 at lunch or 13.95 at dinner (Called the Hibachi Special), you get a full hibachi show, soup, ginger salad, vegetables, rice, noodles, steak, chicken, and shrimp. Are you kidding me? I just ate at McDonalds and spent $7.50. The only show I got there was some sort of a white trash, angry mother parade of sorts. And the food here tastes really good too, just as good as its significantly higher priced competitors (Kobe, Shogun, etc.). I actually prefer it's taste to Shoguns. The flaw here to me, is the sometimes questionable service and performers. It's really hit or miss. For example, the server named Jason is excellent, you won't have any issue with him, but many others have left myself and others to question if they were literally stoned out of their mind. As far as performers, I have witnessed shows just as high calibre as any hibachi place, and others where the chef rarely said a word and looked generally angry. It's all just too inconsistent. The food is always great, the value is always great, but the service and show aspect isn't always there. The show isn't really important to me personally, but others in a group have shot awkward gazes my way in the past as to say "is this guy for real?". There is also something somewhat eerie about this place on some nights, primarily since there have been innumerable times when I have walked in and it is practically empty inside, which makes all interactions (especially with the hibachi chef) somewhat interesting. They are nice about not making you wait for a full hibachi table though, and will often seat just your group (even if its two) at a table and start the show. I really hope this place is making enough money to stay in business, because it really is a favorite spot of mine.

Just to start - we didn't have the hibachi or the sushi, so can't say anything about those items, but we did try some of the Szechuan food. It's on a page almost completely in Chinese so we had to ask our very friendly server just what exactly was on that page, and boy are we glad that happened! It turns out that they make various noodles and broths from scratch and serve this very authentic (their words, not mine...so I'm assuming it's authentic) Szechuan food. The eats were very good (spicy beef noodles and roast duck noodle soup) and you've got to get the wide noodles with your dish...just awesome. Can't wait to try more from them...just surprising to get good Szechuan food from a place called Ginza, but I'm ok with that.

I have been here for lunch a couple of times and had sushi both times. The sushi was fresh and well prepared. I like the food and the prices are good. The restaurant has an odd "old building" smell that is a little "off", but the food was very good.

I'll have to admit, some of the "3 star and less" reviews almost made me miss out on visiting this restaurant. Glad I made the executive decision to just see for myself. I've been to hibachi restaurants before, and most are middle-of-the-road when it comes to price, food, and service. However, this restaurant's prices are easily lower than ones that I have been to, and the food did not suffer as a consequence. In addition, from the hosts at the door, to the bartender/server, to the cook......they were all very inviting, and very conversational. We all loved the movie tie-ins that the drink menu had. One drink was called "Under Your Spell" and another was named "Nightcall", movie affectionados please make me proud by spotting the significance. Kudos to Chase for the drink menus. Two in our party got the hibachi specials, another got the chicken teriyaki hibachi and I had the chicken hibachi. None left disappointed. I'll also say, the beer prices are pretty affordable as well, a 16oz Asahi was $4.95. Bravo! I can't review the sushi, but managed to notice the prices for the dinner specials, and they were great as well, I think it was something like "pick 3 sushi rolls for $13.95", but don't quote me on the price, I think that was it. My advice, despite some mediocre reviews, just give it a shot and see. I wasn't disappointed.
(4)Diane S.
Not my favorite: Price is good, BUT the food is very mediocre--so why bother? The miso is watered down and the green tea is from a tea bag (classic signature of a bad Japanese restaurant.) I ordered salmon teriyaki that was drowned in brown sauce and onions (bizarre) and the rest of the plate was uninspiring.
(2)Patty A.
I went here for a friends birthday, and I must say I was very impressed. I love hibachi and this place had great food and great prices. They do have a birthday special if it's your birthday you get, I believe, $15 gets taken off your bill. I ordered the hibachi dinner special which includes steak, chicken, & shrimp which was around $13. First we received our salad and soup and then afterwards our hibachi meal was made for us. I have to say they give you a lot food for the price, and I was even able to bring food home! The only thing that I was a not a fan of was there white sauce. Overall the prices are cheap and the food is tasty!

Disclaimer: My waiter, Allen, with his sensual smile and eyes, in no way affects this review (cough). Stereotypes out of the way first, what is up with the Japanese? Are they born with a feng shui decorating gene that eludes the rest of us schlubs? Ginza on E. Colonial in Viet Town is another heavenly looking place. Please Lord, let me win the lottery, so I can get a Japanese decorator to build my next home. On yet another sushi Saturday, I ran across this place on my way to another, and I'm so glad I did. I like to try a different fish everywhere I go, and today my choice was surf clam sashimi. Beware, it's like eating rubber, but the payoff is worth the chewiness. I had also had Yellowtail nigiri, which I've come to love. Someone told me recently that any place that serves sushi isn't worth its soy sauce if it doesn't feature yellowtail on the menu. Two rolls, one cooked tempura-style and the other raw, finished off the meal. Not a single complaint, and Allen (be still my heart) was well-gratuitied. This guy will be back soon for more.

Ginza (my lady and I like to quibble over the pronunciation - she says Gin, as in the alcoholic drink, I say "Ginn" - like "G-inn my belly!") is somewhat of an enigma to me. They rarely appear to be busy (I've been at least 5 times in the last few years), but they're still in business. In fact, we had Christmas dinner at Ginza last year. I always go to the hibachi, as I'm not one for raw, uncooked meat - but, to each their own. The hibachi table is set up in a C shape - with 2 hibachi grills on either side - seating is around 16 per table, I believe. The dinner hibachi special of steak, chicken and shrimp (I pass on the shrimp - shellfish allergy) is hard to beat for the price. I almost always supplement that with a Sapporo beer. Service has never exactly been Ginza's strong suit, but it hasn't been awful either. The hibachi dinner is served in 3 courses. The salad, clear soup, and then main course of your choice. The portion size of the main course has always been way too much for my stomach to handle in one sitting. The special I believe is priced around $12-13, which basically gives you 2 meals. $6 for a meal that isn't processed, microwaved, or sitting under a heat lamp is a pretty good deal if you ask me. With the meal, you are given 3 different sauce types, the white "yummy" sauce, the duck sauce, and I believe there's a teryaki sauce as well. I almost always get double white sauce because I really enjoy the flavor it adds to the meal. You get the meat, as well as noodles, fried rice (ask for steamed rice if you would like it), veggies, and a show along with it. The "show" lacks the fun aspect, and that goes back again to the service issue. The hibachi restaurants with chefs who appear to be really into the performance makes the meal that much more enjoyable - but to a seasoned (no pun intended) hibachi eater, the food is paramount, and they do a fine job with preparing the meat to your preference. All in all, I'll certainly return, because I have yet to find a better value for the price in a hibachi dinner in town - but it'd be nice if their service quality improved a little.

Operated by the same group as Ocoee's Ginza, this newer iteration is a welcome addition to the Mills 50 District. Ginza has taken the former Vietnam Town restaurant location and given it a top-to-bottom interior remodel. Gone is the bizarre stage and haphazard tabling, replaced by a half-dozen hibachi grills, a sushi bar surrounded by table seating and a large chariot display/fountain. About the only thing carried over from the old layout is the ample bar in the southeast corner of the restaurant. Overall, the interior appears fresh and tidy. The food at Ginza is solid, if not remarkable. I've yet to be blown away by anything I've ordered, but I've not been disappointed, either. The hibachi table shows are well-executed and interactive and the sushi fresh. The kitchen, likewise, is dependable. Arguably the best thing about Ginza, however, is that it's not Benihana. It's hard to say how popular the new location will become, but early in its existence, crowds have been eminently tolerable, with neither the long wait for seating nor lack of elbow space present at everyone's favorite hibachi chain. Also nice about Ginza are its very reasonable prices (the $13.95 hibachi special is a downright steal), and late hours ('til 10pm during the week, 11pm on Friday and Saturday). Overall, Ginza is a quality option for Japanese cuisine, especially given the paucity of hibachi restaurants in Orlando. In particular, it's an excellent Japanese bookend (along with the Bikkuri, a couple miles east) to the Mills 50 Asian cuisine district.

I couldn't really decide between a 3 to 4 stars only because I felt like the place was a little cold and the stale pond in the lobby was a huge turn-off for me. There's something weird about an indoor pond - you just get the whiff of "indoor pool" smell and it's not appetizing when I'm about to eat. But the habachi grill, which is what we participated in when we were celebrating a friend's birthday, was fantastic! A great bargain compared to Kobe's - our servings were huge and the food was delicious. I ordered the Habachi special which included shrimp, steak and chicken along with a huge helping of rice and noodles. The meal also came with a small salad and miso soup. The cook was fantastic and did all the usual tricks you'd expect at a habachi grill. I also ordered the house sake and our check, for two people, came out to just over $40 - score! I'm very pleased with the habachi menu and the service. It was great - I just wish the atmosphere was more cozy.

I go to restaurants for the food and service. The food here was just ok, nothing that makes it stand above any other hibachi place (had hibachi steak and shrimp). The service was subpar. Upon coming in, I went to the bar to wait for my friends. The bartender would only serve the people in the middle of the bar and never looked my direction once. About 20 minutes later, one of the customers in the middle told her that I had been there a while. As my friends started to arrive, they refused to seat us until all of us were there (4 out of 5 of us were already there). Finally after seating us, we felt a little rushed as they brought out the soup and salad (within a few minutes of each other). The hibachi chef came and did the usual jokes but didn't have a working lighter to light the fire for the initial "trick" so he had to borrow a customer's. Like I said, the food was just ok. The server basically disappeared at this point. After we were done eating, we waited a while for the server to come back so we could get our checks. By that time, the original server was gone and the bartender now took his place. Overall, a poor experience. I don't think I'll come back here.
(1)Christopher S.
This place has gone downhill fast. They hired a few new servers, one is very rude and hits on women. The service has dropped dramatically as well. We had to wait over 30 minutes to pay for dinner after we had eaten. The ingredients have deteriorated as well. What used to be large portions of shrimp or scallops is now bird food. The prices are still cheap, but the service and food is cheap as well now.

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! We sat at the hibachi like we have many times past and while we were eating I had a cockroach crawl off of the table and onto my arm! Serivce was horrible and slow, the chef did nothing but whine and complain and ruin the experience. After telling the manager about my cockroach experience she did not seem to believe me even when showing her the cockroach and everyone at the table saw it. She did practically nothing to right the situation except tell me she's never seen a cockroach and they have a pest company. I will never eat here again and it's a shame because since Kobe burnt down this is the only place in the area.

Cristina N. and Luis R. were with me on my lovely birthday evening where i had a very pleasant experience. So it was a complete shock last night when I went with a few friends for someone else's birthday. They have 4 table set ups, each complete with 2 hibachi grills, for a total of 8. When we came in, 2 of the 4 tables were sat and there were people waiting in the lobby. This was busier than i had ever seen it but I had no worries about the experience that was yet to come. Boy was I wrong. We were sat shortly after we got there and ordered quickly and got our drinks, salads, and soup just as fast. And then..............we waited. We quickly realized that there appeared to be two chefs there, one for sushi and one for hibachi. And the other table being cooked for at the time had just gotten their rice (rice is the FIRST thing you get). Our group and the group we were sitting with all exchanged looks as we took in the fact that it could be awhile before we actually ate... a long while. I really wish I was joking or exaggerating here, it was easily 90 minutes between being shown to our table and when the chef finally came over. Probably longer. And he ran through our orders as they always do and got right into cooking. Skipped right past my favorite part.... the sauces. He served up the rice and I realized we didn't have any sauces yet, which they are supposed to do first, and requested that they be given out. When he finally did dole them out he did it grumpily like we were irritating him. The food was alright, but I did request no vegetables, which he confirmed back to me twice, and then still proceeded to put vegetables on my plate. Luckily i was able to eat around them but it was annoying. Half of our group had ordered sushi, which had obviously been made and then proceeded to sit out waiting for the rest of us to get our food from the hibachi chef, not one of them enjoyed the rolls they had ordered as they were not fresh. Oh, and I almost forgot! As our chef was finishing up with the previous table, the wait staff sat another group at our table of four people, meaning we thought we would have to wait for them to order their food and have it prepped and whatnot before WE could eat. But no, we didn't. Instead they brought out a second chef (?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!) to cook for JUST THEM. I *still* want to know where that guy came from?! The ONLY and i mean ONLY saving grace, was our server. She was extremely attentive and quick with the drinks, which we all needed to calm our starving nerves. Even though I've been before and had decent experiences, it will take a LOT to get me back in there.
(1)Derek H.
This place is such a great little neighborhood restaurant and has been around for over 6 years! Now it's not a Kobe's or Benihana, but we've gotten a consistently good experience every time that we have gone - and we go quite a bit (lunch and dinner). Their prices are MORE than reasonable for the service and meal you get and I would definitely recommend this place as a good place to go for a casual lunch or dinner with friends or family.
(4)Luis R.
I'll have to agree with my better half, Cristina N, that the hibachi was fantastic. We entered on a Tues early evening awaiting our party of 12+ people. It was very quiet and there were perhaps only 4 customers eating at a table. It did seem sorta off that it was so quiet (no ambiance music, and even their projection screen TV was on really low). Although the staff saw that a group of us were waiting for our party, they didn't seem to feel justified in opening the bar which we were waiting at. Once our party arrived and we were seated at a two grill table, the service was prompt. We barely had a chance to get everyone seated and greeted before they were asking for our drinks of choice. Shortly after, they were taking our order. It was probably another 15 min. (maybe less) before the chef came out and proceeded with the cooking/entertainment. I ordered the hibachi special which came with, as stated by Cristina N, a heaping helping of fried rice, a big pile of grilled vegetables, a crap load of noodles, a handful of grilled shrimp, what seemed like a 6 or 8oz steak, and a full chicken breast. Oh, a miso soup and very delicious salad were for starters. The meal was especially delicious. I perked up every time the chef had more food to throw onto our plates. Plus, getting to watch the chef up close and personal prepare meals like this for so many people is always a treat. Um...I'm surprised I cleaned my plate. It was very, very filling and a very GENEROUS amount of food. I'm also thoroughly surprised dinner was considerably inexpensive compared to other restaurants (such as Kobe) and how much food we received. We both ordered the Hibachi Dinner Special, a beer and a sake, and the bill came out to only $40. All in all I'd hit up Ginza over a Kobe's anytime. Though, I haven't tried their sushi yet. I must admit though, it'd be hard to try sushi when I know the Hibachi Special is a delicious and sound choice.
(4)Michelle K.
Mexican Roll! Their hot sauce is kicking...I can't stop thinking about the way that red sauce slides over the sticky sushi rice. Delectable. I've been wanting to check out Ginza for their sushi, but I was hesitant because I thought it was a hibachi steakhouse that also served sushi. I was pleasantly surprised. Walking into the restaurant is a tad bit overwhelming as it's a huge space. They don't make the best use of it but it's comfortable, nonetheless. Their sushi menu is pretty extensive. They have some great dinner specials. I ordered 3 rolls for $13.95 and my rolls came with delicious miso soup. My waiter was extremely attentive and friendly and I was dining by myself. It's the best sushi along the Colonial Asian strip.
(4)Allan F.
Great lunch specials! Great service! Great food!! Tired of Bennihana and Kobe? During lunch, Ginza offers a lunch special for under $9 for chicken/steak/shrimp/scallops plus soup and salad with sides of fried rice and veggies. Very nice cook, waiter and host. Even offered to give me a travel cup for my soda! How often does that happen? Definitely will return! Don't know why such luke warm reception from the Yelp community. Perhaps things have improved as of today... Again, I went during lunch so...NO WAIT!
(5)Robert J.
I go to this place often and enjoy it very much. It has a local feel to it and the food is always excellent and generous size servings for the price. I only have ever gone to the hibachi side. The waiters are often kind and attentive with a smile, and sometimes they like to engage in brief conversation. I have had the pleasure of the owner cooking for us on the hibachi side. He is extremely nice and a wonderful cook! If you want as close to authentic Japanese hibachi at a great place, this is it. The only issue I have is with the very dark atmosphere at the times I have went, other than that I have had excellent service, food, and nice experiences at this restaurant. I would also like to add that I only have ever been between the hours of 12:00pm-3:00pm. I usually order the steak/chicken/shrimp hibachi.

I wanted to try this place for a long time and finally got the chance after a friend suggested we go there. The parking situation is sad, it seems like a VERY dilapidated old parking lot and the layout is odd. The wait staff seemed fairly apathetic and slightly incompetent, forgetting things and not being properly attentive. The food was a little less than 'meh'. I'm honestly not sure what to say about it other than that. Most of it seems to leave your stomach fairly upset and doesn't have great flavor. My recommendation is to visit one of the many other Hibachi places around.

I've eaten here on many occasions but have never been able to give a review. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!! My boyfriend and I love this place so much we bring friends, family and he even convinced his boss to throw their Christmas party there because if the great prices and food! Yes, the service is lacking a little, but I think that is because I never see the same server twice. It is very hard to keep servers in an establishment period, but harder when they are never busy. But I guess that could be a good or bad thing. I love never having to wait, but I don't want to worry this place will disappear because of their lack of business. I've eaten Hibachi, sushi, and gotten to go. Here are my favorite highlights! Hibachi: * Great entertainment! Just as good as Kobe, or better. * Fast seating, no wait. * Never crowded, or noisy. * Delicious food. * Great prices! Sushi: * Lots of variety. * They do custom orders. * Inexpensive, but still high quality. * Sauces are not an extra charge. * Big rolls. To Go: * You can get sushi, hibachi, or regular food all to go. * Keeps your info in the system, * Free delivery. * Fast delivery. All in all, I would recommend this place to anyone and I do! Better than Kobe!

I was disappointed after reading some of the negative reviews on yelp. I have been going to Ginza /Ocoee for years and have always thought of being a great affordable Sushi restraint. Now I go to this location since it is more convenient. I'm a fan of all their specials and deals they usually have going on. You can do lunch- 2 rolls, with a soup for $8.95 or dinner which is 3 rolls and a soup for $13.95. They also have specials for the Hibachi tables. The staff is always very friendly and attentive, and the owner is usually there. Great place for large groups, they have more than enough space and an affordable menu.

I love their 8.95$ lunch, and 13.95$ dinner specials! This is great place to take a large group of people, and their tepenyaki menu is perfect for people who think they don't like Japanese food. Also, if seated at the teppenyaki tables the chef that prepares ypour food is always very attentive to your needs (i.e shellfish allergies) and very entertaining! This location was just remodeled and is beautifully decorated, has a huge bar area, large screen with popular sports games being broadcast, and a dining area for patrons that don't want teppenyaki (i.e. sushi, or la carte items).

Ginza is great! You can choose a great variety of dining options. I have been there three times and the food, the preparation, the friendly wait staff were all very good. I have always eaten at the table where they prepare the food on the hot grill in front of you. Their lunch specials are only $9 on weekdays and that includes a generous portion of rice, vegetables and meat (choice of two - steak, chicken or shrimp) all cooked to order. The same special for dinner is only $14 and you receive all three meat choices. They have an extensive menu, but myself, friends and family enjoy the presentation of the food prepared in front of us, we haven't even ventured into the rest of their menu yet.

The only reason we gave it two stars is because I know they can do better. To start it off, our waiter was pathetic. He couldn't get drinks out and keep them refilled... Then before we even got soup and salad, one couple that came in after us and was sat at a hibachi by themselves got thiers before we did. Next, the chef (if that's what you call him), was a white guy trying to speak Japanese. He also had an "OZZY" tattoo on his hand that was completely visible while playing their little part- which I am a fan of Ozzy, Just not at my Japanese restaurant- where I am paying good money for food. Finally, the food was poor. The rice was overcooked on the outside, but still raw on the inside. The shrimp tasted like leather. The steak was good though. I don't think my friends cared for the chicken. The service and food really did suck. They weren't even busy. GET IT TOGETHER!

Let me start by saying this is completely food related. The server was very nice and the Chef was entertaining. HOWEVER, If both my fiancee and myself get sick within 5 minutes of leaving the establishment there is something very wrong. That is my main issue. Secondly, everything was undercooked. I asked for medium rare on the steak and it was raw inside. Cold even, not cooked at all. The rice & noodles were also not cooked as long as you usually see. That should have been the first warning. Everything was bland - there was no sesame seeds used which is not typical, and they did not season much unless you consider butter a spice. Their white sauce, which I generally love at places was Blah. I would not recommend coming here.

Despite the mixed reviews on this place, my friends and I were in the mood for hibachi and let's face it- Kobe is expensive, especially when on a budget. We met up at Ginza and while it's in a terrible area of town and the outside is less then impressive, let's face it, I'm here to eat so who cares what the neighborhood looks like if the restaurant's good. One more note about the area before I move on- it's just like any other Orlando neighborhood; a mixed crowd near some less-than-savory characters. I suggest parking on the street as the back parking lot isn't well lit, well-paved, or from what I can tell, well-monitored. The inside of the restaurant, though, is really nice, cool decor, decent vibe, spacious. Enough about looks, I'm here to eat! The food was very good- I do find it hard to tell the difference between the meals at the hibachi grills, they all kind of taste the same to me. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though. No complaints here about the food. I had the filet and chicken combo for...wait for it...$18.50. Yes, that's filet MIGNON and chicken. With the soup, the salad, the rice and noodles (anyone else wonder why rice AND noodles?), and veggies. Awesomeness. Even though we were there for Easter, the restaurant still offered a great special my friend took advantage of- $13.95 for chicken, steak and shrimp plus all the sides and apps mentioned above. VERY big portions too- I had enough food to take home for two additional meals. Yes, the food still tasted good as leftovers (which almost never happens with hibachi). The menu is definitely reasonably priced and while I didn't try any, they also offer a full sushi menu. The service was...an experience. Everyone was very friendly, but what a poorly managed wreck! I don't blame the servers, it didn't seem there was any organization whatsoever. With only 1.5 full hibachi tables in the restaurant, you would think 3 servers, 2 hostesses and the manager? owner? could handle 12 guests. That, unfortunately, wasn't the case though. Before I rant, I want to say thank you to our head server Justin, who definitely redeemed the experience and had common sense, a great personality and memory. Ask for him. Everyone else though? W-O-W. I've seen problems in restaurants when there's a dedicated server to a table, and team serving.I couldn't quite tell you what was going on at Ginza, though we were asked at least three times from three different people what we wanted to drink, eat, etc. 12 PEOPLE! The staff wasn't busy, they were standing around watching, so why were we playing table-tag with the food and drinks? I like attentiveness, but this was ridiculous. Pick a table and serve it, or everyone in the restaurant take 1 person at the table or figure out SOMETHING. The other issue was that the same servers would come back after they had already taken our order and try to ask what we wanted again...and never bring it. All very odd. Suggestion to the owner: Promote Justin, and organize yourselves. Even great food at a good price isn't going to continually keep me coming back to chaos. You can't fully understand the confusion unless you experience it. I hope it was just a one time thing (perhaps they thought training an entire new set of staff on a quieter night was a good idea?). All in all, A- for food; B for effort; D for service (Justin, A for you); B- for the environment; A+ for pricing.

Q: Why did the headless chicken cross the road? A: Because it is a server or hostess or manager at Ginza. I wish I could say something more positive about the place. It's a nice decor and it's close to home and it's hibachi. But the previous reviewers have pretty much nailed it. The good: It's in a great location at Colonial & Mills. It's beautiful inside. Somebody spent a fortune on tile alone. It has its own parking behind the the building. The menu is hibachi and sushi. The prices are good compared to Kobe, Samurai, Benihana, etc. The hibachi chefs really really try. And the hibachi chefs do a good show. Lots of FIRE! The hibachi special for $13.95 is really unbeatable in terms of value. The not so good: The food is kind of bland - from the sauces to the fried rice to everything else. Soy is cheap, use more of it. And the service. The service is ... The service is .... Ok, the service is an insult to headless chickens everywhere. On our first trip, we were the only group at our hibachi table on a Thursday night. We ordered drinks. Nothing fancy. A Kirin. White wine. Crown & coke. Gin & tonic. The server reappears at our table, most apologetic. They can't serve us. They don't have a bar tender and they don't know how to make the drinks. Seriously. After MUCH discussion, the manager finally agreed to try to make the drinks. He went behind the bar, trailed by waitresses, bus boys, hostesses, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir to attempt the intricacies of the Crown & Coke. Complete with an e x a c t 1 oz pour from the the shot glass. On the second try on a Friday night .... we discovered that not only can the hostess not really speak English, but she can't count either. The first attempt to seat our party of three failed when the party of five at the hibachi table (including three kids in high chairs) had spread out to take all 8 seats. And could not be persuaded in broken Engrish to move. Thanks, we'll wait for the next table. The second attempt almost failed, and perhaps mercifully should have, when the hostess seated a group of nine and then brought us to join them. Lets see, twelve into eight seats. So we kinda had to sit at the next table that is laid out back to back with a counter top bridge. Our waiter was a complete and total space case. Maybe they were doing bong hits of hash in the back. I don't know. It took 20 minutes after we were seated to get drink orders. He took some, then he left, then he came back. It took forever to get the first round. Reorders were an ordeal. I never got one of my reorders, but I got charged for it. He never brought two rounds for my wife, but at least he didn't charge us for them. We ordered sushi appetizers. An hour later and two reminders later, he finally put the order in ... and blamed it on a sushi backup. As I watched the two sushi chefs standing idly, watching the Magic game on TV. I never did get mine. My wife's tuna nigiri had slices so thin you read through them. If they could get their act together, this could be a good place. Or, it's going to be gone.

Love their lunch specials, lots of food for the price. We usually go on Sundays after church. My husband always gets the hibachi lunch and I get the sushi lunch, both of them with plenty of choices to pick from. The salad with the ginger sauce is the bomb! I love it!

Ginza Steak and Sushi is an average Hibachi/Sushi Restaurant that is, well, just average. They took over this location on Colonial that used to be a Vietnamese Restaurant. They have a dinner special going on for $13.95 that feeds you an onion soup, ginger dressing salad, and a Hibachi plate of steak, chicken, shrimp, veggies, fried rice, and noodles. Everything was about average and we sat at a regular table instead of the Hibachi tables because we ended up having a party of around 50 attending. But, the food had a microwaved taste. Wasn't fresh at all. The noodles were limp, the rice was bland. It just did not wow me in any way. I'm sure it would've tasted better cooked at the Habachi table fresh so I might give them another try. The only positive was the price. Normally for a dinner like that, it costs around $20-$30. The price, however is probably just to attract new customers and once they get going, if they ever do, they will take the special away. I also ordered a Super Crunch Roll which was tasty (had tons of spicy mayo, eel sauce on it) but it was just drowning in sauce that I couldn't enjoy the flavor of the actual sushi. The service was decent considering we had a party of 50. Our glasses were kept full, plates were taken away, food took a while which is understandable, and the server had minimal personality but got the job done. The place itself is huge. It seats over 200 people. Overall, I've had much better sushi/hibachi experiences elsewhere.

This restaurant is divided in half and half is dedicated for hibachi table cooking, and half to sushi. We tried the hibachi side and enjoyed it. The wait was short, the staff took care of us, and the chef was entertaining. The food was good and the prices were fine. Overall we had a good time and it met my expectations for this type of meal. The building is very large, the business is new, and they will have to build it up some to get a lively crowd.

My wife and I decided to have lunch at Ginza. I will say the place is HUGE and a little quiet, but I guess that's somewhat expected of a new business. The service was a little slow and I'm not sure why because we were 1 of 4 tables currently dinning at the time. I was impressed with their lunch specials and portion sizes. The food was good and worth the wait. I would recommend this place for lunch, maybe not dinner.

didn't try their sushi menu, but their habachi isn't bad! they have a special habachi dinner for only 13.99, including steak, chicken, shrimp, soup and salad! pretty good deal isn't it? the waiter was friendly, overall pretty good, if you get lost in downtown Orlando and hungry...you could try this place...:p

I ate at Ginza their opening week with my boyfriend a while ago and we were the only table. Despite that, I wanted to try it out. Our server was a bit awkward, but since it was their opening week, we figured he wasn't use to serving. We ordered several rolls and were very very disappointed. One of the rolls had eel sauce, and was pretty much brown sugar water and another roll, I believe it was called the Fantastic roll, was literally the size of my fist. Bigger definitely is not better when it comes to sushi. It smelled horrible, and I think the fish used was spoiled. For dessert we ordered the fried ice cream, and the dough was uncooked -_- Regardless, I thought the restaurant was made very beautifully. It's reallllly big and has potential but I was not impressed at all. I came back last week to give the restaurant another chance with my mom, but we were still disappointed. First off, they really need to get a legit hostess because we entered and stood there for a while before being seated. They servers looked at us, but nobody approached us. Again, our server was awkward...i'm not sure if it's because i'm a server and I have experience, but he kinda lingered around wanting to ask how we were, but didn't and was just creeping up on my mom and I. She liked the look of it, but she didn't like the sushi at all. We ordered seaweed salad to start off...and it took SOOO long to come out. Within minutes, our rolls came out. We got the volcano roll which was okay...they added onion peels or something giving it a burnt kind of taste. We also got another roll which...unfortunately had eel sauce, which still tasted like sugar water. My mom wanted to try other food so we got a bento box, which wasn't even a box, lol. You know the trays that kids eat off of when they're in elementary school? That's their bento box, so I was a bit surprised. There was beef, fried rice, crab ragoons, and...something else but I forgot. Wasn't that great... I really like the look of the restaurant, but I don't think they'll make it. People who want real sushi know where to go...and people who want decent cheap sushi should go to Bikkurri. I tried giving it a chance but I think this will be my last visit here.

Our first impression of walking up to, and entering Ginza with visiting family members? SCARED. We were scared because we never heard of this place until we found out that Benihana was completely booked and needed a quick replacement (two of our party insisted on hibachi). We were scared that we had to park in a lot that shared cars with the guests of a concert going on next door (there were many dirty looks and transversing of a lot of broken beer bottles as we exited the parking lot). We were scared that when we first arrived, there were all of 12 people, total, in the restaurant. We were scared that within half an hour of waiting for the rest of our party, the place COMPLETELY filled up and the chance that we would get lost in the shuffle was prevalent. After being seated at a hibachi table, our fears were quickly assuaged by a passionate staff. We felt welcomed and appreciated. The food was average and pretty much what we expected. The service, while being a bit scattered due to filling up all at once, was heartfelt and ultimately complete. The kicker at the end of our experience, was the total bill. Due to the low amount, we figured that something had been mistakenly left off. Nope. It was all there. $98 for a party of six with substantial leftovers to boot. We have found a hidden gem! Just don't tell too many others;) ps~ half the restaurant is a beautiful sushi bar and the 2 rolls we enjoyed while waiting for our party were fantastic! (and VERY modestly priced!)

The interior of this restaurant, the old Taylor's pharmacy building, is Spartan but stylish. The restaurant was nearly empty on a Friday evening -- which should have been a warning. Sadly, the food and service leave much to be desired -- the former is third-rate and bland (on a level inferior even to mall food court fare) and the latter slow and inept. The Chicken Katsu bento box I ordered featured greasy, sodden, unseasoned chicken strips (served with a sweet and sour sauce rather than Katsu sauce), obviously microwave-reheated bland fried rice, crab puffs which seemed to have come from the supermarket frozen food aisle, as well as California rolls which seemed to have been made with plain cooked rice rather than with Shari rice (vinegared rice.) The ginger salad dressing was pleasantly tangy, however. The waiter appeared to be completely unfamiliar with the menu; when my dinner companion ordered a glass of plum wine, he brought her a glass of Chardonnay instead, not knowing the difference. This is not a restaurant I would be likely to return to.

I found the food to be good and the price to be very good. The hostess was very quick to check us in and seat us promptly. The server kept our drinks filled and was friendly. The special is the best option for the money you will get Steak, Chicken and Shrimp. Go on Sunday they are less busy and you will get a good seat.

This is my favorite place to get sushi. Try the Ginza roll!

Pretty good lunch prices. The service is ridiculous, I think so far the funniest experience and somewhat insulting I had here was a couple months ago. I was eating alone for lunch at the sushi bar. Now I've been eating sushi and using those oh so difficult chop sticks for about 6 years, so I've got a little practice. So any way I'm eating there comfortably and quietly when I hear someone speaking at me. So I look and I'm still not exactly sure what she was saying but she handed me the practice sushi rubber band chop sticks for amateurs lol I laughed at her but I'm not exactly sure why that happened. Basically without fail every single time I've been there it has been awkward between the chef and wait staff it's always a trainwreck but I like the entertainment and yummy sashimi!

G.I.N.Z.A, g.i.n.z.a. g.i.n.z.a and ginza was her name-ah! haha! i couldn't stop singing this. we went here on the recommendation of a friend. it wasn't busy, lots of room, it was a wednesday night and the Magic game was on...which they were showing it so, heck yeah!!!! my friends ordered the hibatchi (which you don't have to sit at a hibachi table to get it) and i ordered sushi. It did take a while for our food to come out, but when it did, it was very satifiying. My sushi roll was The Kiss and I couldn't even finish it...it was massive!!!! which i like cause serioulsy, who wants a tiny sushi roll?!?! not this girl! The hibatchi meal looked delicious and had the same options as if you were sitting at the station. noodles, rice, protien, veggies...WHITE SAUCE!!!! haha! The service was good. The food was good. No complaints except it took a bit of time for our food to be delivered. so yeah, check it out and see what they have to offer for you :D

Our office group has been to this Ginza several times over the past two years for lunch. We quit going last year because it took forever to get our meals! The greeter/manager was usually very abrupt and would not seat us until our entire party was present. And if someone in our party was NOT ordering teppanyaki, we were frowned upon and not allowed to sit at the teppenyaki table! Today was someone's birthday so we reluctantly agreed to go. (side note - I have gone to the original Ginza near Ocoee for years and it was always fantastic so I suggested this place originally) Today, I have to say the experience was much better than the last time I was here. Prompt, friendly and very fresh. One person ordered the Tuna Kobashi and I ordered the Krab Puffs for appetizers. The tuna was cold, firm, spicy and delicious. The Krab Puffs were most excellent and I convinced two of my co workers to try them as they had never had them. The loved them! Light, flavorful and yummy! We all ordered the lunch special, which is a great deal, and all of it was cooked to perfection. We had probably the best lunch we've had there. I hope Ginza keeps up the "new" aura. My personal favorite is Ginza's original Kiss Roll. Wow. Yum. And I don't eat fish!! I've tried to have other places recreate it to no avail. Think I'll order one to go later this week!!

The service was waay better than the food. The staff was warm and friendly. It was sincere and you can almost tell they were trying hard to make up for the disappointing food. Which was overly sauced and stuffed with rice. It is an old trick in the book to fill you up with as much glucose as possible to make you feel it was worth the money. I almost couldn't tell the difference with what I was eating because it always had a blob-not drizzle of sauce. Do you know why the French hates it when you ask for the ketchup? Because food shouldn't really be about the condiments and sauce. Even the decor at the place was all wrong- there was nothing Japanese as an ambiance... Meh. Again, the people were very sweet and friendly. I am sorry for the food.
