This is the cleanest Chinese restaurant I've ever seen and the food is excellent. Small place with 8 four topper tables, but who likes to eat at busy restaurants? Great service and conveniently located to Chilly Spoons for Nitro Ice Cream for a little desert.

Very clean place, food is made to order & very fresh. The portions are smaller than your average local chinese spot but it is very filling. Lunch combo includes soup, eggroll, a cup of rice and a portion of your choice of meat with a few veggies. Very good food and decent pricing. Definitely would recommend and will go back in the future. :)

Excellent to-go Chinese food. Everything is always packaged very neatly, and portions are big. You can order to specification (I'm very picky), and they don't mind at all. I've been going with my family here for almost 15 years, and I have nothing bad to say. Great people, great food! Can't go wrong :) Personal fave: Chicken fried rice, chicken lo mein

Well as I said in my quick tip it was clean and friendly, but once I got home I saw what one of the other reviewers meant by sticky sauce. I got the garlic honey chicken and it was very honeyie and not very garlicee. For the sake of a large write up, I will give it another go but try something different next time. Almost forgot...the Ragoon was pretty darned good!

We just moved to Orlando from Southern California where we ate great Chinese food every week and had pretty high standards for good food. Dragon King is truly a find for awesome food even though it is a small restaurant. We recommend you try it. Also, Jason is right about how clean it is, and the reviews about Krab Rangoon are right on. It is the best I have ever had! The hot and sour soup is delicious!!! If you want a wonderful non-spicy chicken dish then order Snowflake Chicken. Enjoy.

I am surprised by some of the lower ratings of other foodies below. My boyfriend and I love Dragon King and eat there pretty frequently despite living 20+ minutes away from it now that we have moved to another part of town. We usually order the chicken lo mein and pork friend rice, and split the two between us. We almost always have left overs for another meal (which is usually even better when reheated). The staff has always been friendly to us and we've never had an issue with them getting our order wrong - although I grant that we don't order anything too difficult. My only recommendation would be to get it to go since it seems that you get more food in the containers than you do when they plate it in the restaurant. I'm from the north and I agree that Chinese food is better up there, but this is definitely a great stop for southern Chinese food!

Fresh!!! They use fresh all white meat chicken for their dishes and they literally cook everything to order while you wait. I love their honey chicken and their egg rolls!! Their "specials" come with an egg roll and rice, but the portion is a bit smaller...their Dragon King dish version of the same entree is about the same price but with no side orders. The owner greets you like she's been waiting all night for you to walk through that door and it such a sweet treat to see her smiling face! Call ahead about 10 minutes to pick up.

My first and last time time at this place. I ordered take out & went to pick it up but it was pouring so I asked if we could sit & eat and they said no because we ordered to go. LOL, the spot was empty!! Really? Oh yeah, "tasteless" pretty much sums up their food. Didn't care for the egg roll, wanton soup, or fried rice. Almost $8 for lunch and it was not worth it at all!! Never again

Good solid "Gringo Chinese" (that's what my girlfriend calls it). They list some good specials on their menu, like "Shrimp with Black Bean Sauce", and my personal favorite "Singapore Noodles" or "Singapore Mei Fun". They have a TV in the dining room, which is actually a much nicer experience than most NY Style Chinese - carpet and decor are pleasant. Normally a TV in the dining room is a faux pas for me, but we always seem to be eating there during Jeapordy / Wheel of Fortune, which is kind of a fun attraction with dinner.

Always made to order & fresh. My favorite Chinese in Orlando; the restaurant is small but always very clean & the family is so sweet and give great service. I called at least once a week while pregnant so when I call to place a order they already know who it is & exactly what I want :) can't get that kind of service these days!

This place is a hidden gem. I'm surprised by the review/photo below with so little food. I get the opposite everytime I go. The crab Rangoon actually has chunks of crab in it! The spring rolls are very fresh and actually has green vegetables in it. I always get the same thing, the Singapore noodles. So good!

You may not get much food it may be over priced but at least you know you are not getting dog or cat you can actually see the meat of chicken an its not dried out like some other places on orange blossom trail so I love there food but still over priced but heck good food

Worst Chinese food I've had ever!!! I paid $30 for a meal which was 4 pieces of chicken, a cup of fried rice. I also ordered steam dumplings (tasted so bad) and lo main. I was so upset when I saw the amount of food that I just wanted to drive back and just get my money back but I needed to go to work. I will not recommend this place and I will never ever ever go back.

I honestly can't believe that these people are ripping people off with a $7.75 "lunch special". I ordered the Sesame Chicken Lunch Special today...I arrived picked up my food and returned across the street (2 minutes) to work....I was rather disappointed when I opened my container to find LITERALLY FOUR SMALL PIECES OF SESAME CHICKEN.(I have pictures), a small scoop of rice and three stems of brocoli. I'm not much of an eater...I weigh 155 soaking wet...but I was still pretty hungry and even more angry after eating here. When I called back..The owner hung up in my face when I said I felt ripped off. So forget this place. You can get way more, for dollars less elsewhere. Food was average at best. Never again for me. I dont want to pay to starve.

I have had Dragon King for take-out on several occassions. Last night was the first time I dined in the restaurant. Their food has always been great in my past experiences and last night was even better. Their food is always fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. Usually, I get the General Tso Chicken or Lo Mein. Last night I tried the Singapore Specialty dish which is cooked in curry spices. I thought it was out of this world. It has chicken, pork, shrimp, and vermicelli rice. Outstanding! I always start with the Wonton Soup and it was excellent as usual. This place is the best Chinese restaurant I have had in Orlando aside from PF CHang's. However, I consider Dragon King to be more of a "local" and "authentic" Chinese restaurant, whereas PF Changs is commercially good Chinese. I would definitely recommend Dragon King to anyone for a good, local, Chinese restaurant that has great food and good service.

Dragon King Restaurant is located along the same emerging strip of Orange Avenue as Chai Thai, which I reviewed last month. Business once again brought me to Orange Avenue and my companion suggested we stop at Dragon King because it was "actually pretty good." Always open to recommendations, I agreed we would stop there and, although the food may not win any awards, it is a fine place to stop for lunch. Dragon King is located in a corner unit on the ground floor of an office building. If you pass by the location and read the building's sign, which lists the tenants, you will learn only that there is a "Chinese Restaurant" located on the premises. Closer examination will reveal the slightly run-down Dragon King sign on the building itself. Truth be told, I probably would not have ventured in based solely on the appearance of the restaurant from the outside. Once inside, however, I was very happy to be there. When I entered Dragon King, I was more than pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the small space, which holds about a dozen tables, and the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. Five star service and immaculate standards of cleanliness go a long way towards creating a good dining experience and Dragon King is very strong on both points. My companion ordered General Tso's Chicken with a small bowl of Wonton Soup to start. As is the case with all lunch menu items, the soup, rice (white or fried) and an egg roll were served with his chicken dish and he assured me that all were very good. I ordered the Buddha's Delight, a vegetarian dish that includes mushroom and bean curd. Despite a slight language barrier, our server did an excellent job of guiding me to the vegetarian items on the menu and cautioned me not to have the egg roll (extra rice was substituted) or the Wonton Soup (egg drop soup was substituted). I always value the knowledge of servers who can help me to avoid ordering meat dishes. I cannot really suggest anything bad about my dining experience at Dragon King. The space was pleasant and the food was good. I limit my review to three stars only because the food was good, and just that, good. It was not pushing the boundaries of the culinary arts or so wonderful that I need to force myself back to Dragon King as soon as possible. Rather, it is a nice place for lunch, dinner or take out if you happen to be in the area and in the mood for it.

The food is okay (it's not bad but not great), but the people who work here are unpleasant. They just don't give a crud if you return or not. Have a problem? They just don't care. There's no way I will keep giving my money to this place based on the complete lack of service. Ps - We are not talking large problems. We are talking about missing rice with the dinner and them wanting to charge me $5.00 for a side of rice when they never gave me rice and then telling me they don't understand. Such is incredibly frustrating.

Dragon King is the best takeout style Chinese food around. The portions are generous and everything is always fresh. You can tell they use good meat and fresh veggies. Always good. Get the Krab Rangoon, so much better than you're used to!

  • S S.

This is my first review here. With previous review of generous portions I was shocked with my $8 lunch special to see only 6 pieces of chicken and not alot of rice I was shocked. If I am paying that much I expect an over flowing box of food. Next time I will drive farther. The food is ok. I will try and post a picture.

Underwhelming food. I'm from NY (Long Island) and now resided in the Midwest (Bloomington, IN) and there are many restaurants that are far better even in the middle of nowhere. The menu was a limited version of the standard take-out. We ordered General Tso's, Chicken with Broccoli, Steamed Dumplings, and an Egg Roll. We wanted Garlic Green Beans but they were not to be had. The General Tso's was fair -- spicy enough -- but the sauce was barely flavored corn syrup tasting. The Chicken with Broccoli was better: a plethora of vegetables other than Broccoli and Carrot that I usually expect; the sauce was salty and bland; it really appealed to a 6 year old. The dumplings were tough and chewy: inedible with bland pork filling. The egg roll was freshly fried but I couldn't tell if it was made there or bought commercially. It was fairly close to the hospitals so I thought it would be a convenient change from the food available at hand. I think I should have saved our money and applied it to a meal out somewhere else.

Very clean. It's basically like the average take out place except a really.nice inside. Food was delicious. So happy to have found a take out place near my house.

"Not bad" about sums it up. The food is okay; I go there because it's often on my way, but I have found the staff to be quite uncooperative. Maybe it's a language barrier, but I find that any special request is met with "we don't do that" or "that cost extra." I have learned to order items that I like the way they come even though I might prefer something different on that particular day.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
